Tap the control pad twice towards the left or right to run in that direction.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Attacking
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Punch - Press the Y or X buttons to throw a punch. After the
opponent is hit by two or three of these and he becomes
stunned, your character will execute a finishing kick. This
finisher is different depending on the character. See the
section titled "The Combatribes" further below for
                   more information.

Kick - Press the A or B button to throw a kick. Just like with the
punch, after the opponent is hit by two or three of these,
he becomes stunned, and your character will execute a
finishing kick. This finisher is different depending on the
character. See the section titled "The Combatribes" further
                   below for more information.

Running Attack - Press any punch or kick button while running to perform a
running attack. This attack, once again, changes depending
on the character. See the section titled "The Combatribes"
                   further below for more information.

Throws - While the opponent is stunned, walk towards him to grab him
by the shirt. Once you have him, press Punch to throw him
over your shoulder towards the front; or press Kick to
throw him straight in front of you. The flying enemy will
hit anything in its path and hurt it.

Note: You cannot hold certain normal enemies, or the bosses.
These will be mentioned at the beginning of each stage
                   walkthrough.

Flying Throw - When an enemy is in the ground, walk towards his feet and
press Punch. Your character will grab him, spin around
holding him by the legs for a while, and release him. The
spinning enemy can hit any surrounding enemies, as well as
when he's thrown. Depending on the character, the speed and
strength of the damage done will be lower or greater. Blitz
spins twice and does little damage; Berzerker spins three
times and does medium damage; Bullova spins five times and
                   does heavy damage.

Note: You can throw all normal enemies, but not the bosses.

Back Breaker - When an enemy is in the ground, press any of the Kick
buttons to jump and fall on his back.

Note: You can jump on all normal enemies and Fats, Level 1's
boss. But you cannot do this to any other boss.

Pavement Kiss - When an enemy is in the ground, walk over him starting from
above him. The character will then sit on top of him,
holding his head; press punch or kick to lift the enemy's
head and hit it against the floor. You can get hit while
you're doing this move, but the enemy can't escape. Press Up
                   to let him go.

Note: You can do this on any normal enemy except the bosses.

Head Butt - When you're attacking an enemy, if another one stands
directly behind you, press Punch and you will grab both of
their heads and smash them together. This can be done on any
                   normal character.

  4 - The Combatribes
 ******************************************************************************

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 "Berzerker"
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   Height: 7'1"
   Weight: 246 lbs.
   Hair: Blonde
   Eyes: Blue
   Japanese name: "Crazy Battle Samurai"
   Japanese class: All Purpose Type

Berzerker is the game's middle ground character. He is moderately fast, has
 good power, and stamina.

Finishing Punch: Right hand hook - Berzerker throws a hook straight at the
                                    enemy's face.

Finishing Kick: Roundhouse - Berzerker spins and hits the enemy with a
                                    roundhouse kick.

Running Move: Knee Kick - Berzerker makes a small jump, holding out
his knee in front of him.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 "Bullova"
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   Height: 6'11"
   Weight: 258 lbs.
   Hair: Black
   Eyes: Brown
   Japanese name: "Big Ax"
   Japanese class: Power Type

Bullova is the slowest one of the trio. But he's got more energy and hitting
 power than the other two.

Finishing Punch: Uppercut - Bullova throws an uppercut that sends the
                                    enemy flying up.

Finishing Kick: Kick to the face - Bullova stands on one foot and uses the
other to deliver a kick to the enemy's
face. Note that he stands on his toes to
                                    actually reach their faces. ;)

Running Move: Running Punch - Bullova swings his fist as he runs. While
he is performing the move, his body can
hit the opponent and knock him down. His
fist does more damage than his body, of
course. This move takes a while to actually
come out; after you push the button, the
attack comes out around half a second
                                    later.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 "Blitz"
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   Height: 6'9"
   Weight: 239 lbs.
   Hair: Brown
   Eyes: Reddish brown
   Japanese name: "Lightning Attack"
   Japanese class: Speed Type

Blitz is the speedy one of the trio. But his speed comes at the cost of a
reduced energy bar and lower strength.

