Unfortunately, Yahoo! is shutting down all free Geocities web sites
this summer. I have decided to close down all my Geocities web sites
early to beat the rush in saving all my files. Until Yahoo!
officially dumps the sites, I've posted a short message there, but
    all content has been removed.

Thank you for all of your support of my web sites for over 10 years!
I will be considering a move to my own web site domain, but for now,
you can access my video game FAQ/walkthroughs on GameFAQs.com and
any other sites located in the Credits section.

    Many thanks & happy gaming,

                                   *Game Premise*

An out-of-this world sequel to Super Mario Sunshine in which Mario &
friends must rescue Princess Peach from Bowser's evil clutches and
restore the Power Star that will return Mario home from the depths
of outer space through an observatory in which you will access several
    galaxies.

                               *Decoding My Directions*

There's not really much to say here. Compass directions are not very
relevant to the game, so I only use left/right and up/down as common
    directions.

Sometimes I have a habit of using "#x", meaning number of times (e.g.
2x= 2 times) as a shortform to move or do something that many times.

                                  *Bare Bones Guide*

Players looking for a challenge can try beating the game themselves
    by using these basic tips.

    1) Get the Luma for the ability to fly through space.
    2) Access the galaxies through the Comet Observatory locations.
    3) Explore all plausible areas.
    4) Check back with previous galaxies for Prankster Comets.
    5) Talk to Mailtoad for letters from Luigi.
    6) Feed Hungry Lumas around the Comet Observatory and within
        galaxies to reveal secret areas.
    7) Collect 3 Green Stars to open up the Trial Galaxy.
    8) Defeat Bowser and Bowser Jr.'s boss levels for Grand Stars.
    9) Defeat Bowser in the ultimate boss fight.
    10) Replay the game as Luigi for double the stars!

Star # 1- Grand Star Rescue

Mario is awakened on a grassy hill by a Luma, who then turns into
a bunny. Chase it until you meet with two more wabbits (wascally
wabbits) to play hide 'n' seek. Guess who's It? The first rabbit
is in a nearby hole with a coin above it. Chase it down & it will
reveal the location of the next rabbit. Take the pipe to find it.
The last rabbit is in the grass with sticky green bulbs. Once you
find the 3rd rabbit, a tower is built. Climb it up to meet Rosalina,
the guardian of the mystical Lumas, who will grant you a spin attack
move, used by shaking the Wiimote, and you get your own Luma companion.
Break the crystals by spinning into them, then use the Launch Star by
approaching it & shaking the Wiimote to reach a nearby planet. Collect
5 Star Chips to free the trapped Luma and don't fall through the holes
(that goes for all planets to come). Get (1) Star Chip in a crystal
near the Luma, (2) on a nearby platform, (3) on the edge of a hole,
    (4) by a pillar with a 1-Up on top for you to collect, and (5) on
another platform. Use the next Launch Star to find another trapped
Luma (these guys sure get caught easily). Spin into the Goomba enemies
to eventually find a key to free the Luma. Use the Sling Star the same
way you do a Launch Star. It just doesn't "launch" you very far.
Defeat more Goombas, including the gigantic one which has the key, to
free another Luma. Enter the pipe to find a Grand Star encased in a
weird machine. Step on all 16 yellow switches to turn them blue. Only
step on them once so they stay blue. There are 12 around the Grand Star
and 4 amongst the moving platforms. Be wary of the electricity on their
ends. Once all switches are activated, collect the Grand Star to
    reach the Comet Observatory.

    Comet Observatory

Here you will learn that each galaxy has a Grand Star which will power
up the observatory and allow you to rescue Peach & eventually return
home. All in a day's work for Mario. The Power Stars will open up
more galaxies. Capeach? Sorry...a little Nintendo humour there.
By finding the first star, you open up the Terrace, one of 6 areas
here. Save your game & enter the green domed building, a.k.a. the
Terrace. Aim your Wiimote & press A on the blue Pull Star to access
the nearby galaxies. Each galaxy is opened up by finding the number
of stars attached to each. Open up the "1" galaxy and select the
    Good Egg Galaxy to continue.

    Star #1- Dino Piranha

Head across the stone bridge at right to walk around the planet to
the top. Isn't gravity cool? Head right and across the next
walkway to a red pipe. Take it to a secret area. This is a
recurring activity to gain a 1-Up. Climb the wall at right and
touch the big coin to activate a series of musical notes. Walk
through them all (it doesn't have it be in order) to play a
familiar SMB tune. Touch all the notes within the time limit to
earn a 1-Up. Collect it, then exit back through the red pipe on
the bottom floor. Head back left to the walkway with a Goomba.
Climb it up to a Luma and talk to it to open up a Sling Star. Use
it to reach a Launch Star and reach the next planet. Watch out for
Mick, Keith & Ron (ahem...the rolling stones) to collect 5 Star
Chips. (1) and (2) are on either side of the Luma, (3), (4) & (5)
are between the boulders. Use the next Launch Star to reach the
next planet. Jump on the Piranha Plant to activate a vine. Shake
the Wiimote to climb it. Climb the path and avoid the boulders by
standing in the little groves on the right side. Behind the tunnel
that spits out the boulders (finding a 1-Up nearby), defeat the
purple Piranha Plant by spinning into the green bulbs and standing
aside so they hit the Piranha and not you! Use the next vine to
reach a stone path, then climb up the structure and spin the
crystal. Use the Launch Star to smack into a giant egg, which then
blindly attempts to run you over. Spin into the nut on its tail to
wind up & crack the egg to reveal your first mini-boss, Dino Piranha.
Stay out of its line of sight & continue spinning into the nut on its
tail a total of 3 times to defeat it. It's not too hard to beat it,
though it does pick up speed by its 2nd hit. Defeating Dino Piranha
    brings you a Power Star.

Practice using Star Bits by aiming your Wiimote at the ones that
appear, then aim at the black Luma and press B to shoot them at
him. Return to the Good Egg Galaxy to continue.

Star #2- A Snack of Cosmic Proportions

This star is part of a recurring activity in which you must
feed a Hungry Luma a certain number of Star Bits to open
up areas to collect stars. For this area, you need 100
Star Bits. Find them in the grass, from defeating enemies
(by spinning, not jumping), on trees, and raining down from
the universe. You'll probably get close to 100 (if not
the entire lot) in the first planet alone. Head up the stone
stairway to a blue Luma who will reveal Pull Stars. Aim
with the Wiimote & press A to pull Mario to a Launch star.
Find more Star Bits by spinning into the crystals & enemies
here, then find the next Launch Star frozen in its own crystal.
Ignore the Launch Star en route to the next planet. Avoid the
rolling boulders and collect more Star Bits if necessary, then
use the next Launch Star, ignoring the Launch Star in mid-space.
Talk to the Hungry Luma & shoot 100 Star Bits her (his?) way to
form a new planet. Use the new Launch Star to reach it. Climb
up the structure and collect the 1-Up at right by spinning
a green bulb into the spiky plants. Wall jump between the
two walls by jumping off them with A. Head left to the stairs
and use the Launch Star atop them. No, you're not going crazy.
It's glass. Find an empty crystal & spin into it to reveal a
hole. Drop through to the inside area. Gravity gets bendy
here (like the Whoa Zone in SPM). Head right into a red area
where Mario flips upside-down to walk on the ceiling. Cool!
Keep heading right into blue (normal) & red areas. At the
moving platforms, avoid the blue area or you'll have to start
over again. Zip across the platforms at right once you head
up a bit to get another 1-Up, then go left to flip up to a
Launch Star. On the next planet, it looks dangerous, but
you're stuck to it like glue. You can't fall into oblivion,
trust me. Collect all 5 blue Star Chips, found on top & under
the star-shaped planet to reveal Pull Stars. Use one, then
aim for another. While in mid-air, aim & use a Pull Star that
will pull you into the Power Star. It's tricky, and you need
to be quick, or you'll be pulled too far in & get lost in space.

Star #3- King Kaliente's Battle Fleet

Head around to the other side of the planet & find the red pipe
you entered earlier. *Suck, suck, suck* (cue pipe-taking sound
effects). Play the musical note game from earlier for another
1-Up, then take the other red pipe on the ceiling, and use the
Launch Star on the roof of the house. Spin into the crystal
to free a Toad and receive a tip for beating the spiky plants.
Spin into the green coconuts to automatically bop the plants. Find
the giant spiky plant and hit it with a coconut to reveal a Sling
Star. Use it to reach a nearby planet. Find the Pokey (cactus) at
the opposite end & bop a coconut at it. Its head remains, so jump
on it to reveal a Launch Star.
Blast off! Ignore the Sling Star for now and use the pipe for
a little bonus. Touch the coin to turn invincible "Rainbow Mario".
Hit up all the Goombas, then exit back & knock out the Chain Chomps
if the power hasn't run out by now. Use the Sling Star to reach
an electrified planet. Avoid the electric lines by jumping over
them to the opposite side. Watch out for the Chain Chomps and
Bullet Bills being launched from the central machine. Bullet Bills
can stalk you, so stay close to the blocks to destroy them. Climb
the walls, spin into the crystal & use the Launch Star to reach
one of Bowser's old-school airships. Head forward to reveal two
guys who shoot coconuts at you. Spin into them (of course) to
knock them both out & reveal a bridge. Take it across & climb up
at right to the Launch Star. On the next planet, the Luma will
tip you off on the yellow lights on the ground. If you shoot a
Star Bit at them, you'll get a coin, which will restore a point
on your life meter. That's a good thing, since you only get 3 :oP
Head up to the lava area to fight a mini-boss, King Kaliente.
Avoid the lava (duh) and the fireballs & ice he spits at you. When
he spits out a green coconut, spin into it to bop him. Repeat
two times, but be aware that he will knock it back towards you
once (for the 2nd hit) and twice (for the last hit). Collect
the Power Star once he's "magmatized".

Once back at the Comet Observatory, a new galaxy opens. You'll
return to Good Egg Galaxy later, once you reveal or obtain new
items. I'll return you there later. For now, use the Pull Star again,
blast open the "3" and enter the Honeyhive Galaxy.

Star #1- Bee Mario Takes Flight

Head right along the path, then up & left to the fountain area. Touch
the ? coin to reveal a Bee Mushroom. Drop down at left & grab it to
become Bee Mario, one of several Power-Ups in the game. Now you can
fly by pressing A, but be aware of your gauge that drains very quickly
if you constantly hold A. Try tapping it while in mid-air to use up
its power more effectively. If you get hit by an enemy or touch water,
you'll return back to normal Mario, and therefore, will need to find
another Bee Mushroom to change back. Anyhoo, fly up to the high ledge
behind the waterfall & head forward to an open tree stump. Geronimo!
Slide down (not that you have much choice), then fly up to another
ledge. Collect coins from the flowers (only acccessible as Bee Mario)
and fly across to the Launch Star, avoiding the honey, which slows you
down considerably. On the next planet, hop across the lily pads around
to the right where a fellow bee guards a large flower. Climb the stem
like you do a vine by shaking the Wiimote. Navigate the flowers & avoid
the water jets, then use the Launch Star on the big flower. As Bee
Mario, fly to the honeycombs to stick to them, then climb up them. Fly
off & stick to more to reach a ledge. Jump on the Piranha Plant to
reveal a vine, then take it to reach the Queen Bee. Fly to her & stick
to her body (hope she's not too ticklish!). Head all the way around her
to collect 5 Star Chips. Fly behind her to the Launch Star, then talk
to the Toad with a light on its helmet to receive a Power Star.

Once you finish this star, Rosalina will show you the Garage, where
a bunch of Toads are fixing up a spaceship to rescue Peach. Spin into
the box for a 1-Up, then head back to the Terrace & continue with the
    Honeyhive Galaxy.

Star # 2- Trouble on the Tower

Head right & you'll notice some grey blocks. You can destroy them by
ground pounding (press A, then Z) to collect Star Bits. The second
block up the road reveals a vine. Carefully shake the Wiimote to
use it, but DON'T twirl at the end, or you'll fall off the planet!
At the next area, pound the block to reveal a trampoline, then jump
& ground pound it to reach the ? block for Star Bits. Head around
the tree and use the next trampoline to reach a Sling Star. Defeat
the Wiggler with a ground pound, then do the same to the red switch
to reveal a bridge. Take it to another switch & pound it to climb
the walls. Remember how to do wall jumps? Jump to a wall, then
press A and move towards the next wall to climb up them. Wall jump
between two towers, then use the Launch Star at the top. Head down
to the bottom. Jump off to the planet very close by, then use the
Sling Star on its bottom. Get the ? coin to become Rainbow Mario &
defeat all the enemies. Jump into the open stump to reach a high
tower. Head left & jump to the swing to propel Mario over the gap.
Fall to the tiled floor below and collect the Life Shroom to double
your health meter to 6. If it falls down to 3, you'll lose the extra
meter. Ground pound the purple bugs to defeat them. Use the
trampoline to return upwards, then head to the parallel walls. Wall
jump up, then head left & pound the red switch to make the windmill
blades spin. Jump to a blade to ride it around, then hop to the
platform with a large bug and a small bug on its head. Ground pound
the small bug to get the big mama bug really heated up. Pound her
the same way to get the Power Star.

    Star #3- Big Bad Bugaboom

Revenge of the nerds...I mean bugs. Head right, ground pounding
any bugs you want to smoosh. Head up to the fountain where a
launcher is making bubbles. Step on the block in front of it
to sail over the big gap to a ledge. On the tree stump, get
the Life Mushroom, then head left and jump on the pole to slide
down (it's okay if you miss...the ground will break your fall!).
Get the Bee Mushroom on the lily pad at right, then take the pipe
ahead. Avoid the launchers itching to splash you and fly up behind
the waterfall to the high ledge. Head to the end to meet the Queen
Bee again. Use the Launch Star to land in a new area. Use the flower
to swing & fly across to another one, then use it to reach the main
    platform.
Time to fight, boy-o! Stay Bee Mario to reach him. Just fly up
and ground pound the giant Mandibug to get it really p-...uh, mad.
Now he'll start bombing the joint. When he turns the corner, start
flying up, then when he gets close, now's your chance to pound him.
Now he'll not only fly around & try to bomb you, but he'll tilt his
back so you might fall off. That bum :oP Use the same strategy,
just be quick about it, and you'll get the star. You can also use
the flowers and honeycombs to gain extra height.

Once you complete this star, a Hungry Luma appears by the Terrace.
See my Hungry Lumas section for help. If you don't have enough Star
Bits, you can always return later.

At the Terrace, you can open up two new mini-galaxies & continue on.

    Star #1- Surfing 101

Talk to the big penguin (the coach) and say Yes to start a tutorial
on manta ray surfing. Point the Wiimote at the screen and tilt left/
right to turn that way. Hold A to speed up and let go to slow down.
Head down the track through the tunnel to begin the real thing. It's
a race against the clock. Finish in under 1:30 to win the star. Go
fast on straightaways and slow down on sharp turns. Try to collect
the 1-Up along the way. I find the waves will really give you
momentum, so use them when it's safe to. When you cross the finish
    line, you get a star.

Star #1- Painting the Planet Yellow

Like a previous galaxy, you need to step on each blue switch, turning
it yellow, this time avoiding several electrical barriers. Head down
and left, then use the red moving platform to head back up. Go around
left past the shockwave-spouting enemy, then down right to finish up.
Once you hit the last switch, everything is neutralized. Ground pound
the purple enemy (now a trampoline) to reach the star.

Once this star is complete, open up the next galaxy & continue.

                             *Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor*

    Star #1- Megaleg's Moon

Head down and lure a Bullet Bill towards the trapped Launch Star to
free it, then use it. Bowser Jr. makes a cameo appearance before
siccing a big robot on you. Wait for one of its legs to land, then
climb it like a ramp. Jump over the Bullet Bill cannons and across
the cogs to the top of Megaleg. Lure a Bullet Bill towards the gates
to break a section off, then lure another one through the open hole
to the trapped star. It's tricky and the gates will reassemble after
a minute or so. If you can knock off a couple of gates, the hole
will be easier to lure a Bullet Bill through. Collect the star once
    you blast the glass. Huzzah!

Alternative strategy: Once you reach the glass dome area at the top
of the robot, you can use one of two other strategies. a.) lure one
Bullet Bill over to the gate, then backflip over it. If you're lucky,
then the Bullet Bill will follow you and arc over the gate into the
glass dome. Or, b.) Lure two Bullet Bill's at the same time. That way,
you have the first one hit the gate and the second one follows through
the hole right after the first one blows up.

Once you complete this level, the Fountain opens up. You'll return
to the Terrace at a later time (which I'll remind you to do). Also,
once you get 13 Power Stars, a series of Prankster Comets will appear
at observatory areas randomly. So check back at previously visited
areas (Terrace, Fountain, etc.) to see if a Prankster Comet has hit.
Check out my Prankster Comets section for information on how to obtain
each star from the Prankster Comet levels.

From the Terrace, head around left to a beam of light. Step on the
disc to be transported up to the Fountain. Use the Pull Star, then
    open up the "9" galaxy.

                                  *Space Junk Galaxy*

    Star #1- Pull Star Path

Use the Pull Star ahead and shake the Wiimote to land on the planet.
Use the series of 8 Pull Stars at the other end of the platform. Head
above the L-shaped rock to reach a glass planet. Collect 5 Star Chips,
    (1) being right there when you land. At left is (2) and (3), (4) is on
the top side of the next planet at right, and (5) is also here,
encircling it. Use the Launch Star that appears. Head to the top of
the rocket (cool planet motif!) and use the Pull Star dome as usual 3x,
then carefully navigate the series of Pull Stars. If you go too fast,
you'll hit a rock and fall. At the end, free all the Toads trapped in
crystals, then jump up (flipping upside down) to the Starshroom ship.
Use the Sling Star at the top to reach a bunch of (like the galaxy name)
space junk. Prove how much you trust me and start walking forward. See?
Head left across the green blocks to (1) silver star. You need 5 of
these to get the big star. Head all the way right to (2), then back to
the fork and forward some more to another fork. Go left for (3), then
forward at the fork on top of a block for (4). Go back to the fork and
right to find red space bits. Jump towards a bunch for them to form a
platform, then head right across a couple more for (5) and the real star
will appear. Backtrack down all the way to the beginning to collect the
    Power Star.

