Hi, and welcome to my Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze FAQ/Walkthrough!
The most recent version of this guide can be found at:
www.gamefaqs.com

I've been thinking about time attack, and I think I'm going to do things a
little bit differently this time. Because of the fact that you can see the
best uploaded runs straight from the game, I'm going to just list some general
time attack tips, as well as the times you will need to get shiny gold medals,
and leave it at that. If you guys really hate this format, let me know, and I
will think of something else.

My username was formerly gravy229; I have switched it to nuclearlemons to more
accurately reflect my modern self. Just wanted to make sure returning reader
didn't freak out about this one.

If you find this guide useful (and are on GameFAQs), the best thing you can do
for me, and for other readers, is to click the "Yes" button next to "Would you
recommend this guide?" at the top of the page. It takes no more than a couple
of seconds, and helps bring more people to this guide.

If you're interested in hosting this guide, shoot me an email. It's generally
a pretty painless process.

Those abbreviations are search tools. If you want to jump to a specific point
in the guide, just search, with your browser's search function, for series of
five characters in the square brackets. For example, if you wanted to search
for a section with abbreviation "[ABBRV]", you would simply search for
"[ABBRV]" with your browser's search function. Each island has a similar
breakdown, level by level. Alternatively, if you are looking for a specific
level, you may user your browser's search function to search for the level's
number (eg. 0-0) to skip right to that level.

My email address is guardianacorn@gmail.com. I have very few requests for
emails sent to me, be reasonable and follow them for me. First off, please
email me. I like writing guides, and I especially like writing good, helpful
guides. Feedback lets me know exactly how helpful I have been, and for what
reasons I have or haven't been helpful. Emails that tell me that I have done
poorly are not appreciated. Emails that tell me WHY I have done poorly are
much more helpful, and I widely accept these. In other words, criticism must
be constructive. Emails that tell me that I have done well are accepted.
Those kinds of emails keep this FAQ growing longer; they fuel my desire to help
you. However, emails that tell me WHY I have done well are more useful to me,
and I ask, again, that if you are going to criticize, even positively, please
do so in a constructive manner. Also, I am writing this guide as I play
through the game. If I don't specifically ask for a piece of information, it's
probably not a good idea to tell me about it. I don't want my inbox to be
flooded with information I was about to obtain by myself. As a general rule,
if it seems like I missed something important in my guide, send me something
about it. If it seems like I haven't gotten to it yet, hold off. Other than
that, comments, questions, constructive criticism.

Also, if an unauthorized site links to this guide, or you feel like this
work has been plagarized, please please PLEASE let me know. At the bottom of
the guide is the "Copyright Information" section, if you would like to know
more.

Here is the list of things I will currently be accepting in emails:
- Anything that I've missed in stages that I've covered, including hidden item
  caches and easter eggs.
- Anything specific about multiplayer that I missed (I most likely will not get
  the chance to play multiplayer).
- Any and all copyright and/or plagarism concerns.

Hi! My name is Tom Farello, and I will be your guide through Donkey Kong
Country: Tropical Freeze! I am a software developer, located in San Antonio,
TX, at the time of writing this guide. I currently work as a developer at
H-E-B, a grocery retailing company centered here in San Antonio. As weird as
it sounds to be doing software development for a grocery company, we actually
have a great IT department, and I am definitely growing as a developer and as a
leader in my position.

As far as other guides I have written, I am probably most notable for my guide
for Super Mario Galaxy in 2007, as well as the previous game in this series,
Donkey Kong Country Returns in 2010. Since everyone was clamoring for me to
write a similar guide for this game as well* I decided to do just that.
*not actually true.

I'm a relatively busy guy, so I do not timestamp future versions of my guides,
but I try to update as often as I can. Nothing motivates me more than emails
from my readers, so keep sending them! Other than that, I hope this guide is
very helpful to you in conquering Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze!

|___/|_|\_\--------------------------------------------------------------------

Version 1.1.4: 4/10/2014
Added some missing information about the Pompy boss fight, and shiny medal
times for stages 2, 3, 4, and A in Lost Mangroves. Added information about
water skipping and mine carts in time attack

Version 1.1.3: 4/9/2014
Added real enemy names to, and proofread, the rest of the walkthrough.

Version 1.1.2: 4/7/2014
Changed the walkthrough to include enemy names instead of generic
descriptions, up through the end of Bright Savanah. Proofread along the way.

Version 1.1.1: 4/5/2014
Fixed some inconsistencies and mistakes in some of the sections, including
the enemies, items, and walkthrough sections.

Version 1.1.0: 3/31/2014
Added underwater controls, and fixed incorrect controls from what I've
learned so far in hard mode. Filled in the enemies section (thanks to
  www.mariowiki.com for providing enemy names).

Version 1.0.0: 3/21/2014
Wrote the walkthrough for Secret Seclusion. Also added descriptions for each
  of the extra modes.

Version 0.6.0: 3/16/2014
Wrote the walkthrough for Donkey Kong Island. Also changed the ASCII for DK
Island to make it more legible. Added the real purpose of the mysterious
relics to the description in the Items section. Changed the walkthrough to
use the term "trigger vine" consistently.

Version 0.5.0: 3/9/2014
Wrote the walkthrough for Juicy Jungle. Also, in an effort to remove the
word "world" from this document (a word the game itself seems to avoid), I
have replaced each of the island's headers with ASCII depictions of the
  respective island's name.

Version 0.4.0: 3/3/2014
Wrote the walkthrough for Sea Breeze Cove.

Version 0.3.0: 2/25/2014
Wrote the walkthrough for Bright Savannah. Also cleaned up some ambiguous
wording, and cut down some of the more bloated sections of the walkthrough.
Changed the icon for a secret exit from an S to an X in order to make it more
  distinguishible from a five.

Version 0.2.0: 2/23/2014
Wrote the walkthrough for Autumn Heights.

Version 0.1.0: 2/21/2014
Wrote the walkthrough for world 1, and fixed all of the errors and incorrect
assumptions I made in the items section.

Version 0.0.1: 2/20/2014
Did all of the stuff necessary to get ready to start playing this game:
  - Changed all instances of "Returns" to "Tropical Freeze", including the
    ASCII art in the header
  - Updated control schemes based off of information I have gathered through
    gameplay videos
  - Updated the item information to match the new items and new functions of
existing items, as well as the new shop items
  - Detailed out as much as I could glean of the map for world 1

Controls shown below are for the Gamepad only. I will add more control styles
later.

Any Kong:

Walk: Tilt the control stick lightly left or right to walk slowly.
Run: Tilt the control stick all the way left or right, and your Kong will run.
Jump: To jump into the air, press A or B. The longer you hold it down, the
  further you will jump.
Bounce: You will be able to get extra height off of bouncy things like tires
and enemies by pressing A or B shortly before landing on the object.
Crouch: Tilt the control stick down to crouch and avoid spiked ceilings or
  enemy attacks.
Grab: Press and hold ZL or ZR while near an object, such as a barrel or a bomb,
to grab onto it, then let go of the button to toss it.
Pull: Press and hold ZL or ZR while near a hook or handle on the ground to pull
on it, revealing hidden paths or secret items.
Cling: Press and hold ZL or ZR, then jump onto a climbable surface or vine,
then use the control stick to move around on it. Jump off using the jump
button, and drop by letting go of the grab button.
Ground-Pound: Repeatedly press X or Y while not walking, running, or crouching,
and your Kong will pound the ground with his palms. You can even do this on
  climbable surfaces.
Roll: Press X or Y walking or running, and your Kong will roll or
cartwheel in the direction you are moving.
Roll-Jump: Jump while rolling, even in midair, and you will be able to perform
a longer jump. Do this to get items inside gaps in the ground, or to get
  across really long chasms.
Team up: In multiplayer, when the Kongs are close to each other, either player
can press ZL or ZR to team up. In single-player, partner Kongs will
automatically team up with no input necessary.
Team Roll (Teamed up only): Press X or Y continuously on player 1's controller
while walking or running and teamed up to continuously roll.
Water Skip (Teamed up only): Team roll into a body of water, and Donkey Kong
will quickly skip across the water's surface. This is useful because it's a
great way to travel quickly while avoiding any underwater hazards.
Separate (Multiplayer only): If player 2 wants to regain full control over
their partner Kong, s/he may press ZL or ZR to get off of Donkey's back.
Revive (Multiplayer only): If you have been defeated, but your partner has not,
press A, and a Kong barrel will drop into play from the top of the screen,
hanging from one of your stock on life balloons. Your partner will need to
come into contact with the barrel to free you from it. You may, however,
press X or Y to move the barrel closer to your partner. Keep in mind that if
you manage to find a DK barrel, you can get a revival without losing a life
  balloon.

Diddy Kong:

Jetpack: Hold A or B in midair, and Diddy will use his jetpack to gain extra
distance after a jump. This only lasts a short while, though. When
separated, player 2 will control this; when teamed up, player 1 gets control
  over this.
Peanut Popguns: Press X or Y continuously at any time while separated, or while
riding Donkey's back (player 2 only) to shoot peanuts at enemies. If
performed on the ground while separated, this is added to the normal
  ground-pound.
Balloon Kong Pow (Donkey must be present): While both Donkey and Diddy are
on-screen, and the team meter is full, all players must press L or R to turn
all enemies on the screen into red balloons.

Dixie Kong:

Ponytail Twirl: Hold A or B in midair, and Dixie will twirl her prehensile
ponytail like a helicopter to gain extra height and distance after a jump.
When separated, player 2 will control this; when teamed up, player 1 gets
  control over this.
Gumball Guns: Press X or Y continuously in the air while separated, or while
riding Donkey's back (player 2 only) to shoot gumballs at enemies.
Heart Kong Pow (Donkey must be present): While both Donkey and Dixie are
on-screen, and the team meter is full, all players must press L or R to turn
all enemies on the screen into golden hearts. These can be picked up even if
your hearts are currently full, effectively doubling your maximum health
  temporarily.

Cranky Kong:

Cane Pogo: Press A or B in midair, and Cranky will bounce off the ground using
his cane, Scrooge McDuck-style, allowing him to not only ignore any hazardous
terrain below (except bottomless pits), but also gain some extra jump height.
This can be used to cross potentially dangerous sections, or to find
otherwise-unreachable items. Be aware that enemies with helmets will take
normal damage when hit with the cane pogo, which may actually be detrimental.
Teeth Toss: Press X or Y continuously in the air while separated, or while
riding Donkey's back (player 2 only) to throw dentures at enemies.
Coin Kong Pow (Donkey must be present): While both Donkey and Cranky are
on-screen, and the team meter is full, all players must press L or R to turn
all enemies on the screen into banana coins.

Swimming:

Swim: Tilt the control stick in any direction to swim that way.
Corkscrew Attack: Press X or Y to perform a charging corkscrew attack in the
direction you are swimming. This can be used to defeat enemies, break
crates, activate switches, and open treasure chests.
Team Corkscrew (Teamed up only): Repeatedly press X or Y on player 1's
controller to continuously corkscrew. The direction of the attack can be
changed mid-corkscrew, but the amount of torque you can apply is greatly
  reduced.
Quick Swim: Press A or B as Donkey to get a quick boost forward while swimming.
Rocket Boost (Diddy only): Press A or B as Diddy, or while teamed up with Diddy
to get a large rocket boost forward. Be careful, though, not to rocket
yourself into an enemy or other hazard.
Ponytail propeller (Dixie only): Hold A or B as Dixie, or while teamed up with
Dixie to use her ponytail to propel yourself forward, increasing your
underwater speed. You can even use this to get through strong currents in
  order to reach secrets.
Cane Swipe (Cranky only): Press A or B as Cranky, or while teamed up with
Cranky in order to get a small boost forward, while striking ahead with
Cranky's cane. This attack can defeat mostly any underwater enemy, even
those that can't be defeated with the corkscrew attack.

While riding Rambi:

Mount: To get on Rambi, just jump on top.
Dismount: To get off of Rambi, press ZL or ZR.
Move: Walk, run, and jump normally with Rambi. Rambi is completely
invulnerable to everything except bottomless pits and fire. If Diddy or
Dixie is available, s/he can give Rambi a little bit of extra distance in the
air with his jetpack or her ponytail. Cranky can also use his cane pogo.
Charge: Hold left or right while continuously pressing X or Y, and Rambi will
charge very quickly in the direction you are moving.
Ground-pound: Rambi cannot crouch, so pressing X or Y continuously while not
moving left or right will cause Rambi to ground-pound. Note that Rambi can't
grab handles like the Kongs can; you will have to dismount in order to do
  that.

Other special control sets:

Barrel Cannon: While inside a barrel cannon, press A or B to fire in the
direction the barrel is pointing. Be sure to time it correctly!
Mine Cart: While on a mine cart or similar vehicle, you will be able to jump
and crouch as normal, but the ride is speed-controlled, and you therefore
will not be able to change the speed at which the vehicle moves.
Rocket Barrel: Jump inside a rocket barrel, then tap A or B several times in
succession to make it blast off. While riding the rocket barrel, hold A or B
to ascend, and let go to drop back down.

Pickups:

Banana: A delicious classic. Collect 100 of these to earn an extra life.
Additionally, each banana will fill up the team meter by 1%.
Banana Bunch: Each one of these potassium-packed goodies is worth 5 bananas.
Giant Banana Bunch: These things look like a certain copyrighted onion-based
appetizer, and are worth a whopping 20 bananas.
Red Balloon: Grab one of these balloons before it floats off the top of the
screen to get an extra life. While there are three colors of balloons in
this game, you will only find red ones in the stages. You will also get one
of these by bouncing off of 8 or more enemies in a row.
Banana Coin: These golden coins are used as a form of currency. Use them at
Funky's Fly 'N' Buy to buy useful items. You will also get one of these by
bouncing off of between 3 and 7 enemies in a row.
Heart: This will restore one heart to the Kong that picks it up, or to a
vehicle if riding one. If you have full health, this won't do you any good,
so if your partner is hurting, let him/her grab it!

Important Items:

Puzzle Piece: Each stage has either 5, 7, or 9 of these elusive items. Grab
them all, and you will unlock artwork in the extras menu once you complete
the level. If you grab one of these, then finish the stage and come back,
you will not be required to collect it again. If you leave the stage by any
other means, however, you won't get credit for collecting it!
KONG Letter: Most stages will have four of these; not surprisingly, a K, an O,
an N, and a G. They will always appear in order in the stage, so if you get
them out of order, you'll know that you've missed one. You will need to
collect all four of these in a single visit to a stage to get credit for
collecting them, and if you lose a life, you will lose all of the letters you
have collected since last passing a checkpoint. If you get them all, then
finish the stage, you will earn a star medal for that stage. Get all of the
star medals on any island to will unlock the extra stage for that island.
Mysterious Relic: "Combine seven mysterious relics to reveal the secrets
beyond." Each extra stage contains a mysterious relic. Collect all seven to
  unlock the secret bonus island.

Barrels and Other Stuff You'll Find:

Barrel: Grab one of these and toss it at a group of enemies, and it will barrel
  right through them.
Kong Barrel: When you break one of these open, a partner will pop out,
depending on the text shown on the barrel. Barrels with a blue DD will
contain Diddy, a pink DX indicates Dixie, and a yellow CK stands for Cranky.
After the first couple of stages, you will notice that some of these barrels
will flip back and forth between Kongs, allowing you to choose which partner
you would like to use for the next section. Ground-pounding near the barrel
or picking it up will prevent it from rotating. If a partner Kong is already
present, breaking open a barrel corresponding to a different Kong will cause
them to swap out; otherwise the current Kong will stay in play. Either way,
this will completely restore all health to both Kongs, so if one (or both) of
you is hurting, it's still beneficial to break one of these open.
Slot Barrel: On most stages, this will mark the end of the level. Jump into it
to break it, and get one of four prizes. You can get either a banana bunch,
a banana coin, a life balloon, or a DK icon. With good timing, you can pick
which of these prizes you get. If you get the DK icon (which should usually
be what you are aiming for), repeatedly press X or Y to get a whole lot of
one of the other three items, chosen at random. With quick fingers and good
luck, you could get as many as 15 extra lives!
Barrel Cannon: Floating barrels with arrows or skulls on them are barrel
cannons. Come into contact with one, and you will pop inside. Sometimes
these will move around, but either way, they will fire in the direction they
are pointing. The ones will skulls will break when fired, so you will only
be able to use them once.
Blast Barrel: Also called auto-fire barrels, these have a starburst painted on
them. They are very similar to barrel cannons, except you will automatically
be fired out of them, with no input required. Again, ones with skulls on
them will be destroyed after one use.
Mine Cart: Once you jump aboard one of these, it will start moving, so get
ready for a wild ride! You cannot control the speed of a mine cart, but you
can jump over and duck under obstacles.
Rocket Barrel: Jump into one of these rocket-powered barrels, then press the
jump button a few times in succession to blast off! Hold the jump button to
ascend, and release to descend, and avoid all of the obstacles along the way.
Rambi Crate: Crates with Rambi's logo on them hold the famous rhino captive.
Just ground-pound one to let him free! Rambi will be able to break anything
  with his logo on it.
Bouncy Platform: There are many bouncy objects around the islands, from tires
to mushroom platforms. These bouncy bad boys will give you some extra height
when you jump on them. Use them to hard-to-reach places.
Climbable Surface: You can grab onto one of these and move across it, whether
it's on a wall or ceiling, or even if it goes all the way around. Use these
to get over gaps or to climb up walls.
Vine: These work very similar to climbable surfaces, except that they swing
back and forth, and you can jump off of these in either direction.
Handles: Handles stuck partway into the ground can be grabbed onto and pulled
to reveal secret items and passageways.
Flowers: There is a wide variety of plant life around the island, and many of
it will react to a ground-pound. If you see a plant along a path, try
ground-pounding near it, and you might get an item! Things like treasure
  chests and urns react similarly.

Funky's Fly 'N' Buy:

Red Balloon: Each red balloon you buy gives you an extra life. These will run
  you 3 coins each.
Green Balloon: Equipping one of these will prevent you from falling down a
bottomless pit one time. If you fall down a pit, it will bring you upward,
and you can control it with the control stick, or D-pad, depeding on your
input style. It will break after a short time, so get yourself to a safe
place quickly after it activates. If you equip this and end up not needing
it, you will get to keep it. One of these will cost you 5 coins.
Blue Balloon: If you drown while you have one of these equipped will totally
refill your air bar one time. Like the green balloon, you will get to keep
this if you end up not using it. They are 7 coins apiece.
Squawks: Equip Squawks before entering a stage, and he will sit in the
bottom-left corner of the screen, and he will get antsy when there is a
puzzle piece, and will squawk and totally freak out at you when you're right
on top of one. The little guy will cost you 10 banana coins to use on one
  stage.
Crash Guard: Equipping this shield-shaped item before entering a stage will
give one extra hit to any vehicle you ride in for that stage. This extra hit
is a one-time, non-recoverable, use, but you do get to keep it if you don't
crash any vehicles in the stage. While situational, keep in mind that heart
boosts and banana juice do not work on vehicles. This item will cost you 10
  banana coins.
Heart Boost: Equip the heart boost before entering a stage, and your Kong will
be able to hold three hearts instead of two for the entire length of a stage.
This will only work for one stage, even if you don't get hit at all for the
entire length. This item costs 15 banana coins to use on one stage.
Banana Juice: Equip banana juice before entering a stage, and it will activate
after the first time you take damage, making you totally invulnerable to
anything except bottomless pits for about 15 seconds. If left unused at the
end of a stage, it will remain in your inventory. Each bottle of banana
juice will cost you 15 coins.
Kong Barrel: Equip any of the three Kong barrels before entering a stage, and
it will automatically activate whenever you lose your partner Kong (or
immediately if you didn't have one in the first place), spawning in the
corresponding partner Kong. It works like an ordinary Kong barrel, so if
Donkey has also taken damage, he will recover that, as well as any missing
heart boosts, as well. Like most of the other one-time-use items, you will
keep it doesn't activate on the stage. If you lose your partner Kong at the
end of a level, or wish to have a little extra insurance on a stage, you can
buy a barrel from Funky for 15 coins each.
Capsule Toy: Paying 5 coins will give you a spin at the ever-popular (in Japan)
capsule machine! Each time you buy a capsule, you will get a toy, and, if
it's new, it will be added to your extras gallery. It takes a lot of coins,
luck, and patience to collect them all!

|___/|_|\_\--------------------------------------------------------------------

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze has a huge variety of different enemies.
Each type is listed here.