Finishing Punch: Uppercut - Bullova throws an uppercut that sends the
                                    enemy flying up.
Finishing Kick: Jump-kick - Blitz hops up and hits the enemy with a
                                    kick to the face.
Running Move: Flying Kick - Blitz jumps and does a flying kick. It
doesn't do much damage, but the range is
                                    good.

  5 - Walkthrough
 ******************************************************************************

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Act-1: The Motorcycle Nuclear Warheads [Streets of New York]
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  H.Squad: 4
  L.Fish: 4

You'll start out surrounded by two types of enemies: H.Squad [the bald ones]
   and L.Fish [the bikers]. H.Squad attacks using his fists and his head;
L.Fish uses a broken bottle. Neither of them has much energy, and they will
go down after three or four attacks. They will try to attack you from both
sides; when they surround you, run towards them to knock them down. Jumping
on their backs is a good way to beat them, but watch out: you can get hit
   while you're jumping.

  Stage Boss: Fats
  Helpers: L.Fish x 1
Fats is a fat, bald biker that uses a huge board to attack. He has very high
range at first, so try to get close to him by approaching him from below and
punching him. When he loses half his life, he'll lose the board and will use
his fists instead. He doesn't have as much range, but can get annoying. Hit
him quickly and knock him down; you can jump on his back then, lowering his
life rapidly. Don't try to grab him, as he manages to let go easily.

After you beat Fats, he says that he's just a slave and knows nothing about
Ground Zero. He tells you to look for the Demon Clowns at Coney Island.

This unlocks H.Squad, L.Fish and Fats in the Versus Mode.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Act-2: The Demon Clowns [Technos Land in Coney Island]
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  G.Terror: 3
  K.Clown: 3

Two new types of enemies appear in this stage: G.Terror, a mime, uses a cane
and his knees to attack. He's about as dangerous as L.Fish, and doesn't do
much damage. The second enemy is K.Clown: They are VERY annoying. You can't
grab them and throw them over your shoulder, as they'll just land on their
feet. They use bowling pins to attack, and do heavy damage when there are
more than two on the screen. Watch out when he jumps; he'll try to land on
your head and go down elsewhere. When you see one jump, move up or down to
   evade him.

  Stage Boss: Salamander
  Helpers: K.Clown x 1, G.Terror x 1

Salamander can take out all your credits if you're not careful. He uses
a small torch and spits out fire, turning him invincible and knocking you
down. Getting to him is easy; the problem are his helpers. When you try to
get close, they come out to attack you from behind. Try to take them out
   before moving in on Salamander.

Once you take out half his life, he'll lose the torch and hit you with a
backhand, not unlike the ones wrestlers on TV use. He also jumps up and does
a spinning kick that can be evaded by walking up or down. You can't grab
him, jump on his back or grab his face and hit it against the pavement.
When you can, try to hit him with running attacks and repeat; or if you've
got enough energy, hit him with punches and run away. When he jumps, take
advantage and walk near him to get him when he lands.

Once Salamander is down, he tells you that the boss is actually a woman.
The Combatribes are surprised; Salamander tells them to go to the Lexington
King Disco on the Lower East Side.

  Password:
   1180
This unlocks G.Terror, K.Clown and Salamander in the Versus Mode.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Act-3: The Slash Skate Screamers
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  S.Freaks: 6

This stage is guarded by six S.Freaks - they'll skate all around the stage
and try to hit you with their hockey sticks. To stop them, stay near one
of the edges of the stage, and wait until they reach the wall and try to
turn around. When they do, they are vulnerable. Hit them and knock them
down. Then, grab them by their feet and swing them to hit the others. Repeat
   until they all go down.

