    Hello, welcome to ac_helper's Quest and Special Request Guide
    for Endless Ocean: Blue World!
    I will lead you through the quests and special requests part of your
    black notebook. If you get stuck, just check the guide to see where
    to go or what to do next!
    Use the CTRL + F search for the 3 letter abbreviation that represents
    the part you wish to read.
    
    You may notice some parts do not "quite" happen as I wrote them.
    I took some poetic license to keep it interesting to read. If I simply
    listed what was in the book, and do A, B, and C, it would be really
    boring to read, wouldn't it?

    The quests will be listed in the order they appear in your book after
    you have triggered them all, BUT they will not appear in this order.
    Different things, like finding a certain item, person, or after a
    certain time in the main plot will trigger them.
    
    I will list the quest name, followed by any info about how it
    triggers, if known, then the parts of the quests as they appear in
    your book, and how to complete them.
    The quests' parts will not always trigger in the same order they
    appear in your book, though.
    
    You may notice quest #4, Pride of the Salvage King, previously
    appeared in my Salvage Guide. Yes, I am the same person that wrote
    that guide too, so I will simply repeat what was in that guide.
    
    So here we go! Questward, ho!

      1. BE THE BEST TRAINER [BTR]
     ---------------------------------------
    
    At some point early in the main plot, you will be introduced to a
    Short-beaked common dolphin for you to name and train. It can learn
    six different tricks, and after it does, a mode known as "free training"
    is unlocked for all the dolphins. Later in the main plot you will
    also befriend a Spectacled porpoise. These will be the only two
    you will befriend as part of the main plot.
    
    After your dolphin has leveled up to level 2, you will
    notice your notebook now has listed a new quest, called
    "Be the Best Trainer". Click on it to let it tell you that
    Hayako wants to talk to you.
    
    Likely triggers: dolphin has done training & is at level 2;
    Hayako is with your party.

    1. THE NAME IS...
    
    After you choose to speak with her, Hayako talks about a man named
    Finley; the self-proclaimed "best trainer in the world" heard you
    managed to befriend a couple of wild dolphins and are now training
    them! He wants to see what you've been doing, and a request for a
    "dolphin show" is now in Hayako's hands.
    
    Whenever you are ready, talk to Hayako, choose "requests", then
    choose the request from Finley in her queue.
    
    The man in question arrives, and simply can't believe his ears: you
    are training wild dolphins! He demands to see a show made up of the
    dolphin's tricks. Well, OK, we can do that!
    Show him each trick at least once; since your dolphin is level 2, show
    him those tricks as well, until end of show. Don't forget to show him
    the tricks he requests at the end!
    Dolphin Show reward (minimum): 1,000P
    
    (NOTE: Finley lets you do 5-7 "combos" for the show; the first
    4-6 you choose the tricks yourself, the final one he asks for 2
    specific tricks for that "combo." "Combo" refers to the fact a
    level 2 dolphin can perform 2 tricks at a time.)
    
    Afterwards, he grudgingly concedes that perhaps you MIGHT be smart
    enough to actually be considered a trainer at some point later in
    time, but not now! Oceana now opens her BIG mouth and confidentally
    declares we're better than he is at training! (Now WHO is training
    these dolphins, Oceana, You or ME!? Zip your lip!) He declares he
    wants you to hold 3 dolphin shows and then he'll come back and
    evaluate your progress.
    
    This means that holding dolphin shows is now unlocked for you.
    When you want to accept one, talk to Hayako and choose one in her
    queue. If she doesn't have any, do something else that requires a
    couple of days, like traveling to another location; or simply rest
    until the next day in the cabin until one appears.
    
    You will know your client has been "entertained" by the dolphin show
    if Oceana (who is seen in the background when the client tells you
    how you did and gives your money for the show) nods or claps at you;
    the client will say something about how much they enjoyed the show.
    
    Dolphin Show Tips: Try to use each trick at least once. I recommend
    having your dolphins know level 2 tricks before accepting any requests.
    To get your dolphins to level 2, use free training mode for 15-20
    minutes, change the day (so they can get better; they can only
    get to a certain point each day), then repeat.
    If they are nearly ready an untimed request from Hayako will appear
    in her queue; it is seen as a "level certificate". I usually notice
    these before the dolphin is ready to level up, so I train them a
    little more, then take the request. The same goes for level 3.
    
    NOTE: depending on how well your dolphin does tricks and what
    order you use during the show, the client will want 7-8 combos,
    with the final combo being a specific request from them.
    
    A fast way to get this part done: rest in the cabin until your
    dolphin show queue is full, then just do all 3 shows one right
    after the other.
    
    So, after you have held 3 dolphin shows, wait a day or so (in-game),
    then you should notice a new entry in your book.
    
    
      Summary:

     2. FINLEY RETURNS
    
    Talk to Hayako, who tells you Finley is ready to come back to
    evaluate your progress. He wants you to do another show for
    him. So do the show, and if he likes it, he'll tell you a secret:
    a pure white dolphin has been seen in Ciceros Strait. He WOULD
    go see for himself, but is busy with other things. Oceana opens
    her now infamous big mouth and happily declares WE will get there
    & befriend it first!
    (What's this "WE"? Who really does ALL the work?!)
    
    NOTE: for this show, Finley lets you do 6-7 "combos", the
    first 5-6 your choice, the last one with his requests.
    
    So off we go to Ciceros Strait to find a dolphin!
    Dive with Oceana after arriving; swim to Cross Rift (F-5&6). A
    cutscene should trigger where you see a white bottlenose dolphin
    trapped inside Cross Rift with a tiger shark! Pulsar the shark, then
    get another cutscene where you dance with the now-rescued and
    grateful dolphin. Name it when you have the chance, and then head
    home.
    
    
      Summary:

     3. THUS SPOKE FINLEY
    
    Talk to Hayako again; Finley heard you befriended the white
    bottlenose dolphin! He wants to see for himself. After walking
    down to the dock, he looks at the dolphin, and make remarks about
    albinos in the wild. He now thinks you "might" be OK. He asks for
    you to "entertain" three or more people.
    
    Do more shows; remember they only count IF Oceana nods or claps
    after the client says how they liked the show. When the requirement
    is fulfilled, talk to Hayako again.
    
    
      Summary:

     4. GOSSIP FINLEY
    
    After noticing a new entry in your book again, talk to Hayako. Finley
    magically appears once again! He tells you of a narwhal seen in the
    Arctic Ocean (the North Coast of Canada). It seems to be special
    in some way, and while he'd love to go see it, maybe you would
    like to go instead. So guess where we're off to!
    
    After arriving, dive with Oceana. Go to the breathing hole at D-1&2;
    look around and note a narwhal with a reddish tusk; focus on it.
    That triggers a cutscene with Jean-Eric telling you that maybe it would
    react to Oceana, in reaction to a legend about red-tusked narwhals.
    
    Go ashore and watch the tusks poke up out of the water. Position
    yourself so you can see BOTH the water and your diving equipment
    (so you can quickly click on it). When you see a reddish tusk,
    quickly choose to dive again. If you didn't choose the right one, go
    ashore again and repeat.
    When you get the right tusk, you have to focus on the correct narwhal
    again; then get the cutscene where it reacts to Oceana, then takes
    to you as well. Name it and head home!

     5. FINLEY'S SECRET
    
    Chat with Hayako again; guess who shows up! Finley has a secret,
    and the only way to find it out is accept his latest demand: either
    hold 20 shows, or do 100 training sessions with your dolphins.
    After that he will consider you worthy enough to hear his secret.
    So let's get to it!
    
    20 dolphin shows: the 6 you previously held for the earlier parts
    of the quest DO count, as any more you did between the quest parts.
    Although I am not certain if they all need to be considered "good",
    it would be a good idea to aim for a good reaction from each client.
    NOTE: the two you held for Finley also count toward this!
    
    100 training sessions: if for some reason you decide you are done
    with doing shows, and want to do this instead (there IS a title for
    doing 100 training sessions, after all), try this:
    go down to dock, near the end, and ring the dolphin bell. Choose any
    dolphin you have; skip the cutscene where you actually ring the bell,
    and let the screen load. DON'T DO ANYTHING. Exit out with the minus
    (-) button. Rinse and repeat. Every now and then, look at your records
    (in the titles screen) and note how many sessions you've done.
    Stop after getting to 100. You're done.
    
    NOTE: if you really don't think you have the time necessary to sit
    and get to 100 training sessions in one go, try this: each time before
    you do a normal training session for your dolphin, enter/exit the
    training screen about 10-20 times before you actually do any training;
    this way you could have anywhere from a third to half your needed
    training sessions already done before you even begin the quest!
    
    After either requirement is complete (perhaps after an in-game day),
    you will notice a new entry in your book. Have another chat with
    Hayako. As if on cue, Finley arrives to congratulate you-and trust
    you with his secret.
    A pure white beluga with an odd pattern has been sighted in the Arctic
    (the North Coast of Canada; same place as the narwhal); you know
    why he told you about it, don't you?
    
    Head off to the Arctic again; you can dive alone this time. Go to the
    southwest breathing hole (A-4) where Finley said the beluga was.
    View cutscene, then try focusing on the correct beluga (the one with
    a flower pattern on its back).
    After focusing on the correct one (it may take a few tries), use the
    sea whistle. It likes the sound, and now you get to play a cute little
    game with it: it makes a sound, you repeat it with your whistle.
    Try to time the whistle right and eventually it becomes your friend!
    Dance with it, name it and then head for the warmer climes of home.
    
    
      Summary:

     6. FINLEY SHOCKED
    
    Have yet another chat with Hayako about Finley afterwards; well,
    he apparently heard all about your latest dolphin friend. He is, to be
    mild, shocked at how many dolphin friends you've managed to make
    and how they've taken to you. He now has a somewhat more "personal"
    request for you.
    
    He knows of a false killer whale in Valka Castle, one that he may know
    the story behind. He wants you to find and befriend it. Well, OK!
    Piece of cake for the world's up-and-coming best dolphin trainer,
    right? Finley's gentle warning this might not be so easy falls on deaf
    ears as you prepare to head off for your next befriending.
    
    Jet off to Ciceros Strait, then head for Valka Castle.
    Swim through the well, and up the Spiral Tower. Near the top, take note
    of a false killer whale laboriously swimming around; cue the cutscene. He
    seems to be quite leery of humans; perhaps the scar on his forehead
    was the result of a human action? He flees to the EAST.
    Swim east to the Collapsed Gallery; there he is! Focus on him this time;
    he flees to the NORTH now. Swim into the northern (main) part of
    the Castle; he's in the Armory (first room on the right) this time.
    Focus on him again; he is still leery, but not quite as afraid of you
    this time. He flees NORTH yet again. Swim to the Treasure Vault (the
    room with the hole in the door Oceana gets through to open); focus
    on him again, he flees EAST.
    Swim to the Mermaid's Ballroom; there he is! But wait, there's
    another false killer whale that's usually here too. Don't confuse the
    two! Equip the pulsar, and look for the false killer whale that shows a
    red target. Pulsar that one, and then focus on him to get a cutscene
    where you pull out a splinter from the scar on his head.
    He is so grateful to you he loses his fear of humans and becomes
    you friend! Dance, name him, and then head for home to show off your
    newest friend to Finley.

     7. FINLEY'S PAST
    
    Talk to Hayako yet again; a very interested Finley shows up to hear
    the tale of how you befriended the very-mistrusting-of-humans 
    false killer whale. You and he take a walk down to the dock to have
    a look at it. He then explains why the false killer whale was
    so afraid of humans. The rest of these creatures in Ciceros Strait
    were thought to be competing with humans for the fish; so all the
    false killer whales were trapped in a net and killed. The only one that
    escaped from the net was the one you just befriended; the scar on his
    head was from that escape.
    
    Now Finley tells you that YOU are the one he's been looking for;
    he wants YOU to befriend all the dolphins and whales of the world!
    Only then will you be able to be called "the world's best dolphin
    trainer". As a reward for getting this far, Finley gives you a couple
    of cool items - Shark Fin (Tank) and Shark Fins (Fins)!
    
    There are 5 more dolphins/whales for you to befriend until this quest
    is over. In no particular order, they are:
    
     _____________________________
    
      Amazon River Dolphin: Twilight Temple (Cortica River, Upstream)
    
    Dive with whoever you choose, it really doesn't matter. (You'll find
    out why in a minute.) Dive at the Upstream site, go upstream.
    Swim into the Twilight Temple; get a cutscene with Jean-Eric telling
    you about the Amazon River dolphins, and about a pink one that is
    now with the others.
    
