Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy DLC Content Guide

Hey everyone,

So as I have discovered it IS possible to use the Japanese & Asia PSN content
for this game in your North American or European copies of
Final Fantasy Dissidia 012 Duodecim!

Here is a link to some videos I put up as proof;
http://www.youtube.com/user/Lionheart3050?feature=mhum

So IF Square-Enix makes the dumb decision to not release content outside of
Japan, it IS possibleto still access it with your English game!
This is great news!

*PLEASE NOTE* I will not be held responsible for any lost files or mistakes
made by you throughout the process. This guide is as clear as possible,
however errors CAN be made, resulting in loss of data
(you ARE moving files around & replacing existing files)
so BE CAREFUL and BACK UP your files! Doing this is at your own risk.
You've been warned.*

/     GUIDE       /
==================

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
-PSP System + Memory Card
-PSP or PS3 System + Internet connection (using the PS3 is easier)
 UMD Version of Dissidia 012: Duodecim
 (This will NOT work with PSN download versions of the game,
 due to the region change required, sorry guys)
-USB CABLE
-JAPANESE Playstation Network Account OR ASIA Playstation Network account
(Singapore works best for ASIA PSN)
-Home computer or laptop (PC and Apple both work)
-Some money to buy JPSN or APSN content / points cards.
 Asia/Singapore WILL register your NA credit card. Japan will not.

If you are wondering what the differences are between the JPSN and
APSN (Singapore) accounts, JPSN will give you access to ALL DLC content that
is upcoming from Square-Enix at a cost of 300Yen ($3.00US) per download,
the APSN (Singapore) is in ENGLISH and costs roughly $1.49US per download,
however MAY not give you access to all the DLC SE releases at future dates.

Personally I recommend using the JPSN because it is a safe bet if you want
all the content. However the Singapore method saves some money and is
somewhat easier to manuever, but again, at the risk of not being able
to access everything. It's up to you.

My guide will mainly focus on creating and using a JPSN account to gain
the DLC, however the method is essentially the same with the Singapore account.

======================================
/  STEP 1: DOWNLOADING CONTENT      /
=====================================

First of all, you will need to create a JPSN account, as well as purchase a
JPSN points card to buy content.

Here's a link to a guide on how to create a JPSN account;
http://www.gamertell.com/gaming/comment/how-to-create-a-japanese-
playstation-store-account/

You can easily purchase the JPSN points cards at most stores online,
but I recommend using Play-asia.com, cause they have digital downloads
(they send you the code on payment) and they don't rack up the price too much.

Now use your PS3 and create a new user, and use the same account you just
created to link your PS3 to your new JPSN account.
If you do not have a PS3, you can delete your PSN account from your PSP
systems memory (this will not actually delete the account itself,
just your PSPs connection to it).
Go to the "Account Settings" section and hit the triangle button to
bring up a menu. Select "Delete Account" and say yes.
Now you can re-enter the new JPSN account information.
Once your account has been created, go on into the PS Store on your PS3 or
PSP (with your JP account) and redeem the points card as you would
using the code in the upper "redeem code" area of the store,
just like the NA store.

Once your points have been added, simply just buy the content you want for
Duodecim and download it to your system! Costumes AND Music will work!

Now for the tricky part...

==================================================
/ STEP 2: GETTING THE CONTENT ONTO YOUR PSP /
==================================================

(If you are ONLY using a PSP, you can skip this part, as content will download
directly onto your system).

Using the USB cable, plug your PSP into your PS3 system, go into the
Saved Game Files section and find the content you just downloaded and
copy it onto your PSP memory card.

IT WILL INFORM YOU YOUR PSP IS NOT REGISTERED TO USE THIS CONTENT.
You will have to change the registration of your current PSP region over to
the Japanese account.
This is easy and you basically just have to click "Ok".

However, this means you will NOT be able to access any of your previous
PSN account purchases on your PSP.
So any PS1 Games, or other DLC content (Like the free KH Cloud with pre-orders
for example) will NO LONGER WORK.
If you want to access them again, you will have to re-register with your NA
or EU account.
DLC CONTENT FROM JAPAN IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANY OTHER REGION.
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS.

Ok, now for the hard part....

=========================================================
/ STEP 3: CHANGING THE FILES TO WORK WITH YOUR GAME /
=========================================================

Still with me? OK...

Now using the USB cable, connect your PSP to your computer.

The directory for changing the files over is found in;

PSP>GAME>NPJH50377

I strongly recommend that BEFORE changing files around, you make a copy of
the current folders
(copy NPJH50377 and ULUS10566 or ULES01505) onto your computer,
and save them AS IS before you go messing around, in case for some reason
you make a mistake. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
Just make a copy of the folder and it's contents and save it away
somewhere safe for later use.

You don't want to lose any of your DLC content, because it's not at easy as
just re-downloading from the PSN. If the save file that the DLC content needs
to be placed in is missing, and has no destination, they will not show up
in game. I tried to make it so I could easily switch between one PSP
connected to NA, and back to my other PSP connected to JP, but it would NOT
work unless I completely replaced the files.

So once you've made a back-up (on your computer),
go ahead and either change the name of the;

NPJH50377 folder
to
ULUS10566 (North America) or ULES01505 (Europe)
it will ask you if you want to replace it, in which case you HAVE to replace
the files if you want to access the Japanese content.

Remember doing this temporarily VOIDS your use of any NA or EU PSN
content you may have.

If you want it back, you will have to replace the file again with your
back-up from your computer.
It's easy and can be done at any time, multiple times...
AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT DELETE THE ORIGINAL FILES YOU HAVE BACKED UP.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
DO NOT DELETE YOUR BACK-UPS!

You're almost there....

=================================
/  STEP 4: USING THE CONTENT    /
=================================

Now the easy (and fun!) part.

Disconnect your PSP from your computer, now pop in Duodecim.

You can now use Japanese content! Go ahead and see for yourself!

This works for costumes AND music as well, though the music still shows up in
Japanese text as "DLC - *Japanese Text* (FF#)"
(it appears before all the FFI Music).

ENJOY!