  Stage Boss: Slash
  Helpers: S.Freaks x 2

Y'know, for a sledge-hammer wielding punk rocker, Slash has awesome grammar
skills. :) He's got as much range as Fats, but he's quite fast as well. When
you start. try to knock down the S.Freaks and whirl him around so you can
hit Slash with him. This is a good way to lower his life. When you eliminate
both S.Freaks, the problems will begin. Try hitting him with consecutive
running attacks to knock him backwards. When he is knocked down, position
your character above or below the fallen Slash and wait until he gets up.
When he does, follow him and just before he gets in front of you, throw
punches or kicks to knock him down. Repeat until he loses. Remember, you
can't grab him or get close to him while he's on the ground. And stay away
from his front! He can drain your life, even if you're Bullova, quickly!

Once he's down, he tells the Combatribes to go at the Stadium at Harlem to
seek out the Barbarians. They have the information on Ground Zero they're
   looking for.

And The Combatribes say "This run-around really stinks!!" Guess they aren't
   too happy with this.

  Password:

This unlocks S.Freaks and Slash in the Versus Mode.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Act-4: The Stadium Barbarians
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   W.Riot: 4
   H.Squad: 4

This level's new enemy is W.Riot. He uses a knife to attack. He does more
damage than what other normal enemies can do. You can't grab and throw him,
either. Stay away from him and try to hit him from the sides, just like you
did with Slash. Or swing an enemy around to hit him and knock him down.

  Stage Boss: Wind Walker
  Helpers: W.Riot x 2, H.Squad x 1

Wind Walker is a stereotypical Native American. Which means he's wearing
an indian outfit that would seem at home in a cowboy movie. He's also using
a huge hatchet... which doesn't surprise me. This game was done by Japanese.
which means that the stereotypes will run wild.

Anyway. To beat him, do the same procedure you used against Fats. Approach
him from above or below, and hit him many times. He'll lose his hatchet
when he loses half his life. His normal attacks aren't so fast, and you can
hit him before they hit you, but he has a dash attack that knocks you down.
Be careful of the enemies that are helping him. The two W.Riots can drain
your life faster than what Wind Walker can do!

Once Wind Walker talks, he reveals the name of Ground Zero's leader: Martha
Splatterhead. The Combatribes say that they expected her to be the leader...
which makes no sense to me. Ah well. Wind Walker also tells them the
location of the group's base! So now it's time to go and stop Ground Zero!

This password unlocks W.Riot and Wind Walker in the Versus Mode.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Act-5: The Demolition Troops
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: This stage is named "The Slaughter Troops" in the Japanese version.

This stage is split in five floors. You'll fight the bosses you'd already
defeated and their cronies in each. When you arrive at the top floor,
  though...

When you beat everyone on the floor, you'll enter an elevator and fight two
H.Squads inside, with your entire stamina refreshed. After you beat them,
you'll go to the next floor, with full energy once more. I think this was
done so the final level wouldn't be impossible. :)

  Ground Floor:
   Fats
   H.Squad: 3
   L.Fish: 3

  10th Floor:
   Salamander
   G.Terror: 3
   K.Clown: 2

  20th Floor:
   Slash
   S.Freaks: 3

  30th Floor:
   Wind Walker
   W.Riot: 1
   H.Squad: 1

  Top Floor:
   H.Squad: 4
   Enforcer: 3

The Enforcers [or Execution, as they are known in the Japanese version] are
Green Berets that carry around a sniper rifle. They can attack you by
hitting you with the gun, or shooting at you from a distance. You can't
grab them, but you can hit them while they're on the ground. And, you
already know how to deal with H.Squad. ;)

  Stage Boss: M.Blaster
  Helpers: Enforcer x 2, H.Squad x 2

M.Blaster is an old acquaintance of the Combatribes, from the Army. He was
Colonel David back then; now he's a cyborg, enhanced in many ways.