    Now get auto-yanked back to the boat (now you know why it didn't
    matter who you dove with); after a discussion about how you get it
    to trust you, you get the bright idea that it might trust a female
    dolphin partner. WHAT?! Well, the narwhal you befriended is considered
    to be female; why not dive with it and see what happens?
    
    So, dive with the narwhal (on the dive screen, scroll over past the
    human partners and choose the narwhal); hitch a ride and ride it all
    the way into the Temple. (If you don't ride it all the way in, it may
    get stuck outside.) Get a cutscene; re-hitch yourself to the narwhal.
    Lead the narwhal close to the pink Amazon river dolphin and stay close.
    Jean-Eric will give you annoying little updates on how close you are
    to befriending it. Eventually, after swimming in little circles for what
    seems like forever, you get the cutscene you want to see.
    
    Dance, name, go home (unless you wish to use your new friend to move
    the tree in the river to uncover the rest of the Midstream map).
    
     _____________________________
    
      Pacific white-sided Dolphin: Deep Hole (Gatama Atoll)
    
    On your first time back to Deep Hole after getting this far in the
    dolphin quest, you will get a cutscene (maybe unwelcome, depending on
    what you were planning on doing there) after going through the Kelp
    Tunnel and entering Deep Hole proper. Jean-Eric tells you about a
    Pacific white-sided dolphin with an oddly colored dorsal fin.
    After you focus on it, it flees! Oh, no! Not again! No, you don't have
    to chase it around this time; Jean-Eric simply tells you since it fled,
    come back another day and try again.
    
    The second time you go back, focus on it again; choose to poke it
    (press "down", choose the food tool, wave the Wiimote around until
    your hand "pokes" the creature); it gets so surprised it takes off.
    Jean-Eric replies if you come another day it might calm down and
    not be so afraid.
    Note: you may have to poke it twice to get the cutscene you need.
    
    The third time you come back, find and focus on the same dolphin
    again. This time, you get an option to "play" with it. Choose to play,
    and this time the dolphin will play, and then become your friend!
    
    NOTE: the proper dolphin has white fins with small black
    stripes (almost like a zebra pattern), with the other "normal"
    dolphins having half white and half black fins.
    
     _____________________________
    
      Risso's Dolphin: Zahhab Region Depths (Zahhab Region)
    
    Dive at the Twin Crevasses, and choose to enter the Northern Crevasse.
    Go all the way down to about 440 ft [134m]; note there are now two
    Risso's dolphins swimming around down at that depth (at B-2E).
    Focus on the correct one, and get a cutscene. It's hungry, so give it
    some food. What? It's STILL hungry? It's really, really hungry!
    
    Now get auto-yanked back to the boat. Hayako mentions that Risso's
    dolphins eat alot compared to other dolphins, and it needs more food.
    Doesn't Nancy sell an item or two in the "other" category that would
    feed it? She sells extra-fresh squid meat, which is what the dolphin
    would love. If you didn't already buy the first two items Nancy sold
    in the "other" category, the "squid meat" and "seafood set", go buy
    them now. If you already have both, re-dive.
    
    Re-dive, then focus on the correct dolphin again. Choose to give him
    the squid meat; he is STILL hungry, so give him the seafood set too.
    Do your dance with the dolphin, name him, then go home.
    
     _____________________________
    
      Orca: Zahhab Region (G-6&7)
    
    Dive and swim to the area with a whole pod of orcas, around G-6&7.
    Keep focusing on orcas until you find one that "interests" Hayako.
    Over the radio, she will comment on it, and she asks you to come
    back to the boat. -sigh-. Return to the boat, and she asks to dive
    with you to see this orca. She has a suspicion about it.
    (The correct orca has a larger white "saddle" on its midsection than
    the others, fading out instead of abuptly ending.)
    
    So re-dive with Hayako, and go back out to the orca pod. Focus on the
    same orca; Hayako comments about the orca and wants you to return to
    the boat so she can confirm her hunch and tell you all about it.
    
    Get auto-yanked back to the boat; Hayako now tells you she knows this
    particular orca! She helped a bunch of beached orcas in the area awhile
    back, and this orca she took back to the aquarium and nursed it back
    to health. It has a scar on its head, & that's how she knew it was the
    same one. She tells you if you had something that was shaped like an
    orca, like a float, you could use that to attract this one to you.
    Didn't Nancy sell a float in her "other" category? If you already
    haven't, go buy it.
    
    Return and dive again. Focus on the correct orca; choose to show
    it the float. Do your dance, name your new friend, then go home.
    
    NOTE: the special request for this dolphin will not show up
    until after you complete the main plot. This could be due to the
    fact all the rest of the "other" items Nancy sells do not become
    available until this time.

      Commerson's Dolphin: Cavern of the Gods (after re-opening ONLY!)
    
    After you re-open the Cavern of the Gods, you may have been going in
    and out of the Pillars of Light and noticed the Commerson's dolphin
    pod. However, there is one particular dolphin that is not with the
    others. This one has taken it upon itself to "guard" the "lady"
    in the Treasure Chamber. Swim into the Treasure Chamber, and get
    a cutscene. You see this dolphin swimming around the "lady's" head,
    and suddenly it comes towards you. You hear an odd voice resounding
    in your head, "You must make an offering to the lady. Your loyalty
    will be rewarded. Bring her two symbols of protection."
    What was THAT?! there's no one else in here with you. Where did that
    voice come from?
    
    You get auto-yanked back to the boat. The entire party on the boat
    heard the same voice you did. They all comment on it. "There's no WAY
    that it was the dolphin....dolphins don't TALK". "Yes, but there wasn't
    anyone else IN there." Well, it wanted gifts for the "lady". After a
    certain time, you may have noticed Nancy sold a whole bunch of
    different gifts in the "other" category. If you didn't buy them all,
    go do that now. When ready, re-dive and enter the Treasure Chamber.
    
    Get a cutscene again; the same dolphin comes up and you hear the
    same voice repeating the same words you heard before, about bringing
    the "lady" two symbols of "protection".
    "Present your charm to the lady" (Charm). "The lady accepts."
    Present a "talisman" (Scarab). Now it wants two symbols of "vanity".
    Present "cosmetics" (Scarlet Lipstick), then "looking glass"(Decorative
    Mirror). Now it wants two symbols of "fortune". Present "woven fortune"
    (Misanga); present "bracelet" (Bracelet). Now two symbols of love.
    Present "flower" (Carnation); present "bouquet" (Roses).
    Now it wants a "guardian beast" (Plastic Monster). All DONE!
    FINALLY! "Your true loyalty will be rewarded. I will now become your
    faithful ally." Do the dance with the dolphin, name it, DONE!
    
    NOTE: the special request for this dolphin will not show
    up until after you have re-opened the Cavern of the Gods!

      Summary:

    Go to the Zahhab Region; then Cavern of the Gods, Treasure Chamber
    Note the Commerson's dolphin; return to boat
    Go buy rest of gift items from Nancy (skip if already done)
    Re-dive; go back to Treasure Chamber
    Give Charm, then Scarab, then Scarlet Lipstick, then Decorative Mirror
    Then give Misanga, then Bracelet, then Carnation, then Roses
    Last give Plastic Monster; befriend Commerson's dolphin

      END: ETERNAL RIVALS
    
    Talk to Hayako again; Finley shows up for the last time. He is amazed
    that you managed to befriend all the dolphins and whales of the world!
    He now says you are worthy of being his eternal rival, and gives you
    a nice reward: Shark (wetsuit) and Converter Lung (BCD).
    After a last admonishment, he takes his leave, never to be seen again.

      2. FRAGMENTS OF MEMORY [FOM]
     -------------------------------------------
    
    This quest can be one of THE most frustrating quests of all.
    Just take it easy, pick and choose which requests you take (when
    you can), and save your "A" and "B" pictures for other requests;
    the same requests can pop up from time to time.
    I advise taking lots of pictures of creatures under glows,
    and waiting for those requests to pop up.
    
    You get an underwater camera after the end of Chapter 2 of the main
    plot; you are then told how to use it, and an untimed request shows
    up in Jean-Eric's queue for a picture of a manta ray. After you are
    done with that request, this quest should almost immediately trigger.
    
    If the next part of the quest does not show up in your book, just
    keep submitting photos, trying for "A" and "B" rated ones.
    Keep those, but toss all others. Although "C" rated pictures ARE
    published, they do not count for the quest.
    
    If you read this before starting the quest, try skimming through it
    and noticing what pictures are required for each part, then take the
    photos and place them in your album before you need them. This
    way, you can have the needed photos ready to go. About 95%
    of this quest CAN be triggered BEFORE you even start Chapter 3!
    Only the final part cannot be triggered quickly, because of the
    requirements you need to fulfill to trigger it.
    
    NOTE: You get some extra Ps for A-D rated pictures, in
    addition to the listed Ps for the specific request:
    
    You get an extra 2,000P for an "A" rated picture
    You get an extra 1,500P for a "B" rated picture
    You get an extra 1,000P for a "C" rated picture
    You get an extra 500P for a "D" rated picture
    You get NO extra Ps for an "E" rated picture
    
    Helper's tips: try for "A" photos by taking pictures of creatures
    found under glows. You will almost always get an "A" for these
    photos. The exception is IF the creature's eye(s) is away from
    the camera, and the entire creature is a blurry lump. You will
    be lucky to get a "C" rating for those. The magazines don't seem
    to mind if some of the glow creature is blurry, though.

     1. ALL WASHED UP
    
    You may notice a note in your book that Nancy wants to have a chat.
    Call her on the radio, then if you have any business for her, finish
    that. When you are done, before she leaves she will stand by the gate
    and tell you about a diver that was hospitalized after an accident.
    The doctor says he will be OK, but he has a case of mild amnesia.
    The diver thinks he used to be an underwater photographer, and would
    like some pictures to try to jog his memory.
    
    Your first job for him is to get a picture of a Humphead wrasse.
    It's commented that a pair of them swim around near the entrance
    to Deep Hole (in Gatama Atoll, E-7). She then leaves, and the request
    (untimed) shows up in Jean-Eric's queue.
    
    When you finally have a nice picture, give it to Jean-Eric. He comments
    he will give it to Nancy the next time she shows up and see how the
    diver is doing. So call Nancy, and after you are done, she will comment
    the the diver seems to have remembered a little about himself.
    She gives you a new haircut - "Rock" style as a reward.

     2. MEMORY OF A FISH
    
    Nancy wants to have another chat about the diver with amnesia.
    It seems he thinks another picture will help him more. He wants a
    picture of an "Orange sea slug". More comments about maybe they
    are around the Spring Garden in Gatama Atoll.
    They can be found under sandy glows at: C-5, G-6, or B-7
    
    So after you get a picture of an orange sea slug, give it to Jean-Eric,
    call Nancy, and talk to her. She tells you the diver will appreciate
    it, and then gives you a Medieval BCD as a reward.

    (found at F&G-5). Well, since the landmark won't be moving around
    like a fish does, this should seem easier than the first two requests.
    
    Get the picture, then give to Jean-Eric; call Nancy, then talk to her.
    She thanks you for the picture, then gives you your reward - a
    Pro Tank.

    (in water: G-4&5; on land: G&H-3).

    Nancy wants to have another chat about the diver. It seems he's

    helping him out, especially the young woman Oceana. He recalls having
    a daughter about her age and would like a picture of her (hmmmm.....).
    
    This one is quite easy; just walk into the water a little, and get a
    shot of Oceana as she sits aimlessly on the dock on Nineball Island.
    
    You know the drill by now; give picture to Jean-Eric, call Nancy, talk.
    Jean-Eric seems especially anxious to have a chat with ML (now I
    wonder WHY?), and although ML currently has no plans to visit, he
    will leave the door open to that possibility later on.
    Nancy thanks you and gives you a nice reward - Cybonic (wetsuit).

     A. FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHER
    
    Nancy wants to have a talk again, so call and talk to her. She says
    that the diver is out of the hospital, and thinks you may have what it
    takes to be a good freelance photographer, and wants to commission
    a few pictures from you. The first one is a picture of a Whale shark.
    