Snowmads:

Tucks: These penguins wander back and forth aimlessly until hitting a wall.
A simple jump or roll will easily defeat them.
Speedy Tucks: This member of the tucks family wears red pants, and, upon seeing
an approaching Kong, will suddenly speed up into a run, making them slightly
less predictable. Any attack will take these guys out as well.
Tuff Tucks: These tucks wear a helmet to protect their heads. A roll will
still take them out in one shot, but jumping on them will cause them to fall
over. At this point, they can be picked up and thrown at other enemies or
  obstacles.
Pointy Tucks: These penguins wear viking helmets on their heads, totally
protecting them from overhead attacks (except cane bounces). Rolling will
  still work, however.
Trench Tucks: Trench tucks carry shields in front of them as well as wearing
viking helmets. The only way to attack them directly is from behind, but a
ground-pound will cause them to expose their front to attack as well.
Archy: This bow-weilding penguin will shoot fish at the Kongs from a distance.
Both the fish and the archy can be jumped on to be defeated. Red archies
will shoot flaming fish skeletons, which cannot be jumped on.
Boom Bird: These red tucks carry watermelon bombs. Many of them will walk
around with the bombs, and will drop them when defeated, and other will hang
out in the background, throwing an unlimited number of bombs at the Kongs,
which can then be used to throw at other things.
Painguin Tucks: This subtype of tucks carry a spear in front of them, which
repel any rolling attack from the front. They are still succeptible to
jumping attacks, as well as rolling attacks from behind.
Papa Painguin: This well-armed penguin wears a viking helmet and carries a
double-headed spear, protecting himself from attacks from all angles. To
defeat him, you can use a can cane pogo, throw something on him, or
ground-pound nearby to get him to drop the spear.
Soary: These flying penguins wear pilot outfits, and will fly in from the side
of the screen in a straight line, and only appear in a few stages. A jump
attack will take care of these guys.
Fluff: These rabbit-like snowmads bounce around in a back-and-forth motion in a
pre-defined area. Any attack will take them out.
Tuff Fluff: These helmet-wearing fluffs behave similarly to their bare-headed
cousins, except a jump attack will only knock them over. At that point, they
can be thrown at other enemies.
Harey: These large versions of fluffs take three hits to defeat.
Harold: These uncommon snowmads toss Watermelon Bombs at the Kongs, often from
above. They can be defeated by either returning their own bombs at them, or
by hitting them three times with a roll or jump attack.
Lemmington: The small, hamster-like snowmads inside spiky wheels are called
lemmingtons. They will roll in a single direction across any floor, wall, or
ceiling, without changing direction. Ground-pound near them to knock them
off of a wall or ceiling.
Hootz: These owls will hover in midair, either in one spot or in a set pattern.
Jump off of them to defeat them.
Hot Hootz: These hootz wear a red snowmad emblem across their waist, and will
periodically light on fire and shoot a fireball at a nearby Kong. They are
invulnerable while on fire, so jump off of them after they've cooled off.
Puffton: These large owls behave similarly to normal hootz, but can take three
  jump attack before being defeated.
Tuffton: Tufftons are large owls that wear helmets. This means that the Kongs
can bounce off them indefinitely. Cranky can still damage them with his
cane, though, and they can only withstand three cane bounces.
Blue Hootz: These small blue owls are constantly on fire, and can only be
  defeated with thrown items.
Waldough: Waldoughs are similar in behavior to plain, run-of-the-mill tucks,
except they take three jump or roll attacks to defeat. Due to their size,
they are largely unfazed by ground-pounds.
Walnut: These big baddies are identical to waldoughs, except they protect their
heads with helmets. Three roll attacks are enough to defeat them.
Walbrick: These advanced versions of waldoughs wear helmets, and carry large
shields around with them to protect their front sides. Jumping on their
heads will only stun them; they can only be damaged by rolling into them from
behind, and take three hits to defeat.
Chum Chucker Charlie: These big walruses hurl fish at the Kongs from a
distance. Like archies, their fish can be defeated with a jump or roll
attack, and, like most large enemies, they can be taken out with three
  jumping or rolling attacks.
Fish Poker Pops: This well-armed member of the waldough family wears a viking
helmet and carries a staff with a spiky pufferfish on either end, protecting
both his front and back from attack. Once it approaches a Kong, he will
lift the front end of the staff, opening him to attack. Roll into him during
this window of opportunity three times in order to take him down.
Big Sphen: These large penguins are armed with horns. When blown on, the horn
will fire a frozen fish that will slide indefinitely in one direction.
Defeating big Sphen himself will require three jump or roll attacks.

Other Enemies:

Thug Slug: These yellow slugs will climb all around any platform, including the
sides and bottom, to run into the Kongs. They can be defeated with any
  attack.
Dozy: This lazy pink bird will simply walk in a straight line. Jump or roll
  into one to defeat it.
Sour Dodo: Cousin to the dozy, sour dodos will break into a charge upon seeing
a Kong. Use the same strategy to defeat it.
Punchy Paddy: These grasshoppers will jump up and down, trying to get in your
way. A jump attack is the easiest way to deal with one of these.
Wild Wendell: This turtle-like enemy can use its shell to protect itself from a
jump attack, only becoming stunned when hit from above. At this point, it
can be thrown at other enemies.
Monocle Monica: This mosquito-like enemy wears a monocle over its left eye, and
will fly aroung in a set pattern. It will always look in the direction it is
going to move next, so time any jumps you need to make accordingly. A jump
attack can take it out, but it's usually just as easy to avoid it altogether.
Chomp: There are several types of chomps throughout Donkey Kong Country:
Tropical Freeze. The first is green, hangs from the ceiling, and will chomp
down on any Kong or enemy that passes under it. The top can be used as a
platform, and it cannot be destroyed. Next is the red variety. These will
jump up from the floor to chomp on Kongs. Jump on it while its mouth is
closed to damage it. Three hits will defeat it.
Mimic: These nasty enemies pretend to be plants until a Kong gets too close,
then attack! A jump or roll can take one out, and they only appear in the
  Busted Bayou stage.
Big Mimic: Unsurprisingly, these are just bigger versions of the mimics. They
are slightly faster than their smaller counterparts, but still only take one
  hit to defeat.
Cheesy Chester: These mouse-like enemies will attempt to attack the Kongs by
quickly running into them. Any attack can take one of these guys out.
Schnautzel: These fire-breathing pigs can attack from a distance by shooting
fireballs out of their noses. Once you get within striking distance, three
jump attacks will make short work of them.
Porcupal: Porcupals will walk around, indestructible and on fire. The fire
will eventually go out, opening them up to a frontal roll attack.
Buffaloafer: These big baddies will charge at any Kong they see. You can lure
these guys off of cliffs to deal with them immediately, or into a solid wall
to stun them. Once stunned, three jump attacks will finish them off.
Swooper Dooper: These masked, swooping birds will swoop down in a set path to
attack the Kongs. A jump is enough to defeat them.
Screaming Pillar: The screamin pillars make a return from Donkey Kong Country
Returns, except this time, they're on fire! When approached, they will
scream and fall forward from the background, squashing any Kong too slow to
avoid them. Once they fall, they can be ground-pounded to find hidden items.
Pufftup: Pufftups can be defeated by a corkscrew while deflated, but once they
notice a Kong, they will blow themselves up into a much bigger size. Only
Cranky's cane swipe can defeat them in this form.
Fritz: These annoying, small, green eels will shoot balls of electricity at the
Kongs before disappearing and reappearing somewhere else. A corkscrew is
enough to defeat them, but not while they're electrified.
Mama Saw: Mama saw has a large, saw-like snout which it uses to attack Kongs.
Corkscrew attack it from behind to take it out.
Jellyfish: These electric baddies are deadly and undefeatable. They typically
move in a predictable up-and-down motion.
Squiddicus: The terror of the deep, Squiddicus has migrated from Donkey Kong
Island to Sea Breeze Cove to terrorize the Kongs once again in the level,
Irate Eight. Make sure you avoid his spiked tentacles throughout the course
  of the level.
Bouncelisk: This fun, blue lizard carries around a bouncy fruit which the Kongs
can use to reach high items or ledges. A roll attack will defeat it.
Buzzy: These bees will fly slowly but steadily toward the Kongs, and can be
  taken out with a jump.
Bucky: These buck-toothed caterpillars leave behind a trail of acid which will
damage a Kong if he/she steps in it. A jump attack will take care of it, but
make sure not to land in the acid afterward.
Chompasaurus: A subspecies of chomp which can walk back and forth across the
ground or ceiling. They can be defeated with three jump attacks.
Toucan't: These attacking toucans roll around on poisonous fruit, which will
occasionally launch them into the air. A jump attack will do one in.
Electroid: This sparkly enemy makes a return from the previous installment.
These purple bundles of energy can pass electricity between each other, as
well as electrifying platforms and vines. They are undefeatable, and should
  simply be altogether avoided.
Finley: The most common underwater enemies, these fish slowly swim toward the
Kongs. The red variety moves a little bit faster, but not enough to pose a
major threat. A corkscrew is enough to take one out.
Gordo: These larger, purple fish will require three corkscrew attacks to
  defeat.
Snaggles: These sharks will jump out of the water to snap at the Kongs at set
intervals. They can only be defeated by thrown items, or by Cranky's cane.
Super Snaggles: This subspecies of snaggles is colored like a tiger shark, and
will chase any Kong who ventures into nearby waters. Like normal snaggles, a
cane swipe can take out a super snaggles.
Urchin: These purple pricklies reside underwater, and will damage any Kong that
touches them. A cane swipe is the only thing that can take them out.

| |) ) ( How to Use This Guide [HTUSE]
|___/|_|\_\--------------------------------------------------------------------

The walkthrough section is intended to be a very to-the-point guide, geared
toward collecting the various hidden items throughout the game. While there
are some specific tips about beating each individual stage, this guide is not
intended to hold your hand, telling you not to fall in this pit, or to jump
over that bed of spikes. Some level of platforming experience is assumed, so
if you are new to the genre, or even to the Donkey Kong Country series, I would
suggest reading the rest of this chapter, "Game Basics", and getting used to
the controls and feel of this game before really diving headfirst into this
guide. If you are a Donkey Kong Country series veteran, especially if you are
looking to do everything that this game has to offer, welcome aboard. Either
way, I suggest that you read the rest of this section, because it will show you
how the walkthrough is formatted.

Each island has a map associated with it. You will see the following icons on
each map:

--- Anything that looks like a straight line is a path from one level to
another. They can be vertical or horizontal, and plus signs indicate
corners; these still all mean the same thing. In general, a path will only
open if the lower-numbered level is completed.

(1) A number or letter in parentheses means that there is a level in that
location. Beat it to gain access to other surrounding levels. Numbered
stages are normal stages, and are accessed in order, normally. Stages
represented by any letter other than K are secret stages, and must be
accessed by finding a secret exit in another stage. Stages represented by
K are extra stages, and only become available when a star medal is earned
on all other stages on the island, including secret stages.

[S] An S in square brackets is a shop. Go there to buy helpful items, extra
    lives, or capsule toys.

{*} An asterisk in curly braces represents a boss fight.

Following along with the short-and-sweet theme I'm trying to pull, I have also
tried to make the guide as referential as possible; if someone just wants to
pull a quick hint from the guide on a certain item they are missing, I try to
make that very simple. The walkthrough is simply a bulleted list of important
or easy-to-find points throughout the levels. Each bullet is labeled by
certain categories that they fall into. These categories are detailed below.

(1) Each number contained within parentheses refers to one of the hidden puzzle
pieces throughout a level. Each one of these bullets will tell you about
any significant landmarks around the puzzle piece, as well as how to get
it, if it is hidden or out of the way. They are numbered by what order
they appear in, so that once a certain milestone has been reached, it
should be easy to tell how many puzzle pieces you should have at that
    point.

[K] A letter contained within square brackets represents one of the KONG
letters throughout a level. Not surprisingly, the only four letters you
will see are K, O, N, and G. Similarly to the puzzle pieces, nearby
landmarks, as well as information about how to collect the letter, will be
described in one of these section.

{X} An X in curly braces represents a secret exit to the level. In order to
unlock all of the levels, you will need to exit through the normal exit as
well as the secret exit, so it is up to you to determine if you want to use
the secret exit on your first trip through the level, or come back later.

<!> An exclamation point contained within angular brackets refers to something
that is important, but doesn't fit in any of the other categories. There
are two major varieties of things that will be marked as such. The first
is any major landmark that is not near a puzzle piece or KONG letter.
These will primarily consist of checkpoints, and places at which continuing
onward prevents you from going back through the level, usually referred to
as "points of no return". These are included specifically to allow you to
check to make sure you have all of the important items that you want so far
in the stage before continuing. The second variety is hidden items. If
there is an item that is particularly well-hidden, or is ambiguous on how
to collect, I will show how to get to it in one of these sections.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 9

<!> If you have not already done so, please read the "How To Use This Guide"
section above; since this is a fairly down-and-dirty, to-the-point kind of
guide, you are liable to end up pretty confused if you don't!

<!> Immediately after gaining control of your characters, head left into the
airplane wreckage to find a free life balloon to start your adventure.
Additionally, if you ground-pound in here, the TVs will turn on, showing
the title screen for Donkey Kong Country Returns for the various regions.

(1) Run a bit to your right, and you will slide down a waterslide. At the
bottom, you will fall into a pool of water, introducing the new swimming
sections in this game. If you swim to the left, you will see another part
of the broken airplane. Swim to it, and it will fall away revealing a
    hidden puzzle piece.

<!> Continue to the right, sticking near the bottom of the lake. There is a
banana coin hidden behind some grass near the tutorial pig, who will teach
you how to corkscrew attack underwater.

[K] Pop out of the lake to the right, and you will notice the K up ahead. Just
jump to it from the upper tree-like platform to grab it.

<!> You may notice a prompt here to ground-pound the cracked-looking platforms.
If you break the left-most one, you will get a banana coin, and the
right-most one hides a hidden cache of bananas.

(2) The green chomp just ahead is as dangerous as it looks, but can also be
pretty handy. Run underneath it, and it will bend down to chomp you,
allowing you to jump on top. Once it pops back up, jump on the platforms
to the left, and ground-pound the yellow bulb plant, and it will produce a
    puzzle piece.

<!> Continue to the right, and you will find a handle on the ground. Yank it
up to access a platform with another handle on it. Pull that one as well,
and you will be able to continue forward.

(3) Yanking the third handle here will cause a winged banana to appear. This
winged banana will spawn a couple of other bananas, which will follow it
as if flys around. Collect all of the bananas before they fly off-screen,
and the winged banana will turn into a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1. This is a good opportunity to make sure that you have 3
puzzle pieces, as well as the K on this stage.

(4) Yank on the handle here to continue forward, and the ground will fall down
underneath you, revealing a couple of bananas. Jump on top of the green
chomp, and let it carry you upward. Jump up to the left to reach another
platform with a puzzle piece on it.

(5) Fall down, and go back toward the chomp. If you ground-pound the floor
directly underneath the chomp, you will uncover a hidden area containing a
lot of bananas, as well as a puzzle piece.

<!> Throw the Diddy barrel up top here to free your little buddy, and continue
to the right. Don't let the falling sections of floor freak you out; as
long as you don't run too far away, you won't fall off.

<!> Once you get back in the water, there is a raft just to the left with a
bulb plant on it. Ground-pound it for a life balloon. This also
introduces the mechanic that you can ground-pound a raft to get a huge
    jump.

<!> You can use this new information on the raft just to the right. Collect
the entire ring of bananas here by ground-pounding the raft, and a giant
    banana bunch will appear.

[O] Roll-jump off the right edge of this raft to claim the O.

<!> Get back on the raft, then ground-pound to reach the platform on the right.
Continue all the way forward, and you will reach a handle on the ground.
Pull on it, and a giant tree will appear, giving you access to the game's
first barrel cannon segment. Hop into the first barrel to get started.

(6) The first shot doesn't need to be timed, but the second shot will have a
ring of spinning items, including a banana coin and a puzzle piece, to deal
with. You will need to time your shot to get the item that you want here.
If you miss the puzzle piece on this shot, you will have one more chance
during the next shot to grab it.

[N] After a few blast barrels, you will enter a barrel cannon that will switch
back and forth between three tracks. Fire the barrel while it is pointing
to the left to get the N.

<!> During the next shot, if you wait for just a moment, a life balloon will
float up to intersect the shot's path. Time it just right to grab it.

<!> After hitting the viking ship, you may notice a bulb flower on the left.
Ground-pound it for a banana coin.

<!> Checkpoint #2. This is another chance to check your items.

<!> Hop over the bed of spikes to the right to get your first look at the
game's main antagonists: the Snowmads. You will even get to see one get
chomped by the green chomp up ahead! Ride the enemy-platform up, then
ground-pound the box just to the right to get a banana coin.

(7) As a matter of fact, all of the boxes in this section are ground-poundable,
and there is one set that leads straight through the floor. If you go down
there, you will see a set of five professor Chops with a huge pile of
bananas. When you approach, the pigs will start throwing banana bunches at
you. Collect them all, and they will reward you with a puzzle piece.

<!> Ground-pound the right-most box in this section to reveal a hidden handle.
Pull on it for a banana coin.

[G] Continuing forward, you may notice the G in the background. You will need
to jump on the tuff tucks just to the right, then pick him up and throw him
at the target, which will cause the attached boom to swing around, bringing
    the G into collectible range.

(8) You can use the newly-created platform to jump up to the left, revealing a
barrel cannon, which leads to a bonus area. Grab all of the bananas while
traversing the moving platforms before the timer runs out to get a puzzle
    piece.

<!> When you reach a wooden platform, five giant banana bunches will appear,
and the game will prompt you to perform a Kong pow attack, which will turn
all of the enemies in the vicinity into life balloons.

<!> Ground-pound the DK plate ahead three times, and a barrel cannon will
appear. Jump into it and launch yourself to free up this level's slot
barrel, but don't hit it quite yet.

(9) Keep moving to the right, and cross a short bed of spikes to find a handle
hidden here. Pull on it to get this stage's final puzzle piece. Now
you're ready to exit this stage.

( 1-2 ) SHIPWRECK SHORE [SPWRK]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 9

(1) Head to the left to start off, and ground-pound the boxes here to uncover
a hidden handle. Pull it for an easy puzzle piece.

<!> The next handle to the right will give you a watermelon bomb when you pull
it. Throw it at an enemy to blow them up!

<!> You may notice a banana coin hovering overhead here. You can use the
climbable ceiling just to the right to climb over and grab it.

(2) Hop into the water with the next buoy with a bulb plant is, and swim
underneath the ship to find a sunken puzzle piece.

<!> Climb up on the ship to find a Dixie barrel. Break it open, and Diddy will
swap out with Dixie, giving you access to a new moveset. Experiment with
it a bit, the continue moving forward.

[K] You will likely see the K on a box overhead. To grab it, jump on the large
box all the way to the right, then use the ponytail twirl to get on top of
the right-most hanging box. From there, it should be a routine jump to get
    the K.

(3) Drop down from the hanging boxes to a suspicious section of floor directly
underneath the right hangning box. Ground-pound it to open a bonus area.
Grab all of the bananas on the bouncy platforms in here to get a puzzle
    piece.

[O] Make your way off the ship to the right. The O is between two hanging
platforms just ahead. It is easiest to grab it using a ponytail twirl.

<!> If you ponytail twirl off the right box into the wall just above the bulb
plant, a winged banana will pop out. Grab all of the bananas in the trail
to get a giant banana bunch.

<!> If you wish, you can swim back underneath the ship from the right to get a
    giant banana bunch.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

(4) Grab onto the climbable ceiling, and follow it up to the left, and jump off
into the wall to reveal a hidden area containing a puzzle piece.

(5) Continue climbing the walls and ceilings to the right. There is a bulb
flower on the ceiling above two turtles not too far ahead. Ground-pound it
and a bag will appear. Throw the tuff tucks at it, and it will relinquish
    a puzzle piece.

<!> On the next climbable ceiling, you can head left to reveal a hidden giant
    banana bunch.

<!> Just ahead is a required swimming section. Make sure you keep an eye on
your oxygen meter, since this is the first place where you won't be able to
come up for air any time you want. Diving helmets will occasionally offer
bubbles, which can be picked up for extra air.

(6) If you head down and to the left, and corkscrew through the wreckage, you
will come to a set of bananas swirling around in a spiral pattern. Collect
them all, and you will be rewarded with a puzzle piece.

[N] Continue to the right, and take the top path when there is a fork in the
path to pick up the N.

<!> Just above where the N is, there is a spot to come up for air, and grab
some bananas. If you pick them all up, six banana coins will also appear.

(7) Continue back down to the top path. Loop back around to the left along the
bottom path, and break the first box here with a corkscrew to get a puzzle
    piece.

<!> Continue right, then up to reach checkpoint #2.

(8) Drop into the first pool of water after the checkpoint, and do a corkscrew
next to the barrel under the buoy. Doing so will reveal a puzzle piece.

{X} In the next pool, there is path of bananas that leads downward. If you
have Dixie, you can use her ponytail propeller to swim against the current,
and finally into the blue portal. Smash the slot barrel in here to access
    a secret level.

(9) To continue the stage normally, simply continue swimming to the right.
Ground-pound the raft here, and it will start moving. There are four
columns of bananas just ahead. Pick up all of the bananas, and a puzzle
    piece will appear.

[G] Just ahead, use the monocle Monicas to jump up to the climbable ceiling
with the G. The ceiling will start sliding toward the propeller ahead,
which will rip both the ceiling and the raft to shreds, so be quick about
grabbing it Duck under the propeller to continue forward.

<!> Ground-pound the bulb plant on the far right for a giant banana bunch, then
bounce up to the slot barrel to end the level.

( 1-3 ) CANOPY CHAOS [CNPCS]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

(1) Climb across the first couple of vines until you come across a wild
Wendell. Jump on it, then throw it at the left wall, which is being
protected by a shield. This will open up a bonus area, where you will need
to jump between vines to pick up bananas. Grab them all to get a puzzle
    piece.

[K] Upon exiting the bonus, there is a water wheel which contains the K. It
seems to be easiest to grab when it is at the top of its trajectory, from
    the platform on the left.

<!> In the ditch ahead, there is a Cranky barrel. Be sure to grab it, since
there will be a bunch of stuff up ahead that you won't be able to get
    without Cranky.

(2) Bounce across the bed of spikes using the cane pogo, and through the wall
to the right to unveil a hidden area with a puzzle piece.

[O] Continue up the ravine, where the O is in plain sight in the middle.

<!> You can pull the handle to the right of the O to reveal a spiky platform
with a banana coin on it. You will need the cane pogo to grab it without
    hurting yourself.

(3) There is a similar handle at the very top of the ravine, to the left of the
barrel cannon. You will need the cane pogo to get up to it, as well as to
grab the puzzle piece that appears to the left.

<!> In the next barrel cannon section, you can get a lot of extra bananas by
staying in the background each time you fire.

<!> Checkpoint #1. You can grab the items on the spikes in this area using the
    cane pogo if you wish.

[N] The N is in the middle of the path here, in between some vines. You can
choose either to swing across the vines, or just pogo across the spikes on
the floor. Either way, the monocle Monicas here will always look in the
direction they are going to move next, so time your jumps so you don't get
    hit.

(4) Throw the wild Wendell here at the hanging bag to get a puzzle piece. The
puzzle piece will fall onto the bed of spikes, so you will need to either
grab it in midair, or use the cane pogo to get it.

<!> The propellers up ahead are bad news, so make sure you duck under them to
    not get hurt.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(5) Just ahead, there is an arrangement of four platforms, three at the top,
and one underneath with a bulb flower. Jump off of the top-right platform
through the wall on the right to uncover a hidden puzzle piece.

(6) The next ceiling, above the wild Wendell, also hides a secret. Jump to it
from the right to enter a bonus area. Grab all the bananas here to get a
    puzzle piece.

[G] Dodge the next set of propellers, and climb up the vine on the right to
    find the G.

