I dedicate this FAQ to the guys over at Retronintendo. Although I refer to
all members there, I also specifically point out Michael and Jeromy, as
those guys are dedicated to their craft, which is a rarity in today's world
of jumping all over the place. Way to go dudes and I am sure the site will
continue to increase in popularity!

Also, for Cougar, Howler, and Koonce. I miss you, and I hope you are living
it up in the afterlife as you did in this world. You will always be in my
memories, and you will never be forgotten.

1) The following is taken directly from the Soul Blazer Instruction Booklet
   and is in no way the work of Brian P. Sulpher:

The Freil Empire, as it was called in those days, was ruled by a powerful
man, King Magridd. It seems most people thought the King was a fair and
kind ruler. There were some, however, who felt the King himself was ruled
by greed.

One day the King happened to overhear two guards talking about a man named
Dr. Leo. Now Dr. Leo was considered by all to be a great inventor and a
genius. The King stayed up many nights wondering how he could use this
great inventor to make him even more wealthy. All of the sudden the King
had an idea. He ordered his guards to capture Dr. Leo and bring him to the
castle at once!

Soon Dr. Leo was brought to the castle. The King confined him to a small
room and ordered him to invent a machine that would summon the King of
evil, Deathtoll.

Dr. Leo finally completed the machine. The King instantly called upon
Deathtoll, hoping they might strike a deal. After many days the deal was
complete. The King would bring Deathtoll all living creatures, and in
return, Deathtoll would give him a gold piece for each. One by one, all
living creatures began to disappear. They either became servants of
Deathtoll or were banished to Monster Lairs.

2) This section will examine the controls to use to save all creatures from
   greedy King Magridd and Deathtoll's evil influences!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) This section will examine the game in-depth, covering every necessary
   step for completing this wonderful game.

   A quick note about the various fights that occur in the game over monster
   lairs; if a life form is released, they will be denoted by square brackets
   (i.e. [-------]). This will make it easier to note where certain missing
   lives can be found specifically. Also note that at any time a dungeon
   can be exited to visit with the freed friends, but the walkthrough will
   push as far into the dungeons as possible before exiting to move the plot
   forward.

                             o----------------o
The Trial Room
                             o----------------o

After receiving the marching orders from the higher power like disembodied
voice (including the naming of yourself and such), head through the portal
on the left. Now go forward and open the treasure chest and open it to get
the Sword Of Life, so equip it and go start the reclamation of the world by
taking on the first monster lair, stepping on the switch that will appear.
An old man will appear here, so speak to him for the Flame Ball Magic as
well as having him join you as the Soul Of Magician. Now head back to the
Master via the nearby portal.

                              o--------------o
Grass Valley
                              o--------------o

Up appearing from the Grass Valley Shrine, an open and empty field will
greet the Soul Blazer. Head downwards to find a stairway leading to a small
Tulip that speaks to the Soul Blazer, imploring him to enter the nearby
Underground Castle and free the trapped souls within. Heed this advice and
go inside.

                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Underground Castle, West ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tackle the first monster lair by using the pillars for cover, taking out the
enemies to step on the switch to open a path forward.  Fight the next
monster lair by using the wooden walls to feed the enemy through (this will
also time out their invincibility period nicely), stepping on the monster
lair [an old woman] before going up across the bridge to take out the next
monster lair, revealing a treasure that holds a Medical Herb!
Go left and fight the first of what will be many enemies that exist without
a monster lair, and they will always reappear after every exiting of the
area as well as release a new life form.  After dispatching the shooting
torch (use the L/R Button to block shots and stab the enemy), go speak to
the large blue gem, which houses a fairy.  These fairies will grant special
gifts, refill life, and sometimes offer to send the Soul Blazer back to the
main area of each section of the world (this one grants 30 Experience
Points).  Go up to find a bridge, leading to a new monster lair to take out,
followed by continuing upward to find a second monster lair nearby [tool
shop owner].  Next are some torches to destroy, leaving a treasure chest
unguarded (which possesses 12 GEMs), followed by going around the side of
the wall to find a monster lair to dispatch [tulip].
Head right across the conveyor belt to locate another monster lair [the
bridge guard] before moving down to find more torches and a monster lair
populated by small flies that home in on the Soul Blazer.  Raid the newly
appeared treasure chest to get the Dream Rod, leading to a backtrack across
the wooden bridge to go right and down across the conveyor belt, finding a
torch to dismantle.  Knock out the next monster lair to open up the enemies
in the enclosed area, taking them out [ivy] before moving on to the left,
riding the conveyor belt down to the lower area where the next monster lair
can be taken out with minimal fuss.  Move down to the next land area to
battle another monster lair [the water mill keeper], followed by exiting the
Underground Castle to Grass Valley.
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Grass Valley ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head up from the Underground Castle to the stairs, going straight up until a
house can be entered. Inside is an Old Woman who will heal the Soul Blazer
at any time provided you consent to be her son (so lie to the old coot, she
is lonely and needs attention!). Next up, move out to the right to find a
shop where a Medical Herb can be acquired if you possess none, followed by
speaking to the special guard of the bridge while en route to the water mill
on the far side of the river. Speak to the water mill keeper and help him
out by turning the wheel for his weakened body, which will open the way
forward in the Underground Castle!

Before heading belowground once more, head straight down from the water mill
to take the ivy down to a small cave, where the Fairy GEM will yield 80
Experience Points and the two treasure chests hold Iron Armor (equip it!)
and 50 GEMs. With this done, feel free to save before entering the
Underground Castle once again!

                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Underground Castle, West ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fight over to the right, reaching the now powered-up elevator, riding it to
the next level of the floor, taking out the monster lair [an old man] before
continuing into the next area.
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Underground Castle, East ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tackle the monster lair in the room above the entrance [a goat], followed by
going upwards to use magic on the torch enemies, followed by tackling both
monster lairs, with the top one [tulip] and bottom one [Lisa] both releasing
held life forms. Wipe out the torches again while continuing to move onwards
here, tackling slimes before reaching an enclosed area where another monster
lair lies in wait [an architect]. Once back in the Underground Castle, go
to the higher ledge and defeat the foes found there, followed by going right
and upwards to take out two monster lairs simultaneously, with the right one
[tool shop's owner son]] and left one [ivy] releasing more life forms. Now
go back to the left and begin riding the conveyor belt upwards until fly
enemies begin to attack, so kill them to begin a process of claiming four
monster lairs, with the fourth one [a goat] being the end of the battling.

Ride down the conveyor belt on the right side, reaching an area with slimes
to defeat, followed by dealing with two monster lairs in a row [tulip] while
dodging torch and other enemy projectiles. Upon returning head to the left,
tackling the next monster lair to open a shortcut back to the starting area
of this portion of the Underground Castle, which is then followed by a jaunt
into the conveyor belt portions ahead where torch fire must be dodged.
Fight through the foes ahead to liberate another monster lair [an old man]
and to find a fairy GEM that will return you to Grass Valley if you so
desire (and you should do so).

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Grass Valley ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Talk to the Tool Shop Owner's Son for some Goat's Food, so go use it on the
Gourmet Goat on the far side of the river to receive a hot tip on the
painting where the Chieftain is being held!  Now head for the house on the
far east side of town, entering to find a sleeping girl.  Use the Dream Rod
on her to enter her dreams, where Lisa will be crying out for her father.
Although nothing can be done now, the Soul Blazer can step on the switch to
open a pathway in the Underground Castle!  Upon leaving her dream, hike back
to the Underground Castle, heading for the East portion.
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Underground Castle, East ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head down at the first intersection, tangling with the enemy on the right
for their monster lair [an old man] before backtracking to go left to find
Leo's Brush in a treasure chest! With this done, head back into Grass
Valley!

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Grass Valley ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go speak to Lisa once more, showing her Leo's Brush, which will cause her to
explain some things as well as have it explained where to go next.  Head up
the stairs to the house on the hill, entering to touch the painting, which
will send the Soul Blazer into the next area!
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                         ~~~~ Leo's Paintings ~~~~
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tackle the first tow monster lairs, stepping on the two switches, with the
left switch [tulip] releasing a life form. In the next room are torch
enemies to destroy, opening the monster lair up to trigger the wall ahead,
moving through to face two more monster lairs, the second of which holds a
life form [a lonely goat].

Once the Soul Blazer moves into the next area, facing off against two birds
monster lairs, the higher one releasing a life form [ivy] while the lower one
opens the path forward. Grab the Medical Herb from the treasure chest
before tackling the block enemies to remove the blocks ahead via the monster
lair, followed by fighting the spear throwing enemies to open the stairway
to the next area. You will note a metal enemy monster lair here that can
not be harmed, so just ignore them for now, as you will need to return later
on to defeat them with the proper sword.

Do not move upon entering the room, instead stand there and slash each spear
throwing enemy as they draw near, leaving the monster lair [a goat] open to
be claimed, leading into a run to the right to take out some living blocks
to claim their monster lair [a boy]. Head up the slim pillar above to take
out a set of birds for the monster lair they spawn from [tulip] before
moving along the conveyor belts to go up to the top-left portion of the
area to head to the next area.

Move up the conveyor belt and fight the speak chucking monsters by staying
on the left side of the conveyor belt and hacking them when they draw near,
hitting the monster lair to open up a new path to the Master at the Grass
Valley Shrine! This is an excellent opportunity to save the game and refill
your health, but first go up the conveyor belt to kill some torches to
release their monster lair [a boy]. Finally, head up the middle of the
conveyor belt and slash the spear chucking foes to get their monster lair
released (opening the path forward), but first go back to the Master and
save. The next sub-section will cover other things that can be done back at
Grass Valley, but doing these things are entirely optional, so if you wish
to continue onwards, skip forwards to the next Leo's Paintings section.

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Grass Valley ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go to the east side of town and speak to the lone goat by itself, following
it around the town.  Once it reaches the goat enclosure, search the
bottom-right corner of the fence as it prompts you to do, locating a Medical
Herb!  Next up is the southeast portion of town, going past the small hut
towards the sleeping tulip, facing downwards or upwards before holding down
either L Button or R Button, followed by pushing against the tulip to make
it move.  Step onto the spot where it once stood, grabbing the Clubhouse
Pass, followed by going back to the Master and heading back into the
Painting via the portal on the right side of the shrine.
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                         ~~~~ Leo's Paintings ~~~~
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head up the conveyor belt and pass through the opening above to find the
Boss of the area!

