"Kill and be happy"
The Grand Theft Auto family has gone from gaming console to gaming console and the PSP version of GTA: Vice City Stories does not disappoint. Everything feels like the PS2 version of Vice City, except with the smaller screen. It feels just like home.
The ratings are here yet again, going from a scale from 1 to 5.
GTA's story modes never disappoint, and this version is no exception. The main missions are good enough to keep you busy, and the optional missions like Vigilante and Paramedic can keep you playing for hours on end. The group bosses give you missions while you take over little brothels all over Vice City.
Difficulty: (Easiest: 1 Hardest: 5) 4/5
It dosen't take a brain sugeon to know that you should run from the police. Apparently, it takes a brain surgeon to run from the police. In other games, police chases take a few moments to finish, but now, it feels like it takes an hour to escape. Or, you could simply run into a Pay n' Spray to make the police run like headless chickens.
Vice City is huge and takes days to study, but when you really look at it, the entire city is not that detailed. The signs are noticeable and make everything look realistic, but the lack of street art make the walls of the city look flat.
The music is very familiar to fans of songs from the 80s because the songs ARE from the 80s. The DJs of the radio always make it a point to say something funny to the listeners, which makes things realistic. Sound effects are repetitive, and people seem to say the same things over and over for weeks, but everything is delivered perfectly.
Although I did say that all of the missions will keep you playing for hours and hours, it's boring to play all of the story missions all over again. This is disappointing because you know at once that if you finish the game once, it will never feel the same if you play the entire game again for a second or third time.
With all of the drawbacks and flaws, GTA: Vice City Stories stands out as one of the most beautiful games on the PSP. A great stress killer, the game is also very helpful in calming you down. All in all, it will be very difficult to replace Vice City as the best GTA on the PSP.
Reviewer's Rating: 4.5 - Outstanding
