+---- INTRODUCTION [1.00] ----------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Journey had been on my radar since it was first announced. I'd heard good
thing about the previous games developed by thatgamecompany, but had not yet
tried any myself. Journey looked absolutely amazing, so it seemed like a great
place to start. I was certainly not disappointed.

Journey is a short, but stunning game. What it (intentionally) lacks in
gameplay complexity it more than makes up for in art, design, and mystery.
Journey is a world of both true beauty and true terror, and you will surely
experience both as you play through the game.

I would definitely advise against using a walkthrough on your first play
through. There aren't many places you can really get stuck and, as they say,
the journey is just as important as the destination. When you've beaten it
once, then come back here to finish mopping up anything you might have missed.

If you're maybe looking through here before buying the game to get a feel for
it, you can stop right there and go buy it now. I'm certain you'll love it.

+---- GAME BASICS [2.00] -----------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

If you're looking for a place to get started, or want to get a feel for the
game without ruining anything, this is a great place to begin. Read on for a
mostly spoiler-free introduction to how the game works and what your purpose is
in the world of Journey.

+---- YOUR GOAL [2.01] -------------------------------------------------------+

Though it is never explicitly stated, your goal in Journey is to climb to the
top of the huge mountain in the distance. You know, the one with the glowing
beam of light shooting from it.

There is zero dialogue and only a handful of character interactions throughout,
so the game invites you to make your own interpretations of the story based on
the environment around you. The ruined environments of desert and snow are
stunning to behold, but hold an eerie sadness to them. What you make of it is
up to you.

Scattered throughout the game are a number of glyph panels. These panels give
some insight into the state of the world and your journey. But, aside from
these and a few vague cutscenes between areas, what you make of Journey is of
your own choosing.

I could make a pun about the journey being more important than the destination,
but I'll save that for later. Look forward to it! In the mean time, enjoy this
ascii art I had fun making:

                                                                   _  _
                                                                  | || |
                                                                 /     /\
        ~~/|                                                   _/     /  \_
          _|__                                                /  /\__/     \
~~~~~~~~~/~~~~\~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~/  /    \      \
The most important thing, though, is enjoying the game for the experience that
it is. Don't rush through it! Go explore!
+---- MOVEMENT AND CONTROLS [2.02] -------------------------------------------+
The controls in Journey are very simple and easy to use.
---------------------------------
|  THE CONTROLS AND CONTROLLER  |
---------------------------------
Movement is controlled via the left analogue stick, and the camera through
either tilting the controller or using the right stick. You can 'ping' by
pressing the circle button, which allows you to 'speak' to any companion with
you as well as interact with a few objects in the game. Once you obtain the
power, you can jump/fly by pressing the X button.
	+------------------------------+------------------------------+
        |           BUTTON             |          WHAT IT DOES!       |
	+------------------------------+------------------------------+
	+------------------------------+------------------------------+
        |             X                |       Jump (Hold to fly)     |
	---------------------------------------------------------------
        |             O                |         Ping/Interact        |
	+-------------------------------------------------------------+
        |         Left Stick           |            Walk/Run          |
	+-------------------------------------------------------------+
        | Right Stick/Sixaxis Movement |             Camera           |
	+-------------------------------------------------------------+
        |           START              |            Menu/Sit          |
	+-------------------------------------------------------------+
        |           SELECT             | Used in certain menu options |
	+-------------------------------------------------------------+
---------------
|  THE SCARF  |
---------------
You may not realise it at first, but you have a small scarf that holds your
power trailing behind you. This scarf can be extended by collecting various
glowing symbols, and is used up when jummping/flying. To restore its power,
simply interact with any other object in the game made from cloth. The longer
your scarf, the higher and further you can jump and, eventually, semi-fly.
If you're playing online and have a companion, walking into each other can also
restore its power. This is particularly helpful in later sections of the game
and, if you're really coordinated, you can do some pretty cool flying stuff.
+---- ONLINE ASPECTS [2.03] --------------------------------------------------+
Journey takes a rather unique approach to online play. You cannot choose who
you play with, but when you play online, you will bump into other people (who
look identical to you) on the same journey as you.
You can only ever have one companion at a time and are completely unable to
communicate with each other. All you can do is send out a little signal by
'pinging' and it's up to your companion to interpret what you mean by it. As
the game is not overly complex, this is never a major issue and one that I
actually found quite enjoyable.
You can play the game offline too, and your experience with it will not be any
worse for it. If you're going for certain trophies, I'd advise playing offline
on a second of third play. In fact, playing solo is quite a different
experience emotionally and I'd advise you trying it at least once; even if you
can play online.
At the end of the game, you will learn the PSN usernames of everyone you
bumped into. It's up to you if you then want to send them a message or just
completely forget about them.
----------------------------
|  COMMUNICATION MINI-FAQ  |
----------------------------
It's difficult to work together with a companion when you don't really know
what they're aiming for. Here are a few suggestions that might help you use
your pinging power more effectively.
-- MOVEMENT RELATED --
----------------------
"FOLLOW ME"
Repeatedly tap circle.
"STOP"
Stop moving then hold down circle for a large ping.
"BRB/AFK"
Ping rapidly a few times, then press START to sit down.
-- PLATFORMING RELATED --
-------------------------
"UP THERE"
Tap circle twice then perform a short jump.
"JUMP"
Stand on edge, perform a short hop, tap circle once.
-- OTHER --
-----------
"WATCH OUT"
Rapidly tap circle, move the opposite direction.
"SORRY"
One short tap after something bad happens.
"I'M HAVING FUN"
Tap circle at random intervals while walking alongside your companion.
"KEEP GOING!"
Tap circle with short intervals. Only understandable during finale of snow.
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
+---- WALKTHROUGH [3.00] -----------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
If you're stuck on a section of the game or looking to learn a few new things,
then you've come to the right section! This walkthrough aims to be as detailed
as possible about different events in the game and the best ways to complete
them.
If you're just looking for a guide to the glowing symbols and glyphs, skip
the walkthrough and head down to the section dedicated to it. It's far more
concise and will save you all the excess reading!
+---- THE BEGINNING [3.01] ---------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Glowing Symbols: 1 [ ], 2 [ ], 3 [ ]         || Ancient Glyphs: 1 [ ]       |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Watch the opening cutscene and then your game will truly begin.