Metal Mantis is the big bad man here, boasting three conveyor belts that
lead up to his ledge where he patrols back and forth, seeking to attack with
his fireballs from afar. What the Soul Blazer needs to do is to hold down
either the L Button or R Button while charging up the central conveyor belt.
After the beast walks into a few damaging blows from the held out sword,
retreat down the conveyor belt and go to one side, dodging the fireballs he
shoots while drawing him near to one side. Now is the time to go after him
in the same manner, playing this game of cat and mouse, whittling down his
Hit Points. He can typically kill you in about five or so hits (or even
quicker if he lands a blow with his claws), so be sure to have the Medical
Herb equipped to ensure that you have a second shot at him if he gets you.
Keep at him and he will soon go down in defeat, releasing the Village Chief!

Now head back into the previous area, passing through the portal to go back
to Grass Valley!

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Grass Valley ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head for the house above the original portal from the Master's Grass Valley
Shrine, heading upstairs to speak to the Village Chief, who will bestow the
Brown Stone upon the Soul Blazer (thanks to Dr. Leo via a dream to let this
occur... that man thinks of everything it seems)!  With the rock in hand,
perform any last minute business left in this area (maybe grab a Medical
Herb from the Tool Shop if you are out), followed by going to the Master at
the Shrine and asking him to Move you, choosing the next destination on the
map!
                               o-----------o
GreenWood
                               o-----------o
Head out of the GreenWood Shrine to arrive in the Woods of GreenWood,
heading to the right through the desolate area to find a bridge leading off
screen.
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~~~~ Lostside, A Marsh ~~~~
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head right to tangle with mud monsters, taking their monster lair [a bird]
before continuing onward to cross a dockside path that is littered with
enemies who hop on and off the bridge (these foes will regain all health if
they retreat to the water, so take them out only if possible in one round
of attacks). Take the top dock path to take out more mud monsters, stepping
onto their monster lair to extend the path above that area, followed by
going up past that spot to take out mud monsters to get their monster lair
[a dog]. Now backtrack to the new dock path to take out a monster lair to
open the nearby structure, entering it.

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Water Shrine ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go left and kill the mud monsters on the small island, using the monster
lair to form bridges to the next island to the right where more enemies with
reach exist, so use the Fireball Magic to take them out from a safe
distance, claiming their monster lair [a squirrel].  Head back down to the
bottom of the area, going left and up to find a staircase leading downwards.
Go up to destroy a series of mud monsters to use their monster lair to open
the path on the right (watch out for the lizard foe from the water),
followed by crossing said bridge and taking on more lizards from the water
while battling the plant enemies from a monster lair [a bird].  Move to the
right and downwards, taking on lizard enemies to reach a more open area,
going right and up to take out the plant monsters at the top of the area,
stepping on the monster lair to open the path to the nearby treasure chest
which holds 150 GEMs.
Return to the fork in the path, this time turning to the left to find mud
monsters to tackle, releasing a Fairy GEM from their monster lair, so talk
to the Fairy for 180 Experience Points and receive the option to go back to
GreenWood.  Head left to find a Medical Herb in a treasure chest, followed
by taking out more mud monsters to get their monster lair [a mole] free from
Deathtoll's icy grip (which is good, as he claims to have help for the Soul
Blazer upon his return).  Head down the nearby stairs, going left and down
to tackle some enemy plants, taking their monster lair to make a treasure
chest appear, finding the Delicious Seeds!  Now go back up the stairs,
returning to the Woods of GreenWood via the Fairy GEM.
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                       ~~~~ Woods Of GreenWood ~~~~
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head up from the entrance to go and enter the Squirrel Exchange, equipping
the Delicious Seeds to trade to the Squirrel found inside to receive the
Psycho Sword, which can be used to temporarily stun (though not hurt) metal
enemies! Now head left to go see the Master (saving and refilling the Soul
Blazer's life), followed by exiting to walk downwards to find a hole to
enter. Speak to the lone mole inside, who reveals himself as the Soul Of
Light, joining the Soul Blazer to light up the darkest areas that lie in the
battles ahead!

With that done, head back into Lostside to continue onwards.

                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~~~~ Lostside, A Marsh ~~~~
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fight through the various lizards that exist, entering the Water Shrine.
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Water Shrine ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Fight through the default enemies to get back into the semi-darkened
basement area (where the Delicious Seeds were found), this time moving
upwards at the fork to tackle the mud monsters to claim their monster lair,
opening up a new area with plant enemies to use Fireball Magic on to defeat,
grabbing their monster lair [a crocodile]. Head upwards to find more mud
monsters, stepping onto the monster lair to open the area on the right,
searching the central square to find a Strange Bottle before backtracking
to the left to keep moving upwards, facing a line of statues. Look for the
darker statues when the Soul Of Light highlights them, slashing them quickly
to take them down, going after their monster lairs, unleashing life forms
[a squirrel] [a mole]. Next up are mud monsters that have a monster lair
that holds a treasure chest with 50 GEMs inside, so take that before
advancing further into the dungeon to find a staircase leading upwards.

Walk up to the statue to make it being moving, hunting it down to release
the monster lair [a deer], followed by going up the stairs. Head left to
fight lizards and mud monsters (the monster lair creates a shortcut to the
bottom of this area, right near the entrance to the Water Shrine), working
towards the treasure chest that holds 50 GEMs (be watchful for the lizard
guardian of this area). Once this is done, head back towards the stairs,
going up and left to exit the Water Shrine!

                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~~~~ Lostside, A Marsh ~~~~
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Immediately walk to the left of the dock path, going up to start taking out
mud monsters, claiming their monster lair [a dog] before going to the right
to go down and take out the plant monsters to find a path to the Master
after claiming the monster lair!  Head back to the previous monster lair,
rushing across the dock bridge to take on the flower enemy quickly before
taking out the plant monster lair, opening the path into the Fire Shrine!
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                           ~~~~ Fire Shrine ~~~~
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Note that the metal enemies here can not be defeated, though the Psycho
Sword can stun them momentarily. Start off by going to the far right, going
up to kill off the ghosts to claim their monster lair [a dog], followed by
going over to the next small pathway upwards, tackling the lizard foes to
use their monster lair to open up a staircase. Ignore the stairs for now,
instead going left past that pathway to find another lizard monster lair to
take out, revealing a treasure chest that holds a Medical Herb, followed by
going back to the right to go down the stairs.

The treasure chest that lies nearby is empty, so go right to take out
lizards so their monster lair can reveal stairs that lead further into the
Fire Shrine as well as a ghost infested monster lair [a dog] down and to the
right. Now move right and down, followed by going to the left to get at
some sneaky lizard foes (they move through the ground, so whomp them when
they surface) to free their monster lair [a crocodile], followed by going up
the left side of this semi-maze area to locate another set of lizard foes at
another monster lair [a squirrel]. Return to the starting area in this
section, going down the stairs that appeared over the empty treasure chest.

Follow the pathway to find some burning monsters to kill, claiming the
monster lair [a mole] before crossing the heat bridge ahead quickly to take
out the ghosts, also taking their monster lair [a squirrel]. Continue to
the right and cross the large heat bridge that will appear (wait for it to
cool down before starting across), killing the lizards to make a Fairy GEM
appear on the path below. Go speak to the Fairy to receive the Light Arrow
Magic, followed by going back to the Woods of GreenWood when prompted to do
so.

                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                       ~~~~ Woods Of GreenWood ~~~~
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head to the left and go through the mole hole where the one mole seeks
something that once belonged to Monmo, going through the other exit to
arrive on an island with a squirrel and a sleeping stump.  Use the Dream Rod
to enter the dream of the Stump, spotting a bird, BUT DO NOT speak to it at
first, instead walking to the right to step on a monster lair switch,
removing some flowers first (speak to the bird to exit the dream).  Now head
back through the mole hole, exiting to go up towards the stage, walking
behind it to wander through the open path in the flowers, going left to find
a treasure chest which holds the Ice Armor (special ability is to block out
the heat on the fire bridges in the Fire Shrine)!
Now go visit the Master, taking the left portal to go to Lostside once more.
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~~~~ Lostside, A Marsh ~~~~
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Fight through the default enemies, reaching the Fire Shrine once again.

Get back down to the third floor, getting to the last area near the long
heat bridge, this time going to the right from that locale, going up the
first bridge to fight the underground moving lizards, using their monster
lair to extend the next bridge to the platform above. Repeat the monster
lair claiming from the moving lizards to extend the next bridge over, going
up the newly built pathway to go left past the metal scorpions to find a
treasure chest holding 100 GEMs. Now go up and around the bridge set up,
taking out the lizards to claim the monster lair [a bird], followed by going
to the left to pass more metal scorpions, finding fire foes to bash into
submission, reclaiming another monster lair [a mole]. Keep fighting on to
find a lizard monster lair [a deer], a treasure chest on the right with 60
GEMs inside, and a staircase up to the next floor.

Once the top most floor of the Fire Shrine is reached, go right to kill the
fire monsters to open a path down to the bottom area of the floor, followed
by going right to go down the stairs, facing ghosts to claim their monster
lair [a squirrel]. Once this is done, go down the new path on the previous
floor, heading out the front end of the Fire Shrine.

red bird to end the dream walk. Talk to the red bird before going up across
the crocodiles, entering the hole to go and step on the bones of Turbo,

Go across the two rafts and kill the flowers, crossing a boardwalk to kill
mud monsters for their monster lair [a mole] before crossing the next raft
area to go down and kill another mud monster set for the second monster lair

to the Light Shrine, but when you step off the second raft, step right back
on to ride the raft to a Fairy GEM, receiving 150 Experience Points for
speaking to her! Now go back to the entrance to the Light Shrine, this time
heading inside.

Go up to the right and kill the lizards, opening the barrier on the right,
clearing out the ghosts there to clear the barrier above the monster lair.
Go tackle the lizards at the next lair, opening the barrier above the area to
allow the Soul Blazer to go upwards past the large fireball, instead
concentrating on lizards that move through the ground, taking them out.
With two more barriers down, move to the left and go down the passage to
find fire throwing foes to kill, going left after hitting the switch to find
morphing lizards to crank, opening the barrier above. Take out the morphing
lizards next to go up to kill the fire foes to take the monster lair
[a squirrel] before finally tackling the fire flicking foes near the bottom
of the area, extinguishing their fighting spirit, moving down to bait the
ghosts on the right to cross the barrier, whacking them to open the path to
the stairs that lead downwards.

