Introduction

Point and click adventures seem to have fallen off the radar for most people.
I'm included in that group of people who've forgotten.

Playing through the game these past three days has been a fairly interesting
experience, though. I can certainly see some of the frustrations in
returning to the simplified mechanic, specifically in where to go next. That
sets the stage for taking the time to write up a guide, since these types of
tales are where it's most suited. There's a clearly defined beginning, middle
and end, with a wide berth of in between parts. Out of order is the norm, and
relaying a structure was going to be problematic, in my mind, with the game and
for the genre as a whole.

In came the idea for listing a set of inventory, since that was what'll be
rigid in each, individual playthrough, no matter how different. To progress,
each item is added to the set of inventory in relation to where one was
going to be in the story, done so to progress in a linear fashion. That set
inventory was what I saw as the key to unifying differing runs.

Looking up a newly acquired item would most help someone who's stuck, and then
matching up what one has and does not yet have would be a good clue as to what
open possibilities remain to get to the next step. With that in place, I
really do hope that decision was to your, the reader's, best benefit.

Everything else aside, I had quite a fun time playing and writing all this up.
Do take note that I tried as best I could to keep spoilers to a very bare
minimum. In fact, I didn't write anything up in regards to the story, as I'm
more prone to do. So, for those of you who like to be spoiler-free, I'm
happy to say this one should work out well.

I even used the new FAQ format to hide the puzzle solutions behind a spoiler
wall, so you can keep trying to solve the various puzzles yourself. Then, if
you give up and would rather not use the game's Skip feature, you can take a
peek at the solution. Even the hidden object hunt section is off elsewhere.
I'm a bit sad I can't use my go-to search anchors (tadapsg, mercibe and any
current obsessions) that have been my staple in past guides, but what better
way to test out a new format, touted by navigability and pictures, than a
game where you click on pictures to move around the world and find items?

All in all, I do hope you'll find this guide useful in some way!

    1. Not opening the General Store on South Street and missing that dust.
    2. Having full dust but not having all four Device Components.
    • For the former, solve the puzzle on the door and go in.
    • For the latter, they're found in the Study, Spillway, piano and sundial.
  • Q: What does [name]'s Head and Can Opener do?
    • A: Other than take up spots in your Inventory? It looks like nothing.
  • Q: What happens if I try to deliver dust without a finished pathway?
    • A: Nothing, you get to try again. I was curious about this, too.
  • Q: Do you have a location for all the items in the photograph?

Walkthrough

Quadrants and Subquadrants.

Before we start, I'm going to be making extensive use of the Quadrant naming system, as used in describing graphs in Math. Starting in the (+,+) area, this is marked as Q1, shorthand for Quadrant 1, and moving around in a counterclockwise motion, we have Q2, Q3 and Q4. Within each main Quadrant, I'm further splitting it up into Subquadrants, marked as q1 through q4; this creates 16 different, equally shaped areas.

The purpose is to describe where on the screen to look for something, giving you a much smaller area to search, rather than looking over the whole screen. Additionally, since the screens can scroll, I'm going to adding where to lock the screen position before dividing the screen into grids, either literally or figuratively.

For example, (BR/Q2/q4) means to scroll the cursor to the bottom right corner, and once locked, focus on the top left corner of the screen and, in that corner, look closer towards the center of the whole screen. The hidden object screens add a magnification number to the mix, since there's three different zooms that you can use. However, for the main walkthrough, the mag number isn't necessary.

Anyway...

Insert the disc into the Wii and load up the game. Choose "Adventure" and away we go!

Our client is Malgrave, and he is requesting that we get him more dust/powder from the island we're about to explore. When we get control, point near the bottom of the boat and Magnify there and Grab the item.

We're given a tutorial on looking around, by scanning to the left and right by bringing the Wii pointer to the left and right edges of the screen, respectively. Once done, move forward one screen.

Outside of the Barn, go backwards twice, to a screen with a dead tree. From here, go left, left and forward to the Windmill area.

  • Door Handle,
  • Add: Malgrave's Head,
  • Use: Lever,
  • Use: Door Handle,
  • Use: Red Pig,
  • Use: Blue Pig,
  • Use: Tongs

Take the right fork, step inside the cart and pan to the right side. Use the Lever (finally), then Push the Lever to reach the Windmill door.

Take the path to the right, grab the tiara and head back to the Windmill door. Magnify the door and use the Door Handle, then enter into the Windmill Interior.

