  First off, thank you for choosing to read my guide on this wonderful game.
This is one of many guides that I have written and hope to finish. I try to be
as thorough as possible and will strive to find as many ways to complete said
tasks as possible. I wrote a guide for the original game and I hope you enjoy
this one as much as you did the first.

  Please note that other than the physical items on the map, the contents of
them are generally random. Any items that are specific to a chest or looted
corpse will be documented as such. Enemies that spawn are not random but the
items that can be stolen from them are. Codex updates will be noted and quest
acquisitions will be as well. All key notes will be bolded and in brackets as
such; [CHEST], [QUEST], or [CODEX]. The lists at the beginning of each section
will be in alphabetical order. Shops will only list rare items and gifts while
the Codex list will not contain Controls, Enemies, or Spell Combinations.

  The characters that you acquire are more than just those you control. They
interact with your character and have their own morals and opinions on things
that occur in the game. Your choices ultimately affect how they respond to you.

APPROVAL

  Your approval rating fluctuates from -100 to 100. The rating stops at 74
unless you are friendly or have a romance with that companion. You can achieve
the friendly status by doing that character's personal quest.

  Characters like to receive gifts and it's a great way to increase approval
rating with them. When you give them a gift the item disappears and approval
rating is awarded.

- Base approval bonus: +5
- If character likes the gift: +5
- For every prior gift: -1
- Character has negative approval rating: 1/2 value of bonus
- Minimum approval bonus: +1
- Maximum approval bonus: +10

PLOT ABILITIES

  Characters will gain inspiration through your leadership and approval rating.
There are four levels of plot abilities; minor, moderate, major, and massive.
Each upgrades the bonus the character receives to an attribute.

  As an adolescent he was taken to the Circle Tower by the templars, which he
despised as he compared it to a prison. He's a very talented mage and has
escaped from the tower seven times, only to be captured and brought back by the
templars. Despite accusations that he is a Maleficar, he is only an apostate and
wants nothing more than to be free. He is seen fighting darkspawn, surrounded by
dead templars. He greets the Warden with "I didn't do it", which is in reference
to the dead templars. His style and manner bears much resemblance to that of
Alistair, showing a rather laid-back and care-free attitude. Anders not only
joins your party, but you can invoke the Right of Conscription and put him
through the Joining to become a Grey Warden.

PERSONAL QUEST

  Speak with Namaya in Amaranthine (she's at the northeast) and agree to aid
Anders, you will gain the quest [FREEDOM FOR ANDERS]. Enter the Abandoned
Warehouse located near the merchants.

  Check the [CHEST] ahead then the [WOODEN CRATE], [ARMOIRE], and [CRATE] on the
other side for [LOREKEEPER'S MITTENS], [LOREKEEPER'S BOOTS], [BLOOD PROMISE],
[LOREKEEPER'S COWL], [LIGHTNING ROD], and [AQUA MAGUS]. Go north and run into
Rylock, who forces you to fight or give up Anders. Enter the northern room and
check the [BOOKSHELF] for [POTENT HEALTH POULTICE RECIPE] and [LYRIUM: THE VOICE
OF THE MAKER]. One [CHEST] holds an [ENCHANTER COWL] and [CHARM OF FLAME], the
other simply money. There is a [SHELF] in the back corner to be looted, do so
and leave to complete the quest.

  Not all the denizens of the Fade identify with darker emotions like rage and
pride. Some embody the nobler qualities found in humanity: faith, hope,
compassion, and justice. Justice is not a name, it is an identity. A victim of
magic gone awry, Justice has been torn from the Fade against his will and
trapped in the body of a dead Grey Warden. Lost and disoriented, he seeks a
guide to help make sense of this alien world and demonstrate what it means to be
human.

PERSONAL QUEST

  Once Justice has been recruited head back to Vigil's Keep and approach Aura.
This will start the quest [JUSTICE FOR KRISTOFF]. Head to the Chantry in
Amaranthine and go to the back southern end. Tell Justice that it was the right
thing to do for maximum approval.

  When Mhairi was a child, she was enraptured by tales of kings and nobles. All
she wanted was to be like them, to fight for what she believed. Betrothed to a
trader when she turned 16, she saw the life that lay ahead of her and enlisted
in the army instead. Her fierce loyalty and devotion to Ferelden earned her the
love and respect of her commanders and brothers-in-arms.

  Loghain's betrayal of Cailan and his death hit Mhairi hard, and when she
learned of the two Grey Wardens who quelled the Blight almost single-handedly,
she vowed to serve the Wardens. When the call came for volunteers to help
rebuild the order at Vigil's Keep, Mhairi jumped at the chance to join.

  The Howe name was once great, known across Ferelden  as honorable stewards of
their lands and protectors of their people's freedom. But then Arl Rendon Howe
betrayed the teyrn of Highever, assumed a title that did not belong to him,
threw his lot in with a regicide, and was slain for his deeds. And yet he was
the lucky one. He did not live to see his surname dragged through the mud, his
family stripped of titles and lands. It is Rendon's son Nathaniel who has
suffered for the sins of his father. He has been left with nothing, a pariah
forced to live by wits alone. All he knows is that the father he loved is dead
by a Grey Warden's hand and that those murderers have now installed themselves
in his childhood home.

  Speak with Groundskeeper Samuel after getting Nathaniel. He will mention that
his sister is alive and has married a shopkeeper in Amaranthine. You gain the
quest [THE HOWE FAMILY] after the conversation. Head over to Amaranthine to find
Nathaniel's sister near the merchant Henley. Your dialogue directly effects the
resulting approval but regardless the quest is complete.

  Oghren of Orzammar is known throughout Ferelden for fighting alongside the
Grey Warden who halted the fifth Blight. Some say Oghren was the hero's constant
companion; others suggest he merely rode on the Warden's coattails. But the
stories all agree on two important points: that Oghren is a beast on the
battlefield, and that he can easily imbibe liquids that would fell lesser men.
After the Archdemon was defeated, Oghren settled down with his old flame Felsi
and had a child. Those who know him say that he was truly happy, at least for a
time. But Oghren is a warrior born and bred, and, as he is fond of saying, you
can take a warrior out of the fight, but you can never take the fight out of the
warrior.

PERSONAL QUEST
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  Complete two main quests or raise Oghren's approval over 40 and enter the
Vigil's Keep Throne Room. Felsi will come in looking for Oghren, your dialogue
effects the approval given afterwards. You gain the quest [OGHREN THE FAMILY
MAN]. When Oghren's approval rating is over 75 return to the Throne Room to
have a dialogue with him and complete the quest.

  Raise Sigrun's approval above 40 and head to Amaranthine. Head past Aidan and
turn right heading past a dwarf. This starts a scene and in the end Sigrun feels
bad for what happened. Return to the Vigil's Keep Throne Room and Sigrun will
approach you. In the end choose "You're not the person you used to be." to get a
quest update. Head back to Amaranthine and in to the Crown and Lion and approach
Mischa in the midst of the tables. You can either give the ring to Mischa or
part ways with some sovereign.

  Raised as the first to her clan's Keeper, Velanna knows how much has been
lost, and her pride demands that her people lose no more. When you first meet
her she has been harrassing anyone who passes through the Wending Wood believing
humans have kidnapped her sister. She is nature's hand, an instrument of
vengeance, and she will never submit.

  Velanna is rather impatient and makes a similar impression as Morrigan from
Dragon Age: Origins. But while she usually likes to avoid pointless trouble, and
has a hatred of humans, she will willingly help people if shown reason. Dealing
with Velanna requires patience, many of her replies are snaps, and she dislikes
it when someone assumes something about her simply because she's an elf, she may
take some getting used to.

  This starts with a random encounter in the forest and you gain the quest
[VELANNA'S EXILE]. If you support Velanna then you can gain some approval rating
with her. Raise her approval over 75 and head to Vigil's Keep Throne Room to
have a conversation about her exile and end the quest.