Go to the top-right portion of the room to kill the lizards (watch out for
them, as they morph with near invisibility unless they are in direct light
from your Soul Ball), opening the path ahead to find a passage going
downwards past more of the floating firesouls to find a second set of
lizards to take out to claim their monster lair [a crocodile]. Continue
onwards to come to a narrowing in the hallway, finding two monster lairs,
the top one with lizards pouring out of the monster lair, which reveals the
portal to the Master, while the bottom monster lair [a mole] has fire foes
to fight. Before taking the portal to the Master, go take out the final
lair in the area (three ghosts).

Back in town, head for the right side of town from the Master's Shrine,
speaking to the mole, who so happens to be Monmo! Lead her to the mole hole
with the rock beside it, speaking to her when she stands on the hole,
followed by going inside to open the treasure chest to find the Mole's
Ribbon! Head back out of the hole the way you entered, going right to enter
the next hole over, equipping the Mole's Ribbon to speak to the mole, who
will move aside to let the Soul Blazer past. Speak to the mole in the small
alcove to get the Shield Bracelet!

Now head onto the stage to get a Medical Herb (if needed)by playing their
silly game, followed by saving the game at the Master, leaving the use of
the portal on the right to go back to the Light Shrine.

                          ~~~~ Light Shrine ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Go left and then up (avoiding the firesoul foes) to pass the torch in the
hall, reaching the exit to find the Boss of the area!

This fight is composed of three different statues, each attacking
individually, so start with the one in the top left of the room. The
Lightning Statue shoots bolts of electricity in four directions (moving in a
clockwise direction as it rotates quickly to fire), followed by moving
before beginning the attack pattern over. Attack from an angle to make sure
the foe is defeated with no loss of life (barring direct physical contact).

Next up is the statue on the far right of the room. The Water Statue
attacks by firing a spot of water that will pool on the ground (damaging on
the spit attack and if touched while on the ground) before moving to start
attacking again and again. Although it is an odd strategy, the best way to
handle the foe is to stand near it and keep slashing, taking a few hits
while whittling down the superior health of the foe (do not worry, as the
Shield Bracelet will keep the statue from ripping out a large chunk of
health... just be sure it is equipped!).

Lastly, the lone remaining statue in the center of the room will be next.
Much like the Water Statue, the Fire Statue will keep moving and firing, but
the fire of this foe has an extra mean surprise of being able to trail the
Soul Blazer, so be ready to run away from such an attack. To tackle this
foe, equip the same strategy as the Water Statue, but be ready to switch to
the Medical Herb if the health of the Soul Blazer dips under 20% of his
total health (after the Medical Herb kicks in, switch back to the Shield
Bracelet).

With this foe disabled, the fight is over, so head back into the previous
area, passing through the portal to go back to Woods of GrrenWood!

return, and he will bestow the Green Stone for the fine efforts done on
behalf of all the animals in GreenWood. Head to the squirrel exchange on
the right, entering to talk to the squirrel on the right, who will give the
Soul Blazer Master Emblem C! With nothing else left to accomplish here, go
ask the Master to send the Soul Blazer onto the next area!

                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The monster lair lacking foes here are jumping fish that spit bubbles, so be
ready to dodge their initial attack, followed by getting into position to
dispatch them the next time they pop up out of the water.  Move along the
path to locate a monster lair [a dolphin] with coconut spitting trees,
which leads to a long path of fighting gorillas (they throw rocks, so fight
from cover), killing them all to go after their monster lair on the left at
the fork in the path.  Head up along the water and face the gorillas to
open the path up to the tree foes, claiming their monster lair [a mermaid].
Backtrack to the fork, this time heading to the right to find a large
tornado throwing bird to kill, allowing the Soul Blazer to take the downward
path, killing the first rock monster for a monster lair, opening two gorilla
monster lairs.
Just stand still and kill the gorillas as they come towards the Soul Blazer,
claiming the top monster lair [a mermaid] and the bottom monster lair
[a mermaid], leading into walking around the treed in path ahead, clobbering
the rock foes for their monster lair.  Take out the tree foes in the newly
opened area to make a treasure chest appear, which holds a Medical Herb.
Now go back and look for the monster lair from the bird that attacked
earlier, followed by going up over the land bridge that forms, walking
around the scenic trees to tackle the tree monsters, revealing a new monster
lair.  The island has rock foes all over it, so take on the tough foes one
at a time, opening the monster lair to reveal a gorilla monster lair
[a mermaid], but luckily it is the last lair that can be reached for now, so
exit the area via the portal and head back to the Seabed Sanctuary.
of the path, speaking to the Mermaid to get the Bubble Armor, which has
better defense than the Ice Armor and allows the Soul Blazer to breathe
underwater!  Now head out the exit just below the Mermaid to continue the
journey.
This time go to the right, looking for charging jellyfish foes to destroy
(slash as they approach to keep them at bay) to get their monster lair
liberated to create a stairway.  Take the newly opened path to find a couple
urchins, followed by getting back onto the dark soil of the bottom of the
sea, turning right and upwards to get onto a large green area.  Take on the
urchins and a jellyfish monster lair [a mermaid], followed by going upwards
to face some seahorses.  Continue upwards and wrap around the green seaweed
barriers, going down to tackle the new jellyfish monster lair before
continuing to the right, going up the stairs to the next area of Rockbird.
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Walk to the right along the bottom of the area, taking out the always
dangerous tornado throwing bird monster lair, revealing two treasure chests
(the higher one holds a Medical Herb and the lower one holds 60 GEMs). Next
up are the nearby tree foes and their monster lair, which will reveal a
gorilla monster lair to take out. Head right to the next pond that has
drained, first taking out the tree enemies before using magic from a
distance to remove the rock foes in the depression (they are too tough in
the enclosed area to tackle safely) to grab the monster lair [a mermaid].

Head up into the next depression, fighting the rock hurling gorillas for
their particular monster lair [a mermaid], followed by moving onwards to
find three rock foes to bash to remove the water from a pond nearby. Go to
the left to defeat the bird to reveal a Fairy GEM, which will hand out a
very handy 200 Experience Points! Go to the far right of the area, locating
gorillas and their monster lair to drain a pond, which holds another gorilla
monster lair to take to drain a pond to the south of that location.

The rock foes in this depression should be taken out quickly, draining the
next pond in the line to find more rock foes, taking their monster lair to
begin a BRUTAL fight! FOUR MONSTER LAIRS will be revealed, with two gorilla
monster lairs and two tree monster lairs being the set-up, fight it out with
the bottom-right lair first, getting a small safe area to fight from. Take
out the rest with as much safety being employed as possible, using Magic to
deal a lot of damage to foes all over the area quickly. Once the dust has
settled from the massive brawl, claim the four monster lairs, with the
top-left removing a rock, the top-right [a mermaid's statue] releasing a
life form that will open the next battle area, the bottom-right removing a
rock, and the bottom-left [an angelfish] releasing a helpful life form that
will be visited momentarily. Now double check to see if any monster lairs
remain (none should), followed by either walking back (more experience via
urchins) or use the Fairy GEM, but get back to the Seabed Sanctuary.

Head out of the building and go right, passing the mermaid blocking a
passage to instead go down and speak to the angelfish, receiving the Soul of
Shield when he joins you! Walk down and to the left to find a small door
that is a side entrance to the exit building for St. Elles, opening the
treasure chest to get the Mermaid's Tears. Finally, head for the center of
the area, speaking to the statue that has recently appeared, and it will
release the obstacle on the Seabed. Time to venture back onto the Seabed,
so exit through the bottom of the area.

Head right to go down through the narrow green escarpment (killing urchins),
turning left this time to go and take out a jellyfish monster lair, opening
an easier walkway back to the Seabed Sanctuary. However, continue on to the
left, taking out the hermit crabs to open another easy route for return to
the Sanctuary, followed by taking the lower route along the bottom of the
area, running into a Seahorse monster lair [a dolphin]. Keep moving along
to take on the jellyfish to open a shortcut, followed by tackling the manta
rays to release a Fairy GEM, which has 250 Experience Points for the Soul
Blazer. With all of the monster lairs liberated along the Seabed, head
upwards to find the stairs leading to Durean!

                             ~~~~ Durean ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~

All about this area will be raining magma bombs, so avoid the pillars of
fire where they flair up, though the Soul of Shield will keep you safe from
direct hits. Anyway, head left to claim the gorilla's monster lair
[the dolphin, Lue] before continuing forward, facing another gorilla monster
lair (just keep moving, avoiding the gorilla attacks from the side). Keep
moving upwards, tackling some tornado birds for their monster lair
[a mermaid], allowing the Soul Blazer to then go upwards from that area to
face rock monsters along the way, claiming their monster lair [a mermaid]
once the last one is wiped out.

Continue to the right to take out a tornado bird monster lair, revealing two
new monster lairs, taking out the gorillas to create two new paths. Go
upwards to take out yet another gorillas monster lair [a mermaid], followed
by taking the downward route to locate a treasure chest that holds a Strange
Bottle. Continue along the main path to take out a bird monster lair,
followed by going up the ladder to go left past the metal gorillas (not
possible to kill at the moment) to go up and smack the rock foes to get
their monster lair [a dolphin]. Head right to take out gorillas, sprinting
across the lava to claim their monster lair [a mermaid], followed by
continuing to the right, locating rock foes to attack with magic from afar,
making the nearby monster lair available to create the stairs to the next
level of mountain.

Climb up to the next plateau, going down to face tornado birds that attack
from a higher elevation, continuing around to the front of the mountain to
slay some gorillas. Take the stairs upwards to step on the vacant bird
monster lair, taking the new stairs to the very peak, utilizing the
Mermaid's Tears on the lava above to force all of the lava to harden and no
longer burn the Soul Blazer. Go down two stairs and go up the left side of
the peak, taking out the gorillas for their monster lair [a mermaid's
statue], followed by moving to the right to go to the next lowest ring of
the hill, opening the treasure chest on the eastern face of the hill to
receive the Critical Sword! Now it is time to head back to the Seabed of
St. Elles.

to head left and downwards to find a dolphin, speaking to him to ride on his
nose, locating a treasure chest, which houses the Big Pearl! Ride back
across the gap on dolphin's nose, continuing downward once back to the main
pathway, heading through the side passage into the southern building once
again, locating a mermaid that will bestow the Magic Flair upon the Soul
Blazer! Finally, head for the center of the area, saving at the Master's
Shrine if so desired, and speak to the newest mermaid's statue, which will
open the next path forward in the area.