You can move the camera either by tilting the controller or move the right
analogue stick. Move it around until it faces the hill in front of your
character and then use the left stick to stand up and start moving.
There's nothing else to see at this point, so head straight for the big hill
in front of you with the small objects sticking out of it. Climb it to the
top and a brief sequence will playing showing you your goal: that huge mountain
way off in the distance. Well, let's get started then!
Move forward to slide down the sand dune. You can slide like this down any
hill or, if you're lucky, across the flat when the wind is blowing the same
direction. Aside from moving quickly and being fun, there aren't any other
benefits to it.
Head through the field filled with the strange markers and for a small ruin
just in the distance. Once you get to it, walk up the rubble by pushing
forward and climb on top of it. Here you will find your [GLOWING SYMBOL #1].
This symbol is particularly special as it gives you your first piece of scarf
and allows you to jump.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
On a second playtrhough, you might wonder if you can avoid taking this symbol
and acquiring the scarf at all. Well, you can! If you skip picking up this
symbol and the scarf you can still complete the whole 'Beginning' level.
However, as soon as you arrive at The Bridge, you are automatically given the
scarf at minimum length. Aww.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Give it a shot and jump off the building, heading east through more of the
markers. You can only jump when your scarf is filled with power. You can see
when it's filled by the white pattern on it. To refill it, bump into any object
or creature made of cloth in the world. There aren't any yet, but you will meet
some very soon.
Head for another small set of ruins in the distance, and go around to the right
side to enter in through a decayed door. See that blank wall in front of you?
Hold down the circle button to charge your power. Release it near the wall to
light up the four becons and energise the wall. Doing so will reveal
[ANCIENT GLYPH #1]. These are a handful of these across the game to find.
Once you're done admiring the art, leave the ruins any way you wish and head
down the sandy slope to the area below. This is known as the central hub and,
once you've beaten the game, you can teleport back here at any time to select
a specific level.
For now, there's a few things we can do here. First, right near the central
pillar (to the right of it) is a small block with another symbol on top of it.
Use your jumping skill (press X) to leap up and grab [GLOWING SYMBOL #2]. If
you don't have any power left to jump, climb the central pillar manually then
leap down from the higher vantage point to land on it.
With that done, climb the central pillar and take a look over the left edge.
You should be able to spot [GLOWING SYMBOL #3] below. Jump down to grab it.
You can also grab this one by jumping up from below.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
See the six rooms surrounding the central pillar? This area is known as the hub
and you can teleport back here at any time after beating the game once. Each of
those rooms has a single teleport to a different level. The broken room holds
a special power once you collect all 21 glowing symbols in the game.
Also, in each room are blank panels on the wall. As you discover ancient glyphs
in each area, they will be reflected here. If any are still blank on your
second playthrough, you can determine where you're missing them!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you're ready, cimb the central pillar again and either use your circle
button power or walk into all the cloth to release the creatures locked inside.
Once they're free, hold down circle to have them help you. Once they give you a
little boost into the air, use your jump button to leap across the broken
bridge to the other side.
As you can see, the gate is locked. To unlock it, note the small pillars near
the triangular stucture. Either use your circle button power (the 'ping'), or
walk near them to activate them all. This will create a circle of light. Step
into it to be treated to your first cutscene.
Once that's done, the door unlocks, so walk on through.
+---- THE BRIDGE [3.02] ------------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Glowing Symbols: 1 [ ], 2 [ ], 3 [ ]         || Ancient Glyphs: 1 [ ]       |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
From your entry point, leap off the ruins and down onto the sand below.
As an aside, if you're aiming to get the 'Threshold' trophy, you will
definitely want to play offline for this section. See the trophy guide towards
the bottom of this document for more information. If this is you first play,
you can ignore that and just keep on going.
Right in front of where you land is another piece of cloth stuck in some
debris. Collide with the whole piece by jumping to release it. Doing so
builds the first part of the broken bridge that you need to cross. One down,
three sections to go.
From the first piece of cloth you free, head due west across some small rocks.
Towards the edge of the area you will find [GLOWING SYMBOL #1]. Once you've got
it, change your course and head towards the end of the huge bridge.
About halfway down, you should spot a collection of rocks with a couple of
large coth pieces flying from it. Climb up there and free both pieces by
colliding with them. Doing so will fix both sections three and four of the
bridge.
Once you're done, keep heading towards the rocks slightly to the left of the
bridge. If you look carefully you'll notice a small indent in the back wall
with a couple of sand waterfalls falling down in front of it. Walk through
the sand to find [GLOWING SYMBOL #2]. Head back into the desert and cross to
the other side of the bridge.
If you head roughly in a straight line from the last glowing symbol and then
beneath the brdige, you should see a small piece of cloth stuck towards the
corner of the area. Jump up there and free it. Doing so will release more of
the small flying pieces of cloth that can help you jump. Take a look at the
nearby rock wall and you'll spot [GLOWING SYMBOL #3] a little up the rocks.
Hold down circle to get a boost from the creatures and then jump to clear
the remaining distance and grab it.
Jump directly down from the symbol and turn around to face the sand waterfall
behind you. Walk right through it to a secret cave to find [ANCIENT GLYPH #1].
Leave the cave and head in a straight line back to near where you first
entered this place. Towards the start of the bridge you will find the final
large piece of cloth that needs rescuing. Free it, and your bridge will be
fully rebuilt. Cross over all four sections and you will arrive at more
small monuments that need activating. Do so, enter the circle of light, and
watch the cutscene.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
Take a look at that traingular monument again. Does it look familiar at all?
Doesn't it seem to resemble the white-cloaked figures in each cut-scene?
Hmm...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When that's done, the sand parts and a secret entrance is revealed. Head on
through.
+---- THE DESERT [3.03] ------------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Glowing Symbols: 1 [ ], 2 [ ], 3 [ ], 4 [ ] || Ancient Glyphs: 1 [ ], 2 [ ] |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
The desert is a highly confusing area and a difficult one to navigate you
through. There are only a handful of landmarks and you can't see them unless
you're near them. If ever in doubt, you can always find the direction you are
facing by looking for the huge mountain that is your ultimate goal. For the
sake of this walkthrough, we'll call that NORTH. The way you have just entered
the area from will be SOUTH.
           |------------------------------------------------------|
                                     SOUTH
If you just want to get through here as quickly as possible, it's very easy:
simply head for the mountain. There aren't any obstacles. If you want to find
everything, however, keep on reading.