    Star #2- Kamella's Airship Attack

The Toad will tell you that several of his crew are lost in space.
Use the Launch Star to reach the Airship. You can find a ? block
full of Star Bits at right. Spin left of the blue lever to activate
the bridge, then cross it to the two rabbits (sorry, wabbits). Jump
and spin across the gap left for a 1-Up, then spin into the box at
right for a Sling Star. Using it, spin atop the green valve to raise
it up and use the ? box. Free the Toads in the crystals, then use the
Koopa Shell by simply walking into it. Throw it by shaking the Wiimote
to open the two treasure chests and bopping the Magikoopa. Do it
again at the last chest for a Launch Star. Jump to the tilty platform at
left and try to Long Jump (run, press Z&A) to reach a chimney for lots
of Star Bits. Use the Sling Star to head back. Jump on the slow-
moving Koopas to use their Koopa Shells to open two chests and get
the Life Mushroom from one. The red shell is more accurate than
the green one. Toss shells at the two distant enemies and use the
bridge to reach a Sling Star.

Now to fight Kamella, a Magikoopa that will shoot fireballs and an
ocassional Koopa Shell your way. Spin at the Koopa Shell to nab it,
then shake the Wiimote to toss it at her. She will then summon
two Magikoopas and toss more fireballs. Continue the same strategy
2x to defeat her. You can either ignore or defeat the smaller
Magikoopas. You are rewarded with a star.

This being your 13th star collected, Rosalina informs you about a
Prankster Comet. Just left of her by the Terrace is a Luma who will
give you more information. Remember to check back for them often.

    Star #3- Tarantox's Tangled Web

Talk to the red Toad captain to learn that another crew member is
missing. This guy needs to get with the program...Use the Pull
Star to reach the first planet, then use more Pull Stars to
approach the L-shaped rock. This time, go left (instead of right)
to a new planet. Head up to find a Pull Star above a hole and
drop through. The maze area can be confusing, and with a birds-eye
camera angle, keep in mind that my directions will be from Mario's
POV. Head right around to a Launch Star. Use it to reach another
planet. Head forward & beat the spiders, then find a Toad stuck
in a Sling Pod. Aim and use A to fling (sling?) the Toad across
to the next planet. He'll just be trapped there now?! Fling
yourself over as well, then use the next Sling Pod to reach a
rocket planet and get the Life Mushroom on the top. Use the
Sling Pod at the bottom to the L-shaped rock, then through a
huge cocoon and into a big spider web. Use a Sling Pod to shoot
yourself into a smaller cocoon and summon Tarantox, a huge spider.

Quickly avoid his acid attack and use a Sling Pod to fling
yourself into the big glowing circle on its back. This only
stuns it. Follow it up by slinging yourself into one of 3 red
spots, or you can also destroy its acid spouts. Continue this
strategy again as Tarantox releases even more acid to beat him
and win the Star. Sling yourself into the star to grab it.

For finishing this star, a Hungry Luma appears by the Fountain.
Feed it 400 Star Bits to open up the Sling Pod Galaxy. See
the Hungry Lumas section to finish this galaxy for a Power Star.

Star #4- Secret Star- Yoshi's Unexpected Appearance

Re-enter Tarantox's Tangled Web. Notice the ? on the star. Use
the Pull Star off the Starshroom ship and collect lots of Star
Bits as you head left past the L-shaped rock to the glass planet.
Drop through the hole ahead and collect more Star Bits from the
Goombas, grass, crystals, and a circle of 8 rocks you can spin.
Use the Pull Star to head back on top and find the Hungry Luma.
Feed her 50 Star Bits to create a new Yoshi-shaped planet. Cute!
Use the new Launch Star to reach it. All you need to do is
defeat all the Goombas crawling over Yoshi's head. Once you
beat them all, you get a star.

Open up the "12" galaxy to continue.

                                  *Battlerock Galaxy*

    Star #1- Battlerock Barrage

Upon landing, begin collecting 5 blue Star Chips. (1) is circling
around the first platform, (2) is on the third platform following
one with a ? coin, (3) is on the next platform with Topmen enemies.
Head left to the underside of a platform for (4) and then lastly
    (5) on the final platform. Use the Pull Stars to reach and use the
Launch Star. Head to the top of this new platform and use the purple
enemy as a trampoline to the upper platform. Spin atop the screw to
move the platform into a barrage of cannonballs and electric fences.

*From Phenox: Once you get to the moving platform, just move as far
away from the center as possible and hold the Z button. You can duck
underneath all of the solid walls and almost all of the electric
fences. Makes the level much easier. You just have to make sure you're
away from the center, since the platform slopes upwards as you go
    toward the center.

Move to the underside of the platform when an electric fence approaches
(the pattern is up, down, up, down). Jump over the low electric line,
then to the platform for the star. Ha ha...sorry, that was cruel.
You'll need to blast the glass frame around it first. Head forward to
the last platform and you'll see a couple of Bullet Bill cannons. Lure
one to follow you and hop back to the glass case with the star. Now
you can collect it. No fooling :o)

Star #2- Breaking Into the Battlerock

Now in place of star chips are Bob-ombs and a Launch Star in a glass
case. Touch the Bob-omb to pick it up and shake the Wiimote to toss
it at the glass case before it bombs Mario instead. Use the Launch
Star to reach a new planet. Pick up the Bob-omb at the green end,
then toss it at the encased Rainbow Star at the yellow end to
become invincible. Beat up the Chain Chomps to make your life
easier. Now, bomb the case in the red area with the trapped Luma
inside and talk to him to create a Sling Star. Use it to reach a
Launch Star, then use that star to land amongst a bunch of Pull
Stars and a battlefield of mines. First get the 1-Up in the crate
under this platform, then use the Pull Stars cautiously to avoid
banging into the mines, which will drop Mario into space. If you
do touch any, quickly aim and get Mario attached to a Pull Star
before he falls further down. Grab the Life Mushroom and 1-Up if
you can, then head to the Launch Star in the upper left area. Take
the pipe here and spin into a moving Bob-omb, then toss it at the
encased cannon. Hop in the cannon and aim at the floating crystal.
Stay a little ahead of the crystal to time it right (aim next to
the crystal where it will float by the time you reach it) and press
A to launch Mario at it, freeing a Luma. Use another Bob-omb to
blast another cannon free and use it to aim & fire at a Launch Star
(which, luckily, stays still!). On the new planet, grab a Bob-omb
and run to the other end, tossing it at the (imagine this) encased
cannon. Hop in, wait for an open space between the moving
platforms, and fire at the star to nab it.

Star #3- Topmaniac and the Topman Tribe

The second platform here has a new enemy, a Mole. Stay far
enough way from him so he pops his head up. Ground pound
to stun it, then hop on it to defeat it. On the next platform,
use the Pull Stars to reach a Sling Star and use it. Avoid
the mines and use the Launch Star. The Topman here won't hurt
you, but can bump you off the edge or into hazards. Get the
Life Mushroom off the moving platform, then spin the Topman
into the electrical field to free the trapped Luma. Talk to
it to use its Launch Star. Spin into the boxes here and use
the pipe. Spin at the green arrow to change gravity's
direction, cleverly flipping Mario to a new platform. Head
right across the platforms to some lava and hop on the green
one to reach a tunnel and then spin at the next arrow to flip
gravity on its head again. Go left and avoid being pushed
into the downward gravity area. At the end, use the gap and
head right over the moving platforms. Notice that the red
ones can crush you. Use the trampoline at the end to
reach the pipe and use it. Off the next trampoline, use
the Sling Star to be lowered into the Battlerock. Spin both
Topmen into the electric fields and head through the opened
door to the Launch Star. Avoid the electricity to reach
the other end. Use the Luma Shop if you can afford 30
Star Bits for a Life Mushroom or 1-Up, then head up
to the central area to fight Topmaniac. This fight is
pretty straightforward. Jump on the flashing top of the
big boss, then spin it into the electrical field, standing
aside so you aren't buzzed either! Repeat this 2x, avoiding
the smaller Topmen to win the star.

Star #4- Secret Star- Battlerock's Garbage Dump

Re-enter Breaking Into the Battlerock to find this secret
star. Collect at least 30 Star Bits by using the Bob-ombs
to blast away the glass cases for extra ones. Use the Launch
Star and find the Hungry Luma in the yellow part of the next
planet. Feed the pink Luma and use the new Launch Star to
reach the littered planet. Talk to the robot to start a
mini-game. You have 30 seconds to toss Bob-ombs at the
clumps of garbage to blow them away. Each bomb takes 10
seconds to explode and you'll need to toss 5 bombs to
finish the game. Aim each bomb at the yellow lights between
the garbage piles. I usually start on the left side, then
the far right, and end in the middle. At least one chain reaction
of bombs should occur to win the game and the star.

    Two new mini-galaxies become available:

                                  *Rolling Green Galaxy*

Star #1- Rolling in the Clouds

This is an awesome level! Read the sign for tips on how to play, then
jump on the ball with the star inside. Hold the Wiimote upright and
tilt it forward and backward to move. The more you tilt it, the faster
you'll move. Roll forward & jump into the cannon to blast to a ledge.
You can defeat the Goombas by simply squashing them. Roll into the
hole to transfer onto a track that you'll roll down automatically.
Avoid the holes in the green platform and head down the safer left side.
At the fork, head in either direction (I tend to prefer the right) to
reach the last platform with a hole. Roll into it to blast the star
out of the glass case and atop a pole. Climb it to reach the star.

    Star #1- Shrinking Satellite

This is also a fun and very creative level. The planet is made up
entirely of green checkered tiles that disappear after a quick 2
seconds of stepping on them. You need to collect all the musical
notes on the tiles to get the star. Take the given path & get
the 1-Up. Stand and fall through the disappearing tile under the
? block and use the Launch Star. Now it's on! There is no one
solution to this part. I suggest staying on a single path and
try not to backtrack. If you miss a musical note, you can return
and try to jump & spin towards it. Once you touch the last musical
note, the planet is no longer hazardous. Fall off the thin wire
structure of the planet and get the star. You can't fall into space,
so keep trying to jump towards it.

                              *Bowser's Star Reactor*

    Star #1- The Fiery Stronghold

Head forward, jumping over the old-school fire bars, and over the gap
ahead for a 1-Up. When the Thwomp is up and the fire ceases, move
on past them (timing here is crucial). Use the gravity walls
carefully and hop on the ceiling, going past another fire bar, and
jump to the next platform. Once at the far right, jump back up
to the ceiling and right past a couple of obstacles all the way
to a bunch of stairs. Continue up to meet Bowser. How are ya, ma
man? Head up the stairs, avoiding the fireballs Bowser burps, and
spin into the crystal for a Life Mushroom. It's a lifesaver, so
make sure you nab it. Once at the top of the stairs, you & Bowser
gravitate to a nearby planet. This fight only has 1 stage, but it
has a few different attacks. Jump between the shockwaves Bowser
sends out, then find a blue glass circle to stand on. When Bowser
flies through the air, dodge him at the last minute so he crashes
into the glass and hits the lava underneath it. Then he'll head
around the planet. Meet him face-to-face and he'll turn around.
That's when you spin attack his tail and he'll roll around the
planet. When Bowser-ball (he, he) rolls your way, spin attack
again. Repeat the process as Bowser creates even more shockwaves
and starts spitting out fireballs. On the third hit, you'll need
to spin into him 2x. After three hits, you win a Grand Star.

Once you return to the Comet Observatory, head right to find the
Kitchen on the far right past the storybook building. If you head
right around the bottom of the kitchen building, you can nab a 1-Up.
Head left up the spiral staircase to reach the Kitchen.

    Star #1- Sunken Treasure

This star basically requires you to get 5 star chips...again.
Dive into the ocean with Z, then use A to swim, and shake the Wiimote
to twirl. Use the Control Stick, moving it down to go up & up to go
down (just like an airplane). Find (1) star chip under the dock where
you started the level, (2) just left of it, (3) in a clam on the far
right side, (4) just up from there by some eels, and (5) by spinning
a crate near the first one. Find the Launch Star in the middle of the
ocean and use it to reach the central tower. Do a backflip to reach
the ? coin and signal a series of musical notes. Collect them all
within the time limit, then pound the ! switch. Do a side flip (run
in one direction, then quickly turn back and press A) and spin in mid-
air to reach the temporary platforms. Head left & pound another !
switch, then wall jump between the two narrowly spaced walls to the
top. Spin attack the crystal 2x for the star.

A Hungry Luma appears by the Kitchen for getting this star. See my
Hungry Lumas section for more info. You need 600 Star Bits to
    access its galaxy.

Star #2- Passing the Swim Test

This star is really easy. Talk to the Penguin Coach to learn about
the golden koopa shell. Dive into the ocean once again and you'll
spot a string of penguins swimming around. The front one holds a
golden koopa shell. Spin attack near him to nab his shell (man,
Mario sure is mean!). Mario can swim very fast and somewhat out of
control here, so be careful not to bang into anything or he loses
it! When you reach the water's surface, he jumps out, so try to
reach the island where the Penguin Coach stands to receive a star.

Star #3- The Secret Undersea Cavern

Some penguins idly gossip about a cracked wall with a secret cave
(hence the title of this level). Dive into the ocean and find
a Koopa shell. Touch it or spin near it to grab it, then swim
to the left side deep in the ocean to a cracked wall with a penguin
standing guard. Spin to release the shell at the wall and bust it
open. That shell must be made of iron or something. Swim through
the tunnel and surface. Spin attack the crates near the fence
and head through the hole. Pound the stump and use the Launch Star.
Past the Thwomp is a series of Tox Boxes, Super Mario 64 enemies
that will crush you instantly if you don't stand in the safe zone
(the open-ended side of the Tox Box). Get the 1-Up first, then
head right after the first Tox Box. Jump to the rotating stone
platforms and make it quick, avoiding the water. Head right and
find a safe zone from the next Tox Box. Go right over the green
disappearing tiles and up past another Tox Box, then a Thwomp.
Spin attack the crystal 2x for the star.

Star #4- Secret Star- Wall Jumping Up Waterfalls

Re-enter The Secret Undersea Cavern. Dive in the ocean and get
a Koopa Shell, but this time, surface at the docks and head up
to the waterfall area. Go behind the falls and drop off at right
to a treasure chest. Break it open with the shell and use the
Launch Star. Find the harmless Cataquack (a duck creature) and
have it follow you back left to a shadow. It will launch you
up to a ? coin that activates a new Power-Up. Grab the ice
flower to become Ice Mario. Now you can walk on water, creating
a frozen path. Head up to the waterfalls and wall jump between
the leftmost ones and reach a Sling Star. By now you're back to
normal. Hop up to the platform with a purple Piranha Plant.
Lure it to slam the ground, then jump on it for an ice flower.
Use it and wall jump on the next waterfalls, then use another
Sling Star. Quickly wall kick the next waterfall and get into
another Sling Star. As Ice Mario, lure the Cataquack carefully
across a frozen path you make to the very back island at left and
    launch to the star.

                                   *Ghostly Galaxy*

Star #1- Luigi and the Haunted Mansion

Use the Launch Star under the Starshroom, then spin at the pillar
at right to get a Rainbow Star. Use it to beat up the pumpkin-head
Goombas, bats, and Chain Chomps on the path up ahead. Head forward
to enter the mansion. Spin attack the blue lever to turn on a
spotlight and lure the Boo to it by standing opposite the light
with your back to the Boo. Do the same thing by luring a Boo out
of the painting just up the stairs and collect the key it leaves.
Head upstairs and through the left door. There are 5 star
chips in this room and they move in different directions. Just
walk up the walls and on the ceiling to find them, then use the
Launch Star at left. You can see Luigi through the window at
left. Poor little guy. Head right now and jump down to the key,
quickly pulling yourself up by aiming at a Pull Star. Head right
through the door and get a ? coin at the left end for a Boo
Mushroom, another new Power-Up. Grab it to become Boo Mario.
You're a Boo with a little red Mario hat! Float by tapping A
and shake the Wiimote to briefly turn invisible to pass through
walls and other barriers. If you get attacked by an enemy or
touch light, you'll revert back to normal. Float up to the
painting at right and get the ? coin to earn a 1-Up. In the
left corner by the 1-Up, get see-through (shake the Wiimote)
by the wall, then head through the wall to a trampoline. Head
under the spotlight to return to normal, then use the trampoline
to hop over the wall left and talk to Luigi for the star.

After obtaining this star, you will receive occasional letters from
Luigi and by finding him, can collect Green Stars to access the
Trial Galaxies. See my Trial Galaxies section for more info. Check
with the mail Toad by Rosalina for his letters. You will also get
letters from Peach with 1-Ups! Be sure to talk to Luigi first to
    activate his travels :o)

Star #2- A Very Spooky Sprint

This star is pretty fun but also a bit tough. Again, use the
Launch Star under the Starshroom ship, and beat the enemies
using the Rainbow Star available at right. The walkway to the
mansion is gone, so use the Pull Stars in its place, then to
the Launch Star at the end. Approach the Big Boo to engage
in a race to the star. Use the Pull Stars and try aiming for
every other one (skipping over one) to get a good head start.
Avoid the bouncy rubber meat (he he...sounds like a bad cook's
dinner) and bones. Once you reach the Pull Star planets, you'll
have to walk a bit on each one, then head through the minefield.
Try long jumping once near the finish line. A funny story: I
was THISCLOSE to the Big Boo when I reached solid ground, so
I long-jumped a couple of times and bounced off his head across
the finish line to win! LOL :oD

    My Personal High Score: 1:08:03

Sometime soon, Mailtoad brings a letter from Luigi. Head back
to the Terrace and enter the Good Egg Galaxy. See Luigi's Stars
    for more info.