When ready, head out the bottom exit to the Seabead!

taking on the hermit crabs for their monster lair [an angelfish] as well as
dispatching the urchins while continuing to go left, facing manta rays to
reclaim another monster lair [a mermaid]. Head upwards to go along the fast
flowing current, dropping downwards to get at the jellyfish monster lair

rock outcropping, dropping down again, this time creaming some seahorses to
make a Fairy GEM appear (300 Experience Points is the reward). Keep moving
along the only path that is available, taking out hermit crabs to move the

followed by continuing to the right to face another gorillas onslaught,
revealing a bridge to the land in the north. next is a quick gorilla
slaughter to the right for their monster lair [an angelfish], followed
by going across the bridge created previously, going to the right to cream
the living rocks, taking their monster lair to remove the nearby rock walls.
Go up to take on the tornado birds for their monster lair [a mermaid] before
backtracking to the left to go and take out rock monsters, moving walls so
the tornado bird monster lair [a dolphin] is open to attack.

Go up to the next segment of the land, heading right to take the next
monster lair of tornado birds out, revealing a Fairy GEM that will tell of
the weakness of the lone remaining monster lair here (also, it is a great
way back to the Master at St. Elles). Equip the Thunder Ring and head left,
drawing the metal gorillas towards the nearby pyramids, shocking them with
the lightning the Master so generously provides, stepping on their monster
lair [a mermaid's statue] once they are vanquished, followed by using the
Fairy GEM to go back to the Seabed Sanctuary!

Once back, speak to the newest mermaid statue, who will open the way forward
to the next area. However, before setting out, be sure to go through the
bluish portal where Lue The Dolphin can be found, but instead of speaking
to him, equip the Dream Rod and speak to the sleeping dolphin to enter his
dreams. Once inside the dream, equip the Big Pearl and speak to him, moving
him so the Soul Blazer can step on the switch to drop the wall ahead. Now
that all is ready, make sure a Medical Herb is in your possession, followed
by heading out the bottom of the southern building, going onto the Seabed.

monster lair [an angelfish] as well as another urchin, so after that is gone

ATTACK POWER)! Return to the vegetated area once more, going up through the
winding passages, tackling another Stingray monster lair [a dolphin] before
continuing onwards, finding a final challenge in the jellyfish monster lair,
taking the lair to reveal the final warp tile to reach the Master, making it
an ideal place to go and save and/or fill up the Soul Blazer's Hit Points!

When ready to move onwards, head up to climb the rope attached to the ship
to enter the ghost ship!

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ A Ghost Ship ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Work through the ship ahead, dodging the fireballs from the torches as well
as the slugs that pop through the planking on the deck, reaching the bow of
the ship.  When the Skull enemy begins to attack, it will make use of two
hands that will hunt down the Soul Blazer relentlessly trying to touch him,
but they are easily beaten by well charged up Magic Flair attacks.  When the
skull itself dips down into range to spit fireballs, take this time to slice
it a few times before it retreats to the safety on the top of the screen (it
is best to use the Power Bracelet, as his massive amount of Hit Points makes
him harder to damage effectively with the Shield Bracelet on).  Alternate
between hitting the skull when it comes into range and using Magic Flair to
crush the skull hands, and the final foe will be defeated!
With the foes all deceased, go down and step onto the open monster lair
[the Queen] and grab the treasure chest  for the 1 GEM it contains, followed
by using the Master Warp Tile out in the seabed to get back to the Seabed
Sanctuary!
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~~~~ Seabed Sanctuary ~~~~
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Go and speak to the Queen, receiving the Blue Stone for your troubles,
followed by heading to the Master's Shrine, asking him to move the Soul
Blazer onwards, dashing off to The Mountain Of Souls!

                         o-----------------------o
The Mountain Of Souls
                         o-----------------------o

Head down to exit the shrine, going to the Soul Of Mountain House.

                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Soul Of Mountain House ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With nothing going on here just yet, go left and head up the stairs to enter
into a battlefield.
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                      ~~~~ Mountain, North Slope ~~~~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Slash up the burrowing moles when they surface, hitting their monster lair
[a girl] before climbing the stairs to move left, killing more burrowing
moles to make a new monster lair on the ledge above appear. Ignore it and
head to the right to fight some Yetis for their monster lair [Grandpa],
followed by going down the nearby ice slide to kill more Yetis, making a
treasure chest appear (40 GEMs are the reward inside). Climb back up the
ice slide and take the nearby stairs up to the next ledge, facing some bats
to make a new stairway appear, climbing upwards once more, this time
engaging each reindeer while moving left, taking their monster lair to form
a new ice slide.

Ignore the new slide and head to the left, fighting the bats that appeared
earlier (but now are within sword range) to get their monster lair
[a mushroom], moving back to the previous area to climb the stairs above the
ice slide, facing burrowing moles while en route to the stairway that leads
into a new battle zone.

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Aurora's Ridge ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start out with the burrowing moles here, taking the monster lair before
going right to find yetis that will charge into battle.  Once they are
eliminated, draw the snowball over to the left to bust it on the rocks,
claiming the vacant yeti monster lair to find the path to the next monster
lair, this one holding burrowing moles.  Before engaging these foes though,
draw the next snowball back to the left, busting it on a rock before
dispatching the snow rodents, taking their monster lair to find a bat
monster lair and a snowball.  Remove the snowball through the same methods,
followed by cranking the bats, going up enough to make the Yetis in the
next monster lair charge, but no so high as to allow the nearby bats to take
potshots.
Take the yeti monster lair to reveal two monster lairs, both holding
burrowing moles, so concentrate on one line of foes at a time, taking the
left monster lair [a snail] and the right monster lair [Grandpa] before
backtracking (be aware that the snowballs are back to get you, so eliminate
them on the rocks) to take the ice slide up to the next level, but be sure
to draw the snowball in the way down to the rocks below first.  Another
snowball will be up next, so go left to find rocks to break it on, followed
by ignoring the ice slide and instead cranking the bats, using their monster
lair to reveal four treasure chests (containing Magic Armor, nothing,
Medical Herb, and 50 GEMs from left to right) before climbing upwards to
face-off with another bat monster lair [a boy].  Now head right to pass
through a cave entrance to the next battlefield.
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ The Top Of Snow Mountain ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Take out the burrowing moles for their monster lair [a girl] to the left,
moving along the pathway to find two snowballs to draw into rocks. Paths of
ice are the next challenge, so slide along the pathway, going into the
top-right portion of the area, getting the Soul Blazer onto the nearby ledge
to face off with reindeer, yetis, and burrowing moles, claiming the yeti
monster lair [a boy] and then the burrowing moles monster lair, taking the
300 Experience Points the Fairy Gem spirit yields as well as accepting the
offer to return to the Soul of Mountain House.

                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Soul Of Mountain House ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go down from the entrance to speak to the blue-haired fellow near the pond,
receiving the Mushroom Shoes, which allow the Soul Blazer to walk on ice!
Now head back out into the battle zones, hiking past the snowballs to get
back to The Top Of Snow Mountain.
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ The Top Of Snow Mountain ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Equip the Mushroom Shoes, going through the ice to step onto the monster
lair in the middle of the section that was the reindeer's monster lair
[Grandma], followed by going back to the left and then downwards, locating
a new ledge to get onto, facing off with some bats for their monster lair
to create a shortcut. Now head upwards to find a stairway leading into the
next battle zone.

                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                            ~~~~ An Ice Hill ~~~~
                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go down the ice slope and move right, climbing the ice slope there to fight
some bouncing blobs for control of their monster lair [a mushroom], moving
downwards to find a lair with magicians, so take them out as they transport
around (attack on an angle to avoid their magical blasts) to take their
monster lair back from Deathtoll.  Now move upwards to tangle with two
bouncing blob monster lairs, the left monster lair [a snail] and the right
monster lair [a snail] both freeing trapped souls.
Go down the central ice hill after the tree explodes (avoid the ice
shrapnel), taking out the rotating bats for their monster lair [a girl],
followed by cranking the bouncing blobs at the very bottom.  Move back to
the top of the slides and go down the slide on the right, killing the ice
tree and running off, returning once it explodes to face rotating bats,
releasing magicians far below.  Ignore them and return up the ice slide,
going down the left side of the area (again past an exploding tree) to face
yet another monster lair of rotating bats, opening the path downwards to
enter into a donnybrook with a couple magicians for possession of their
monster lair [a snail].  Move on to the right through the small opening,
facing another round of magician attacks for their monster lair
[a mushroom], allowing the Soul Blazer to move down into the next
battle zone.
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                       ~~~~ Ice Field Of Laynole ~~~~
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Take out the magicians while triggering the exploding trees, taking the
monster lair [Grandpa] before moving off to the right (ignore the rotating
bat attacks until their lairs are off screen or easily accessible) to look
for a flashing bridge (it only appears briefly and rarely, so keep an eye
out), crossing the gap to find a treasure chest that holds a Lucky Blade!
Backtrack to the previous ledge, moving to the right and downward, finding
a magician monster lair to dispatch, following the ice path (use Mushroom
Shoes for better grip) to finish off a magician monster lair [Grandpa] in
addition to a rotating bat monster lair [a snail].

Exit the ice path and go to the left, romping through a rotating bat attack
to make a bridge to the next ledge, where yet another rotating bat attack
must be crushed for their monster lair [Grandpa], located in the middle of
the ice trees. Now move upwards to fight the bouncing blobs by their monster
lair, forming a portal to the Master's Shrine! Now head right back towards
the ice path, watching for a shimmering bridge to take downwards, facing off
with a Fire Magician (attack from behind to stay safe), taking the monster
lair [Grandpa] as the last action to take in this area, so take the Master's
portal, going back to the Soul Of Mountain House.

                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Soul Of Mountain House ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go to the right and go down, looking for a passage coated in ice, going
through it to end up in a new portion of an old battle zone.
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                       ~~~~ Ice Field Of Laynole ~~~~
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Back in Laynole now, move right and up the ice slope to dispatch the
bouncing blobs, going across the gap above on the semi invisible bridge,
facing off with fire magicians. With a newly formed land bridge, open the
nearby treasure chest to snag the Strange Bottle inside, followed by
watching for another bridge over on the right side of this area, crossing to
kill the rotating bats for their monster lair, which makes a treasure chest
appear, so take a peak inside to snag the Rotator Magic!