  After the opening you are thrust into combat against three Genlocks. Defeat
them and speak with the survivor. You will gain the quest [THE ASSAULT ON
VIGIL'S KEEP], proceed north after your conversation. Two more Genlock should
attack, kill them and check the [BLOOD LOTUS] and [CHEST] nearby. Head back to
the road and go west, fighting off more Genlock. Loot the [BLOOD LOTUS] and the
[CHEST] then pass through the main gate. A few Darkspawn come out of hiding and
are easily dispatched. Head west and up the stairs to find a Terrified Merchant
under attack. Defeat the Darkspawn to save his life then check the [CHEST].
Further along is a [WOODEN CRATE] and a Vigil Soldier under attack.

  Continue back to the middle of the keep to find another Vigil Soldier. Head up
the steps and a pathway will appear along with some Darkspawn. Immediately head
west and aid the Soldier, he will die without your help. Saving him nets the
quest [A MEDICAL NECESSITY], up the stairs you will find two [WOODEN CRATES] and
a [CHEST] with a [STORMCHASER HELM]. Back in the central area is a locked
[CHEST] containing [LUCROSIAN'S SILKEN CORD], grab it and go east through the
gate to another [CHEST]. Aid the Vigil Soldier then rush south to save another
one, loot the [CRATE] for the [MEDICAL SUPPLIES]. Rush back to the Soldier to
finish the quest then enter keep.

  What you tell Mhairi affects her approval rating. Kill the Shrieks then go
east up the steps and through the door. Here you meet Anders who can join your
group. Follow the hallway to find a survivor, save him to start the quest [THE
SURVIVORS OF VIGIL'S KEEP] and loot the [WOODEN CRATE]. Head outside and defeat
the Darkspawn then loot the [CHEST] for the [BEASTMASTER]. Enter through the
other door and destroy the barricade and check the [WOODEN CRATE]. Use the lever
and clean up the mess of Darkspawn that come through. Pass through the now open
gate and open the left door to find a survivor.

  In the northern room is a Hurlock Emissary and his minions. The left room from
here has a [CHEST] and [WOODEN CRATE], the right room leads to another survivor
being attack by Darkspawn, save him and loot the [CHEST] for [SLEEPER]. Continue
right to find another survivor in trouble, save her to complete the quest then
loot the [CHEST]. Return to the previous room and go north making sure to check
the [PILE OF BOOKS] for the [SOULROT COATING RECIPE]. As you enter the next room
you will meet up with Oghren, lend him a hand and he should join your group if
you ask. Check the [PILE OF BOOKS] for a [GREATER NATURE SALVE RECIPE], [STAMINA
DRAUGHT RECIPE], and [LESSER STAMINA DRAUGHT RECIPE] and unlock the [CHEST] if
you can.

  Head through the door and continue north to find Rowland. After hearing his
story continue east, slaying the Darkspawn that attack. In the side room you can
find a [WOODEN CRATE], the northern room has two [CHESTS]. Exit via the steps to
reach the rooftop. Turn the corner to start a scene and prepare to fight. The
Withered can be frozen and knocked down, take advantage of these tactics while
you tank him. Afterwards a scene occurs and you can choose to keep Oghren and
Anders, unfortunately Mhairi dies in the joining.

  Speak with Mistress Woolsey, Seneschal Varel, and Captain Garevel to obtain
the quests [THE RIGHTEOUS PATH], [SHADOW OF THE BLACKMARSH], and [LAST OF THE
LEGION]. Start in the southwest corner and go clockwise around the room, looting
the [BOOKS] for [GRANDMASTER FROST RUNE TRACING] and [THE WARRIOR'S HEART]. The
next set of [BOOKS] holds [GRANDMASTER HALE RUNE TRACING] and [VERSES OF DREAMS]
and Ambassador Cera nearby can enchant items for you.

  Lastly, head to the [WEAPON STAND] and grab [DUMAT'S SPINE] then make your way
outside. Here you speak with a lady and ask about the thief, then ask to see the
letters and take the two quests available, [THE PRISONER], [A DAUGHTER RANSOMED]
and [FAR AFIELD] are added to the quest log.

  With order restored you can now roam the courtyard freely. Start by observing

  Over to the east are two [CHESTS] and a [KITTEN] that you can loot, south from
there is a [WOODEN CRATE]. Speak with Voldrik Glavonak to obtain the quest [COST
OF DOING BUSINESS] which basically entails paying 80 sovereigns to reinforce the
walls. Speak to Sergeant Maverlies to obtain the quest [IT COMES FROM BENEATH]
but don't go to the cave in just yet, instead head down to the dungeon. Check
the [SUPPLIES] for [SOAP ON A ROPE] and the [PRISONER'S EFFECTS] for [ORNATE
LEATHER GLOVES] and [THE BEAR'S EMBRACE]. Speak with Nathaniel to get some
insight on him, then you can execute him, release him, or invoke the Right of
Conscription.

  Afterwards speak with Varel and persuade, if you can, the Banns to support you
and your cause; you gain the quest [OATHS OF FEALTY]. Speak with Lord Eddelbrek
and you can get the quest [DEFENDING THE LAND]. Ser Tamra gives the quest [A
BREWING CONSPIRACY]. Talk with Varel about the lands and you have many options
as to which you want to defend. He will also give information about the so-
called conspiracy. Speak with Woolsey again to get the quest [TRADE MUST FLOW].
Now you can continue with the main quest or do a little side questing. Leave the
keep and head to the basement.

  Speak with Maverlies to head to the basement and have the men clear the path.
Loot the corpses and check the Mabari for a scroll to obtain the quest [ADRIA'S
PLIGHT]. Down the hall await Darkspawn, dispose of them and check the [CRATE]
then go south. Loot the [CRATE] and check the [STATUE] for [CODEX 173: THE GREAT
STRIFE]. By this time a Shriek Alpha and some Shrieks should appear. The other

LYRIUM POTION RECIPE], the [STATUE] gives a hint, and the [TORCH] opens a new
room. The [CHEST] contains numerous items including [TINGLER].

  Exit this room and enter the northern one to find a [LETTER] on [CODEX 269:
RESPONSE FROM RENDON HOWE] and three [CRATES], one containing [WEST HILL BRANDY]
Go back to the previous area and go west, Prisoner Ghouls will rise from the
ground but are easily taken care of with area of effect attacks. Loot the nearby
[HOWE CORRESPONDENCE] for [DELILAH HOWE'S LETTERS], a [CHEST], and [SOLDIER'S
CORPSE]. Speak to the prisoners, you can release them or leave them though it
affects approval ratings.

  If you can unlock the west door do so, if not proceed north and skip down to
the next paragraph. In the crypt are numerous [AVVAR SARCOPHAGUS] that will loot
a [TRICKSTER'S CAP] and [KEY OF KIVEAL] among other things. You can also observe
the [CRYPT STATUES] for codex updates. Once you move downstairs you will get
surrounded by skeletons, take out the archers first. The [SACK] holds a [HOWE
BOW], a great gift and bow for Nathaniel, grab it and use the [KEYHOLE - KIVEAL]
then return to the previous area.

  Head north to find Adria the Ghoul, who is easily controlled with stuns. Kill
her and the minions. Read the [LETTER] for [CODEX 268: LETTER TO RENDON HOWE],
loot the [KNIGHT] for a [GOLD EARRING], the [VERIDIUM DEPOSIT] for a [VERIDIUM
ORE], and finally Adria for the [RING OF MASTERY]. Advance a little further and
get the news on the blocked passage, then return to the keep. You can speak with
Herren to turn in your Veridium Ore if you want. Head to the east end to find
Groundskeeper Samuel who brings news of Nathaniel's sister; you obtain the
companion quest [THE HOWE FAMILY]. Head off to the Turnoble Estate when you are
prepared.

  You are thrust immediately into combat against Darkspawn. Move towards the
house and defeat the Ogre led group then loot the [CHARRED CORPSE]. Move east to
loot the [GOODWIFE VALENA TURNOBLE] for [CHASIND ARM] and some sovereign. Defeat
the remaining Darkspawn and check the [TEMPLAR CORPSE] for the [STORMCHASER
BOOTS]. Head to the Forlorn Cave when you're done.

