Game Play-
9/10

The game is Mario's first adventure on the SNES. You once again have to rescue the princess. You have to go through (at most) 96 levels to get to Bowser's castle and rescue the princess and the Yoshi eggs. There are 9 worlds which you must go through. You start out with two levels, once you beat a level, you get to go to the next one. There are secret levels in this game, which are accessed by alternate exits in levels. At the end of each world, there is a castle. You must go through the castle and defeat the boss in there. The game has ghost houses, which require small puzzles to be beaten. The game introduces the cape, which lets Mario fly, and Yoshi, a green dinosaur that can eat enemies and use shells for special attacks.

Graphics-
9/10

The graphics are really good. The backgrounds look awesome. Everything is rich in detail. The graphics look really, really good. The only problem about the graphics is that some of the backgrounds look the same. But, everything else is good. The levels don't repeat themselves. They are unique in design.

Audio-
6/10

The music is good, but there could've been more tracks to the game. It's good, but it could've used more. Some of the music also can get on your nerves after a while. One of the tracks in this game is beginning to sound like the music used in a car dealership commercial here. (Local TV commercials suck) The game also had good sound effects. They sound different that the NES sound effects of those Mario games.

Enjoyability-
10/10

The game is one of the most enjoyable SNES games made. The game is the most common SNES game, and for good reason. It has the makings of a classic. It's being resurrected on the GBA as Super Mario Advance 2. But to tide you over, get this now. Super Mario Advance 2 doesn't look like it'll come out here for at least 6 months. I may be wrong.

Score-34/40

Overall-
9/10

One of the best SNES games around. I've seen it for as low as $2.00. For that low of price, you can't pass it up. Well, you can, but you'll feel empty inside. Maybe not empty, as much as not giving a crap about it. The game will keep you busy for a while, but the game is too easy.
