this FAQ I simply won't respond!

Castle Crashers has no official names for the weapons, and no official names
for most of the bosses, so in these cases they have logical made up names.

Castle Crashers was first announced way back in early 2006 and since that point
suffered a couple of delays that pushed it back over a year. Now it's finally
here and is everything everyone wanted it to be. Full of stunning visuals,
wonderful music and addictive gameplay it's one of the longest XBLA titles
around, and certainly one of, if not the best.

\-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Castle Crashers uses very simple controls that you can get used to very
quickly and easily.

Movement
-------------------------
Movement around the game is all done by the left analogue stick. As you'd
expect, your speed is dependent on how far you tilt it. After a short time you
begin sprinting which you can see starting as the smoke trail that follows you
suddenly gets bigger. You can jump about with the (A) button.

Melee Attacking
-------------------------
Your primary attack buttons are (X) and (Y). (X) is used for quick, light
attacks whereas (Y) is used for heavier attacks. Mixing the 2 up allows you to
use various combos. (LT) will let you block most attacks, however some magic can
still penetrate and hit you.

Attacks
-------------------------
(Y) next to enemy - Throws the enemy away from you
(Y) on downed enemy - Stamps on the enemy
(X)(X)(X)(X) - Quick light combo
(Y)(Y)(Y) - Heavy combo with a spinning attack in the middle
(A)(A) - Spinning air attack follows jump (lvl 2)
(Sprint)(X or Y) - Sprint Combo (lvl 4)
(X)(Y) - Uppercut that launches enemies skyward and helps you stay
                      up too (lvl 8)
(X)(Y)(X) - Spinning attack follows uppercut (lvl 8)
(X)(X)(Y) - Headbutt that stuns enemies for a short time (lvl 16)
(X)(X)(Y)(Y) - Upwards slash follows headbutt (lvl 32)
(X)(X)(X)(Y) - Elemental combo, last attack is very powerful and uses
                      your character's element. (lvl 25)
(X)(X)(X)(Y)(Y) - Powerful diving spinning attack follows elemental attack
                      (lvl 50)

[Thanks to MegadanXzero for finding out the levels for me]

Magic
------------------------
Every character has a total of 4 magic attacks at their disposal.

(RT) + (Y) - This is your basic attack. It can attack multiple enemies
and generally the range increases with your magic level
(RT) + (B) - At level 5 magic you will unlock this move which is your
projectile attack. It can be used in midair.
(RT) + (Y) midair - At level 10 magic you will be able to use your initial
magic attack in midair. For some characters it is the same,
but for most it will be like your projectile attack.
(RT) + (A) - This move lets you perform a magic assisted jump, damaging
the enemies around you and letting you jump very high. It
is unlocked with lvl 20 magic.

Items
------------------------
Pressing the (B) button lets you use your currently equipped item. Using (RB)
and (LB) you can select which item this is. Throughout the course of the game
you will find a bow and a boomerang (which stuns) to attack with, potions to
heal you, bombs to attack and blast open walls, a spade to dig up holes in the
ground, and a horn.

Archery
------------------------
Selecting the bow and pressing (B) lets you fire off arrows. Their power
depends on your agility, which also effects how fast you can fire them. When
maxed, your arrows will fly perfectly straight, and phenomenally fast.

There are currently xx characters known about in Castle Crashers, all of which
are listed below with details on how to unlock, all their magic attacks and
a comment on their usability.

Area Magic = RT + Y
Projectile Magic = RT + B
Aerial Magic = RT + Y in air
Magical Jump = RT + A

Grey Knight      -> Stove Face
Barbarian        -> Killer Beekeper
Thief            -> Snakey
Conehead
Peasant          -> Civilian
Iceskimo         -> Brute

Red Knight
------------------------
Unlocked by : Unlocked from the start
Element : Lightning
Area Magic : The Red Knight's area magic is unique in that it can be held
to inflict sustained damage. The actual attack unleashes a
				   lightning stream.
Projectile Magic : Lightning ball that hits a single enemy
Aerial Magic : Same as projectile
Magical Jump : Jump with bolts of lightning from the floor

The Red Knight is certainly one of the most powerful characters in the game.
His area magic is defastating against bosses and groups of enemies thanks to
the ability to charge it and hold it down, dealing immense amounts of damage.
One way to gain exp "legitly" with the Red Knight is to fight the Troll boss on
insane. Because of the number of minions spawned, it's very easy to catch up to
10, or even more in your stream of lightning. This is because of the way the
exp gaining system works on a mix of damage and number of hits. Make sure you
bring 5 pots.