(7) Use the barrel cannon at the end of this section to reach the slot barrel,
but don't use it. Instead, break the box here to reveal a bouncy platform.
Use it to jump up the platforms here and continue to the left to reach a
    puzzle piece hidden here.

<!> There's also an easter egg up here: if you ground-pound in front of the
gramophone (that's the old-timey music player) on the right, the title
theme from the original Donkey Kong Country will begin to play.

{X} If you continue up and to the right using the cane pogo, you will find a
    secret exit to this stage.

<!> Of course, you can always just use the normal exit if you want to continue
    along the normal path.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> This is a minecart stage, you if you tend to have trouble with those,
consider buying a crash guard from Funky.

(1) Very soon after the start is a Diddy barrel. Just to its left, there is a
bonus area hidden under the floor. Ground-pound to enter it. This one
will require you to time your barrel blasts to pick up all of the bananas
before time expires. Do so, and you will earn a puzzle piece.

<!> Use the barrel cannon up ahead to start your minecart adventure.

<!> Follow the trails of bananas and coins for the safest, most lucrative ride.
You can jump off the tip of the first airplane's wing to get an early life
    balloon in this section.

[K] The path splits up ahead. Follow the banana bunches down the lower path,
and jump at the last second to get the K.

(2) Perform full hops off of the pair of monocle Monicas just up ahead to grab
    a puzzle piece.

<!> Don't be fooled by the hanging boxes above; they won't fall on you. You
can jump off of the next box on the ground to get some extra bananas.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] Duck under the burning propeller blades, then pop back up in time to grab
    the O.

<!> There shouldn't be anything too confusing coming up for a while. When the
path splits, take the top path for some extra bananas.

[N] When you see the N, you won't need to perform a jump to grab it; just fall
    right onto it.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> Duck under the swinging airplane, then jump up to the top path for three
    banana coins.

(3) After the next set of propellers, fall off the edge of the track to get to
a lower section containing a puzzle piece.

[G] In the tilted section with the sliding boxes, jump off the second sliding
    box to get the G.

<!> After the falling cutscene, you can jump off the fin of a submarine that
pops out of the water for a banana coin.

(4) Don't jump off the end of the submarine; instead, prepare to duck. When
you fall off the sub, you will be put on a lower track with a couple of
propellers and a puzzle piece. If you duck, you won't hit the propellers.

(5) Once you reach the slot barrel, dive under the water, directly underneath
the airplane here, for an easy-to-overlook puzzle piece.

( 1-A ) ZIP-LINE SHRINE [ZIPLN]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> Welcome to the game's first secret level. To enter this level, you will
need to have found the secret exit in Shipwreck Shore.

<!> To start off here, head right, and pull on the handle on the ground. This
will cause a flock of winged bananas to fly out of the mouths of the
statues in the background. You will find these flying banans throughout
the stage, and all of them will reward you with a banana coin.

<!> Continue forward across the platforms, collecting the items and the Dixie
barrel along the way, if you wish. Once you're back on solid ground, the
    first winged banana will appear.

(1) You can grab onto this vine to use it like a zip-line. If you do so,
however, make sure you go back at the end, since there is a floor below
that you can ground-pound to reveal a hidden area with a puzzle piece.

[K] If you didn't grab the K at the end of the zip-line section, you can use
the bouncy platform here to grab it now.

(2) After the life balloon and the banana coin here, grab the handle underneath
the punchy Paddy, and a formation of bananas will appear. Collect them all
before they disappear, and a puzzle piece will appear to take their place.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] The O is in the vicinity, as well. Jump to it from the right to get it
    easily.

[N] At the end of the next zip-line section, jump off the zip-line at the very
end to grab the N. Do a full hop off the monocle Monica, as well, to reach
a platform with a bunch of pickups on it.

(3) Drop down, and head back to the beginning of this platform to find a
handle. Yank it to uncover a blast barrel leading to a bonus area. Bounce
up to grab all of the bananas in the time limit. Doing so will net you a
    puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> Traverse the next zip-line section to get to a barrel cannon section. The
second barrel will have a gap in the arc of bananas. If you wait just a
moment, a life balloon will come up to fill the gap. Time your next shot
so that you can grab the vine that is swinging around over here.

(4) After the vine, there is another barrel cannon that will move up and down.
Time the shot to get the puzzle piece in the center.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

<!> There is a bouncy platform here, and if you wait for a split second on it,
another one of the winged banana will come careening in from the right.

[G] In the next blast barrel, time the shot so that the next platform is all
the way to the left. You can then bounce off the hootz starting from the
one on the right to claim the G.

<!> The next zip-line section requires more focus than the last few. When the
banana coins appear, skip the center zip-line to drop all the way down to
    pick them up.

(5) You will land on a bouncy platform after this zip-line section. Drop down
to the left and pull on the handle to make a line of banana bunches appear.
Grab them all, and a puzzle piece will be waiting for you back on the
    bouncy platform.

<!> There are two more winged bananas in the next room; again, both will reward
you with banana coins. The slot barrel is at the top of this room.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 9

<!> The silhouette level makes a triumphant return here. To enter this level,
you will need to have found the secret exit in Canopy Chaos.

(1) Start off here by heading all the way to the left to make a puzzle piece
    appear.

<!> The Kong barrel just ahead will rotate between Kongs, allowing you to pick
which one will be your partner for the level. Dixie is a solid choice on
    this level.

<!> You can use the vine overhead here to get a banana coin on the right.

<!> Hanging on the short vines in this level will cause platforms and,
sometimes, items to appear for a short time. There is an example of such a
vine just ahead. Use it to get a banana coin.

(2) Roll through the side of the wall just ahead to enter a hidden area.
Ground-pound the bulb plant in here to get a puzzle piece.

[K] The KONG letters are little bit harder to see in these types of levels, but
the K is on the lower section of the second hanging platform. From the
hidden area, you can roll-jump right to this platform.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

(3) Right after the checkpoint, there is a handle. Pull on it to sprout a
beanstalk with leaf platforms. Climb the leaves, then swing on the vine
through the wall on the right to reveal a hidden area with a puzzle piece
    off the right-most edge.

<!> Just underneath that puzzle piece is a hidden area with a giant banana
bunch inside. Look for a box with a cut taken out of the left side of it.

<!> Just ahead is a life balloon that is hard to miss since it's bright red.
Jump up through the platform it's underneath to grab it. You can do the
same to the previous platform to get a much-harder-to-see heart.

[O] Hang onto the short vine here to draw down a set of platforms. Jump to the
    left to find the O.

(4) There is a cracked rock platform just ahead, which is hiding a handle.
Pull it to reveal a winged banana. Grab all the goodies, and it will
reward you with a puzzle piece.

<!> Pull on the next handle underground here, and a huge portion of the
background will fall away. If this happens to you before you get the
fourth puzzle piece, go back; you've missed it.

(5) Start climbing down the long vine here. When the foliage in the foreground
starts getting thicker, slow down a bit. You should notice that, at some
point, the foliage silhouette makes the shape of a star. If you stop at
that spot for a little bit, two rings of bananas will appear and start
spinning around. Collect all of those bananas, and you will get a puzzle
    piece.

(6) Climb down the long vine here, then head to the left. There is a shorter
vine to the left of the airplane, which will bring down a couple of
    platforms and a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> Immediately to the right is a cracked stone floor. Breaking it with a
ground-pound will reveal a hidden area with a life balloon and a rotating
    Kong barrel.

(7) Pull on the handle just ahead to sprout a beanstalk with a puzzle piece on
top. Diddy won't be able to reach it, so if you need an extra platform,
hang on the nearby vine to make one.

[N] Just after this section is a handle to pull. This will cause the platform
to whip forward, creating a bridge. Follow it to the right, then roll-jump
off the edge while it is at its highest to get the N.

(8) Grab onto the handle on the hanging platform to align all of the platforms
ahead, as well as create a string of bananas to collect. Team roll across
all of the platforms to get the bananas, and a puzzle piece will be waiting
    for you at the end.

(9) The next handle will cause a tree to sprout with banana bunches on each
leaf. Collect all of the bananas before they disappear, and a puzzle piece
will appear at the very top.

[G] After using the barrel cannon to fire into the background, hang onto the
short vine here to create a couple of platforms to get the G, as well as
    the slot barrel.

(1-BOSS) BIG TOP BOP [BGTOP]
 \____/

Make sure to grab the Kong barrel before you head into the arena. Cranky is a
good choice here, but Dixie is a good alternative, especially if your team
meter is already full. When you're ready, head on inside.

Your first major boss fight is against Pompy, the Presumptuous. At first, he
will slide around the half-pipe shaped arena. For this first phase, this will
always be your chance to deal some damage to him. Once you've hit him once, he
will start throwing green fish at you. Jump on the them to get rid of them, or
just dodge; they will fall into the water below eventually. If, at any point,
the fish or other add-on enemies become too much, you can always use your Kong
pow ability to clear the screen. Once all the enemies are gone, Pompy will
slide again, giving you another chance to score a hit. If you let him slide
around several times before hitting him, he will do a rolling attack, during
which he will be invincible. After the roll, he will go back to sliding along
the half-pipe. Once you hit him again, he will throw another salvo of enemies
at you, but this time, urchins are fair game. Only Cranky can defeat the
urchins directly, the other Kongs will have to dodge. Once they're all gone
again, he will slide one more time. The third hit will move the fight into
phase two.

Pompy will roll across the area sideways, which you will need to dodge; he will
then slide forward giving you another hit opportunity. Go without hitting him
in this phase, and he will do a flying jump down onto the half-pipe, attempting
to squash you. After the fourth hit, tucks will jump into the area from the
water in the background. Dodge them, or defeat them for items, and Pompy will
eventually follow suit. He will be stunned for a bit, so take the easy hit on
him. At his point, whether you hit him again or not, he will do the sideways
roll schtick again, then slide allowing you to take a another hit against him.
If you have hit him six times at this point, the fight will progress to the
third and final stage. Otherwise, more tucks will jump onto the platform, and
the loop will continue from that point.

A few tucks will slide through the arena, followed by Pompy. You will
proabably want to defeat these guys, or else they will clutter up the arena.
This will be followed by more fish, except now, in addition to the urchins, he
will throw gordos at you, which will each require three hits to defeat. He
will then perform a body slam, which is your cue to deal some damage. However,
he will continuously jump up and down in this state, making hitting him much
more difficult. After a few jumps, he will perform one big body slam, which
will stun him for a moment, opening him up for an attack. After this, he will
call in more tucks for another slide atttack, and this pattern will loop
continuously until you have dealt damage to him a total of nine times. Once
you do so, you will get to play a bit of a punching minigame, but it's just for
fun; it doesn't actually affect anything.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> This is the game's first extra level. To enter this level, you will need
to earn a star medal by collecting all of the KONG letters on a single run
on every other stage on this island, including Zip-Line Shrine and Busted
Bayou. Extra levels don't have KONG letters, and are much tougher than
    normal levels, so be prepared.

<!> Be sure to grab the Kong barrel at the beginning here. Dixie is a good
    choice for this stage.

<!> This level starts off with some vine-swinging. Make sure not to touch the
purple spikes, but, at the same time, you will need to keep a good pace, or
you will be bombarded with fireballs from the hot hootz below.

(1) At the end of the first swinging section, you will be put on some platforms
that roll on tracks. On the second platform, jump over the spikes to get a
    puzzle piece.

<!> The next set of hanging platforms will burn up and fall after a short time,
so keep moving. After this, duck under the spikes on the next platform.

(2) When you land, you will see a vine covered in spikes. Duck under it, then
pull on the handle here to get a puzzle piece.

<!> In the next section, spikes protrude from the walls. The spots with the
banana bunches are safe, so when the spikes retract, move quickly to the
    next safe spot.

(3) Before climbing up to the next section, bounce off the hootz with good
timing to get the puzzle piece, then return to the vine while the spikes
are retracted. Easier said than done.

(4) The next section will have you climbing up a set of vines while spikes fall
downward. If you can also pick up all of the goodies along the way, you
    will get a puzzle piece.

<!> The next rolling platform will lead to a hanging platform which will burn
up, which, in turn, triggers a set of swinging vines which get destroyed by
a rolling boulder. The point is: keep moving.

(5) After the barrel cannon, you should spot an orange and purple urn in the
background. Ground-pound in front of it to get a puzzle piece.

<!> Simply run to the right, and the big statue will give you a present with
    a mysterious relic inside.

(1) If you look to the left immediately on this stage, you will notice a shield
covering a hole in the windmill. For now, start to the right, and you'll
see a stack of logs. Ground-pound it, then pull on the handle underneath
in order to reveal a barrel. Throw it at the shield to break it. Inside
is a bonus area. Collect all of the bananas inside, and you will get a
    puzzle piece.

(2) Head back toward the left, to the second windmill platform. One of the
blades has a banana on it. Pick it up, and more bananas will appear on the
blade clockwise to it. Continue to pick up the bananas as they appear, and
a puzzle piece will pop up in the middle of the platforms.

[K] Jump on top of the hootz between the two windmill platforms to get the K.

<!> If you can get some height on your junp off of the second windmill, there
is a life balloon high up in the air above the elevated platform to the
    right.

(3) On the next windmill, there is a tucks on each of the rotating platforms.
Defeat them all, and a puzzle piece will appear in the middle.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

(4) There is a platform with a mug on it just ahead. Defeat the fire pig
first, then ground-pound the mug. Collect all of the bananas that pop out
    to claim a puzzle piece.

<!> After the next set of windmills, there is a life balloon on top of a wooden
platform. If you still have Dixie with you, it should be no problem to
    grab it.

<!> Next, there is a short barrel cannon section. The windmills here will stop
spinning immediately after the barrel is fired, so try to time your shot
when the stuff you want it immediately between the two barrels.

<!> At the end of the barrel cannon section, you will land on a platform with a
spinning windmill with bananas. Collect all of the bananas before they
disappear to get two life balloons.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(5) Shortly ahead, you will see a hanging bag. Throw the Diddy barrel just
ahead of it at the bag, and you will recieve a puzzle piece.

(6) Roll through the pile of leaves just ahead to clear it, then pull on the
handle that is uncovered. This will cause some rocks to fall away,
revealing a puzzle piece. Ground-pound the wooden platform immediately to
the right to drop down and collect it.

<!> In the large mechanical section just ahead, collect the spinning bananas on
the first gear platform to get a life balloon.

[O] The O is just to the right of this platform. Time your jump to where the
platforms on this gear are at the top and bottom, so that you don't fall.

(7) Continue bouncing and jumping your way up the machine, until you see a
barrel cannon. Instead of going in the barrel, jump to the platform on the
left to reach a barrel cannon-based bonus area. Collect all of the bananas
here to get a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #3 is after the next zip-line.

<!> Collect all of the bananas on the next two platforms to get a life balloon.
Be careful: the platforms will fall away after a short time.

<!> Just underneath the schnautzel here, pull the handle to release a winged
banana. Collect all of the bananas following it for a banana coin.

(8) The next windmill has a bell on each platform. Ring them all by
ground-pounding them to reveal a puzzle piece.

[N] The N is on a platform to the right and down. Make sure to get back to the
    windmill before the platform breaks.

<!> All of the wooden platforms in the next section will break if you step on
them. Be sure to keep moving to avoid falling off the stage.

[G] During the next barrel cannon section, take your time before each shot,
because the G will pop up during the second shot, and you will miss it if
    you fire too quickly.

(9) On the very next shot, wait for the puzzle piece to come down with the
windmill blade before taking your shot. Time the shot to grab it.

( 2-2 ) MOUNTAIN MANIA [MTMNA]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

(1) Start to the right. Just after the Dixie barrel, you may notice a large
stone block with a rhino's head engraved on it. Continue heading forward.
Shortly, you will see a crate; ground-pound it to relase Rambi! Head back
to that stone block, and run through it with Rambi. This will uncover a
hidden area with a bunch of goodies, including a puzzle piece.

[K] A short ways ahead, you will come to a 2x2 stack of Rambi blocks. Don't
break them quite yet; instead, jump on top to find the K a bit to the
    right.

(2) Now break the blocks. Underneath, there will be a wooden platform.
Ground-pound it to enter a bonus area. Collect all of the bananas on the
bouncy platforms for a puzzle piece.

(3) Keep moving to the right. You will reach a pair of wooden pillars over a
bed of spikes. A whole lot of bananas will appear when you land on the
first pillar. Collect them all before they disappear, and you will get a
    puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1. If you ever get sent back here, there is another Rambi
    crate for your convenience.

[O} After a couple of belltowers, you will reach a swinging platform with the O
    just above.

(4) After ascending a set of wooden platforms, there will be a set of three
belltowers. The third bell contains a puzzle piece; just whack the bell
with Rambi to knock it loose.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> Be careful of the falling fireballs in the next section. Rambi isn't fond
of fire, so if you get hit by one, you may lose him.

(5) At the end of this treacherous wooden bridge, there is a mug. Ground-pound
    it for a puzzle piece.

[N] On the next bridge, the N is sitting over a gap. A life balloon shortly
    follows.

(6) On the next set of swinging platforms, grab all of the items, and a puzzle
piece will appear on the next platform.

(7) After a walbrick, there will be another mug. Ground-pound it, then collect
all of the bananas, and you will get a puzzle piece.

<!> Just before the next checkpoint, there is a wooden platform that you can
ground-pound to reveal a hidden area with some items, including a heart.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

<!> Traverse the next set of swinging platforms by jumping from the bottom
level of the right platform to the top level of the left platform.

<!> The next section has a bunch of platforms that are slowly falling. Keep
moving quickly in order to stay afloat. Rambi makes this process
    relatively painless.

[G] Keep an eye out for a platform with a background, and a cheesy Chester.
The G is above this platform. It looks high, but you can grab it by just
    jumping.

( 2-3 ) HORN TOP HOP [HRNTP]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

(1) Almost right away, you will see a bag above the pathway. There are a
couple of ways to get it, but the easiest is to head up the leaf platforms,
grab the handle to pull up a barrel, then throw it from the right. Any way
you slice it, the bag contains a puzzle piece.

<!> This entire stage moves along to the beat of the music, so paying attention
to the rhythm (and having your volume up) are both helpful.

[K] The K is floating inside a wind gust created by a large horn. The gust is
safe to traverse, so jump in and grab it.

(2) Follow the next climbable ceiling up and to the left to reveal a puzzle
piece. Jump to the left to claim it.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] The O is in between a couple of leaf platforms up ahead. Jump on the hot
hootz to get it, but make sure it isn't on fire when you hit it.

<!> In the middle of this section, immediately above a leaf pile, there is a
hidden area with some bananas in it. Jump from the leaves on either side
    to get to it.

(3) After the puffton up ahead, there is a platform inside the stone to the
right, which leads to a bonus area. Get all of the bananas for a puzzle
    piece.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> In the next section, you will need to avoid the pointy tucks coming out of
the pipes. Time your traversal well.

[N] Continue forward to a section with climbable ceillings. The N is above a
tuffton. Bounce off of him to get it, then continue on to the next
    climbable ceiling.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

(4) Underneath the left pile just to the left, there is a horn with two things
in it: a pointy tucks and a puzzle piece. They alternate, so make sure
you don't jump into the tucks.

[G] The next area has three horns. The center one alternates between a banana
coin, and a tucks. Jump off of the tucks to get the G above.

<!> You will see the slot barrel at the end of a short barrel cannon section
ahead. Don't bother timing this shot; it's a false ending. Blast into the
    pipe to continue the stage.

<!> This next area will alternate between pushing you upward, and letting you
fall downward. There are some blue hootz here, so make sure you pay
attention so that you don't hit them.

(5) Early in this area, there is a large, circular climbable platform. Collect
all of the bananas around it while avoiding the lemmington, and a puzzle
    piece will appear above it.

<!> Continue ascending this area. At the very top, the slot barrel will be
pushed in and out of the pipe by the wind. Grab the climbable walls on
either side, then jump off while the slot barrel is lowered to finsh the
    level.

( 2-4 ) SAWMILL THRILL [SAWML]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

(1) Head immediately to the left to enter a hidden area inside a tree. Climb
the wall to the left, then jump out the top to find a puzzle piece.

<!> The blast barrel ahead leads to a minecart section.

[K] Once inside the sawmill, jump on top of the first cut log, then jump off
at the edge to get the K.

(2) Immediately after that, duck under the next cut log to find a puzzle piece.

[O] The saws will start cutting a path through the logs for you. Stay along
the top path to get the O. You can jump to it from underneath if you miss
either of the first two jumps, but it's easier to stick to the top.

<!> Checkpoint #1. At this point, you will be thrown onto a toboggan, which
isn't really too different from the minecarts, but it does have a fresh
    healthbar.

<!> You can grab a life balloon ahead by jumping to the top path at the last
    second.

<!> The toboggan will sink for a moment when landing on the water from a jump.
You can use this technique to go underneath the puffton here.

[N] Similarly, go underneath the next puffton to get the N. Be sure to jump
back up to the main path before you crash.

(3) Immediately after this, there is a hut with spikes underneath it. Jump
into left side of the hut to get a puzzle piece.

(4) Near the end of this section, you will float through a dam with spikes
along the top. After this, there is a track above a puffton. Get
underneath the puffton by sinking, and you will float into a bonus area.
Collect all of the bananas inside, and the puzzle piece is yours.

<!> Checkpoint #2. The toboggan will be crafted back into a minecart at this
    point.

(5) In this area, a giant saw will chase you, and spit obstacles out in front
of you. After the first gap, jump on top of the small wooden box, then
on the platform with spikes on the bottom. One last jump off the end of
this platform will net you a puzzle piece.

<!> Stay along the bottom route for some goodies up ahead.

<!> After the gap over a wooden sign, you will need to stay on top of the
tracks that the saw is spitting out. Jump from track to track as you are
    about to fall off.

[G] Jump back onto the main track at the last second to grab the G.

{X} Fall into the first gap, then do a full hop off of the puffton down here to
reach a hidden section of track with a portal at the end. If you are
interested, you can ground-pound the mushroom on the left, and collect all
of the bananas to get a life balloon. When you are ready, head through the
portal to find a secret exit, or you can climb up the right wall to get to
    the regular exit.

( 2-5 ) ALPINE INCLINE [ALPNE]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

[K] Start the stage across the wooden platforms to the right. After the Dixie
barrel, there will be a set of two soaries flying in from the right. Hop
on both of them to grab the K.

