Version FINAL(2/27/02): Shortened the Copyright section and changed my e-mail
address. I'm not planning to update this document again.

Version 1.421(2/9/02): OK, this has been bugging me for a while, so I decided
to fix it. Sigma was not created by Dr. Wily >_<

3. STORY-------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you've played Mega Man X, you know that Zero gave up his life to save X from
Vile's armored carrier. That plays an important role in the storyline of this
game.

A new group of Mavericks, naming themselves the X-Hunters, have stolen Zero's
remaining parts (there are 3). But, they can't resurrect Zero without his
control chip (Dr. Cain has it). They are also attempting to ressurect Sigma.

Mega Man X's job is to get rid of the X-Hunters and retrieve Zero's parts to
resurrect him. He must also defeat his arch-nemesis Sigma AND Sigma's true
form, as a computer virus!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. CHARACTERS--------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

===========================================================================
GOOD GUYS
===========================================================================

Mega Man X: The main character of the whole series. A prototype reploid
created by the late Dr. Light 100 years ago, resurrected by Dr. Cain to help in
the fight against Sigma.

Zero: A member of the Maverick Hunters and a former Maverick, he helps X on his
journeys to defeat Sigma.

Dr. Cain: A scientist, controls the Maverick Hunters. Resurrected X from Dr.
Light's original prototype.

===========================================================================
BAD GUYS
===========================================================================

Sigma: The former leader of the Maverick Hunters, now a Maverick. Programmed
by Dr. Cain, his true form is a computer virus that gets into robot bodies and
controls them.

Agile: One of the "X-Hunters", always carries around a beam sword.
NOTE: If you look the word agile up in the dictionary, it means "quick/fast".
That's exactly when he is in battle.

Serges: One of the "X-Hunters", appears to be a Reploid scientist.

Violen: One of the "X-Hunters", the brute of the group, carries a large ball
and chain.

Wheel Gator: The Maverick leader of the Dinosaur Tank, always ready to take a
bite out of enemies.

Bubble Crab: The Maverick leader of the Sea Base, uses a bubble-like aura to
protect him from attacks.

Flame Stag: The Maverick leader of the Volcanic Zone, probably the quickest of
the Mavericks. It is believed his flames change from red to blue when his
energy is low.

Morph Moth: The Maverick leader of the Robot Junkyard, takes the forms of many
things, burns easily.

Magna Centipede: The Maverick leader of the Central Computer, uses his tail to
inject a virus into unlucky victims.

Crystal Snail: The Maverick leader of the Energen Crystal, has a powerful shell
that can withstand any attack.

Overdrive Ostrich: The Maverick leader of the Desert Base, challenges opponents
on an endless span of desert.

Wire Sponge: The Maverick leader of the Weather Center, uses his long arms to
move around and launch strong electric attacks.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. FAQ---------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

===========================================================================
Q: How do I get rid of the sub-bosses in the Robot Junkyard?
===========================================================================

A: The easiest method I know of is to use the Saw Wheel to break open the armor
shell, then use the Speed Burner on the tiny bug. Or, just use the X-buster
and repeat the technique a few times.

===========================================================================
Q: How do I get up the crushing pink walls?
===========================================================================

A: You find these in the opening area and the first area of the X-Hunters base.
 Very nasty indeed, you need to dash-wall jump (A and B off a wall) up it, and
sometimes have to switch walls. Practice is the key.

===========================================================================
Q: How do I defeat the giant fish in the Sea Base?
===========================================================================

A: The giant fish in the Sea Base can be very annoying. To quickly take it
out, use the Gear Crush. If you don't have it, or not a full charge for it,
hammer the fish with everything you've got.

