Question from Quarrry
Is this game any good, What kind of game can you compare this with?
And gameplay? rpg? action-rpg? or like Monster hunter/ phantasy star?
This question is open with pending answers, but none have been accepted yet
Think old-school RPG - dungeon crawling, first-person view, lots of character customisation and hard as balls.
If you've played any of the Wizardry games, then you'll know what to expect.
Its dungeon crawling. and the dungeon will be randomize everytime we enter
Think Etrian Oddesey. It's basically the same game but for the DS. That's the best comparison you can make really. It's a dungeon crawler game, so nothing like Monster Hunter or Phantasy star. In fact it's pretty much unlike every other RPG you normally think of. Especially if your thinking along the lines of jrpgs (which would be stuff like Final Fantasy and etc.)
This game is actually a very decent game. It's one of those games where you just need to get the ball rolling so to say. It's a little slow at the beginning but it picks up really fast after that. Before you know it, you'll have played the game for hours and you'll find that you just lost an entire day.
VERY old School RPG, like, "Bard's Tale" old school. despite repetetive combat and some somewhat infuriating maps, I find the game Remarkably hard to put down. it's a tried and true system with a lighthearted touch expected of japan, Highly recommended IMO
There are about 80 different maps so it's not completely random, but it's still addictive. Once you hit level 5 or so (or really, just can afford semi-decent gear), it turns into a hypnotic little game that'll have you losing hours and trying to find a pot. Yeah, a pot...^_^ (it's a side quest so don't think too hard about it).
you can say its a PG version of Shin Megami Tensei. that, and the games completely option based.
I've played a lot of really old "first person" dungeon crawlers and this game pays very serious homage to much older tough-as-nails games like the Wizardry series, with loads of classes/races, many of which can be nearly useless. Tons of items that have "vague at best" descriptions. Nearly every "dungeon" area has a different tile/graphics set but one looks a whole lot like an old game called Stonekeep. It's like the Bard's Tale series for open-world exploring; they aren't going to hold your hand for very long here and you're pretty much on your own for much of the game to figure out where to go. It borrows the ambiance/sound effects style from Dungeon Master: Theron's Quest with crazy creaks, groans, wind and weird monster noises just to make you jump. Playing with headphones on is extremely nerve wracking but eventually the novelty wears off when you realize it's just mostly for show.
The biggest benefit or curse depending on how you want to look at it is clearly the randomized dungeon floors and randomized loot. This can be very cool or it can be very annoying. There are about 75 different floor maps of which about only 15-20 are static maps and the others "rotate and shift" every time you enter a new dungeon. Depending on luck you could theoretically get one or more of the same map in ten different dungeons since they are randomly selected each time a dungeon is entered. Fortunately, all map exploration is permanent so if a map is 10%, 50%, or even 100% cleared and the map shows up again in a different dungeon the progress on that map will remain the same.
As far as difficulty, mostly the game is pretty easy if you play character races with classes and don't stray too far from what certain races "ought" to be. For instance, drake warriors and halfling thieves instead or drake thieves and halfling warriors. Even large groups of monsters aren't all that scary if one takes their time. This is not a game that will be finished in a couple days and will demand a large portion of your time.