    Star #3- Beware of Bouldergeist

Use the Launch Star under the Starshroom ship, then head across
the restored walkway to the mansion. Lure the black Boo out
of the painting. This is a Bomb Boo, which you can control by
spin attacking it, then it will spin around you as you move
towards a target to blow up. Do this and bomb the Bowser statue
at left by a fireplace, then use the Launch Star. Use the moving
platform to reach a Sling Pod. Aim and fire to the next area and
another Sling Pod. Aim at the Sling Star and use it to reach a
Launch Star. Use Bomb Boos to blast the statues and get a 1-Up.
Use the Sling Pods and Sling Star to reach the 5 blue star chips.
Their locations are pretty obvious. Use the new Pull Stars to
reach the Launch Star. Bounce on the rubber ball planet, get the
1-Up and ground pound to spring up to the Launch Star. Buy a Life
Mushroom from the Luma Shop for 30 Star Bits, then head into the
arena to fight Bouldergeist. Oh, I get it...it's a boulder and a
poltergeist...yup, I'm a sharp one :oD Dodge its rock attack and
watch for black rocks that release Bomb Boos. Spin near them and
try to collect two for a double hit. Obviously, aim the Bomb Boo(s)
at Bouldergeist, and avoid the sharp rock walls he builds around
you. After 3 hits, he turns into a ghost with just eyes and a jaw.
Eerie. Bomb Boos appear from bits of black fog. Spin them into
the ghost just once for stage 2 of Bouldergeist.

Now he has hands that can crush or punch you, and can summon
1-2 rows of sharp rock pillars. Bee-yu-tuh-ful. Watch for the
pillar's shadows on the ground and move your buns before it
hits you. Again, get Bomb Boos to whack Bouldergeist. Avoid
bombing the hands, though it's hard to avoid sometimes. Two
hits on the hands will vanquish them, but they return after a
short time. 3 hits on Bouldergeist and he's a ghost again.
Bomb him once with a Bomb Boo and you earn the star.

Star #4- Secret Star- Matter Splatter Mansion

Re-enter A Very Spooky Sprint. Use the Launch Star under the
ship as usual, then spin attack the pillar above the one
that gives you a Rainbow Star for a Launch Star. Huh?!? Use
it to reach another (freakier) type of mansion. The floor
moves ahead and disappers behind you, so move quickly. Head
forward to find a key, which unlocks the door ahead. Get
the ? coin and head upwards, over a gap, and hit the ? block.
Head right over more gaps and hit the next ? block. Now,
head downwards and hit the last ? block, then go right &
downstairs. Jump to the door and get the key to open the
doors. Get the ? coin, then head upwards. Get the key
again to open several doors, one with a 1-Up. Head up
again and get the key, then the star from the middle door.

Star #1- Through the Poison Swamp

This one is pretty nifty. Yup, not cool, not hip, but NIFTY! You
move like a bubble boy. The toads have crashed their ship on this
swampy planet. Smart. Head right and jump to the next island,
avoiding the instant-death swamp water. Read the board for more
info on using the bubbles. Head inside one and aim the Wiimote
at the screen, pressing A to blow the bubble any way you want.
Blow carefully to avoid making stupid mistakes and this should
be a (bubble) breezy level. Head left in the bubble and get a
star chip. 4 more to find. Use the wind streams to reach (2)
and get the ? coin to outline a safe path with coins. Past the
fans, go forward to find (3) by the mines (which you are avoiding,
right?). Go forward into the wind stream to find (4), then left &
upwards for (5). Head down and right to find an island. Press Z
to pop out of the bubble and use the Launch Star. The board here
explains how the bubble will now also pop if it's squeezed between
two objects. Well, duh! Use the bubble here and follow the yellow
coin road. At the spinning log, wait to pass through safely, then
use the wind streams ahead. Pass 2 more logs and you'll reach an
island envitably. Pound the ! switch for a shortcut to open, then
use the bubble to head right; otherwise, head downwards, then left
via the arrows' directions. Lastly, head down to the island and

Surface and climb up to the platform, then up the yellow ones and left.
Wall jump here and avoid the water launchers and wall pushers. Wall
jump again when it's safe, then defeat the enemies here. Go under
2 Thwomps, and get the first blue star chip on top of the first one.
Not again! Find a green valve at left and spin atop it to turn off
the launchers, summoning a green Topman. Lure it to the white circle
against the wall and jump on it to spring up to the next platform.
Spin atop the blue screw here to make the platforms move. Grab the
blue star chip (2) and climb up the platforms for (3) near a Goomba
and (4) near the top on a separate pillar. At the very top, when you
find the trampoline enemy and a bunch of tiny yellow Topmen, use the
trampoline to reach (5) and the planet above via a Pull Star. Jump
over the shockwaves released to the top side and spin the screw on
the enemy. A water sphere...who woulda thunk? Dive down to get the

Magikoopa. Use the next cannon to aim & fire at yet another pole.
Slide down again and use the Luma Shop if needed (Life Mushroom is
best). Use the bridge ahead and spin the blue lever to move right,
avoiding the cannonballs and get the 1-Up. Spin the spiders at the
end, then use the Sling Star to reach Bowser Jr.

This is a fun fight. Avoid the cannonballs he fires at you and jump
on a Koopa Troopa for a shell. Spin to shoot the shell at the airship.
Now he'll summon Bullet Bills & a Magikoopa. I suggest beating the

Star #1- Bunnies in the Wind

Spin near the pink flowers to launch the seeds and jump to one to fly
into the air. You get 3 spins in mid-air to advance to the next planet,
otherwise you'll fall off the face of the universe. Repeat the process
to reach the 3rd planet and check for wind currents to boost the height
of your launch. Once you land, head to the underside and spin at the
green plant for a vine to appear and use it to reach the upper side.
Stomp on the Piranha Plant and use the next vine to get a 1-Up, then
use the last vine to head back where you were. Use the pink flowers
again to reach another planet and defeat yet another Piranha Plant at
far right for another vine. Use it, then do the same thing AGAIN
(grr...) and, finally, spin the green plant on the underside for a vine.
Run up to the top side and lure the big Piranha Plant by getting close
and dodging its crushing attack. Stomp its head and use the Launch Star.
Talk to the bunny within the hedge maze and chase it. Try getting ahead
by long jumping or shooting a Star Bit at it (which is really effective
if you're very close). Catch the waskally wabbit for a star.

Star #2- The Dirty Tricks of Major Burrows

Spin the pink flowers to reach the next planet, then use the wind
currents to reach the 3rd planet. Find the Monty Mole and wait
until he pops his head out of the ground. Ground pound to stun
him, then stomp or spin attack to defeat it. Use the Sling Star,
then repeat the process for 3 Monty Moles, and use the Launch Star
to reach a series of apple planets. Pound the tree stump to
activate a worm. Use it as a bridge to the next apple, and pound
the stump on the left for another worm bridge to the last apple.
Pound the stump farthest from the worm, and use it again to reach
a Launch Star. Pound the stump here for a Life Mushroom, then
use the next Launch Star to reach your next mini-boss, Major
Burrows, who is chasing a rabbit. Wait until he pops out of the
ground slightly and ground pound to stun him, then spin attack
him. Now he'll focus his anger on you! Repeat the process 2x,
his movements getting a lot quicker each time. The 3rd time
will require 2 ground pounds and then a spin attack to win
    the star.

Star #3- Gusty Garden's Gravity Scramble

Spin the pink flowers to reach the next planet, but this time
stick around here. Defeat the Piranha Plant at right and use
the vine it reveals. Beat another Piranha Plant for a vine
that leads to a Launch Star. Dodge the spiky plants and
boulders to reach another Launch Star. Now to collect some
star chips. Goody, what fun :oP At least you can't
fall off the planet as it will just pull you back in. Find (1)
underneath where you land, then use the pole to reach the upper
platform for (2). Underneath this platform, shimmy down the
lower pole and jump back to the first platform for (3). Back on
the second platform, climb up the pole on top and jump right to
find (4) around the edge. Climb the pole on the underside and
jump to (5), then use the Launch Star that appears. The next
series of platforms here can be tricky to figure out, especially
where it's safe to move. Jump up to the moving platforms and
spin at the green arrow to change gravity. Head up some more
and spin another arrow. Head up again and either dodge or ride
the rotating cube platform for a Life Mushroom. Head up some
more and spin the green arrow, then head down to the next arrow.
Spin that, then stick to the yellow platforms to avoid falling.
Watch out for cannonballs that will throw you off as well by
staying in the middle, then head right past more cannonballs and
spin the crystal 2x for a star.

Star #4- Secret Star- The Golden Chomp

Re-enter Gusty Garden's Gravity Scramble and use the pink flowers
ahead to start flying, but aim for the ? coin on the way to the
2nd planet. There are 3 in mid-air to touch. Once you land,
defeat the Piranha Plant for a vine to use and get the ? coin
automatically. Grab the last ? coin and defeat the Piranha Plant,
using its vine to get a Rainbow Star and use the Launch Star.
Defeat the enemies here, but be sure to whack the golden Chain
Chomp while invincible to get the star.

                                  *Freezeflame Galaxy*

Star #1- The Frozen Peak of Baron Brrr

The best thing about these somewhat difficult ice levels is that
Mario can skate like Gretzky. Find the penguin here and chase
him down by skating on the upper and lower sides of the ice ring.
Once you catch him, use the Launch Star that appears to reach the
starting point of a long journey to the top of a trecherous
mountain. Wipe off your snotsicles and let's get going. After
automatically sliding down, head right across the platforms and
get the ? coin to activate an ice flower. Like before, you
can walk on water, but also hop on water spouts situated almost
everywhere in this galaxy. Become Ice Mario and head to the
ledges at right. Hop across 2 spouts and go up (not right) to
the wall pushers. Wait until they retract to pass by and backflip
over the last one to head higher up. Spin at the crystal to head
downwards to a tippy platform. Head left across more platforms
to another ice flower. Wait until the wall pushers in the back
are on the right side before becoming Ice Mario to time it
perfectly. Head up and across the pushers to a Sling Star, then
quickly head across the spouts to the upper area with Baron
Brrr. Avoid the icy rocks he spits out and head around to the
left. Spin the crystals under the Baron's platform and get
the ice flower. Head back to the middle area and wall jump
to the top. Spin attack Baron Brrr in 3 sets of 2 spins each
to win. You can defeat him as normal Mario once your power
wears off. Just avoid the icy rocks and shockwaves and you'll
    win the star.

**Alternatively, instead, of going toward the ? coin, hop on top
of the snow-covered railing on the left side of the ice patch.
Carefully walk forward until the railing ends, then turn around
and do a high jump onto the rock in the middle of the ice water.
From there you can do another high jump onto the next platform.
(this may take a few tries, so make sure you don't freeze in the
water if you miss). On this platform there should be a ? coin,
and if you get it a sling star will appear for you. It'll shoot
you up much higher into the level, a nifty shortcut to getting to
Baron Brrr faster. You can also get to this sling star by getting
the Ice mushroom and then turning left and following the edge of
the water. There's an area for you to wall jump up.

    Star #2- Freezeflame's Blistering Core

You'll return to the ice ring from the last star level. Now
you need to find those blasted star chips again. Bah :oP
Find (1) and (2) in crystals near the start, and (3) across
from there. (4) and (5) are on the underside of the ice ring
near where you were on the top side. Use the Pull Stars to
reach a Launch Star and soar to...unseasonable heat?!? Head
over the gap, avoiding the @$!@#@ spiky balls and upstairs
left. Spin at the crates on the right and get the Life
Mushroom from the area by the left torch. Climb the nearby
pole and jump off to the sinking platforms. Hot-foot it to
a new area, and get the ? coin at left to make a fire flower
appear. Cool, a new power-up! Transform into Fire Mario,
which allows you to shoot fireballs at enemies and to light
torches. Like Ice Mario, it's only available for a short
time. Use it to light the nearby torch in the front of the
gate. By now the power-up wears off, so grab another one
and head through the gate left, lighting the next 2 torches.
Use the new stairs and hop up to the ceiling. Go across the
sinking platforms and get the fire flower at left. Light the
torch here and on the right side directly across from it. You
may need to refresh the power-up in the process. Wall jump the
new wall behind you and get flipped back right side up. Hop
across more platforms before they sink to the end and
head right to the fire flower. Return left and light 2
torches across the lava by standing atop the moving
platforms. Head through the cage area to get the star.

Star #3- Hot and Cold Collide

Skate across the ice ring, avoiding the lava and fiery
rocks. Spin at the crystal and flip to the underside,
then skate some more to reach another crystal. Spin
again and use the Launch Star. Welcome to rough
country. I really hate this part, so let's get it over
with. Avoid the rising tide of freezing water that
knocks off health points and head over to the upper
platform. Spin atop the green valve to open the door,
then head through it and left across the sinking
platforms to a tight area with several spiky balls.
Spin another green valve in the back right, then get
the fire flower adjacent to it by long jumping. Head
forward all the way back to the rising tide area and
light the 2 torches in the back, then use the Launch
Star. Use the ice flower to cross the lava blocks amongst
the icy ones. Grab each ice flower you come across to
refresh the power-up and try not to skate to stay
in control all the way to the star.

Star #4- Secret Star- Conquering the Summit

Re-enter The Frozen Peak of Baron Brrr. Hey...what
the?!? Nope, the Baron didn't sit on the top of
his mountain after all. Skate on the ice ring
and chase down the penguin again, then use the Launch
Star. Head right after the slide and get the ? coin,
then transform into Ice Mario. Head right to the
platforms like before and hop the water spouts.
Instead of going upwards, head right and triple jump
(that's pressing A 3x in a row while on the move)
across the next 3 spouts to reach a higher area.
Aha! Use the Sling Star, then spin at the crystals
at left for a fire flower. Blast the snowman across
the gap and those darn bats that can be real pests.
By now, the power-up will wear off, so go back
and get the fire flower again. Hop across the gap
and over the wall pushers to reach another snowman.
Destroy it with 2 fireballs and use the new Sling Star.
Get the fire flower behind the crystals, then
head right and avoid the boulders, destroying the snowman
over the gap. Head over there past the wall pushers. Defeat the bats
and refresh your power-up, then head over the gap to
another snowman. Melt it, then use the Sling Star,
and head up the narrow path. Hop to the brown block
and wait for the wall pushers to pull in before wall
jumping up. Get the star on the REAL summit.

Open up the "29" galaxy to continue.

Star #1- Soaring on the Desert Winds

Be aware that quicksand = instant death. Jump into a tornado and
shake the Wiimote to spin and fly to the next platform. Repeat
the process to land at a pipe. Take it dooooowwwnnnn. Pound the
brick blocks to drop to a sandy area. It's safe to cross, just
duck with Z to sneak through. When you reach the Thwomps, duck
with Z and head right, then dash under the Thwomps to get
a Life Mushroom. Use the gap and head right under another Thwomp
and atop the platforms to the blocks at right. Hop across the blocks
and get the fire flower from the ? coin. Blast the Piranha Plants
down the path and use the Sling Star before the boulder passes by,
making a Mario pancake. Use the Launch Star to reach the pipe, then
once outside, use the Launch Star to find an odd enemy--a bomb-chucking
chicken. Caw! Use the tornado to reach the upper platform and continue
to the sinky sand (not deadly...unless you let it carry you to the black
hole below). Use the next tornado to reach the blocks next to the
flowing sand. Head to the ledges at right and use the tornado to get the
? coin and activate 2 Sling Stars. Use either one, then fly via the
tornado to the glass area. Wall jump to the upper ledge, then at the
right gap, slide down the wall on the left, jumping to the ledge at
right. Wall jump some more to the upper area, then to the moving
box, and up. Head across the disappearing blocks and up. Use some
more disappearing/reappearing blocks across the sinky sand to reach the
star. Spin the crystal 2x to claim it.

A Hungry Luma appears by the Bedroom for getting this star. See my
    Hungry Lumas section for info.

Sometime in here, Mailtoad will have a new letter from Luigi in the
Honeyhive Galaxy. See my Luigi's Stars section for more info.

Star #2- Blasting Through the Sand

Jump to the bigger platform and get the coin to make five Pokey heads
appear. Wait until they make their last jump before pounding you to
spin attack and beat all 5 at once. That activates a giant Pokey.
Spin attack it 3x, the last just being its head, and use the Launch
Star. Jump to the area where the boulders are circling, then to
the Sling Star. Use the mid-air Sling Star to reach a sinky sand
area. Head to the other side and use the next Sling Star. Get (1)
blue Star Chip here, then slide down the
sandy river and slow up by jumping to get (2) on the way. Stop at
a platform with (3) encased in crystal. Slide into (4) on the way
to the next platform with a treasure chest and use the Koopa Shell
from the first platform to open it for (5). Use the Pull Stars above
and then shake the Wiimote to drop. Head right, long jumping across
the sinking platforms to the Launch Star. Head through the hole in
this platform to reach the underside (or is it the topside?). Head
past the tornados with googly eyes (?!?) and across the narrow ledges
under the Thwomp and cross using the red moving platform to the next
hole. Head right over more thin ledges to another hole. These
tornados have big rocks circling around them which can hit you
and knock off health points, so avoid them as you approach a tower.
Climb up to a switch and pound it to start a timer. Backtrack
through the hole platform. Use a tornado as a shortcut to the left
area that you passsed by earlier and climb up quickly to the star.