===========================================================================
Q: What is the teleporter setup in X-Hunters Base Area 4?
===========================================================================

A:

Morph Moth                 Wheel Gator
Wire Sponge                Overdrive Ostrich
Bubble Crab                Crystal Snail
    Flame Stag         Magna Centipede

===========================================================================
Q: How do I defeat Agile, Serges, and Violen in the Maverick stages?
===========================================================================

A: Here's how:

---BOSS: AGILE---
Weakness: Magnet Mine
Get: A Zero Part
Not too hard. He only has two real attacks. He will dash and slash you with
his sword, or will shoot a giant energy shot at you. Use the Magnet Mine to hit
him and every move in the book to avoid being slashed into subatomic particles.

---BOSS: SERGES---
Weakness: Speed Burner
Get: A Zero Part
Easy. All he can do is drop mines, raise and lower his shield, and jump and do
somersaults while shooting projectiles. Speed Burner works best on him. When
he does the somersaults, just jump on and past his little platform thing.

---BOSS: VIOLEN---
Weakness: Bubble Stream
Get: A Zero Part
Hard. Don't worry about the little projectiles he shoots at you now and then.
Instead, worry about the giant spiked ball he launches around the screen. A
good way to take him down quickly is to use the Bubble shield trick like
against Flame Stag. Have at least one full E-Tank ready just in case something
really bad happens.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. WALKTHROUGH-------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

===========================================================================
OPENING STAGE
===========================================================================

---BOSS: GIANT REPLOID---
Weakness: X-buster
Get: N/A

This boss is too easy, even for an opening boss. Actually, it takes only 4
fully charged shots to send this dude to the scrap pile. Just be careful when
he starts to jump around and mess you up.

===========================================================================
DINOSAUR TANK
===========================================================================

---ENHANCEMENT---
Enhancement: Dual Blaster
Requires: Air Dash

When you first enter the tank, go to the right, down the ladders, and to the
right. In order to get the capsule, jump to the small wall blocking the upward
shaft. From there, drop down and Air Dash immediately. You'll receive the Dual
Blaster.

---HEART---
Required: Dual Blaster, Speed Burner

After the robot ride section, you'll see the heart above a wall of spikes.
Power up your Speed Burner and flame over the wall to reach the heart. This can
be very hard to reach if you don't watch out.

---X-HUNTER LOCATION---
Requires: N/A

On the last moving platform, go all the way up and to the right. Watch out for
all the spikes near the top.

---BOSS: WHEEL GATOR---
Weakness: Strike Chain
Get: Saw Wheel

Wheel Gator has a tendancy to go under the water, come up, and chomp you to
death. The trick is to stay on the walls and dash jump around the gears and
land back on the wall. While above the water, he will shoot gears toward you
that bounce on the water. These are very easy to avoid. Sometimes, he will go
"invincible" and shoot small particles at you. He may also dash to the other
side of the screen. When you hit him with the Strike Chain, he will go under
the water and do his gear routine. When he comes back up, whack him again. If
you're using the X-buster, just try to find some room and shoot him to death.
Actually, it's pretty easy to beat him.

===========================================================================
SEA BASE
===========================================================================

---HEART---
Required: N/A (although the Air Dash and/or Dual Blaster/Speed Burner help)

When the fish descends for the first time, go up the right wall and do one of
three things:
1- Air Dash from the top of the wall below the opening
2- Use the powered up Speed Burner from the same spot or
3- Dash Wall Jump from there

---E-TANK---
Required: Dual Blaster, Bubble Stream

Come back again after you beat Bubble Crab. When you see an energy capsule
inside an encased room (or is it?) power up your Bubble Stream so they spin
around you. Jump up to the surface, then immediately jump again to come out of
the water and reach the tank.

---X-HUNTER LOCATION---
Requires: N/A

Destroy the giant fish. At the mid-door, go up the shaft all the way to the
surface.

---BOSS: BUBBLE CRAB---
Weakness: Saw Wheel
Get: Bubble Stream

The Saw Wheel has many advantages in this battle. First off, it will penetrate
his bubble shield. Second, and probably most important, it will stop Bubble
Crab's attacks if he gets hit with it. Using the X-buster his highly not
recommended, as he attacks you with a barrage of attacks. Just use the Saw
Wheel and do your best to dodge him.