  Here you can bargain with the bandits, even persuade them to give you the girl
first then turn on them. Deal with them how you wish, but the good decision is
to save the girl and not pay up. Mosley drops the [TOOTH OF THE MOUNTAIN-FATHER]
and a few sovereign. Return to the keep and speak with the Private. Accept
Bensley's Gratitude of 10 sovereigns to complete the quest. That's it for
sidequesting at the moment.

BUG-WARNING!

  It is possible to break the quests Smuggler's Run and Law and Order if you
do both. If you talk to the barkeeper before finishing Law and Order then you
have a negative reputation with the guards and then cannot turn in the quest
but then also will not find the Shady Character.

ALSO!

  Doing Law and Order can break a future characters personal quest. When the
bugs are fixed the warning will be removed, until then it is recommended that
you do ONLY the quest Law and Order.

  Head right to the [CRATE] to find a [DISCARDED JOURNAL]. Head north and a man
calls out to you, follow him. Speak with the Shady Character to obtain the quest
[SMUGGLER'S RUN]. South from here you will find two [CHESTS], one is locked.
East of here at the corner of the fences is [HOMER'S TOYS], one of which is the
[BELL COLLAR]. Head over to Colbert and question him as much as possible to get
an update on [LAST OF THE LEGION]. West of Colbert is a [TREE] that can start a
dialogue with Anders. As you continue further north a guard will give you a
letter, it updates the quest [A BREWING CONSPIRACY].

  Continue north and speak with Constable Aidan to gain the quest [LAW AND
ORDER] if you choose to side with the guards. Turn the corner west to see the

  Before you go any further it's best you do either Smuggler's Run or Law and
Order. Choose one then head to the proper section, Smuggler's Run at [04.03.02]
or Law and Order at [04.03.03]. The difference is whether or not the guards like
you and what items you get in the end.

                                SMUGGLER'S RUN                       [04.03.02]

  Head to The Crown and Lion and convince the barkeep to open the passage. Go
back to the Suspicious Character to receive the [SMUGGLER'S KEY] then enter the
cove. As you enter be sure to check the [TOY BOX] for the [TOY CHARIOT] then
continue until you are attacked by numerous Thieves. Defeat them and check the
[CHEST] and [PILE OF BOOKS] for the [DISPEL TRAP PLANS], the [CRATE] in the
corner contains [LOCKSMITH'S TOOLS]. Speak with the Smuggler Leader to receive
15 sovereign and an update to the quest.

  Head out to the city and go to the Battlements up top. Fight the City Guard
and the Sergeants until one drops the [GUARDHOUSE KEY]. At the north end of the
city you will find the door to the Guardhouse, unlock the door and get to the
roof. Kill the Lieutenant and his men then loot him for the [CELL KEY]. Check
the two [CHESTS] then head to the [CAGE] in the back. Here you can free Jacen
who is a master archer and have him aid you at Vigil's Keep. Return to the
Smuggler Leader to receive your reward of 20 sovereign and the [LANDSMEET
SHIELD].

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                                LAW AND ORDER                        [04.03.03]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  Speak with Constable Aidan to obtain the quest [LAW AND ORDER]. From here
head west to a Suspicious Character. Follow him around and kill the 5 groups of
Hired Goons until you receive the quest update. One of the Hired Goon Leaders
drops the [LOREKEEPER'S ROBE]. Return to Aidan for the quest update then return
to the house and kill the Shady Character to get the [SMUGGLER'S KEY]. Enter the
cove and check the [TOY BOX] for the [TOY CHARIOT]. In the next area check the
[CHEST] then the [PILE OF BOOKS] for the [DISPEL TRAP PLANS].

  The [CRATE] has [LOCKSMITH'S TOOLS], take them and check the [SMUGGLER'S
CACHES] to find [TRICKSTER'S GLOVES], [FEET OF THE NIMBLE], and various gems to
go along with some sovereign. Report to Aidan who is pleased of your work.

  From the merchant area head west to a locked [CHEST] then go north to Mervis
for a quest update on [THE RIGHTEOUS PATH]. Master Henley has a few things of
choice in his inventory if you so choose to purchase.

  Go left and north to find a [WOODEN CRATE] then go to the Merchant's Guild
Board. Accept the quests [THE MERCHANT'S GOOD], [MAFERATH'S MONUMENTS], [SER
ALVARD'S MISSING SWORD], and [KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN]. Turn south and
begin grabbing the [POISON] from Hemley's and Glassric's tables. East from him
is another bottle near some Commoners. Head north of the Guild Board up the
stairs to and grab the [POISON] then check the two [CHESTS] nearby for [WOOL
PADDING]. Speak with the nearby Suspicious Guard for interesting conversation.

  He is the Dark Wolf, and if you wish you may pay him 50 sovereigns for his
help. Go south then enter The Crown and Lion. Next to the door is the [BLIGHT
ORFANS NOTIS BORD] which gives the quest [THE BLIGHT ORPHANS?] and next to it
he [BLIGHT ORFANS DONASHUN TIN] which you can generously give 50 silver to
complete the quest. Enter the southern room and check the [CRATE] for [MACKAY'S
EPIC SINGLE MALT] and loot the [OIL]. The Innkeeper will give you Kristoff's key
and some information on his where-abouts.

  Proceed up the stairs and check the [BOOK] for [CODEX 101: THE CROWN AND LION]
then check the [CHEST] at the north. The northwest room has a locked [CHEST] and
[PILE OF BOOKS], which holds a [ELEMENTAL GRENADE RECIPE] and [ELEMENTAL POISON
RECIPE]. Use the key to enter Kristoff's room, check both [CHESTS] then the
[BOOK] for [KRISTOFF'S MEMENTOS], [SPIRIT CORD], [A LETTER FROM AURA] (which is
also [CODEX 258: A LETTER FROM AURA]), and [CODEX 243: KRISTOFF'S JOURNAL]. The
[MAP OF FERELDEN] updates the quest [SHADOWS OF THE BLACKMARSH]. Leave and talk
to Namaya to get the companion quest [FREEDOM FOR ANDERS]. The Dark Wolf should
be back outside, speak with him for a quest update. Head over to the set of
stairs but instead take the Stairs to Battlements. Loot the two [WOODEN CRATES]
then head back down.

  Head over to the [MARKETPLACE HANDBILLS] where you can start a dialogue with
Oghren. Head up the steps and examine the [STATUE] then loot the [POTTED PLANT].
If Wynne was alive at the end of Origins then she will be nearby, speak with her
for the quest [INES THE BOTANIST] and then she will take off. Check the
[CHANTER'S BOARD] to gain four more quests: [FROM THE LIVING WOOD], [PREYING ON
THE WEAK], [OUT OF CONTROL], and [A DONATION OF INJURY KITS]. You could turn in
the last one if you have the kits, if not enter the Chantry regardless. Near the
doorway is the [LOST AND FOUND] which contains a [KNITTED SCARF]. Talk to Ser
Rylien to find out what's going on with maleficarum in town.

  Check the [CHEST] on the left and speak with Alma to get the quest [TIL DEATH
DO US PART]. Check the south section out, loot the [ARMOIRE] then a [BOOKSHELF]
for [CODEX 059: PILGRIMS AND AMARANTHINE]. There are [BOOKS] holding a [BLANK
JOURNAL] and a [CHEST] in the northern sector. Leave the Chantry and head south
past the Crown and Lion. In the corner against the steps is a [CHEST], loot it
then head over towards the merchants in the west to trigger a conversation with
Delilah and finish Nathaniel's quest.

  Attack the nearby Rambling Elf, head back towards the middle to find another
maleficarum in disguise. Proceed south into the common area to find some Thugs.
Dispatch them and go west  killing the rest of the enemies. At the entrance of
Amaranthine is the last group of Thugs. Turn in your quests to Kendrick and head
up the stairs, slay the Mumbling Man. In the corner near Glassric is where the
Apostate Mage is hiding, kill and loot him for decent money. The Abandoned
Warehouse around the corner is the next stop.