    There are two of them: one makes a large circuit in Gatama Atoll
    (A&B-1; A to C-2; B to E-3; C to G-4; D&E&G-5; E to G-6; F&G-7);
    the other, larger one swims near Mushroom Rock in the Zahhab Region
    (E&F-1&2).
    (NOTE: if this triggers before you get to the Zahhab Region and
    the end of the main plot, you will have to get a shot of the Gatama
    Atoll Whale shark as it makes its circuit.)
    Pick one to take a photo of, then give it to Jean-Eric, then call Nancy
    and talk to her. She thanks you, and instead of an item, she says
    ML wants you to have a special ability: the ability to develop photos
    in black-and-white!
    
    (The Black & White setting is the first of the rolls of film
    icons you will see when looking at an undeveloped picture.)

     B. UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHER
    
    Have another chat with Nancy; she says ML is wants to commission
    another picture from you, if you don't mind; that of a rarely seen
    creature he couldn't find on his last trip to Ciceros Strait.
    He wants you to get a picture of a Basking shark. This one won't be
    so easy; a basking shark is found only at night in Ciceros Strait, and
    has a VERY wide circuit it swims leisurely in.
    
    Well, you can try diving aimlessly at different spots at night (and
    risk running into an angry great white shark if you want!), or recall
    that the path showing in the book looks like this:

    When you have the photo you need, give it to Jean-Eric, then call Nancy.
    After she talks to you, she tells you ML really likes how you're shaping
    up to be a good photographer, and has another gift for you from him-
    the ability to develop pictures in sepia tone! (If you're not sure what
    this is, take a look at any REALLY old photo; it looks like a tan-and-
    white picture rather than true black-and-white. This brown/tan-
    and-white "tone" is called "sepia".)
    
    (The Sepia setting is the second of the rolls of film icons
    you will see when looking at an undeveloped picture.)

     C: A BIG REQUEST
    
    Have another talk with Nancy; it seems ML wants a final test of your
    photography skills. He wants a picture of - a Blue whale! Wait,
    isn't that creature too large to fit in the frame to even TAKE a
    picture? Jean-Eric, photographer that he is, even comments this one
    won't be so easy! Well, you know the Blue whales you saw in the
    Arctic (North Coast of Canada) was HUGE! How are you going to fit
    all of a Blue whale in your frame? No use sighing over this one.
    May as well go get it done.
    
    Go to the North Coast of Canada, and note these whales have a VERY
    large area they travel in; remember what the book noted?
    A-1N&SE; B-1N&SW; C-1NW&S; B-2N; C-2; D-2SW; C-3N; D-3NW&S;
    B-4E; C-4. (Although you didn't see it in the book, you think it was
    105 ft, or 32m). After finding one, swim somewhat away from it (after
    noticing its swimming pattern), and try to get its whole body in the
    camera frame. Perhaps wait until it's turning; this helps compact its
    in a slightly smaller area and makes it a bit easier for you to get
    body the entire whale in the frame (but you have to be fast!).
    NOTE: this request will accept a headshot of the Blue whale; it
    does not seem to be important whether the entire whale ends up in
    the shot or not.
    
    After you finally get the picture requested, talk to Jean-Eric, call
    Nancy and talk to her. It seems ML is thrilled you passed his test!
    So thrilled, in fact, he gives you an extra-special gift: the ability
    to develop pictures toy-camera style! While not for the serious
    pictures wanted by the magazines, this ability is mainly just for
    having a lot of fun with.
    
    Nancy now states ML thinks you are a great photographer, just like
    he is, and may contact you in the future. (No, he doesn't, though.)
    
    (The Toy Camera setting is the third of the rolls of film
    icons you will see when looking at an undeveloped picture.)

      3. FIND THE BLUE BIRD [FBB]
     -------------------------------------
    
    This is only an aggravating quest if you let it be. Follow the bird's
    clues (and the instructions) and you won't go wrong!
    
    You should notice this in your book after mid Chapter 2
    of the main plot, after you have been to Ciceros Strait.
    (This is likely because part of the cutscene mentions Ciceros
    Strait as a place where the bird may go. Afterwards it does
    not matter if the area it talks about you have not been to yet.)

     1. THE BLUE BIRD
    
    You may notice a bright, beautiful blue bird just sitting there on the
    last dock support, near the boat, on Nineball Island. What's it doing
    there? Click on it and see! you hear a sweet melody from the bird,
    and a mysterious voice seems to say..."Follow...me...". The bird
    then flies away, toward Gatama Atoll.
    
    
      Summary:

     2. BIRD OF GOOD FORTUNE
    
    You MUST be hearing things again! You swore you heard that bird "say"
    to follow it! Oceana shrugs and says well, why not "follow" it?
    It looked like to flew towards Gatama Atoll. -sigh- As crazy as you
    think it is, you get everyone packed into the boat and out to
    Gatama Atoll you go. Since a bird needs to land somewhere, you figure
    it's on one of the land areas where you can go ashore.
    
    Dive and surface around map co-ordinates G-8; it looked as if the bird
    had flown that way. Go ashore, and notice the bird is now sitting on
    a bush; click on it. It flies away again, and as it goes, you think you
    hear a voice say "Those who seek me...Triton Cove..." Triton what?
    Where is THAT? Then you notice something on the ground where the
    bird was. It's a pair of "Dry Gloves" (diving gloves). Return to the
    boat, scratching your head and wondering WHAT is going on.
    Well, time to go home and ponder this a little while.
    
    As you arrive, you notice someone heading for your dock. Who is this? 
    She arrives, and introduces herself as Tisera. She says she has been
    searching the world for a certain blue bird, and thinks you just saw
    the bird she is looking for! She says she knows this bird lands at 7
    different places around the world, and would YOU to find them all!
    
    
    
      Summary:
    Go out to Gatama Atoll
    Dive; surface, then go ashore at G-8
    Click on blue bird sitting on a bush
    Hear it say "Those who seek me...Triton Cove..."

     3. TISERA'S REQUEST
    
    Tisera has a very special task for you. She wants YOU to find all
    the landing spots of the blue bird. It lands around the world, so you
    are going to be very busy looking! She then wants you to report where
    the bird landed to her. She also states she will make the task worth
    your while (music to your ears!). After she leaves, it's time to
    figure out what that bird meant by "Triton Cove".
    
    Well, you know that there's a place in Ciceros Strait called "Triton
    Village ruins". What about around there? You thought you noticed an
    area that COULD be called a "cove" north of the ruins.
    With that in mind, you excitedly jet everyone off to Ciceros Strait.
    
    Dive near the Triton Village ruins, and swim north. Sure enough,
    around the central area of D-5, you find a cove. After going ashore,
    you notice there's nothing there! Oh, wait...a flash of blue...could
    it be? Yes! The blue bird is here! Click on it, and now as it flies
    away again, you hear something that sounds like "When the ice dances...
    in the frozen south..."
    Dancing Ice? Frozen south? What does that mean? As you look down,
    you notice something on the ground. A set of "Aqua Fins" (diving fins)
    sits there. As you take them and head for home, you wonder if you
    know where that "dancing ice" could be.
    
    
      Summary:
    Talk to Tisera
    Go to Ciceros Strait (D-5C, Triton Cove)
    Go ashore; click on blue bird
    Hear it say "When the ice dances...in the frozen south..."
    Receive "Aqua Fins" (diving fins)

     4. THE FROZEN LAND
    
    About the only "dancing ice" you know of could be found in the
    Weddell Sea (Antarctic); you suppose if something pushed the icebergs
    around enough, they could be said to "dance". What could push the ice
    around like that, though? Maybe...oh, great! It wasn't fun the last
    time you were there; there was a really big snowstorm you barely made
    it out of. The ice DID seem to "dance" around during that storm,
    though, didn't it? So let's go see if that blue bird can survive a
    near whiteout!
    
    Go to the Weddell Sea, and rest/dive until you get the message "It's
    a really bad snowstorm!", unless you are "lucky" enough to end up in
    the middle of a snowstorm right when you get there.
    
    So which landing spot would it be at? There are quite a few places
    to go ashore here. Deciding the bird wouldn't make it TOO difficult
    for you, you figure it might be at the very first place you dove near,
    when you first went there during the main plot. So...dive at the
    northeast area (D-1), and go ashore at the only place there: D-1E.
    
    Sure enough, as you squint through the blinding, blowing snow,
    you catch a glimpse of that now familiar flash of bright blue!
    It is close to you this time, just so you don't have to blunder around
    the area on the cold, wet, frozen ice. Click on the blue bird, and as
    it flies away, through the howling wind, you think you hear the
    bird say, "When curtains cover the sky...in the frozen north...".
    
    "Curtains"? "Frozen north"? Huh? as you look down through the
    blowing snow, you notice something on the ground. Another gift, no
    doubt. This time, it's a "Seeker BCD" (diving equipment again).
    Off to Nineball Island again, and to ponder what the bird meant
    this time.
    
    
      Summary:

    Wait until a snowstorm, then dive at the northwest diving site
    Go ashore at D-1E; click on blue bird

     5. THE HEAVENLY CURTAIN
    
    So you know you need to go to a cold area ("frozen") again. Yuck.
    However, what could the "curtains" mean? Nah, it couldn't mean...
    well, that "could" seem like a "curtain" of sorts....
    Let's go see! that's the only way we'll know, right?
    
    Jet off to the North Coast of Canada. Rest until midnight, and you
    get the message about the "aurora" being visible if you surface
    (this may take several "days" to get). Dive at the only diving area,
    and after figuring to visit the polar bear again just for fun before
    you go home, head for the ice hole at B-2SW. Go ashore and watch the
    gorgeous, shimmering, green "curtain" of the aurora borealis.
    
    Look around, and notice a surprising visitor watching the aurora too.
    It's the blue bird! Click on it, and as it flies away to its next
    landing spot, you think you hear it say "When blessings rain from
    above...in the green of the tropics..." "Blessings"? "Tropics"?
    What? Look down and notice another gift from the bird to you.
    This time it gave you a pair of "Precision Fins" (more diving stuff).
    Off to home again, and to wonder what that message meant.
    
    
      Summary:

    Rest until midnight and you get a message about aurora being

     6. GREEN BLESSINGS
    
    Well, at least it didn't say anything about being "frozen" this time.
    So you don't have to worry about the cold. "Tropics", huh. There
    was only one place you've been that could fit that description.
    But "Blessings rain from above"...oh, yuck. You have a good idea
    what it means; time to go test your theory out.
    
    Go to the Cortica River, Midstream. Rest or dive until begins to
    rain, then dive. (If you really hate those piranhas, dive at the 'to
    upstream' site, then just go south). The only places to go ashore
    here are the two islands literally smack in the middle of the river;
    surely the bird is on one of those two islands.
    
    Go ashore at the B-3N island and you'll see that welcome bright blue
    hue. It's just sitting there, in the rain, on the branch from a fallen
    tree on the island. Click on it, and you think you hear it say,
    "On the night of the full moon...on a red sandbank...".
    "Full moon"? "Red sandbank"? Bend down as you're musing and get
    the latest gift the bird left for you: "Natural" (Bikini-for women;
    Swim Shorts-for men). Now off to home and more wondering.
    
    
      Summary:

     7. RED FULL MOON
    
    Well, the bird has been almost all the way around the world.
    There's only one place it hasn't been yet: the Zahhab Region of the
    Red Sea. So now you know where, what about the "full moon" part?
    Well, that's easy! You likely need to wait until a full moon. EASY?!
    You can't check any charts on your boat, and the only way you know
    it's a full moon is by using the telescope on Nineball Island!
    
    Are you going to have to dive, night after night, until you get to a
    "full moon" night? well, no. Thanks to research, it's known that there
    is a phase of 3 days in a row that have a full moon. Simply wait on
    Nineball Island, checking the telescope each night, until the first
    night you get a "full moon" message. Then travel to the Zahhab Region;
    because of the way traveling works, you should get there on the day
    after the second full moon. Rest until night, and that is the final
    night of the 3 day full moon cycle.

    Now at Zahhab, dive at sunset (midnight works too); go ashore
    at the only place possible (C-2). Look left along the shoreline until
    you see the familiar blue bird. Click on it, and to your surprise,
    you think it says "Follow...me...to the happy place..."
    As it flies away again, you notice its gift to you on the ground:
    a "Sprayed Tank" (diving stuff again!?).
    As you head for home, you wonder about the "happy place".
    