<!> Continue across the vines, then shoot through the barrel cannon while the
bananas are in the path to reach checkpoint #1. If you manage to get all
of the bananas along the shot, you will get three banana coins as a reward.

(1) Grab all of the bananas that appear on the floating platforms just to the
left to get a puzzle piece.

(2) Next, when you get to some vines, grab the banana coins on top of the
tufftons, and a puzzle piece will appear in the middle of the vines.

<!> Blast to the balloon platform using the barrel cannon at the end of this
section, then ground-pound it a couple of times to puncture the balloon and
    send the platform flying.

[O] The O is at the very top of this section. Grab it before the balloon
completely deflates, then head into the barrel cannon.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(3) Jump up to the first vine in this section, then jump back to the left,
toward the checkpoint, and you should end up in a barrel cannon. Fire into
the bonus area here, then grab all of the bananas to get a puzzle piece.

<!> There are life balloons above the hootz here, which can easily be accessed
    with Dixie.

(4) To get the puzzle piece directly under the mug, jump onto the moving
platform off the right side, then let it carry you to the left, as you duck
    under the propeller.

[N] Just ahead, there is a moving platform near a platform with a propeller on
it. Just jump on to get the N.

<!> Jump in between the propellers to get to checkpoint #3. Again, if you can
manage to get all of the bananas from this next barrel blast, you will get
    three banana coins.

[G] The G is at the top of the next section. It can be obtained easily with
Dixie, or by jumping off of one of the soaries in the area.

(5) Continue over the slot barrel to reach a bonus area inside a giant set of
balloons. In this new bonus area, you will need to time your blasts
between two barrel cannons to collect all of the bananas. Do so within the
time limit to earn a puzzle piece.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

(1) At the entrance to the tower, you will need to roll through the door to
break it. At the other side of the tower, past the Kong barrel, there is
another door. Roll through it, then ground-pound the floor inside to
access a hidden area with a puzzle piece inside.

<!> At the top of the tower, roll through all three bells to break the statue.
On the zip-line, you will need to do the same thing; corkscrew through the
bells to break the statue. If you mess up, you will be allowed to go
    again, but only one time.

[K] At the end of the zip-line section, jump off the end to get the K.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

(2) After going underneath the large stalactite, jump off of the fish that the
archy is shooting to get to the platform at the top-left corner of this
area. Jump into the blast barrel up here to get to a bonus area. As per
usual, getting all of the bananas will give you a puzzle piece.

<!> Continue to ring the bells to open up the path forward in the next zip-line
    section.

[O] Near the end of this section, there will be a puffton with the O above it.
Drop off the zip-line, then do a full hop off of the puffton to make it
back to the zip-line without falling.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> After blasting into the next tower, you can collect some of the items in
here to make other items appear. Nothing important will appear here,
    though.

(3) A little ways up, you will find a Kong barrel. If you jump off the edge of
the platform to the right, then fall inward, you should land on a wooden
platform. Let that one fall away, then continue to the left to enter a
bonus area. Use the two barrel cannons to get all of the bananas and a
    puzzle piece.

[N] Continue forward, hitting the bells along the zip-lines. A little ways
into this section, you can drop off the the zip-line to a lower one
    containing the N.

<!> Smash into the next tower for checkpoint #3.

(4) Hop up the platforms before the barrel cannon, then blast through the floor
to reach a hidden area with a puzzle piece. The platforms down here will
break when you step on them, so be sure to leave yourself a path back to
    the entrance.

<!> The next tower will begin to crumble when you enter it, so keep moving
    upward.

(5) There is a puzzle piece on the right side of the tower. Just above the
archy, there is a ground-poundable floor. Go through it to find a hidden
area with the puzzle piece inside.

[G] Stay toward the right side of the tower to find the G. It's above a
rickety wooden platform above the pair of hootz. Grab it before the
    platform breaks.

<!> Grab onto the rope hanging from the bell at the top of the tower, and the
slot barrel will appear. Bounce up to it to finish the level.

( 2-A ) CRUMBLE CAVERN [CRBCV]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

<!> To enter this level, you will need to have found the secret exit in Sawmill
    Thrill.

(1) Once you slide down the large vine here, head to the right, and onto the
vines above the tilting platform. Follow them to the left, then jump off
of the hootz here to get a puzzle piece.

[K] The K is hanging between two vines on the ceiling. You can either jump off
of the fluff, or jump from the platform on the right to get up there.

(2) After the next tilting platform, jump down to the blast barrel below to
shoot to a bonus area. Get all the bananas for a puzzle piece.

(3) Head back, and pick up the tuff tucks on the tilting platform, then bring
him to the cheesy area up ahead. Throw him at the bag here, and a puzzle
    piece will pop out.

(4) In the barrel cannon section ahead, one of the barrels is underneath five
columns of bananas. Shoot upward into each column, and a puzzle piece will
    appear in the middle.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

<!> The brown vines in the next area are loose, and will fall after a short
amount of time, so keep moving.

[O] In between two brown vines is the O. Hop off of the hootz to get it.

(5) The path splits in the barrel cannon section ahead. On the second set of
barrels, take the top path, then shoot yourself through the middle to the
blast barrel without a skull on it, and you will end up in a bonus area.
Grab all of the bananas to get a puzzle piece.

<!> Depending on which direction you take the blast barrels, you will get
different prizes. For the first set, the top path gets you a banana coin,
whereas the bottom path gets you a life balloon. On the second set, go up
for a banana coin, and down for a giant banana bunch.

(6) After getting the Kong barrel, hop up to the vines on the right. Jump to
the left off of the left-most vine to get a puzzle piece.

(7) Once again, get all of the bananas above the barrel cannon to get a puzzle
    piece.

<!> This is where the level starts living up to its name. The entire place
will start falling apart, so continue moving forward quickly to avoid the
    crumbling platforms.

[N] Wait inside the barrel cannon, and time your shot to get the N. You will
only get one chance at this, so concentrate on your shot.

[G] After a couple more barrel cannon shots, you will end up inside a barrel
spiraling a large stalactite. The G will appear in front of it, and you
will need to time your shot again to get it.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter this level, you will need to unlock and complete Crumble Cavern.

(1) Right at the start, take the lower path over the spikes to enter a bonus
area. Bounce your way to a puzzle piece by collecting all of the bananas.

<!> This is the game's first rocket barrel level. Jump into the rocket barrel,
then press the jump button five times quickly to ignite it.

<!> Follow the trails of bananas if you can, but watch out for swinging cheese.

[K] There is 2/3 of a wheel of cheese on the ground near the beginning of this
area. Stay near the top of it, and you can fly through the missing segment
as it rolls forward to grab the K.

(2) The next area has cheese blocks tied to ropes. Stay on top of the second
block as it descends, and there will be a puzzle piece up there.

[O] After the next piece of swinging cheese, ascend to grab the O, as the
cheese is thrown to a fellow cheesy Chester.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

(3) This area is dark, but the path forward lights up in front of you. Grab
all of the bananas in this first trail here to make a puzzle piece appear.

[N] After the next stalagmite, there is a swinging cheesy Chester with a
headlamp, which temporarily lights up the N. You will have to collect it
without being able to see it, so remember where it is.

(4) When the trails split, take the top trail with the banana coins, then
continue over the jumping cheesy Chester, and descend to get a puzzle piece
near the bottom of the screen.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

[G] Continue forward, dodging both the cheese that is being kicked up from the
ground, as well as falling from the ceiling. Stay near the center of the
screen while the giant wheel of cheese lurches forward to get the G.

(5) The rocket barrel will crash onto the giant wheel of cheese, and the slot
barrel is on top of it. Jump to the right of this platform to get a puzzle
    piece.

(2-BOSS) MOUNTAINTOP TUSSLE [MTTSL]
 \____/

Grab the Kong barrel, and choose which Kong you will want to bring into this
fight. Contrary to the first boss, Cranky is a poor choice here, due to the
fact that the cane pogo can defeat even helmeted enemies in one shot. Dixie is
a good choice because of her ability to gain extra height on her jumps. Once
you're ready, blast your way into the top of the mountain.

This time, your foe will be Skowl, the Startling. During the first phase his
tactic will be to hurl two rounds of feathers at you, which you will need to
dodge. After that, he will throw hootz chicks into the arena. Jump on them
once to stun them, then throw them at Skowl to damage him. You can do this
more than once per salvo of hootz. Once you hit him three times, a barrel
cannon will appear to take you higher.

During the next phase, Skowl will flap his wings, pushing you backwards. Hootz
will fly at you from the same side. Jump on the ones with egg shells on them,
then throw them at the Skowl, all while dodging or defeating the other hootz.
He will eventually become tired, allowing you to hit him easily with a thrown
hootz. He will then switch sides, and drop feathers on the arena. Take to the
blast barrel on the other side of the platform to make it through safely. At
this point, he will throw more hootz chicks at you. You can once again jump on
one with egg shell on it and throw it at him. At this point, the pattern will
start over. Hit him a total of three times, to move on to the final phase.

At this point, the Skowl will take a more targeted approach to his
feather-throwing tactic, making squeezing between the feathers basically
impossible; dodge to either side instead. After two salvos of feathers, he
will launch a series of pointy tucks at you. They will drop down in two
groups, so find a gap, and switch spots before the second group comes down.
The third set of tucks will be interspersed with hootz chicks, so make sure to
grab one. After the third group, Skowl will move down to one side, so pelt him
with one of the hootz. Next, look for sparkles near the top of the screen.
Giant eggs with pointy tucks in them will fall from those spots, so stay clear
of them. Out of the last egg will pop Skowl, stunned, without his antler
helmet on, so you're clear for a jump attack at this point. After that, he
will launch giant spiky ice balls at you, which will roll toward you. Jump
over them, and the cycle will start anew. After hitting him three more times,
you will be victorious.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter this level, you will need to earn a star medal by collecting all
of the KONG letters on a single run on every other stage on this island,
including Crumble Cavern and Rodent Ruckus.

<!> As the name of this level suggests, you will be jumping off of a lot of
enemies' heads here. A nifty side effect of this is that you will probably
end this stage with more banana coins than you know what to do with. This
starts off with a barrel cannon which shoots at an hootz. You will need to
do a full hop off of this hootz, or plummet into the depths below.

(1) After the next blast barrel, there will be a string of five hootz. Grab
all of the banana bunches above them, and a puzzle piece will appear. Grab
it using the barrel cannon up above. As an added bonus, if you jump off of
all of the hootz, including the puffton three times, that totals eight,
    giving you a life balloon.

(2) Continue forward, past the archy. There will be a set of descending
platforms just ahead. To get the puzzle piece here, roll-jump through the
puzzle piece, then jump either to the platform all the way to the right, or
just go straight up and take the hit.

(3) After blasting onto the set of four hootz, roll jump through the bottom of
the next platform to get a puzzle piece.

(4) After the following blast barrel segment, wait on the next platform for
just a bit. A hootz will fly in from the bottom of the screen with a
    puzzle piece on its head.

(5) Continue forward until you blast out of a barrel, onto a tipping platform
with an hootz and barrel cannon underneath. Blast out of the barrel
quickly, then jump onto the tucks with a puzzle piece above it.

<!> Once you're past the hootz, soaries, and spinning platforms platforms with
tucks, you'll have yourself a mysterious relic.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 9

<!> This stage will also move along to the beat of the music, so make sure to
    turn your volume up.

<!> You can roll through the grass in this stage to chop it down, which will
    sometimes reveal items.

(1) After the two tipping elephant platforms, jump up onto the top platform on
the tree above the Kong barrel to make a flying banana appear. Collect all
of the bananas following it to get a puzzle piece.

[K] The K is hanging high above the path just ahead. Roll through the grass
directly underneath to reveal a platform, which will allow you to easily
collect it, as well as shoot out some other items.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

<!> Clear the grass on the next platform, and it will let fly two life
    balloons, one on either side.

(2) After the first spiky wheel, roll through the grass underneath the tree.
This will reveal a hidden handle. Pull on it to get a puzzle piece.

<!> Clear the grass on the platform underneath the climbable ceiling, and it
will carry you upward, allowing you to bypass the next spiky wheel.

(3) Follow the next climbable ceiling to the left, and it will bring you to a
bulb plant. Ground-pound it for a puzzle piece.

(4) Head back to the right, and drop immediately below the banana bunch on the
climbable ceiling to enter a barrel cannon. This will shoot you into the
wall on the right, revealing a hidden puzzle piece.

<!> Roll through the grass on this platform to open the way forward. Blast
    to checkpoint #2.

(5) Immediately to the left of the checkpoint is a small platform with grass on
it. Roll through the grass, then make it safely back to the platform to
    earn a puzzle piece.

[O] Items will hop up and down between the animal-themed climbable poles to the
right. The O will appear when jumping to the first pink zebra pole.

(6) The next purple zebra will move back and forth much further than the other
ones. Take the time to collect all of the bananas in this area, and you
will be rewarded with a puzzle piece, as well as four life balloons.

<!> The items in the next barrel cannon will spin in time to the music, so you
should time your shot to the beat.

(7) On top of the second tree, there are five banana bunches guarded by a
spiky wheel. Collect them all, and a puzzle piece will appear to the right
    side.

[N] Just ahead is a platform which moves up and down, and has grass on the
bottom. Roll-jump to the top of this platform from the tree to get the N.

(8) Roll through the grass on this platform, as well as the next, to cause a
pole to appear on the right. Climb the second such pole to access a bonus
area. Grab all of the bananas, and your reward will be a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

[G] In between the first two snake-like climbable platforms lies the G, above a
puffton. Time the jump off his head to make it back to the snake platform
    when it's at its lowest.

(9) Once on the second snake platform, a flying banana will lazily make its way
to the left. Grab all of the following bananas to transform it into a
    puzzle piece.

<!> When dealing with the half-snake platforms at the end of the stage, move to
where the banana coin is on each one to mark the safest place to jump to
the next one. After using the barrel cannon at the end, roll through the
grass to reveal the slot barrel.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

<!> The flower platforms in this stage will lean left and right with your
weight, but will bump you off if they are leaned over for too long, so keep
the timing in mind as you move forward.

(1) The second flower platform has two circles of bananas spinning above it.
Collect all of the bananas without falling off to earn a puzzle piece.

[K] The K is above a gap just ahead of this. You can do a full hop off of the
    waldough here to grab it.

<!> After the hill with the rolling, spiky fruit, ground-pound the middle of
the wooden platform to find a hidden area with a few items in it.

(2) Pull on the handle just below the giant flower platform to make smaller
flower platforms sprout here. Then, jump on the tuff tucks, carry him up
to the right, then throw him at the wooden wall to open up a bonus area.
Grab all of the bananas inside for a puzzle piece.

<!> You can now use the flower platforms to get to the Kong barrel at the
    top-left corner of the screen.

<!> Ground-pound the wooden platform at the top to get to checkpoint #1.

[O] Continue a little ways forward to the next flower platform. The O is just
underneath the tree branch on the right. Run down there while the path is
clear of spiky fruit, then jump back up to the platform. The bigger fruit
roll faster than the small ones, so there tends to be a bit of a lag after
    a big one rolls by.

(3) Just ahead, there is a handle on the ground. Find a gap in the fruit, then
pull on it. Collect the bananas that appear, and you will get a puzzle
    piece.

(4) Underneath the stone platform ahead, roll-jump to the right to grab the
Dixie barrel here. Use Dixie to helicopter spin up to the left to get on
top of the stone platform, where you will find a puzzle piece.

[N] The N will be above a hot hootz after a barrel cannon. Slide down to the
bottom of the vine here to grab it, since you won't want to jump on the
    hootz.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> The buffaloafer here can be defeated by luring it into a wall, then jumping
on its belly three times. Doing so will allow you to collect the items in
the grass and handle in this area.

(5) Jump onto the flower platforms in front of the set of three waterfalls
here, and banana bunches will begin to descend from the top of the screen.
Maneuver the flowers to pick each and every one of them up, and a puzzle
piece will appear in the center.

<!> Some of the items up ahead are most easily collected with Cranky, so you
may want to consider choosing him from the Kong barrel here.

(6) Continue forward until you find a safe area underneath a stone platform.
Ground-pound the bulb flower just ahead, then collect all of the bananas
that appear, and you will get a puzzle piece as a reward.

(7) Once you blast into the background, run to the right, away from the giant
rolling fruit, picking up all of the items, if you can. If you manage to
get them all, you will be rewarded with a puzzle piece on top of the
climblable wall. Grab it before the fruit knocks down the platform.

[G] At the end of this section, quickly climb down the climbable wall to grab
the G. The G will fall down with the platform, so the puzzle piece should
    take priority.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> The tornados in this level will allow you to get a huge upward boost when
you move through them. You can tell which direction you will be thrown by
looking at the way the center of the tornado is pointing. Do so to collect
the items at the beginning of the level.

<!> Underneath the second tornado, ground-pound the left side of the wooden
platform to enter an area with a Diddy barrel.

(1) Break open the Rambi crate ahead, then backtrack to the Rambi stone. Break
it to unearth a bonus area. Once you grab all of the bananas, a puzzle
    piece will be yours.

(2) Continue to the right with Rambi. Blast open the Rambi stone at the bottom
of the stage ahead to get a couple of banana coins, and a puzzle piece.

[K] Use the tornado's lift up ahead to get the K over the cacti.

<!> Once you reach the bulb flower up ahead, it will start lightning. Look for
the blue streaks from the sky for a warning on where not to be.

[O] The O is floating above a wooden platform along the path. Jump to it when
the platform is at its highest to reach it.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

<!> Pointy tucks and porcupals will begin being thrown from the background.
Watch out, because the porcupals are on fire, which Rambi will not
    appreciate.

(3) Pull on the handle on the hill here in between being pelted by the enemies
    to get a puzzle piece.

[N] After the next Diddy barrel, more of the same enemies will start flying in
from the right. Upon reaching a rickety wooden bridge, the N will fly in
as well. Jump to grab it before it gets whisked away.

<!> After using the barrel cannon at the end of this section, you will need to
run from a gigantic tornado, over rickety platforms.

<!> Once you are clear of the tornado, use the barrel cannon to reach
    checkpoint #2.

(4) Jump to the left to reach a Rambi crate, and a puzzle piece.

(5) Enemies and items will recommence flying in from the right. Once you reach
a Dixie barrel, a blast barrel will fly overhead. Jump in to be blasted to
a bonus area. Collect all of the bananas to earn a puzzle piece.

<!> Watch out for a buffaloafer to be flung in from the background on a grassy
platform; if you get hit by it, you are likely to lose Rambi into the pit.

[G] If you can keep Rambi all the way to the end of this section, you can
safely navigate the catci here to get the G. Otherwise, you can try to
roll-jump or ponytail twirl to get it, or simply take the hit.

<!> Continue to dodge the lightning strikes in the next area, then wait for the
platform just in front of the slot barrel to come down to you to finish off
the level. Make sure you hit the slot barrel before lightning strikes the
    platform.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

<!> Many portions of this stage are on fire. You can use the blue water fruit
sitting around the area to put out any of the fires. The first handle on
the ground conceals one such fruit. If you put out the fire to the left of
the level's start, then roll through the grass underneath, you will get a
    life balloon.

<!> The patch of grass after the first pile of water fruit hides a Kong barrel.
Put out the fire then clear the grass to reach it.

(1) Put out, then roll over the burning grass underneath the pair of ropes, and
a puzzle piece will pop out.

[K] The K is on top of a tree branch just ahead. You can jump to it from the
right, but bear in mind that the charred leaves will crumble after a short
    amount of time.

(2) The tree after the rope will begin to descend into the fire after you jump
on it. Quickly collect the banana on each branch, and a puzzle piece will
    appear on the top.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

<!> This next section marks the return of the screaming pillars from Donkey
Kong Country Returns, but this time, they're on fire. Ground-pound them
after they fall to release some goodies.

<!> The coal ground with firey particle effects coming out of it will ignite
shortly after anything steps on it, including enemies. Be sure to stay
light on your feet, and jump often during these sections.

(3) Grab the water fruit here, and carry it to the burning grass on the thin
platform to the right. Put it out, then ground-pound the platform to reach
a bonus area that is slightly different than any previous one. Shoot the
barrel cannons up, then ground-pound the floor to get back down, while
collecting the bananas. Grab them all for a puzzle piece.

<!> The screaming pillars in the next area can be used as safe platforms once
they fall down. None of them contain anything incredibly interesting, so
don't be too concerned about breaking them.

(4) You will see the O above a coal floor here. Quickly run past all of it to
find a pile of water fruit. Use these to cool the ground underneath the
handle here, then pull on it for a puzzle piece.

[O] Head back to the water fruit, and use it to put out the fire on the ropes.
You can then jump between the ropes to get the O.

<!> Bring one of the water fruit with you as you move forward. Since DK holds
the fruit above his head, it can protect you from the falling fireballs.

[N] The next few trees will begin to fall when you step on them. Descend the
second tree to get the N, then jump to the next platform before you fall
    into the inferno.

(5) The top branch of the next tree holds a puzzle piece. Continue climbing
the tree as it falls to grab it.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> When choosing a Kong from the Kong barrel, keep in mind that Cranky's cane
pogo move will not protect him from fire, but it will be able to bounce
    off of the coals harmlessly.

<!> To get the giant banana bunch from the hanging bag here, pull on the handle
on top of the screaming pillar to reveal a water fruit, then throw it at
    the bag.

[G] The G is in the air in the next section, but falling fireballs are very
abundant, as well. Start moving as early as possible after the fireballs
hit the ground to allow enough room in the air to jump and grab it.

(6) Immediately after that, grab one of the water fruit from the right side of
the tree trunk, then bring it back to the left to put out the fire on the
left side of it. Doing so will open up a bonus area. Collect all of the
bananas inside to get a puzzle piece.

(7) Swing all the way to the slot barrel, and find a way past it. This is
easiest to do while it's making a high bounce to the right. Roll through
the grass on the ledge all the way to the right to make a puzzle piece
    appear.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

(1) Jump in the water at the beginning of the stage, then swim to the left to
access a bonus area. Blast your way to all the bananas inside for an early
    puzzle piece.

<!> If you are planning on leaving through either of this stage's secret exits,
make sure to grab Dixie from the Kong barrel. You'll see why later.