From your entry point, head north until you find some debris with a piece of
cloth stuck. Free it to find a new type of flying carpet creature. Follow it
over the next hill to find more debris and another creature to release. Once
you have, climb the ridge in front of you and then head left.
Hopefully, you will be able to spot some small ruins just out to the west
amongst the sand. Head over there to find another piece of cloth to free along
with [ANCIENT GLYPH #1].
From the ruins, head due north over a couple of large dunes and you will see
a small tower nearby. Head over there and take a look through the ruins around
it. Free the nearby flying carpets and then, with their help (or not), jump up
to the top to find [GLOWING SYMBOL #1].
From the top of the tower, head south back to where you just found the first
ancient glyph panel. From that location, head east and back to the debris where
you freed Cloth #2. Head north, and very slightly east, from there and you
should spot a small ruin just down to the left side. Head on down there to find
[ANCIENT GLYPH #2].
Climb back up to the same ridge you just came from, but this time continue
heading south (ie. away from the mountain). The flying carpets will hopefully
show you the way again. Drop down over the ridge and keep heading south
(veering very slightly to the left). Head over another large sand dune and
you should pass right over a small yellow flower. This grants you the Mirage
trophy. Keep heading the same direction and you'll soon spot another small
ruin. Head on over there to find [GLOWING SYMBOL #2] and to free Cloth #5.
Once you have it, head back exactly the way you came and go back to the ruins
where you found the second glyph panel. From there, head north, and slightly
to the right (aim to the right of the mountain). Not too far away is another
set of ruins. Walk into the middle of them and, if there aren't any small
flying creatures there yet, wait a minute. Once there is, use them to boost
up to the top of the ruined wall and grabed [GLOWING SYMBOL #3].
Leap back down and now simply head towards the mountain. We're almost done with
the desert.
After reaching the end of the desert, you will enter a dark ruined area filled
with broken bridges and towers. Slide down the sand to the middle and work
your way up the tower. It's fairly straight forward, but at a few points you
will need to make use of the flying carpets to ascend higher. To grab their
attention, simply use your ping (circle button) power. Charge it up if
necessary.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
You can actually signficantly reduce the amount of time it takes to climb the
tower by jumping in a couple of useful places. Any time you jump up to a new
level, take a look around the opposite side of the tower to the way the path
goes. Often you can leap over the gap and skip that level entirely!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you reach the top of the tower, don't go straight up the stairs. Instead,
head around to the left of them. Follow the path and you'll find
[GLOWING SYMBOL #4] at the end. With that done, walk back around, go up the
stairs, and activate the small monuments.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
Take a look at the small stones directly in front of the traingular monument
that marks the end of the level. These actually reflect the glowing symbols
hidden on each level and light up when you find them. If any are still dark,
then you missed one! Check these at the end of each level.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When the cutscene is over, walk back down the stairs and interact with one
of the flying carpets to move onto the next area. Also, if you managed to free
all the flying carpets you will be awarded with a trophy at the end of the
area. If not, you can always come back and try again later.
Welcome to the surfing section! It's, uh, pretty much all downhill from here.
As soon as you enter the area you'll be on the slope. Try to go through as
many of those small archways as you can as you head down. Getting through 15
across the whole level will net you a trophy.
Near the start, as you surf, you should spot a tower pretty much straight
ahead of you. Head around to the left of it and, once you've passed it, quickly
pull back around to the right. Hopefully you will see a small, ruined bridge
in front of the tower. Surf up there and through it to get [GLOWING SYMBOL #1].
Don't worry is you miss it. On a second playthrough you can jump straight to
this level and try again.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
As you surf, with some clever jumping you can land on bridges or other parts
of ruins. Funnily enough, even though the surface is flat, you can't stop! The
game forces you to keep going downhill.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keep following the downhill until you eventually reach a tunnel. Once you do,
get ready. As soon as you exit the tunnel and the camera changes, head the
direction away from the camera. Look carefully and you will see
[GLOWING SYMBOL #2] sitting on a small piece of ruin jutting out from the side
of the mountain. Land on it if you can. If you miss, there's an alternate way
to get it in a moment.
Once you're down on the flat ground, locate the four large pieces of cloth
stuck in bits of debris around the center platform. They're all easy to see and
quite obvious. Interact with them to free them. Once you've done all four, head
across to the left side of the area (the opposite side from where you entered)
and take a look up a small grouping of rocks. Use the small flying creatures
to help you jump up there to find [ANCIENT GLYPH #1].
Jump back down and return to the center platform. Use the small flying carpet
creatures again to boost yourself up as high as you can. You can use your ping
(circle button) power in midair too, so use it on the second group to jump
even higher. Use the X Button to get the last bit of height needed to reach
the archway at the top. If you missed the second glowing symbol, turn around
and jump across to grab it.
When you're ready, leap off the archway and down to another section of
surfing. This area holds the most difficult to get glowing symbol of the game,
so get ready! Also, try to keep passing through the small archways to go for
the trophy.
Anyway, when you reach the first tower, head around the left side of it. Then,
as soon as you reach the second tower, surf around the left of it and up a
sandy hill. At the top, leap off a rocky outcrop and, with the help of a
flying carpet, jump across the gap. In the small valley you enter is
[GLOWING SYMBOL #3].
Once you've nabbed it, just keep surfing down the hill. After quite a lengthy
and beautiful sequence, you will reach the end of the level. Leap off the
edge and you'll fall down a massive chasm. When you hit the bottom you will see
the meditation area (signalling the end of the level) in front of you. Before
you approach it, head off to the left to find [ANCIENT GLYPH #2]. When ready,
head to the meditation area and activate the monuments.
+---- THE TUNNELS [3.05] -----------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Glowing Symbols: 1 [ ], 2 [ ], 3 [ ], 4 [ ] || Ancient Glyphs: 1 [ ]        |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Head into the darkness and around through the tunnels. Aside from admiring
the haunting beauty, there isn't much else to see at this stage. Once you spot
a few tubes running parallel to each other, it's time to really pay attention.