[Thanks to Zeragon for that levelling tip]

Orange Knight
------------------------
Unlocked by : Unlocked from the start
Element : Fire
Area Magic : The Orange Knight can fire a stream of fire towards foes,
setting them alight and doing damage over time. It can hit
foes that do not fall down several times.
Projectile Magic : Fire ball that hits a single enemy
Aerial Magic : Same as projectile
Magical Jump : Jump with fire rising from the floor

The Orange Knight is a pretty decent Knight to begin with. His fire attack which
burns enemies after they are hit deals a fair bit of damage and hits multiple
times on bosses. However, once you get to Lava World, playing on your own is
extremely difficult without a decent level of strength thanks to their fire
resistance.

Blue Knight
------------------------
Unlocked by : Unlocked from the start
Element : Ice
Area Magic : The Blue Knight's area magic rains chunks of ice down from
the sky that can freeze enemies. The length of freeze is
dependent on magic level, as it the number of chunks.
Projectile Magic : Icicle that freezes a single target
Aerial Magic : Same as area magic
Magical Jump : Jump with a fist of ice to push you upwards, can also freeze

The Blue Knight is an invaluable addition to a party. The ability to freeze
foes helps you keep control of any situation. They are not very powerful on
their own, however, and their magic depletes mana extremely rapidly making it
tough to play with just magic.

Green Knight
------------------------
Unlocked by : Unlocked from the start
Element : Poison
Area Magic : Poison blasts with a small range that can poison multiple
enemies dealing damage of time, dependent on magic level
Projectile Magic : Poison prijectile than can poison single enemies
Aerial Magic : Same as projectile
Magical Jump : Jump with a blast of poison from the floor

The Green Knight's poison is even more effective over time than the Orange
Knight's fire, however the very short range makes it tough to use in
multiplayer.

Alien Hominid
------------------------
Unlocked by : Having a single achievement in Alien Hominid
Element : Fire
Area Magic : Alien Hominids area magic is a very large projectile that
can hit several enemies on impact, setting them alight.
Projectile Magic : Single shot that hits 1 enemy
Aerial Magic : Same as projectile
Magical Jump : Jump as if you're being sucked up by an alien spaceship

Alien Hominid cannot pick up any weapons in the game (You can however pick up
the pitchfork in the first level) which makes him a pretty poor character since
you can't use weapons to give you damage bonuses. His area magic is also pretty
poor and he doesn't unlock any characters when you complete the game with him.

Grey Knight
------------------------
Unlocked by : Killing the Barbarian Boss
Element : None
Area Magic : Rains a number of arrows, dependent on magic level, from
the sky to hit multiple enemies
Projectile Magic : Bomb that explodes on impact (does not do splash damage) and
                   can set enemies on fire
Aerial Magic : Same as projectile but can hit multiple targets
Magical Jump : Smoke follows your character as you jump

Barbarian
------------------------
Unlocked by : Finishing the King's Arena
Element : None
Area Magic : Rains a number of arrows, dependent on magic level, from
the sky to hit multiple enemies
Projectile Magic : Throws an axe to hit a single enemy
Aerial Magic : Same as projectile
Magical Jump : Smoke follows your character as you jump

Thief
------------------------
Unlocked by : Finishing the Thieves Arena
Element : None
Area Magic : Rains a number of arrows, dependent on magic level, from
the sky to hit multiple enemies
Projectile Magic : Throws scimitars to hit a single enemy
Aerial Magic : Same as projectile
Magical Jump : Smoke follows your character as you jump

[BOS] BOSS WALKTHROUGH
\-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/

The minions you will fight in Castle Crashers don't vary all that much,
and certainly don't warrant an FAQ but the bosses can be awkward at first and
require different strategies to beat.

Ram-mobile
------------------------
Level: Barbarian War
Fairly simple boss this. He will ram across to the left, and then to the right.
Don't try to fight him at this point, just dodge him. Once he finishes moving
he'll move very slowly, firing bombs. If you can air juggle and not hit the
floor, these will never hit you making this a very easy fight to win. Every now
and again the top part will lift up and drop off 2 Barbarians. Just ignore them
and finish off the main boss.