<!> After taking the time to enjoy this stage's arrangement of Stickerbrush
Symphony, hop into the rocket barrel and blast off!

[K] Right at the beginning, follow the banana bunches to the K at the end of
    the set.

(2) Starting with the banana coin, collect the entire trail of bananas to make
    a puzzle piece appear.

<!> Make sure you fly under the arch up ahead, or you'll crash into it. It's
    not just scenery.

[O] After a large, green fish pops a banana bunch into the air, fly down under
the next arch for the O.

(3) Collect as many of the eight banana coins as you can, then fly under the
next arch to grab a puzzle piece. If you already have this one, you can go
up for a life balloon instead.

<!> Checkpoint #1. If you do happen to restart here, there are a couple of
items underwater that you can grab. Nothing too interesting, but it's a
    nice touch by the developers.

(4) After the two sets of two fish nets each, fly all the way to the top of the
screen to net yourself a puzzle piece.

[N] Stay near the top of the screen to get the N after two more small fish
    nets.

{X} After the giant eel in the background knocks over two fish nets, stay near
the top of the screen as you approach the hut to enter a portal. There is
a secret exit in here, but it's high up, and only reachable with Dixie or
Cranky. If you came in here by mistake, there's also an exit portal.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

[G] Three fish will pop bubbles full of items into the air here. The third one
contains the G, so stay high to pick it up.

<!> Pay attention to the color of the eels in the next section. Blue eels will
stay on the surface, so dodge up. Purple ones will jump into the air, so
    dodge down.

(5) Once the rocket barrel crashes, swim down deep underwater to the right
side. Corkscrew attack the clam against the wall, and it will spit up a
    puzzle piece.

{X} Swim all the way to the bottom of the lake to find a portal with a current
rushing against it. Use Dixie's ponytail propeller to reach the portal,
then hit the secret slot barrel inside.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

(1) Jump up to the left just above the Diddy barrel to find a bonus area.
Collect all of the bananas above the bouncy platforms for a puzzle piece.

<!> It should be fairly obvious, but don't let the explosives swinging around
this level touch you, or you're going to take damage.

[K] The K is over one of the gaps early on in the area. Jump over the swinging
    TNT to grab it.

<!> Blast through the first barrel cannon section, grabbing as many items as
    you can.

(2) Once you reach the section in the far background where the TNT continuously
scrolls from the top and bottom of the screen, items will appear alongside
the TNT. On the second shot, you can get a banana coin, and on the third,
there is a puzzle piece up for grabs.

<!> Checkpoint. Interesting factoid: This is the first stage so far to only
    have one checkpoint.

(3) Jump on the boom bird hauling around a watermelon bomb, and he will drop
it. Quickly cart it to the left, and throw it at the shield against the
wall before it blows up. Grab all of the bananas in the bonus area inside,
and the puzzle piece will be yours.

[O] Head back toward the right, but this time take the upper path. The O is
between the two wooden platforms up here.

(4) Jump back down to where the boom bird is, and look for a
differently-colored patch of wood. Ground-pound it to drop into a hidden
    area containing a puzzle piece.

<!> Be careful of the falling pillars in the next section. These pillars will
not only try to fall on you while you are on the ground, but will also
break any barrel cannon they fall on, so you will need to think quickly
    when you see one.

[N] After blasting down the waterfall, there will be a fish popping the N in
and out of the river here. Time your shot while the N has just come out of
    the water to grab it.

[G] Shortly thereafter, the G will be within a rotation of swinging TNT. Shoot
just before the G reaches the front-middle to get it.

(5) Once on the platform with the slot barrel, fall off the left side to reach
a blast barrel to a puzzle piece.

( 3-A ) RICKETY RAFTERS [RFTRS]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter this level, you will need to have found the second secret exit in
    Twilight Terror.

<!> In this stage, you will need to grab and hold trigger vines, or stand on
platforms connected to gears in order to move platforms around. You will
get several examples of this early on in the stage.

(1) After riding a platform under some low-hanging spikes, ground-pound the
wooden floor right underneath the hootz to enter a new bonus area. This
one will require you to grab bananas on top of platforms moving in and out
of the background. They move in a very predictable pattern, starting from
the bottom moving up. Once you have them all, you will be rewarded with a
    puzzle piece.

(2) After defeating the two tucks and the waldough, hang on the second trigger
vine to open up the spike pit to the left. Jump down into the blast barrel
in the middle to reveal a hidden area with some bananas and a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

<!> In this next section, you will need to handle multiple mechanisms at the
same time. For example, there is a platform that rolls from left to right
when you stand on in, but there is also a trigger vine that lowers the next
platform you need to jump on. You must keep the platforms in sync with
each other in order to progress.

[O] After the platform in the above example, bounce off of the hootz to grab
    the O in the air.

<!> The next platform is powered by throwing the water fruit at the target.

<!> You can ground-pound the box here to unveil a pile of water fruit. Use it
to defeat the porcupals below, the hit the target in the hut. This will
cause a trigger vine to appear. Pull it, then get all of the bananas that
appear to earn some banana coins and a life balloon.

(3) Before hopping into the barrel cannon at the end of the next section, climb
the climbable ceiling to the left, then pull on the trigger vine at the
top. This will lower a hidden container; jump in from the right to reveal
    a puzzle piece.

[N] Fire the barrel cannon while the swooper dooper is on the right-most side,
then do a full hop off of it to collect the N.

(4) After rolling the large wheel to a barrel cannon, hold the grab button
during the shot, so that you grab the vine that is positioned in the
middle, behind the leaves at the top of the screen. Doing so will uncover
a hidden puzzle piece, as well as a barrel cannon that you can drop into.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

[G] Continue making your way across the platforms. The G is a bit tricky; once
you come across two parallel platform tracks with some blue hootz along
them, jump on the first to move it right, then to the second before you
get burned. Jump back to the first one, then climb the vine to the right.
Before the second platform goes back to the left, jump to it and grab the
    G.

(5) Ignore the barrel cannon for now; instead, jump down and roll through the
grass underneath the trigger vine to cause a puzzle piece to appear.

<!> To reach the slot barrel, blast to the trigger vine, then quickly jump back
into the blast barrel, and immediately fire into the slot barrel.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

<!> To enter this level, you will need to have found the first secret exit in
    Twilight Terror.

(1) As soon as the yellow flower platforms begin appearing, follow them up to
the left, then ground-pound the bulb plant for a puzzle piece.

<!> Cranky is a shoe-in for your choice of Kong for this level, given the
    incredible amount of spikiness here.

<!> Grab the vine here to sprout a beanstalk with leaf platforms.

[K] The K is above a red chomp in the path. Jump on it when its mouth is
closed to gain enough height to get the K.

(2) On the next beanstalk, collect the bananas as they appear, and a third leaf
will grow on the top, along with a puzzle piece.

(3) On the next solid platform, there is a vine hidden in the brambles at the
top of the screen. Grab onto it, and a huge beanstalk will appear in the
background, as well as a barrel cannon. Blast to it, them climb along it,
collecting all of the bananas, while avoiding the lemmingtons. Once you
grab all of the bananas, a puzzle piece will appear above the return barrel
cannon. Drop down off the climbable surface to dodge the lemmingtons, then
climb back around to the barrel cannon.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

(4) Jump across the beanstalks, then jump into the wall above the Kong barrel
to reveal a hidden bonus area. Use the barrel cannons to clear the place
of bananas to receive a puzzle piece.

[O] Jump to the O when the chomp's mouth is closed. This is easier to do if
    you jump from the right.

(5) Before jumping onto the solid platform with the bulb plant, drop down the
right-most wall, where you can see a single banana, to fall into a barrel
cannon. This will blast you into a puzzle piece.

<!> Pulling on the vine here will open up a path along the ground. Beware the
    buffaloafer here.

(6) Immediately after blasting down into the thick of the brambles, head to the
left into a hidden area. Ground-pound the bulb plant here, then collect
the bananas that pop out to get a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

[N] The N is over a pit of cacti. Use Cranky's cane pogo, or roll-jump through
the gap to get the N.

(7) Jump to the left off of the yellow flower platform directly above the N to
uncover a hidden bonus area. Grab all of the bananas for a puzzle piece.

[G] The G is right along the path, as well. Hop off of the hootz while the
puffton is high in the air for your best chance of grabbing it safely.

(3-BOSS) TRIPLE TROUBLE [TPLTB]
 \____/

This island's boss is a Ba-Boom, the Boisterous, who creates two shadow clones
of himself. He will start the fight with a rope swing technique. Each of the
clones will swing downward at you while weilding a hammer. The third, fourth,
and fifth swings will be open to a jump attack, signified by not pulling out a
hammer. Once that's over, two of them will drop down and do spinning roll
attacks. Continue to dodge them until they bash against the walls, stunned.
This is another opportunity for a jump attack. At this point, the cycle will
start over. Once you have hit any single one of them three times, the battle
will move into phase two.

The two remaining clones will toss some spiky cherry bombs around. Wait for
them to pull out a watermelon bomb, then toss it back at one of them for a hit.
After that, they will start bouncing around inside the arena. After jumping
around for a little bit, they will fall on their heads, opening them up for a
jump attack. The cycle will start again with the bombs at this point. Hit
either of them three times (hits accrued during the first phase do not count)
to send the fight into its final phase.

At this point, the last clone will create two ghost clones of himself, then
start swinging around from the ceiling. The clones will start to throw bombs
at you. Wait for a watermelon bomb to pop out, then toss it at the real clone
to score a hit. This part is a combination of the swinging tactic from the
first phase, and the bomb-throwing attack of the second phase. The clones will
start the swing from ropes at the top of the arena, and either throw bombs, or
swing hammers at you. Wait for the real one to throw a bomb, then he will
swing upside-down, allowing you to hit him with a jump attack. After this, the
cycle will begin anew. Hit the last Ba-boom three times to seal your victory.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter this level, you will need to earn a star medal by collecting all
of the KONG letters on a single run on every other stage on this island,
including Rickety Rafters and Bramble Scramble.

<!> While not usually my first choice, Diddy's extended hangtime seemed to be
incredibly helpful on this stage, due to the level of precision you will
need to execute these jumps. With that said, Diddy is likely the worst
candidate for picking up the fifth puzzle piece, so that may influence your
    decision.

<!> Many of the platforms in this level will swing back and forth, while others
will respond to weight. The platforms that have tesla coils directly
underneath them will slowly sink while you stand on them, requiring you to
get off every once in a while, so that they can reset. You can tell which
direction the platforms are going to move based off of the scratch marks on
    the walls.

(1) After crossing the swinging platforms for a bit, there is an urn on a
small, elevated platform. Ground-pound it to release a pattern of bananas.
Grab them all to earn a puzzle piece.

(2) In the closely-following barrel cannon section, fire the fourth barrel to
the left instead of to the right to get a puzzle piece. Sadly, this will
also cause you to backtrack all the way to the first barrel.

(3) In the next section, there is a puzzle piece rotating along with one of the
electric rods. Wait for it to appear on the left side of its axis, then
jump to it when it starts to rotate.

(4) The next puzzle piece is high in the air above a gap between to pendulum
arms. Jump to it from the top of the pendulum's trajectory to grab it.

(5) After jumping over a puffton to avoid a shocking pendulum ride, there are
a pair of pendulum platforms with spikes on the opposite side. There is a
puzzle piece here, positioned right above the spiky side of the second
platform. To grab it, either cane pogo off of the platform, or use the
jetpack or ponytail twirl to navigate to it safely. If you're Donkey Kong,
or don't want to take the risk of plummeting into oblivion after a botched
jetpack jump, you can just take the hit from the spikes.

<!> After blasting your way to the final section, you'll have to make some
immediate precision jumps, then pull on the handle the be flung to the
    mysterious relic.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

<!> To begin this island, head right. Very early on, you will encounter a
papa painguin. You can either avoid him entirely, throw the tuff tucks at
him, or ground-pound near him to disarm him, then roll into him to finish
    the job.

(1) Continue right into the large body of water. Stay near the surface as you
head right, and stop when you find a rock sticking into the top of the
water. Jump up through the dock on the right side of the rock, and
ground-pound the weathered barrel to the left. Collect all of the bananas
that pop out to reveal a puzzle piece.

[K] Head down into the depths. The K will be in between two finleys near the
    center of the chasm.

<!> If you are running low on air, grab some from the coral on the right. Make
sure you grab the Kong barrel down here as well. If you swim through the
wall all the way to the left, you will uncover a hidden area containing
    a banana coin.

(2) After traveling through the horizontal section, you will pass into a
clearing. There are a bunch of items around this area, but the most
important is hiding out in the top-right corner, behind a fragment of a
sunken ship. Swim up through the wreckage to reveal a hidden area with a
    puzzle piece.

<!> Once you are done collecting items here, corkscrew the button at the bottom
of the area to release a barrel cannon. Use it to blast into the next
    section.

<!> Once here, swim past the three lights on the back wall to cause the
machinery here to start moving. Swim through the spikes here, being
    mindful of your air levels.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] Inside the air jet up ahead, the O is spinning along with a spiky rod. If
it ends up in an awkward position, you can corkscrew to fine-tune your
trajectory, but make sure you don't start moving perpendicular to the rod,
or you're liable to swim right into it.

(3) Just ahead, instead of following the banana trail upward, corkscrew into
the wall just below to enter a bonus area. Collect all of the bananas to
    earn a puzzle piece.

(4) After passing through the next clearing, you will need to corkscrew through
some cracked stone blocks to continue forward. If you break the ones below
as well, you will enter a hidden area with a puzzle piece inside.

<!> In the next section, you will need to swim against a strong current. The
current will switch on and off, but Dixie can fight it with her ponytail
propeller. At the end, swim through all three lights again to change the
direction of the circuit, opening the way forward.

(5) If you head back after switching the circuit, instead, you will see that
part of the ceiling has caved in. Swim through it to find a puzzle
    piece...

{X} ... and if you brought Dixie with you, you can ponytail propeller through
the current up ahead to reach a blue portal containing a secret exit.

<!> Head forward instead to find checkpoint #2.

[N] The N just up ahead thinks it's a fish. Corkscrew into the school here to
    free it.

(5) In the large clearing with the concentric sets of rotating spikes,
corkscrew through the floor to enter one of the game's more malevolent
hidden areas. Take out the fritz while it isn't electrified, then collect
all of the bananas to earn a puzzle piece. Make sure to keep an eye on
    your air meter.

[G] Swim through the three lights one more time to open up a large horizontal
section with a current pushing you forward. The G is about one-third of
the way from the top after two parallel sets of urchins.

(7) Once you reach the slot barrel, corkscrew through the grassy floor to open
up a bonus area. Use the springy platforms to collect all of the bananas,
and the puzzle piece will be yours.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

(1) At the beginning of this stage, there are some suspended wooden platforms.
You may notice a barrel cannon underneath the very first one. Hop in to
fire to a bonus area. Collect all of the bananas between the vines to get
    a puzzle piece.

[K] Upon entering the mine cart, take the top path, then jump off the end to
    collect the K.

(2) After a pair of snaggles, hop over the wooden fence, but not to the top
path, to find a puzzle piece nestled into the lower track. Jump back up to
    the top after collecting it.

<!> Checkpoint #1. At this point, you will go down into a temple.

(3) The room after the first door splits the track into three. Collect all of
the bananas in this room to make a puzzle piece appear. The bananas will
appear on the middle, left, then middle tracks.

[O] Immediately after this, the track splits into two. The O will appear over
the gap on the left track.

(3) All of the wooden walls in the next section will slide to the opposite
side. With this in mind, collect all of the bananas throughout this area
and a puzzle piece will appear on the left track. The bananas appear on
    the left, right, then left.

<!> Checkpoint #2. The camera will pan back to a side view at this point.

(4) After the camera goes back to the corner view, you will need to jump to the
left track, then back to the right. A large stone will appear in front of
the right track at this point, but will lower before it poses a threat.
Don't take the bait; stay on the right track to get a puzzle piece.

[N] After a couple of blast barrels, the N will be above a gap along the path.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

[G] When the track splits into five here, the second track from the left will
present the G. Continue to dodge the obstacles on the way, but favor the
left side for your best chance at grabbing it.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 9

<!> In this silhouette underwater stage, you will need to corkscrew into the
schools of small fish to get them to generate light for you. Many things
in this stage are impossible to see without doing so.

[K] At the bottom of the first chasm, light up the fish, exposing the K behind
some electric coral on the ceiling. Swim up there to grab it.

<!> Keep lighting up the fish as you move forward. Eventually, you will wake
up a giant eel, which will open the path ahead.

(1) Just after the opening with five pufftups inside, there is a hidden area up
and to the left. Find it by lighting up the fish, the collect all of the
bananas inside to earn a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

(2) Grab the tuff tucks up ahead, and carry him up to the platform on the left.
Throw him at the wall up and to the right to open up a bonus area. Snag
all of the bananas inside for a puzzle piece.

[O] Use the bouncy platform to the right of the Diddy barrel to reach the O
    overhead.

(3) Continue ahead until you reach a ring of jellyfish circling a spiky rock.
Follow them all the way around to about the one o'clock position. There is
a darkened inset into the outer rock continaing a puzzle piece here.

<!> Ahead, corkscrew through the green arrow sign in the direction it's
pointing to cause the area to light up, retracting the electric coral.

(4) Just before the next arrow sign, collect the spiral-shaped pattern of
bananas to cause a puzzle piece to appear.

[N] The N is also at the top-right corner of this area, obscured by the machine
    connected to the arrow sign.

(5) Collect all of the bananas in the air pocket at the top of the next area,
and a puzzle piece will appear in the center.

<!> Blast to checkpoint #2.

(6) Bring the tuff tucks back to the bag just ahead to cause a pattern of
bananas to appear. Grab them all, and a puzzle piece will be yours.

(7) Once back in the water, head to the left, then jump out of the water for an
    easy puzzle piece.

(8) In the next area, follow the fish around the circular rocks covered with
coral. The second circle has a small gap in the bottom. Swim inside, then
collect all of the bananas, and puzzle piece will appear in the middle.

[G] While traversing the closing passageway with three green arrow signs
inside, stay near the top after the third. The G is hiding in the top
    half, near the pufftup.

(9) Before hitting the slot barrel in this level, break through the wooden
section of the wall on the right to enter a bonus area. This one is new,
but still has the same goal. Use the bouncy platforms to collect all of
the bananas, and you will earn a puzzle piece.

( 4-4 ) IRATE EIGHT [IRTET]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

(1) Climb the vine at the begingging of the stage up to find a bonus area. Nab
all of the bananas inside for a puzzle piece.

<!> The mines underwater will explode if you get too close to them, spitting
out shrapnel in the four diagonal directions. You can break through the
    chains with a corkscrew.

(2) After intentionally setting off the four mines underneath the large stone,
you can enter it via a hole in the bottom, revealing some banana bunches.
Collect them all, and a puzzle piece will appear in the middle.

[K] The K lies between two spinning mines just ahead. You can either try to
time your attempt at swimming through, or just play it safe and let the
    mines explode before grabbing it.

<!> After swimming through a gentle current, you will reach checkpoint #1.

<!> Swim down into the dead-end, and grab the Dixie barrel, and the whole area
will start to break apart. Squiddicus has returned from the previous game,
and is looking for some revenge. Quickly swim upwards, away from the
ascending cloud of ink, which will instantly spell your demise. The
tentacles will hurt you too, so make sure to dodge them.

(3) After breaking through the first chain, swim through the right wall to
reveal a hidden area with a puzzle piece.

[O] In the next barrel cannon section, there is one auto-fire barrel. After
that, time your next shot so that you are even with the next barrel in
    order to claim the O.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> Tentacles will continue to bust through the mossy sections of the
background at this point, so keep on your guard.

(4) After the Kong barrel, there is a tentacle rotating at the top-right of the
screen. Wait for it to move left, then swim up, through the ceiling, and
into a bonus area. Collect all of the bananas to get a puzzle piece.

[N] The N is in between four pufftups ahead. Make sure you defeat them while
    they are not spiky.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

[G] After using the barrel cannons here, the ink will start up again, so make
your way upward. The G is in an alcove on the right early on in the area.

(5) Follow the bananas to keep the safest path away from the tentacles. Once
the color of the water starts to clear up, Squiddicus will start to poke
his tentacles out of the walls. Head to the right after the two tentacles
come out of the right wall, then swim up to open up a hidden area with a
    puzzle piece.

<!> Once you're out of the water, fire through the broken chains to detach the
mines and defeat Squiddicus. If you lollygag, he will destroy the barrel
cannons, dooming you. Once he's taken care of, the slot barrel will
    appear.

[K] Start off toward the right. The K is on a small platform below a climbable
ceiling. Drop down to grab it, avoiding the fireballs from the hot hootz.

(1) Bounce off of the next painguin tucks, up above the climbable ceiling to
the left, in order to reveal a hidden bonus area. Blast your way to a
hundred bananas to earn a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

(2) Immediately after the Kong barrel ahead, pull on the handle to reveal a
puzzle piece. Watch out for the spiky arm in the background though.

[O] Just ahead, you will see the O in a gap. Wait for the platform on the left
to fall down a sufficient distance, then roll-jump through the gap to get
    the O.

(3) Grab a watermelon bomb from the next boom bird in the background, and toss
it onto the wooden platform just to the left. It will blow up the box on
    top, releasing a puzzle piece.

<!> Use another watermelon bomb here to blow up the box on the right, which
    will open the path forward.

<!> After some barrel cannoning and some watermelon bombing, you will reach
    checkpoint #2.

[N] Keep moving quickly as you head forward. Jump off the archy's first fish
    to reach the N.

(4) The barrel cannons in the next area will move in a distinct pattern. The
first gear will turn 180 degrees each tick, so you are either facing left
or right. The coins on the middle gear will rotate 90 degrees each tick.
The third gear will rotate 180 degrees every other tick, and 90 degrees
clockwise on the off-ticks. If you can time your shots to pick up all four
coins on the center gear, a puzzle piece will appear in their place.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

<!> Ground-pound the big box beneath the spiky arm just ahead to reveal a Kong
    barrel.

(5) Follow the platforms up and to the left to reveal a bonus area. Get all of
the bananas from the moving platforms to get a puzzle piece.