    Star #3- Sunbaked Sand Castle

Pound the switch at the start to rise the platform you're standing
on. Be cautious around the pillars that can crush you instant-death
like. Get the Life Mushroom and 1-Up if you can, then use the
Launch Star. This can be very annoying...Get (1) Star Chip,
then pound the blue switch. As the castle in the middle rises, find
    (2) by the blue switch, (3) by the Dry Bones on a narrow ledge, and
    (4) by wall jumping near the top of the castle, then dropping to a
small ledge at left.. Find a Koopa Shell at the bottom, then pound
the red switch to revert the castle. Toss the Koopa Shell at a
treasure chest sitting on a ledge just to the right for (5) and use
the Launch Star. Spin a coconut at the spiky plant and use the
Launch Star. Ignore the Pokey and use a Sling Star on the underside.
Spin a coconut on the the last planet, then use the Sling Star to head
back. Spin the coconut at the Pokey, then jump on its head to use
another Launch Star. Drop to the sandy ground and spin the crate to
use a pipe. Inside the glass castle, spin the crate and begin
forward. The castle will start to sink, leaving Mario victim to
the crushing pillars and such on the way to safety. Gulp. The
camera angles can be hard to follow, but the controls are the
same. Keep heading left, jumping over pitfalls and spin at
any crates on the way. Some junctions may require
the sand to be a tad higher, so keep trying if you get stuck.
At the end, climb up a bit & you get the star.

Star #4- Secret Star- Bullet Bill on Your Back

Re-enter Sunbaked Sand Castle. Pound the switch again and avoid
the crushing pillars (again). At least get the Life Mushroom here.
Use the Launch Star, and collect the 5 star chips as you did
before. Use the Launch Star once you get them.
This time, pound the stump and get the musical notes to use a
new Launch Star. Like the castle with the star chips, you need
to pound switches to make the encased star appear and lure the
Bullet Bills to it. First, get a Bullet Bill to stalk you, then
quickly pound the blue switch to lower the sand. Find the encased
star and get the Bullet Bill to smash it for the star. Definitely
easier said than done. A trick I find useful is to try to get 2
Bullet Bills to follow you in case one hits another glass case
or a Dry Bones enemy...or the ground :oP But here's the BEST
trick I learned recently: When the castle is up, stand on the
raised red switch and do backflips & spins to lure a Bullet Bill
down to you. Since the red switch is directly across from an
opening in the cannon, the Bullet Bill should spot you, then
just head a bit left to the encased star to get it. Pound the red
switch to lower the castle & collect the star.

Star #5- Secret (Green) Star- Treasure in the Pyramid

Re-enter Blasting Through the Sand. Begin collecting as many Star
Bits as you can. Head to the big platform and defeat the Pokey
heads all at once with a spin attack. Spin attack the big Pokey 3x
and use the Launch Star. Head to the underside and approach the
Hungry Luma. Feed it 20 Star Bits to create a pyramid. Sweet ^_^
Use the Launch Star, then the pipe to get inside it. Now to find
5 silver stars. Spin the crystal here for (1), then head left.
Stepping on the long green switches shifts the sand, so don't get
squished by the shifting walls. Find (2) in a crystal as you move
upwards. Head right when you can and spin the crystal for (3). Head up
onto the ceiling and find the green switch at right. Get (4) in
a crystal in the immediate right. At the bottom area, activate the
sand upwards and go all the way right to (5) in a crystal. Get the
    Green Star at the bottom.

If you've followed my walkthrough, you should have gotten 3 Green
Stars by now and can now access the Trial Galaxies. After Rosalina's
explanation, head down towards the Garage and use the green Launch
Star nearby. See my Trial Galaxies section for more info.

make some move. Keep climbing up and use the Launch Star at the
end. This time, climb while avoiding the flying boulders and use
the next Launch Star. Climb some more and avoid or fly over the
bugs. DO NOT POUND THEM! Use the moving honeycombs, then follow

Star #1- Darkness on the Horizon

Head across the platforms, avoiding the dark purple matter (that's
some dangerous instant-death goo). Now head over several moving
platforms and right to the gravity-changing area. Pay attention
to where you stand as flipping can be hazardous to Mario's health
(or rather life & death). On the ceiling, jump to the L-platform
and stand in the bottom left to stay safe. See how you flip?
Jump to the red platform and ride it to another L one. Stay on
the top left this time, then you'll flip and you can jump off to
a safe, no-gravity zone. Climb the pole and you'll see rotating
holes on this platform, so obviously avoid those. There are puddles
of dark matter covering some areas of moving platforms. Avoid the
puddles as you head right to some circling platforms. Long jump
to avoid the goo, then head right and upwards to Gravity Part II.
Use the blue platform to reach a sort-of-F platform, then to a +
platform. Stand in the top left until you flip, then in the bottom
left until you flip again, then in the bottom right. On the next
block (an L), stand in the top left until you flip to land safely.
Take the rising platform and break the crystal to free the Luma.
Use the stairs to reach another Luma and get the Life Mushroom.
At the next set of stairs, your fight with Bowser commences...
well, sort of. You fly to another planet and THEN it commences.
The first stage is the same as last time. Avoid the shockwaves
and fireballs, AND avoid his new attack--a swish of his tail
that can knock you on your bum quick-like. Find a blue glass dome
to stand on and dodge Bowser as he crashes through to the hot
lava. Spin attack the tail when he turns his back on you, then
spin attack Bowser-ball as he rolls back at you. Watch where he
spins, because he can change his plane of direction. Spin him
2 more times to get the Grand Star.

When you land, a few bunnies are looking for blue star chips. What
a coincidence that Mario showed up! Head left and around a wabbit
to a ledge. Cross it, then wall jump to the top for (1) by the
Piranha Plants. Drop off the ledge to find a trio of stumps
surrounding a wabbit ('scuse my lissssp). Pound all 3 stumps and
use the Sling Star to reach (2). Drop off at right to the ledge
behind the waterfall. Break the crate at right for (3), then head
back down to the start of the level. Head right this time and
shake at the flower to reach the upper ledge. Transform into
Bee Mario and fly up to the purple flower. Pwetty fwoer (okay,
I'll stop with the Elmer Fudd jokes now). Fly up again to a ledge
and use the trampoline at left to get (4). At the waterfall's
upper ledge, fly to the higher ledge at left and up to the cave
where the boulders pop out. Fly up above it, then fly to the upper
right ledge where you'll just barely make it up there. Get (5) on
thefountain, obviously losing the bee costume. Head back down to
the beginning of the level and use the new Pull Stars to reach the
Launch Star. Now to chase another dang bunny. You can pound the
switches to set up wall barriers, but I just find it makes your job
harder. If you get close, try aiming your Wiimote at the bunny
and shoot a Star Bit at it to slow it down. Once you nab the
    rabbit, you get the star.

Star #2- Cataquack to the Skies

Head left past the boulders and use the Cataquack here to reach a
Sling Star. On the new ledge, transform into Bee Mario and find
a nearby pen with 2 Cataquacks. Have one spring you up and fly
to get extra momentum to reach the upper left ledge. Use another
Cataquack to reach the next ledge above with a switch. Pound it
for Star Bits. Follow the narrow path behind the waterfall to
the next ledge and use the Launch Star. Look for a Cataquack
symbol and trace a path from a Cataquack to there to be launched
to the nearby planet. Repeat the process here to reach a narrow
strip planet. Have the last Cataquack launch you at the end to a
Launch Star. Defeat the Moles and pink enemies here to clear
some space for the Cataquack. Have him launch you within the
grass to reach a Bee Mushroom. Use the Cataquack again to launch
and fly to the jagged tower at left. Fly across the platform
and flowers to get the star.

Star #3- When It Rains, It Pours

Head left up the path and side flip or wall kick & spin atop the
boulder cave. Get the Bee Mushroom on the cloud and obviously
avoid the rainwater as you do this. Shake the Wiimote at the
flower by the series of purple ones to fly atop the cloud.
Fly across a bunch of them to the deck. Use the swing to
reach the cloud nearby, then fly to each of the following ones
to the platform. Use the trampoline at the end of the narrow
    paths, then use the swing
to reach the left side. Avoid the rain pouring down from the
cloud here and use the trampoline at right to reach the upper
ledge. Quicky hide from the rain, then ride the cloud to
another ledge with a trampoline. Use it to head further up, and
pound the block at right. Use the vine to reach the very top where
a Monty Mole in a cannon awaits. If you're still Bee Mario, this
will make your job much easier. Just fly atop the glass dome
of the cannon and pound it 3x to win. If you lose your costume,
pound the red switch around the cannon to raise the platforms
and reach the glass dome. Obviously, avoid the spikes between
the platforms and the bubbles if you want to just fly up to
    beat the Monty Mole.

Star #4- Secret Star- The Bell on the Big Tree

Re-enter Cataquack to the Skies. Head left and have the Cataquack
launch you into the Sling Star. Head around to the right side of the tree
and use the bubble to float up and hit the bell (either try to hit it in
the bubble, or press Z to burst it, then backflip & spin at the bell) to
summon a series of musical notes. Float into each within the time limit
    to win the star.

    Star #1- Going After Guppy

Oddly enough, Guppy is a goofy-looking shark. Cue the Jaws theme
*duh duh, duh duh, duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh*. Approach
the shark to start a race, except the object is to swim through
all 8 rings he leaves behind. If you skip a ring, you need to go
back and get it, otherwise you'll start over again; the same thing
happens if you're too slow in reaching a ring. The ring will start
to blink if you're going too slow. Use the Koopa Shell to swim faster
and avoid the eels, hot air, and whirling seaweed. The locations of
the rings are pretty obvious. Once you go through all 8 rings, you'll
    win the star.

Star #2- Faster Than a Speeding Penguin

Talk to the reddish penguin by the finish line to start the race.
Now you'll have to beat 5 penguins in a race to the finish. They
get a good head start as Mario is a REALLY SLOW swimmer. Dive down
and get the Koopa shell to speed up. Head forward and avoid the
whirling seaweed. Use the rightmost tunnel to proceed and through
the gates that leave a gap on the bottom as they open & close.
Head through the 2 rings following this to boost your speed, then
make a turn and you're done! It's not too hard to win, but it
might take a couple of tries.

    My Personal High Score: 1:21:36

A Hungry Luma appears by the Engine Room for getting this star. See
my Hungry Lumas section for more info.

Star #3- The Silver Stars of Sea Slide

Yup, they're back, and they're really scattered this time. Swim
ahead to the small island and transform into Bee Mario. If at any
time you touch water, get the Bee Mushroom back, because you
definitely need it throughout this level. Fly up to the tree here,
then to the cloud, and to the arch for (1). Fly to the next palm
tree, then to another arch, and to the sandy beach. Head left and
use the cannon. Aim for the Starshroom ship, then use the Pull
Stars to get (2), then use the Sling Star to head back. Fly to
the next island, then to the dock by the lighthouse. Head right
and fly atop the palm tree. Fly straight up above the tree for
(3). Now jump into the ocean ahead and get the Koopa Shell underwater
to speed things up. At the stone structure, use the
Sling Star to return to the start of the level. It might seem
like a wasted trip, but it's easier to return this way than to
head all the way back. Get the Bee Mushroom, then fly back and
around the opposite way to the pillar just before the big tree.
Fly to the closest bough, then to the next two on the left, and
then up & right. Keep heading up to the top of the tree for (4).
Jump into the ocean and swim left to the stone structure from before.
Spin atop the green valve to release a jetstream of water, then
hop in to ride it to a sandy planet. Head up to the old penguin
and get (5), then use the Launch Star to head back. Use the
Sling Star to reach the beginning of the level and get the star.
    Finally!

Star #4- Secret Star- Hurry, He's Hungry

Re-enter The Silver Stars of Sea Slide. Begin collecting lots
of Star Bits, at least 40. Swim to the beach ahead and feed
the Hungry Luma by the cannon to access a new planet--another
disappearing tile planet. It's much easier if you're Bee Mario.
Now you need to collect every musical note on each and every tile.
Use the same strategy as before by sticking to a single path until
you hit a dead end, then switch to a new path. If you get really
stuck, fly to the closest path to start again. Once you get the
last musical note, the planet is impossible to fall off of and you
    can drop to the star.

    Star #1- Heavy Metal Mecha-Bowser

This galaxy is one of my favourites. The look of the planets alone
is really creative. Hop on a train when it approaches and use
the Launch Star. You'll meet a new enemy here called
a Mechakoopa, which you can defeat with a single ground pound.
Head up & along the pink walls, then to the new area past the robot. Spin
the screw on the blue area and drop down. Next to the trampoline down
there, spin the blue screw, then bounce back up. Before using the
bridge, backtrack to the 2nd robot and spin the nearby screw. Go
right to the wall and past the lasers along the wall to the rotating fan.
Jump to the screw in the middle and spin it to stop its movement. Head
left to another screw and spin it to release the bridge, then backtrack
down to the bridge and up to the Launch Star. Head across the moving
conveyor belt and get the ? coin to unleash a new Power-Up. Get the
Spring Mushroom to turn into Spring Flower Mario...nah, just kidding...
Spring Mario bounces constantly, never stopping until an enemy attacks
or you touch water. By holding A, you can bounce even higher, a super-
spring if you will. Wall jumping sure is fun with Spring Mario :oD
Head towards the robot and super-spring up to the platform, then head
across the conveyor belt towards a laser enemy. Spring on an angle to
the next conveyor belt to avoid him, then right & super-spring to the
top and a Launch Star. Spring atop the bottle, then pound the stone
& use the Launch Star. Now to conquer Mecha Bowser. It's like a
Bowser action figure :oD Wall jump up the left leg and spin the
screw, then use the pipe to reach the right leg. Spin the screw here
to really begin disabling the robot, and use the Sling Star. On the
torso, spin all 4 screws while dodging the fire bar, then use the pipe
that appears below. Head up his arm and spin the screw, then use the
Launch Star quickly before you fall off. On the head, transform into
Spring Mario and head up, avoiding the enemies and fireballs, then
super-spring to the nose. Dodge the lasers and head up to the
top of the head. Pound the stack of blocks to disable Mecha
    Bowser and get the star.

    Star #2- Mario Meets Mario

Use the train to reach the Launch Star. Once again, time to
collect star chips. At right, get (1) from atop the laser
enemy, then head to the green block with a crystal. Break it
for (2), then use the trampoline to get (3). Head left onto
the big screw and get (4) from the blue screw. Spin it to
raise the opposite end of the giant screw. Head to that
side on the tip for (5), then use the Launch Star that appears
nearby. You'll soon reach...yourself?!? This is an awesome
part! You probably already know that red blocks are lava, green
blocks are disappearing tiles, and you'll soon figure out that
yellow ones begin turning. The goal is to find all 5 silver
stars on this treacherous terrain. It's really not that bad.
    (1) is on the right side of yellow blocks, (2) on the left
side of yellow blocks, (3) on the next area of yellow blocks,
    (4) in the top left area, and (5) by the yellow blocks off
Mario's "eyes". Head all the way back to the starting block
for the star. My best advice is to long jump to skip over
blocks that can remain safe for several treks over the blocks,
especially on the way back to get the star. The green tiles
can't be tread over more than once, but the yellow ones are
workable if they are flat when you jump, so timing is crucial.

Star #3- Bouncing Down Cake Lane

A quick note: This level is guaranteed to make you crave
    dessert :oD

Ride the train to the Launch Star, then transform into Spring
Mario. Wall jump easily with a single super-spring and let him
do the rest of the work. Head right over the conveyor belt and
(yummy) chocolate way down to the cake plate. Sping onto the cake and
over the fork to the rotating cake. Head left against the rotation
direction over the gaps, then go around the two vertical
forks to reach the Sling Star. Atop the ice cream cone, grab
the popsicle stick pole and jump from one to the next onto
the rotating lollipops (!) Jump over the shockwaves to reach
an icy area and jump (DON'T SKATE!) on the steps, then hop to
the closest lollipop. Dodge more shockwaves, then head around
the stone building to the crystals. Spin at them, then wall jump
and collect the Life Mushroom. Use the cannon, aim at the Launch
Star, and fire away. Climb the spoon platforms against the cake,
then spin at each candle flame (5 total) to snuff them out, and
use the Launch Star. Time to fight another Monty Mole in a cannon.
These guys really should quit their day job :oP Use the Spring
Mushroom to super-spring atop the glass dome & pound it. Avoid
the surrounding fire blasters, Mechakoopas, and electric balls
he shoots out. On the 3rd hit, time it so you aren't shocked by
the electrified cannon! Now you can collect the star atop the
    cannon by super-springing.

Star #4- Secret Star- The Flipswitch Chain

Re-enter Mario Meets Mario. Use the train to reach the Launch
Star as usual and begin collecting Star Bits with a goal of 50!
Find the Hungry Luma atop the rounded blue platform. Feed it the
Star Bits and use the new Launch Star to reach a new planet. Every
blue switch now needs a hand (or rather, a stepping foot) to change
it to yellow. Obviously, watch the Tox Boxes for a safe zone while
doing this. Head right to activate the first switch, then another
one nearby underneath. Backtrack to the start for the 3rd, then jump
over the robot to another area with more Tox Boxes and spike-lined
moving platforms roaming about. Head down over 3 switches, then
3 more past the moving platforms. Head back up now, and hit 3
more by the platforms near a pipe. Head down again to the last
3 switches by even more platforms. Jump atop the nearby orange block
    for the star.