  Check the [CHEST] ahead then the [WOODEN CRATE], [ARMOIRE], and [CRATE] on the
other side for [LOREKEEPER'S MITTENS], [LOREKEEPER'S BOOTS], [BLOOD PROMISE],
[LOREKEEPER'S COWL], [LIGHTNING ROD], and [AQUA MAGUS]. Go north and run into
Rylock, who forces you to fight or give up Anders. Enter the northern room and
check the [BOOKSHELF] for [POTENT HEALTH POULTICE RECIPE] and [LYRIUM: THE VOICE
OF THE MAKER]. One [CHEST] holds an [ENCHANTER COWL] and [CHARM OF FLAME], the
other simply money. There is a [SHELF] in the back corner to be looted, do so
and leave.

  Return to the Chanter and turn in any quests you have. Pick up [A DONATION OF
POULTICES] if you can from the board and turn it in. Go to The Crown and Lion
and check the back corner near the Innkeeper for a [NOTE FRAGMENT]. Leave the
bar and take the door near Constable Aidan and grab the [NOTE FRAGMENT] at the
end of this catwalk and check the [CHEST] on your way back. Head over to the
first house near the city entrance to find Karrem hanging from the ceiling. Loot
him for the [THIRD NOTE FRAGMENT] then return to Alma in the Chantry. Leave
Amaranthine now and either continue the main plot or continue with the side
quests.

  Head to Old Stark's Farm first where you start out in combat. Take out the
conspirators, loot them, and then make your way to Vigil Keep. You might get an
encounter along the way for the quest [TRADE MUST FLOW]. Speak to whomever you
saved at the Keep then talk to the Private, accept [SALVAGE OPERATION]. Head
over to Anselm's Reef and take out the Scavengers. Loot all the [SALVAGED TRADE
GOODS] and then go to Knotwood Hills. Defeat the Bereskarn and take the high
path. Loot the [RASHVINE] and kill the Hangman, read the [NOTE] if you want,
then return to the lower path.

  Cross the bridge and loot the [MADCAP] then the [CHEST] for [HIROL'S LAVA
BURST] and a [DISCARDED LETTER] which grants the quest [THE LONG-BURIED PAST]
and [CODEX 329: DARRAN LYLE'S MISSIVE]. Grab the other [MADCAP] and descend the
stairs, at the bottom Deep Stalkers attack. Kill them and head south to a [BAG]
that holds [MICAH'S LUCKY DEER FOOT], an item that starts the quest [LUCKY
CHARMS]. Go all the way north to a scene, save Sigrun and you can ask her to
join the party. Sort yourself out and be ready for a long trek; enter Kal'Hirol.

  Move forward to the [VIEW OF KAL'HIROL] and take the ramp down. Listen to
Jukka's speech then continue down the path. Slay the Darkspawn that hinder your
progress and get to the western corner. Loot the [CRATE] then cross the bridge
to the north to meet more Deep Stalkers. Check the [VASE] and [ANCIENT DWARVEN
CRATE] for [ANCIENT BOOTS] then make your way to the top. Kill the Darkspawn
that attack and look to the right of the opening for a [CRATE] containing a
[WHETSTONE]. Enter the northern area and defeat the new breed of Darkspawn, the
Childer Grub; loot the [DARKSPAWN CORPSES] and [VASES]. If you brought Sigrun
along she should have mentioned a secret entrance. On the west side you will see
the [HIDDEN SWITCH] in the statue's mouth which opens the door. Whichever way
you can, enter the Main Hall.

                            KAL'HIROL - MAIN HALL                    [04.04.02]

  If you entered via the secret passage you should be clear to the Golem Master,
make it your top priority. If not then beware the traps strewn across the floor
as you kill more Darkspawn. Rush to the east and kill the Golem Master,
essentially killing the Stone Golems. Loot it for the [GOLEM CONTROL ROD] and
continue east, use the rod on the [INERT GOLEM] and follow it's lead. The
southern end has a [CHEST], the northern some [SCROLLS] containing [MASTERPEICE
PARALYZE RUNE TRACING] and [PARAGON PARALYZE RUNE TRACING]. Follow the path east
and then south, making sure to check the western alcove for a [PILE OF BONES]
holding a [CRACKED BREASTPLATE] and [SCROLLS] for [MASTERPIECE COLD IRON RUNE
TRACING] and [PARAGON COLD IRON RUNE TRACING].

  As you go back east defeat the Corrupted Spiders and check the [NOTE] for
[CODEX 272: A SCOUT'S REPORT]. The south room has a [CHEST] but the hall that
is adjacent has a Disciple Scout. Defeat it and enter the room to find more
Darkspawn. The [SCROLLS] in the back are for [GRAVITY TRAP PLANS] and the
[MOLDY JOURNAL] is [CODEX 229: DAILAN'S JOURNAL]. Continue north and check the
rooms to the east for a [LYRIUM-INFUSED SKELETON] that holds [LYRIUM SAND], an
item that gives the quest [BOMBS AWAY!], and a [CRATE]. The other room holds a
[CHEST] containing [MASTERPIECE IMMUNITY RUNE TRACING], [PARAGON IMMUNITY RUNE
TRACING], and a [LYRIUM RING]; the [WALL CARVING] is [CODEX 168: THE FORTRESS
OF KAL'HIROL].

  Push north and fight off the last Darkspawn in this area. The Emissary drops
a [STAFF OF VIGOR] and [SHATTERED MAUL], grab them and check the [CRATE] then
make your way to the Kal'Hirol Trade Quarter.

                          KAL'HIROL - TRADE QUARTER                  [04.04.03]

  After an interesting scene move forward and enter the northern room. The
[SCROLLS] hold the [ELEMENTAL RUNE TRACING], [HIROL'S SARCOPHAGUS] has the
[GIRDLE OF KAL'HIROL] and some sovereign (it also unleashes the Steel Golems),
and the [WALL CARVING] is for [CODEX 169: THE PARAGON HIROL]. Head back and go
east, pummel the Darkspawn and go south to a small room. The [SCROLLS] contain
the [GREATER STAMINA DRAUGHT RECIPE], [DAILAN] holds a [PARTHA] and [BROKEN
SWORD] and the [COMMEMORATIVE MARKER] starts the quest [MEMORIES OF THE STONE].

  Make your way north then west to a [CRATE]. Further west the path leads to a
[PILE OF BONES] with an [ENGRAVED SILVER BRACERS], a [CRATE], and [LYRIUM
DEPOSIT] with more [LYRIUM SAND]. Make your way east along the path and down the
stairs to a battleground. Defeat the Darkspawn then check the [CRATE] and [IRON
DEPOSIT] for some [IRON ORE]. Run around the forge to another [CRATE] then head
over to the [DAMAGED AXE]. Approach the [REPAIR EQUIPMENT] near the Golem. Check
the newly created [REPAIRED EQUIPMENT] for [KALLAK], [HEIRSPLITTER], [VALOS
ATREDUM], [GREAVES OF HIROL'S DEFENSE], and [BREASTPLATE OF HIROL'S DEFENSE].
The [SCROLLS] contain [MASTERPIECE FLAME RUNE TRACING] and [PARAGON FLAME RUNE
TRACING], the [LYRIUM BUCKET] starts conversation with Anders.

  Run back around the forge and go south defeating the few Darkspawn. Observe
the [ANVIL] to start conversation with Oghren. There is a [PILE OF BONES] in the
corner and you can speak with Steafan. You can cut a deal with him and get a
[MASTERPIECE FLAME RUNE] out of it. Continue south to find another new breed of
Darkspawn called the Childer Hatchling. Keep going south until you reach a tomb,
to beat the puzzle follow the instructions.

  A [SARCOPHAGUS] emerges and contains [GAUNTLETS OF HIROL'S DEFENSE], [NATURE'S
BLESSING], and some sovereign. Head back to the previous area and go west, kill
the Childer Grubs that attack. Loot the [VASE] and [CRATE] in the next room then
fend off the ambush. Go south to the treasury and open the five [CHESTS] for
[MASTERPIECE STOUT RUNE TRACING], [PARAGON STOUT RUNE TRACING], [HELM OF HIROL'S
DEFENSE], [CARVED GREENSTONE], and various gems. Go back and head west as the
Childers attack. There is a [PILE OF BONES] along the way to a massive battle
at the end. You can go north and use the lever if you want to back track, south
takes you back to Knotwood Hills if you need a break. When you're set, go down
to the Lower Reaches.