    
      Summary:

    So now you've found all of the bird's landing places; it said something
    about a "happy place" to follow it to. As you head for home, you wonder.
    WHAT did the bird mean? And what about Tisera?
    As you move around the dock after coming back to Nineball Island,
    you see a very familiar flash of bright blue, sitting on the same dock
    support you first saw it on. NOW everything begins to fall into place...
    what Tisera said, and what the bird meant; you now understand it all.
    "Call Tisera", you quietly tell Oceana, as you reach for....
    the blue bird of happiness.
    
    After Tisera arrives, you report on where the bird landed, wondering
    why she wanted to know. But after you explain, and see the bird
    there, you see Tisera's facial expession change. She now tells you
    her story. Her family has long passed down a legend of a blue bird
    that would visit her family members, and bring happiness to all it
    came to. She herself had never seen the bird, and longed to find
    the happiness it brought; no matter how hard she looked, she never
    found the bird or its gift. You tell her what it said the final time
    you saw it; as it now flies away, Tisera says she understands when
    you told her it said to find "the happy place".
    She WILL find her own happiness, and stop chasing after what fleeting
    happiness her family members had. Tisera is grateful to you;
    VERY grateful you helped her on her own path to happiness.
    She then gives you a special diving suit: Ninja
    She then departs, vowing she will find her own happiness!

    1. SALVAGE TRIAL
    
    This appears in your black notebook sometime after you are done with
    the events in Valka Castle (Chapter 2). If you talk to him, Jean-Eric
    will tell you that someone named "FF" (Franklin Fischer) wants you to
    find something for him. After FF arrives, he lets you know this is a
    trial to see how good of a salvager you really are. He has no map, BUT
    he has a good idea where the item might be:

    Where- near the Wreck of the Demeter, Ciceros Strait (C&D-3)
    Reward- 3,000P
    
    
    Unlike some salvage requests, this is not timed. The ring
    will NOT show up as a red flash, either. It will be a normal
    flash. Remember a tourmaline ring will show up on the sensor
    as metal AND stone.
    
    It seems there is only one small ring item in that area,
    and that it's the Tourmaline Ring; near the Demeter wreck. The
    exact location changes for each save file. After this part of the
    quest is over, you will not find another Tourmaline Ring anywhere.
    
    When you do get the Tourmaline Ring after an appraisal, talk to
    Jean-Eric again. FF arrives to pick up his request, and you get
    your reward! Not bad. Now this request is over and you
    should get a "clear" stamp on it.

    2. MYSTERY CLIENT
    
    Well, FF likes your salvage skills. After talking to Jean-Eric again,
    he arrives with a new request: he wants you to find some German
    Pottery. O-K. Can do! What? No map again! No biggie. He knows
    about where it might be:
    
    
     REQUEST:
    What- German Pottery (small jar)
    Where- Shipwreck near the Triton Village ruins (Blood Lotus, D-7)
    Reward- Rockabilly (Haircut)
    
    
    Again, this will flash like a normal treasure. You are looking
    for a small jar item with high density.
    It seems there is only one small jar item in that area,
    and that it's the German Pottery; near the Blood Lotus wreck.
    NOTE: you MAY be able to find another one near the
    unnamed broken ship part south of the Blood Lotus wreck.
    After all, when Jean-Eric mentions that it can be found "near the
    shipwrecks by the Triton Village Ruins", he never does specify
    WHICH shipwreck he means.
    After this part of the quest is over, you will not be able to find
    another German Pottery anywhere.
    
    After you do get one, talk to Jean-Eric again. Here comes FF!
    He is so thrilled, you get a new haircut as a reward! All clear!

    For this one, GG is now with you on Nineball Island. He handles
    the main requests after he joins up with you after Chapter 4.
    This shows up as an untimed request in GG's queue, and is the first
    one you have to take before you can get any timed requests.
    A client named Kiyoko wants a specific item: the Explorer's Treasure.
    She says it is in a specific area in Ciceros Strait. Ah! She actually
    has a map. Nice:

    hand. One look at the map he gives you is enough to pinpoint
    where the item he wants is.
    
    NOTE: this may trigger after the end of Chapter 4 of the main plot.

    Where- Valka Castle (A&B-1&2 corner, in Treasure Vault room)

    This should be a really easy one. The map of Valka Castle is really
    simple to learn, if you've been there a few times for salvaging.

    GG starts this request. He tells you he and his partner were
    going to go after a treasure known as the "Spartan Treasure",
    thought to be located in a secret cave in Ciceros Strait. It's
    surrounded by whirlpools, and nearly impossible to get to except
    at night. He wants you to go there with him and find this long-
    lost treasure.
    After he talks to you, this shows up in your notebook as a
    "Treasure Rumor". So who's up for some night diving?
    
    
     REQUEST:
    What- Spartan Treasure
    Where- Ciceros Strait (E-6NC)
    Reward- ???
    
    
    So, dive at night with GG once there. Dive at the East Undines,
    it's right near where you need to go. Go into the cave, and use
    your multisensor. Nothing. NOTHING?! Wait, that can't be right!
    All the clues pointed here! Return to boat, then go home.
    Have another chat with GG, and FF will show up. This leads into
    part #6.
    
    NOTE: this may not trigger until AFTER the end of the main plot.

    GG either didn't remember, or know about: the treasure is only
    obtainable when the ground in the area rises, and it only does it
    on the night near a full moon!
    Well, with that bit of info, guess where we're off to again!

    Well, here we are again. So dive at night with GG, and swim
    to the cave. Go almost inside and you should trigger a cutscene.
    WAIT FOR THE CUTSCENE!!! That tells you it's the right time!
    No cutscene? Return to boat, rest until next night, repeat.
    Now use the multisensor and get a hit! Unbury your find, and
    return home. After Nancy's appraisal, talk to GG again.
    Now FF shows up, and is so pleased, he gives you a sweet new
    tank-a Ninja Sword!
    
    NOTE: Use the telescope on Nineball Island at midnight; wait until
    you get the "moon is waxing" message (this happens for 3 nights);
    travel the last night of this message to Ciceros Strait. Then rest
    until midnight and dive; you should only have to dive from 3-5
    nights to get the correct night. The correct night is the night
    right before the first night of the full moon.

    Well. -sigh- Off you go then.
    (NOTE: wait until night to get this. The sharks all move over a
    few squares and leave this area alone, so it's much easier to get!)

    Well, they want ice, we'll go get them some! Bundle up and head for
    the Weddell Sea.
    
    
    REQUEST:
    What- Ancient Ice
    Where- Weddell Sea (B-4, iceberg tip about 145 ft [44m] down)
    Reward- 5,000P and Bubble Bubble (male/female; swim trunks)
    
    
    This request requires you to dive with Hayako to finish it. It
    seems she knows about how far down the requested ice is.
    Go to where she tells you, and look for a sparkly, glowing area
    far down one of the icebergs.
    UH OH...we got company! Where'd HE come from? Somehow a great
    white shark is right IN FRONT of the very piece of ice you need!
    Well, that's what the trusty pulsar was made for, so get to it!
    After the shark is driven off, go take the ice and head for home.
    During a cutscene when you return, you get your reward.

    go away?) He then tells you he likes your salvaging skills so much,
    he wants YOU to find an item he could not: a Dark Statue in the
    Cortica Midstream area, likely near the Mangrove Maze. He said he
    searched and searched, but had no luck.
    Just then, GG pops his head into the conversation and casually
    notes there is a reason FF couldn't find it. He was missing a
    vital piece of info: it only shows up when it's RAINING.
    Cute.  Not only do you have to brave the eels, you have to wait
    until you get wet ON the boat, too. Guess where you're headed next.
    
    
     REQUEST:

    Where- Cortica River, Midstream, Mangrove Maze (B-1); (raining ONLY)
                 (mid-Mangrove area BEHIND plants, from Upstream it's on
                   the right-hand side)

    FF does NOT have a clue as to where the location is! Oh, you
    have to be KIDDING!
    No wonder he wanted YOU to do it! He doesn't want to have to
    traipse all over the world looking for this thing. What's he
    want this time? He wants WHAT?! Although FF says he'll make it
    worth your while, he better have some nice coin for you at the
    end of THIS request! GG has it in his queue; take when ready.
    Look carefully at the map FF gives you; you know where that
    looks like, right?

    the final one, and it WILL be well worth your while.
    Grumble, grumble...it BETTER be.

    Reward- 20,500P (only 20,000 listed); Ninja Fins
    
    
    This shows up as a red glow, and has no in game picture.
    After you finally identify the area and get the item, talk
    to GG; and one last time, FF shows up. A VERY happy and VERY
    grateful FF. So grateful, in fact, he has a special gift just
    for you. A set of very...odd...fins. Ninja fins?
    They look like wooden boards! Well, they're supposed to go
    with that Ninja Sword tank you got at the end of the 6th
    quest, so you almost have a full Ninja outfit. You only
    need a Ninja diving suit, now. (You can get one by completing
    one of the other quests; Find the Blue Bird, quest #3).

    This quest begins quite early; in fact, it shows up as early as
    the first time you go to Nineball Island. Just check for it in
    your black notebook.
    
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    
     1. ODD FISH
    
    When you go back to Gatama Atoll the first time after you get this
    in your book, Jean-Eric will get an interesting radio transmission.
    It seems several local fish have been exhibiting strange symptoms;
    perhaps they are ill. You are asked to go and heal them with your
    Pulsar. If you accept at that time, when you dive, Oceana will
    automatically be diving with you.
    If you decline, the mission will stay ready to be completed any time
    you return to Gatama Atoll (and EVERY time you dive there Jean-Eric
    WILL remind you and nag you until you accept it!).
    
    If you leave the main area, go back to the boat, or run out of air
    and get yanked back to the boat, you fail and must start again.
    (This is true for ALL parts of this quest. You MUST RE-ACCEPT
    the quest EACH TIME you fail. It is NOT automatic.)
    
    You are told that there are three different fish that need to be
    healed: a Manta ray, a West Indian manatee, and a Humphead wrasse.
    The Manta ray can be found in C-3C; the manatee in G-2C; and the
    Humphead wrasse in E-7N. They will have either red or purple
    targeting reticules on them, meaning they are quite ill.
    
    After you are done, you can return to Nineball Island. There you
    will be congratulated by the conservation group, and given a 2,000P
    reward for your helpfulness! When asked, the group thinks the fish
    were sickened from eating trash on the sea floor. Oceana declares
    that WE WILL help all the fish we can, since "we" caused the problem.
    She declares we will accept more missions from the group when
    they arise. You find yourself agreeing to help Oceana again.
    
    
      Summary:

    Accept mission; when diving Oceana goes too

     2. SCATTERED SEALS
    
    The first time after this shows up in your book, and you head out
    to Ciceros Strait, Jean-Eric gets another transmission from the
    conservation group. It seems 3 Mediterranean monk seals have gotten
    separated from the main group, and are possibly too injured to make
    their way back to the group.
    
    They are in 3 different locations: the Western Shallows (B-3);
    southeast of the wreck of the Emerald Lady (H-8, 35 ft); and near
    the Blue Dome (A-5) (usually it shows up INSIDE Blue Dome).
    You can heal them in any order you feel comfortable doing.
    
    When you decide to accept, Oceana goes with you again. This time
    it may get a little dangerous; a group of great white sharks hang
    out near the Emerald Lady. You decide to try swimming into the area
    from South Canyon to avoid being detected by Thanatos; the other
    sharks you know you can handle without a problem.
    
    After the mission is complete, you can return home for your reward;
    this time the conservation group sends an item along with your
    2,000P reward - Couture Fins!
    
    After asking what the problem was this time, you get a disturbing
    answer: it seems some tourists were scaring the seals just for "fun".
    This really upsets Oceana, who blasts off on the dangers of human-
    caused problems among the sealife. You just look sad.
    
    
      Summary:

     3. INJURED PENGUIN
    
    After you notice this in your book, head out to the Weddell Sea.
    It seems there is a VERY large, very injured peguin that was spotted
    and it seems to need help, according to the newest radio transmission
    from the conservation group. This penguin shows up on land at night
    to sleep, and since you cannot use your pulsar on land, you MUST
    find him during the day.
    
    Whenever you accept, Oceana automatically dives with you. Dive
    at the site in C-3, near the "special" iceberg. From there, swim on
    over to the small icebergs near A-4 to B-4. Over your radio, Jean- 
    Eric lets you know you are close, and to keep your eyes open. There's
    an awful LOT of penguins here!
    
