    Damage Knacks

    Knack NameEffect
    Fierce StrikeA single-target (enemy-only) attack that deals 150% damage. Cannot cause critical damage
    Pierce StrikeA linear attack that deals 100% damage to any unit (allies/enemies) it hits. Cannot cause critical damage
    Circle StrikeAn attack that deals 75% damage to surrounding enemy units. Cannot cause critical damage
    ThieveryA single-target (enemy-only) attack that has a 100% chance to steal an item from an enemy (with St:O). May cause critical damage
    Soul SmasherA single-target (enemy-only) attack Deals 50% damage to HP and 50% damage to MP. May cause critical damage
    ImpedeA single-target (enemy-only) attack that doubles the ATW increase you deal. (read the Attack Wait Section for more info)
    SabotageA single-target (enemy-only) attack that reduces an enemy spell's level by up to 2 times if you hit them while casting
    Fatal StrikeA single-target (enemy-only) attack that has a 10% chance of killing an enemy instantly (doesn't work on units with ??? HP)
    InfernoAn attack that consumes all MP to deal damage to surrounding units. Damage depends on MP
    Time BombCharacter sets a time bomb on his place that will explode (in a radius; damages allies/enemies) after a certain amount of time. Only one time bomb may be set per person
    PermanenceCharacter invokes a spell in the field that continuously deals elemental damage to enemies who touch it. Vanishes over time.
    • St: is something you would see in an enemy's stats when you hover your cursor over them (requires Familiar Ability: Enemy Scan Lv2) or when you use the Analyze (Knack) on them.
      • St:O This means that an item can be Stolen from them.
      • St:X means that nothing can be stolen
    • Spellstones such as Thief Arts and Thief Arts EX do not affect St:. This means that you can steal more than one item from a single enemy
      • Remus's 2nd Limit Ability allows him to steal an item whenever he deals critical damage. This ability does not affect St: either

    Status Knacks

    DashDouble's Mov stat.
    Magic Def UpAdds +2 to elemental Property stats.
    Dodge UpAdds 50% dodge against target.
    BerserkDeals 200% damage to target, but receives 30% recoil. Unit cannot take any other action until he dies/the target is killed
    DecoyUnit attracts opponents in range, causing them to focus their attacks on him/her
    Death CurseUnit puts a death timer on a target. If the target's timer reaches 0 + no more yellow bar, the target dies (enemy-only)
    CounterUnit deals 100% damage when attacked by the target and adds 50% of the supposed ATW increase.

    • You have to have at least Synchronize Level 1 for BOTH casters to perform a joint spell
      • Equipping the Proof of Friendship spellstone (at level 0) counts as Synchronize Lv 1
    • You cannot produce a joint spell that is higher than (any of) your casters' lowest Synchronize Lv
      • If one of your casters only has Synchronize Lv 1, then no matter what the Synchronize level of your other caster is, the result of your spell will still be 1
    • You have to learn the given Combination List from Kate before you can cast or perform any of the listed joint spells
    • Have each caster cast the spells given in the combination list. They do not have to finish casting at the same time
      • When you are ready to cast a joint spell, choose "Assist" to perform the joint spell
        • Invoke
        • -Assist-
        • Wait/Continue
        • Stop
    • The range of your joint spell depends on your Caster's INT stat, not your "assistant"
      • The Assistant is the one who selects the Assist command. The caster is the one being assisted
    • REMEMBER that you cannot cast a joint spell if you have no MP
      • The MP reduction applies to both assistant and caster. It doesn't matter if they have insufficient MP, the joint spell may be cast as long as both of their MP is above 0
    • Finally, a joint spell's level is determined by adding the levels of your spells first, then dividing it by 2
      • Lv 1 Spell + Lv 3 spell
        • = Lv 4 / 2
        • = Lv 2 Joint spell
      • If the number is a decimal, round it down (Ex: 2.5 ~> 2)
        • Read the second step again, as a reminder to this

    Unlocking Joint Spells

    Step 1A while after acquiring Combination list#3, speak to Kate and pick the 3rd option
    Step 2She should mention something about Elena's Spell Report
    *If you have altered Elena's Fate*
    Step 3Go to Trockmere and head to the Flooded Area (formerly the plaza)
    Step 4You should find Elena. Speak to her and she should give you Elena's Spell Report
    Step 5Show the spell report to Kate, and rest in bed. Talk to Kate right after
    *If you have not altered Elena's Fate*
    Step 3Speak to Frayne or Hien during your furloughs until they mention something about a prison
    Step 4Go to Trockmere and follow the road southwest
    Step 5You should find the old prison where Ruin Children were experimented on and guarded by soldiers
    Step 6Defeat the Soldiers, and you should acquire the key item: Prison Key
    Step 7Go inside and enter the 2nd cell to your right. You should find a red shiny object on the ground
    Step 8Pick it up, and you should acquire Elena's Spell Report
    Show the spell report to Kate, and rest in bed. Talk to Kate right after
    Combination List #5
    Step 1A while after acquiring Combination list#4, speak to Kate and pick the 3rd option
    Step 2Kate should mention dropping a Test Spellstone somewhere in Marquelia. Now head to Marquelia and head to the Armor Shop
    Step 3At the opposite side of the armor shop, you should find a small bricked path. Follow it to the next screen
    Step 4You should now be in a tiny spot in the middle of the city, search the flowerbed in front of you and you should find the Test Spellstone
    Step 5Show the spellstone to Kate, rest in your bed, then talk to Kate once again
    Combination List #6
    Step 1Search for the Blast Research when you return to Fort Leinfaltz's research lab
    Step 2Give it to Kate, then rest in your bed
    Step 3Meet Kate in the Lab downstairs. She will give you a Materia Master spellstone (teaches Blast) along with the Combination List
    • If you cannot find Kate anywhere around the mansion, she could be found inside her room at the 3rd Floor > West Suite > Middle Door of Eliza's Mansion