[G] The G is on the next spiky arm, and only available when the arm is to the
right. Time your jump so that you can grab the G without getting hit by
    the arm.

(6) Watermelon bomb the two boxes ahead to find a puzzle piece.

(7) After blasting to the slot barrel, ground-pound the boxes here before the
giant watermelon bomb explodes to finish the level. If you pound the boxes
all the way to the right, you will also get a puzzle piece. If that big
bomb explodes first, you're done for, so make sure you're quick about it.

(1) Follow the trail of bananas all the way into the water. Grab all of them
and a puzzle piece will appear right at the surface.

<!> Head underwater, then corkscrew through the gear with the arrows on it to
    open your way forward.

(2) Collect all four banana coins in the next room to make a puzzle piece
    appear in the center.

[K] Corkscrew through all three gears to open the way forward. The K is in the
top-left corner of the next room.

<!> Surface to find checkpoint #1.

(3) If you don't have a partner Kong, head forward a bit to find a Kong barrel,
and bust either Dixie or Cranky out of it, then head back to the platform
to the left of the checkpoint. Jump up to the wooden dock above, then
ground-pound the barrel chest up there to get a puzzle piece.

<!> Use the barrel cannon to blast yourself back underwater.

(4) Inside the second current chamber, swim into the center tank through the
bottom, then collect the bananas inside to receive a puzzle piece.

[O] The O is visible in the side of the third tank. Follow the debris around
to the left side to claim it.

<!> In the next section, collect the bubbled bananas to keep your air up, and
corkscrew through the gears to continue moving the floor downward.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(5) Break open the Kong barrel, then swim up through the large gear just above
to enter a bonus area. Get all of the bananas to get a puzzle piece.

[N] The N is between two electrified tentacles just ahead. Swim inside while
they are separated to grab it.

[G] Stay near the bottom of the next section with the buzzsaws to find the G.

(5) Dive immediately under the next dock to find a barrel cannon. Blast
yourself to a bonus area, then get all of the bananas in order to collect a
    puzzle piece.

(6) Continue along the surface to the right until you must go underwater again.
Collect all six banana bunches around the pipe down here to get another
    puzzle piece.

<!> Resurface again to reach checkpoint #2.

[N] The N is on the next boat. Use the upward force from the statue to grab
it, but watch out for the blue hootz.

(7) On the next set of tilting platforms, start off by collecting the banana
bunch. Make your way to the right, collecting all of the bananas that
appear, then back to the left. Once you have all of the bananas, a puzzle
piece will be rewarded to you.

{X} Ahead, there are some spiky balls bouncing back and forth along platforms.
Use Cranky's cane pogo to bounce off the right-most one to the vine above
in order to reach the portal on the right. You will find the secret exit
    inside.

(8) Before getting in the barrel cannon, take a quick dive to find a puzzle
piece partially hidden in the grass.

[G] The G is along one of the barrel blasts' paths. You literally can't miss
it, assuming you didn't take the secret exit.

(9) Intentionally miss the slot barrel at the end by shooting over it. This
will lead to an alternate barrel cannon path which contains a puzzle piece.

( 4-B ) SHOAL ATOLL [SLATL]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter this level, you will need to have found the secret exit in Rockin'
    Relics.

[K] Bounce off of the first set of tucks at the beginning to reach the K.

(1) As you approach the bridge at the right side of this area, it will break
apart. Get to the other side before it is completely destroyed, and you
will find a treasure chest. I found this easiest to do with a ponytail
twirl onto the center of the bridge, then another quick ponytail twirl to
the other side. Ground-pound the chest, then collect all of the bananas
that pop out to earn a well-deserved puzzle piece.

<!> Enter into the pathway on the right. At this point, the level becomes a
series of choosing pathways to find various colors of keys and chests, so I
will try to take you along the shortest route possible.

[O] Take the top path in the first room to find the O.

<!> There is another path at the top-left of this room. Head there to get the
    red key.

(2) Swim through the current into the opening on the very left to enter a bonus
area. Collect all of the bananas inside to get a puzzle piece.

<!> Swim down now to open the red chest, and get the green key. You can take
either path now, but the bottom path is faster.

(3) In the next room, where the two paths meet, there is a yellow chest. Swim
to the bottom-right corner of this room, then corkscrew the barrel chest
here to open it. A puzzle piece will pop out for you to collect.

<!> Once you reach the yellow chest, swim down to get to the green chest. Open
it to refill your air, and get the blue key.

[N] The N is just below the blue chest. Take out the fritz before you attempt
    to grab it.

<!> Swim to the left now. In the next room, collect each set of bananas, and
the ceiling will open up. The right-most set is a heart and two banana
coins. The center one is a pair of mines. The third one opens up into a
    new pathway. Take that path.

(4) In the next room, swim down against the current, collecting all of the
bananas as you go. Once you get them all, a puzzle piece will appear.

<!> The blue chest is down here as well. Open it up to get the yellow key.
Swim back up, and take the left path. This will spit you back out at the
    very beginning of the stage.

<!> Go back into the labyrinth, and take the bottom path once more. This will
take you back to the yellow chest. Open it to get a purple key. You can
immediately use this on the large lock on your right. Open it, then
    continue into the next area.

[G] Follow the trail of bananas in this passageway to reach the G.

(5) Corkscrew open the barrel chest to the right of the slot barrel for a
    puzzle piece.

(4-BOSS) FUGU FACE-OFF [FGUFO]
 \____/

On this island, you'll be fighting Fugu, the Frightening. The walls are lined
with sharp snail shells, so you won't be able to touch the sides.
Additionally, since this fight occurs underwater, you will need to watch your
air meter. Bubbles will constantly rise up from the bottom of the arena, so
make sure you pick one up every once in a while. He will start off with some
suction which will force you inward, then a blowing attack, which will force
you against the wall. Swim boost and corkscrew in the opposite direction to
avoid this. He will then roll at you (as much as a fish can roll), exposing
his less-spiky backside, which you can corkscrew for a hit. If you need extra
time at this point, he will get dizzy, and kind of spin around for a bit. Once
you hit him, he will do another suction attack, and this time spit some green
fish at you. You can corkscrew the fish to bump them away, or just avoid them.
If you manange to bump one of them back into Fugu, he will take a hit, and be
deflated, which will allow you to hit him anywhere on his body, for an easy
two-hit combo. If you don't get him with a fish, he will use the pressure he
has built up to lunge at you back-first, which will open him up for attack
again. Either way, at this point, he will start rolling around again. After
that, the cycle will restart. Hit him a total of three times to start the next
phase.

In this phase, Fugu will start off with suction again, but this time he will
add urchins to his blowing attack. Once again, try to hit the fish back at him
for a hit, plus follow up with a corkscrew for another free hit. He will then
do a series of roll attacks against you before getting dizzy again. If you
haven't hit him three times yet, he will send a fairly complex assortment of
urchins and fish at you. He will then start rolling around again. The cycle
will restart at this point if you still haven't hit him three times; otherwise,
the final phase will start.

In the third phase, he will start off with two suction attacks in a row,
growing to an enormous size. He will then roll around the outside of the
arena, pausing every once in a while to switch between the top and bottom. If
he makes a long pause like that, immediately switch from top to bottom or vice
versa. He will then do a blowing attack, then use his remainaing pressure to
do a lunge attack, which will open him up for a hit. This time, the lunge will
knock fish and snails around, making the battlefield pretty dangerous. This
will be followed by a roll attack. He will then fire a salvo of urchins at you
with the occasional fish thrown in. Hit him with the one-two if you can, but
make sure you don't hit any urchins. At this point, he will start rolling
around again. This will restart the cycle. Hit him three more times to finish
him off for good.

( 4-K ) SPINNING SPINES [SPSPN]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter this level, you will need to earn a star medal by collecting all
of the KONG letters on a single run on every other stage on this island,
including Rockin' Relics and Shoal Atoll.

<!> Don't be thrown off by the giant spinning stones in the background, these
are no different than any other set of moving platforms.

(1) Continue forward until you reach an urn being guarded by a fish poker pops.
Roll into him when he winds up for an attack to hit him. Do this three
times to take care of him. Ground-pound the urn he was guarding to get a
    puzzle piece.

(2) After a barrel cannon section, wait for the buzzy to come attack you so
that it's out of the way, then roll-jump down the gap ahead to grab the
puzzle piece down there, and get to the other side of the gap safely.

(3) After firing down into the lava area, jump onto the first set platforms
attached to the spinning stone, and get to the top-left corner of the area
    to find a puzzle piece.

(4) After jumping off a couple of hootz ahead, there will be a set of three in
a row. Do a full hop off of the third to reach a puzzle piece over a gap.

(5) Once you start climbing the rotating pillar of platforms ahead, the lava
below will start rising. If you can make it up to the barrel cannons in
time, shoot to the left side to get a puzzle piece. If you were too slow,
the lava will eat up the barrel before you get a chance to fire.

<!> At the top of this barrel cannon section, you will be required to make a
very short trip to the right to claim this island's mysterious relic.

( 5-1 ) HARVEST HAZARDS [HVHZD]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

<!> The first two handles in this stage contain barrels. They don't appear to
do anything important, so use them for whatever you wish.

<!> Just like the yellow bulb plants in Lost Mangroves, the purple flowers here
will produce items when you ground-pound in front of them.

<!> Watch out for the claws on the tree-like platform. When they start to snap
open and closed, they are about to spring downward to grab a spiky fruit.
If one of them hits you, you will take damage.

(1) Just above the first Kong barrel, there is a purple flower. Ground-pound
it to get a puzzle piece.

[K] Immediately after that, there are two bouncy fruit platforms. Bounce left
off of the right-hand one to reach the K.

(2) In the next section, claws will pop out of the holes in the ceiling above.
The last hole, however, will produce a blast barrel instead of a claw. Use
it to blast to a bonus area. Collecting all of the bananas inside will
    result in a puzzle piece.

(3) Bounce off of the bouncelisk up ahead to collect all of the rotating
bananas up above. Once you do so, you will be rewarded with a puzzle
    piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

<!> The wooden platform ahead will roll back and forth depending on which edge
you stand on. The pipes above will drop a total of eight giant banana
bunches, which you can grab if you are running low on lives.

[O] The next few wheeled platforms will fall off the edge if you tilt them for
too long. Let the first one fall off the right side, then jump out of the
gap to the next platform for the O.

<!> The next hanging platform with the climbabale ceiling will also roll back
and forth, just like the previous platforms.

(4) Make your way up to the blast barrel after the climbable rolling platform
to enter a bonus area. Collect all of the bananas inside for a puzzle
    piece.

[N] Continue forward until you reach a rolling platform track that falls away
temporarily. Time your movement so that the platform rolls across the
track right when it comes back up. Continue rolling all the way to the end
to get the N before the platform falls away again.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(5) Immediately above the checkpoint lies a puzzle piece. Ground-pound the box
of grapes to the right to allow the bouncelisk to move past it, then bounce
off its fruit to reach the puzzle piece.

(6) As you continue forward, you will reach a pair of rotating platforms with
grapes attached to the bottom. Jump straight up at the platform's apex to
    collect a puzzle piece.

[G] When you reach a set of moving platforms going to the left, jump across
them all the way, avoiding the falling fruit and claws. Jump under the
next wooden platform ahead to grab the G.

(7) The next rotating platform has an arc of bananas over it. Collect them all
to cause a puzzle piece to appear at the bottom of the platform's path.

( 5-2 ) RECKLESS RIDE [RCKLS]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

(1) Start by heading left into a bonus area. Blast your way to 100 bananas to
    get an early puzzle piece.

<!> Hop into the rocket barrel, and blast off when you're ready!

(2) After the second orange, follow the trail of bananas at the bottom of the
path. Collect them all, and a puzzle piece will appear underneath the
    wooden pipe just ahead.

[K] After the camera pans behind the rocket barrel, dip underneath the brick
path to get the K. You will sacrifice the heart above by doing so.

<!> At this point, a speedy tucks piloting a giant wooden robot will appear.
It telegraphs its attacks fairly readily, just stay away from the same
height as the claws to avoid it.

(3) Immediately after the robot leaves, collect the trail of bananas in the
middle of the screen to earn a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] When the robot knocks down a wooden pipe ahead, fly under it to grab the O.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(4) After the machine slices a few pumpkin-shaped fruit, there are a couple of
fruit rings. Grab the banana bunch in the first, and a puzzle piece will
    appear in the second.

[N] Very soon after that, there are a pair of crushing devices. Keep high
through the first one to set yourself up to grab the N. Once you have it,
dip down to avoid the second one.

<!> Up ahead, stay near the top of the screen, except when the top-most knife
is activated, to grab the life balloon.

[G] The robot will start going absolutely nuts at this point, destroying
everything around it. When it knocks down a water tower, fly through it
    to get the G.

(5) Once your rocket barrel crashes, the robot will crash as well. Jump into
the wreckage with a roll jump from the platform on the right, to find a
barrel cannon, which will take you to a bonus area. Grab all of the
bananas inside for a puzzle piece.

( 5-3 ) FRUITY FACTORY [FCTRY]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

(1) Use the barrel in the first area to take out the chompasaurus just above.
Ground-pound the wooden platform directly below where the chompasaurus was
to reveal a hidden area with a puzzle piece inside.

(2) Blast your way into the factory. Use one of the square watermelons that
fall from above to jump onto the platform with the two tucks on it. Jump
off one of the tucks to get on top of the watermelons before they drop
down. Jump across the melons, all the way to a bonus area on the left.
Collect all of the bananas inside to earn a puzzle piece.

[K] As you make your way through the factory, the K can be found above a hot
hootz along the upper conveyor belt. Jump off the hootz while it's not on
    fire to grab it.

<!> Continue forward until you find a giant drill juicing some melons. Jump
on the platform above the drill while it is lowered to grab onto the
trigger vine to the right. This will disable the giant knife for a short
    time.

(3) Jump to the left off of the second drill while it is raised to find a
hidden area containing a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] Up ahead, fruit platform will appear from the saws below. Jump on them
before they fall back down. The second set of platforms appears in an
unusual pattern. After the third platform, you will need to jump back to
a small platform on the left before continuing forward. The O is above the
    fifth and final platform.

[N] Once you blast from the barrel cannon, a set of grinders will begin to
chase you. The N is below one of the platforms here; swing backward on the
melon below to grab it, then hurry forward to avoid the grinders.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(4) After the checkpoint, cross the conveyor belts to the right, then hook back
along the top path to the very left. Make your way back to the purple
flower, then ground-pound it for a puzzle piece.

{X} On the right side of this path, jump through the wall above the ceiling to
reveal a hidden area with a portal inside. Go through it to find a secret
    exit.

<!> Traverse the big set of drills while they are outstretched to avoid falling
    into the pit below.

[G] In the next section, you will need to jump from one stack of melons to the
next while avoiding the spiky arms. Jump off of a full stack to reach the
    G above.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

<!> Pay attention to the direction of the conveyor belts up ahead; some of them
move in the opposite direction. The third set of knives will chop three
times, so don't jump too early. Grab the handle at the end, and blast down
    into the next section.

<!> In this section, you will need to run from some grinders. Grab the Dixie
barrel, then ground-pound the grape boxes to move forward. Jump from fruit
platform to fruit platform, watching for platforms that move backward. At
the end, there are two handles, both containing giant banana bunches.
Don't dawdle here, though; the grinders are still chasing you.

(5) Once you blast into the next area, you will need to jump on more fruit
platforms while the saws below rise. Once you hear the slot barrel's
activation fanfare, jump to the left-most fruit platform to get a puzzle
    piece.

( 5-4 ) PANICKY PADDLES [PNCPD]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 9

<!> In this stage, you finally get to swim through the fruit juice being
produced on this island. Watch out for the toucan't here; every time you
jump, they will launch themselves into the air; bait them into the air,
then jump on them once they are about to land.

(1) After swimming through the first pool, jump off of the toucan't up ahead to
    the platform suspended above.  Ground-pound it to release a flying banana;
collect all of the items it's leading, and it will turn into a puzzle
    piece.

<!> All of the sliver platforms with the same texture as the platform you just
ground-pounded are also ground-poundable. Use this to your advantage to
    traverse the level.

[K] Just up ahead, there is a moving platform in front of a grater, with the K
below. Ground-pound the platform while you are just above the K to flip
    down to it.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

(2) Jump into the pool below the checkpoint. If you have Cranky with you, you
can cane smack the super snaggles to defeat it; otherwise, you will need to
avoid it. Collect all of the bananas down here to get a puzzle piece.

(3) After swimming through the next pool, there is a set of ground-poundable
platforms with spiky fruit bouncing off of it. Ground-pound one of the
panels to flip down, then pound the platform down here to enter a bonus
area. Get all of the bananas for a puzzle piece.

(4) Continue forward to the next pool of juice, below a grater-platform. Dive
down, then follow the path all the way around, avoiding the spiky fruit
along the way. At the very end, you will find a puzzle piece.

<!> After resurfacing, do not ground-pound the panel just before the
checkpoint, as it leads to a bottomless pit. Checkpoint #2.

[O] The O is just ahead, on a ground-poundable platform above a pit of spikes.
You will need to time it to avoid the spiky fruit, and falling into the pit
    below.

(5) Dive down into the next pool, and avoid the spiky fruit down there. Grab
the four bananas at the bottom, and a puzzle piece will appear.

<!> Resurface, then use the watermelon bombs being thrown at you to blow up the
    wall on the right.

(6) A bit ahead, grab one of the watermelon bombs, then flip down into the area
below. Use the bomb to blow up the wall on the right, revealing a bonus
area. Grab all of the bananas inside to get a puzzle piece.

(7) Dive into the next pool here, and ignore the spinning bananas. Instead,
swim all the way to the bottom where there is a puzzle piece hidden behind
    some grass.

<!> To continue forward, head to the top-right of this area, and pull the
handle to drain the tank of juice, which will lower. You can then continue
past where the tank was to the right.

<!> The bag ahead has a giant banana bunch inside; use the tuff tucks to the
right to open it if you desire.

(8) In the next barrel cannon section, you will need to time your shots so that
the panels are spinning when you pass them; otherwise, you will crash.
Once you reach a shot with a puzzle piece along the path, time your shot so
that the puzzle piece is not spinning in order to pick it up.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

(9) Under the juice, you will need to avoid some giant spiky fruit. Although
the N is along the top path, take the bottom path instead. You should see
a gap in the floor along here; swim down it into a hidden area with a
    puzzle piece inside.

[N] Once you are done traversing the bottom path, swim back around the top
path, grabbing the N along the way. You will want to continue back around
the bottom path, as it is much wider and safer.

<!> There is nothing else of interest under the juice, so continue toward the
right, grabbing bubbles and avoiding spiky fruit as you go.

[G] Once you resurface, climb up the flipping platforms to the very top. The
G is a bit tricky on this stage; I've found that the easiest way to reach
it is to roll-jump past the platform the G is under all the way to the pool
    of juice on the right.

{X} If you can manage to get Dixie all the way to this point in the stage, you
can use her ponytail propeller to dive down into the juice, past the
current, and into the portal below. You will find a secret exit through
    there.

<!> Once you perform a few barrel blasts, you will reach the slot barrel.
Simply, ground-pound through the floor to reach it.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

(1) Right at the start, you should be able to see a puzzle piece encased in
jelly to the left. Roll into the jelly block to release it.

<!> As you continue forward, you will be bouncing off of jelly blocks, some of
which have items and bombs inside. To get the items out, you must to a
full hop off of an adjacent block. Doing so on the block with the item
will not release it. Additionally, green jelly blocks will afford more
height than the purple ones do.

(2) Before passing under the first set of spikes here, jump up to the wall
above, and grab onto the climbable surface. Climb to the top, then
ground-pound the purple flower to get a puzzle piece.

[K] The K is along the path of the first barrel cannon. Time the shot to pick
up the K. The easiest time to do this is when both the barrel and the K
are at the left-most point of their respective paths.

<!> In the next area, the blue jelly blocks contain switches. Jump on the blue
blocks to activate or deactivate the switches.

[O] Hit the second blue jelly block until the higher of the two jelly blocks
ahead is facing forward. Jump to the left off of this block to reach the
    O.

(3) Just ahead, there is a puffton with a blast barrel underneath. Jump in to
reach a bonus area. Grab all of the bananas here to get a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[N] Bounce to the left after reaching the checkpoint to find the N.

(4) Keep continuing forward until reaching a pair of blue jelly blocks. Hit
the first block until the second one is facing forward, then hit that one
until the green jelly block becomes available. Full hop off of that block
up to the right to find a puzzle piece.

<!> After blasting yourself into a mound of jelly blocks, pound your way out
    to reach checkpoint #2.

(5) As you continue forward, two sets of bananas will appear above the jelly.
Collect all of the bananas in both sets, and puzzle piece will appear in
    the middle.

[G] Continue forward until you reach a vine. On the other side, the G is
within the left-hand jelly block. Do a full hop off of the right block to
    release it.

(6) Grab the tuff tucks just ahead, then use it to pop open the bag to the
    right for a puzzle piece.

(7) After jumping to a wooden platform with a purple flower hanging off the
bottom, ground-pound the platform itself to get a puzzle piece from the
    flower.

<!> Once you reach the slot barrel, wait for the jelly blocks to move to the
background before firing in order to hit the barrel.

( 5-6 ) FROSTY FRUITS [FRSTF]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> Despite the fact that the word "Freeze" is in the title of this game, this
is actually the first ice level. The typical ice-based "slippery physics"
are in full force here, so make sure you watch your speed at all times.
You will need to use this several times throughout this stage to slide
    underneath spikes and such.

(1) Continue all the way until you see a bunch of frozen juice cubes being
dropped in a stack. Just past that, ground-pound the ice cubes in the
middle of the platform to drop into a bonus area. Collect all of the
bananas inside for a puzzle piece.

[K] Just ahead, slide under the moving set of spikes, then use the bouncy fruit
to jump up to the left, on top of the platform, where you can reach the K.

(2) After being launched to the right by the bouncy fruit, duck under the
spikes, then ground-pound the ice block containin a handle. Pull on the
handle to release a flying banana, then collect all of the following
    bananas for a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] The popsicle platforms in the background will slowly slip off of their
sticks before plummeting into the pit below. To get the O here, slide down
the second popsicle, then jump up to the third one before it falls off.