  Start off going south until you enter a scene and eventually a boss fight.

| damage from ice spells, so utilize that and give Frostbrand Weapons to the  |
| melee. The loot starts the quest [GOLEM'S MIGHT].                           |

  Continue west and watch out for the Tentacles that pop out of the ground. At
the end of the area destroy the [CHAINS] to end the battle. Here you can have
Sigrun join permanently, gaining the quest [SIGRUN'S JOINING]. Take the exit to
the world map and return to Vigil's Keep. A scene occurs with The Mother on your
way and hopefully you have another encounter with Bandits and Ferret the Packrat
as well.

  Start off by talking with Voldrik to gain the quest [WHAT IS BUILT ENDURES].
Next, speak with Master Wade and Herren to gain the quest [A MASTER'S WORK].
Show Wade the Golem Shell to get a quest update and [CODEX 335: MATERIALS FOR
WORKING WITH GOLEM SHELLS]. Show Herren the Iron Ore you found and speak with
Dworkin. Show him the tablet to complete [MEMORIES OF THE STONE] and talk to the
Private to gain [A DAY IN COURT]. Talk to Sergeant Maverlies and head down into
the Deep Roads.

                          VIGIL'S KEEP - DEEP ROADS                  [04.05.01]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  Run west to the fork and go north. Check the [DARKSPAWN CORPSE] for [GOLDEN
IDOL OF KORTH], the [BOOK] updates a codex entry, and the [URN] holds the [KEY
OF KORTH]. Approach the [OFFERING] and do either of the following:

Option 1: Take the offering. This will give you 15 Gold and activate the two
          Steel Golems. 
Option 2: Add a Diamond to the offering. The same as option 4. 
Option 3: Add the Corrupted Icon to the offering. Desecrates the shrine. The
          Steel Golems fall to the ground and you receive nothing. 
Option 4: Add the Golden Idol of Korth to the offering. This will open a hidden
          compartment that automatically puts the two-handed battleaxe Frenzy
          into your inventory and removes the Golden Idol of Korth. 

Note: The Golden Idol of Korth sells for nearly 5 times as much as a Diamond, so
      from a money standpoint it's best to place a Diamond on the Offering.

  Regardless of your choice head south and defeat the two Hurlocks. Check the
[LYRIUM DEPOSIT] at the north for [LYRIUM SAND], unlock the [TRAPDOOR] at the
south for the [KEY OF HAAKON]. Continue west and go south the first chance you
get.

  Check the [ROCKS] at the end of the path for [ELVEN RUNESTONE] and then the
three [GEM CLUSTERS]. As you head back to the main road, Darkspawn ambush you.
West is the way to go, but when it dead ends head south. Check the [OLD BONES]
and open the gate, read the [PLAQUE] for [CODEX 255: ANCIENT VOWS]. Follow the
path to the [WARRIOR STATUE] as Skeletons emerge from the walls, one of which
drops the [TRICKSTER'S BOOTS]. Follow the path to an open room, The Dark Theurge
will appear. It's immune to frost damage and halfway through it's life a horde
of skeletons will join the fight.

  Observe the [STRANGE APPARATUS] to gain the quest [THE WRAITH'S VENGEANCE].
Loot the [URNS] to obtain the [TALISMAN OF RESTORATION], [CORRUPTED ICON], [CALL
OF THE INFERNO], and various gems. Follow the path to a set of [SCROLLS] that
hold [MASTERPIECE TEMPEST RUNE TRACING] and [PARAGON TEMPEST RUNE TRACING]. The
[CHEST] contains the [KEY OF THE LADY] and 5 sovereign. Loot the [DARKSPAWN
CORPSE] for [KEY TO THE CRYPT] and take out the Ogre Commander that drops the
[WASP'S STING]. Unfortunately, it comes back to life as the Possessed Ogre
Commander, kill it and return to the Keep.

  Return to the basement and go to the Crypt where you now have all the required
keys. Use them on their respective keyholes to unlock the middle door. Rush to
the bottom of the stairs and fight off the Avvar Lords, they are immune to
Spirit Damage. Loot them for random uniques and check the numerous [AVVAR
SARCOPHAGUSES] for [WOLF TREADS], [MASTER LYRIUM POTION RECIPE], [SUPERB STAMINA
DRAUGHT RECIPE], [DAISYCUTTER], and [VENTURE]. Examine the [CRYPT STATUES] for
a codex update. Return to Dworkin to finish [BOMBS AWAY!] then enter the Throne
Room.

  Examine the [BOOK] behind Sigrun to start a conversation. Speak with Varel to

more to perform Sigrun's Joining. Leave the keep and set out for Amaranthine.

  After the scene you gain the quest [TRADING TROUBLES]. Check the [BARREL] for
some [FINE SILKS] and the [BROKEN CRATE]. Move up and take out the scavengers,
grab the [RASHVINE] to the west, then loot the [WOODEN CRATE], [BARREL] which
contains [FINE SILKS], and read the [SCROLL] for [CODEX 266: ORDERS TO THE
MILITIA]. Head east and fight off the Charred Sylvan then go south to the [BLOOD
LOTUS] and [CHEST] with more [FINE SILKS]. One of the scavengers up north has a
[FINE SILK] as well as the [BUNDLE OF CLOTH], but not the nearby [CHEST].

  You are thrust into battle against more Sylvan and bandits from the east. Be
sure to loot the corpses for more [FINE SILKS]. Return to the campsite and go
west to the [ENGRAVED STATUE] for [CODEX 247: THE CANTICLE OF MAFERATH]. Head
north to a [RASHVINE], a [CRATE] with [FINE SILKS], and then [ELFROOT]. Don't
cross the bridge but continue east to another [CRATE] with [FINE SILKS]. Go up
to the [ENGRAVED STATUE] then check the [CHEST] for [FINE SILKS]. Head south to
find two more [ENGRAVED STATUES] and a [BLOOD LOTUS].

  Once the area is looted cross the bridge at the north end for a scene. Follow
the path up to the top where another Charred Sylvan is. Go south to a [SCHOLAR]
who holds a [STRANGE STONE] and [BATTERED JOURNAL] for [CODEX 331: A SCHOLAR'S
JOURNAL]. Grab the [ELFROOT] and check the [GRANITE DEPOSIT]. Go north to the
[BLOOD LOTUS] and loop around to find Darkspawn. Grab the [RASHVINE] behind the
[ENGRAVED STATUE] then check the [CHEST]. Head down to find another two [CHESTS]
then proceed south towards the statues. Grab the [DEATHROOT] and speak with the
[STATUE OF WAR] and agree to help him to gain the quest [BROTHERS OF STONE].

  Speak with the [STATUE OF PEACE] to gain incite on his brother. If you slay
the Ancient Magister and talk to the statue of war then you are rewarded with
[THE WINTER BLADE]. If you instead choose to calm the Statue of War and speak to
the Statue of Peace you will gain the ability to make [POTENT STAMINA DRAUGHT],
[MASTER STAMINA DRAUGHT], and [GREATER SPIRIT BALM] (though you appear to
receive nothing, check your Herbalism to find them there). South from here are
two Ancient Sylvans, slay them and loot the [ANCIENT SYLVANWOOD]. Head down to
the [MISSING STONE] and place it then follow the instructions to complete the
puzzle.

  Loot the [MYSTIC CHEST] for [ILLUMINATION] as your prize. Further south is a
[CORPSE] with a [BRONZE SEXTANT] on it and a [DEATHROOT] nearby. Speak with Ines
here and offer to help her for a quest update. As you head west you will
encounter The Old One that drops [HEARTWOOD], an item that begins the quest
[HEART OF THE FOREST]. Head over to the [MADCAP] and [ENGRAVED STATUE] then
proceed north up the western wall. You will encounter some Shrieks along the way
but kill them and make it back to the top. Go north where you went to the
Darkspawn camp, you should find the [NORTHERN PRICKLEWEED] there. Grab it and
return to Ines and she gives you recipes for [SUPER HEALTH POULTICE] and [SUPERB
LYRIUM POTION].

