"This game still is the best of its kind."
When Nintendo announced the Super Mario Kart project, it was met with a lot of disbelief. No one had thought of taking 8 of Nintendo's most popular characters and putting them in a racing game. But the result was one of the very best games ever. And it still stands strong against the like of Crash Team Racing, Speed Punks, Diddy kong Racing and even the sequel Mario Kart 64. And now I'll try to explain why it does.
Graphics: OK, there's no use hiding it. This game looks quite old. The Mode-7 effects aren't as astonihing as they used to be. but who cares? This game's visuals are far better than most of todays racing games. Why, you ask? Simple because of the feeling. it really feels like it goes fast. Which you cannot say about Mario Kart 64 Gran Turismo and, of course, N-gen Racing.
Gameplay: This is where the game truly excels. The difficulty is well balanced, the circuits are well designed and the two player mode is the best in any game to date. What else could you wish for? Nothing.
Audio: The game’s audio is nothing special. Well, it’s functional at least. But who cares, anyway?
Lasting Appeal: Is it possible to get tired of this game? In my opinion no. The 20 circuits, the 2 player and battle modes and the excellent gameplay make for a game with an almost infinite lasting appeal.
Good things about this game:
+enormous lasting appeal
Bad things about this game:
-Looks kind of old
Overall Score(not an average): Of course this game will receive a perfect score. No doubt about it. It’s absolutely one of the best games ever to grace a console.