Barbarian Boss
------------------------
Level: Barbarian Boss
Another easy boss battle to win. He has a few attacks. If you stand a long way
away he will deploy spikes which shoot out to hit you. Stand close and he will
either punch you, doing a fair bit of damage or smack you into the floor. Waggle
the control stick to get back up. The easiest way to tackle him is to once again
attack constantly in the air, and keep an eye out for his punches. When you see
him about to punch, move downwards and you should easily dodge it. Once a large
amount of his health has been depleted, he will start using an attack where he
drinks something and zooms backwards. He is invulnerable for this time so just
get out of his way.

Troll
------------------------
Level: Thieves Forest
The Troll Boss's gimmick is that he spawns trolls non stop from his head, but
can't actually attack himself. When the fight begins, head to the far right and
you can take down about a third of his health while he is almost off screen.
After that he will whizz about randomly each time you hit him, but he's still
fairly easy to beat.

Catfish
------------------------
Level: Catfish
The first hard battle you will face. The Catfish has extremely strong defence
which makes attacks against him almost worthless. To fight him properly, you
need to get him shot by the boat to stun him, giving you a short interval to
deal MASSIVE DAMAGE. Each time he rises up from the water he spits up a fur
ball. If this hits the boat, the short will misfire and miss the Catfish. So,
attack the fur ball to destroy it and move down in front of the ship to line up
the shot. Hold the left trigger in to block his attacks, and once the ship
shoots and stuns him, go in for the kill. He has 2 auxillary attacks. The first
is to hold his hand up and move it towards you to try and hit you. Just keep
moving about to miss it. After half his health is gone, he will instead act
like a shark and quickly move left and right in the water. Sit in front of the
ship again so he rams right into it to make him come back up.

Pipistrello
------------------------
Level: Pipistrello's Cave
Otherwise known as the Bat Boss. He flies around in circles pooping in you
which does a fair bit of damage as well as poisoning you so just dodge them.
When he lands attack him quickly while looking out for his tongue licks which
are a 1 hit kill on insane. Throughout the fight bats will emerge from the cave
on the right as well.

Conehead Groom
------------------------
Level: Wedding Crashers
He looks exactly like the Coneheads and you'll see him trying to marry the 2nd
princess. He has a fast spinning attack that should be avoided as it is very
painful. If you can get into a rhythm of hitting him as he gets up each time,
this fight will be fairly simple, otherwise it can be frustrating and may
require you to grind a bit. After some time he will sit at his organ which
fires bombs at you. The spots on the floor show where they will hit and are
pretty easy to dodge consequently.

Cyclops
------------------------
Level: Cyclops Fortress
The Cyclops can be tough to beat before you learn all of his attacks. It is
much easier to use ranged attacks than melee because his close range attacks
deal a lot of damage. In multiplayer this is particularly easy as 1 player can
attack him from behind while he uses his throwing knives attack. Beware that he
can jump across the coffin and fire pit.

Volcano
------------------------

Fire Dragon and Sock Puppet
------------------------

Mini Alien Ships
------------------------

Volleyball Game
------------------------

Cornflower Boss
------------------------

Medusa
------------------------

Ice Wizard
------------------------

Painter

[INS] INSANE MODE
\-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Once you complete the game as any character you unlock insane mode. You can
enter and exit insane mode as you please by using the "level" below the
Barbarian Boss (or pressing down at Home Castle). Your progress through the
game is separate between the 2 difficulty modes. Unlocking insane mode puts a
white skull next to your character in the selection screen, and beating the
game again on insane grants you a gold skull.

As its name implies, insane mode is very difficult. Enemies typically have
around 10x the hp of enemies on normal mode, and can even 1 hit kill you. For
this reason, it's almost impossible without 4 people and stacks of potions.
Not recommended for characters below at least level 40. Good defence is very
important, it is advisable to have it maxed before tackling insane mode.

[ANI] ANIMALS
\-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Animals follow you around the game and give you various bonuses to stats, or
help you find items as well as a few other unique abilities. They can be found
in the open, bought from shops or hidden from view.

The Animal Ark
-------------------------
The Animal Ark can be located on the left hand side of the Blacksmith's area.
Walk into the Ark to enter it. To "equip" a pet, simply walk over it. If you
are playing in a multiplayer game, the pet will shake if you do not have it
and therefore cannot equip it.

Animal Switching
-------------------------
Unlike weapons, animals cannot just be switched between players anywhere. The
only way to get them all is to go to where they are located and then switch
them between everyone who wants it.