  Return to the top area where you fought the Sylvan. Head west to more Sylvan
then hook around the corner to [RASHVINE], [DEATHROOT], and an [ENGRAVED
STATUE]. Go west to more [RASHVINE] and another [ENGRAVED STATUE]. Loot the
nearby [CHARRED CORPSE] and move slightly south of the Corpse Pile to find an
Ancient Sylvan, loot the [ANCIENT SYLVANWOOD] and go further south to a [BLOOD
LOTUS]. You become surrounded by Blight Wolves, but they are easily dispatched.
There is an empty [CHEST] nearby, go west from it and destroy your foes. Loot
the [DARKSPAWN CORPSE] then head back southeast towards a [MILITIA SURVIVOR].

  After you learn some vital information the Darkspawn sneak up on you. The
Emissary drops an [ELVEN TRINKET], grab it and then the [MADCAP] below. Defeat
the spiders that drop in then check the [DARKSPAWN CORPSE] and [COCOON] for
[ASH], return to the top of the hill. On your way back go just north of the
Makeshift Lean-To and kill the Ancient Sylvan for another [ANCIENT SYLVANWOOD]
then go east of there to find the last one.

  The lady continues to be belligerent, defeat the Sylvan and wolves then go
after her. From the top path take the small path west to a [MADCAP] and [CHEST].
Go south to the [FERELDAN SWORD] to catch the lady. Convince her that the
Darkspawn played the Elves against the Humans and show her the trinket. She will
ask to come with you, let her if you want. Approach the [ELVEN CORPSE] to start
dialogue with Justice. The nearby [CRATE] has an [ELVEN PRAYER FOR THE DEAD].
Grab the [BLOOD LOTUS] then contents of the [WOODEN CRATE] and [CHEST]. Head
north and defeat the Darkspawn then enter the Silverite Mine.

NOTE - BUG WARNING

  Sometimes during the capture scene you will awake and be naked instead of
with lesser garments. This is a sign that last Experimental Subject will not
appear thus not giving your character's gear back. It happens most frequently
when you have Andruil's Blessing, Key to the City, or Life Giver on the Main
Character. To avoid the bug, simply take off all your gear before entering the
mine.

  Check the [SCROLL] for [CODEX 260: A MINER'S LETTER] then go to the bottom
where a scene occurs. Convince Seranni to give you the key then leave the cell.
Defeat the Darkspawn and grab the [HOLDING CELL KEY] from their corpses. Open
the one to the [DWARF CORPSE] and the other of the [FRACTURED STONE]. Head north
into the Architect's Lab, open the [CHEST] to your left and check the [BOOKS] to
your left for [MASTERPIECE FROST RUNE TRACING], [PARAGON FROST RUNE TRACING],
and [PHYLACTERIES: A HISTORY WRITTEN IN BLOOD]. Examine the [JOURNAL PAGE] for
[CODEX 257: THE ARCHITECT'S JOURNAL] then [EXPERIMENT NOTES] for [CODEX 263: THE
ARCHITECT'S NOTES]. Use the [EXPERIMENT CONTROLS] to extinguish the flames, do
so by using the left, right, left, then right again.

  Head back to the cells and open the one at the northern end to reach the
[CHEST] in the lab, it contains [DRAGONSPITE], [BLACKBLADE TUNIC] and some
sovereign. Exit the cells at the southern end and use the Ballista to take out
a bunch of Darkspawn. Make your way to the bottom area, through the door and
defeat the Emissary led enemies. Observe the [BRICK WALL] to the right to open a
secret chamber with a [CHEST] containing the [BLACKBLADE HELM] and a [PILE OF
BOOKS] with the [MASTERPIECE HALE RUNE TRACING] and [PARAGON HALE RUNE TRACING].
Continue south to a scene, defeat the Experimental Subject and Dragonling it
releases.

  Grab someone's gear and re-equip him/her, check the [FRACTURED STONE] and head
east to more [STONES] containing [SHINY MALACHITE]. Further south you will meet
Keenan, an unfortunate Warden, who grants the quest [LAST WISHES]. Follow the
path around to a horde of Darkspawn, defeat them and check the [SOLDIER CORPSE]
and the Experimental Subject for more of your gear and a [SPYGLASS]. Going south
you will encounter another Subject wearing someone else's equipment along with
any of it's friends.

  Loot the [SILVERITE DEPOSIT] for [SILVERITE ORE] then get your gear back. Now
that you are properly re-equipped head east, south at the split for a [LYRIUM
DEPOSIT] holding [LYRIUM SAND] and a [WOODEN CRATE]. Head north to meet the
Hurlock Dragon-Tamer, kill it and grab the [LEG-CRUSHER] and [KEENAN'S WEDDING
RING] from it's corpse. Take out the Drake and grab the [FRESH DRAGON EGG] and
[DRAKE SCALE] from the corpse. Return to the main path and go south to meet a
Darkspawn Necromancer and it's Animated Dead.

  Further south is another Drake and more Darkspawn. Once you reach the ruins
take the room east. Loot the two [CHESTS], [CABINET], [PILE OF BOOKS] and the
[LETTER] for a [RING OF DISCIPLINE], [ELEMENTAL TRAP PLANS], and [CODEX 256: A
LETTER FROM THE ARCHITECT]. Continue south to an open room with the [CHEST]
containing all your gear and Armaas the merchant. You can convince him to trade
with Vigil's Keep and persuade him to trade you at a discount. Continue south
until a scene occurs and you are pitted against two Dragon Thrall.

  Do what you can to keep them grounded, they can be frozen and stunned. Simply
focus on one then the other. Loot them after the scene for [SHOCK TREATMENT],
[THE SLIPPERY FERRET'S GLOVES], and [LANDSMEET SHIELD]. You can also gain the
quest [VELANNA'S JOINING] if you choose to keep her. Exit via the south and to
get a scene then head for Vigil's Keep.

  A revolt is on the verge of occuring unless you can convince the peasants
otherwise. Intimidate or Persuade them to leave or simply kill them. Talk to
Wade about the Heartwood and [CODEX 336: MATERIALS FOR WORKING WITH HEARTWOOD].
Speak with Herren to finish one quest then speak with Voldrik to finish another.
You can work on improving your approval by entering the Throne Room and talking
to your companions if you want. You can also turn in a quest to Mistress Woolsey
for some good sovereign. Yuriah should have some new wares worth checking out
too. Do not miss the opportunity to make Velanna a Grey Warden, you won't get
another. When you're finished here go to Amaranthine.

  First stop, Mervis, in the marketplace. You can persuade him to give you more
money then he initially wanted. Turn in another quest to Kendrick then enter the
Crown and Lion and check the Blight Orfans Notis Bord. Accept the new quests
[THE BLIGHT ORPHANS (AGAIN)], [MOONSHINE FOR THE CHILDREN], and [THE SERMONS OF
JUSTINIA II]. Talk to the Barkeep and purchase the [ANTIVAN BRANDY] and then go
up the steps to find Nida for a quest turn in. Head back downstairs and turn in
the first quest at the "donashun" box.

  Enter the Chantry and grab [THE SERMONS OF JUSTINIA II] then take your leave.
Turn a quest in to the Chanter and go to Hubert's Den in the Marketplace (the
entrance is next to Octham). Check the [CRATE] for ["DRAGON PISS"] and take out
the Moonshiners, then loot the [CRATE OF MOONSHINE]. Leave Amaranthine once
you've turned in the quests and head for the Blackmarsh.