Stay away from attacking him from the front or trying to hold him; his hands
are now formed of razor-sharp metal and he'll try to cut you open with them.
Grab the Enforcers and H.Squads and make them spin to hit him to reduce his
energy. Try to stay relatively close to him, because if you get away, he'll
line up with you and shoot at you with a cannon hidden inside his chest.

When you drain almost all of his life, you'll be able to knock him down.
He'll use thrusters in his back to get up; hit him with a running attack
as he falls down to the ground. Continue this until he is defeated.

When he's defeated, M.Blaster reveals why he escaped from the Army; their
Biotech labs turn Martha and him into cyborgs. They formed Ground Zero to
get revenge. He tells The Combatribes that Martha is in the roof. He warns
   you of her power...

   Mode.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Act-6: The Final Battle
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Martha appears before you, and The Combatribes ask her if she wants to come
back with them. She refuses, and says that the only way she'll go back is
if she is defeated. So the final battle starts...

I hope you've got at least two credits left. She's extremely difficult to
hit, and very powerful. To defeat her, keep hitting her with running attacks
to make her fly backwards. Keep doing this until you reach the edge of the
stage. Run back towards the other side, and pray she doesn't hit you by the
back first... then repeat the above instructions until she is beaten.

The best way to beat her is using Bullova's Running Punch, since it does
heavy damage and has good range.

 ******************************************************************************
  6 - Game Ending
 ******************************************************************************
Once Martha is beaten, she lays on the floor, tears in her eyes, thanking you
for stopping her uncontrollable acts. She closes her eyes... and dies.

Berzerker lifts up her body and takes her with him. The three are then shown
looking at the sun rise between the World Trade Center Towers, as the
  epilogue lines are displayed.

  "Once Martha was defeated,
   The Combatribes left...
   never to be seen again..."

While she's doing this, there is a small chance that Martha will

their guns 50% of the time.

Notes: She's extremely fast, and very powerful. Has decent range as well.
But most hits will send her flying backwards because her body isn't as heavy
  as say, Fats or M.Blaster.

  Thirty credits
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hold down the L, R and Select buttons on controller two; keep holding them.
and reset the game. Keep them held until the title screen appears (you may
use the Start button to skip the intro). Go into the options screen and
you'll see that you now have thirty credits. If you go down to the number and
try to change it, it'll decrease by two until it goes down to normal.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Super Difficulty Mode
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hold down the L, R, A and B buttons on controller two; keep holding them and
reset the game. Keep them held until the title screen appears. Go into the
options screen and you'll see that a new difficulty, Super, is now available.
Changing the difficulty in the options screen will not let you choose Super
again. In this mode, the enemies are much more agressive.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  One-round Vs. Matches
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hold down the A and B buttons on controller two; keep holding them and reset
the game. Keep them held until the title screen appears. Go into the Versus
mode and play as you normally would. You will only need to win one round to
  beat the opponent.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Five-round Vs. Matches
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hold down the X and Y buttons on controller two; keep holding them and reset
the game. Keep them held until the title screen appears. Go into the Versus
mode and play as you normally would. You will need to win five rounds to
  defeat the opponent.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  More energy
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hold down the L and R buttons, as well as Up on the control pad in controller
two; keep holding them and reset the game. Start a new game. When you first
start, you'll notice that you don't take much damage!

The problem is that this applies to the enemies as well. They'll take a lot
of hits before they vanish. I gave twelve consecutive "Pavement Kiss" hits to
a C.Squad in level one, and he didn't even die!

Special thanks go to the Mexican gaming magazine Club Nintendo for originally
printing these codes many years ago. I hope they don't mind me swiping their

  9 - Version Differences
 ******************************************************************************
All of these things are different in the Japanese version:

  ~ Enforcer is called Execution

  ~ M.Blaster is called Swastika!

~ Stage Five is called "The Slaughter Troops".

~ The bosses are covered in blood during the story display between levels.

~ The part in the ending where Martha is talking to the Combatribes is
    a little bit longer.

~ The game is in Japanese. Well, it could be in English!