Stay next to the ones further on the right until you reach one that's angled
upwards out of the ground. Leap up on top of it and climb into it to find
[GLOWING SYMBOL #1]. When you have it, climb back out and keep on heading
forward.
The next section you arrive at makes it very much appear as if you're under-
water. All the pieces of cloth are swaying in the wind and look like kelp or
seaweed emerging from the ruined pipes. Head down and to the right. Use the
kelp-like cloth to ascend near the back right and climb up into two pipes
that criss-cross each other. In the middle is [GLOWING SYMBOL #2].
Keep ascending the kelp and heading towards the back until you can reach the
archway at the top. Climb through and you'll find cloth that looks like
jellyfish! Jump from one to another and keep ascending to the back of the room.
Once you do reach the exit, stop and turn back around to where you just came
from. Hopefully, with some good eyesight, you can see [GLOWING SYMBOL #3] on
top of the highest of all jellyfish a little way back. Use the jellyfish
and your jumping skill to get up there and grab it. Return to the arch and
head on into the next area.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
You can actually drop all the way down to the bottom of the room with the
jellyfish. It's an expansive, though rather boring and dark, area to explore.
Unfortunately, there's nothing down there at all!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leap down beneath the ruins and keep heaing forward until you enter into a
large open space with a massive serpant-like statue in the middle. Fair
warning: you will get a fright in just a second. As you get close, it will
violently spring to life and devour a flying carpet before leaving. That
serpent can't get you, so feel free to get as close as you like.
Head on into the next tunnel and follow the 'Z' shape of it. Don't worry
about the serpent statue. No more will attack... yet.
After emerging from the short tunnel, head immedietly to the left and up
the sandy slopes. Two serpents patrol this area using search lights. If one
spots you in their light, it will catch you and rip off your scarf. You
tend to lose about half its maximum length, so obviously you want to avoid
this. By staying on either side of the room, you can avoid them completely.
Choose the left side as there are two things to find there.
Almost immedietly up the left slope from hwere you enter, slightly around a
corner, is [ANCIENT GLYPH #1]. Stay on the left side of the room and keep
heading through it. Pass through a narrow gate and make sure to time it so
that no serpent will see you. Once through, head straight back up the left
slope to keep out of sight.
A little further down you will need to do the same thing again. When you
reach a broken pipe in the ground leap over it to stay hidden away on the
left side of the room. You can actually run right through the middle of it
and still hide from the serpents, but it's a much riskier move with no benefit.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
If you're doing this section with a companion and happen to get caught by a
serpent, run away from your friend! If you're standing next to each other when
the serpent attacks then you will both be eaten!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keep to the left and, not too far past there, look for a wall made of many
arches. Behind it is [GLOWING SYMBOL #4]. You can't see it from the side of
the room you enter, so make sure to search for it once you walk around the
other side.
We're almost done, so keep left and head on just a little more. Finally,
you will be forced to move back down to the middle of the room and pass
through a huge gate. You'll arrive at the top of the slope and, if you wait
a second, will spot both serpents waiting for you below. This is one of my
favourite, and most tense, moments of the game.
Don't worry about timing your descent with the serpents as they're going to
spot you anyway. Just leap down that slope and move at full speed all the
way. Don't stop for anything! Both serpents will inevitably spot you, but
move fast enough and you can keep them from eating you.
When you reach the bottom, make a quick dash for the monument at the back
and the bright flash of light will protect you from the beasts. Activate
the small monuments near the meditation area and your time in the tunnels will
be over.
+---- THE TEMPLE [3.06] ------------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Glowing Symbols: 1 [ ], 2 [ ], 3 [ ], 4 [ ] || Ancient Glyphs: 1 [ ]        |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
From your entrance point, head around to the left. You will spot a glyph
panel on the wall. Note that all the glyph panels in here, except for one,
are not hidden and all MUST be activated to progress. They are not included
in obtaining the ancient glyph History trophy.
Activate it, and a sort of mist/vapour/water substance will fill the chamber.
This yellow 'stuff' powers your scarf, so whilst you're in you can jump/fly
for as long as you want.
Head over to the left and jump out of the substance onto a platform. If you
look just to your right, you will see [GLOWING SYMBOL #1] on a piece of the
central structure of the room. Jump over, grab it, and then jump back to
where you just were. From there, use the small flying cloth pieces on each
platform to leap across to the next one. Repeat this until you reach the
second mandatory glyph panel. Activate it to raise the level of the substance.
This time, some cloth jellyfish have come with it. Instead of following them
up around to the left, go around to the right of the central pillar. On the
wall to the right, fly up as high as you can and you should see, behind the
grating, [GLOWING SYMBOL #2]. You can reach it by entering behind the grating
to either the right or left side of it.
With that job done, go back to the jellyfish and use them to ascend up to the
next mandatory glyph panel. Activate it to raise the substance level again.
Look over to the right as it raises to spot a cloth dragon (he's friendly)
emerge from the wall. Swim over to where it entered from and enter in the
small gap. In this small room you can find [ANCIENT GLYPH #1] in the center of
the room (release all buttons on the controller to submerge) and, in the same
room, look over to the left side, behind the cloth curtains, to find
[GLOWING SYMBOL #3].
Head out of that side room and back to the main chamber. Swim over to the
central column, and then around to either the right or left side of it.
Leap out of the water at the column and through the entrance-way into the
middle of it. Just floating there in the center is [GLOWING SYMBOL #4].
With all the side-quest stuff nearly done, leap up onto one of the platforms
out of the substance and continue to ascend. Follow the cloth pathways from
platform to platform and then activate the fifth mandatory glyph panel once
you reach it. The room is now fully filled and accessible.
Before progressing, there's one final thing to do. Drop back into the substance
and submerge yourself all the way down to the second floor of the central
column. Enter into it through either entranceway (like you did for the last
glowing symbol) and you will find an ancient, glowing, mysterious creature.
This earns you the Ancestors trophy.
When you're done, swim all the way back to the top of the tower. Climb up
onto it and activate the small monuments to trigger the meditation circle.
+---- THE MOUNTAIN [3.07] ----------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Glowing Symbols: N/A                        || Ancient Panels: 1 [ ], 2 [ ] |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
This is it. You've finally arrived at your destination. The base of the
mountain marks the end, but also the most difficult, part of your journey.