Star. Get the Life Mushroom on the left platform nearby, then cross
    the sinking platforms
to a couple of enemies shooting coconuts. Spin at them to defeat
them, then use the Launch Star for a rematch with King Kaliente.
This time, he will shoot both fireballs and ice rocks, with
meteors dropping from above. The strategy remains the same: spin
at the green coconut he shoots out and remember to spin it again
if King Kaliente bops it back at you. Hop quickly on the platforms
as they sink if you stand on them too long. Repeat this 2x to win
    the Grand Star.

Use the cannon and aim for the left planet, setting the crosshairs
on the Rainbow Star if you can. If you hit the star, you can knock
out the pink rock-shooting enemies here easily. Get the Fire Flower,
then quickly use the Sling Star to head back, then light two torches
at the gate to open it. Defeat the Magikoopa, then dive down in the
river ahead to a ledge with a blue Toad and a Star Bit arrow. Spin
the blue lever to open another gate, then swim up to another blue
lever. Spin it, then surface. Use the stairs to reach the ghost
ship where you will fight a new, improved (yeah, right) mini-boss,
Kamella. Again, she's a giant Magikoopa who will summon fireballs,
2 other Magikoopas, and a Koopa Shell. When she shoots out the
shell, spin it to grab it, then aim and fire at her. After the 2nd
hit, she will move up to the lookout deck above. Head left and climb
the pole, then jump right to the much smaller fighting area. If the
other Magikoopas get annoying, clear them out first, then bop Kamella
2 more times to win the star.

    Star #2- Bubble Blastoff

Defeat the Monty Mole who has taken over the cannon by pounding on
the glass dome or kicking coconuts at him. 3 hits and he's toast!
Use the cannon and once again, aim at the left planet, getting the
Rainbow Star if possible. Get the Fire Flower, then use the Sling
Star and light 3 torches this time by the gate to activate an Ice
Flower. Use it, then run across the river, and hop up 4 spouts, then
jump to a pole. Climb it, then head left and down to another pole.
Jump to a nail to swing and propel yourself left. Get the ? coin
to summon 5 Sling Stars, and use any one of them to reach a bubble
launcher. Use a bubble to reach a platform, then head left and down
to another bubble. Once you land, drop off at left, avoid the fire
launchers, and climb up 2 poles. Avoid the fire bar and use the
bubble to launch to a new planet. Dodge the bouncing fish and pound
3 stumps to activate the bubble launcher. Use it to reach the
last planet--a weird one at that. Jump over the shockwaves and pound
when a tennis ball rolls under you to create a watermelon (?!?) inside.
Keep doing this 3x until the glass dome breaks and you get the star.

Star #3- Guppy and the Underground Lake

Head forward through the already-opened gate and dive into the river.
Swim towards Guppy, that gullible shark, and he will challenge you
to another 8 ring race. This race is a bit tougher, and the same
rules apply--miss a ring and you lose; swim too slowly and you lose.
Get a Koopa Shell to swim faster, keep up with Guppy, and it shouldn't
be too bad. The rings' locations are pretty obvious. When you get
the 8th ring, the star appears by the sunken ship.

Star #4- Secret Star- Boo in a Box

Even though the ? is on the first star level, re-enter Guppy and the
Underground Lake instead. Dive into the river like
before, but this time ignore Guppy and find a Koopa Shell. Swim
over to the sunken ship with a bunch of mines guarding it. Aim
and fire the shell at the mines to blow 'er up REAL good! Use
the Launch Star that appears to reach a puzzle of sorts. It's
Mario v. Boo & Spiky Ball. First, swing from a nail to the
gravity arrow and spin. Then, use the trampoline to reach
another arrow and spin. Use the bubble and spin yet another
arrow. Spin into the crystal to release a light beam and
lure the Boo into it to release the star. Use the bubble
to reach the last gravity arrow and spin to find it.

    Star #1- Infiltrating the Dreadnought

Rush between the lasers and keep heading up, dodging lasers and
shockwaves to the top of the building and use the purple trampoline
enemy to reach the Launch Star.
Defeat all enemies here to activate a pipe and use it. Head
right and wait for the walls to retract before continuing. Wall
jump as the next set of walls gets close, and head left once atop
them for a Life Mushroom. Now head right and dash across the 3
crushing wall pieces when they're all down. Spin the gravity arrow,
then wall jump between the crushing walls. Head across the cannons and
2 more platforms and spin another gravity arrow. Time this next move
carefully by using the trampoline when the walls are furthest apart
and the cannonballs are gone. Push to the right side to land, then
use the trampoline enemy to reach another ledge at right avoiding
an onslaught of cannonballs. Use the trampoline to reach the pipe
and return to our reguarly scheduled programming. Ahem...dodge
the Bob-ombs and jump on the green Topman to use him as a trampoline
and reach the upper ledge. Do this a few more times to head up
to 2 walls moving up & down. Wall jump along with them to the top
and use the Launch Star. Next, use the Sling Star on the other side
to reach another planet. Head down to find an encased jetstream.
Lure a Bullet Bill to that case to break it and overflow the planet.
Head up on a ledge that is just on the surface of the water with a
Mechakoopa. Head right, dodge the lasers, and reach another platform.
Dodge more lasers and jump ahead to the ledge with the star.

    Star #2- Dreadnought's Colossal Cannons

Head up to the screw and stay on the right side, long jumping to
reach the platform as you move ahead. Dodge the Chain Chomps and
step on all blue switches to turn them yellow. When you hit the last
one, the electric barriers disappear. Head to the next set of
switches and repeat the process to stop the rolling Chain Chomps
and the electric barrier again. Head up to the big screws,
staying on the right side of each to move ahead. Spin attack
the coconuts to defeat 2 enemies and lower the bridge to reach
the Launch Star. Jump to the platform ahead which will start
moving through an electric field with cannonballs firing every
which way. Dodge all cannonballs and jump over the electric
barriers as they appear. Jump to the next moving platforms,
letting gravity do its magic, and dash under the Thwomp when you
come to it. At the very end of the level, avoid the shockwaves
and jump to the right purple trampoline enemy to get the star.

Star #3- Revenge of the Topman Tribe

Jump on the green Topman to reach a Sling Star and use it. Spin
2 red Topmen into the electric fields to free the trapped Luma
and summon another Sling Star. Pound the red switch to activate
5 blue star chips. Oy...it never ends! Find (1-4) on the sides
of the cube-shaped platform and (5) by using the green Topman
as a trampoline. Use the Pull Stars that appear to reach a
Launch Star. Under the silver bullet you land on is a Life
Mushroom. Navigate the minefield by using the Pull Stars
and avoid the cannonballs to reach the end. Getting into the
Launch Star here can be tricky, so try pushing the Control Stick
in its general direction and moving between Pull Stars in mid-air.
When you get close, shake the Wiimote to pull Mario into it.
Avoid the shockwaves on the long path ahead to a Launch Star.
Head up to start a rematch with Topmaniac. The fight is the
same as before--just jump on him to retract its spikes and spin
it into the electric barrier. Avoid the red Topmen and spin at
Topmaniac 2 more times to win the star.

Star #4- Secret Star- Dreadnought's Garbage Dump

Re-enter Revenge of the Topman Tribe. Head to the underside of
the planet you start on to find a pipe. Use to find another
garbage dump with a robot janitor. Like before, you have 30
seconds to toss Bob-ombs at the garbage piles. Aim each
Bob-omb at the yellow lights among the garbage. It's tougher
than the last time, but you should be able to start a chain
reaction at least once. Be quick, but get the Bob-omb as
close as possible to each yellow light or it won't blow up
all the garbage in its area. If you get it all done, you
    win the star.

Star # 1- The Sinking Lava Spire

Head across the lava-infested area and, when the lava geysers are
down, jump across to the next area. Dash across the sinking
platforms to a big structure. When the hot air geysers are down,
head right and pound the switch. Wait until the next set stop,
then wall jump up to the top. Use the next 2 Sling Stars, then
the Launch Star over the volcano to witness a great explosion.
Collect lots of Star Bits! Use the next Sling Star and head to
the topside of the next planet. Use the Pull Star path, timing
it to avoid the small bursts of fire coming from the sun planets.
Use the Launch Star at the end, then the next one in mid-air.
Use the Sling Star to find a broken up area with lots of lava
and fiery rocks with 5 star chips. Get (1) at left immediately,
    (2) off the geisers at right, (3) along the left by more geisers,
and (4) and (5) at the end of the path ahead. Use the Launch
Star that appears to the actual spire mentioned in the title
of this level. Head across the sinking platforms to reach it...
and it will start to sink. Oh snap. Quickly head around to the
right, and avoid the falling rocks. Pound the switch to lower the
wall, then wall jump up to the next area and head left to finally
reach the top. Spin the crystal 2x to nab the star.

A hungry Luma appears by the Garden for getting this star. See my
    Hungry Lumas section for info.

Star #2- Through the Meteor Storm

Obviously you'll need to dodge falling meteors this time around.
Head over to two torches and lure the fiery rock enemies to light
them both and use the Launch Star. Dash under the Thwomps and
over the gaps. A 1-Up under a Thwomp is in a safe zone, so you
can grab it. Keep heading right to another Launch Star. Now
for the 5 star chips show. Heeeeeeeeeeere's...annoyance! Use
the platforms carefully to get all 5: (1) is found at left by
breaking a crate, (2) in the bottom right by a Life Mushroom in
a crystal (which you should nab), (3) on an island up ahead, (4)
just ahead of the last one, and (5) just left of the last one.
Head back a bit to use the Launch Star. Defeat all the enemies
once you land to make this next part easier. Lure a Bullet Bill
to crash into the encased Launch Star and use it. All right...
a roller ball! This one's not too bad. Jump on the ball to
start and roll it carefully along the path, over the moving
platforms and jumping over the holes in the tublar structure.
Towards the end, jump to the moving platforms, then higher
up to the hole by the flag. Climb the pole to reach the star.

    Star #3- Fiery Dino Piranha

Remember Dino Piranha? I guess you didn't QUITE wipe him off
the face of the earth...I mean universe :oD Head up as usual
across the sinking platforms, this time along the right side
following the lava geisers and climb the wall ahead to reach a
pipe. Use it, then the Sling Star ahead. Defeat ALL the fiery
rock enemies to summon the Launch Star. Dodge the flaming
streams and hop the gaps to the next Launch Star. Nooooooo....
more star chips. Bah :oP Find (1-3) on the underside, and
(4-5) on the topside, using the lowest and highest platforms
(respectively) to reach them. Get the Life Mushroom, then use
the Launch Star on the high end. Use the Sling Stars across
the sinking platforms to the end. Since you got a free Life
Mushroom, you can probably ignore the Luma Shop, unless you're
short on lives and need a 1-Up. It's 30 Star Bits as usual.
Use the Launch Star just right of the Luma to reach your mini-
boss, Fiery Dino Piranha. This time he comes equipped with
fireball firing action! Like last time, spin attack the nut
on the end of his tail 4x, but wait for the fire to dissolve
first. You might lose health points here, so get coins from
the crystals if you can. He's harder than before but not too
bad. Beat him and you win the star.

Star #4- Secret Star- Burning Tide

Re-enter The Sinking Lava Spire. Start collecting Star Bits
right away (at least 80). Most of them will come from the
volcano ahead, but get as many as you can before then. Head
across the sinking platforms and wall jump up the structure
to the Sling Star. Use the next 2 stars and get LOTS of
Star Bits from the exploding volcano. Use the Sling Star
to find the Hungry Luma. If you have less than 70 Star
Bits, quit now and start the level over again. If you have
70-79 Star Bits, get the last 10 that circle the 2nd sun
ahead, but don't go any further ahead or you won't be able
to backtrack. Feed the Hungry Luma on the planet here and
use its Launch Star to reach a new planet. The tide is
actually lava and the path gets absorbed as the tide ebbs
and flows. You need to collect 5 silver stars. Try getting
the Life Mushroom around here to give you an advantage. All
5 silver stars are in small white safe zones surrounded by
temporarily safe brown paths that you will need to carefully
step onto, then retreat to white safe zones when the tide
returns. (1) star is up a pole, (2) is among two circles of
geysers, (3) is on a white platform, as is (4) and (5) is
on top of a rotating fire bar. Once you get all 5 stars, the
Power Star appears in...a non-safe zone. Crap...Wait for the
tide to lower, then quickly get it before it comes back.

    Star #1- Watch Your Step

Yup, you've seen this before. This time, the platforms appear
and disappear more randomly. Head through the area to a pipe
and use it. Wall jump to the ledge in the upper right, then
wall jump again to the upper left. Follow the path left, then
back right as the matter changes direction. Wall jump yet again,
then left to another pipe. Transform into Spring Mario here and
get the ? coin to shift the matter's direction upwards. Spring
along the platforms, then onto a solo one very near the top. Use
the Sling Star at the end to a dark area with more (dis)appearing
matter. Be careful and slowly follow the emerging path. It's best
if you just go with the flow, but if you need direction, go straight,
then left, jumping to the platforms. Go forward down the middle, then
left & straight to the Magikoopas. Avoid or beat them, then keep
left whenever possible. Head right all the way, then long jump left
and head up to the star. Whew!

Now you are officially finished Mario's stars in the Comet Observatory.
With 102 stars in hand, talk to Rosalina to reach the final boss
    galaxy...as Mario that is ;o)

Star #1- The Fate of the Universe

Head up into the blue spotlight and follow it up the wall, using
its gravitational pull. Head right onto another spotlight, then
again until you reach a new path. Use the next spotlights while
dodging the fire bars. Jump carefully so you don't hop out of its
gravity and into the black hole. Get the 1-Up if you can, then drop
down to the path below. Use the next 2 spotlights to head up, dodge
the fire bars, and use the giant spotlight to reach a new planet.
Head across the sinking platforms, avoiding the streams of fire
and use the big spotlight at the end.

In a repeat of Space Junk Galaxy, head right as the blocks form
ahead of you. Step quickly as they disappear after a short while,
and stay on the path without lingering. Head left and upstairs to
the big spotlight. In a Dusty Dune rerun, head over the moving
platforms and dodge the fire bars (and of course the instant-death
quicksand) to the big spotlight ahead. Another Space Junk area,
this time more complicated. Head right and Wall Jump as the walls
form ahead of you. Head left, avoid the fire bar, and wall jump
up another set of walls to a gravity-pull area. Head right and
jump over the fire bars VERY carefully to avoid being pulled below
into the black hole. At the end, jump down to the spotlight.
This area is brand spankin' new. Head across the platforms and
avoid the Bullet Bills by luring them into the Bowser statues
(a great source of coins if your health runs low). Head right
and dash under the Thwomp. Head across more sinking platforms
and green rotating ones to a similar area connected to the last
one...somehow (I REALLY can't explain the physics of this, so
keep a willing suspension of disbelief here!). Now you'll need
to dodge Bullet Bills AND a Banzai Bill that is fired occasionally
and moves straight down the pike. Once it passes, head up the
middle and use a green platform to more rotating ones. Dodge
another set of Bullet Bills and a Banzai Bill, and head along
either side to a Launch Star. Wow...that was intense! Head
up the stairs quickly as Bowser Jr. releases meteors on your
head. Get the Life Mushroom at left, and the 1-Up at right if
you want, then at the top, you'll be launched to the next
planet to begin the final Bowser fight.

Stage One: Avoid Bowser's shockwaves and fireballs. When he curls
into a boulder, time it so you spin attack his face to form
Bowser-ball, then spin attack again for a hit. Repeat just once
with 2 spin attacks to move on to the next planet.

Stage Two: Surrounded by green bulbs, time it so when Bowser rolls
towards you, spin at a bulb for a hit and spin attack Bowser-ball.
Repeat once with 2 spin attacks for the last stage.

Alternative strategy: You can hit him with one of the green bouncy
bulbs while he's shooting fireballs. That way you don't have to risk
getting smushed by him when he's rolling around. Just make sure you
dodge the fireballs that he's spitting.

Stage Three: Like in previous Bowser fights, avoid shockwaves and
fireballs, and stand by a blue glass dome that Bowser can crash
through. Spin attack his tail when he turns around after a face-to-
face encounter, then spin attack Bowser-ball. Repeat once with 2
    spin attacks and *YOU WIN*!

Watch the closing cinema from beginning to end. After the credits
finish, you unlock the Purple Coin Comets. See my Purple Coin
walkthroughs under Prankster Comets. Once you finish all 16 of
them, re-enter Bowser's Galaxy Reactor and defeat him AGAIN just
like above. Watch the closing cinema and credits AGAIN to unlock
    Luigi.

As Luigi, you need to complete the ENTIRE GAME *AGAIN*! All the
stars are exactly the same, but you'll notice that Luigi is
faster and a higher jumper than Mario. Catching rabbits sure is
easier :oD You will also notice that the Cosmic Comets will be
against Cosmic Luigi, who is a LOT harder to beat than Cosmic Mario.
The Honeyhive Cosmic Comet race will be along a slightly different
path, and see also my notes under Sea Slide Cosmic Comet for beating
    the *EXTREMELY* hard star there.

Once you finish Luigi's initial stars, finish Bowser's Galaxy

    1-Up
A green mushroom that gives Mario an extra life. Lives allow you
to continue attempting the same task to get a star.

    Life Mushroom
A red mushroom that doubles your health meter to 6, the maximum
number it can reach. If your health drops below 4, you will lose
    the extra meter.

    ? Coin
A large coin that opens up a secret, either revealing a Power-Up,
a chain of musical notes that can be collected for a 1-Up or
other reward, such as Star Bits or coins.

    Coin
Official Mario currency that can replenish 1 health point on your
meter or can be tallied up for a high score.

