"The Game that Almost Came from Dreamland"

Introduction:

Kirby's Return to Dream Land is the first console main line Kirby game in several years. It contains the normal powers for Kirby such as copy ability, inhale, and flight. Like many Kirby games, it is somewhat easy to begin with but has challenge at the end.

Gameplay: 9/10

Gameplay is a very high point for the game, as is the case with most Kirby games. Inhaling is as fun as ever, and most of the worlds are a joy to go about. Water is a low point for this, but the game offers great challenge near the end and has a very exciting climax which I can't spoil at world 8. The water, however, does handle better than in some other games. The bosses are creative, the minigames are fun, and there are plenty of extras. The gameplay still truly is triple-A.

Story: 6/10

The story has a surprise near the end that isn't that surprising, but it doesn't matter. Story only affects a game if it is good. The basic plot is that a alien name Magolor crash lands onto the planet and Kirby wants to help him. The story really does nothing that affects how good the game is.

Graphics: 8.5/10

Graphics are very good, but with the action going on, it ends up looking much better in screenshots. However, this is the WIi, and I don't care that this is an unreleased Gamecube game, the graphics are very good for the Wii. Kirby looks like the spherical puffball he was always meant to, and there is much detail.

Sound: 8.5/10

The sound is great, especially the boss themes. The sound works well in many worlds, and it easily becomes one with the game. It has very memorable tracks, and sometimes it suits the background so well that it goes unnoticed. It suits the game, and releases an aura that shows that this is a Kirby game. Mostly, the soundtrack is amazing.

Playtime and Replayability: 7.5/10

The playtime is very short. However, there are many modes, and the game is fun enough to replay. Not great or bad, but could be quite better. Than again, what you have is very enjoyable.

Conclusion: 8.5/10

Kirby's Return to Dreamland is very fun, and has enough gameplay to be worth your while. It isn't too long, but you'll enjoy the heck out of it while you still can. A truly great game, it is definitely worth your time and money.

8.5/10 is not an average, categories are weighted appropriately for the genre. Thus, I have given it an 8/10.