With all of the trouble out of the way now, go back to the bottom portion of
the area, going down the ice slope on the right to find the passage to
Lune Lake, yet another battlefield to engage the enemy upon.

                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~~~~ A Passage To Lune ~~~~
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go downwards to find a spike producing sentry statue to take out, just watch
for the sparkling ground as that indicates where the spikes are about to
shoot up out of the ground.  Follow the path to the right, going down to
take a stairway to the lower area, going right and up to tackle the fire
magicians for their monster lair [a boy].  Next up for the Soul Blazer is
to follow the path along, taking out the sentry statue before dealing with
the magicians to reveal a hidden monster lair [the snail, Nome], this one
holding fire magicians.  Head down and right to take out the bouncing
blobs, continuing on to the left to face rotating bats, which will make the
bouncing blob monster lair and the sentry statue on the island vulnerable,
taking them down to reveal a Fairy GEM (which will grant 400 Experience
Points!).
Head back along the path to find the stairs going downwards, tackling the
fire magicians and the last sentry statue, moving to the right to exit the
area, reaching Lake Lune, which so happens to be the next battlefield!
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Underground Lake, Lune ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head right to fight the fire magicians, following the pathway that their
defeat creates, running smack into bouncing blobs and their monster lair
[a mushroom]. Go back to the left to go up the pathway, killing the
rotating bats on the left for their monster lair [a snail], followed by
going up to kill more rotating bats to form some new pathways. Move to the
left to face the bouncing blobs and magicians, claiming the top monster lair
to form a new path, while the bottom monster lair forms another new path.
Head down to smack the fire magicians up, releasing a new monster lair
across a gap, but ignore them and go up as far as possible, killing the
rotating bats here to reveal a portal to the Master's Shrine!

Return to the crossroads from earlier, this time taking the passage
downwards, face the rotating bats that you released earlier, taking them
down to get their monster lair [Grandma], followed by going up to take the
right fork this time, which is populated by a fire magician monster lair.
Go down the new pathway to tangle with a slew of magicians, sealing their
monster lair to create a bouncing blob set, so backtrack to the fork, going
down one more time, killing the blobs to take the monster lair [Grandma].
Now that all remains is for the Soul Blazer is to return to the Master via
the portal, heading back into the Soul Of Mountain House.

                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Soul Of Mountain House ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head for the local prison and enter the open cell, using the Dream Rod on
the sleeping mushroom, entering his dream.  Step on the monster lair and
then speak to the mushroom if desired, but to exit the dream walk to the
left.  Head towards the portal to the Master's Shrine, but instead of
entering, go towards the torches directly below it and enter the seemingly
solid rock wall (just to the left of the torch that resides on the part of
the wall closest to the top of the screen) to go down and speak to the snail
inside this room to receive the Master's Emblem E!
Now head back to the Master's Shrine, taking the right portal to go
back to Lune Lake once more.
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Underground Lake, Lune ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wander back to the fork in the paths, going down until a sentry statue is on
a piece of land reachable by the Soul Blazer, defeating the foe before
walking onto the top-most tip of the land mass here (the spot where the
mushroom was in the dream), locating the Master's Emblem F! Now walk
straight upwards, passing through the ornate door ahead to find the monster
in charge of this area!

Poseidon will start off by firing a splitting fireball shot, so stay to the
side when he attacks, followed by getting right in front of him to hit him
(he can not hit you there when he starts to stab) by holding down the L or R
Button, letting him damage himself as he moves. His final, attack is to
fire off two fireballs that move back and forth across the screen
horizontally, so dodge them until they disappear, at which point he will
relocate to begin his attack pattern anew. Since his attacks are rather
easy to dodge for the most part, the Power Bracelet will help strip him of
his health quicker, so make use of it, though switch to a Medical Herb if
the Soul Blazer's Hit Points begin to dip. Keep making him impale himself
and he will soon go down in defeat!

With The King released, head back into the previous area, going through the
Master's portal to end up back at the Soul Of Mountain House!

                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Soul Of Mountain House ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Visit the recently released King, finding out Nome the snail may have what
is needed, so go out of the throne room and head for the prison, entering to
talk to Nome to receive the Silver Stone!  With this done, it is time to go
back to the Master, asking him to move the Soul Blazer onto the next
location!
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Talk to the door ahead to learn of the metal monster defeating Zantetsu
Sword, followed by passing through to go down the nearby stairs, entering
the first battle zone!

                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                      ~~~~ Basement Of Laboratory ~~~~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A whopping 19 monster lairs are awaiting the Soul Blazer, but for this trip
only two are required to be sealed.  Start out by running up the large pipe
to face off with some crawling worms, taking this monster lair to make a
pipe path appear to the right, so follow it to find some cleaning robots,
taking them out before they use their 8 way bubble discharge attack,
touching their monster lair [a great door] before backtracking to the
entrance of the area to go back to Leo's Laboratory.
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                         ~~~~ Leo's Laboratory ~~~~
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head right on through the new door, opening the treasure chest to receive
the Zantetsu Sword! With this sword now in hand, the Soul Blazer has the
option of continuing further into the Basement Of Laboratory section, but
with metal enemies that were skipped previously found earlier in the game,
it is best to go back and wipe them out now, as they possess great treasures
as well as valuable Experience Points. Head to the Master's Shrine and move
all the way back to Grass valley, heading into Leo's Paintings via the
portal on the right side of the Shrine.

                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                         ~~~~ Leo's Paintings ~~~~
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go ahead and kill the metal foes in this room, stepping on the monster lair
[ivy] before heading downwards to the next room.  Another set of patrolling
metal foes are spread all over the room, so kill them and then step on the
monster lair [ivy] in the top-left portion  of the room, followed by going
through the bottom exit to the next room.  Kill the one metal foe here to
open the monster lair, sealing it to reveal a treasure chest, opening this
will result in the Tornado magic falling into the possession of the Soul
Blazer!
With all of the monster lairs sealed in this area, head left and go down
through the next two screens to emerge back into Grass Valley.
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Grass Valley ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head down along the right side of the area, bypassing the building to climb
the ivy onto the apparently empty ridge, walking to the left side of the
ledge to find the Master's Emblem A! Next up is a hike to the northern wall
of town, looking for a cave where a small child guards a cave, so equip the
Pass and head on through, speaking to the Fairy GEM on the ledge near the
exit, receiving the Recovery Sword for your perseverance!

With all of the work done here, head back to the Master's Shrine, moving
on to GreenWood for the next sidetrip, so head through the left portal in
the Master's Shrine here, hiking upwards past the various foes to enter the
Fire Shrine!

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                           ~~~~ Fire Shrine ~~~~
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The very first floor holds metal scorpions (three of them), so hunt them
down and go seal the monster lair on the left side of the area, releasing a
Fairy GEM!  Speak to this creature to receive... 1 EXPERIENCE POINT!  I know
that sounds too good to be true, but to make it better, each time you speak
to the ethereal creature, another entire Experience Point will become yours
in addition to the other ones already collected!  yes, you can keep visiting
to get Experience Points (one at a time), but this is sad and not worth the
effort, so best to keep on going.
Moving on (go down the stairs in the center of the floor), locating a maze
like floor that is populated by the metal scorpions, so take them out to
open their monster lair (found in the top-right corner of the maze),
revealing a treasure chest which holds a Strange Bottle.  Head for the
stairs that lead downward (look in the central room of the maze), entering
the room with the heated bridges (equip the Ice Armor if you are too
impatient to wait for the bridges to cool down) to take on all the metal
scorpions while navigating through the area, finding the monster lair
[a bird]  past the stairs to the next floor.
With everything done here, go to the Woods Of GreenWood and enter the
Master's Shrine, moving on to St. Elles, specifically going to the
battle zone that is entitled "Durean".
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~

                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you recall, there were metal gorillas that were on the volcano, but with
no pyramids around for the Thunder Ring to call down the Master's wrath upon
them.  Head up the first stairs to the next ledge, moving to the left to
brawl with the metal gorillas, taking their monster lair [a mermaid] before
returning to the Seabed Sanctuary.
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Speak to the just released mermaid (she is in the open area of the southern
building) to receive the Red-Hot Stick, one third of the Red-Hot Items!
With all of this running around finally finished (for the Zantetsu Sword
anyway), head back to the Master's Shrine here, moving onto Dr. Leo's
Laboratory.

                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                         ~~~~ Leo's Laboratory ~~~~
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head through the first door and move to the left, going down the stairs to
enter back into the initial battle zone.
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                      ~~~~ Basement Of Laboratory ~~~~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head up the thick pipe and take the first passage to the left, killing the
cleaning robots to forge a new path, taking the downward pipe to face off
with jumping worms, creating a shortcut back to the start of the area. Go
back up and head to the left, creaming the cleaning robots at the bottom of
the pipe they inhabit, taking their monster lair [a plant] before moving
upwards to tangle with a set of bulldozers for their monster lair [a plant].
Return to the thick pipe that you started out on, moving upwards to fight
with more cleaning robots for their monster lair [a cat], followed by
killing the copters before heading down the pipe again, this time taking the
path on the right.

Worms and copters are next up for the Soul Blazer to contend with, so slash
them all to take their threat away, sidetracking to take out the bulldozers
for their monster lair [a cat] before cranking the copters, worms, and
bulldozers to form a long pipe path upwards to find racers. Racers fly
around the area at incredible speeds, so camp out and let them circle their
pathways, slashing them as they return to the starting area, taking the
vacated monster lair, releasing another racer monster lair in addition to
a set of cleaning robots. Take the cleaning robots monster lair [a cat] as
well as the racer monster lair [a great door] before moving upwards to face
yet another racer monster lair.

Go left from the sealed monster lair to find the defeated copter monster
lair (you destroyed them earlier but could not reach the monster lair),
followed by taking the pipe that formed after the last set of racers went
down in defeat, running into a set of racers (if they get by you, just wait
for their return near their monster lair), slicing them up with the Zantetsu
Sword to take their monster lair [a chest of drawers]. With that all the
monster lairs of this floor are gone, so head to the right and take the
stairs down to the next floor of the basement.

Go downwards to find a series of parallel pipes going downwards, so set
foot onto one of the two middle pipes (equip the Ice Armor to avoid damage
from heated portions), taking out the worms and copters, followed by moving
around to reach their respective monster lairs. Another worm monster lair
[a cat] is next, leading downwards to a stairway to go inside a pipe, which
makes everything look transparent. Crank the dozers [a mouse] at the
entrance, taking the left path to bait the racers into taking off, so follow
them and wait by the entrance to the pipe to cut them down as they return.