    Purple Coin
Special currency that only appears in Purple Comet star levels.
Collect all 100 or 150 that appear for a Power Star.

    Koopa Shell
Used to bop enemies, open up cracked walls, or open treasure chests.
Green ones need to be manually aimed, red ones have a homing device
that aims it for you, and golden ones open golden treasure chests.
Walk into the shell to automatically pick it up, then shake the
    Wiimote to throw it.

    Star Bit
A small starburst that is collected by aiming the Wiimote at them.
Collect increments of 50 for a 1-Up. They can also be aimed at
enemies with the Wiimote & shot out with B. They are also used
to feed Hungry Lumas based on the number they give.

    Power Star
A star collected by finishing a level within a galaxy, used to
access other galaxies within a dome in the Comet Observatory,
and to access Bowser's galaxies for Grand Stars.

    Grand Star
A giant star collected from completing the boss level of a galaxy.
Used to power up the central system of the Comet Observatory in
order to rescue Peach & eventually return home, and to open
up more domes within the Observatory.

    Pull Star
A small blue star with a bubble around it. Aim with the Wiimote
and press A to attach Mario to the star. Use several of them
    to float through space.

    Sling Star
A small star that will send Mario to a nearby planet. Shake
with the Wiimote to sling within it.

    Launch Star
A big star that will launch Mario through the galaxy to another
planet. Can be activated by a Luma, appears on its own, or
is activated by completing a task.

    Bee Mario
First acquired in Honeyhive Galaxy in a yellow/brown striped mushroom.
Turns Mario into a bee and gives him the ability to fly. Press & hold
A to fly, using the Control Stick to change direction. Tap A to save
power. Turns back to normal if attacked by an enemy or touches water.

    Ice Mario
First acquired in Beach Bowl Galaxy in an ice flower. Turns Mario icy
and gives him the ability to skate on water and Wall Jump on waterfalls.
Shake the Wiimote to skate and Wall Jump normally. Power will run out
    after a minute or so.

    Boo Mario
First acquired in Ghostly Galaxy in a white mushroom. Turns Mario into
a giant Boo. Hold down A to float and shake the Wiimote to turn
invisible and pass through walls. Turns back to normal if you walk into
light or are attacked by enemies.

    Fire Mario
First acquired in Freezeflame Galaxy in a Fire Flower. Shake the Wiimote
to spit out fireballs, which can light torches and attack enemies. Its
    power runs out quickly.

    Spring Mario
First acquired in Toy Time Galaxy in a silver mushroom. This is tough to
control as Mario constantly bounces. Press & hold A to spring even higher.
Move normally with the Control Stick. Turns back to normal if you touch
water, use a Launch Star, or get attacked by an enemy.

    Flying Mario
First acquired in Gateway Galaxy in a red star. Jump, then shake the
Wiimote to spin and begin flying through the air. Use the Control
Stick to maneuvre his direction (up for down & down for up). It
lasts for about 2 minutes before its power runs out.

them and aim the Wiimote at them (make sure there is a target on
the Luma and it asks for Star Bits), shooting with B to feed them

Awesome retro music! Long jumping (Z+A while on the move) will save
your life here. Find the safest place to start when there are gaps
between holes to land on. Long jump over the electric lines and
across giant holes to land safely on a gap. Continue this to reach
the second stage where the floor moves left/right with electric lines
along the sides. Use the same strategy here, staying away from the
walls. The next area rotates in a circle and has much larger holes
in different shapes. Again, long jump across the big ones, landing
on the gaps. You can even spin for a little extra momentum and kill
a bit of time to land safely. The last stage is a bit of a doozy.
I suggest starting on the orange platforms with holes, then long
jump to a pink platform and over the electric lines to reach a
wafer cookie platform. Climb the cake to get the star.

A tip: Because I'm right-handed, I tend to switch the Nunchuck into my
left hand and use the Wiimote with my right hand to get a better
aim at the Sling Pods. You can do this as a righty or a lefty by using
the Wiimote in your dominant hand.

Use the Sling Pod and fire between the cannonballs, heading left to
the Sling Pod surrounded by moving walls. Fire into the Sling Pod
across from the 1-Up to earn it, then fire up (in a tiny margin of
space!) to a new stage. Use the Pull Stars to pass by the mines, then
pass the fire bars. I would ignore the 1-Up here as it's very risky.
Keep heading up and aim for the star between the moving walls at the
    end.

or Boo Mario. Head across the moving platforms either left for
Boo or right for Bee. Personally, I've never tried Bee Mario, as Boo
Mario is fairly easy. For Boo Mario, avoid the spotlights, the love-
struck Boos (ew!) and the bubbles that will cause you to sink in the
instant-death quicksand. Either way, use the Sling Star at the end
to reach a rotating platform with trecherous mines and gaping
holes. Become Rainbow Mario at the start to blast through the mines
and keep grabbing more of these stars as you move along. Make your

Star #1- Racing the Spooky Speedster

Use the pipe, then transform into Boo Mario. Shake the Wiimote to
become invisible and pass through the wall. Head up & approach the Big
Boo to start a race. You have about 1 minute to beat the Big Boo. Use
the wind streams throughout the race to speed up and shake the Wiimote
to turn invisible and avoid the obstacles. It's best to just
go with the flow, but if you need some direction: Head right, then
down, avoiding the right path. Head right to the fans, then all
the way down. Get the ? coin to activate a fan that will let you
speed up. Keep heading down and get invisible to head through
the walls. Head all the way down to the finish line to win the
    star.

Star #1- Star Bunnies in the Snow

This star is REALLY, REALLY annoying. The first part is straight-
forward: Use a Koopa Shell to open the treasure chest, and use
the Sling Star. You now have 150 seconds to catch 3 bunnies.
Sounds easy, but time is eaten up by the ridiculous task of
activating 4 switches and searching through the snow. Hit (1) switch
just ahead of you, then head left and aim with the Wiimote to dust off
the snow and hit (2). (3) is located under the snow just above it.
Head left to find (4) in the snow as well, then head to the topside
and hit (5) by the dome to open up both sides of the planet. Get the
Fire Flower in the nearby dome and fire away at the nearby snowmen
to free a rabbit and activate a Koopa Shell. Ignore the rabbit
for now and search in the snow again (aiming with the Wiimote)
to find some holes in the ground. Make sure all the snow
is cleared off the holes to free a 2nd rabbit. Ignore it as
well and use the Koopa Shell to break open a treasure chest
and free the last rabbit. Lure or chase the rabbits into a
dome to trap them and catch all 3 rabbits to win the star.

                                      *Prankster Comets*

A prankster comet first appears after you collect 13 stars. There are
5 types and they appear randomly in the galaxies which are outlined
    below.

    Speedy Comet
Sets a 4-minute time limit to finish the star level.

    Daredevil Comet
Gives you only 1 health point to finish the star level by
    defeating the mini-boss.

    Fast Foe Comets
Speeds up enemy attacks or has you race Shadow Mario for the star.

    Purple Comets
Collect 100 or 150 purple coins for the star. Unlocked after
finishing Bowser's Galaxy Reactor and reopening your saved file.

...And here is a list based on the order of areas that you unlock
    at the Comet Observatory:

    Terrace:

    Good Egg Galaxy- Speedy Comet:
Star #1- Dino Piranha Speed Run

You have 4 minutes to complete the level, defeating Dino Piranha
once again at the end. Just follow the level as usual, skipping
over time-consuming side tasks. Collect the star after defeating
Dino Piranha. Remember that the clock continues to tick even
    after the star is revealed!

    Honeyhive Galaxy- Cosmic Comet:
Star #1- Honeyhive Cosmic Mario Race

You must race Cosmic Mario to win the star. Head up & right along
the path, then try long jumping to the waterfall ledge. Backflip
& spin 2x, then long jump to the open stump. Slide down, then
backflip & spin 2x to the upper ledge. Long jump across the
ledges, avoiding the honey, to reach the star at the end.

    Fountain:

    Space Junk Galaxy- Speedy Comet:
Star #1- Pull Star Path Speed Run

You have 4 minutes to complete the level. Again, it's exactly
the same, just avoid doing any unnecessary Star Bit or coin
hunting. At the last area, tread carefully along the space
junk or you'll fall easily. Head back down to the beginning
of this area for the star.

    Battlerock Galaxy- Daredevil Comet:
    Star #1- Topmaniac's Daredevil Run

You are given only 1 health point in which to defeat Topmaniac.
It's not too hard. Avoid the electric lines leading to him
and in the arena. I find jumping off the small yellow Topmen
helps me avoid getting bumped around. Repeat the process as
usual on Topmaniac to win the star.

    Kitchen:

Beach Bowl Galaxy- Fast Foe Comet:
Star #1- Fast Foes on the Cyclone Stone

The area following the secret undersea cavern now has faster
Tox Boxes and Thwomps. Use the same strategies as before,
but watch the Tox Boxes very closely, since they can crush
you instantly if you are a hair off the safe zone. Be aware
that some Tox Boxes change safe zones as they go along the
path. At the end is the star.

    Ghostly Galaxy- Daredevil Comet:
    Star #1- Bouldergeist's Daredevil Run

You have 1 health point in which to defeat Bouldergeist again.
Yikes! Use the same strategies as before, but be EXTRA cautious
when aiming the Bomb Boos and dodging the rock pillars. The
second stage is much harder with the hands posing an extra
threat. Basically, you need to be alert and fast to win this.

    Bedroom:

    Gusty Garden Galaxy- Daredevil Comet:
Star #1- Major Burrows' Daredevil Run

You get 1 health point in which to defeat Major Burrows.
This fight isn't nearly as difficult as Bouldergeist (see
star above). The first 1-2 hits should be fairly easy.
Just remember to ground pound 2x on the last hit before
    spin attacking.

    Freezeflame Galaxy- Cosmic Comet:
Star #1- Frosty Cosmic Mario Race

You'll now race Cosmic Mario on an icy maze by skating over
and under several ice platforms. Shake the Wiimote to
begin skating and when you reach a dead end, jump to the
the path above you to continue. Beat Cosmic Mario to
the star at the end to win. A tip: Try cutting corners
by jumping over the small gaps across from you, instead of
turning the corners to get ahead on the course.

    Dusty Dune Galaxy- Speedy Comet:
    Star #1- Sandblast Speed Run

You have 4 minutes, 30 seconds to get this star by repeating
the same tactics from Blasting Through the Sand. Be extra
quick with the star chips, since they can take as long as
1:30 to finish! Jump on the sandy river to slow down &
get the star chips. Take most of your time with heading back
after pounding the switch since a toe in the quicksand means
death for Mario. In the end, it's a tough star to earn, but
    by no means impossible.

    Engine Room:

    Gold Leaf Galaxy- Cosmic Comet:
Star #1- Cosmic Mario Forest Race

You must race Cosmic Mario through the level with the deck
and narrow paths to the star. Get a head start by long
jumping to the blocks and try to either wall kick & spin them
or automatically climb them by jumping, then pressing A to
boost up. CAUTIOUSLY attempt long jumping on straightaways
in the narrow path area and you should get the star.

    Sea Slide Galaxy- Cosmic Comet:
Star #1- Underwater Cosmic Mario Race

You must race Cosmic Mario through the level as you did with
the penguins earlier. Use the Koopa Shell to catch up
to the Olympic swimmer that Cosmic Mario is. At the end,
you need to jump out to dry land and long jump to the
path around the lighthouse to nab the star.

*NOTE: As Luigi, when completing the stars to reach the Grand
Finale Galaxy, you will be racing Cosmic Luigi in all Cosmic
Comet star levels. For this level, you should try to do the
rocket boost at the start of the race to get a really good
head start. You hold the Control Stick up, hold Z at the count
of 2, then press A at GO! and Luigi will stream ahead in rainbow
    colours.

Basically, this race is the TOUGHEST star of them all (Mario's
or Luigi's) and requires several tries to win. I won the
star without doing the rocket boost, and just long jumped about
2-3x at the beginning, jumping off Cosmic Luigi's head (not on
purpose) and quickly dove, then shook the Wiimote to spin
slightly ahead and get the Koopa Shell. I went through all
3 speed boost rings and avoided the walls, floor, and other
obstacles. At the stairs, get rid of the shell first, then
either triple jump or just jump normally up them, then
long jump like crazy to the star around the lighthouse. I
almost missed the star, but I did about 3 long jumps, then
a normal jump to reach it. It was simply luck over skill
    in my case :oD

    Toy Time Galaxy- Fast-Foe Comet:
Star #1- Fast Foes of Toy Time

The Tox Boxes and red spiky platforms move at a faster pace now.
The same goal remains: to touch all blue switches so they turn
yellow. Be cautious around the Tox Boxes and wait in the safe
zone until they pass by. The star awaits you in the same spot.

    Garden:

    Deep Dark Galaxy- Daredevil Comet:
Star #1- Ghost Ship Daredevil Run

You have 1 health point in which to defeat the mini-boss,
Kamella. The first stage on the main floor of the ship
is pretty straightforward, but once you move to the upper
lookout tower, it can get tricky. I highly suggest you
wipe out the 2 Magikoopas she summons so that you aren't
bombarded with fireballs! It's not impossible, but can
be quite difficult when you move up to the second stage
    of the battle.

    Dreadnought Galaxy- Speedy Comet:
Star #1- Topman Tribe Speed Run

You have 6 minutes to complete the level, including
defeating Topmaniac at the end. Head through the
level as you did before, ignoring any side tasks that
will eat up too much time. Long jump whenever possible
(and safe) to save time and defeat Topmaniac as usual
at the end to win the star.

    Melty Molten Galaxy- Daredevil Comet:
Star #1- Lava Spire Daredevil Run

You have 1 health point to access the peak of the
rock spire at the end of this level for a star. Head
through the level normally, and take your time, being
extra careful around the sinking platforms and active
geysers. There's not much to it, but one false move
and you start over again from the beginning. Atop
the sinking rock spire is the star. Remember to break
the crystal 2x to retrieve it.

    Purple Comets:

*Please note that the Purple Comets may not appear in
this order, but I've listed them in chronological
order based on location. If the comet is not in orbit,
check another location. You may even need to re-enter
and complete a star level within the galaxy over again to probe
    it.

    Gateway Galaxy
    Star #1- Gateway's Purple Coins

The Gate is where you started the game by finding the rabbit.
To access it from the Comet Observatory, use the transporter
to the Engine Room, then the next one to the Gate, located
on an extended island off the Garden. Enter the Gate.

Climb the tower to meet up with Rosalina and a red Luma,
who will leave 100 Purple Coins on the planet. A red
star appears which gives you the last Power-Up, Flying
Mario! Like in Super Mario 64, Mario can fly for
an extended period of time (longer than in S64) to
capture coins that are otherwise out of reach. Try it
now by spinning in midair to stay afloat and use the
Control Stick to manuevre his direction. Fly through
30 coins around the planet in a continuous arc, then
drop to the ground. The other 70 coins are on the ground
and on the roofs of houses. There is no time limit,
so head around as long as it takes to get all 100. Get
the red star atop the tower to activate the Flying Power-Up
in the Comet Observatory, located by the red Luma above
the Bedroom off the transporter to the Engine Room.

    Terrace- Good Egg Galaxy
    Star #1- Purple Coin Omelet

There are 100 Purple Coins to collect. Not too shabby :oD
Collect the first 15 coins from the start, then spin at
the crystal to use a Launch Star, collecting 10 automatically,
and use the Launch Star in mid-air for another automatic
    10. (35/100).

On the green-and-white (Yoshi egg) planet, collect 10 coins
here, then use the Launch Star, collecting another 10 as
you fly through space. Use the Launch Star in mid-air as
you fly and you'll collect 10 more. (65/100).

On the planet with lots of boulders, get 15 on the path
and spin at the crystal for another Launch Star, collecting
10 on the way, then use the Launch Star in mid-air to get
the last 10 coins. When you land, collect the star. (100/100).

    Terrace- Honeyhive Galaxy
Star #1- The Honeyhive's Purple Coins

There are 100 Purple Coins to collect here. This one is
a bit more involved than the last one. Get 10 coins when
you first land, then head back left to the small fence in
back and CAREFULLY straddle the fence to grab a single
coin. It's on a VERY small ledge, so if you fall on it,
you're safe. Head up the usual path at right and backflip
at the edge where the boulders roll off the planet for a
single coin. Pound the grey rock to activate a vine.
Ignore it for now, and head left to the swing. Jump to
it and get the single coin above. Head back right to an
open ledge and climb up. Follow the path around for 5 coins,
then collect 3 more by wall jumping up, and get 2 more on top
    (23/100).

Head up to the fountain and get 5 coins there. Pound a column
of grey rocks on the edge of the ground by the waterfall for a
coin, then climb up to the waterfall for 2 coins. Use the pipe
and hop across the ledges with sticky honey and collect 9 coins
here (don't forget the one at the very end by the 1-Up!), then
backtrack to where the pipe was. Drop off the ledge for
2 coins, then use the new pipe. Drop off back to the main area and
use the vine, but be careful not to spin off the end of the first
one or you'll fall off the planet! Left of the grey rock, slide
down the slope and slow down by jumping to collect 3 coins. Use
the vine again. Pound the boulder, then use the trampoline on
its very edge to reach the top of the block above, and backflip
for a coin. Get 3 coins on the edge of the fence by the vine,
then grab 5 more around the big tree. Climb the narrow ramp
*VERY CAREFULLLY* to get 5 coins, then drop off right and climb
up to the Wiggler in a pen. Pound the red switch to activate
the bridge and take it to the wall climbing area. Pound that
switch, then wall jump up for 4 coins. (63/100).