  Proceed forward to the Alpha Marsh Wolf who in turn calls more allies. Loot
the [RASHVINE] and check [THE BLACKMARSH] for a conversation with Nathaniel.
Head into the middle area and defeat more wolves then grab the [BLOOD LOTUS].
Loot the [CHEST] and check the [SKELETON] for a [TATTERED LETTER] and [EMPTY
POISON BOTTLE] to start the quest [THE TRAIL OF LOVE] and add [CODEX 332:
BONNIE'S ANGRY LETTER]. Grab the [RASHVINE] and head north to the [DRAGON BONE]
to start the quest [THE LOST DRAGON BONES]. Use the nearby [BONE SLOT] and check
the Veil Tear, can't pass it yet so head back down and go east.

  Observe the [DARKSPAWN CORPSE] for a quest update, Blighted Werewolves then
attack. Check the [HIDDEN CLUE] and then the [MABARI CORPSE] for a [CATGUT].
Open the [ANCIENT LETTER] and grab the [ANCIENT NOTE] for the quest [THE BURDEN
OF GUILT] and [CODEX 328: KARSTEN WILDE'S LAST TESTAMENT]. Kill the enemies and
open the [CHEST] in the corner. Head east and check the [TOWN RECORDS] for
[CODEX 235: RECORDS OF THE BLACKMARSH] and grab the [TOY HORSE]. Run around the
wall and grab the [MADCAP] then head north.

  Grab the [RASHVINE] and approach the [VEIL TEAR] to get the quest [TEARS IN
THE VEIL] and [CODEX 037: TEARS IN THE VEIL]. Head up to the camp area and
examine the [HIDDEN CLUE], the [ROCKS] for [KRISTOFF'S LOCKET], and the [COT]
for a quest update. Defeat the Blighted Shadow Wolves that attack and loot the
corpse for [MARK OF THE DIVINE]. Head east and fend off the attackers, loot the
[CHEST] and turn the corner to find a [DRAGON BONE] and [ELFROOT]. Head back to
the campsite and go northwest behind it to a [RIPPED PAGE] for [CODEX 251: THE
BARONESS'S SECRET].

  Run up the hill and grab the [DEATHROOT] and [DRAGON BONE]. Go east of the
camp and check the [CHEST] for the [GREATER ELIXIR OF GROUNDING RECIPE] and
[SKULLCRUSHER]. Kill the werewolves and check [KARSTEN'S HIDDEN CACHE] for a
few gems, then head east. Kill the Childer Grubs and run past Kristoff, taking
the [MADCAP], [DRAGON BONE], and checking the [CHEST]. Speak with Kristoff to
trigger a scene and be thrust into the next area, part of the Fade.

  Defeat the Darkspawn then exit at the north towards a [LYRIUM VEIN]. As you
turn the corner a few Lesser Shades will strike followed by a Greater Shade. Go
up the ramp and defeat the Desire Demons then use the [VEIL TEAR APPARATUS].
Turn around and grab the [ESSENCE OF CONSTITUTION] for a permanent +1 boost to
Constitution. Follow the path west into the corner where more Desire Demons
guard the [VEIL TEAR APPARATUS], kill them and use it. Move down between some
[RUNESTONES] and a [LYRIUM VEIN] then follow the steps to complete the puzzle.

  6  LV  1          The numbers correspond to the Runestones, LV is the Lyrium
                  vein that is between the two so you understand how everything

  Use the Runestones in the following order: 5, 2, 3, 6, 1, and 4. This will
summon Lesser Rage Demons and then Greater Rage Demons. Touch the [RUNIC
PEDESTAL] to solve the puzzle. Move up the ramp on the west to an [ESSENCE OF
WILLPOWER]. Return to the Runestones and go south, turning left at the fork
towards the [ESSENCE OF STRENGTH] then run north to the [ESSENCE OF DEXTERITY].
Defeat the Greater Rage Demons and turn right towards the [VEIL TEAR APPARATUS].
Kill the demons and use it along with the nearby [ESSENCE OF MAGIC].

  Head south past the Villager and fight off the Lesser Shades. Further south is
an [ESSENCE OF CUNNING], turn the corner to find a Lonely Soul who gives the
quest [A MAIDEN IN DISTRESS]. Defeat the skeletons and enter the Shadowy Crypt.

  Defeat the risen corpses and try to catch the lonely soul. In the second area
kill the enemies and go south to an [ESSENCE OF CUNNING]. At the east end is
where you will find the Lonely Soul. Intimidate or fight it, which is actually a
Hunger Demon in disguise, then grab the [ESSENCE OF MAGIC]. Open the [COFFIN] on
the right side to reveal an [ESSENCE OF CONSTITUTION]. Leave the Shadowy Crypt
and return to the Blackmarsh Undying via the south exit (where you grabbed the
Essence of Cunning).

  Pass the village watch and turn left down the path to an [ESSENCE OF STRENGTH]
and [BOOK] on [CODEX 166: THE BLACKMARSH]. Hug the western wall and run to the
[ESSENCE OF DEXTERITY], east from it is an [ESSENCE OF WILLPOWER]. Head to the
center of town and speak with Justice. You can side with him and charge the
gates to start a fight with The First or speak with the Baroness first and make
a deal with her. Either way a battle ensues, it ends when The First is defeated
so gang up on him and crowd control the remaining enemies by either freezing or
stunning them. If you sided with the Baroness temporarily then you get the
following options:

NOTE - Stat increasing options are currently bugged.

- You know blood magic? Teach us. (Unlock Blood Mage Specialization)
- Make me healthier. (Increase Constitution by x)
- Improve my magic. (Increase Magic by x)
- Make me more cunning. (Increase Cunning by x)

 You are then thrust out of the Fade back to the Blackmarsh where Justice
has somehow taken Kristoff's body.

  You have to take Justice but fortunately he is a tank. Loot [THE FIRST] for
numerous potions, [THE MOTHER'S CHOSEN], and [ARMOR OF THE SENTINEL]. Move
forward towards the Fade Portal, as you do a Shade and Revenant strike. Turn
the corner and head north to the [IRON CHEST] that contains the [BOOTS OF THE
SENTINEL]. Move west towards the [RUNIC PEDESTAL] and another [FADE PORTAL],
once again guarded by Revenants. Loot the pedestal for the [GLADIATOR'S BELT]
then head north to another [IRON CHEST] that holds the [GAUNTLETS OF THE
SENTINEL].

  Proceed southeast from the campsite to another Fade Portal. South from there
is the last one, north from it lies another [IRON CHEST] and it holds the [HELM
OF THE SENTINEL]. Open the gate to start a scene then the fight with The
Baroness.

|  The Baroness can hit a little hard but if you face her away from the group |

| will eventually break through the gate and fire balls of death at you, at   |
| this time you need to bring a mage to freeze her because she will pick up   |
| a melee character and attempt to kill him/her. Stick to it and it will end  |
| swiftly.                                                                    |

  Turn the corner and go east through the gate. Kill the werewolf and check the
[DEBRIS] for an [ORNATE SILVER BOWL]. The nearby [CHEST] contains the [DISPEL
GRENADE RECIPE], [DISPEL POISON RECIPE], [MISDIRECTION CLOUD TRAP PLANS], and
[RING OF SEVERITY]. The other [CHEST] contains the [MOMENTUM RUNE TRACING],
[GRANDMASTER SLOW RUNE TRACING], and [PARAGON SLOW RUNE TRACING]. Grab the last
[DRAGON BONE] then go through the crates and containers to find [SER ALVARD'S
SWORD].

  Make your way out and head to the dragon skeleton area. Get the fourth clue
and go back to where Kristoff was lying for another. Head to the runestones to
find the last clue, go back east to find a [FLOATING BOTTLE] containing [CORIN'S
PROPOSAL] and [LETTER OF PROPOSAL]. Return to the dragon skeleton and put the
bones in their slots. Head up the stairs if you dare challenge a dragon.

|  The Queen is immune to lightning based attacks so don't bother. It has all |
| the characteristics of a normal dragon in that it claws and tailswipes and  |
| cannot move without flying. It can be frozen and rarely stunned so those are|
| your best bets. Tank her off to a side and use ranged to take care of it.   |
| At several points in the battle she will ball herself up and release a eight|
| Charged Wisps. If they reach her then she is healed, fortunately they can be|
| stunned and frozen. Once they are all defeated the Queen returns and the    |
| cycle starts over.                                                          |

Keep. You get a scene and maybe fight with some mercenaries on your way.