Head down the right pipe now and go left through the newly opened path,
moving upwards carefully as dozers will attack from the left along the way.
Head downwards to finish off the remaining dozers for their monster lair,
which releases a flurry of copter attacks, so send them to the scrap heap to
get their monster lair, releasing a Fairy GEM from captivity (she has 300
Experience Points to bestow upon the Soul Blazer!). Move on up to fight the
next set of copters for their monster lair [steps], which is closely
situated to some cleaning robots.

Move up to take out the dozers for their monster lair [a great door],
followed by creaming each racer as it streaks onto the platform occupied by
the Soul Blazer, crossing the heated floor that is nearby to make a bridge
to the next platform, creaming the cleaning robots found here to take both
the left monster lair [a model of town] and the right monster lair. This
just leaves one last copter monster lair, which will yield a portal to the
Master's Shrine, so take it to save at the Master, followed by returning to
Leo's Laboratory!

                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                         ~~~~ Leo's Laboratory ~~~~
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head upstairs to find a sleeping cat in the room by the desk, using the
Dream Rod to enter his dream.  After the dream (which recalls how Dr. Leo
was taken away), A Door Key will be the result of speaking to the cat.  Head
back downstairs and cut through the lab room with the cats, using the Door
Key to pass through the locked great door, finding the Soul Blazer in a room
with a set of talking drawers!  Speak to it to receive the Mystic Armor (a
very nice defensive upgrade), followed by using a crabwalk when facing up
or down, pushing the drawers to the left, stepping onto the spot to find the
Master's Emblem G!
With all of this running around finished up, head back upstairs to the
second floor, going to examine the town model to be brought inside of it to
find a battle zone!
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Model Of A Town ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Take out the rockinghorse knights through the trees, followed by going left
to take out the foot soldiers, leading into a running battle with the
archers so their monster lair [a mouse] can be taken. Head back down and to
the left, battling the foot soldiers as they charge at the Soul Blazer,
forming a bridge to go across the river to the north, taking the left path
to run into the rockinghorse knights, taking their monster lair
[a chest of drawers] while dodging the archer fire from the right.

Backtrack to the side path you took earlier, moving upwards to take the path
on the right, killing the foot soldiers to claim their monster lair to make
another foot soldier monster lair [a mouse] appear. Next up is the
contained area above the soul blazer, bashing in the faces of the archers,
taking their monster lair [a plant] before going down to the previous path
to go and kill the three archers in the area, forcing a nearby house to
reveal that is it really a monster lair [a mouse] in disguise.

Head up from this point to go into the large field, taking on the
rockinghorse knights, forming a new bridge after they are dispatched,
crossing the water to go down the first path to find foot soldiers and some
invisible foes to tackle, so use the Rotator Magic as it is perfect for
getting the invisible foes that are close to your location. After taking
out the foot soldiers, take their monster lair [a great door] before
backtracking to the entrance to this area, exiting the battlefield for now.

                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                         ~~~~ Leo's Laboratory ~~~~
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head down through the door to exit the room, heading to the right, and talk
to the great door that appears next (it will be open since you are close by,
but it will still speak) to get "The Soul that enables you to see invisible
enemies in model towns" on your side.  No seriously that is what the game
actually says... where as the real name for this Soul is the Soul of
Detection, but it does not roll off the tongue like "The Soul that enables
you to see invisible enemies in model towns".
Anyway, when ready head back into the model to continue the battle there.
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Model Of A Town ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hike back to the area with the invisible foes, looking for the archers on
the left side of the downward pathway, forming a bridge to the lower area.
Now go right and take out the spike tanks, backtracking to go downwards to
find a small ledge with another spike tank and rockinghorse knights. Now go
up once again to go right, running past the catapults shots to cross the
river, turning upwards to find a bridge to take to crank the catapults,
turning two houses into treasure chests (containing from left to right:
Medical Herb and 80 GEMs).

Next for the Soul Blazer is a battle with some loose archers, stepping onto
their monster lair to reveal two more monster lairs, the top monster lair
[a mouse] and the bottom monster lair [steps] both being guarded by a single
catapult apiece. Run straight up the pathway to find foot soldiers, sealing
the monster lair they inhabit to find a Fairy GEM (this one will give the
Soul Blazer 300 Experience Points), followed by going down to the area near
the start, facing off with the spike tanks while en route to the monster
lair the rockinghorse knights you defeated when you arrived. This just
leaves foot soldiers to dispatch, followed by wiping out the remaining
archers, taking their monster lair [a model of town] before exiting the
are to go back to Leo's Laboratory.

                         ~~~~ Leo's Laboratory ~~~~
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Enter the next town model that was released in the previous battle zone to
continue onwards!

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Model Of A Town ~~~~ (Second One)
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Walk up and crank the rockinghorse knights on the ledge when they lunge at
the Soul Blazer, moving to the left afterwards to take the downward passage
to fight a spike tank and some foot soldiers, taking their monster lair
[a mouse] to finish off this portion of the town.  Backtrack to the path and
go upwards, crossing the river to go into the "grass cross" area, taking out
the invisible catapults to drop the barriers nearby, releasing some archers
that need to be dispatched for their monster lair [a chest of drawers].
Head left and downwards, passing through the small opening in the hedge,
turning up to go and find some rockinghorse knights to engage in battle
with, tackling them to get their monster lair, revealing a foot soldiers
monster lair [a plant].
Head back down to the path, going up and then right, crossing the river to
walk along the path, searching for an opening to go down along the grass,
taking out the archers from the monster lair, revealing two treasure chests,
the top one holding a Strange Bottle while the bottom one holds a Medical
Herb.  Move to the left to face some spike tanks and archers, claiming
another monster lair to create a shortcut back to the entrance.  Head all
the way back up to the path along the top of the town, moving to the right
across the river, going up into a maze area to slice the charging foot
soldiers, looking to take the monster lair [a cat] in the top-left portion
of said maze.
Head south from the maze, going right across a river to find a large
farmer's field on the right, so go onto it and slice up the catapults that
dot the landscape, taking the monster lair [steps] before taking off to the
left.  The final obstacle in this battle zone are spike tanks, as the
rockinghorse foes who populate the monster lair are already defeated
(provided the Soul Blazer slashed them to pieces upon entering the area as
suggested), so take the monster lair to create a stairway leading to a lower
path, going down from there to exit the battle zone!
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                         ~~~~ Leo's Laboratory ~~~~
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Go up into the office above the models, speaking to the rocking plant in the
corner, receiving Actinidia Leaves for your efforts. Head down to the first
floor and equip the Actinidia Leaves, using them to lead the two cats out of
the lab, followed by speaking to the mouse in the corner of the room to gain
access to his home, where he will bestow the Spark Bomb Magic upon the Soul
Blazer!

Now head through the exit on the right side of the room for a Medical Herb
(if needed), followed by going back to the main lab to head towards the
Master's Shrine (saving/refilling if necessary), taking the stairs on the
left to enter into the final battle zone of the area.

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                           ~~~~ Power Plant ~~~~
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start out in this dangerous area by walking through the pathways to find
some worms to defeat while dodging the spiked balls (they rotate around the
pipes in certain spots, so bypass them as they pass around the back of the
pipe), taking the newly formed pipe path to a treasure chests, which holds
the Light Armor (equipping it is a solid idea)!  Move off to the right,
going upwards after defeating the dozers and copters that come flying across
the gaps, entering the pipe paths to wreck the remaining dozers, taking both
monster lairs to reveal new pipe paths.  Cleaning robots are the next
challenge, so defeat them to open the next set of paths, followed by
equipping the Ice Armor once more, as the heated pathways are back to drain
the Soul Blazer.
Kill the dozers while navigating the narrow pipes, taking their monster lair
to reveal a copter monster lair, so trash them to reveal a worm monster lair
[a doll].  Now troop to the left of this small battle area, taking out the
copters as they cross the large gap before bypassing the spiked ball sets to
hit the monster lair, releasing a Fairy GEM, so hike back past the spiked
balls to get the Soul Blazer 300 Experience Points!  Once more the spiked
balls must be bypassed, going left to find the last monster lair, which is
composed of copters.  After they are defeated, go and use the portal to the
Master's Shrine, filling up and saving, followed by returning to the Power
Plant, running off to the left, then up, and finally moving right across the
pipe pathways to find a stairway leading down into the fight with the head
monster of this area!
The Tin Doll has a myriad of attacks to use, starting out by launching a
flurry of missiles into the air, followed up by shooting fireballs downwards
but will immediately begin to chase the Soul Blazer, and finally it will
charge around the screen briefly (shooting more fireballs off during this
time) before heading into a nearby teleporter before reappearing to perform
the same tricks once again.  Track the Tin Doll while it sets up to shoot the
missiles, taking this time to slice it, only running off once the missiles
begin to fall and the fireballs begin to home in on the Soul Blazer.  Avoid
direct contact with the Tin Doll, making use of the Power Bracelet to deal
out damage (the Soul Blazer will take damage regardless of how well he
dodges, so aim to end the fight quickly via massive damage dealt), switching
to a Medical Herb when the Hit Points begin to run low.  Keep the attack up
when possible, and the hardest boss to date will go down in defeat!
After the fight is over, claim the remaining monster lair [the doll, Marie],
followed by heading back to Leo's Laboratory via the portal to the Master's
Shrine on the previous floor of the Power Plant!
Head up to the second floor, followed by moving up into the attic via the
stairs in the office, locating the doll, Marie, talking to her to get the
Purple Stone!  With that out of the way, head back to the Master's Shrine,
requesting he move the Soul Blazer onto the next location!
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Go up from the entrance to take out a skeleton, claiming the monster lair to
make a treasure chest appear on the lower area, but for now backtrack to the
entrance to go downwards. Walk along the hallway to go past the first
branch to take the next left, going down past a serpent to take the 80 GEMs
from the treasure chest, followed by going up to some stairs, taking them to
find some scattered skeletons, beating them for control of the nearby
monster lair [a soldier]. Go right form here, looking for a monster lair in
the top-right of the area, killing the one skeleton to make a treasure chest
appear, so open it to find the Spirit Sword!

Walk over the skeleton by the fireball spitting statue to find the Harp
String, followed by heading down from this locale, going around the walkway
(instead of the stairs to the lower area), taking out the specters for their
monster lair. Take out the charging serpents and head upwards to follow the
lower path to find a skeleton monster lair, going through the opened path to
turn upwards once again. This time though, go right to find a specter
monster lair [a soldier], cleaning out the last monster lair of the floor,
so go to the bottom-right portion of the area to find stairs leading deeper
into the castle.