Get atop the rounded cliff at left for a coin and, in
a nice automatic long shot, you'll see a safe area below. Drop
to the blocks for 2 coins, then to the tunnel. Get 3 coins at
the end, then fall through the open stump. Jump to slow down
on the slide and get 5 coins, then use the pipe. Go around
the big tree again and get a single coin from the watery area
by the Wiggler's pen and 2 coins around a small tree nearby.
Take the ledge towards the vine below to find 3 coins on a
rounded peak, then use the bridge by the pen and wall jump
up to the previous area. (80/100).

Get 3 coins around the left side and 1 coin on the left cliff's
edge. On the right cliff, gather 3 coins. Wall jump up
the wooden walls for 3 coins, then climb back up the left
cliff. Fall down to the safe area below and collect 5 coins,
one on the fountain itself. Almost done! Backflip in the
bottom left to a ledge for the last 5 coins to activate the star.
Use the waterfall to drop down, then head along the main path back
to where you started the level for the star. Whew! (100/100).

    Fountain- Space Junk Galaxy
    Star #1- Purple Coin Spacewalk

You have a snappy 2 minutes to collect all 100 coins. Crappity
crap crap crap :oP All coins are in clusters of 10 along space
junk platforms, so tread quickly but carefully. It's best to
finish one side of the maze first, then the other. I often
just go with the flow and backtrack if I need to, but if you
need some direction: Head straight for #s 1-10, then
jump right and head straight all the way, then left for #s 11-20.
Go right, then straight up for #s 21-30. Backtrack left, then up
for #s 31-40, then keep going left for #s 41-50. Head down, right,
then down again for #s 51-60, then down and right over a gap for
    #s 61-70. Head left a little more & over a gap for #s 71-80.
Go left, then head up and right a little for #s 81-90,
then right over another gap to collect the last 10 coins. Follow the
path right, over a gap, then down as much as possible to the star.
If you get lost, just keep heading downwards when you can.

    Fountain- Battlerock Galaxy
Star #1- Purple Coins on the Battlerock

I'm probably one of very few people who actually likes this
star level :oD You will be using a moving platform to navigate an
electric maze with constant cannonballs. The bad news is you
can't backtrack, so if you miss a coin, you need to start over.
I can't really outline the level for you, but keep your eyes
peeled at all time. I can offer a bit of direction: Get 25 coins
from the start, then go under the electric wall for a few more
and a bunch on the way to the next platform. Get the Life Mushroom
if you want (not too helpful unless you hit the electric barriers
a lot). Backflip over the electric wall for a string of coins, then
head to the underside for more coins and several
more on top. At the end, if you have less than 100 coins (and, um,
the star doesn't appear...duh!), pause and return to the observatory
to save your lives. Restart the level and you won't lose a life
from the killer robot that punishes you if you have 99 or fewer
coins. HAL, how could you? Can't you just let me get the star?
    *You know I can't do that, Dave*. Sorry...a little 2001: A Space
Odyssey joke there. With 100 coins in hand, you'll get the star.

    Kitchen- Beach Bowl Galaxy
Star #1- Beachcombing For Purple Coins

This one is pretty laidback, so take your time here. From the
start, dive into the water and get 5 coins nearby: 1 near the
land, 1 in the far left corner, 1 on a rock by the tree, 1 on
a long piece of stone where the clam used to be, and 1 by the tree
again. Surface and head back to the start. Get 2 coins on the
trunk of the palm tree, and 2 on top. Get 16 coins off the box
steps and area around the Penguin Coach, plus 1 off his head! Head
off the starting island for 4 coins, then long jump to the swinging
vine. Whee! Swing around to collect lots of coins in mid-air layers,
then get 3 around the waterfall at left, 3 at right, 1 on a box, and 2
in the shallow water off the waterfall. 2 more lay on the stairs.
    (65/100).

On the right side of the waterfall, get 1 coin off the edge of the
grassy area, then long jump to a swing for a few more coins. Aim
for the spire with 1 coin atop it. It might take a few tries--use
the Control Stick to aim better. Use the Spring Mushroom left of
the waterfall and super-spring for 1 coin behind the falls. Left
of the falls, spring up the palm trees to find 2 coins on one tree,
1 on each of the other 2 trees, and 2 on a tree in the sand. Head
back and get 1 coin in the corner fenced area (better get this one
as normal Mario to avoid jumping overboard). If at any time you
lose the Power-Up, be sure to re-activate it. Super-spring up & just
left of the waterfall to a ledge with 2 by the water and 2 off the
fence. Head left and get 3 by the flowers and super-spring off the
shell for 3. Almost done! Head left again and get 2 more off the
ledge, then spring up to the higher ledge. Get 2 more here, then
spring up again for another 2 coins. Head up and right to the palm
tree. Atop it are the last 3 coins. Jump down to the Penguin Coach
    for the star. (100/100).

    Kitchen- Ghostly Galaxy
Star #1- Purple Coins in the Bone Pen

Another timed Purple Coin level. This time you have a cool 1
minute to collect 100 of the 150 available coins in the bone
pen where you raced Big Boo before. My best advice is to
use the Pull Stars and head around left in a circle along the
perimeter of the area, then move into the middle layers where
you'll get the bulk of your coins. Get the Life Mushroom if
you keep hitting the @#&@#@$ mines. Once you hit #100, get
the star in the lower middle area where the Life Mushroom
    is/was.

    Bedroom- Gusty Garden Galaxy
Star #1- Purple Coins on the Puzzle Cube

You have 2 minutes, 30 seconds to collect 100 of the 150
Purple Coins in the garden area where you chased down the
rabbit earlier. Get as many coins as you can on the lower
ground level before climbing up. You will likely need
to walk the planks in the one area for more coins, so tread
carefully. The star appears in the fountain area of the maze,
so head over there quickly once you nab #100, as the clock
    is still ticking away!

    Bedroom- Freezeflame Galaxy
Star #1- Purple Coins on the Summit

Oy vay...another trip up the mountain's summit :oP Needless
to say, I really loath this level! Let's get it over with...
Slide down at the start, then backtrack to get 2 coins under
the slide's edge. Get 2 more ahead, then head right over
the platforms for 6 coins. Get the ? coin to activate the
ice flower. Get 10 coins on the way to the flower (1 is
found above the ice flower itself by backflipping), then use
it. Walk back right to the corner area with a Sling Star.
Collect 1 coin before using it to reach a higher ledge with
2 additional coins. Jump to slow down on the slide for 2
coins, then drop back down to the ice flower and use it
    again. (25/100).

Head to the left area (not the usual platform with
steps that you've used before) and pass by the spouts with
a ? coin to the parallel walls. Wall jump up them for a
? coin, then use the Sling Star for 1 coin. Head back to the
ice flower and get it AGAIN, then head up & right to your
usual platform for 1 coin, then use the spouts and head up
(not right to the other spouts) for 4 coins by the wall
pushers. Also nab 2 coins from atop them. (34/100).

Wall kick at left for 1 coin, then head left for 2 coins.
Head down by spinning at the crystal and get 5 coins off
the tilting platform. Head down to where the Toads are for
3 coins, then head left along the snow for 4 more coins.
Jump to the box platform for 1 coin, then wait for the
wall pushers to move right before getting the ice flower.
Head up and get 2 coins up there, then head across the
wall pushers for 2 more, then 3 coins at the end. Jump
on two spouts, getting 5 coins off them and head up to
Baron Brrr's pad. He's apparently not at home :oD
Get 4 coins from the start, then head left along the platforms
for 4 more coins. Get the ice flower here and come around
to the front and wall jump in the middle area for 2 coins
and 3 once on top. Drop down at right for 2 in the cave and
3 on the way there. (78/100).

Drop back down to the spouts and down again to the Sling Star
area. Drop to the first ice flower and use it, heading up
& left to the spouts and ? coin you ignored earlier. Backflip
and spin atop the spires for 2 coins. Backtrack to the ice
flower and use it again, heading up & right as usual, across
the first set of spouts, THEN across the right set of spouts
by triple jumping. Deja vu, no? You'll get 1 coin on the way
and 1 once you land higher up. Use the Sling Star, then use
the fire flower to destroy the snowmen, grabbing 1 coin. Wait
until the Power-Up runs out, then get the fire flower again and
head over the gap & right across the wall pushers. Destroy that
snowman (notice that there aren't any pushy bats around to mess
you up!), getting 1 coin on the way, another on the next ledge,
and 1 from that snowman. Use the Sling Star to move along. Get
1 coin when you land, then use the fire flower to destroy
another snowman along the narrow path at right. Cross when
the wall pushers pull back, getting 1 coin on the way, then
climb up for another coin. Get the fire flower again and
get 2 coins on the way to another snowman it. Melt it
with a sweet, sweet fireball, then use the Sling Star. (92/100).

Almost done! Get 4 coins along the narrow path and hop to
the block, then get 1 coin by the wall pushers. When it's
safe, wall jump up to the summit, getting 3 here. That's
    98...yup, just 98...not 99....certainly not 100...Of all
the cheap dirty tricks. Oh wait, what's that? The Toad
will tell you the last two are on the way down. Calmly
long jump off the summit and aim with the control stick on a
pillar for the last 2 coins. Use the Sling Star to reach the
star at the beginning of the level. Now let's never speak of
it again :oD (100/100, thank goodness).

    Bedroom- Dusty Dune Galaxy
Star #1- Purple Coins in the Desert

If you thought Purple Coins on the Summit was tough, you ain't
seen nothin' yet :oP There are 100 coins to collect here, and
the durn quicksand will suck you up easily. I've died at the
98 and 99 coin mark, so allow me to help ease your suffering.
Get 5 from the start and 1 in the donut hole. Mmm...donut :oP
(I'd add drool to my emoticon's tongue, but I don't know how!).
Get 3 coins past the tornado, then 1 on the ledge between two
of them. Use a tornado to fly back right and get 3 coins in
midair. Back at the tornados, get 2 coins on the ledge and
1 in the corner. Side flip and spin off the Thwomp to get on
top of it and backflip for 3 at its peak. Get 3 in a column
at left and 4 underneath the Thwomp. Use the tornado to head
left for 3 coins in mid-air. Get 1 coin at the bottom end of
the ledge before the moving platform, then 3 at the end (33/100).

Use the moving red platform at left, getting 5 coins on the
way to the other side. Get 3 coins by the Dry Bones enemy
and 3 more by using the tornado to fly up over the quicksand.
Jump to the donut platform and get 3 around the hole. 1
coin is over the hole and is best grabbed by long jumping
and spinning from left to right over it. Backflip to get
a lone coin in the bottom right of the donut. (49/100).

Personally, I like to get the coins along the left area
before accessing it again later on. Get 3 along the path,
2 by long jumping over the quicksand-filled gap and 1
on the sandy circle. It will save you time later on.
Backtrack to the dount hole and go right to the broken,
narrow paths. Get 4 coins by the left tornado, then use it
to reach 2 straight up in the air and 3 in the distance
towards the left area. Use the 2nd tornado in back to get 2
coins in mid-air. Get 2 coins in front by another tornado
and head below the last tornado at right for 3 coins (2 of
these need only a normal jump to reach over the small gaps).
Use the last tornado for 3 in mid-air heading towards the
    donut hole at right. (75/100).

Be **VERY CAREFUL** (I can't stress this enough!) around
these two tornadoes, as the big rocks circling them can
make you lose health points and, even worse, knock you into
the instant-death quicksand. Get 4 coins around the hole,
and 5 down the middle of the yellow path (use Z to duck under
the swirling rocks to slowly but safely get across). Carefully
use a tornado to get 3 coins in mid-air on the left and 3 on
the right. Get 3 coins around the tower's base, 1 by wall
kicking & spinning off the wall of the tower, and 1 by
backflipping off the blue switch atop it. Pound the switch
and backtrack through the donut hole quickly. Like you
did before in this level, hop across the broken paths, use
a tornado to cut across the quicksand to the left area
and climb the temporary tower for the last 5 coins.
Just as quickly, nab the last Purple Coin star. Yay! (100/100,
    double thank goodness!).

    Engine Room- Gold Leaf Galaxy
Star #1- Purple Coins in the Woods

You have 3 minutes, 30 seconds to collect 100 coins. There
are bees along the way as checkpoints that tell you how many
coins you should have, so this should be pretty easy.

Head up the brown blocks, getting the coins here, and in the
pen at left. Head across more blocks and up to the bee. (20/100).

Head left & right along the narrow planks and on the trampoline
at right all the way up to the bee (50/100).

Get the coin on the other side of the trampoline before using
it, then get two while on the swing. Head up the stairs and
left around the tower for some coins, then around to the right
    up to the bee (70/100).

Jump up to the higher ledge for 3 coins, then backflip & spin
onto the platform high up at left. Get the coin behind the
Sling Star before using it. Carefully tread the fence for
a few coins and use the trampoline to reach the Sling Star.
Get the coins on the next fence and around the stone, then
pound it and use the vine to reach the area where you fought
Monty Mole. Get all the coins around the central platform,
including three in the back of one area. Long jump across
the moving platforms, and avoid the spikes. Once you get
#100, get the star on the middle platform.

    Engine Room- Sea Slide Galaxy
Star #1- Purple Coins by the Seaside

This is another one of those LOOOOONG purple coin hunts
that (luckily) isn't timed, but takes a thorough eye
to finish. You need to be Bee Mario for most of the
level...make that all of it :oP

Get 1 coin off the first palm tree, then jump to the first
cloud, heading left for 1, then right for another. Get
#4 from atop the stone arch. Take the next 2 clouds for 2
coins, then 1 atop the next palm tree. Get a coin on
top of the next stone arch, then use the cloud to reach
the red Starshroom ship for 3 coins. Use the clouds at
left for 3 coins. Fly to where the cannon used to be
for 1 coin, then fly under the finish line banner for
3 more coins. Use the clouds right of the cannon for 3
coins, then fly to the next set of clouds for 3 coins.
    (25/100).

Fly to the right cloud for 3 coins, then atop the
palm tree for 1 coin (*yawn*). On the next cloud,
grab 3 coins in a row, then a single coin atop the
next cloud. Fly up to the top of the lighthouse for
3 coins around the pole (nothing atop it...for now).
Get a few coins between the clouds and tree near the
lighthouse, then one around the base. Go across the
bridge by the lighthouse for 2 coins, then hover around the
lighthouse just over the water for 3 coins. Fly across the
clouds heading behind the lighthouse towards the next planet.
Get 2 coins on the blue Starshroom ship, then fly left for
several coins and some more in the air. Fly to the yellow
Starshroom ship, then to the sandy planet. (55/100).

Get 4 coins by the Toad, then use the cloud to fly left.
Get 4 coins on the way to the next cloud, then to the
highest cloud with 4 coins on the way there. Get 1 coin
on the green Starshroom ship, then fly to the stone structure.
Get 5 coins here, then fly to the cloud to reach a tree bough
with a ? block. Fly to the closest bough for 1 coin, and
one just higher up for another. (75/100).

Get 4 coins in a row leading to a cloud (slightly backtracking),
then fly up to the top of the tree for a coin. In front, there
are a few coins on the other boughs, then fly to the clouds ahead
with 1 coin on a cloud and 4 leading to the next one. Another
series of 3 coins leads back towards the start of the level. Get
the last coin on the small stone pillar to release the star
atop the lighthouse. D'oh! Make your way over there, then fly up
to the top. Climb the pole to reach the star. (100/100).

    Engine Room- Toy Time Galaxy
    Star #1- Luigi's Purple Coins

You have 3 minutes to collect 100 of the 150 coins available
on an 8-bit Luigi. Cool! There is no one way to do this.
Just remember that the green tiles disappear after 1 step
on them and the yellow ones begin rotating after 1 step.
Avoid the dark matter (in lieu of the lava from the 8-bit
Mario). Hop onto the tiles with coins to avoid using too
many tiles (creating hazards on the way back). Long jump
across several series of coins, mostly across the dark
matter to really rack them up! I tend to work along the
left side, then head into the back right corner to long
jump across the dark matter and by then I have 80-90 coins,
so I start working my way back to the beginning of the level
where you can collect the star once you get #100.

    Garden- Deep Dark Galaxy
Star #1- Plunder the Purple Coins

There are 100 coins to be found around the spooky ghost ship
and no time limit (yay!). Get 1 coin where you start, then
dive into the river in back for 10 coins (avoid those nasty
jellyfish) and 1 on the surface of the water in back. Get 2
coins under the starting block, then wall jump off the right
side of it for a high coin by the crates, and 1 on a platform
at left. Get 2 coins (far apart from each other) on a long
ledge across from the spotlight, then in the same
area, get a coin by the crate, and backflip to a higher ledge
for 3 coins (1 needs a backflip to reach it). Backflip at
right to another ledge for 4 coins, 1 higher up in mid-air,
and to another set of 4 on a similar ledge. (30/100).

From the starting block, go right this time and get 2 coins
on the surface of the water. Along the wall, get 4 more,
then at the ship, wall jump off the back for 3 coins. On
the left side, get 5 along the ship, ignoring the really
high one. Further left get 2 coins between the cannons,
then dive down to find 12 more coins: 2 along the bottom
of the ship, 6 by the Toad, 3 on a ledge (still underwater)
and 1 under the bow (front) of the ship. (58/100).

Now to get the rest of the coins on the actual ship. Get
3 coins off the steps leading up, 2 along the rope,
2 on the left side (still on the main deck), and 6 on the
far right. On the upper ledge with rope, get 3 coins, then
drop to the coin we skipped earlier on its own ledge. On
the left side now, get 8 (1 on the edge needs a backflip to
reach it), then climb the pole. Jump off left for 3 coins,
then reclimb the pole. Before heading to the lookout tower,
wall jump awkwardly on the lookout tower pole (not the orange
one) to reach 2 coins underneath the lookout tower platform.
Atop the lookout tower are 10 coins, plus 1 high up (backflip
for it), then long jump to the last one in the distance.
Head back down to the ship's deck for the star. (100/100).