Inside, Magnify on what looks like a telephone booth. Grab the nearby cord/hose hanging from the right and attach it to the telephone looking booth. You should now be back at the entrance. Pan up, Magnify on the door hatch and use the Red Pig and Blue Pig on the compass puzzle. Solve the puzzle to open the hatch and climb up to the second floor.

SPOILER! Highlight to View

Recall the notes taken inside the Butcher Shop, specifically the ones about the prices of the meats. Have the Blue Pig highlight the WxNW space, click the button to switch to being able to move the Red Pig and have that highlight the SxSE space.

Push the hanging sandbag on the left to have a ladder drop down. Climb up to the third floor.

Pan to the left, Push the sandbag and watch something fall, which we'll get to just shortly. Pan to the right side and take the left fork, avoiding going out the door for now. Now we see what's been jamming the windmill, so use the Tongs to grab and add Malgrave's Head to your Inventory.

Now we can head out the door, to Windmill. From the spinning blades, grab the Lion, Owl, Crab and Fish emblems, adding an entry to the Notebook. Go back to Windmill Interior.

Postcard alert: Also spinning on the blades outside is the Windmill Postcard.

Drop down to the second floor, now with light. Pan to the left side, Magnify on the bed to grab a teddy bear. Play the hanging radio for backstory if desired, then backtrack all the way to the Barn.

Postcard alert: Spinning on the center column is the Windmill Interior Postcard.

If you need help getting back, from the first screen after backing up from the Windmill, go backwards three times until you reach a screen with a dead tree. From here, go right two times to find the Barn. Go inside.

Move forward one screen, pan right and examine the sparkling dust to activate the Barn Hidden Object screen, then claim the Book as your prize. Move forward into the small room and solve the lightbulb puzzle. Doing so will restore the power to the Barn area.

SPOILER! Highlight to View

The basic premise for the lightbulb puzzle is to create a single path by lighting up each and every lightbulb without doubling back on one. The twist is in that there are three "jumps" you have to account for.

Alternatively, here's images for the Light Solution inside the Barn.

Head back one screen, pan right and Flip the breaker to activate the robot, getting it to smash open the safe. Magnify then Grab the Mask. Map-warp to the Theater.

Take the stairs to the left, approach the door, Magnify on the door and use the Mask on the door, opening up a puzzle. It's a sliding type puzzle, one that constantly randomizes itself upon returning, so I can't write up an explicit solution set. Once all the pieces are in place, except for the middle tile, open up your Inventory and finally use that Pig Tile we've been carrying around since forever, opening up the door. Enter into the Theater balcony.

Move forward, Magnify on the shiny object and Grab the Red Gear to add it to your Inventory. Map-warp to the Manor.

Pull the books in order: Lion, Owl, Crab, Fish. They even numbered the spines for you.

Once in the Vestibule, go forward, Magnify on the dust collecting machine and line up the three rings to Deliver the dust. The doors open and we'll begin the next section of gathering even more dust.

Walk forward, pan to the right and examine the sparkling dust to collect it and a Magnifying Glass for clearing the Greenhouse Hidden Object screen. From where the sparkling dust was, pan even further to the right and pick up the teddy bear (BR/Q1/q3). Move forward into the Back Lawn.

Postcard alert: The Greenhouse Postcard is in view (BR/Q3/q2).

At the Back Lawn, Magnify on the statue to the right and further Magnify the machine, prompting a puzzle. Solve it to fill the pond. Now Magnify on the cannon to the left and use the Magnifying Glass you just earned to fire a cannon.

Change all the icons into the same icon. I ended up with all squares.

Postcard alert: Move to the right path and pick up the Back Lawn Postcard (BR/Q4/q2).

The goal is to change "ERLAGVMA" into "MALGRAVE". The top lights switch the adjoining two letters while the bottom two lights switches two adjoining letters at a time. The lights activate one after another.

For a complete solution, number the top lights 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 from left to right, and then label the bottom lights a, b, c, d and e, also left to right. Activate the lights in this order:

Upon entering, Magnify on the circuit board to the right to add a note to the Notebook. Next, Magnify the bed and take the tiara. Pan left, check the Quarters Hidden Object screen by examining the sparkling dust on the tube and add the Key to your Inventory. Map-warp to the Factory Lawn.

Once at the Factory Lawn, pan left and find the sparkling dust newly restored. Clear the Factory Lawn Hidden Object screen to add the Mosaic Piece to your Inventory. Pan right, Magnify on the door and use the Key to open the door and go inside.

