Review by MisterMarioMan

"If killing mindlessly with a lightsaber is wrong, then I don't wanna be right."

If you like violence and bloodshed for no real reason other than to say you're the best at causing violence and bloodshed, then this is the game for you. No More Heroes puts you in the role of Travis Touchdown, a young man who, while trying to make some money, kills one of the worlds best assassins. Travis is told that he could earn as much money as he wanted if he worked his way up to the very top, so he sets out to kill the worlds other best assassins to claim the title of number one.

As you may have guessed, you kill a LOT. The wii remote and nunchuk offer plenty of different ways to kill enemies, from pro-wrestler moves to basic hack and slash fun with your lightsaber-esque weapon. Killing enemies will net you money, wish in turn can be used for, you guessed it, more stuff for killing enemies(It can also be spent on clothes, which is... yeah.)

The main character, Travis, is the kind of bad ass we all secretly want to be. He swears, he kills, but he's cool, and seemingly does well with the ladies. He's joined for most of his mission by Sylvia, a mysterious vixen who helps him progress to become the world's top assassin. The characters are for the most part likable and do not detach from the greatness of the game at all.

The game-play can be somewhat repetitive sometimes, but it's fast-paced and very fun. Theres never any need for puzzle solving or anything of the like, which would have been a mistake with this game. It's very quick style game-play, focusing on entering a room, killing everyone in it, then going to the next room. It's simple and fun enough to keep you wanting more.

The game suffers greatly from the slowdown between the assassins. In order to battle one, you must earn enough money to challenge them to a match. While you'll have earned some from the previous assassin, most of it must be earned by doing various odd-jobs around the city. This includes things like mowing lawns and picking up trash. It's incredibly slow-paced and boring and does not belong in a game like this. I'm not entirely sure why they didn't just allow you to go straight from one match to another, and this is where the game suffers a lot.

Overall, this is a great game. It has great styles of game-play, but the lame money-making segments stuck in between the assassins is very difficult to ignore. The story and the characters are great, and the mindless deaths caused by you is sickeningly enjoyable. If you enjoy a good action game, then give this one a shot.
