No i got the refurbished one and was actually wondering were it came from thought it was from collectors edition but you can get it on PS3 BTW SONY RULES !!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll find it in the first store you encounter, along with the first engineer suit you get in the game. The plasma cutter will be valued at 0 credits.

You don't need to activate your EA online pass. That's for the Riot Suit. I know that all you need is save data from Dead Space 1 because my ps3 isn't hooked up to the internet, and i got Dead Space 1 in a possibly less-than-legal way, so the only evidence that I have it is the save file, and it gave me the Refurbished Plasma Cutter.

Well i've entered all codes and i have plenty of saves from first Dead Space (old ones if this matters in some way?) and yet still i don't have this weapon. What now? Is there anyone who can clarify it step by step or something?

I heard it works only with American gamesaves....are you form the US?

I downloaded a US DS1 savegame and then the refurbished plasma cutter popped up. My US DS2 didn't accept the EU DS1 save data.

I have the same problem. I got nothing, I have multiple DS1 save files and I have Dead Space Extraction. Plus, I downloaded the iPhone game. You should get something from that to. But I got totally nothing!

So I did a little search on the almighty Twitter and found this:

Immediately I checked my DS1 game and indeed, I have a BLES00308 game.
Thanx EA, for screwing that up! But lets hope there will be a patch for that...

If you have a BLES00308 game, just download a DeadSpace1 US save and copy it to your PS3's savesfolder (don't need to load it or play DeadSpace1).
Then just start Dead Space 2 and you'll get the "Refurbished Plasma Cutter" unlocked display at startup.
And you'll get the gun in the store for free $0 cash.
I had this problem and this worked for me.

I download a saved game but it doesent work, my ps3 says "cant download the game because you are not the owner"... WTF? how can i play saved games (US) i have a BLUS30624

You cannot use other players saves to play DeadSpace 2.
It's locked to PSN account. So the uploaded DS2 saves cannot be used.

But you can download DS1 US saves to get the Refurbished PC, if you have EU/UK Dead Space2 game.

I only found out about this recently and created a save file for my old copy of Dead Space and then tried starting a new game in Dead Space 2, should I have just checked my other inventory slots after getting the jury-rigged Plasma Cutter? BTW my game code is BLES 01041 and I'm in the UK.