This is one section of the game that is made significantly easier if you have
a travelling companion. If you were not already aware, by colliding with your
companion you can recharge the power in each others scarves.
Whether travelling in a pair or alone, start heading forward through the snow.
It will become immediately obvious that your powers will do you little good
in this frozen wasteland. Your cloak begins to ice over and your power will
deteriorate. You can briefly charge if you find some objects or creatures of
cloth, but for most of this level you will be completely without it.
Walk forward beneath the bridge and up the small hill. From here, you will
notice some medium-szied monuments spread across the snow. Keep behind them
when the blizzard begins to blow, otherwise your progress will be badly
slowed. Move from monument to monument as you avoid the wind until you can
pass through a small crevice in the side of a cliff.
Once through to the other side, follow the small monuments through the snow
and up to a big rock. Walk around to the left side and keep following the
path up some stone steps. At their top, look for a small aclove just to your
left a little further one. Walk inside and use your charging circle button
power to activate all the small monuments inside. Doing so will fill the room
with light and give life to small small flying cloth creatures. Use them to
leap up, and them jump, to reach small platform at the top of the room. It's
there that you will find [ANCIENT GLYPH #1].
Jump back down and leave the small haven. Back out in the snow, head towards
the bridge. If you happen to fall off here you'll land back near where you
started the area and have to walk all the way back around! When you reach
the broken section of the bridge, use your charged circle button power to
bring some temporary life to the frozen cloth above you. Once it's within
reach, step onto it and use it to climb across.
Walk up the stairs to find yourself on a massive field of snow. Two serpents,
like in the tunnels, patrol this area, so stay on guard! Move to the left and
hug the cliff. Keep walking right beside it all the way across the field. It's
a bit of a hike, but eventually you should spot a medium-szied monument (the
same as the ones that protected you from the blizzard earlier). Walk towards
it and, just beyond it, is a cave in the side of the rock and ice.
Enter the cave and you will discover a small ruined building. Inside is the
very last collectible of the game: [ANCIENT GLYPH #2].
Continue on through the cave and emerge out the other side. Walk on a bit and
you should see pieces of debris scattered across the field. Run towards one
of the larger ones and hide inside it. Hang out there for a minute or two as
you watch the serpents fly around over head. When you feel confident they're
not about to come swooping in, run out of your hiding place and head for the
next nearest one. Rinse and repeat this process as you make your way across
the field. Be cautious, the serpents can often appear very suddenly. Mind you,
if you do happen to get eatn, it really doesn't matter much at this stage. You
will find out why shortly.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
You can actually have your scarf entirely eaten by the serpents if you are
attacked enough times. With no scarf at all you can still perform a short hop,
but that's it! If this does happen to you, don't worry as you don't need to
be able to jump again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finishing with the snow field will lead you to a large arch. Pass beneath it
and wander up the thin path beneath the two huge rock formations. Once you get
through to the other side, you'll emerge into a small area filled with dead
pieces of cloth. Briefly revitalise them to ascend up the back of the area and
through the arch at the top. Wind your way through the rocks and up to a brief
tunnel to emerge on a precipice with a howling wind.
This section can be a little tricky at time, but nothing bad can happen to you.
Once you're out onto the ledge head up (there's nothing in the opposite
direction). Notice the rocks spread out amongst the path. You can hide behind
these when the wind blows and avoid being blown backwards.
Duck behind the first rock and wait for the wind to pass. Once it has subsided,
head around to the next one. Wait again, and then head out on to the ledge
just to the right of the stairs. Wait for the wind again and then make a mad
dash up the stairs. As soon as you reach the top, run out onto the right
ledge.
Wait for the wind a final time, and then run the remaining distance of the
path. Breathe life into the iced piece of cloth and use it as a bridge to get
across.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
If you happen to fall off here, you simply land on an alternate pathway below
and suffer no penalty. This pathway can be traveresed by making use of the
pieces of cloth. Boost yourself back up to the regular path and continue on!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No matter which way you went, head through the final large arch at the end of
the path and out onto a snowy incline. You can finally see the summit of
the mountain in the distance, but the howling of the blizzard is too much.
Your scarf, no matter its length, will eventually deteriorate and die. Keep
pushing forward, but eventually the weather will over come you. Once you
collapse, don't despair! Hang in there for the next cutscene!
Once new life has been breathed into you, use the left analogue stick to
rocket into the sky! The serpents can't hit you now, so feel free to fly
around the cloud tunnel however you wish. Soon enough, you'll reach the
glowing end and emerge into the world above.
+---- THE SUMMIT [3.08] ------------------------------------------------------+
| Glowing Symbols: N/A                        || Glyph Panels: N/A            |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Your upward flight finally brings you to the world above the clouds and the
beautiful summit of the mountain. Your scraf is maximum length and you can fly
for a huge distance before running out of power. Even if you happen to fall,
the white mist below restores your power and allows you to rocket up again.
Fly forward, feel free to land on the small mountains if you wish, and through
the big red arch. Keep following the path of cloth up until you reach a
downward slope of snow. Land on it and surf down through the cave.
There's only one way to go from here, so head forward and up. Follow the
paths and objects of cloth as you make your ascent up the summit of the
mountain. When you reach large waterfalls of white cloud, use that sustance
to power your cloth and jump over the largest of the waterfalls. You can use
the cloth dragons for the same affect too.
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
In the section with the cloth dragons and the waterfalls, with excellent timing
you can leap off the back of the dragon and fly over nearly all the waterfalls
in a single bound. Try it, it's fun!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's little else that needs to be explained in this section. Simply follow
the path and enjoy the amazing scenery as you climb to the top of the mountain.
When you finally do reach it, land in the snow and say a final goodbye to your
scarf. Walk forward towards the light and keep pushing forward until the game
finally ends.
Stick around for the credits too. Not only is it a great sequence with a
beautiful piece of music, but there's some stuff to see at the end! Firstly,
you'll find out the names of anyone you encountered if you played online.
After that, you'll be awarded a number of trophies depending on how you played
the game. Check out the trophy guide section below for more details on that!
--------------------------QUIRKY ADVENTURING NOTE------------------------------
Next time you play, watch out for comets in the sky. Now you know the
signficance of them!