===========================================================================
VOLCANIC ZONE
===========================================================================

---E-TANK---
Required: N/A

Hop on the first beetle machine to take a ride to a secret ledge with the tank.
By the way, you can shoot down those machines if you need to.

---HEART---
Required: N/A (although Magnet Mine helps A LOT)

It's easiest to get this with the Magnet Mine. Work your way up the volcano
until you see a wall machine. Shoot a Magnet Mine at it, get the heart, and
escape the volcano, all in a short period of time.

---X-HUNTER LOCATION---
Requires: N/A

At the second beetle machine, get it to destroy the upper passage.

---BOSS: FLAME STAG---
Weakness: Bubble Stream
Get: Speed Burner

Flame Stag has only three real attacks. He will shoot fireballs at you, do a
flame dash towards you, and will wall jump from wall to wall. If you use the
Bubble Stream, it will stop him and he will shoot fireballs again. If you have
the Dual Blaster, power it up and stand next to him. When you hit him, he will
then shoot fireballs. After the first fireball, his invincibility should run
out and you will whack him again. He isn't that hard with the X-buster, but
you should come in with the Bubble Stream.

===========================================================================
ROBOT JUNKYARD
===========================================================================

---HEART---
Required: Crystal Hunter

Use the Crystal Hunter on the first shield guy, then jump off him to the roof.

---ENHANCEMENT---
Enhancement: Armor
Requires: Saw Wheel

Use the Saw Wheel when you reach a point in the beginning where the ground
stays the same color. It may take two to get the capsule, which is the Armor
enhancement, which gives you the Gear Crush. It destroys everything on the
screen (except for some sub and regular bosses). Bad part is, you get one shot
per full meter. It takes projectile hits from enemies to fill the meter up.

---X-HUNTER LOCATION---
Requires: N/A

Right after the first sub-boss, go down the ladder. Destroy the first shield
guy and go to the right of him.

---BOSS: MORPH MOTH---
Weakness: Speed Burner
Get: Silk Shot

At the start, you will see a little bug come down. Shoot him while dodging the
flying garbage. When he creates a spiral of trash, jump on the wall and over
him while following the direction of the trash. After he loses around 2/3 of
his energy, he will turn into Morph Moth. All he does is fly around, shoot
pixie dust, and shoots a painful laser. Stay along a wall to avoid the pixie
dust, then RUN when he stops to shoot the laser. Using the Speed Burner, it
will burn the bug, but will stop the real Moth's attacks. The X-buster is OK,
but just a little bit tougher to win with.

===========================================================================
CENTRAL COMPUTER
===========================================================================

---HEART---
Required: Dual Blaster, Speed Burner

In the first spotlight area, don't destroy the last security box. Power up the
Speed Burner to reach the box to jump up the walls.

---E-TANK---
Required: Dual Blaster, Speed Burner

In the last part of the first moving blocks area, dash across the blocks
between #2-3. Hop on the block, then dash jump, air dash, or power up your S.
Burner to reach the wall, almost like the heart.

---X-HUNTER LOCATION---
Requires: N/A

Avoid the spotlights down the shaft after the sword sub-boss. When you reach
the bottom, just dash under all the falling blocks to reach the far right wall.

---BOSS: MAGNA CENTIPEDE---
Weakness: Silk Shot
Get: Magnet Mine

Very easy with the Silk Shot, very hard with the X-buster. The most annoying
attack is when he brings you toward him, and he injects this stuff in you
(virus?) that makes you slower. He will also split his tail and have the parts
spin around you. Just jump out before they converge on you. He will also
shoot magnet mines that do a little 90 degree or so curve. Just jump them.
Watch out for his teleporting so he doesn't reappear on you. If you have the
Silk Shot, immediately shoot him and his tail thing will come off. Then all he
can do is teleport and shoot out magnet mines. Each time you hit him with the
Silk Shot, he will teleport somewhere else. If you're using the X-buster,
you're in deep trouble. Just do your best to shoot him as much as possible
before he injects you, because you lose your charged shot. Good luck.