    As soon as he's done talking, try to look around at all the penguins
    in the water; you're looking for a huge Emperor penguin among them.
    Equip the pulsar, and then try looking for the huge penguin, as it
    will have a red targeting reticle on its back. Heal him, then head
    for the boat. All done!
    (NOTE: this penguin is one of the legendary creatures you need to
    find. You CAN focus on him after you heal him and he is still in the
    water, & get his trivia, too, from poking him if he is still
    pulsared.)
    
    After going home, the conservation group once again sends their
    thanks: 2,000P and a Couture BCD!
    
    It seems Big Bobby ate too much trash left over from various
    industrial and exploration groups; there's still so much of it,
    there's no way it can ever be all cleaned up so the animals
    can't make more meals out of it all. Oceana then declares
    WE are the problem again; but you remind her not all people
    are like that. We ARE helping them, remember?
    
    
      Summary:

     4. FISH OUT OF WATER
    
    After noting this in your book, go to the Cortica River, Midstream.
    After the radio transmission, Jean-Eric lets you know there are some
    fish in the river that don't belong there. They are fighting the
    new environment they are in, and are sick. Well, time to wield that
    trusty pulsar and come to the aid of a sick fish once again!
    
    From diving at the first spot you encountered earlier, you find there
    are Atlantic tarpon in the river; five of them, to be exact.
    They are large, a little long, and silvery in color.
    Jean-Eric keeps a running count for you; their locations are:
    at the start of the area with piranhas (C-3S, the Perilous Waters);
    among the piranhas (D-3C); the area between the two islands (B-2N);
    among the giant otters (A-2C); and in the Mangrove Maze (B-1C).
    
    After you are done, you can head home. The group is once again very
    grateful for your help; they reward you with 2,000P and a Couture Tank!
    
    As for WHY the fish ended up in the river where they did not belong,
    it seems someone in a mansion downstream could no longer take care of
    them, and let them go in the river rather than take them back to
    their natural habitat. Oceana steams and emphatically declares humans
    to be the root cause of ALL animal suffering. After wondering if Oceana
    hates people, or is just tired of this, she mutters about this and that
    and stomps off.
    
    
      Summary:

    Go to the Zahhab Region after noticing this in your book. Jean-Eric
    gets a very disturbing radio transmission there: it seems several
    whales have been sighted heading straight for the beach! If they don't
    stop, they will beach themselves!
    
    Other divers have been called out to help, but if you want to help,
    they can always use another diver or two. Oceana practically jumps
    out of the boat with no gear just to get out and start helping.
    After agreeing to help out as well, dive, and get ready for the
    hardest mission yet.
    
    Oceana says the divers have been assigned to specific areas; she will
    go ahead and be your spotter. She will let you know when a whale is
    coming, and which direction it's coming from. DO NOT stray outside
    your designated area, she says, or you WILL fail to get to the whale
    in time!
    
    The thing to remember here is to STAY within sight of Oceana and
    make certain you are quick with the pulsar, and hope for some luck.
    Uh, oh! Here comes one! right NEAR you, in fact! Swim slightly out and
    pulsar it quickly. Oh no! Another coming from the EAST. Go heal it
    fast! And another one is coming from the NORTH! Phew...No time to
    relax, another from the SOUTH! Done...WAIT...TWO from the EAST!
    Ahhhh...finally done. All the whales are safe, for now.
    After getting auto-yanked back to the boat, you can go home now.
    
    After you get back to Nineball Island, the conservation group sends
    a BIG, hearty thank you - 10,000P and Couture (diving suit)!
    
    Uh oh of another sort - Oceana is STILL steaming, even though no one
    can be certain why the whales tried to beach themselves. She points
    the finger decisively at human caused havoc, again. Both Jean-Eric
    and you seem to be sick and tired of Oceana's complaining about the
    bad things people cause, and you both lay into her about all the people
    around the world doing good things. Especially the things you just
    did; the results of your actions are helpful to the creatures you
    saved. After she calms down, Oceana does agree that even if people can
    hurt, they can also heal the ocean world.

     6. YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR [YER]

    This quest has to do with completing the maps of all the areas you
    encounter in the game. Each smaller "square" within the main grid
    co-ordinate (with the large maps, there are 4 smaller squares that
    make up each large square) is worth 50P. Each completed map nets
    you a bonus of 10,000P.
    
    Depending on how carefully you go through the Cavern of the
    Gods in the main plot, you should be able to get the entire map
    completed before you re-open it.
    
    To completely finish this quest, you must go through the "Be the
    Best Trainer" quest until you get to the point where you can befriend
    the Amazon River dolphin; this dolphin helps you unblock a tree in
    the river so you can get to Queen's Lake in the Cortica River
    Midstream. Without that dolphin, you CANNOT move the tree, thus
    you cannot complete the Midstream map.
    
    It seems that each small area off of a large area is counted for
    this quest as its own map. Meaning if you complete both the Gatama
    Atoll AND Deep Hole map before going back to see Oceana, you get
    the 10,000P bonus for EACH of the two maps.
    
    You can see the first part of this quest as soon as the
    first time you go to Nineball Island; just check your book.

     1. NEW BUSINESS
    
    Looks like Oceana wants to have a talk with you. You've just landed
    on the island that will be your home for a long while, and she already
    wants to talk business? Well, OK. May as well humor her. She's just
    standing on the dock, waiting for you.
    
    She explains that as you explore more of the areas you will be going
    to, more of their map surface will be uncovered. If you take her along
    with you when you dive, she will add to her list of areas that can be
    a guided dive area.
    
    She says that if you can complete a whole map, she can market it to
    sell in the local area, since other divers would also be interested to
    have a complete map too. This would help make the company some
    Pelagos, and in the long run, help out others too. So how about it?
    Ready to go map crawling for Pelagos?

    "Bandanna".
    She then asks when you're going to have your next map done....

     5. AN INQUIRY
    
    After completing map 4, Oceana seems to be bothered by something.
    Go have a chat with her about it. She tells you that some of the divers
    thought they saw a "black shadow" when they were diving in Ciceros
    Strait. Though they tried to dismiss it as nothing, several divers had
    the same story; what could it be? The news that the 3rd map is
    selling well helps cheer her up some, however.

     6. DARK SHADOW
    
    After finishing a fifth map, you go over and talk to Oceana. You
    may expect to hear nothing more about this "shadow" in Ciceros
    Strait; you just want to get paid for the 5th map. However, Oceana
    has other plans. She happily mentions "a momentary dark shadow to
    the south of South Canyon" was seen by more divers.
    
    She implores beseechingly that if you go back out there, she wants
    to go too? -sigh- You've GOT to be kidding! Grumbling as she pays
    you, you figure you may as well take her over there and show her
    there's NOTHING out there; at least that'll shut her up.
    
    So go dive at Ciceros Strait; don't forget to take Oceana with you.
    Swim to South Canyon, then swim out all the way to end of F-8.
    As soon as you get there, you think you see something; then a large, 
    long head emerges, followed by an equally as long body. "See, I TOLD
    you there was something out here!"...but to her credit, she doesn't
    say it. A sea serpent....a real sea serpent!
    
    Oceana can't say much, except that she does NOT want to share the
    discovery with anyone; it wants to be left alone, and that's why it's
    all the way out there. Agree, since Oceana will likely have your head
    if you don't (and she IS the one paying you for the maps, after all!).
    
    After you return to the island, talk to a still quiet Oceana and
    receive as a special reward: Military Fins

    the world market.

    She pays you, & later happily screams "we're number #2 in the world!".
    Yeah, what about it, you want to respond, but she just looks so..happy.
    
    No need to spoil her mood. Although you know what would make her
    really happy - finishing that final map. Ugh. well, one more map to
    complete, then you can rest. At least until you take another look at
    that notebook...maybe not.

     7. VOICE OF THE NIGHT SKY [VNS]

    This quest has to do with finding all of the coins in the game.
    The first time you find one will be under a glow, likely right in the
    Gatama Atoll gate area. When you do find your first one, this quest
    will be triggered. When you find a coin that is also a piece of one of
    the other quest parts, that part will then be found in your book.
    
    These parts will not trigger in the order they will be listed here;
    the order here is how they are listed after they are all unlocked.
    
    After most of the quests parts are over, part of the transmission
    includes:
    "those who draw near...to the meaning of the heavens...their progress
    ...cannot be stopped..." this is simply encouragement to keep on
    collecting the coins.
    
    NOTE: the rest of the parts of this quest may NOT trigger until
    quite late in the game; although it's unclear what is the exact cause,
    the parts can trigger as late as you having over half of them in your
    book. If the parts don't trigger, don't panic! Keep collecting coins,
    and try to check your quest guide -BEFORE- your salvage book just
    in case that is what causes the triggering problem.
    
    If you trigger parts 2 and 3 (finding legendaries) at the same time,
    the cutscenes for them will trigger this way: Oceana's 1st, then GG's.

     1. STRANGE COINS
    
    You may have found a coin or two under a glow as you're searching for
    different fish in Gatama Atoll. Once you open the salvage/coin book
    (found on the right side of the table; it has some scattered coins on
    it), you get an odd transmission from the radio:
    "Collect the coins...if you do..."
    Is it picking up someone else's transmission, you wonder?
    Oceana wanders up and starts talking about "shiny things on the
    seafloor". You guess she means the coins; you talk about the
    weird transmission; she shrugs and says to find all the coins!
    
    NOTES:
    You must have more than 1 coin to hear the transmission.
    
    This will be the final part of the quest you complete, although
    it is listed first.
    
    This may be completed BEFORE you complete part 2; that
    depends on if you get all the coins in the CotG during the main plot
    (you CAN do it; I have done it before). Part 2 only clears after you
    find the legendary it points to (and part 3 as well).
    
    -----
    
    After you find all 100 coins, open the salvage/coin book once again,
    and get this odd radio transmission:
    "fallen stars...all collected...stars...in the heavens...divine...
    once again...from across the astral plane...I praise your great
    deeds...kkrrrzzzhhh..."
    The radio then goes silent. You get an idea for a new haircut-
    Flowing! You also "feel the reputation of the company is going
    to increase", and find yourself with 100,000P! (No, that is NOT
    a typo! You actually get 100,000P for collecting all the coins!)
    
    
      Summary:
    Find a coin under a glow; receive odd radio transmission after
    returning to island: "collect the coins...if you do..."
    
    After finding all 100, get another radio transmission:
    "fallen stars...all collected...stars...in the heavens...divine...

     2. SIGNS OF THE ZODIAC
    
    Once you find one of the listed coins, this part of the quest
    will trigger. It tells you which coins are part of this one:

    Sagittarius
    Capricorn
    Aquarius
    Pisces
    
    Once you find them all, you get the following radio transmission:
    "find...the 12 constellations...as recorded in the...Almagest...and
    you will be granted...an audience...at the edge of the end of the
    crimson waters..."
    
    Oceana wanders up again..."What now?" she wonders. Well, if you
    decide to go to wherever the transmission meant, can she go too?
    And what does "Almagest" mean? Hayako chimes in that she looked
    it up; it's an ancient book that details the 12 signs of the Zodiac.
    It simply means that the coins for this part are the 12 signs of the
    Zodiac, and you found them all, so you get a special reward.
    
    So how to figure out where the transmission meant you to go?
    Well, you figure, "crimson" is another form of the color red; the
    only place you know of that could have anything to do with is
    the "Red Sea". The Zahhab Region is there, so try that area?
    But what about where the "edge of the end" might be?
    Well, that seems simple enough. The very end of the map, of
    course!
    
    So after arriving at the Zahhab Region, you remember you told
    Oceana she could come with you; so take her diving with you.
    Swim out to the very last map co-ordinate: H-8. Go as far as you
    can; all of a sudden...what was THAT? A giant, striped....folded
    umbrella?! Wait, no, that can't be right, umbrellas don't have tiny
    waving appendages, and they sure DON'T swim!
    You and Oceana look at each other, dumbfounded. You shrug, and
    motion that it's time to go home. Oceana doesn't disagree this time;
    it seems whatever SHE thinks she saw shut her up too. She tells you
    she must be tired, and seeing things, and that she'll go to bed early
    tonight!
    
    Return to the island, and notice a new page in your Marine Life
    book: a new creature called "Cameroceras". It depicts the "folded
    umbrella" like thing you just saw! So it wasn't a mirage after all!
    