Once you've beaten the game, you can jump right back in and start again. You
might notice some gold embroidery on your robe you didn't have before. Each
time you complete the game this will get more detailed. See the secrets section
for more.
By pressing START and then SELECT, you can also find the chapter select mode.
Choosing it will teleport you to the central hub of the game where, by entering
into the ruins surrounding you, you can access any level of the game you'd
like. If you've collected all the glowing symbols, you can also pick up your
white robe here.
So, what now, you ask? Go back through and collect any glowing symbols or
glyph panels you missed. Try to achieve some of those PSN trophies, or just
beat the game a few more times through to complete the embroidery on your robe.
Maybe just explore and enjoy. It's up to you. It's your journey.
+---- COLLECTABLES [4.00] ----------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Honestly, I had more fun finding a lot of this stuff by exploring myself. So
I'd recommend you do that first. Besides, if you want to fully complete the
game then you're going to have to play it through a few times anyway!
If you're still stuck on finding stuff, then you'll find your answer here.
First up is a list of the glowing symbols, then one of the ancient glyphs. If
my descriptions aren't good enough for you (they should be!), then go have a
look on YouTube for some video locations.
-- GLOWING SYMBOL #7 --
-----------------------
>>Short Version: Go north over two dunes, then go north-west. On a tower.
From your entry point, head north until you find some debris with a piece of
cloth stuck. Free it to find a new type of flying carpet creature. Follow it
over the next hill to find more debris and another creature to release. Once
you have, climb the ridge in front of you and then head left. Look for a small
tower out to the north-west. Jump up to the top for the symbol.
-- GLOWING SYMBOL #8 --
-----------------------
>>Short Version: South-east corner of The Desert.
Two options: a) Go pretty much due south from symbol 9 until you find some
debris. Or b) from your start point, head north to the first dune, then go
east until you find it.
-- GLOWING SYMBOL #9 --
-----------------------
>>Short Version: North-east section of The Desert.
From the starting point, head north past two areas of debris where you can
free cloth creatures (On map: Cloth #1, #2). From the second debris, head north
east until you find ruins with an ancient glyph. From there, head north, and
slightly to the right (aim to the right of the mountain). Not too far away is
another set of ruins. Walk into the middle of them and boost up to the top of
the ruined wall to grab it.
-- GLOWING SYMBOL #10 --
------------------------
>>Short Version: Top of the tower at the end of the level. Around to the left.
Once you reach the top of the tower at the end of the area, don't go straight
up the stairs. Instead, head around to the left of them. Follow the path and
you'll find it.
-- GLOWING SYMBOL #11 --
>>Short Version: On the first downhill, directly behind the first tower.
Near the start, as you surf, you should spot a tower pretty much straight ahead
of you. Head around to the left of it and, once you've passed it, quickly pull
back around to the right. Hopefully you will see a small, ruined bridge in
front of the tower. Surf up there and through it to get the symbol.
Keep following the downhill until you eventually reach a tunnel. Once you do,
get ready. As soon as you exit the tunnel and the camera changes, head the
direction away from the camera. Look carefully and you will see it sitting on
a small piece of ruin jutting out from the side of the mountain. Land on it if
you can. If you miss, you can jump back up there once you free the carpet
creatures below.
-- GLOWING SYMBOL #13 --
>>Short Version: Second downhill. Behind second tower, jump across rocky path.
when you see the first tower on the second downhill area, pass it on the left
side. There should be another tower then straight in front of you. Pass that
>>Short Version: Inside a pipe jutting upward.
From the start, keep going until you find pipes that run parallel. Stay next to
the ones further on the right until you reach one that's angled upwards out of
symbol.
jellyfish and your jumping skill to get up there and grab it.
+---- SECRETS [5.00] ---------------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
For a short game, Journey packs in quite a lot to see. Aside from the
collectables listed in the section above, there are a few more well hidden
secrets to find! If you're looking for ones that are specifically trophy
related, they're not covered here; check out the trophy guide in the next
section.
+---- GOLDEN EMBROIDERY [5.01] -----------------------------------------------+
When you first play the game, note that your robe is a plain red colour. Beat
the game once and, on the next playthrough, the hem will have a golden pattern.
Each time you FULLY (chapter skipping not allowed) beat the game, more gold
will be added to the pattern on your robe. These patterns are added up to a
maximum of three times. So, in other words, beat the game fully three times to
complete your robe.
Does this do anything for you? Nope, nothing. But it looks pretty awesome and
is a nice thing to show off when you play online with other people.
It also works with the white cloak (see below).
+---- THE WHITE CLOAK [5.02] -------------------------------------------------+
Once you discover all 21 glowing symbols (this can be done across multiple
playthroughs), a special new robe will be available for you to wear. Return to
the hub (best done through chapter select from the menu) and check out the
ruined room to the south-east of the central pillar.
It should, if you've found all 21, now have streams of cloth emerging from it.
Head over to it and jump inside, making sure to jump all the way to the top of
the cloth. When you pop out, your cloak will now be white. Note that it still
retains the golden embroidery (see above).
The white cloak gives you two important powers: 1) as soon as you land from
jumping, your cloak begins to restore power on its own (self-regernation) and
2) your base scarf length is slightly longer.
You can revert back to red by jumping back into the cloth. You can change back
and forth from the hub whenever you want.
+---- FALLING OVER [5.03] ----------------------------------------------------+
Yes, you read that correctly!
By running in one direction and then very quickly turning around, you can
actually fall flat on your face! This does absolutely nothing useful, but it
is rather funny. If it doesn't work the first time, do it quickly again as it
can take more than once to lose your balance.
+---- GARY THE SCARF [5.04] --------------------------------------------------+
In The Tunnels level, right at the end after both serpents chase you down the
hill, go around to the back right corner of the room. There you can find one
lone piece of floating cloth. Apparently, the developer's decided to leave
this bug in after it wasn't discovered during Q&A testing. He is now known
affectionately as Gary the Scarf, so make sure to go say hello sometime!
+---- TROPHY GUIDE [6.00] ----------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Here you can find strategies on how to complete all the PSN trophies for the
game. Most are pretty easy, though a couple require a little bit of luck and
a few playthroughs. Note that you WILL need to play online to get some of
the trophies, but most can be obtained offline. In fact, most trophies are
easier to do offline. Excluding those that require a companion.