                       ~~~~ Basement Of The Castle ~~~~
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Walk up the right side of the area here, taking out the orbs with magic or
properly placed sword strokes, grabbing the monster lair to reveal some
skeletons to de-animate, finding their exposed monster lair [a solider] a
bit back towards the entrance. Return to the previous spot in the room to
fight a second set of re-animated skeletons, revealing an orb monster lair
[a soldier] to dice and claim. Keep moving downwards to find a specter
monster lair [a singer] between two fireball statues, followed by moving
back to the top of this hallway once again, finally moving off to the left
to face serpents and a specter set for their monster lair [a soldier].

Head down from this point to find a skeleton monster lair which releases
two specter monster lairs, the left monster lair [a soldier] and the right
monster lair [a soldier] both containing ripped life forms. Finally, walk
down to go up and through the narrow hallway, walking straight up into a
larger room to find an invisible treasure chest that holds 100 GEMs. With
this finished, walk through the wall at the back of the room, finding an orb
monster lair in the dark, so take it out and claim it to find a Fairy GEM,
so speak to it to return to the Castle Of King Magridd.

Head left from the two guard location, looking for a sleeping guard on the
west side of town, using the Dream Rod to see a past occurrence, followed by
the now awake soldier bestowing the Elemental Mail upon the Soul Blazer!
Return now to the Basement Of the Castle, taking the stairs there to the
next floor.

                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go up past the fire blowing statue to find some specters to defeat by some
wall spears, taking the monster lair [a maid] before continuing upwards to
find some spikes on the ground in an empty room (keep it in mind, as
returning later will yield a cool Item!).  Move off to the right to
slaughter a single skeleton, the monster lair revealing a massive set of
spikes (this is why the Elemental Mail is so important) and a specter
monster lair, the claiming of which will cause a portal to the Master's
Shrine to be uncovered in the lower-left portion of the room.
Continue to the right and follow the hallway, killing the skeletons that
populate the next spike-filled rooms, revealing a new specter monster lair
[a soldier].  Continue along the main hallway on a downward trajectory,
tackling the dual orb monster lair, which releases some specters from a
hidden monster lair [a singer], followed by tromping onwards along the
single hallway to arrive at an orb monster lair.  Take them down to lower
the wall ahead, slaughtering the serpents while en route to a spears in the
wall and orb monster lair [a soldier] combo.  Finally, head upwards to fight
two orb monster lairs, with the right monster lair [a soldier] releasing a
soul while the left monster lair opens the path back to the Master's Shrine
portal.  Pass through it to get back to King Magridd's Castle.
equipping the Harp String before speaking to the musician on stage.  When
he begins to perform, the guard on the right side of the room will leave his
spot to get closer to the stage, so go step where he was, locating the VIP
Card that he was standing on!
Equip the Platinum Card and go up the west side of town, finding a small
monster lair of horseheads.  Move upwards to tangle with more swordsmen,
heading to the right after opening the pathway to fight the boomerangers
here for their monster lair [a soldier], followed by backtracking to the
Look in the top right area of the first small room, locating a treasure
chest that holds a Medical Herb, followed by going up past the serpents to
go right, spotting a treasure chest along the way, which contains a Strange
this time heading left to slaughter some more boomerangers, followed by some
horseheads, and then some swordsmen, opening the path to a monster lair of
horseheads, opening the shortcut back to the entrance.  With all of this
done, head up the nearby stairs to the second floor.
Head right to kill the swordsmen, followed by going down to find the hidden
entrance to the contained boomeranger enemies and their monster lair
[Queen].  Next up for the Soul Blazer is to take out more boomerangers,
allowing for a hidden entrance to the mud doll monster lair [a maid] to be
accessed.  With everything all finished up here, take the stairs up to the
threats neutralized grab the top monster lair to clear away the cat walk, so
the left monster lair [Dr. Leo] and the right monster lair to make a Fairy
GEM appear.  Before speaking to the Fairy though, go up and slaughter the
boomerangers for the left monster lair [a solider] and the right monster
and 80 GEMs (not a typo), followed by moving onwards along the path to watch
out for a faux wall to go through, fighting a solo mud doll for his monster
lair [a soldier] before taking the stairs to the next floor.
Take out the mud dolls to reveal flame breathing statues and some
boomerangers, claiming their monster lair [a soldier] before moving to the
left to tackle the horseheads.  The two real treasure chests are the
top-left (100 GEMs) and the bottom-right (Medical Herb), while the other two
are the fake treasure chest foes.  Now head up the next set of stairs,
finding a Corridor to the Dock.
                      ~~~~ A Corridor To The Dock ~~~~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kill the fake treasure chest before engaging the spread out boomerangers in
battle, also being wary of the fake treasure chest in the bottom-left
portion of the maze pathways, claiming the boomeranger monster lair to
reveal the portal to the Master's Shrine, but first go to the left and speak
to THE Dr. Leo!
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ The Dock For An Airship ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Get onto the airship and speak to Dr. Leo, grabbing the Mobile Key from him
before it all hits the fan. After this startling occurrence, head back to
the Corridor.

                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                      ~~~~ A Corridor To The Dock ~~~~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go to the right and use the portal to go to the Master's Shrine, but head
through the bottom portal to go back into town.
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                      ~~~~ Castle Of King Magridd ~~~~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Go down and enter the house where the Queen was staying, sending the Soul
Blazer to inspect the spot where she stood previously, receiving the Super
Bracelet! Now head back tot he Master's Shrine, saving the game, followed
by heading back through the portal on the right side of the Shrine.

                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                      ~~~~ A Corridor To The Dock ~~~~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go to the left, passing through the opening to the next area.
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ The Dock For An Airship ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Equip the Mobile Key and go to the steering wheel of the airship, taking to
the skies, where the boss of the area will engage the Soul Blazer in battle!

                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ The Deck of An Airship ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Demon Falcon has very few attacks to call upon, with his main two
attacks being sending searing columns of fire at the Soul Blazer, followed
by charging on diagonal lines across the screen.  What makes him even
tougher to deal with is the vicious wind blowing across the deck, with the
only safe spots from the pushing force being directly behind the steering
wheel and the mast structure at the rear of the deck.  To defeat this foe,
great patience is required, as he is only vulnerable when he is around the
deck (magic is useless versus this foe), so wait for him to charge on his
diagonals across the screen, or go hunt him if he lands on the deck while
shooting his fire columns.  As for Items, either the Super Bracelet or the
Power Bracelet is recommended, as he has a LOT of Hit Points to remove,
though if he is damaging the Soul Blazer with the fire columns, it is
possible to equip the Shield Bracelet for those attacks, followed by
switching to the Power Bracelet for attacking him as he charges.  Fight
conservatively and he will quickly go down in defeat!
Go and claim the monster lair [King Magridd], followed by going back to the
Master's Shrine and heading out into Magridd Castle!
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                      ~~~~ Castle Of King Magridd ~~~~
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Go and speak to the King in his throne room, receiving the Black Stone for
your valiant efforts to free him and his kingdom from his own greed (and
stupidity)! With this final key in place, head back to the Master's Shrine,
choosing to move on to the next locale!

                             o---------------o
World Of Evil
                             o---------------o

Head out of the shrine to find the twisted world of DeathToll!

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ World Of Evil ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start out in this horrid place by going up the left side of the area,
cranking the demons, followed by going to the far right side of the area to
fight more demons (use magic in both cases to kill the enemy on the far side
of the pillars).  Head back to the passage that was ignored previously,
going up to fight the phasing flies (only vulnerable when the entire body is
visible), taking both monster lairs to remove the fire shooting statues that
are in the way.  Now claim the two treasure chests that were made available
by the two monster lairs taken earlier (the left one holds 200 GEMs, the
right one holds a Medical Herb), followed by going up through either side of
the passages ahead, arriving at a walled pathway that leads up to a phasing
fly monster lair and a demon monster lair, which will knock out two more
passage impeding statues.
The next challenge is the same as the last, with demons and phasing flies to
contend with, removing a fire breathing statue by taking the demon monster
lair, followed by taking the phasing fly monster lair to make a portal to
the Master's Shrine appear, but it is behind a wall.  Head back to the
entrance of the area, going to the Master's Shrine, taking the now open
portal on the left, re-appearing at the aforementioned portal.  Go downwards
to open the treasure chest that lies nearby, grabbing the Red-Hot Ball!
This is the third and final Red-Hot Item, so head back to the portal, asking
the Master to move the Soul Blazer onwards to the Mountain of Souls!
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     ~~~~ Soul Of Mountain House ~~~~
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head for the King's throne room on the left side of the cavern, speaking to
him to turn the three Red-Hot Items into the mighty magic known as the
Phoenix will come to the aid of the Soul Blazer! With this feat finally
done, head back to the Master's Shrine once more, moving back to the World
Of Evil!

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ World Of Evil ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Return to the last set of monster lairs cleared, followed by going through
the portal to the next area.  Kill off both sets of demons on the sides of
the first area here, watching out for the shooting flames that fly along the
fiery walls.  With the way forward in the center now open, kill the phasing
flies to open the way on the left side, followed by creaming the other
phasing flies monster lair to open a path on the right.  Now head up the
left side (outside the tumbling blocks) to find the portal, but ignore it
and continue to the right, bypassing the tumbling blocks to find a treasure
chest, grabbing the Soul Armor, immediately equipping it immediately!  Now
backtrack to the portal that was just passed by, going through it to find
the Dazzling Space.
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Dazzling Space ~~~~
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Avoid the tumbling blocks and go up the left side of the area, avoiding
more tumbling blocks to reach a segment where phasing flies attack, taking
the monster lair before going right to pass through the tumbling block set
here to move downwards past more tumbling blocks. Go past the fire
breathing statue that appears ahead to find a treasure chest, acquiring the
Soul Blade! With this mighty blade in hand, the Soul Blazer gains two very
important abilities; the power to use the Phoenix magic and the ability to
cut down the tumbling blocks for large amounts of Experience Points!

