Unlockables

Unlockables in Gradius Gaiden
Gradius Gaiden has unlockables. You must complete the following tasks and finish your game. That means if you don´t die, you won´t unlock anything, even if you have a saved game after completing the task. You should be careful too: If you load a game without a now unlocked feature, you will lose it again if you finish your game.

Unlockables in Gradius III

Gradius III has unlockables. You must complete the following tasks and finish your game. That means if you don´t die, you won´t unlock anything, even if you have a saved game after completing the task. You should be careful too: If you load a game without a now unlocked feature, you will lose it again if you finish your game.

Unlockable	How to Unlock
Cube Attack	Survive until level 9. It´s the cube attack from level 9.
Extra Edit	Complete the game. You will be able to choose more weapons in Extra Mode.
Extra Mode	Survive until level 9. Here you will see most of unlockables.
Gradius	Get hit by a shot of the last boss. It´s part of the first level from Gradius.
Salamander	Get hit by a shot of the last boss. It´s part of the first level from Salamander.
Stage Select	Complete the game.

Secrets

Gradius III - Easy Final Boss
Put the ship in the middle of the screen, near the bottom. The blasts will be unable to hit you. Even better yet, this boss doesn't require you to actually damage it to a certain point, so just stay in this safe zone and it will die after 15 seconds or so.

Fight Heaven's Gate
In order to fight this hidden boss, you must first complete the game once on any difficulty. Then, on the second loop, it will appear as the last boss in the Formidable Guardians Stage.

Play first level of Salamander or Gradius 1	In Stage 10, whe you are at the last boss of the game, get hit by the boss's attack that comes out of the mouth. You will then be taken either to salamander stage 1 or gradius 1 stage 1.

Secrets

Change BGM in Stage 3
In Stage 3 (In The Wind), around the T-shaped cliff, you will find an enemy bay against the wall and under a ceiling, which is nearly impossible to hit except with the use of some types of Missiles and the S.Option. Destroy it, and the BGM in the stage will change.