As a whole, the trophies in Journey are pretty easy to complete. It's worth
noting that there is no platinum trophy.
***BUG WARNING***
DO NOT OPEN THE PSN TROPHY SCREEN WHEN WATCHING THE FINAL CUTSCENE/CREDITS.
This has been known to stop certain trophies from popping at the end of the
game. They're not permanently broken, but you would have to do them again.
+---- COMPLETION GUIDE [6.01] ------------------------------------------------+
I've organised this by play order. You could theoretically get every trophy on
a single playthrough, but I'd recommend taking the time to go through at
least twice. It's more fun that way!
If you want to know more about an individual trophy and how to get it, see the
next section.
---------------------
|    FIRST PLAY     |
---------------------
Recommended: [REBIRTH], [CROSSING]
Optional: [COMPANION], [REFLECTION]
Ideally, don't worry about the trophies on your first playthrough. Just enjoy
the game for what it is. You're sure to pick up a few anyway.
When you beat the game you will obtain [REBIRTH] and, assuming you have a
companion with you at the end of the game, you will get [CROSSING]. If that
companion happened to have been with you the majority of the game, you'll
also get [COMPANION]. If not, no worries. There's an easy way to get it that
I will cover later.
Also, anyone you met during your journey adds to your total for getting
[WONDER].
---------------------
|    SECOND PLAY    |
---------------------
Recommended: [RETURN], [TRANSCENDENCE], [HISTORY], [THRESHOLD], [ADVENTURE],
	     [MIRAGE], [EXPLORE], [TRIALS], [ANCESTORS]
Optional: [COMPANION], [WONDER], [REFLECTION]
Now it's time to knuckle down.
I would HIGHLY SUGGEST you play this time OFFLINE. This allows a number of
trophies to be obtained more easily. In fact, a couple are very difficult
without it.
Before you even start the game, go to the settings menu of your PS3 and
move the clock foward seven days. Then start a new game in Journey to get
[RETURN]. Feel free to adjust your clock back whenever.
Firstly, print out the collectables guide above and keep it by your side. We're
going for them all this time, so make sure to check them off! Collecting all
the glowing symbols nets you [TRANSCENDENCE], and all the ancient glyphs gets
you [HISTORY].
When you reach The Bridge area, go for [THRESHOLD] (see the detailed guide
below for how to do it). In the next desert area, find the single flower to
achieve [MIRAGE]. While you're there, free all the creatures for [EXPLORE],
though there's a good chance you'll get that when you do Transcendence anyway.
In The Descent, stay on track and surf though 15 gates. This is the cumulative
total of both surfing sections. This gets you [ADVENTURE].
To get trials, avoid getting eaten by the stone serpents in The Tunnels. This
is very easy if you stay on the right or left side of the room they patrol.
They only search down the middle. This gets you [TRIALS].
To get [ANCESTORS], enter The Temple area and progress right to the end. Before
meditating, jump all the way down the tower back to the second floor. Swim
into the middle of the tower to find the creature needed for this trophy.
---------------------
|    THIRD PLAY     |
---------------------
Recommended: [COMPANION], [WONDER], [REFLECTION]
Optional: N/A
For this play, go back online. Theoretically all the trophies could be combined
into one play, but this is rather awkward and tricky. At least two plays is
advised.
Anyway, this time, teleport to the hub as soon as you start the game (use the
START menu). Walk over to the south-eastern most room and teleport straight
to the snow level. Why? Because the [COMPANION] trophy can be obtained just
by doing the last two levels because it is technically the 'majority' of your
journey.
When the level starts, even if you're buy yourself, start progressing. I found
waiting around for a companion at the entrance to be slow and ineffective. Keep
going as far as the first bridge (near the first glyph wall) before stopping if
you don't have a companion yet. If you do have a friend, keep on going and stay
with them all the way to the end of the game.
Now, if possible, you also need to sit and meditate with them for 20 seconds
to get the [REFLECTION] trophy. This can be a little akward and difficult to
communicate to your friend. I'd recommend walking ahead of them slightly, then
stopping and rapdily tapping the circle button to ping. Once they catch up
with you, press START to sit down on the ground. Hopefully they'll realise
what you're trying to do and oblige. Press START again to leave the menu and,
if they're sitting with you, just put the controller down and wait for the
trophy to pop.
Lastly, when you finish this play, hopefully you have met enough people for
the [WONDER] trophy. If you didn't mean many people on the first play, then you
may need to go through one more time to get this.
+---- TROPHY LIST [6.02] -----------------------------------------------------+
Listed in alphabetical order.
---------------------
|     ADVENTURE     |
---------------------
"Pass through 15 gates while surfing through the sunken city."
Ranking: Bronze
 Online: No
The easiest way to do this, if you don't get it naturally as you play, is to
simply skip to The Descent level and give it a shot. It doesn't really matter
which way you surf down the hills as there are gates in all directions.
Remember you can pull back on the analogue stick to slow down if you need to
redirect yourself. Also, this trophy adds together the gates you go through
in both downhill sections. So don't quit if you don't get it after the first
one!
---------------------
|     ANCESTORS     |
---------------------
"Find a mysterious creature hidden in the temple."
Ranking: Bronze
 Online: No
Enter The Temple area and progress right to the end. Before meditating and
finishing it, jump all the way down the tower back to the second floor. Swim
into the middle of the tower to find the creature needed for this trophy.
---------------------
|     COMPANION     |
---------------------
"Finish the game with the same partner for the majority of the journey and
return to the beginning."
Ranking: Silver
 Online: Yes
This can either be very tricky and require a lot of luck, or can be a fair bit
easier. The traditional method involves you starting a new game, meeting a new
companion before starting The Tunnels, and then staying with them the entire
game. If they decide to quit or disconnect, you're done.
The easier, less frustrating, way to do it is on a second playthrough. Teleport
to the hub and then to the final snow level. Progress as far as the first
broken bridge and either stop and wait if no companion as joined you yet, or
keep going once you have one. That way, you only need that person to stick
around for two levels!
---UPDATE---
Unfortunately, it appears this second method is still not working for some
people, but it is working for others. It's unclear at this point why that is,
but I'd recommend trying it anyway as it seems to have a higher success than
failure rate.