    NOTE: this part will not be stamped as "clear" until after you
    find the legendary. Simply finding the coins does not complete it.
    
    
      Summary:
    Find the coins that depict the signs of the zodiac:
    Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio,
    Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.

    GG shows up to interrupt your thoughts. "Hey, old castle, huh.
    What old castle do do you think it's talking about? If you look, take
    me too, will you? I wanna see what this is all about! Old guardians
    usually guard treasure! I wanna piece of that!"
    
    Well, that didn't take long to figure out! Off to Valka Castle you go!
    When you go to Ciceros Strait, and dive with GG. The transmission
    said something about a "window", and the best windows are in the
    Underwater Gallery, so you figure to head over there.
    
    After swimming down most of the length of the Gallery, all of a
    sudden you and GG catch a fast glimpse of...something indescribable
    swimming like a bullet past the window. That sure wasn't Thanatos!
    What WAS that?! It was pinkish and wierd and out of this world!
    After GG declares he DIDN'T just see what he thought he saw, you
    notice something on the ground under the window; "Dragon Bones"
    (BCD). Perhaps a gift from the heavens? Who knows?
    
    You take your sighting, and your new BCD and head for home.
    After you get back, you notice your Marine Life book flashing at
    you again. You open it, and near the back you find a new entry:
    "Anomalocaris". You read it with wonder. So THIS is what you saw?
    
    NOTE: this part will not be stamped as "clear" until after you
    find the legendary. Simply finding the coins does not complete it.

    Perseus defeated Medusa, then journeyed home on Pegasus. He stopped
    by the kingdom of Cepheus and Cassiopeia; he learned princess Andromeda
    was to be sacrificed to a sea monster. He killed the sea monster using
    Medusa's head, and he and Andromeda lived happily ever after.
    
    Once you find all the coins associated with this part of the quest,
    you hear this radio transmission:
    "The brave hero...who defeated the...gorgon...at his long...journey's
    end...became King of Argos..."
    
    You then feel the reputation of the company going up, and find you

    Callisto bore Zeus a child; his wife Hera became jealous and turned

    one day he taking his herd and his dogs through the woods when he
    encountered a bear. He was startled and shot the bear with his bow,
    never realizing it was his mother. Zeus then turned him into a bear
    cub, and mother and son live forever as constellations.

    home with the legendary golden fleece.

    The mythology behind it, as told in your book:
    Prometheus, one of the Titans, was chained to a rock and constantly
    attacked by an eagle as punishment for giving humans fire. One day
    as Hercules was doing his 12 labors, he visited Prometheus. Hercules
    drove away the eagle using his arrows, giving him some respite from
    his torment. In return, Hercules was given advice that led to the
    golden apples.
    
    Once you find all the coins associated with this part of the quest,
    you hear this radio transmission:

    and was killed by the gods with a lightning bolt.

    This quest only has one coin associated with it: the Solar coin
    (this is also part of the Solar System, part #3). Once you find it,
    you will get a radio transmission:
    "The one who rules the sun...find the coin cavern...with the same
    name...inside the cliff...inherit...riches of the north..."
    
    The only cavern you know of with name like that is...
    the Cavern of the Sun; that was where you found the zebra shark!
    There are no other areas you can find that match the description
    given, so it's off the Zahhab Region again.
    The entrance is at F-4NW, about 115 ft [35m] down. So enter the
    cavern, and notice a sparkly area in one of the turtle remains.
    Grab it to find it's a Turtle Shell (diving tank)!

     8. SAVE THE AQUARIUM [STA]
     --------------------------------------
    
    This quest has to do with the aquarium; after getting Hayako to join
    your party, and the other guy you barely talked to seemed to have
    vanished without a trace, YOU become the curator for the
    big new aquarium about to open (Hayako becomes the deputy curator).
    Opening it, and ushering it into becoming a popular place for
    everyone to go is what this quest will do.

    Main Tank: where the large and medium sized fish go; the smaller
    creatures not found under glows also can go in here
    
    Small World Gallery: divided into 4 smaller tanks for glow creatures

     1. PREPARING FOR THE OPENING
    
    Hayako wants to have a talk with you. Talk to her as she sits in
    her usual chair by the table; she says the aquarium is ready to
    open, however, there should be a minimum amount of creatures you
    are familiar with (in your Marine Life book) so the aquarium can
    have a nice amount of exhibits. She thinks over 71 species would
    be a nice round number; if you have that many in your book when
    this triggers, you will be done with this part.
    
    If not, go out and search the places you've been to already, and
    focus on every fish you see; take Oceana with you and click on all
    the glows you see.

     2. THE EVE OF THE OPENING
    
    Go meet Hayako at the aquarium to have another talk.
    She tells you they are almost ready to open, and she would like to
    know if you have any questions. Of course you do! Just go through
    the list of questions there, and learn how the aquarium works and
    what your responsibilities are. You also learn you get a small
    percentage of the ticket sales (what better incentive to draw as
    many people as you possibly can?).
    (I have noticed the percentage seems to be around 10%.)

     3. HAYAKO'S FEARS
    
    Hayako wants to have another talk at the aquarium. It seems
    that something is bothering her.
    
    Bad news: the investors are nervous. They have a lot riding on this,
    and Hayako want to make sure there are enough creatures to fill an
    aquarium this size; she thinks this will help to calm their fears.
    She says over 140 creatures in your book will be a great big help.
    
    If you have enough creatures in your book, she would also like one
    other thing: a report on the feeding habits of blue whales. The only
    blue whales you know of you found in the North Coast of Canada.
    Well, it's off to the cold North for blue whale watching!
    
    When you get to the North Coast of Canada, you're figuring on swimming
    through the vast blue cold waters, looking for a whale. Except, as
    you swim close to the breathing hole at B-2, in a startling fashion,
    you wonderously watch a mini-show that captures the essence of a
    feeding blue whale. After the show, you have your report, and
    decide to head for warmer areas.

     4. MATERNITY AND THE OCEAN
    
    After you return to the aquarium to file your report on the feeding
    habits of blue whales, Hayako seems pleased you got the report for
    her. She gratefully gives you some Body Armor (BCD) for your good
    work!
    
    Now on to other business, Hayako declares: the investors are almost
    convinced to fully back the aquarium through thick and thin; BUT she
    would like some more actual research work to show them. She would
    now like observations on the green sea turtle. She assures you that
    YOU won't have to actually deal with the research this time; you only
    need to guide another researcher to the spots where the sea turtles
    go ashore to lay their eggs; this occurs in the Zahhab Region.
    
    (NOTE: if you have not been to the Zahhab Region yet, she asks
    you if you have any business that could take you to the Red Sea;
    Mathilde's request will not show up until after you've been to the
    Zahhab Region, then talked to Hayako at the aquarium again.)
    
    All you have to do is guide the researcher safely there and let her
    do her work; basically since this is a guide request, she goes on to
    say, ask Oceana when you get back to the island if she has a request
    from "Mathilde". This is the researcher.
    
    So off you head to home, and ask Oceana if there's a dive request
    from anyone named "Mathilde". Yes, there is, as a matter of fact.
    This request is untimed, and you can take it whenever you are ready.
    When you are ready, accept it, and have a talk with Mathilde.
    
    So Mathilde thanks you for the opportunity to further her knowledge
    about the green sea turtle. They are quite endangered, and the only
    way to help begin to save them is to understand their egg laying
    habits. Since they lay eggs in the evening or at night, this is when
    you will dive.
    
    So you find yourself diving with Mathilde at Coral Valley (B-7);
    since you need to go ashore, this means you have to follow the
    coastline almost all the way north to get there. Suddenly you hear
    the radio crackle: there are a whole bunch of great white sharks in
    the area! Oh, GREAT! At least you have a landmark to aim for though:
    you need to go ashore near the bunch of blue sea stars on the ocean 
    floor. Well, ready the pulsar and let's go!
    
    You never remember seeing THIS many great whites, even in Ciceros
    Strait, at night. After awhile, your arm goes numb from all the
    pulsaring; the coastline seems to go on FOREVER. Where are all those
    blue sea stars, anyway? Oh, wait: there's another shark....pulsar fired!
    Shark calm...oh, 100 down, how many to gooooo....wait; what's that
    up ahead....blue...sea stars! Ah, man! Another shark, maybe the last
    one you can see, pulsar, he's calm, and there are the sea stars!!!
    
    Climb wearily ashore; but as you want to plop down on the sand and
    rest, you notice the whole area is covered with...green sea turtles!
    Better stay standing then, don't want to crush eggs or disturb turtles.
    Mathilde happily begins her research, as the turtles serenely lay
    their eggs. You listen to her in wonder, your weariness gone.
    
    After she is done, you can return home; Mathilde is very grateful
    to you. She says she learned a lot, but would like to return when
    the eggs hatch to learn even more. She hands you your diving request
    money, 2,000P, and then hands you another 10,000P as a bonus!
    Nice! You will definitely agree to escorting her again, even through
    more great white sharks!

     5. THE MYSTERIES OF LIFE
    
    So, back to the aquarium you go! You want to hear how Hayako liked
    the report. She was thrilled, actually; but she says Mathilde isn't
    done quite yet. Now she needs to observe the eggs hatching and
    the fight for life of the baby turtles. When you are ready, Oceana
    will have another diving request from Mathilde.
    
    Go home and talk to Oceana; sure enough, there's another request
    from Mathilde in Oceana's queue. Accept when ready; talk to her.
    Mathilde states this time she will film the eggs hatching, and the
    path to the sea of the baby turtles. She flew over the area and
    dropped off her camera equipment on the sea floor near the going
    ashore point; it was too big and bulky to swim all the way up the
    coastline with. You get a certain sinking feeling about this, and
    pointedly ask if that was the wisest thing to do. She assures you
    it was OK, the items are in waterproof bags, and everything will
    be fine.
    
    Still not sure about her decision to drop her stuff off like that,
    you head back to the Zahhab Region. This time you get to dive
    during the daytime; and the radio transmission from the boat assures
    you there aren't as many great white sharks as there were last time!
    Mathilde tells you she dropped her stuff off at the end of the Long
    Fissure (D-2), so let's head there first; you can go ashore at the
    same place you did last time afterwards.
    
    Pulsar the sharks again, though this time there aren't as many.
    When you get to the Long Fissure end, sure enough, there's the
    sparkly area that means Mathilde's camera stuff is there...looks
    like your feeling was for noth....wait...she says, some of her stuff
    is gone! After looking through her bags, she declares her wide-angle
    lens and her camera battery are missing. Could the sea turtles
    have mistaken the bags for jellyfish, which they like to eat, and
    grabbed them? Do you have anything that could help her find them
    in case the turtles dropped them far away?
    
    Wait, you say, you have a multisensor that can pick up metallic
    and other objects buried or hidden on the sea floor. That may be
    able to help find the missing items! After that, you are told the
    wide-angle lens shows up as metal; the camera battery is both
    metal and high density. Turn on your multisensor, and on a hunch,
    sweep an area near a high mound of coral rock; there's an item!
    So they weren't dropped far from the Fissure; that's good news!
    
    You see a red flash, but uh oh, the sharks aren't calm anymore!
    Pulsar sharks when needed, look for the missing items and retrieve
    them, and figure on giving Mathilde a good chewing out when you get
    back to Nineball Island. At the moment, however, you have other
    business to attend to. Now that Mathilde has all of her items, she
    should be ready to go get some good film footage of the cutest baby
    turtles ever seen!
    
    Climb ashore at the same place you went before, ready for anything.
    Mathilde is busily filming baby sea turtles hatching out of their
    shells, documenting their harsh fight for survival. She puts the
    camera down and says she is done; we can head back now.
    
    After returning home, Mathilde states she is sorry for causing
    problems for the sea turtles; she is glad none of them managed to
    actually swallow the bags, and the items in them. She just didn't
    realize...at any rate, she is pleased the research went this well;
    you should have a nice reward as a thanks for your help!
    Mathilde hands over your 2,000P for the dive; then you hands you
    an odd looking item: a Flat Tank! She also gives you another
    10,000P bonus! Nice!

     6. DEMANDING INVESTORS
    
    Go back to the aquarium; it looks like Hayako is bothered by something
    yet again. She says that even with all the reports and exhibits, the
    investors are still not quite convinced the aquarium can do well.
    After thinking about it a little bit, you ask, why not try to get
    a million visitors to come here? Surely if THAT is possible, the
    investors would HAVE to sit up and take notice!
    