  If you check the [TREE] near the Chantry you can start a conversation with
Velanna. With Justice in the party you can enter the far end of the Chantry and
go south to find Aura. Head to the Chanter to turn in another quest then enter
the Crown and Lion and enter the room in the back. Check the [CHEST] and speak
with Nida to finish the quest. Check the "Blight Orfans Notis Bord" for the
quests [THE SCAVENGER HUNT], [THOSE SWEET ORPHANS], and [A PRESENT FOR MELISSE].
Grab the [HERBS] and the [KITCHEN KNIFE] in the side room.

  Leave the bar and head north to find the [PITCHFORK], then around behind
Master Henley for a [PIE]. The [SHOE SOLES] are near Glassric and in the east
corner is the [DOLL]. The [HAMMER] is above the commoners outside the bar. Enter
the Chantry and place the herbs on Leanna's bed then head outside past the main
gates to find a [SCARECROW]. Head through the gates and turn right to find the
[SOFT GROUND] then turn the quests in. Pick up [MAKING AMENDS] and go to the
Chantry, grab the [FLOWERS] in the back then place them in front of Melisse's
house.

 Leave Amaranthine and head to Vigil's Keep. Talk to Varel and decide who to
take with you to Amaranthine.

  Destroy the attacking Darkspawn and keep the City Guard alive. A scene
occurs and you are forced to make a choice. If you choose to defend the City
of Amaranthine continue to read, if you choose to save Vigil's Keep then go to
section [04.14.00] and continue from there. Rescue any survivors, heal them to
ensure they live. Head down to the marketplace and stun, freeze, or kill the
Darkspawn as swiftly as you can. Shrieks will hault your progress but kill the
quickly and progress up the stairs. Rush to the aid of the City Guard
Commander and defeat the Ogre.

  Quickly make your way south and defeat the Darkspawn, hopefully you saved all
seven groups. Check the two [BARRELS] and then backtrack, looting the corpses as
you go. There is a [SACK] and [BROKEN CRATE] if you neglected to loot them on
your escapade. Head towards the Chantry to rest, open the [CHEST] and enter the
main area. Check the [CABINET], [CHEST], [WOODEN CRATE], and [PILE OF BOOKS] on
your way out. Fight your way to The Crown and Lion and save the City Guard up
north.

  Once inside you must strike down the Disciple General, it drops the [ENDURING
PATH]. Head up the steps and clear the area, check the [CHEST] in the side room.
Loot the [SACK] in the northern room then enter the Smuggler's Cove. Check the
[CHEST] when you come in and defeat the Disciple General that holds [FLEMETH'S
BROOMSTICK] and [ELEMENTALIST'S GRASP]. Open the [WOODEN CRATE] and destroy the
remaining Darkspawn. Exit so you end up in the city outside the walls. This time
you must also fight an Armored Ogre Alpha. Freeze or stun the Ogre and work on
the General. This General drops the [LAMPPOST IN WINTER] and you are given the
quest [DEPTHS OF DEPRAVITY] after the scene, head to the Lair of the Mother.

  You appear in the Throne Room, speak with Varel about the condition of the
keep. When you are ready go outside and follow Captain Garevel. You should
notice the battle commands available to you underneath the minimap. You can use
them but do so only when necessary. The quest update informs you that the gates
are under siege, defeat the Disciples that are attacking. Once the front gates
are secured the Captain will notify you that eastern wall is under attack. This
is a good time to use Dworkin to bombard the area where all the Children are
gathered, just be sure to avoid friendly fire.

  The front gates are beginning to fall at this point. Use what you need to
slay the Armored Ogres that are attacking. Dworkin's bombarding is perfect for
the entrance and you can use the Archer to pick off the Ogres. When they are all
defeated another scene occurs. Speak with the Medic who happens to sell quite a
few poultices and other healing supplies. When battle resumes continue to fell
your enemies, the Medic retreats.

  As the front gates are secured once more, Disciples attack the courtyard.
Midway through this fight an Armored Ogre Alpha appears in the Keep. The Herald
appears once the Armored Ogre Alpha is defeated, he waits at the front gate.
Defeat him to end the battle and gain the quest [DEPTHS OF DEPRAVITY]. When you
gain control over your character be sure to loot the dead for [BARBED FISTS],
[BLESSING OF THE DIVINE], and [HELM OF DRAGON'S PEAK]. You can return to the
Throne Room if you need to resupply, when ready head to the Lair of the Mother.

  Advance down the path to the Disciple and fight off the other enemies. Further
along you will find a [PILE OF BONES] holding [FADEWALKER]. Keep going to find
an Armored Ogre amongst other things. Branch off at the south to a [NOTE] on
[CODEX 167: DRAKE'S FALL]. Keep south until you find more Darkspawn, a High
Dragon swoops in and crushes them.

|  This battle will be fought much like the Queen of the Blackmarsh with the  |
| exception of a second phase. Face the dragon away from party and leave any  |
| ranged near the entrance. You can freeze the dragon but that's about it.    |
| Avoid the Flame Breath and keep the tank healed in order to take down the   |
| angry High Dragon.                                                          |

  Hook a right when you enter and open the [CHEST]. Proceed down the steps and
take out the Heretic Disciple and Armored Ogre. Check all the [FLESH PODS] to
find [WILL OF THE UNYIELDING]. Examine the slots to place crystals in them that
you have picked up. Progress northeast and check the [FLESH POD] as you go. Kill
the Darkspawn and remember to loot them for [CRYSTALS]. Progress down the steps
and you are given the option to ally with the Architect. If you choose to ally
with the Architect you will be given his aid against the Mother, if not then
you choose to kill him. Some party members will agree/disagree and could leave
the group based on your choice if you cannot persuade them.

|  The best thing for this battle is Greater Warmth Balms. It essentially     |
| makes his fire barrage worthless. Move everyone but your tank to the steps  |
| and take out Utha first. Move your melee in only if they have taken a Balm  |
| to prevent taking the massive fire damage. Be sure to dispel the Affliction |
| Hex that will undoubtedly hinder the Warmth Balms. Focus on keeping the     |
| group alive more so then doing actual damage. If you can survive the fire   |
| damage then the battle is yours.

  Check the [FLESH PODS] and fill the sockets once more. Progress northwest and
loot the [FLESH POD] for [VESTMENTS OF URTHEMIEL]. Fight onward and down the
steps to another Heretic Disciple. The [CHEST] is a tough one but you should be
able to open it if you have high cunning. With the towers ready head into The
Nest.

  Approach The Mother and pay attention to the scene. Time for the final boss
fight.

|  The Mother will cast Glyph of Neutralization on top of the Giant Tentacles |
| rendering them immune to magic and draining you of mana. If your friends    |
| begin to fall you can revive them with the Tower of Healing. The best way to|
| avoid devastation is run to the back of the cave and fight the Tentacles    |
| there. Use the Tower of Trauma immediately to stun them and take them out.  |
| Use the Tower of Flame to aid you on the Tentacles and when the Childer     |
| Grubs appear use the Architect's Pyre in conjunction with area of effect    |
| spells to neutralize the enemies. Once The Mother is the only enemy up      |
| simply use your melee to damage her and your mage/s to heal and AoE the     |
| Grubs that appear. When she picks up a player be sure to freeze her to stop |
| massive damage from being incurred.                                         |

Version 0.50 - Initial version of the guide. Just pumping this out to get
20 March 10    started. Expect rapid releases until the walkthrough is done.
               If you want to see some other stuff in here that I didn't have
               (as well as the original game guide) let me know or else you

Version 1.00 - Most likely doing an Item List since I have an easy way to do it
1 April 10     this time. The guide only goes through one way of completing the
               game at the end. I'm working on getting the other ways done but
               I needed to play through Origins again to get back into the game
               a bit more. I apologize for the slow releases, I'm normally fast
               on this stuff.

Version 1.10 - Restructured the guide and the order that the main quests are
11 April 10    to be done. Added the Characters section. Will work on a dialogue
               section and Item List for next release.
