"One of the best Sonic games out there"
The Sonic the Hedgehog seris has always been one of the most popular, mainly because of the sppedy gameplay. The original Sonic put the Sega Genesis on the map and helped fuel the war with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. So i guess when Sega of America decided to release the Sega CD, they figured that they should put out a Sonic game for it. After all, could history repeat itself? Could the new Sonic game put the Sega CD on the map? Well, it did not, but thats not because the game was bad. Actually, the game was quite good, and is still one of the best Sonic the Hedgehog games out there. The gameplay is still pretty much unchanged, but this kind of gameplay never gets old. One of the best Sega CD games out there, Sonic CD was one of the few reasons to own an overpriced add on like the Sega CD.
Graphics (9.1/10): Imagine the Genesis games, but with more vivid colors and backgrounds. Thats what Sonic CD was like. There were also some cool special effects in certain places.
Music/Sound (9.2/10): The overall quality of the music was on par with the Genesis versions of the Sonic the Hedgehog games, and the CD ROM made the music sound smooth and easy to listen to. I still prefer the tunes of Sonic 2 but this is a close second.
Gameplay/Control (8.9/10): This kind of classic gameplay never gets stale or old. Who cares if its mostly rehash from the Genesis versions, its still very fun to play. Sonic still goes fast as ever, and the level designs are challenging and well done.
Replay Value (8.1/10): The best replay value of any Sega CD game, thats for sure.
Challenge (7.8/10): A decent challenge.
Overall (8.9/10): One of the best Sega CD games out there, as well as being one of the best Sonic the Hedgehog games ever.