    Hayako expresses her doubts, but tells you that she will help you if
    you try to get that many people to come. She then thanks you for
    your help to Mathilde, then gives you a new haircut: Gelled!
    
    This part starts the longest part of the quest: attracting more
    visitors. A few tips to help would go a long way, so here are some:
    
    Try to visit the aquarium at least once an in-game week or two.
    The visitors seem to tire of the animals displayed after that.
    
    Go to the Staff Room and ask Hayako all the questions when you
    first get there; she will keep track of the number of visitors, the
    things they want to see, and pay you.
    PAY ATTENTION to the 2nd question's answer: this tells you
    if the visitors want to see something new. Some of their requests
    can include (but are not limited to):
    large marine mammals/things impressive for their size
    fearsome sharks/dangerous creatures
    species from the Zahhab Region Depths
    creatures from the Cavern of the Gods
    Valka Castle creatures
    
    Change out all of the areas in the aquarium, not just the main tank
    
    You do not really need to feed the creatures; if you have any
    extra time to do so, however, feel free; it doesn't seem to
    help or hurt the number of visitors

    you DID IT! She says the investors now understand the role the
    aquarium plays, and there is no more danger of them pulling their
    support. She is so happy, she gives you a special haircut to
    celebrate - Punk!
    She indicates that your job is not yet done here, however.
    If you'd like, you should keep regularly visiting and changing
    out the displays for the new visitors.

    Hayako wants a picture of a legendary creature she has been studying.

    Sea. It only comes out at a certain time; she would like you to get a
    picture of it for her.

    Story:
    People have reported seeing a "ghost" at night in Valka Castle.
    Is something really there or not? (legendary)
    
    Fulfillment:
    Dive with Oceana at night in Ciceros Strait; enter Valka Castle.
    Through a series of cutscenes, you are eventually guided to the
    Mermaid's Ballroom, where you encounter a jet-black manta ray
    called the "Phantom".

    12. STRANGE ANIMAL IN ANTARCTICA
    
    Trigger:
    Should start after the end of the main plot. (The cutscene that
    begins this usually happens right after you first return to Nineball
    Island after you've completed the main plot.)
    You also need to have completed the Iceberg Cavern map.
    You MUST talk to Oceana after completing the map for it to count!
    After you talk to Oceana and get your map money, this scene should
    trigger right after that.
    
    Story:
    A large creature has been sighted in the Weddell Sea, and it has
    reportedly even tried to harass a couple of people! (legendary)
    
    Fulfillment:
    Dive in the Weddell Sea with Oceana. Go ashore at B-4. There's
    nothing there. Return to water; swim to Iceberg Cavern and go
    inside. Swim to the Hall of Radiance. Encounter Leo, the legendary
    leopard seal [named Arthur in the EU version].

    13. MURAL RESEARCH
    
    Trigger:
    Right after finding Snowball (special request #10).
    
    Story:
    Hayako wants to study the murals at Red & Blue Dome in Ciceros Strait.
    
    Fufillment:
    Hayako asks you if the next time you dive at Ciceros Strait, you'd
    take her along; she wants to study the murals in the Red & Blue
    Domes. No one has done any research on them yet, and she thinks
    the scientific community would greatly benefit from the research.
    
    So dive at Ciceros Strait with Hayako; she wants to look at the Blue
    Dome first. So swim there with her (A-5), and surface. Now she
    would like a picture of it; so take one or more. 
    
    Next, off to Red Dome (B-6). Surface and look; no picture required
    this time. Return home.
    
    Develop the picture(s) you took, choose one to give to Jean-Eric for
    Hayako. Give picture; talk to Hayako.
    
    Reward:
    Hayako gives you 7,000P and an Emperor BCD!

    14. MURAL FRAGMENT
    
    Triggers:
    Right after special request #13 is completed.
    You also have had to pulsar over 100 creatures for this
    to trigger; exactly why is unknown (but what Hayako says about
    you having expert pulsar skills may point to this). You may need
    to talk to Hayako and get the title for pulsaring 100 creatures,
    then if the other condition is fulfilled, this should trigger.
    
    Story:
    Hayako has another job for you. Now she wants a mural fragment.
    
    Fulfillment:
    Hayako thinks that along with the picture of Blue Dome's mural you
    gave her earlier, a mural fragment would help the research paper
    she is writing to be even better.
    
    So dive at Ciceros Strait with Hayako once again. She says she thinks
    that the Red Dome may have a fragment she could get to. So swim to
    B-6; go inside Red Dome. There's 3 great white sharks in here! Not
    only that, they seem to be "guarding" a piece of mural fragment!
    Well, get busy with that pulsar! After all sharks are pulsared, they
    swim off. Now retrieve the mural fragment (sparkly area) and head
    for home. Talk to Hayako after you return.
    
    Reward:
    Hayako gives you 10,000P & Casual (swim shorts-men; bikini-women)

    15. MEMENTO
    
    Trigger:
    Right after Chapter 2 of the main plot (Valka Castle), Nancy
    will have a Classic Guitar for sale. Buy it, and when it's sitting
    there by the chair in front of the cabin front door, click on it.
    (Note: you MUST have done at least the first guided dive request,
    from Owa, in Gatama Atoll for this request to become available.
    It will NOT start until you have done Owa's dive request!)
    
    Story:
    The story behind the Classic Guitar.
    
    Fulfillment:
    Click on the guitar; Oceana will come up and tell you before you can
    have time to play, you have a dive request you should take. She
    walks back to the dock, so go over there and accept the untimed
    request from "Marzia", going to Ciceros Strait. She arrives, and
    after squatting by the guitar, she tells you she's been searching for
    this guitar for a long time; it was her late father's. He died on the
    Pride of Athens, and she would like to dive there and see if anything
    is left of his she could retrieve.
    (NOTE: the cutscene only mentions he was ON board the Pride of
    Athens, not that he died on it. Although you could IMPLY he died
    by the fact the guitar washed up in Ciceros Strait 20 years ago,
    this is not expressedly stated.)
    
    So dive at Ciceros Strait; you will auto-dive with Marzia at the
    North Canyon dive site. Go a little west to D-1, and swim over the
    Pride of Athens wreck, to the door on the wheelhouse, to trigger
    the cutscene. She wants to get the wheelhouse door open, and it
    might take awhile. Normally, that would not be problem, however,
    here comes a BIG problem - Thanatos, the man-eating shark!!
    
    For this part, DO NOT MOVE AROUND! If you stay right where you are,
    you are right out of Thanatos' reach. Just pulsar him like crazy;
    keep pulsaring him until she says he needs a little more time; then
    just keep pulsaring until Thanatos finally swims somewhat away.
    Marzia says she found a waterproof suitcase in the wheelhouse; she
    is sure it belonged to her father. (You will now auto-return to the
    boat, then go back to Nineball Island.)
    
    Well, she has what she came for; time to go home. On the dock at
    Nineball Island, she opens the suitcase; there's not much inside,
    normal stuff, and a musical score. You sit down on the dock edge
    and begin to play the music on the paper. (You might recognize this
    as the normal music that plays before midnight on Nineball Island.)
    
    After you are done, you, Marzia, and Oceana gather around the
    guitar. "Here, take your father's guitar. He'd want his daughter
    to have it after all this time." Marzia thoughtfully answers, "I
    think he'd like someone who loves the sea as much as he did to
    have it. Keep it. Whenever you play it, think of him."
    
    NOTE: if you fail this, meaning that Marzia does not get the
    suitcase, you can restart it. If you leave Ciceros Strait without
    the suitcase, it counts as a failure. You get a cutscene with a
    very sad Marzia commenting on the failure to find anything.
    She still does pay you 2,000P for the dive, though.
    When back on Nineball Island, you can click on the guitar again,
    you then get a cutscene with Oceana telling you that although
    you failed, Marzia sent another dive request so you can try
    again if you want. When you are ready, take the new request
    to start the request again. You can do this until you successfully
    complete it.
    
    Reward:
    Marzia gives you your diving request money: 2,000P. She also gives
    you a 10,000P bonus, and a set of EM Fins! She then takes her leave,
    and you can now play the Island night music whenever you want.

    16. HEALING SEA
    
    Trigger:
    Usually an in-game day or so after the end of the main plot.
    
    Story:
    Tells about a special skin-healing ingredient.
    
    Fulfillment:
    Go to the Zahhab Region and dive at the Long Fissure dive site.
    Swim slightly northeast, to Mushroom Rock. Get a cutscene where
    Jean-Eric tells you about the huge Whale shark that swims in that
    area.
    
    Return home; now there's another automatic cutscene where Jean-Eric
    is reading the newspaper, and comes across an article about a newly-
    discovered skin-healing ingredient. Everyone gathers around him to
    discuss the new find. Hayako asks if anyone has figured out what the
    mystery item is yet, and after everyone says no, she says that SHE
    knows what it is! It's a special type of seaweed. If she could get
    some and experiment with it, it might greatly help her practice of
    veterinary medicine if it works.
    
    She turns to you and says she may know where to find some; would
    you like to dive there and find out if she's right? She says that
    the Zahhab Region would be the best place to go.
    
    So off you go back to Zahhab! Dive at the Long Fissure site again
    and swim to Mushroom Rock. There's a bright red flash on some pink
    seaweed; Jean-Eric confirms that is the seaweed causing all the fuss;
    take some and go home.
    
    In another cutscene, Hayako tells you that the seaweed is working
    MUCH better than expected; she will publish her findings soon. She
    wishes to keep the exact formula a secret for now, though. She
    hands you an item she promised to give you as a reward.
    
    Reward:
    Receive Infiltration BCD from Hayako as a reward!

    17. WHEN THE STILLNESS IS BROKEN
    
    Trigger:
    After the end of Chapter 1 of the main plot, this will automatically
    be in your book. Gatama map completion is NOT necessary.
    
    Story:
    Tells about a cave blocked by a rock in southwest Gatama Atoll.
    
    Fulfillment:
    Take a dolphin (if early in the story, you can use the Short-beaked
    common dolphin) as your partner, and swim to the cave (A-7N; about
    60 ft [18m] down). Click on the rocks blocking the entrance, and
    you will get a cutscene where Jean-Eric will ask if you can move it
    with the help of your partner; you and the dolphin move the rock,
    and you now can go into the cave (Silent Cavern).
    
    Reward:
    There is a coin in here under the glow, and a Treasure Rumor will
    point to this cave later on (#1, The Legend of Pelago). It will
    have the Moon Treasure in it then; but nothing else afterwards.

    18. MYSTERIOUS OBJECT
    
    Trigger:
    Right after buying the telescope from Nancy.
    
    Story:
    Tells of an unknown object seen in the early hours in Gatama.
    (legendary)
    
    Fulfillment:
    After a night with a full moon, look out to sea just after sunrise,
    using your telescope. You will then get a cutscene where you will
    talk to Jean-Eric. You tell him you thought you "saw" something out
    in Gatama. He asks if you want to go check it out, and you say yes.
    
    Take the boat out to Gatama Atoll; dive at E-7 (the entrance to Deep
    Hole), but do not enter Deep Hole. Instead, turn to your left (so
    you're facing east), and swim to the area where you can go ashore
    (G-8); swim until you get a cutscene where you notice "drag marks"
    on the seafloor, like something heavy was dragged up on land.
    
    Go ashore, and immediately notice a HUGE crocodile just laying
    there. You've found the Pelago Crocodile! [EU name: Paoul crocodile]
    
    Note: this and special request #19 (Floating Island) CAN
    be triggered at the same time if the conditions are right. You
    also can meet both legendaries on the same dive if you have
    a large enough tank.

    19. FLOATING ISLAND
    
    Trigger:
    Sometime after finding Snorkel [EU: Goldie], the dog.
    
    Story:
    Tells of a large, floating "island" seen out in Gatama. (legendary)
    
    Fulfillment:
    When you notice Snorkel, the dog, laying out by the campfire area
    (you do NOT need the campfire there, however), choose to pet him.
    He reacts to your petting oddly; he begins to bark, looking out the
    sea. He sees something out there! What IS that? It looks like
    some sort of "island". Well, no time like the present to go see
    what it is!
    