Postcard alert: Just to the left of the generator, there's a box on the ground. Inside is the Factory Postcard to add to your postcard collection.

Upstairs, take the right path and Magnify on the giant mechanism. Use your Water Hose to connect and restore the water pressure. Still in this sub-room, pan to the right to find some sparkling dust, opening up the Factory Hidden Object screen to gain the Moon. Backtrack to the Factory entrance.

Once here, Push the button and watch the scene. When you regain control, go back upstairs, this time taking the left path. Push the object to free it from the machine and go back to the Factory entrance once again.

Magnify on the shiny object and Grab the Yellow Gear for yourself. Map-warp to the Graveyard.

With the three gears in hand, we're going to open the mausoleum's doors. Take the right fork until you reach the mausoleum, then Magnify on the door. Use the Clean Gear, the Red Gear and your Yellow Gear on the door to have the path open up. Enter inside.

Pan to the right, open up the Mausoleum Hidden Object screen and then add the Dictionary to your Inventory. Magnify on the floor and use the Mosaic Piece to activate a puzzle. Solve this puzzle to have Malgrave contact you, requesting you return to the Manor, but add that little note to your Notebook automatically. Follow Malgrave's request and go back to the Manor, easily done by Map-warping there.

Looks like our path is blocked thanks to that toxic gas. Backtrack one screen and go right one screen. Attempt to climb the ladder and watch as it falls, but at least it opened up a new path. Climb up this new path, then go toward the window and forward another screen to the valve. Turn the valve, then jump/drop down below, which will restore our access to the Manor area.

  • Note: If you take the long way back to the Manor doors, despite having turned

off the gas, the game will still think you cannot proceed. You can fix that by going all the way back up to the valve screen and jumping off the pipes.

Head into the Study, watch the cutscene and, thanks to you knowing too much for your own good, Malgrave sends us to the Cell.

In the Cell, pan all the way to the right and go forward. Someone suddenly appears and goes into spoilerific detail about what's been going on here on the island, then drops a Puzzle Tile to add to your Inventory.

With that out of the way, continue pressing forward until you reach a gated fence. Pan to the right and Grab the Broom. Turn back around and use the Broom on the items beyond the gate, sweeping the Cellar Key toward you and adding it to your Inventory. Immediately use that Cellar Key on the gate in front of you and go forward.

Postcard alert: Just before grabbing the Broom, on the barrels against the wall, you can pick up the Cell Postcard.

Beyond the gate, Grab the Chair and backtrack all the way to the first screen, where we fell into the Cell. Use the Chair on the lone crate in the middle of the room and climb out.

Pan to the right and recover your dust collecting device from the desk. It's that thing that's shining. Move forward, going through the Vestibule and into the Greenhouse.

Magnify the cottage/dollhouse and use the Puzzle Tile you just picked up. This opens up the puzzle tile puzzle which, upon solving, opens up the Dollhouse Hidden Object screen. Complete it to gain the Diorama. Head back to the Foyer and go up to the second floor, into Quarters.

SPOILER! Highlight to View

The basic idea is to create a chain from one end to the other by matching the same symbol on each tile end.

Here's a completed solution for the Puzzle Tile puzzle:

       _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ B = Unmovable Buttons
       _ _ _ _ _ _ _ C x X T T = Triangle
       H _ _ _ B _ _ C B T S S = Square

Examine the sparkling dust to the left to open the Quarters Hidden Object screen and pick up a Can Opener. Pan to the right, Magnify that circuit board and attach the Diorama, opening up another puzzle. Solve it to have the wall slide away, leading into a hidden room.

SPOILER! Highlight to View

Each of the items in the diorama are sequentially linked in some fashion. Thus, there are five groups with five levels each.

  • The first sequence is the preparation of chicken.
    • Egg > Chick > Chicken > Fried Chicken > Wishbone
  • The second sequence is counting.
    • Eye > Stamp with 2 > 3 of Diamonds card > Equation > Tally Marks
  • The third sequence is the alphabet.
    • Medallion with A > Vine Forming B > Apple > Inner Frame's D > Outer Frame
  • The fourth sequence are the stages of a butterfly.
    • Leaf > Champagne Bottle > Cocoon in TR > Butterfly > Framed Butterfly
  • The fifth sequence is the creation of a chair.
    • Sprout in the TR corner > Potted Plant > Tree > Lumber Logs > Chair

For further help, here's the Diorama Solution in picture form.