Animal List
-------------------------
This is a list of the location, name and effect of all 26 animals in the game.
The list is in order of when you can get each animal provided you have the
spade, horn and access to sandwiches.

1) Mr. Buddy - Helps you dig faster
Start the level Home Castle and walk back to the left into the starting area.
On the far left wall is a pile of hay with a digging spot.

2) Owlet - Retrieves hidden fruit from trees
In the level Forest Entrance, at the very end before the actual forest entrance
go behind the bush, where you see musical notes rising up.

3) Seahorse - Lets you move through water quickly
In the level Thieve's Forest, you will see it in the open when you come across
the first stretch of water.

4) Troll - Lets you regenerate health slowly
Once again on Thieves Forest, the first area you see the Trolls (black furry
enemies) you will see the animal trapped behind a wall. Simply bomb 3 times to
the left on the crack in the wall.

5) Hawkster - Picks up fruit from trees and attacks fallen enemies
On Tall Grass Field, blow your horn outside the huts near the first patch of
bears. It will emerge from the right hand hut.

6) Rammy - Knocks down enemies
On the level Tall Grass Field, you will fight a mini boss using this animal.
Once you've killed him he is yours for the taking.

7) Burly Bear - Increases your strength (+2)
Yet again on Tall Grass Field, when you get to the section where you climb up
the cliff, you can actually pick up the boulder on the left by using a
sandwich which will let you enter a cave. Inside, bomb the cracked wall 3 times
and walk inside and to the right.

8) Bitey Bat - Chomps enemies heads
On Pipistrello's Cave, Pipistrello (the bat boss) will drop this animal when
you defeat him.

9) Monkeyface - Increases your luck finding items
This animal can be bought for 750 gold in the Church Store.

10) Meowburt - Increases agility (+2)
Start the level Cyclops Cave and exit to the left back to Parade. Meowburt will
be waiting there for you.

11) Snoot - Increases your strength (+2)
On Cyclops Fortress make your way through the level keeping at eye on the back
wall. You will eventually see a crack in the wall to bomb.

12) Spiny - Increases your defence (+2)
Buy this animal for 680 gold in the Volcano Store.

13) Cardinal - Helps you find secret items
Just before the final boss on Industrial Castle, the Brute will drop this.

14) Giraffey - Increases your exp gain by 10%
On Desert, the Giraffe can be found in a digging hole towards the end of the
level.

15) Install Orb - Attacks enemies with photon blasts
On the Alien Ship, after you start escaping look along the back wall. You will
see a gap. Walk through to grab the Install Orb.

16) Zebra - Helps you find food in grass
Proceed through Desert Chase until you come to the bit where you see an enemy
riding away on a camel. Run after him on a camel (or if you have decent agility
just run) and catch up to him. When defeated he will drop the Zebra.

17) Scratchpaw - Increases strength and agility
In the first (and only) room of Sand Castle Interior, bomb the back wall. You
can see Scratchpaw behind it.

18) Froglett - Picks up items with its tongue
Froglett is located in a digging hole about halfway through the graveyard on
Marsh.

19) Snailburt - Decreases agility (-5) while increasing defence (+5)
Once again on Marsh, Snailburt is right out in the open towards in the end.

20) Piggy - Food gives back more health
Buy Piggy for 585 in the Swamp Village Store.

21) Chicken - Increases Srength, Defence and Agility
On Flooded Temple, after emerging from the sewers you'll see a digging spot
between 2 fish statues in the background.

22) Beholder - Increases Magic ability
On the level Fullmoon, have the Cardinal equipped and on the hill section he
will grab a key from the 2nd hut. This key can be equipped as a weapon and used
to hit the door in the animal ark. The beholder lies behind it.

23) Sherbert - Helps you jump higher
Sherbert is situated in the Animal Ark above the door on the left. You can
reach him by uppercutting the door or using a magical jump.

24) Yeti - Prevents you from being frozen
Right at the end of Snow World, check behind the hut on the right hand side.

25) BiPolar - Mauls enemies and friends who are near death
In exactly the same position as Yeti you'll see a horn sign. Blow the horn next
to it and BiPolar will emerge.

26) Pazzo - Helps you find buried treasure
Bought for 750 gold in the Snow Store.

Simply walk into the frog's mouth to enter. Press X on a weapon to pick it up,
and stand next to it for information regarding its stats.