Backtrack to the previous area, destroying the tumbling blocks as you go (if
you lack the level necessary to swing the sword, use the L/R Button parry to
kill the tumbling blocks), moving upwards to fight some demons on the right
side of the area, taking the monster lair to reveal a portal to the Master's
Shrine, entering it to refill your life and save the game. Now it is time
to decide if you are ready to go after the final boss or not, and if you
want to grind a few levels to make things easier, read the next paragraph.
If you are ready now, skip the next paragraph and read the following
paragraph to advance the walkthrough.

To grind levels, the best spot to do it is to go back to the entrance of
Dazzling Space, stepping onto the portal to go back to the World Of Evil,
followed by backtracking to Dazzling Space once more. Now wait for the
tumbling blocks that are to both sides of the Soul Blazer to come close
enough for his sword to hit both of them while the Phoenix flies upwards to
hit the third tumbling block as it approaches. With this done, go through
the portal back to the World Of Evil once more, followed by returning and
repeating the process as many times as you feel necessary. Equip the Magic
Bell before beginning, as that will assure that there is no GEM loss. Note
that the levels cap out at Level 50, so this can be done for a long time to
make things a lot easier, though it is possible to defeat DeathToll at
Level 24.

To advance onwards in the game, head into the building near the portal to
the Master's Shrine, as that is where DeathToll resides!

                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        ~~~~ DeathToll's Shrine ~~~~
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Walk upwards to run into DeathToll, beginning a battle with him!
DeathToll will make use of transporting and homing fireballs to damage the
Soul Blazer, but he really only appears and disappears, barely moving from
the top area of the room.  So the best way to defeat him is too simply stand
still and keep slashing away with the Soul Blade, sending the Phoenix out in
continual streaks, quickly stripping DeathToll of his Hit Points!  Make use
of the Magic Bell to not worry about GEM loss.
DeathToll will not be defeated so easily however, as he will quickly change
form!
Now in his true and demonic form, DeathToll will make use of dual slashing
laser shots and blue fire pillars at first, so slash the blue pillars to
make DeathToll drop his guard, making sure to position the Soul Blazer just
off the center of the screen (line up just to left or right of the face of
DeathToll) to start hurling Phoenix blasts up at the beast, avoiding the
triple blast of fireballs that he sends downward by virtue of your
positioning.  Now repeat the fire pillar executions, followed by blasting
DeathToll in the face, making use of the Magic Bell to keep the GEMs in
stock (or avoid the fact you have ZERO), only switching to the Medical Herb
if the Hit Points of the Soul Blazer fall too far.
With DeathToll defeated, watch the ending, enjoying the fruits of your
labour!  Make sure to catch the final portion of the ending after all of the
credits rolls, relishing in some of the more thought provoking stuff on the
SNES (seriously)!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------Bosses-----------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
6) This section will examine the boss of each area, detailing how to take
   them down with ease.
                              o--------------o
Metal Mantis
                              o--------------o
Attacks.: Swings claws, downward triple fireball, diagonal single fireball
Strategy: Metal Mantis is the big bad man here, boasting three conveyor
          belts that lead up to his ledge where he patrols back and forth,
          seeking to attack with his fireballs from afar.  What the Soul
          Blazer needs to do is to hold down either the L Button or R Button
          while charging up the central conveyor belt.  After the beast
          walks into a few damaging blows from the held out sword, retreat
          down the conveyor belt and go to one side, dodging the fireballs
          he shoots while drawing him near to one side.  Now is the time to
          go after him in the same manner, playing this game of cat and
          mouse, whittling down his Hit Points.  He can typically kill you
          in about five or so hits (or even quicker if he lands a blow with
          his claws), so be sure to have the Medical Herb equipped to ensure
          that you have a second shot at him if he gets you.  Keep at him
          and he will soon go down in defeat, releasing the Village Chief!
                           o-------------------o
Elemental Statues
                           o-------------------o
================
Lightning Statue
================
Attacks.: Four way electrical attack, physical charges
Strategy: The Lightning Statue shoots bolts of electricity in four directions
          (moving in a clockwise direction as it rotates quickly to fire),
          followed by moving before beginning the attack pattern over.
          Attack from an angle to make sure the foe is defeated with no loss
          of life (barring direct physical contact).
============
Water Statue
============
Attacks.: Sprays water, pools water, physical charges
Strategy: The Water Statue attacks by firing a spot of water that will pool
          on the ground (damaging on the spit attack and if touched while on
          the ground) before moving to start attacking again and again.
          Although it is an odd strategy, the best way to handle the foe is to
          stand near it and keep slashing, taking a few hits while whittling
          down the superior health of the foe (do not worry, as the Shield
          Bracelet will keep the statue from ripping out a large chunk of
          health... just be sure it is equipped!).
===========
Fire Statue
===========
Attacks.: Shoots fire, fire pursues the Soul Blazer, physical charges
Strategy: Much like the Water Statue, the Fire Statue will keep moving and
          firing, but the fire of this foe has an extra mean surprise of
          being able to trail the Soul Blazer, so be ready to run away from
          such an attack.  To tackle this foe, equip the same strategy as the
          Water Statue, but be ready to switch to the Medical Herb if the
          health of the Soul Blazer dips under 20% of his total health (after
          the Medical Herb kicks in, switch back to the Shield Bracelet).
                              o-------------o
Ghost Skull
                              o-------------o
Attacks.: Torch fireballs, slug bursts, skull hands chase Soul Blazer,
          fireballs, physical charges
Strategy: Work through the ship ahead, dodging the fireballs from the
          torches as well as the slugs that pop through the planking on the
          deck, reaching the bow of the ship.  When the Skull enemy begins
          to attack, it will make use of two hands that will hunt down the
          Soul Blazer relentlessly trying to touch him, but they are easily
          beaten by well charged up Magic Flair attacks.  When the skull
          itself dips down into range to spit fireballs, take this time to
          slice it a few times before it retreats to the safety on the top
          of the screen (it is best to use the Power Bracelet, as his
          massive amount of Hit Points makes him harder to damage
          effectively with the Shield Bracelet on).  Alternate between
          hitting the skull when it comes into range and using Magic Flair
          to crush the skull hands, and the final foe will be defeated!
                                o----------o
Poseidon
                                o----------o
Attacks.: shoots a three-way fireball straight down, stabs, dual horizontal
          fireball
Strategy: Poseidon will start off by firing a splitting fireball shot, so
          stay to the side when he attacks, followed by getting right in
          front of him to hit him (he can not hit you there when he starts
          to stab) by holding down the L or R Button, letting him damage
          himself as he moves.  His final, attack is to fire off two
          fireballs that move back and forth across the screen horizontally,
          so dodge them until they disappear, at which point he will
          relocate to begin his attack pattern anew.  Since his attacks are
          rather easy to dodge for the most part, the Power Bracelet will
          help strip him of his health quicker, so make use of it, though
          switch to a Medical Herb if the Soul Blazer's Hit Points begin to
          dip.  Keep making him impale himself and he will soon go down in
          defeat!
                                o----------o
Tin Doll
                                o----------o
Attacks.: multiple missile shots, homing fireballs, physical charges,
          charging fireballs, telportation
Strategy: The Tin Doll has a myriad of attacks to use, starting out by
          launching a flurry of missiles into the air, followed up by
          shooting fireballs downwards but will immediately begin to chase
          the Soul Blazer, and finally it will charge around the screen
          briefly (shooting more fireballs off during this time) before
          heading into a nearby teleporter before reappearing to perform the
          same tricks once again.  Track the Tin Doll while it sets up to
          shoot the missiles, taking this time to slice it, only running off
          once the missiles begin to fall and the fireballs begin to home in
          on the Soul Blazer.  Avoid direct contact with the Tin Doll,
          making use of the Power Bracelet to deal out damage (the Soul
          Blazer will take damage regardless of how well he dodges, so aim
          to end the fight quickly via massive damage dealt), switching to a
          Medical Herb when the Hit Points begin to run low.  Keep the
          attack up when possible, and the hardest boss to date will go down
          in defeat!
                             o--------------o
Demon Falcon
                             o--------------o
Attacks.: fire columns, physical charges
Strategy: The Demon Falcon has very few attacks to call upon, with his main
two attacks being sending searing columns of fire at the Soul Blazer,
followed by charging on diagonal lines across the screen.  What makes him
even tougher to deal with is the vicious wind blowing across the deck, with
the only safe spots from the pushing force being directly behind the
steering wheel and the mast structure at the rear of the deck.  To defeat
this foe, great patience is required, as he is only vulnerable when he is
around the deck (magic is useless versus this foe), so wait for him to
charge on his diagonals across the screen, or go hunt him if he lands on the
deck while shooting his fire columns.  As for Items, either the Super
Bracelet or the Power Bracelet is recommended, as he has a LOT of Hit Points
to remove, though if he is damaging the Soul Blazer with the fire columns,
it is possible to equip the Shield Bracelet for those attacks, followed by
switching to the Power Bracelet for attacking him as he charges.  Fight
conservatively and he will quickly go down in defeat!
                              o-----------o
DeathToll
                              o-----------o
====================
Magician Incarnation
====================
Attacks.: Transporting, homing fireballs
Strategy: DeathToll will make use of transporting and homing fireballs to
          damage the Soul Blazer, but he really only appears and disappears,
          barely moving from the top area of the room.  So the best way to
          defeat him is too simply stand still and keep slashing away with
          the Soul Blade, sending the Phoenix out in continual streaks,
          quickly stripping DeathToll of his Hit Points!  Make use of the
          Magic Bell to not worry about GEM loss.
=====================
True Form Incarnation
=====================
Attacks.: blue pillars of fire, dual laser slashes, triple fireball blasts
Strategy: Now in his true and demonic form, DeathToll will make use of dual
          slashing laser shots and blue fire pillars at first, so slash the
          blue pillars to make DeathToll drop his guard, making sure to
          position the Soul Blazer just off the center of the screen (line
          up just to left or right of the face of DeathToll) to start
          hurling Phoenix blasts up at the beast, avoiding the triple blast
          of fireballs that he sends downward by virtue of your positioning.
          Now repeat the fire pillar executions, followed by blasting
          DeathToll in the face, making use of the Magic Bell to keep the
          GEMs in stock (or avoid the fact you have ZERO), only switching to
          the Medical Herb if the Hit Points of the Soul Blazer fall too
          far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------The 8 Emblems--------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
7) This section will examine the 8 hidden Emblems, which can be found to
   trade for the Magic Bell, eliminating the need for GEMs to cast magic.
   Wow, what a great game!  What makes it even better that this is just the
   start of the pseudo series as both Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma
   followed, with both bringing new innovations and improving upon the
   formula!