-- IMPORTANT UPDATE --
Credit to Supercloud.
So, the reason this doesn't work for everyone, apparently, is because BOTH
players MUST get the trophy. So, in other words, if you teleport to the final
level, but your companion has played the full game mostly with someone else,
then neither of you can get the trophy. It's all-or-nothing for you both.
Unfortunately, there's no way to find out what your partener has been up to
before you met them.
---------------------
|     CROSSING      |
---------------------
"Reach the summit with a companion and return to the beginning."
Ranking: Bronze
 Online: Yes
The easy version of companion. All you have to do is enter the light at the
end of the final level with a companion by your side. You could have started
the game with them or just met them five seconds ago. Makes no difference.
---------------------
|      EXPLORE      |
---------------------
"Discover all cloth creatures in the desert."
Ranking: Bronze
 Online: No
There are seven areas in total where you need to free one or more cloth
creatures for this trophy. It's a little difficult to describe each location,
but here we go:
    1 - When you enter the area, head directly straight across two dunes.
    2 - Follow the first flying carpet you free. It leads you to the next area.
    3 - Beneath the tower where symbol 7 is. (See collectables section.)
    4 - Just past glyph wall 2 is the next lot. (See collectables.)
    5 - In front of the ruins where symbol 9 is found. (See collectables.)
    6 - These can be found up the tower at the end of the level, about halway.
	They're stuck in a grate. Use circle button to free them.
    7 - The last ones are freed when you meditate and finish the level.
If you'd like more details, check out The Desert section of the walkthrough for
a rough map.
Check out the collectables in section 4 for the locations of them all. If
you'd rather not use a guide, you can see how many you're missing in each
area by exmaining the room around their portals in the hub. If the panels in
the rooms are blank, you're missing that glyph!
---------------------
"Find the hidden desert flower."
Ranking: Bronze
Intimidating at first, but actually not that hard. If you're searching for all
the glowing symbols, you'll undoubtedly come across this in The Desert. If
not, the best way to describe its location is to head over to the right side
of the area. It can sort of be found in the middle between where you start
and the end of the area.
If you're using the collectables guide, it's between symbols 8 and 9.
Come back after a week? How annoying! Alternatively, start a new game, quit,
go to your PS3 settings and move your clock forward seven days. Then return
to your game and... ta-da!
---------------------
---------------------
"Cross the broken bridge without completely rebuilding it."
Ranking: Bronze
 Online: No
You can do this trophy online, but it's the only one I absolutely suggest you
do offline as a companion can unknowingly screw it up.
When you reach The Bridge, DO NOT free the cloth directly in front of the
entrance. Instead, go free all the others so sections 2, 3, and 4 of the
bridge are fixed: this leaves only part 1 broken. This is easier the longer
your scarf is, but can be done anyway.
Go back to where the first cloth is stuck and jump, aiming for ITS TOP ONLY.
Don't touch it on the bottom as well or it will break free. Once on the top,
use its recharge power to jump again up to where the bridge starts. Then
just cross it to get the trophy!
|   TRANSCENDENCE   |
---------------------
"Collect all unique glowing symbols across one or more journeys."
Ranking: Gold
 Online: No
Check out the collectables in section 4 for the locations of them all. If
you'd rather not use a guide, you can see how many you're missing in each
area by exmaining two different locations:
Firstly, at the end of each level right in front of the triangular monument
are a few pieces of stone. If they're all already glowing when you get there,
you got all the symbols! If any are dark, you missed some.
Secondly, you can see it from the hub world to a lesser extend. In the one
ruined area south-east of the central pillar, there are a number of small
stones that light up. Each stone corresponds to a particular level. From top-
down and left-right, they are: The Beginning, The Bridge, The Desert, The
Descent, The Tunnels, The Temple, The Mountain, The Summit. The last two
will always be glowing because there are no symbols on those levels.
---------------------
|      TRIALS       |
---------------------
"Sneak through the underground passage without tearing your scarf."
Ranking: Bronze
 Online: No
Difficult on a first playthrough when you don't know what's coming up, but
very easy on subsequent ones. When you enter the room where the serpents
patrol in The Tunnels, simply stay around to either the right or left side
of the room the entire time. They only patrol down the middle.
---------------------
|      WONDER       |
---------------------
"Meet 10 or more unique travelers."
Ranking: Silver
 Online: Yes
This adds up across multiple game and doesn't need to be done on a single play.
Should be easy enough, but if you're having trouble or want to speed it up,
return to the hub and enter any level. Wait for a companion to appear then
leave and go back to the hub and repeat the proccess until you hit 10. Then
beat the game to get the trophy.
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
+---- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) [7.00] --------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Stumped? Have a question about the game you just can't find an answer to? Then
hopefully this section can help you out! Here you can find some of the more
commonly asked questions about the game and their answers. If it doesn't help,
try scrolling up and looking through the walkthrough.
Q. Why can't I keep jumping all the time?
A. The scarf your character has holds limited power and you need some power
   to jump! To restore power to it, just collide with any other piece of cloth
   (either animate or inanimate) in the game.
Q. Can I play solo?
A. Yup, and the game is just as good one-player too! I'd recommend playing
   through with a companion at least once if you can though. It's quite a
   different experience.
Q. Can I talk to my companion?
A. No, not really. All you can do is 'ping' by pressing circle. Hopefully your
   companion can figure out what you're trying to say! If you want them to
   follow you, I find pinging very fequently usually gets the message across.
   If you want some more suggestions, scroll back up to section 2 to the
   'Online Aspects' section.
Q. How do I make my robe white?
A. Collect all 21 glowing symbols in the game and then return to the hub to get
   access to it.
Q. How do I get the golden pattern on my robe?
A. The pattern increases each time you beat the game from start to finish. Up
   to a maximum of three times.
Q. Can you survive the snowstorm in the penultimate section of the game?
A. Nope. Doesn't matter how long your scarf is, either.
Q. What happens if a serpent eats you?
A. The length of your scarf is halved. Annoying, but there's not game over or
   anything.
Q. I can't get the companion trophy! Help!
A. Try skipping to the snow level via the hub and hang around until a
   companion joins you. This works for most pepople, but a few have reported
   that it still doesn't pop. If you're having trouble, I'm really not sure
   what else to suggest. :(