    Go out to Gatama; dive at the Spring Garden dive site (B-5). Swim
    to the west of Cake Rock (the really tiny island at D-4); surface and
    look around. Jean-Eric comments on there being nothing there.
    Put your head back underwater and swim out to Gatama's Navel (D-5);
    notice a HUGE dark-colored turtle swimming around there. You've
    found the Cacao Maharaja! [EU name: Cocoa Maharaja]
    
    Note: this and special request #18 (Mysterious Object) CAN
    be triggered at the same time if the conditions are right. You
    also can meet both legendaries on the same dive if you have
    a large enough tank.
    
    Note 2: you CAN complete this special request at night,
    but this legendary will only be there the night you found it;
    although it will show up later, only during the day.
    
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    20. FINDING NANCY'S SCISSORS
    
    Trigger:
    After Chapter 2 of the main plot this should auto-trigger.
    
    Story:
    Tells about Nancy losing her scissors.
    
    Fufillment:
    Call Nancy, then when done with other business (if you have any
    with her; she will only mention this AFTER she reads the Okeanos
    Tablet), she will mention she lost her scissors down in Deep Hole,
    and wants to know if you would like to go find them for her.
    She will be able to re-establish her side business if you do!
    
    Dive at Gatama Atoll, and go into Deep Hole; you'll notice a red
    flash in the Deep Dome area of the Hole (B-3C; 60 ft [18m]).
    Click on the flash to discover you've found Nancy's scissors!
    
    Return to Nineball Island, and call Nancy with the good news.
    She's so happy; she will be able to re-open her side-business:
    being a hairstylist. She will even cut YOUR hair for only 1,000P
    per haircut, if you want.
    
    Reward:
    Nancy can give you new hairstyles for 1,000P per cut!
    
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    21. SEALED AWAY
    
    Trigger:
    After the end of Chapter 1, this should automatically be
    triggered. Deep Hole map completion is NOT necessary.
    
    Story:
    Tells of a chamber in Deep Dome sealed off, and that you
    can't move the rock away from the hole without help.
    
    Fulfillment:
    Dive at Deep Hole and choose a dolphin as your partner. Swim
    to the blocked entrance with your dolphin, and click on the rock
    blocking the cave mouth. Jean-Eric will comment perhaps your
    dolphin partner can help you unblock the cave mouth, and it does.
    Suddenly, a Pygmy sperm whale emerges from the now open cave!
    
    Reward:
    Explore the small cave (Hidden Cavern), and find a coin under a glow!

    22. MOTHER OF CORTICA
    
    Trigger:
    Completion of the entire Cortica, Midstream map (need to get
    to part 7 of the "Be the Best Trainer" quest and befriend the
    Amazon river dolphin to complete map).
    
    Story:
    Tells of an unknown, very large, creature in the Cortica River,
    Midstream, area, only seen when raining. (legendary)
    
    Fulfillment:
    After you return to Nineball Island after completing the Cortica
    Midstream map, rest in the cabin until morning. A cutscene then
    begins where Jean-Eric is reading the morning fishwrap. He reads a
    story about a huge, unknown creature that startled several visitors
    to Cortica; it even helped one person to the shore after they fell
    out of a boat and nearly drowned! All the people saw this creature
    when it was raining.
    
    Jean-Eric asks you if you believe the story; do you want to go find
    out if this story has any truth to it? He looks at you; "well, how
    about it, wanna go see if there's anything there?"
    Sure, why not go see? There's nothing else to do right now.
    
    So head off to the Cortica River. It will be raining when you get
    there. Swim out and towards the islands in the river; Jean-Eric
    tells you there's nothing there so far. Maybe it's just a story
    after all. No, you insist, something IS watching you; you can
    FEEL it. Swim and enter Queen's Lake; get another cutscene.
    Stll noth-wait a minute! You turn around, and find yourself
    staring at a pair of the largest, kindest eyes you've ever seen!
    
    You've found Mama Cortica, Jean-Eric tells you. She seems to like
    humans, oddly enough for a creature. There are countless tales
    of her coming to people's rescue.
    
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    23. THE CLOSED PATH
    
    Trigger:
    After the end of Chapter 4 of the main plot.
    
    Story:
    Tells of a blocked path in the Cortica River, midstream.
    
    Fulfillment:
    After you find this blockage, you know what to do! Use a dolphin,
    of course! But every dolphin partner you bring with you cannot move
    the tree in the river because it's just not suited for freshwater,
    and can't get enough strength to move anything.
    
    You've been slowly going through the "Be the Best Trainer" quest,
    realizing most of the dolphins/whales species you come across you
    can eventually partner with. You swim upstream to the Twilight
    Temple, and find the Amazon river dolphins there; but neither of
    them even acknowledge you're there. Then you realize you may
    have to finish more of the quest!
    
    So off to home you race, and quickly run though the rest of the
    quest. After part 7, you see you only have 5 more dolphins/whale
    species to befriend. One of them is the Amazon river dolphin!
    
    Go back out To Cortica, and swim upstream. Follow the instructions
    and befriend the Amazon river dolphin.
    
    Now that the Amazon river dolphin is your partner, dive with it;
    click on the tree in the river, and let the dolphin help you unblock
    a very special part of the river!
    
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    24. GOLD EATER
    
    Trigger:
    Finding the Servant's Ring, and having GG join your party,
    & after seeing the Piraiba catfish in the Cortica River, Upstream.
    
    Story:
    Tells of a fabled creature made of gold. (legendary)
    
    Fulfillment:
    As you're browsing through the treasures left in the Treasure Vault
    room in Valka Castle, you notice a sparkly shine on a shelf in the
    back of the room. You investigate to discover a Servant's Ring.
    
    Why not take something nice for yourself, you wonder; everyone else
    is getting some really nice treasure out of this place! You look
    closely at it; it's made of gold, maybe valuable, but you just think
    it looks nice. You slip it on your finger, and promptly forget it's
    there.
    
    Later, after Chapter 4 of the main plot, when you return to Nineball
    Island, GG notices your ring. (Cutscene start). "Hey, can I see your
    ring? It's gold and flashy, and like something I'd wear!" Let GG
    appraise it; he says it's not that valuable. It's made from not
    very pure gold, possibly panned from the Cortica River. Really?
    How interesting...He gives it back, and says to enjoy it.
    
    On your next dive to the Cortica River, as you swim upstream, you
    notice that big Piraiba catfish seems VERY interested in you. Well,
    not YOU, really; it really likes your Servant's Ring.
    
    Choose to give it the ring, and the catfish promptly EATS it! Hey!
    Well, no use crying about it now. It wasn't worth much, anyway.
    
    Leave, and get to thinking about the catfish. Is it OK? It didn't
    choke to death on the ring, did it?
    Return to Cortica Upstream; as you swim into the bowl shaped area
    in front of the Temple, you notice an odd sight: a large, GOLD
    catfish! No, you think, surely it couldn't be...but it looks exactly
    like..click on it to find it WAS the Piraiba catfish. It is now
    the legendary Golden Catfish!
    
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    25. KING GIGIDE
    
    Trigger:
    Finding the Caiman Relic in the Zahhab Region.
    
    Story:
    Tells the legend of a caiman guarding the ancient Cortica temples.
    (legendary)
    
    Fulfillment:
    On a dive to the Zahhab Region, in front of the Stone Castle (E-3),
    you notice a sparkly area. Reaching down to pick up the item there,
    you see it's a "Caiman Relic". "Caiman"? What's THAT doing here?
    Caimans are found in the Cortica River, but not here.
    
    Return home; Hayako seems really interested in your find and
    asks to see it. She promises to give it back, and will tell you
    its history as well. Choose to show it to her.
    
    She tells you it is, indeed, from the Cortica River area. You likely
    found it in Zahhab because a merchant or trader had it, and their
    ship sank around that area. She tells you the rest of its story.
    
    She says it points to there being a special creature in the Cortica
    River; the next time you go there, check it out; she then hands it
    back to you.
    
    So off to the Cortica River you go! Swim to the upstream area, and
    enter the Twilight Temple. Nothing yet...but as you get close to the
    Sacred Chamber, you notice something swimming out of it...a pure
    white caiman! Jean-Eric then jokes the legend says you should only
    touch him if you have a pure heart; King Gigide can tell if you have
    evil in your heart, and if you do, he will eat you! (Jean-Eric IS
    joking, right?)
    
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    26. THE GRAVE KEEPER
    
    Trigger:
    After the end of Chapter 5 of the main plot.
    
    Story:
    Tells of Oceana's favorite creature in the Depths, and you should
    go diving with her there to see it. (legendary)
    
    Fufillment:
    You decide to go to the Zahhab Region Depths to see what's there,
    and notice Oceana wants to go with you.
    
    So go to the Zahhab Region, and dive with Oceana at the Twin
    Crevasses dive spot. Swim into the Southern Crevasse; go almost the
    way down to the bottom. Swim around the corner into the area
    with the Bluntnose sixgill shark; pacify it with the pulsar.
    
    Now enter the right-side Twin cave; focus on one of the giant isopods
    there. Oceana will think she heard something from the other cave;
    leave and swim into the other cave (left-side) to investigate. Is
    anything there, hiding in the back of the cave? Why not use some
    food to lure it out?
    
    Use some of your food, and leave it there; suddenly, you notice
    something emerging from the back of the cave. It's the biggest
    giant isopod you've even SEEN! This is the Grave Keeper. Oceana
    then starts squealing this is her favorite creature EVER!!!!
    (This...thing that looks like something out of a horror movie is
    her all-time favorite creature? SERIOUSLY?!)
    
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    27. THE MYSTERIOUS VOICE
    
    Trigger:
    Buy the Totem Pole from Nancy.
    
    Story:
    It tells about the mysterious Totem Pole you just bought.
    
    Fulfillment:
    After you see Nancy has a Totem Pole for sale, you just can't help
    but buy it and set it up on the Island. As creepy as you think it is,
    for some reason it fascinates you, too. As you begin to investigate
    it, you think you hear a strange, whispery voice.
    
    "I want...ice...northern land...two long tusks..."
    
    What was THAT?! You swore you heard a voice...no...that Totem Pole
    did NOT just talk to you. You were hearing things....yeah, sure,
    that's it. Just hearing things.
    
    On your next trip out to the North Coast of Canada, you recall that
    odd voice you DIDN'T hear saying something about tusks from a
    "northern" land. NO, you did NOT hear that!
    
    Go for a dive, and you decide to visit the walruses and see how they
    are (A-1). After you go ashore, you notice a sparkly area; you go
    over and find a walrus tusk laying there. Shrugging, you pick it up
    and then re-enter the water. Swimming by the narwhals (D-1&2) later,
    you notice another sparkly area near the edge of the breathing hole
    they use. You click on it to discover a narwhal tusk lodged in the
    ice. You take that too, then finish your business and head for home.
    
    Later, you get to thinking about the Totem Pole again. Just for 
    fun, why not see if it would accept the tusks you found?
    
    Click on the Totem Pole, and offer the tusks to it. You DIDN'T just
    hear a voice say:
    
    "I am...satisfied...on the sandy beach...soon...my thanks..."
    
    Still feeling a little creeped out, you want to forget that as
    quickly as possible. However, a few days later, you notice another
    sparkly area, this time on the beach past the deck chairs.
    You stroll on over and find an item there.
    
    Reward:
    Mirage (swim shorts-men; bikini-women)

    28. ANCIENT MOTHER [EU: WHITE MOTHER]
    
    Trigger:
    Sometime after the end of the main plot.
    May depend on finding and clicking on all the whales listed
    in the Marine Encyclopedia (dolphin/whale section).
    
    Story:
    It tells of the legend of the Ancient [White] Mother. (legendary)
    
    Fulfillment:
    One day as you stroll along the beach on Nineball Island, you notice
    a sparkly area on the sand. You bend down to pick up the item there;
    suddenly Jean-Eric appears at your side. "What did you find? Oh, it's
    a whale ornament." He goes to explain to you about the ornament.
    They are quite popular with the tourists in Pelago. They depict the
    Ancient Mother, a long thought legendary whale found a few years
    ago in Manoa Lai (this is a reference to the first game's plot).
    [EU name for the region: Manaurai]
    
    The Ancient Mother would likely be on a migratory route for food;
    in fact, she may even be around the Arctic this time of year. If
    you want, why not try to find her in the Arctic; this would be a
    great opportunity to see a creature few have laid eyes on.
    How about it? Sure, why not; let's go!
    
    So head off to the North Coast of Canada; dive and swim to the
    Ice Mosaic (C-2C), get a cutscene where you get to see the legendary
    Ancient Mother! [EU name: White Mother]
