"One of the best fighters available, with a ton of depth"

Virtua Fighter 2 is one of the best arcade conversions for the Saturn. It more than makes up for the slop-job that the VF1 port was.

Story
The story is weak. Ten combatants have been called to fight a fight and find out who is the best. Yawn. (Wait till you see the ending)

Graphics
What's that you say? The Saturn can't do any better than Virtua Fighter 1 or Daytona? Think again. Putting most PlayStation fighters to shame, VF2 shows the Saturn _can_ do a graphically intense game. High resolution textures at 60 fps makes you drool and give Sega a bit of respect. Even if you don't really like this style of game, have a look and see what I'm talking about.

Music/Sound
The music is exactly what a fighting game should have: a pounding score that gets your blood pumping. It's quite enjoyable. The player can choose between the original arcade music or an equally good remixed version. The effects are good, but could be better. I especially like the sound of the whoosh kick on a stereo system. The voices are muffled, but are much better than the crap from Virtua Cop.

Control
What do expect? This a Sega game. The control is perfect. It's easy to master, and you can configure each button to fit your style. Moves are easy to pull off, but require practice to use properly. Again, perfect.

Replay Value
This is where VF2 really shines. Each fighter has hundreds of available moves. Take your pick. It'll take you months to perfect just one character. Also, the game has Sega's AI routines put in. Turn on the learning feature and the CPU will read your style and use it. Block a lot, and the computer will block a lot. This adds a ton of replay value.

Decision
Since this game can be found pretty cheap, it's a must buy. The arcade stick is a plus if you want a near arcade perfect experience. Beware, the game takes a massive 180 blocks of memory, so get a backup ram cart, or erase your other important files! I would give the game a 9.5, but what are you gonna do. If only the voices weren't so muffled...
