There are 36 plus there are gonna be more with dlc

statusActually they said it was going to be about 40 characters and Phoenix and Haggar are the 33rd and 34th characters for MVC 3
On the disc there is data for 41 characters. One of them is the final boss. So on the disc there are 40. I believe only 36 are playable and the other 4 are unlocked after purchase in the store.
Well there is 34 to start with from what i counted and i beat the story mode 4 times and unlocked 4 more so hopefully there is a couple more.
Its 34 plus 4 unlockable plus 2 known dlc plus 1 end boss = 41
Excluding the Boss and DLC, there will be 36 playable characters. 32 from the start, with 4 more unlocked through general play.
There are currently 2 characters set for DLC that we know of, but we can probably expect more.