===========================================================================
ENERGEN CRYSTAL
===========================================================================

---HEART---
Required: Dual Blaster, Strike Chain

After you enter the robot ride, go to the left and down the pit. Change your
weapon to the Strike Chain. Dash jump to the left, then jump out at the peak of
the jump. Hurry up and power up your Strike Chain and use it before you fall in
the pit.

If you are good, there is another method. Do the armor's charge move, then do
the jump in the middle of the charge. If your jump is long enough, you can get
to the ledge with just shooting your Strike Chain.

---X-HUNTER LOCATION---
Requires: N/A

Jump in the robot ride, and work your way to the first laser enemy past the
shaft with the ones on the walls. Dash jump to the ledge up and to the left and
destroy the blocks. Jump out of the suit to catch one of the moving platforms.
Go up from there.

---E-TANK---
Enhancement: Helmet
Requires: N/A

In the wide pit after the sub-boss, fall down the left side and go to the left
through the tunnel to reach the Radar Helmet capsule, which will help you find
hidden items.

---BOSS: CRYSTAL SNAIL---
Weakness: Magnet Mine
Get: Crystal Hunter

Crystal Snail is totally annoying!!!!!!!! When he shoots off the crystal
bubbles, stay in a very high place to avoid them. He will then spin in his
shell, then dash towards you. If you have extreme luck, you can easily dodge
him. Near the end, when his energy is low enough, he will totally mess up the
screen and slow everything down except for him. Then, he will dash freely and
frequently. Whack him with the Magnet Mine and he will come flying out of his
shell, inflicting additional damage. Then, he will slow down everything.
Shoot a Magnet Mine so he lands on it when he comes down. Repeat as necessary.
 If you use the X-buster, you're in real deep trouble. Very very good luck.

===========================================================================
DESERT BASE
===========================================================================

---X-HUNTER LOCATION---
Requires: Saw Wheel

Use the Saw Wheel on the outlined passage on the first wall.

---HEART---
Required: N/A

Hop on a bike, and work your way back inside. You need to dash up some ramps to
reach there. You will reach an area surrounded by spikes. The heart is at the
end. If you turn quick enough, you can get out without crashing into the
spikes.

---ENHANCEMENT---
Enhancement: Air Dash
Requires: Saw Wheel

Near the end, above the final shaft, jump to the right wall. Use the S. Wheel
to break through the blocks to access the Air Dash capsule.

---BOSS: OVERDRIVE OSTRICH---
Weakness: Crystal Hunter
Get: Sonic Slicer

This battle takes place on an endless span of desert, so feel free to run as
much as you need to. You'll be doing a lot of it. Overdrive Ostrich has a lot
of attacks. He dashes toward you. He jumps toward you. He shoots boomerangs
at you. He makes boomerangs rain from the sky. He jumps into the background
and back into the foreground, on you. Use the Crystal Hunter to freeze him,
then shoot it again when he's done recovering. It takes less than 30 seconds
to do it this way. The X-buster also works well. You just need to avoid all
of his attacks. Easier said than done.

===========================================================================
WEATHER CENTER
===========================================================================

---HEART---
Required: N/A

From the start, go left and jump up the wall.

---E-TANK---
Required: N/A

On the first moving platform, jump up to the left wall, then to the right.
There will be 4 platforms. The tank is on the upper-right one.

---X-HUNTER LOCATION---
Requires: N/A

At the elevator, go down and to the right to find the passage.

---BOSS: WIRE SPONGE---
Weakness: Sonic Slicer
Get: Strike Chain

Not too hard, even with the X-buster. All his attacks invlve either stretching
his arms around in 5,000 directions, shooting little plant finger things at
you, or frying you with electricity. When you hit him with the Sonic Slicer,
his attacks will cease, and it will knock him down if he's hanging from the
ceiling. At the end, if you used Sonic Slicer to beat him, he will split in
half, then blow up. If you have the Speed Burner, that works well too.