Inside the hidden room, examine the sparkling dust and clear the Hidden Room Hidden Object screen to add a Horseshoe to your Inventory.

Backtrack to the Foyer and go to the left to find a door asking about horseplay. Magnify on the door and use the Horseshoe to enter the next room.

Inventory
  • Malgrave's Head,
  • Moon,
  • Dictionary,
  • Can Opener,
  • Add: Sun,
  • Use: Dictionary

Go forward and take the left path, toward some stairs and sparkling dust. First, go left again and Magnify the seemingly empty space to go behind the stairs and pick up the teddy bear. This should be the last teddy bear to pick up completing the entire photograph collection. Now, head back to the screen where you can access the sparkling dust to begin the Library Hidden Object screen hunt. Completing it gives you the Sun. Backtrack one screen.

Postcard alert: Library Postcard in the debris, left of the sparkling dust (BL/Q2/q4).

Pan to the right and Magnify the podium and use the Dictionary. This opens up the panel in front of you, which we'll enter now.

  • Sun,

  • Use: Sun,
  • Use: Earth,

Go forward once, pan to the right and take the tiara (BR/Q2/q4). A prompt should have come up, signifying all of the tiaras have been found, much like all the watches in the Field. Go forward again, examining the sparkling dust for the Ground Zero Hidden Object screen, which grants you the Earth to add to your Inventory. Go forward again and climb the ladder to reach the other side.

Postcard alert: The Ground Zero Postcard is on the ground in front of the machine on the right, before climbing up the ladder.

Magnify the door and place the Sun, Earth and Moon pieces on the door. Enter the final room of the game.

Inventory
  • Malgrave's Head,
  • Can Opener

Postcard alert: Chamber Postcard is stuck in the bricks to your left (BL/Q3/q2).

Move forward, get some dialogue and instructions to flip some switches. So let's do just that. Pull the switch to your right (BR/Q3/q1), pan to the left and move forward. Look to the left to Pull the next switch, and that's all we need (BL/Q4/q2).

Now we're told to look around the room for clues to access a secret panel. You can do that, adding them to the Notebook, or skip ahead to the spoiler block of text below, your choice. If you're skipping ahead, Magnify on the big ominous machine ahead of you. If instead, you're going to search for the clues, pan right and move forward, avoiding said machine.

Magnify on the canister on the right to gain a clue and add it to your Notebook (BL/Q1/q3). There's another clue just below that, on the panel, thereby updating your Notebook (BL/Q4/q1). Turn and face the door that led into the Chamber and pan up to find a third clue. Keep panning to the right to find some small canisters on the ground, Magnifying on those to add a fourth clue (BR/Q4/q2). There should be a fifth clue, but I have yet to find it, but this will be more than enough. Head back to the big, glowing ominous machine, Magnify on it and we'll get to use our clues.

SPOILER! Highlight to View

So, the clues were R+, W+, S+ and -E. As well as a final + switch. Rotate around the machine and Flip the switches (left is -, right is +) for each of the corresponding letters, opening the final dust delivery system.

Magnify on the newly opened panel, Rotate the three discs to create a pathway to Deliver the final set of dust we've collected.

Object Finding Screens

Quadrants and Subquadrants.

As in the main walkthrough, in describing the location of the objects on these screens, I'm going to use the Quadrant naming system, borrowed from Math.

Let's take a look at these two entries, from the Barn screen:

Hidden ObjectMagnificationCornerMain QuadrantSub QuadrantAdd'l Notes
Brown Spider2BRQ1q2On beans can
Shovel2TLQ2/Q3q2-q3/q2-q3

To find the brown spider, zoom in to the max number of two times (the magnification number), focus on the bottom right corner, then divide the screen to look at the top right corner (Q1) and, while staying in that top right corner, further divide that portion of the screen to look at the top left corner. Basically, this is the top right edge of the screen, but closer to the middle rather than the corner. As an additional note, there's special mention to check on a "beans can" to further find this object.

To find the shovel, zoom in to the maximum two times, focus on the top left corner and now check both Q2 and Q3 (the left half of the screen). For the top part of the left side of the screen (Q2), check between q2 and q3 (the left half of this smaller square). Do the same for the bottom part of the left side of the screen (Q3). This means that the object is bigger or takes up space in more parts of the screen.

Mag 0 means to zoom out all the way, while mag 1 means to zoom in just once, rather than a full zoom. Now, on to the screen data!
