"Soaring through the stars has never been so much fun"

Has a nice ring, doesn't it? Stated by Nintendo to be the true successor to Super Mario 64 released on the N64, it really deserves that title by being as good, or even surpassing, the previously stated title.
Story - 8/10
It's the same fleshed out story anyone who played the original Mario game could tell you with a few added detail: Bowser, the evil King of Koopas, has kidnapped Princess Peach, the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario, our hero of the story, goes to find the princess. 'Cept, this time, Bowser's got intergalactic plans to rule the universe with Peach by his side. With the failed rescue attempt at the beginning of the game, Mario gets sent to the first galaxy where he gets the ability to spin attack from a princess named Rosalina. The story kicks off from there and Mario is sent off to collect 120 stars from the clutches of Bowser's minions.
Gameplay - 10/10
Everything you did in Sunshine and Super Mario 64 is there, but much more fleshed out than they ever could do it, along with the addition of the spin attack. Jumping around feels fun as you run through the galaxies, and it can sometimes cause gravity to break loose. Jumping off the top of a tower lands you on the other side of a planet, jumping off a circular planet can land you on another planet, etc. The camera works much, much better than it did in Sunshine and SM64 and can actually follow Mario's movements and is actually controllable. It has it's flaws, but it makes the experience much more fun.
Graphics - 9/10
Comparing Galaxy to a PS3 game is sort of unfair, but there's only a tiny difference in the power of the Wii and the PS3. The graphics are simply breathtaking and never get old. Everything is detailed, from the look of the grass to the look of the enemies, it's clear that Nintendo tryed their hardest to create these graphics. It's the best looking game on the Wii so far, and it really submerges you into the gameplay.
Multiplayer - 7/10
Considering that the single player mode is more of what Nintendo expected you to play I can't take off too many points for it. But the multiplayer mode is nothing special. The first player controls Mario and the second player controls a second pointer that can make Mario jump and break things that the normal pointer could never break. There's a special jump when you can both press A at the same time, but it doesn't go much higher and isn't special either.
Replay Value - 10/10
With 120 stars to collect the game never gets old. Some stars are easy and some are hard. The difficulty of the game in itself makes you never frustrated (okay there's 2 I'm thinking of right now that are the exception) and makes it a really fun time collecting all of the stars. In fact, you'll find yourself replaying stars for the fun of it. There's also a special incentive for beating the game with all of them, but I won't spoil it here.
Buy or Rent? Buy
Renting this game is not the thing to do for this game. With it's great graphics, gameplay, story, and replay value it'll keep you playing for a lot longer than a rent could ever do.