===========================================================================
X-HUNTERS BASE: AREA 1
===========================================================================

---BOSS: VIOLEN---
Weakness: Bubble Stream
Get: N/A
Exactly the same, except he creates blocks in mid-air that change the path of
the spiked ball if it hits one of them. Use the same technique as before and
this is no problem.

===========================================================================
X-HUNTERS BASE: AREA 2
===========================================================================

---BOSS: SERGES---
Weakness: Speed Burner
Get: N/A
Harder. At the beginning, he will have four laser tubes blocking him. When you
and Serges are at the same position. the closest tube will shoot something at
you. If you have the Gear Crush, use it to instantly blow the tubes up.
Otherwise, use Magnet Mine. When he is left alone, he will destroy one to two
blocks and shoot projectiles at you. They will split into four smaller shots
after he shoots them. There is a slight pattern that the splitting has. Use
the Speed Burner and aim high so you will hit him and not his shield.

===========================================================================
X-HUNTERS BASE: AREA 3
===========================================================================

---ENHANCEMENT (TOP SECRET)---
Enhancement: Dragon Punch
Requires: Dual Blaster, Air Dash, Crystal Hunter, Strike Chain

Actually, this really isn't a true enhancement, it's actually a secret. Since
it's a capsule, though, I'll call it an enhancement. How do you get it? Refer
to this walkthrough:

To get this, you must have compiled every heart, enhancement (not counting this
one), and E-Tank. When you reach the two ladders, use the Crystal Hunter to
freeze one of the bats to get to the upper one. Destroy the shield guy, and go
to the upper-left corner for a 1-UP. Use the Crystal Hunter to freeze a bat ot
two to cross the spiked pit. If you need to, use the walls of the sunken
ceiling as stopping stations to Air Dash to the next one. Kill the enemies,
then use the Air Dash to get through the small gap between the spikes. Now,
walk up to the next set of spikes. This next part must be done VERY quickly,
so listen carefully. Standing on the edge, power up the Strike Chain. When
you let it go, wait until the split-second before the chain touches the wall,
then jump. You'll be pulled toward the right. While falling to the left of
the wall, quickly face left and Air Dash to the 1-Up. Now, slide down the left
wall of the shaft. Soon, you will go through the wall. Walk left to the
capsule, and get the Dragon Punch. When you have full energy, you can perform
it by pressing in Forward, Down, Dowm/Forward, and Y, just like in Street
Fighter (another good Capcom series). Whew, that's a long walkthrough!

---BOSS: AGILE---
Weakness: Magnet Mine
Get: N/A
Easier. He will turn red and dash toward one of the walls. He will also
drop some ledges down on you. He also will shoot some sparks at you. Stay on
the left wall and shoot Magnet Mines at him. He will be dead in no time.

===========================================================================
X-HUNTERS BASE: AREA 4
===========================================================================

This is the area where you have to defeat the Mavericks again. Use the
teleporter set-up in the FAQ section to figure it out.

===========================================================================
X-HUNTERS BASE: AREA 5
===========================================================================

---BOSS: ZERO---
Weakness: Speed Burner
Get: N/A

If you couldn't collect all 3 of Zero's parts in the Maverick Stages, you have
to battle him here. You will need to dodge his slashes, dashes, and his
"earthquake" move. Use the Speed Burner at any time possible and use the Air
Dash off a wall to try to dodge the "earthquake".

---BOSS: SIGMA #1---
Weakness: Sonic Slicer
Get: N/A

He will shoot sparks, slash you, and teleport around. Use the Sonic Slicer to
put a quick end to him.

---BOSS: SIGMA #2---
Weakness: Strike Chain
Get: N/A

The final boss and Sigma's true form!!!! Despite it's power, the virus has
only three attacks. It will teleport, shoot a laser, and shoot enemies. The
enemies are very useful, as some of them give you energy and weapon energy.
Near the end, it will teleport and try to trap you inside it. Keep moving
around and use the Strike Chain. If you get trapped inside, have at least one
full E-Tank just in case you are in it too long.