(3) Grab onto the trigger vine up above to summon a popsicle platform. Slide
down it, then roll into the hidden area beneath the next platform, where
you will find a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

[N] In the next area, you will slide around while collecting bananas and being
bounced around by bouncy fruit. When you go between the stacks of frozen
juice blocks, stop, and bounce off of the hootz at the height of its path
    to reach the N.

(4) After heading under the corridor of spikes, don't ground-pound the bouncy
fruit here. Instead, jump through the wall where the lantern is, then
drop into the barrel cannon just below. Fire when you are directly under
the puzzle piece to pick it up, then head back through the wall.

[G] In the next section with a large amount of spikes hanging from the ceiling,
run through while the spikes are retracted, then jump over the gap to grab
    the G.

(5) Climb the stacks of juice blocks to reach the slot barrel, but instead of
hitting it, roll-jump past it to the platform barely visible on the right.
Drop down the hole to grab the puzzle piece, then bounce back up to reach
    the slot barrel again.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

<!> To enter this level, you will need to have found the secret exit in Fruity
    Factory.

(1) If you don't have Cranky on you, either buy a Cranky barrel at the shop, or
go to another level to pick him up. Once you do, cane pogo to the left to
reach a trigger vine. Collect all of the bananas that appear to get a
    puzzle piece.

<!> Continue to the right by jumping from climbable surface to climbable
surface when they approach each other. Ascend the platforms that are
slowly dropping through the honey, the ground-pound the wooden floor to
    drop through.

[K] The K is at the top of the first climbable surface after this point. Jump
to it while it's at the apex of its trajectory to easily grab it.

(2) Jump left from the top of the second climbable surface here to find a bonus
area. Get all of the bananas inside to earn a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

<!> Jump to the next climbable surface to start it swinging. At the other end,
jump off to the next platform.

(3) After re-entering the hive, jump up to the climbable ceiling, then follow
it to the left for a puzzle piece.

[O] To get the O, jump down to the platform with the boom bird, use the bomb to
defeat the chomp, then roll-jump across the gap.

<!> Blast to checkpoint #2.

(4) Climb the wall to the left all the way up to find a bonus area. Grab all
of the bananas inside for a puzzle piece.

<!> Grab onto the fuzzy fruit the buzzies are carrying to cross the gap.
Ground-pound to make the buzzy fly higher to avoid obstacles.

(5) Once on the other side of the gap, run through the low wall underneath the
Kong barrel to reveal a hidden area with a puzzle piece.

[N] The N is in the middle of the next large gap. Grab onto the fruit, then
fly the buzzy using ground-pounds in order to grab the N.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

(6) Grab onto the climbable surface up ahead, and it will start swinging. Let
it swing all the way to the right. There is a barrel cannon over here; the
easiest way to get here to to do a normal jump off the top of the swinging
surface. After a few barrel blasts, you will have collected a puzzle
    piece.

(7) Once back on the swinging surface, jump to the next surface in the middle
of the path, then up again to another swinging platform. Swing all the way
to the left, then ground-pound the purple flower over here. Collect the
bananas that pop out to earn a puzzle piece.

<!> Jump back to the swinging surface, then wait for it to swing right. Jump
to the next surface, and it will snap off of its tether, bouncing around
across some spiky platforms. Be sure to position yourself so that you
aren't at the bottom of the surface when it hits.

[G] Once at the end, the surface will stick to the river of honey, giving you a
little bit of time to position yourself and jump off. The G is in the gap
between the two surfaces. Jump between them to grab it.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter this level, you will need to have found the secret exit in Panicky
    Paddles.

(1) Start to the right. Continue forward until you reach a bouncelisk. Jump
off of it to collect the rotating rings of bananas up above, and a puzzle
    piece will appear.

[K] The K is high above a platform just after the crushers up ahead. Jump off
one of the archy's fish to grab it.

(2) Use the same tactic to reach the platform on the left with the purple
    flower on it.  The right-most crusher here has a climblable surface on it;
grab onto it to reach a bonus area. Get all of the bananas here for a
    puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] Continue forward until you reach the next Kong barrel. Take the bottom
path across the spikes to get the O, but watch the spiky fruit dispenser
here: Once three spiky fruit stack up, they will be let out into the
foreground, and if you are standing on the platform below the O, you will
    get hit.

<!> Jump into the barrel cannon ahead, and hit the snowflake button to send the
wall crashing down, allowing you to continue forward.

[N] Blast up to the N at the end of this sequence, but make sure that the
platform below the N is exposed, or you'll end up falling into oblivion.

(3) Climb to the top of the vine just ahead, and jump through the small gap in
the right wall to access a bonus area. Collect all of the bananas inside
    for a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(4) In the next section, climb and jump your way to the right, avoiding the
lemmingtons. Don't be afraid to jump on a platform multiple times to time
your jumps correctly. Once you make it all the way to the right, use the
bouncelisk to get on top of the climbable ceilings, and start heading left.
Ground-pound the purple flower at the end to get a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #3 is just after a barrel cannon segment.

(5) Grab the handle underneath the set of three functional crushers to get a
watermelon bomb. Toss it at the broken crusher, and it will produce a
    puzzle piece.

[G] Use the barrel cannons to make your way to the right, blasting from barrel
to barrel. The G is in the air in the middle of this section; since the
barrels move to the left automatically, you will have as many tries at this
    one as you need.

(5-BOSS) PUNCH BOWL [PCHBL]
 \____/

All of the juice on this island flows down here, being made into popsicles for
the island's boss, Bashmaster, the Unbreakable. This big, bad polar bear will
start off by hitting you with his giant hammer; unfortunately for him, this
requires a giant wind-up, which easily telegraphs the attack. Back away, and
he will hit the ground. Jump on top of the hammer's blunt end, then pop him in
the head to score a hit. He will then jump into the air, and land on the
platform with a giant thud, knocking you toward him. Eventually, he will land
on one of the sides of the platform. Once there, he will kick a few ice blocks
at you. Dodge them or collect the items inside: it's up to you. One of them,
however, will contain a watermelon bomb, which you can throw at him to score
another hit. If you decide not to use the bomb, he will do the hammer attack
again, otherwise he will start again with the jumping portion. Either way,
once you hit him three times, the fight will move into phase two.

Bashmaster will knock ice blocks down from the ceiling, which you will need to
jump on in order to jump over him as he slides all the way across the platform.
Once on the other side, he will be stunned, allowing you to score a jump attack
on him. At this point, he will start doing the jump attacks again, but this
time, with the added effect of sending out an ice shockwave which you will have
to jump over. Once he has done this three times, we will do another sliding
attack with the ice blocks, except it will take him two slides before becoming
stunned. The whole thing will start again at this point, except he will slide
three times before becoming stunned. Once you hit him a third time, the fight
will move into the final phase.

The first attack of this phase is a ice block kicking attack, but this time,
the ice blocks will be stacked up to four blocks high, making it harder to jump
over as well as hit him with the bomb. After that, he will do a similar
attack, hitting ice blocks at you with his hammer. This turns the ice blocks
into spiky ice bullets which move really fast, so watch out. He may do a trick
attack, where he stops right before hitting it, in which case we will swing at
it a second time. If he does that, the bullet will move much more slowly, so
be aware. Once he is done with that, he will slam his hammer into the ground,
sending out an ice shockwave. This is an opportunity to hit him, but is very
brief, so stay on your toes. At this point, he will do another block kicking
attack, followed by the hammer attack, followed by a mixture of the block
kicking and ice bullet attack, and will start the cycle over after that. Once
you have hit him three more times, Bashmaster will be down for the count.

( 5-K ) PLATFORM PROBLEMS [PFPBM]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter this level, you will need to earn a star medal by collecting all
of the KONG letters on a single run on every other stage on this island,
including Beehive Brawl and Jammin' Jams.

<!> Taking a page out of Mega Man's book, this stage features platforms that
move along paths, except they will be flipped vertically if the section of
track they are moving along isn't lit up. Look for the bright orange
pieces of track; those are safe. Platforms which are on dull, gray tracks
will start quickly falling immediately after you jump on them, so be quick
when crossing them. The platforms on the silver tracks quickly move back
    and forth.

(1) After crossing the first set of falling platforms, there is a track hanging
from the ceiling with five bananas above it. Collect all five, and a
puzzle piece will appear on the right.

<!> After the section with the spikes, the nearby urn will contain a pattern of
bananas. If you collect them all, it should give you a heart, so take
advantage of that if you are hurt.

(2) Continue through the next section of falling platforms. Jump off the three
hootz at the end, then continue up the next track. From here, roll-jump to
the wall on the left, and it will open, revealing a hidden puzzle piece.

(3) Jump on the normal hootz between the blue hootz, past the spiky wall. Get
to the top-left platform, then jump into the gap in the wall to get a
puzzle piece. (You may want to wait for the banana counter to go away, as
it tends to get in the way on this one.)

<!> Make your way up the set of four orange-track platforms, making sure you
jump to the appropriate platform when one is about to turn sideways. Use
the hootz to stay in the air longer when none of the platforms are active.

(4) At the end of this section, you have the option of staying on the platform,
or jumping off a set of three hootz on the left. If you take the hootz
route, you will pick up a puzzle piece along the way.

(5) After the next set of falling platforms, there are three hootz in between
blue hootz. If you can pick up all of the coins above, a puzzle piece will
    appear at the end.

<!> After one final platform, you will have your hands on a mysterious relic.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> Each level on this island is based off of one of the worlds from Donkey
Kong Country Returns, this one being the Jungle world. The hanging ice
platforms will break after being jumped on twice, so make sure you don't
get too greedy with the items above.

<!> The barrel cannons near the beginning aren't too hard to time, just make
sure you don't wait too long to fire, or they will end up plummetting into
    the abyss below.

(1) After the last barrel cannon, before sliding down the icy slope, look to
the left to find a barrel cannon hiding at the bottom of the screen. Jump
in to blast to a bonus area. Collect all of the bananas inside for a
    puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[K] From the checkpoint, roll-jump to the hootz on the right, and jump off of
it to get the K above.

<!> Once you blast into the ice cave, roll into the metal pillar to the right,
and the ceiling will start to cave in. Quickly make your way to the right
and grab onto the climbable wall all the way on the right.

(2) The climbable wall will also start to fall away, so quickly climb down to
the bottom to get a puzzle piece, then up to the next platform.

[O] After making it up to the other side of the ice wall, the O will be sitting
in a gap below. Jump off of the hootz, then down into the barrel cannon
below to reach it. You will need to dodge the flaming fish when you blast
    out.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> Slide down the climbable wall on the right to open up the next area. To
access it, you will need to quickly jump to the wall on the left, then
through the new opening to the right.

(3) Jump off of the harey in this area to reach the climbable ceiling. Climb
your way to the top to find a treasure chest. Open it with a ground-pound
to claim the puzzle piece inside.

[N] After a fairly epic barrel cannon shot, you will see the N ahead, looking
pretty easily-collectible. Don't be fooled; as you approach that side of
the platform, the right side will fall down, restricting your access to the
alcove with the N. Jump ahead of time to reach it.

(4) All of the platforms and climbable walls in the next area will start to
fall when you touch them. Look for a wooden section of wall on the right
side. Jump through it to find a hidden puzzle piece.

[G] The G is underneath an unstable platform at the top of the shaft here.
Roll-jump under the platform to grab the G, then to the climbable wall on
the right. It's a tough jump to make, so you will need to time it well.

<!> As you grab onto each climbable wall, climb to the top before it rotates
downward, such that you are at the bottom after it rotates. This will give
you the best positioning to jump to the next one. When you reach the wall
with spikes on the other side, though, you will want to be at the top.
Wait for it to fall all the way down, and it will land on a platform with
an enemy. At that point, jump off to a nearby platform.

(5) On this set of two platforms, get all eight banana bunches, and puzzle
piece, along with a barrel cannon, will appear directly underneath the slot
    barrel.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> This level is based off of the Beach world, and, as such, no swimming is
allowed here. If you do hit the water, you will lose one heart, and be
thrown back to the last platform you were on.

[K] The K is overhead near the beginning of the stage. Jump off of one of the
    archy's fish to grab it.

(1) Once you reach a wrecked ship, use the handle to pull the ship out of the
water. Then, ground-pound your way through the wooden panels in the middle
to reach the puzzle piece. Make your way back up before the ship sinks
    back into the frigid water.

(2) On the next platform, take out the big Sphen at the right, then
ground-pound the bulb plant in the middle to release a barrel cannon. Jump
in to blast to a bonus area full of icy platforms. Get all 100 bananas
inside to earn a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] On the ship platform up ahead, the handles will all cause the ship to rise
out of the water. Use the time before it sinks again to grab the O in
    between the four blue hootz.

<!> The handle right after this will cause the platform you are on to rise, and
the platform that the big Sphen is on to sink. Time it so that the ice
fish aren't near you when you pull on the handle to continue forward.

(3) On the platform with the tuff fluff, collect all of the bananas above to
cause a puzzle piece to appear.

[N] The N is along the path of a vine just ahead. Climb up the vine to the N
while the vine is swinging toward the left to safely pass under the blue
    hootz.

(4) Use the watermelon bombs to take out the chum chucker Charlie, then
ground-pound the cracked ice block to its right. Fall down, then walk
right into a bonus area. Grab all of the spinning bananas for a puzzle
    piece.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

[G] The G is visible right over the water, underneath a wooden platform ahead.
Use the handle on the right to raise the entire platform, then go back to
the left to grab the G.

<!> The next ship platform will roll along the water, so jump from platform to
platform, throwing away any bombs that might be in your way.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

(5) Before continuing through the cracked ice blocks after the next handle,
jump off of the fluff while it is in midair to reach the bulb plant on top
of the wall to the right. Ground-pound it for a puzzle piece.

<!> In the next section, sheets of ice will smash the platforms you are on, so
you will need to move quickly. Once you are in the barrel cannon at the
end, you will need to wait for the first sheet of ice to fall before
    blasting to the slot barrel.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> This stage is based off of the Ruins world. Most of the platforms here
will begin to break and fall away once you step on them, so keep moving
    forward here.

(1) After the first puffton near the beginning, wait for the frozen aqeuduct
platform to fall to the left, leaving two support stones that you can jump
on. A barrel cannon will appear above the left one, and lead you to a
bonus area. Collect all of the bananas here to get a puzzle piece.

[K] The K is underneath the next aqueduct platform. Wait for it to fall to the
right, then jump to the barrel cannon to grab it.

[O] The O will appear above the hootz after the icy slide. Jump straight up
off of the hootz to reach it.

(2) After the bouncy flower, use the archy's fish to grab all of the spinning
bananas above to earn a puzzle piece.

(3) Immediately after the Diddy barrel, there is a shield blocking a hidden
area on the other side of the wall. Grab the tuff tucks up ahead, and toss
it at the shield to break it, then go inside to find a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint.

(4) Before jumping into the barrel cannon on the right, roll-jump further to
the right to find a puzzle piece, and a blast barrel.

[N] Once in the background, ride the giant ice blocks to collect the overhead
items. The second such ice block will allow access to the N.

(5) The very same ice block hides another secret. Behind its starting point is
a bulb plant. Backtrack, and ground-pound it to get a puzzle piece.

[G] The entire stage will start to crumble at this point. Quickly make your
way to the right, to the first blast barrel. This will put you on a
platform with the G. A simple jump will reach it, but you will need to
hurry on to the next blast barrel.

(1) Right at the start, there is a cannon shooting snowballs at a platform with
a handle. Pull on that handle for a puzzle piece.

(2) Grab the Kong barrel ahead, and bring it all the way back to the begninning
of the stage. Throw it at the shield on the left-most wall to break it
open, revealing a bonus area. Get all of the bananas for a puzzle piece.

<!> Once you have both puzzle pieces, you're ready for blast-off!

(3) After the first long dip downward, there are two quickly-rotating circles
of bananas. Follow each circle in the opposite direction it's spinning
(kind of like an S turned 90 degrees clockwise) to get them all, and a
puzzle piece will appear in the middle of the path ahead.

[K] Soon after, the K will be near bottom of the cave.

(4) After a snowball cannon, the path will descend further into the cave. A
trail of bananas will begin to make its way upward. Collect all of them,
and a puzzle piece will appear at the top of the path.

<!> Checkpoint #1. As a fun nod to Donkey Kong Country Returns, you can see
the mega squeekly from that game frozen in the background.

[O] Up ahead, there is a set of three snowball cannons. The O is in the middle
of a line of bananas past the third.

<!> Ahead, giant snowballs will pop items out of the ground. During the third,
maneuver between the top two snowballs to get the life balloon.

(5) After the third snowball, a trail of bananas will lead you upward. Grab
the whole set to earn a puzzle piece.

[N] Just ahead, the N will be in between two stalactites at the top of the
    cave.

(6) In the next section, giant snowballs in the background will knock items and
smaller snowballs out of the ground. Weave through the snowballs,
collecting all of the items, and a puzzle piece will appear ahead.

[G] Trails of bananas will snake through the passageways here. The last of
them will have the G in it.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> At this point, you will blast yourself into a giant snowball (which the
game apparently considers a mine cart). While inside, you will break
through pretty much everything you hit, including wooden floors. Make sure
you jump at the appropriate times to reach the slot barrel.

(7) Once at the slot barrel, jump over to the barely-visible platform on the
right. Ground-pound through the wooden panel to enter a bonus area.
Bounce your way to 100 bananas to earn a puzzle piece.

( 6-5 ) FOREST FOLLY [FSTFL]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> This level is based off of the Forest world. As such, you will be spending
a lot of your time on vines. You will also be dealing with springy
platforms (including springy climbable surfaces), and giant deadly
    snowflakes.

(1) Ground-pound the first bulb plant you come to, then collect the bananas
that pop out, and a puzzle piece will appear.

[K] Make your way back up to the top path by ground-pounding the spring
platform on the left. The K is just a jump away to the right.

<!> Up ahead, you will need to bounce from climbable surface to climbable
    surface by ground-pounding them.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] As you continue forward, you will make your way to a giant, rolling
climbable surface. Stay on the front side of it to collect the items,
including the O just above the track. This is much harder than it looks.

(2) After jumping up to the platform above, spring to the left off of the next
climbable surface to reach the caged barrel cannon. Use it to blast your
    way to a bonus area.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(3) Just ahead is a set of three vines. Collect all of the bananas across the
vines, and a puzzle piece will appear at the bottom of the middle vine.

[N] Continue all the way forward to the end of this section. Past the chum
chucker Charlie, you will need to jump off the vine, off the hootz to
the climbable platform to the right. Spring to the next platform when the
blue hootz has passed, then wait for the N to pop up before springing to
    the barrel cannon.

(4) Up ahead, you will be tasked with blasting your way between a steady stream
of snowflakes. Once you can see four barrels at once, wait for a puzzle
piece to appear between the snowflakes. It should be possible to reach it
on any shot, but the last one is the easiest, since the barrel doesn't
    move.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

(5) After taking care of the fish poker pops, ground-pound the nearby basket of
fish to release a flying banana. Grab all of the items following it, and
it will turn into a puzzle piece.

[G] Once you reach the section with the wooden platforms, enormous snowflakes
will start to fall, crushing the platforms as you cross them. You will see
the G ahead; roll-jump underneath the platform to claim it.

<!> Blast to the rolling climbable surface and avoid the snowflake on the way
down to reach the slot barrel.

( 6-6 ) CLIFFSIDE SLIDE [CLFSD]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> This level is based off of the Cliff world, and is a sillhouette level.
You will be crossing many shifting, or even sinking, platforms as you make
your way up against an avalanche.

(1) Head over the set of platforms at the beginning, then walk underneath the
bottom platform from the right side to enter a hidden area with a puzzle
    piece.

[K] After blasting to the set of shifting platforms, jump off one of the
penguins just ahead to grab the K overhead.

<!> Continue to quickly make your way forward, as some of the platforms here
will sink into the avalanche below. Continue all the way to the end of
this section to blast to checkpoint #1.

(2) After the Kong barrel, make your way up to the big Sphen, defeat it, and
walk into the wall just to its left. Pull the handle in the hidden area
here to reveal a puzzle piece.

[O] There is another big Sphen up ahead. Use one of its fish to bounce up to
the O, and, if you want, you can jump into the hidden area on either side
    for a cache of bananas.

(3) Make your way across another set of shifting platforms, to a climbable
ceiling. Jump to the bouncy flower, then bounce up to the left to get on
top of the climbable ceiling. Ground-pound the bulb plant here for a
    puzzle piece.

[N] As you continue, you will come across a section with vines. The N is above
a puffton here; simply do a full hop off of the puffton to grab it.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(4) Head toward the Kong barrel on the right, then jump off of the hot hootz
into a hidden area on the left. Ground-pound the bulb flower inside to
    release a puzzle piece.

<!> In the next section, platforms will shift in and out of position as you
make your way upward. The platforms are unstable, and will begin to break
apart when you step on them, so make sure to keep moving.

(5) Ground-pound the first bulb plant you see on a platform on the left side to
get a puzzle piece. Hurry back toward the right before the platform
    disintegrates.

[G] On the very next platform, there is an archy with the G above its head.
Jump off the archy to reach it, then head into the barrel cannon on the
    left.

<!> Continue to make your way upward, jumping off enemies where appropriate,
and blast your way up to the mountintop. Pull the handle at the top to
    reveal the slot barrel.

( 6-7 ) FROZEN FRENZY [FRNZY]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> This level is based off of the Factory world, and features many moving
and electrified platforms and trigger vines.

<!> To start off, head to the right, and ground-pound the bulb plant to release
a barrel cannon. Blast to the background, and grab the trigger vine to
open the panels containing the DK plate, and create another barrel cannon.

(1) Blast back into the foreground, jump down to the DK plate, and roll left
to collect a partially hidden puzzle piece. The platforms underneath the
puzzle piece will break after you stand on them, so jump back up quickly.

<!> Ground-pound the DK plate three times to restore power to the factory, and
    open the way forward.

[K] The K is just ahead; jump off of the hootz here to grab it.

<!> Many of the platforms in this segment have conductive bulbs on the bottom
of them. When they come into contact with the purple electroids, the
entire platform will become electrified, so make sure you aren't standing
    on them when this happens.