    Garden- Dreadnought Galaxy
    Star #1- Battlestation's Purple Coins

This level is similar to Battlerock's purple coins, but
much longer and more complicated. Get the Life Mushroom
from the start if you tend to hit the electric barriers
a lot. I can't outline where every coin is, but follow
them in series and try not to fall behind, or you'll
need to start over. Again, you can quit and return to
save lives. Also, if you fall behind a moving platform,
wait on a stationary one and it will come by again (but
it only seems to work on horizontal platforms, not vertical
ones where you're standing upside down or along the side). Don't
forget 3 coins atop the Thwomp, as they can be easy to miss.
Near the end, use the left purple trampoline enemy to get 4
coins, then use the other one to reach the Launch Star and
get the 100th coin during the flight. A nice touch, I must
    say :oD

    Garden- Melty Molten Galaxy
    Star #1- Red-Hot Purple Coins

Get the Life Mushroom from the crystal at the start to save
health points from the smokin' hot lava. Get 29 coins in the
first area, including 1 across the lava by long jumping. They're
all located before the big lava geisers. (29/100).

Long jump to reach 2 coins at left, then along the path at right
for 3 coins. Use the sinking platforms at left, collecting 5
coins (1 being dangerously close to the lava). Get 4 more on
the next sinking platform, and 3 on the last one. (46/100).

Get 5 from the green platform that sinks, then backflip off its
higher end for a coin in the air, and 1 along the very dangerous
edge. Take the small platforms at right, getting 6 coins off
the first one, then 6 leading to the stationary platform. Head
towards the wall-jumping structure for 3 coins, and 5 along
the way up the structure (backflipping for the last one). Get
1 coin by the Sling Star, then use this one, plus the next one.
Drop through the volcano to get 5 coins inside. Head back up
by using the Sling Star and collect 3 coins by sliding down
    the volcano. (82/100).

Long jump to the green sinking platform and get 6 coins off
the mini-geisers. Get 1 coin as you wall jump to the switch,
then pound it to keep wall jumping up. Get 3 coins here, then
5 more at left, and the last 3 up the ledges. The star
appears right in front of you for the taking. Yay! (100/100).

After saving Luigi in the Ghostly Galaxy, you will receive letters
from him during the rest of the game. Check with Mailtoad by
Rosalina in the Comet Observatory and he will enclose a photo of
where he is trapped. You must re-enter that galaxy and star location
and rescue Luigi for an additional Power Star. Here is where Luigi
is located and how to save him:

Letter #1- Photo shows Luigi on the roof of a house
Re-Enter: Terrace- Good Egg Galaxy- Dino Piranha

How: Head to the underside of the planet and use the red pipe, then
use the second red pipe on the ceiling to reach the house's roof.
Talk to Luigi for the star.

Letter #2- Photo shows Luigi encased in an electric labyrinth
Re-Enter: Fountain- Battlerock Galaxy- Battlerock Barrage

How: Head through the level to the very end where you'll find
Luigi encased in glass under the second to last platform. Lure
a Bullet Bill under the platform to bust Luigi out of there and
talk to him for the star.

Letter #3- Photo shows Luigi stuck on a tree (that's right, not UP
a tree, but ON a tree!?!)
Re-Enter: Terrace- Honeyhive Galaxy- Bee Mario Takes Flight

How: Head right and get the ? coin to release the Bee Mushroom.
Drop down at left and become Bee Mario. Head back to the beginning
of the level and fly up over the slope to the upper area. Head up and
fly up to the right platformm then find the tree at right. Fly up and
spin at Luigi to save him and talk to him for the star.

    Star #1- The Electric Labyrinth

Accessed from the green section of the Trial Galaxy.

At the central platform with the 5 pipes, enter the very top one
and hop into the bubble. Head around the electric barriers to
the first star chip. This activity never fails, but it sure grows
old (*yawn*). Past the last barrier is a Sling Star that returns
you to the pipes. Now take the upper left pipe and use the bubble
to carefully head past a few moving electric barriers in different
patterns to reach (2). Find the Sling Star up ahead, then enter
the bottom left pipe. Use the bubble and head left when the fire
spouting is ceased for (3). Head back right and around the pipe
platform to return. Use the bottom right pipe and go right past
the electric ball to (4). Keep heading right and upwards, then
left past a series of electric balls to the Sling Star. Now take
the last (top right) pipe to finish this off. Navigate the minefield
downwards to find (5), then keep heading down to the Sling Star.
Use the Launch Star here for stage 2. What...you thought it was
over?!?! As Bubble Boy, you'll need to pass through a narrow
path with electric barriers and cannons shooting Bullet Bills that
will stalk you. Oh goody :oP Head down and right, luring the
Bullet Bill (if you want) to free the encased 1-Up. Head up &
right, following the clear path as usual to another 1-Up between
the moving red barriers (not electric, thank goodness). No Bullet
Bills around here as you keep heading along, then you'll hit a
melee of them! Try blowing the bubble a little faster than usual
and it should be a lot easier to navigate. One more 1-Up to find,
then head right along the safe coin-lined paths, around a solid
round barrier, and into the star. Huzzah!

A longer, more difficult course than Rolling Green Galaxy. Deja vu

tilting left/right to turn and pressing A to jump. Like before,
I suggest switching your Wiimote to your dominant hand, since you
won't use your Nunchuck much in this level. Get the 1-Up at the
start and roll towards the wall, jumping into them to smashie,
smashie, crashie, crashie. Knock down the bridge & block coming
up to access the cannon and blast off, dropping through the hole
to automatically roll to the next area. Roll forward, get the
next 1-Up, then jump to the orange part. When the block clears
a path, head across to a sort-of minefield with Bob-ombs. These
guys can knock you off guard and possibly into the abyss below.
Roll to the platform with a Goomba, then onto a ramp. Jump
over the gaps and into another cannon. Cross the bridge, avoiding
the blocks that will bump you off, then jump up to reach
the upper platform with the hole that will release the star to
the top of the pole. Climb it up to get the star.

                                *Grand Finale Galaxy*

Once you collect 240 stars (120 each as Mario and Luigi), and you
defeat Bowser in Bowser's Galaxy Reactor as Luigi, reopen your saved
file and access the Trial Galaxies via the green Launch Star in the
bottom left off the central area of the Comet Observatory. Talk to
the green Luma across from the red pipe to access a secret area for
the 241st star of the game.

    Star #1- The Star Festival

This is another Purple Coin level, but is by far the easiest in
the game. Follow the path of Purple Coins all the way to the
castle. They are all easy to collect--just don't forget one
atop the Starshroom ship. Once you collect all the coins, the
241st star appears in front of the bridge. Huzzah! Talk to the
Toad near the star to send a congratulatory letter to the Wii
message board. You're officially finished the game!

    Dino Piranha
Found at: Good Egg Galaxy, Dino Piranha
    Difficulty: *.5/*****

Spin into the nut on its tail to wind up & crack the egg to reveal
your first mini-boss, Dino Piranha. Stay out of its line of sight &
continue spinning into the nut on its tail a total of 3 times to
defeat it. It's not too hard to beat it, though it does pick up
    speed by its 2nd hit.

    King Kaliente
Found at: Good Egg Galaxy, King Kaliente's Battle Fleet
    Difficulty: *.5/*****

Avoid the lava (duh) and the fireballs & ice he spits at you. When
he spits out a green coconut, spin into it to bop him. Repeat
two times, but be aware that he will knock it back towards you
once (for the 2nd hit) and twice (for the last hit).

    Mandibug
Found at: Honeyhive Galaxy, Big Bad Bugaboom
    Difficulty: */*****

Stay Bee Mario to reach him. Just fly up and ground pound the
giant Mandibug to get it really p-...uh, mad. Now he'll start
bombing the joint. When he turns the corner, start flying up,
then when he gets close, now's your chance to pound him. Now
he'll not only fly around & try to bomb you, but he'll tilt his
back so you might fall off. That bum :oP Use the same strategy,
just be quick about it, and you'll get the star. You can also use
the flowers to gain extra height.

    Megaleg
Found at: Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor, Megaleg's Moon
    Difficulty: *.5/*****

Wait for one of its legs to land, then climb it like a ramp. Jump
over the Bullet Bill cannons and across the cogs to the top of
Megaleg. Lure a Bullet Bill towards the gates to break a section off,
then lure another one through the open hole to the trapped star. It's
tricky and the gates will reassemble after a minute or so. If you can
knock off a couple of gates, the hole will be easier to lure a Bullet
Bill through. Collect the star once you blast the glass. Huzzah!

    Kamella
Found at: Space Junk Galaxy, Kamella's Airship Attack
    Difficulty: **/*****

Now to fight Kamella, a Magikoopa that will shoot fireballs and an
ocassional Koopa Shell your way. Spin at the Koopa Shell to nab it,
then shake the Wiimote to toss it at her. She will then summon
two Magikoopas and toss more fireballs. Continue the same strategy
2x to defeat her. You can either ignore or defeat the smaller
    Magikoopas.

    Tarantox
Found at: Space Junk Galaxy, Tarantox's Tangled Web
    Difficulty: **.5/*****

Use a Sling Pod to shoot yourself into a big cocoon and summon
Tarantox, a huge spider. Quickly avoid his acid attack and use a
Sling Pod to fling yourself into the big glowing circle on its back.
This only stuns it. Follow it up by slinging yourself into one of 3
red spots, or you can also destroy its acid spouts. Continue
this strategy again as Tarantox releases even more acid to beat
him and win the Star. Sling yourself into the star to grab it.

    Bowser
Found at: Bowser's Star Reactor, The Fiery Stronghold
    Difficulty: **/*****

This fight only has 1 stage, but it has a few different attacks. Jump
between the shockwaves Bowser sends out, then find a blue glass circle
to stand on. When Bowser flies through the air, dodge him at the last
minute so he crashes into the glass and hits the lava underneath it.
Then he'll head around the planet. Meet him face-to-face and he'll turn
around. That's when you spin attack his tail and he'll roll around the
planet. When Bowser-ball (he, he) rolls your way, spin attack
again. Repeat the process as Bowser creates even more shockwaves
and starts spitting out fireballs. After three hits, you win
    a Grand Star.

    Topmaniac
Found at: Battlerock Galaxy, Topmaniac and the Topman Tribe
    Difficulty: **/*****

Jump on the flashing top of the big boss, then spin it into the
electrical field, standing aside so you aren't buzzed either!
Repeat this 2x, avoiding the smaller Topmen to win the star.

    Bouldergeist
Found at: Ghostly Galaxy, Beware of Bouldergeist
    Difficulty: ****/*****

Dodge its rock attack and watch for black rocks that release Bomb
Boos. Spin near them and try to collect two for a double hit.
Obviously, aim the Bomb Boo(s) at Bouldergeist. After 3 hits, he
turns into a ghost with just eyes and a jaw. Eerie. Bomb Boos
appear from bits of black fog. Spin them into the ghost just once
    for stage 2 of Bouldergeist.

    Bowser Jr.
Found at: Bowser Jr.'s Airship Armada, Sinking the Airships
    Difficulty: **/*****

Avoid the cannonballs he fires at you and jump on a Koopa Troopa for
a shell. Spin to shoot the shell at the airship. Now he'll summon
Bullet Bills & a Magikoopa. I suggest beating the Magikoopa first
to make things easier, then fire 2 more shells, avoiding fireballs
that start after the 2nd hit. After 5 total hits, you earn the Grand
    Star.

    Kamella Rematch
Found at: Deep Dark Galaxy, The Underground Ghost Ship
    Difficulty: ***/*****

Basically, she's a giant Magikoopa who will summon fireballs, 2 other
Magikoopas, and a Koopa Shell. When she shoots out the shell, spin
it to grab it, then aim and fire at her. After the 2nd hit, she will
move up to the lookout deck above. Head left and climb the pole, then
jump right to the much smaller fight area. If the other Magikoops get
annoying, clear them out first, then bop Kamella 2 more times to win
    the star.

    Major Burrows
Found at: Gusty Garden Galaxy, The Dirty Tricks of Major Burrows
    Difficulty: **.5/*****

Wait until he pops out of the ground slightly and ground pound to
stun him, then spin attack him. Now he'll focus his anger on you!
Repeat the process 2x, his movements getting a lot quicker each time.
The 3rd time will require 2 ground pounds and then a spin attack to
    win the star.

    Bowser
Found at: Bowser's Dark Matter Plant, Darkness on the Horizon
    Difficulty: **.5/*****

The first stage is the same as last time. Avoid the shockwaves
and fireballs, AND avoid his new attack--a swish of his tail
that can knock you on your bum quick-like. Find a blue glass dome
to stand on and dodge Bowser as he crashes through to the hot
lava. Spin attack the tail when he turns his back on you, then
spin attack Bowser-ball as he rolls back at you. Watch where he
spins, because he can change his plane of direction. Spin him
2 more times to get the Grand Star.

    Monty Mole
Found at: Gold Leaf Galaxy, When It Rains, It Pours
    Difficulty: **/*****

If you're still Bee Mario, this will make your job much easier.
Just fly atop the glass dome of the cannon and pound it 3x to win.
If you lose your costume, pound the red switch around the cannon
to raise the platforms and reach the glass dome. Obviously, avoid
the spikes between the platforms and the bubbles if you want to just
fly up to beat the Monty Mole.

    Monty Mole Rematch
Found at: Toy Time Galaxy, Bouncing Down Cake Lane
    Difficulty: ***/*****

Use the Spring Mushroom to super-spring atop the glass dome & pound it.
Avoid the surrounding fire blasters, Mechakoopas, and electric balls
he shoots out. On the 3rd hit, time it so you aren't shocked by
the electrified cannon! Now you can collect the star atop the
    cannon by super-springing.

    Topmaniac Rematch
Found at: Dreadnought Galaxy, Revenge of the Topman Tribe
    Difficulty: **/*****

The fight is the same as before--just jump on him to retract its
spikes and spin it into the electric barrier. Avoid the red Topmen
and spin at Topmaniac 2 more times to win the star.

    King Kaliente Rematch
Found at: Bowser Jr.'s Lava Reactor, King Kaliente's Spicy Return
    Difficulty: **.5/*****

This time, he will shoot both fireballs and ice rocks, with
meteors dropping from above. The strategy remains the same: spin
at the green coconut he shoots out and remember to spin it again
if King Kaliente bops it back at you. Hop quickly on the platforms
as they sink if you stand on them too long. Repeat this 2x to win
    the Grand Star.

    Bowser
Found at: Bowser's Galaxy Reactor, The Fate of the Universe
    Difficulty: ***/*****

Stage One: Avoid the spiky balls and Bowser's fireballs. When he
curls into a boulder, time it so you spin attack his face to form
Bowser-ball, then spin attack again for a hit. Repeat just once
with 2 spin attacks to move on to the next planet.

Stage Two: Surrounded by green bulbs, time it so when Bowser rolls
towards you, spin at a bulb for a hit and spin attack Bowser-ball.
Repeat once with 2 spin attacks for the last stage.

                                           *Secrets*

*Like in several Mario games of late, if you leave Mario or Luigi
unattended for about 30 seconds, they will yawn, then sit down
    and fall asleep.

*From Phenox: In the level Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor, once you reach
the glass dome area at the top of the robot, you can use one of two
other strategies. a.) lure one Bullet Bill over to the gate, then
backflip over it. If you're lucky, then the Bullet Bill will follow
you and arc over the gate into the glass dome. Or, b.) Lure two Bullet
Bills at the same time. That way, you have the first one hit the gate
and the second one follows through the hole right after the first one
    blows up.

*From Phenox: In Bowser's Galaxy Reactor, during the second phase of
the Bowser fight, you can hit him with one of the green bouncy bulbs
while he's shooting fireballs. That way you don't have to risk getting
smushed by him when he's rolling around. Just make sure you dodge the
fireballs that he's spitting. I used this trick to beat the second
phase of Bowser in mere seconds. =)

*From Phenox: In Freezeflame Galaxy, instead of going toward the ?
coin, though, hop on top of the snow-covered railing on the left side
of the ice patch. Carefully walk forward until the railing ends, then
turn around and do a high jump onto the rock in the middle of the ice
water. From there you can do another high jump onto the next platform.
(this may take a few tries, so make sure you don't freeze in the water
if you miss). On this platform there should be a ? coin, and if you get
it a sling star will appear for you. It'll shoot you up much higher into
the level, a nifty shortcut to getting to Baron Burr faster. You can
also get to this sling star by getting the Ice mushroom and then turning
left and following the edge of the water. There's an area for you to
    wall jump up.

*From Phenox: In Freezeflame Galaxy, once you enter the level, catch
the penguin and shoot over the the next part of the level. Slide down
and grab the ? coin, then get the Ice flower. But, instead of going up
the mountain, turn around and follow the water's edge near the big slope
of ice. If you follow it correctly, you will see a few stone steps and a
sling star. Sling upwards and you will find an ice slide with a 1-up
mushroom and a Red mushroom (the one that brings your life up to 6 bars
    instead of the normal 3).

*From Amit: When using the spring, press 'A' exactly when you hit the
    ground for a higher jump.

*From Amit: When you stand on a sinking platform (lava underneath), if
you jump all the time (press 'A' when you land), the platform doesn't
sink. Very helpful if you have purple coins beneath. You can stand there
as long as you want, or collect the coin (by waiting longer between
    jumps).

*From Tomer: When using a Koopa Shell underwater, you can stop where
you are by pressing 'Z'. It lights up with two red break lights (like on
    a car).
