"What happens when action gaming is done perfectly? Uncharted 2 happens."
On it's surface this game looks like another action game, nothing special. It doesn't seem to do anything special, but thinking this you would be dead wrong. This is not just the best action or 3rd person shooter ever, it is the single best experience in a game you will ever have. It crafts a story perfectly in a realistic way and makes you care for the characters, and what happens to them. Dialogue between characters on the fly gives you a real sense that they ARE real, they tell corny jokes just like you would with your friends, not every line is something perfectly crafted, it all feels natural.
The graphics are undeniably the first thing that will catch your eye, and for good reason. The game is the best looking game on a console to date. Undeniable in this, the beautiful scenery, jungles, cities, snowy mountain tops, quaint villages in the middle of nowhere, a huge expansive museum? All done beautifully, and that's just a few of the amazing places you will be experiencing. The game is very much improved in every way from the 1st game in the series, and that is saying a lot since Uncharted : Drake's Fortune was a great game in it's own right. You no longer sit back and simply exchange bullets with enemy troops pouring into the room, combat is much more than that now and you have many option on how you want to take out your agitators. Taking a small nod from the MGS games, you can now engage enemies stealthily in many situations if you choose to. The melee combat is actually a viable option now and done much better and even the gun-play is greatly improved with a "zoom" feature to improve aim, and grenades are no longer worthless, they will become a handy dandy addition to the expanded arsenal.
The sound and voice acting in the game are simply perfect. The music crescendos as the fighting is intense and a solemn quietness at moments of sadness will have you feeling emotions that before now only movies and more "story driven" games would allow.
There are so many amazing moments, will have you gasping in awe only to realize your character just had the exact same reaction. A helicopter causes a hotel to topple and the ground quakes as you begin frantically for a way out and utter "holy crap!" only to have the on screen character utter a similar line.
The game draws you in, gets your heart racing, and is a roller coaster ride that sadly eventually has to end. Or does it? No, after you finish the single player campaign you can always go online, and battle it out in 5v5 combat or many of the other modes of online play. The multiplayer is excellent and the only draw back is the amount of time you will be waste with it, don't plan on going on any dates or feeding the kids once this bad boy takes over your life.
All in all, I must say the game is perfection, the culmination of action gaming over the last 10 years. If you own a PS3, you need to experience this game. It's that simple. If you enjoy playing games, you will enjoy this one. One of the greatest gaming experiences you will ever have, and for me, easily the greatest single player experience I have had in the last 10 years of gaming.