(2) Just after the electrified vine, there is an ice platform with electroids
moving back and forth across it. Ground-pound the panel in the middle to
fall into a bonus area. Grab all of the bananas inside for a puzzle piece.

[O] The O is above a gap ahead. Jump over the electroids while they are in the
    lowest position to avoid them.

<!> Just before the checkpoint, there is a platform that will tilt due to
weight. Don't let either side of the platform touch the electroids
underneath, or you'll receive a shock.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

(3) Along the second moving platform, there is a row of bananas. Pick them all
up to receive a puzzle piece.

(4) After the next tilting platform, there is a blast barrel barely visible at
the bottom of the screen. Jump in to reach a bonus area. One hundred
bananas will earn you a puzzle piece.

<!> Pull on the handle ahead to open the circuit, de-electrifying the platforms
ahead. This effect is temporary, so cross quickly to the other side.

(5) After the set of three rotating sets of electroids, jump to the set of
vines on the right. When you grab onto the right-most vine here, it will
lower into the electroid below, electrifying it. Before that happens,
climb up above the electroids on the left, then jump back to the left vine.
Jump to the climbable wall on the left, and climb up to reveal a hidden
area with a puzzle piece, above the vines.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

[N] The N is high above the platforms here. Jump off of the waldough, then off
of the hootz to reach it.

{X} After climbing the next set of vines, use Cranky's cane pogo to jump to
the platform above the vines, then across the spiky platforms to the left.
This will lead to a portal and a secret exit.

[G] The G is just ahead of the aforementioned vines. The ice platforms below
are fragile, so be quick. Jump off of the penguin tucks here to reach the
    G.

<!> Ahead, wait for the platform to break before the electroids, and drop to
the bottom path. Quickly make your way to the right before the platforms
    break entirely.

( 6-8 ) MELTDOWN MAYHEM [MLTDN]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> This level is based off of the Volcano world. Apparently ice and lava
coexist here. Be careful not to slide into the magma!

(1) Ground-pound the DK plate to bust through the icy facade of this level,
revealing its true colors (red and orange, that is). Once you have done
so, head back to the left, through the now-busted door, into a bonus area.
Grab all of the bananas littered about inside to earn a puzzle piece.

<!> Ground-pound the second cracked ice block to activate a geyser underneath,
allowing you to access the Rambi crate. Be careful around the lava; Rambi
    hates the stuff.

<!> Have Rambi bust through the shields ahead to move forward. Next, knock the
giant snowball into the lava, the cross over the cooled rock before it
    melts again.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[K] Continue to quickly make your way through the stage to the right. The K is
above one of the ice blocks; a simple jump will reach it.

[O] As you make your way ahead, the O will be at the end of a trail of bananas.

(2) After busting through the next Rambi block, a group of bananas will appear
above the next ice block. Grab all of them, and a puzzle piece will appear
    on the next platform.

<!> After a barrel cannon section, you will reach checkpoint #2.

(3) Break through the first shield here, then ground-pound the bulb plant on
the other side for a puzzle piece.

(4) You will come across another Rambi crate ahead. There is a hidden area
inside the large platform with a blue shield in the middle; charge to the
right off of the icy platform on the left for a puzzle piece.

(5) Knock the large snowball into the lava to create a path. Wait for the lava
geysers to launch the rocks into the air, then collect all of the bananas
here to cause a puzzle piece to appear above the next platform.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

<!> Wait for the large icy wall to drop down into the lava before continuing to
the right; you'll bounce right off the side of it if you go too quickly.

<!> Just after the puffton is a icy platform hanging from the ceiling. Break
through the shield with Rambi, then ride the platform down the lavafall to
    the next platform.

[N] The N is below an icy platform just ahead. Jump on the platform, and it
will start to break. When it does, grab the N, then bounce off of the
hootz into the barrel cannon on the right. Wait for the stalagmites to
    drop before firing.

[G] In the next section, you will need to outrun an incoming wall of lava. The
G is pretty clearly visible in the air after a trail of bananas. Jump to
    grab it.

<!> Continue to run all the way to the right to the blast barrel, which will
shoot you to the slot barrel.

( 6-A ) DYNAMITE DASH [DYNMT]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter this level, you will need to have found the secret exit in Frozen
    Frenzy.

<!> As the name of this level suggests, it is rife with dynamite. Step on the
large plungers to detonate it. Hanging, climbable plungers can be
detonated by ground-pounding them. Some plungers will detonate more than
one set of dynamite, so make sure you look at the connected wires before
    blowing anything up.

(1) Near a "no tie" sign, there is a set of two plunger platforms with some
bananas and coins above them. Grab all of the items before the platforms
explode, and a puzzle piece will appear to the right.

[K] The K is in between some moving plunger platforms ahead. Try to time your
jump such that the K is at its highest point.

(2) Just after a blue hootz, the path splits into two. Take the top path,
without touching the bottom platform at all. Drop down to the right, grab
the barrel, and jump back to the icy platform to the left. Throw it at the
plunger here, and grab all of the bananas that pop out. This will cause a
trail of bananas to appear to the left. Follow them to a completely hidden
blast barrel, which will take you to a bonus area. Grab all of these
bananas for a well-deserved puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1. If for any reason, you mess up on collecting the previous
puzzle piece, everything will reset if you lose a life after passing this
checkpoint, so you can try it all again.

(3) Continue to the right. Once you reach a rotating circular climbable
surface, collect all four bananas underneath to get a puzzle piece.

<!> In the next barrel cannon section, you will need to beat out the dynamite
fuses as you travel to the right. Be quick, but precise with your shots.

[O] The O is along one of the shots near the end of this section. Wait until
all of the bananas line up to shoot.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

(4) After outrunning a series of fuses, there is a cracked ice block near a
bulb plant. Ground-pound the ice block, then the floor directly underneath
to access a bonus area. Pick up all of the bananas here to get a puzzle
    piece.

(5) Zip-line to the next set of fuses. At the end of the line here, you will
need to wait for the stalactite to blow up before continuing on. Instead
of jumping through the hole at the end, land on the stalactite when it hits
the bottom of the screen, then walk through the wall on the right to reveal
a hidden area. Pull on the handle inside for a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

[N] In the next section, the path splits between a icy floor, and a climabable
ceiling. After the bouncy flower, stick to the ceiling to get the N. Make
sure to wait for the next set of platforms to drop down before cointinuing
    onward.

[G] After this, you will be zip-lining away from a giant explosion. Watch for
breaks in the path caused by falling debris. The G can be found after one
such break. Don't jump at all; slide right off the end of the zip-line,
and you will slide right onto the next one, picking up the G along the way.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 7

<!> To enter this level, you will need to unlock and complete Dynamite Dash.

<!> You'll need to keep looking up in this level, as icicles will constantly
fall on you throughout the course of the level. Get started to the right,
and roll into the frozen bridge twice to knock it over.

[K] The K is just ahead. Dodge the icicles, then jump to the lower platform to
    claim it.

(1) Pull the handle on the wooden panel, and an air blast will lift it into the
air. Climb the climbable ceiling all the way to the left, the ground-pound
the bulb plant to receive a puzzle piece.

<!> Head back toward the right, and ground-pound next to the stalactite here to
cause it to fall down, creating a platform.

(2) Grab the Kong barrel and toss it at the bag just ahead to release a pattern
of bananas. Collect them all for a puzzle piece.

(3) Take out the fish poker pops beneath the climbable ceiling, then pull on
the handle, and out comes a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #1.

[O] The O is along the last shot in the barrel cannon section ahead. Wait for
it to pop out before firing.

(4) Ground-pound both of the cracked ice blocks ahead to cause platforms to
sink down from the ceiling. Jump up to the climbable ceiling to the left,
    the climb that up to a barrel cannon.  Use it to blast to a bonus area;
grab all 100 bananas to earn a puzzle piece.

(5) Just ahead, grab the handle on the wooden panel to cause it to rise. Jump
through the wall on the left to access a hidden area. Grab the circle of
bananas, and a puzzle piece will appear.

[N] Continue forward, past a climbable ceiling. The N is above a set of two
hootz. Use the bottom hootz to get to the platform on the right, then jump
off of the top hootz from there to get the N.

(6) Pull on the handle up ahead to make all three wooden panels rise. Jump
onto the right-most one, up to the climbable ceiling above. Ground-pound
the bulb plant to reveal a barrel cannon, leading to a bonus area. Grab
all of the bananas inside for a puzzle piece.

<!> Checkpoint #2.

<!> Roll into the stack of boxes twice to knock it over, opening the path
forward. Do the same for the next frozen rock in the way.

<!> Checkpoint #3.

(7) Jump across the gap with the soaries, then jump onto the climbable ceiling
ahead. Follow it up and around, and keep climbing as it falls down. At
the very top lies a puzzle piece. Grab it, then jump over to the next
    climbable surface.

[G] Blast to the background ahead. The G is high above the barrel cannon
section. To grab it, blast up out of the first upward-pointing barrel,
following the trail of bananas to the next barrel. Immediately fire back
toward the left to grab the G, and land in the previous barrel. Then,
immediately fire back into the next barrel to continue forward.

(6-BOSS) VOLCANO DOME [VLCNO]
 \____/

It all comes down to this. Grab your favorite partner Kong, and head into the
cavern on the right. This time, you will be facing off with none other than
Lord Fredrik, the Snowmad King. He will start off by blowing his horn, which
will cause six spiky ice balls to rain down from the ceiling, one in the center
of each platform segment. Dodge them, and a few of them will turn into tuff
tucks. Grab one, and hurl it back at him (you will automatically throw into
the background during this segment) when he stops to adjust his helmet to get
him to move to the foreground. He will then charge at you with his icy helmet.
Jump onto him during this to score a hit. You may be able to get him more than
once during this segment, as he will always charge three times. After this, he
will jump around for a bit, causing the sections of rock underneath him to fall
into the lava. Roll under him when he jumps, and head for a safe platform. He
will then go back into the background, starting the cycle over. Hit him with
three jump attacks (hitting him with enemies doesn't count) to move the fight
into phase two.

Fredrik will start off with more jumping, but this time he can jump further.
He will jump into the background, and launch eight ice dragons at the platform.
Watch for ice shards from the top of the screen to find out where to dodge.
This will cause the platform to ice over. After these are done, he will launch
more spiky ice balls, but this time there will only be five, spread evenly
along the platform. Pay attention to the top of the screen to find out where
they will fall. Grab a tucks or fluff and throw it back at him to cause him to
come forward. He will then charge three more times; try to hit him all three
times. If you don't, he will jump around again, and then head back into the
background for more ice dragons, starting the cycle again. Hit him with three
more jump attacks to enter the final phase.

To start this phase, he will jump all the way across the arena, launching the
other sections of platform into the air with lava geysers. The geysers will
dissipate, and the platforms will plummet into the lava, so make sure you are
not stading on a suspended platform. Jump down to the platforms that have
already fallen for safety. After this, he will move into the background,
summoning ten ice dragons. Dodge them, and he will shoot more ice balls at
you, using the six ice-ball formation from the first phase. When he launches
more "tuff" enemies at you, toss one of them back at him to lure him back to
the foreground. At this point, three more charging attacks will ensue, but
this time they are much faster, so stay alert. If you can't hit him all three
times, he launch the platforms into the air again. After this, though, he will
launch dragons directly out of his horn toward you. This can happen one of two
ways. If he takes a really long breath, he will shoot a single ice dragon at
you at an extremely high velocity. Jump as soon as he blows on the horn to
dodge. If he doesn't take a long breath, he will shoot a bunch of dragons at
you. Jump over the ones with the curled wings, and duck under the ones with
wings outstretched. He will then charge again. If you still haven't hit him
another three times, he will start over again from the background. Once you
hit him three last times, prepare yourself for an incredibly cheesy outro
sequence. You will also earn a mysterious relic for your efforts.

( 6-K ) SLIPPY SPIKES [SPSPK]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter this level, you will need to earn a star medal by collecting all
of the KONG letters on a single run on every other stage on this island,
including Dynamite Dash and Icicle Arsenal.

<!> Seeing as how this level's floor and ceiling are totally covered in spikes,
your best bet is to take Cranky from the Kong barrel at the beginning of
the stage. Even so, this is a very difficult stage; don't get discouraged
if you lose a lot of lives here. You will need to make small adjustments
if you stand on the icy platforms on this stage; the back-and forth motion
will cause you to slide around, and potentially off, the platforms.

(1) Near the beginning, there is a puzzle piece between a hanging platform and
an electric spike trap. Either roll-jump or use the cane pogo to grab it.

<!> In the next section, there are large platform segment that move up and
down. None of the platforms will force you into the spikes on the ceiling,
but on several, you will need to duck. Try not to stop in any of these
spots, since you won't be able to control your horizontal movement while
    ducking.

(2) Pull on the second handle you come to in this section, and a puzzle piece
will appear in the gap ahead.

<!> As you climb the swinging platform segments, you can reach the heart on the
left side by jumping off of the hot hootz.

(3) At the very top of the swinging platforms, jump to the top of the left
swing, and ground-pound the urn on top. Collect all of the bananas that
appear to get a puzzle piece.

<!> After the tufftons, the path splits in two. The top path is much safer,
but will require you to duck several times.

(4) Grab all of the bananas along the top path, as well as the next two
climbable surfaces, and a puzzle piece will appear in the middle of the
    path.

(5) Continue forward until you reach a long slide. Partway down, you will see
a puzzle piece hovering above. Jump to get it, and watch out for the
    electric spike traps immediately below.

<!> At the bottom of the slide, jump off onto the climbable wall, then make
your way up to the right to earn a mysterious relic.

 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> To enter Secret Seclusion, you will need to have collected the mysterious
relic from the extra level on each island, as well as the one for defeating
the final boss at the end of Donkey Kong Island. Due to the lack of an
extra stage on this island, none of the levels will have KONG letters. The
difficulty of each stage is comparable to the extra stages you have
    encountered so far.

(1) Right out of the gate, you will be tasked with jumping between platforms
that will briefly rise out of the bottomless pit below. Roll-jump
underneath the third one to the fourth to pick up a puzzle piece.

(2) In the next section, you will need to quickly move from platform to
platform, as they will move into the background as you progress. Watch for
them to sparkle, as an indication that you will lose them soon. Stay near
the top as much as you can, as the puzzle piece is at the very top of the
screen. Some of the gaps along the top with will require roll-jumps to
    cross.

(3) On the next set of large square platforms, rings of bananas will appear
around each platform. The platforms will slowly start to move into the
background, and the bananas will disappear shortly before the platforms do.
Grab all of the bananas around both platforms to earn a puzzle piece.

(4) Continue across the next set of "jumping" platforms, then blast your way
into the dragon's mouth, avoiding the teeth. Once inside, you will need
to jump from falling block to falling block. Collect all four banana coins
along the way, and a puzzle piece will appear in front of the barrel
cannon, which will lead you outside.

(5) The next section is, for the most part, more of the same, just harder. Do
a full hop off of the puffton on the first bounce to claim the puzzle piece
    just ahead.

<!> Find your way across the smooth side of the spiky blocks. The slot barrel
is just ahead. Finishing this level will open up both Rocket Rails and
    Crazy Clouds.

( 7-2 ) ROCKET RAILS [RKTRL]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

(1) Make your way across the moving platforms at the beginning. Once you reach
the first block with spikes on the bottom, jump on top to find a puzzle
    piece.

(2) Upon entering the mine cart, duck under the first finley, then fall
straight off the track to pick up the puzzle piece below. Do a full bounce
off of the finley to get back to the track.

(3) At the end of the mine cart section, you will be ejected into a pool. Swim
out to the left, and ground-pound the urn here to get a puzzle piece.

(4) Blast into the temple, and defeat the fish poker pops here. There will be
blocks falling onto the next platform. The platform after that has a
puzzle piece underneath it. Time your roll-jump to get it, while dodging
the falling blocks. Be careful, the thin platforms here will snap downward
a short time after stepping on them.

(5) After getting into the rocket barrel, grab the entire second trail of
bananas, and a puzzle piece will appear at the top of the screen.

<!> After the rocket barrel ride is over, bounce and roll-jump your way across
some finleys and gordos to reach the slot barrel. Finishing this level
will move the left half of the monkey statue into place.

( 7-3 ) CRAZY CLOUDS [CZCLD]
 \___/ Puzzle Pieces: 5

<!> The propeller platforms in this stage will explode a couple of seconds
after you step on them. Use the purple wind gust to get some height. The
smaller propeller platforms will explode after a shorter amount of time.
Wait for the cloud platform to appear before using the first barrel cannon.
Like the propellers, the cloud platforms will fall away after a short time,
and the small ones will give you less time.

(1) After navigating the column of spiky blocks, grab all of the bananas inside
the next wind gust to make a puzzle piece appear above the next platform.

(2) Blast to the next propeller platform, then into the wind gust to the next.
Do a giant roll-jump to the right to reach the two hot hootz guarding a
    puzzle piece.

<!> In the next section, ride the wind gusts over the blue hootz to reach the
next cloud platform. Roll-jump through the spiky boxes after this one
starts falling to get to the next. Likewise, the next gap will require a
    well-placed roll-jump.

(3) Ground-pound the urn here, then grab all of the bananas that pop out to
    earn a puzzle piece.

(4) Ride the firecracker platform up, then continue right for a ways. The next
urn you will see is on a propeller platform. Ground-pound it, and quickly
grab the puzzle piece before the platform explodes.

(5) Continue forward until you find a forward-facing firecracker platform.
Ride it forward, and jump over the spiky blocks. For best results, don't
move left or right during these jumps. After the first one breaks, jump
to the second, and continue dodging the blocks by jumping or ducking. A
puzzle piece rests in between two sets of spiky blocks. Come up from your
duck in between them to pick it up.

<!> The slot barrel is just ahead, after a few more wind gusts and propeller
platforms. Finishing this level will move the right half of the monkey
statue into place. Once you have completed the monkey statue, you will
    unlock hard mode.

| |) ) ( Time Attack [TMATK]
|___/|_|\_\--------------------------------------------------------------------

Time attack is a mode that can be attempted in single-player on any level
(including secret levels, extra levels, and bosses) that has been previously
completed. Basically, the idea is to get to the end of the level, through the
normal exit, as quickly as possible. Scores can be uploaded to the internet,
assuming you have a Nintendo ID and an internet connection, where other people
can view your run. For each stage, you will be able to see the runs of:
- The top 7 times
- The 3 times directly above yours and the 4 times directly below yours
- Your friends' times
Viewing the top times is a great way to learn tricks on completing levels
quickly, and they will be able to teach you more than I can, so I won't go into
detail about each individual level, but here are a few general tips that might
give your time that extra boost:

- Time attack requires patience. Even with the tips provided here, you will
still have to get used to running through stages at high speeds, as well as
various elements throughout them. Don't get frustrated if you don't get a
gold or shiny gold medal after 5, 10, or even 20 tries.

- You will hear a beep when a medal time is going to expire within five
seconds. Hit the goal barrel quickly, or you might lose the medal!

- Items picked up during time attack will not count toward your total, but they
will often denote fast paths through stages, so it might be worth picking
  them up anyway.

- If you would normally lose a life for any reason, you will start over, unlike
in Donkey Kong Country Returns. This will prevent you from having to restart
the stage every time you get sent backward.

- Rolling is always faster than running. Also, if you jump during a roll, you
will keep that speed all the way through the jump. Therefore, it is almost
always recommended to jump at the end of each roll.

- Having a partner Kong with you will make you roll faster, as well as being
able to roll continuously. Therefore, it is usually worth it to stop to grab
  a Kong barrel.

- You can select which Kong will appear in Kong barrels throughout the stage on
the stage menu. Cranky has always claimed that he can beat the game faster
than anyone; now let him prove it! Cranky's cane pogo will not modify your
momentum on use, while Diddy's jetpack and Dixie's ponytail twirl will cause
you to lose some forward momentum, so picking Cranky is almost always a safe
  bet for a good time.

- Taking damage will cause you to stop in place for a moment, but sometimes
taking that hit for the sake of reaching a faster path can be well worth it.

- While you can't directly control the speed of a mine cart, you can manipulate
them to improve your time. Mine carts will change speed when going up and
down hills, moving slower and faster, respectively. By jumping, you can
ignore both of these effects. Thus, by jumping up hills, you can slightly
improve the overall speed of your minecart. The difference is slight, but it
could definitely mean the difference between gold and shiny gold.

- While pulling on a handle, if you repeatedly tap the jump button, you will
actually yank it up faster. Use this for those stubborn handles that refuse
  to come up.

Shiny gold medals are secret medals that the game does not tell you about until
you actually achieve the necessary time to get one. If you're interested in
just how quickly you will need to beat each level in order to get one, this is
the place you will want to be.

| |) ) ( Hard Mode [HRDMD]
|___/|_|\_\--------------------------------------------------------------------

Analogous to mirror mode from Donkey Kong Country Returns, hard mode is an
additional challenge that can be completed upon achieving 100% in the main
game. Playing through the levels in hard mode will allow you to reach up to
200% completion. Once unlocked, any stage can be attempted in hard mode. Here
are the differences you will face in hard mode:

- You will get to select one of the four playable characters before attempting
any stage. You will be stuck as that character, alone, for the entire stage,
so pick the one whose abilities best match the stage.

- You will not be allowed to bring any inventory items along with you into the
stage. You will have to rely on your platforming prowess alone.

- You will only get one Kong with one heart, so if you take any damange
whatsoever, you will lose a life (any vehicle that you enter will also only
get one heart). Also, all of the checkpoints have been removed, so you will
have to start over from the very beginning if you lose a life.

- Hearts have been removed, since they are no longer useful. Kong barrels will
revert to their normal red "DK" status, and, while they can be thrown at
enemies and obstacles, serve no other real purpose.

- The KONG letters now have a blue border instead of red, and, if collected
again in hard mode, will give you a blue star medal, which will overwrite
your red one. This appears to be bragging-rights-based only, as they don't
seem to unlock anything. Puzzle pieces that were not collected in normal
mode can still be collected, but collecting puzzle pieces a second time will
  not achieve anything for you.

- Secret exits can still be accessed, and leaving the stage through one still
counts as completion, so use one of those if it might be easier.

- Once you clear a stage in hard mode, the level marker will change from blue
to green, and the hard mode icon on the level summary will light up.
Additionally, your completion percentage will increase.
