"Disappointing."

Does WWF Raw for the Xbox live up to the hype? Not exactly.

Features: 5/10

This is one of the game's weakest points. Most of the stuff THQ and Anchor ''promised'' have been scrapped. There's no blood, no cage matches, no commentary, and no Royal Rumble matches. There's a Title Mode you can play to unlock the McMahon family and Fred Durst. There's no Tag Title Mode, and you can't save your progress while trying to get a title shot, which is ridiculous. There's a Museum in the game, where you can check out wrestlers' bios, or look at the items you've found during a match. The King of The Ring tournament is great, except for one ''small'' flaw. In order to skip a match, you must start the match and skip the match in the pause menu. The Create-A-Wrestler is pretty good. It features the best entrance options I've ever seen. You can adjust the lighting effects, pyrotechnics, and more. But there aren't many match types. All you can choose from is a Single, Tag, Triple Threat, Fatal 4-Way, Battle Royal, and Handicap. You can add Hardcore Rules to these matches, though.

Gameplay: 6/10

When you're opponent is making his/her way to the ring, you can interfere in his/her entrance, but there's a chance you're attack will be countered. The Hardcore matches can be brutal. No match is the same. You'll encounter diffrent items every time. Some items can be worn, such as Jake ''The Snake'' Roberts' Python Damien, and Jerry ''The King'' Lawler's crown, even a swan tutu. Ladders cannot be climbed, you cannot climb on top of tables, and the only way you can put them through is by doing a move next to it. Invite a few friends over, and the game can be a lot of fun. Whatever you do, don't play solo. The A.I. in WWF Raw is terrible. If you decide to take the match outside the ring, the A.I. will go in and out of the ring repeatedly, and it's very annoying. Another problem with the gameplay is the grappling system. The reversal system is awful. It's so easy to reverse a move, that you'll have a hard time landing your favorite move. Also, making an opponent groggy is a chore, and you'll most likely fail to land a grappling move because it's so damn easy to counter a move. Landing finishers aren't very effective. Your opponent will get right back up most of the time.

Graphics: 8/10

WWF Raw looks gorgeous. The wrestlers are photorealistic, and the textures are well done. The lighting effects are unbelieveable, and the pyro is great. However, the same thing can't be said about the animations. Most of the moves look great, but the walking animations are pathetic. The wrestlers walk like they got something up their ass.

Sound: 7/10

The entrance songs sound great, but the in-game music sucks.

Value: 5/10

With a lack of match types, no season mode, and cheap A.I., WWF Raw gets boring quickly. But the Create A Wrestlers boosts the score a little.

Overall: 6/10

Overall, WWF Raw is a disappointment, but it can really fun when you have company over. If you must have a wrestling game for you Xbox, buy it. Otherwise, just rent it.