Weapon Switching
-------------------------
In a multiplayer game, and you want to obtain a weapon that someone else has
that you do not, have them use the weapon and begin a level where you know
there is a weapon (eg Tall Grass Field with the Lobster on the beach). Then
have them pick up the new weapon and you can pick up theirs. If you are not a
high enough level to equip it, it will disappear, but you have still unlocked
it.

Weapons Table
-------------------------
This is a list of every weapon that can be found in the game. Gaps have been
located using Alien Hominid and holding X along the back wall. Stashes are
defined by the pillars along the weapon frog.

Str = Strength
Mag = Magic
Def = Defence
Agl = Agility
Spc = Special bonus (C = Critical, I = Ice, F = Fire, L = Lightning)

I lost all my save data!
------------------------------
There are a couple of fixes for this at the moment:
a) While in Castle Crashes, sign out of your account, then sign back in
b) Begin a multiplayer game with 0 private slots, 4 max slots, hidden
characters turned on. Create the lobby and toggle ready, then back out to the
menu

Boomerang Levelling Glitch
------------------------------
Because of the way the Castle Crashers exp gaining system works, the boomerang
can be used against bosses to do enormous numbers of hits giving you lots of
exp. This is most commonly done against the Catfish boss. As he is about to
rise out of the water, charge up a boomerang throw and throw it behind him.
Move back to in front of his ship and hit the fur ball. Use the left trigger to
block yourself until he gets hit by the bomb then either stay here blocking or
move behind the ship to the far left, whichever is easier for you.

If the Catfish is stunned when he dies, or a bomb hits him after he dies, you
will get a graphical glitch that will force you to reset the game. This is if
the boomerang is hitting him at the time.

[Thanks to Zeragon for information on what causes the graphics glitch]

Fast money
------------------------------
At lowish levels the fastest way you can make money is by repeatedly fighting
the Barbarian Boss. Later on, I found the Painter boss with the
(X)(X)(X)(Y)(Y) combo to be very lucrative for money as well as exp.

Air Juggling
------------------------------
This is a very simple technique that will allow you to blitz through many basic
enemies. Simply jump into the air and mash (X) towards enemies to juggle them
into the air. Pressing (Y) occassionally will help you stay up by uppercutting.
If you can get enemies trapped between you and a wall, they will go down in no
time whatsoever.

[ACH] ACHIEVEMENTS
\-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Like all XBLA games, there are a total of 12 achievements giving you 200gs to
unlock. Most of them require you to perform specific tasks rather than just
progressing through the game.

Animal Handler (20) - Collect all of the animals
There are a total of 26 animals to collect. Check the list above for where they
all are. If you are doing this on multiplayer you must be the first to pick up
an animal (doesn't matter what) to actually trigger the achievements.

Arena Master (15) - Win 40 ranked arena matches
This appears to be glitchy at the moment and some people simply can't seem to
get the achievements.

Conscientious Objector (20) - Complete the barbarian area without attacking
once. This is a lot easier than it sounds. Just play it with a friend and have
them attack while you sit back and relax.

Deer Trainer (20) - Navigate the abandoned mill without hitting any obstacle
This is easiest to do on your own. Hang back right near the creature and follow
the actions of the deer in front of you. You can actually see the light coming
from the door before you get to them.

Glork (15) - Win 20 ranked All You Can Quaff Matches
Like Arena Master, this appears to be glitchy at the moment.

K.I.S.S (15) - Collect all four princess' kisses in a multiplayer game
Just as it says, for this achievement you must kiss each princess once in
any multiplayer game (doesn't have to be in the same session).

Maximum Firepower (10) - Using a catapult, fling a knight with maximum power
This is on the level Flowery Field. Just press X when the bar reaches the very
top. Easier than it may seem.

Medic! (10) - Resuscitate all of your fallen comrades
In a 4 player multiplayer game you must resuscitate each other player once
in any level.

Melee is Best (15) - Defeat any boss without using any magic
Pretty straight forward. The Barbarian Boss is the easiest in case you didn't
guess.

The Traitor (20) - Defeat any boss by playing one of his own minions
The eaiest way to get this is by completing the King's Arena and fighting the
Barbarian Boss with the Barbarian you unlock.

Traditional (20) - Complete the game using any character
Straight forward again...If done on multiplayer you must have done EVERY level,
not just the final boss.

Treasure Hunter (20) - Find and dig up ten buried items
Easiest to do on the desert level where there are tons.
