"This is no childs story... Well... It is a childs story.. but not a story for a child."
Gameplay - Where do I start? Other then the fact that you can't kill main story characters and other important characters, you can do WHAT ever you feel like. Want to kick a chick like a football? Go ahead! Want to buy a house, get married, beat your wife, kill her, get married again and then bang the new wife? Go ahead! Want to run around the towns with your sword out slaying towns folk, breaking windows, bursting into houses, killing everyone in it, buying the now empty house and then selling it back to the people for an even higher price? Go ahead! There is pretty much nothing you can't do in this game atleast in some senses. Overall this game has the most freedom I have ever sceen in a game. Even the ending, you can twist around to good or bad. The next aspect would be the battle controls which other then a few flaws are perfect. My only complaint is that picking an enemy AND locking on between friendlies and enemies is a pain. A few times I have locked onto a friendly and killed him by accident when I ment to kill an enemy.
Story - The overall story of Fable isn't anything to great, boy with secret powers, saved by a hero, town destroyed, must rise to defeate the power or join it. Its pretty typical but Fables story isn't really what its going for. The best part is that you can make your own story and change it how you see fit, be it kill your best friend in a battle where you must pick his or her fate or be it sacrafice a loved one to save the world. Its pretty cool. ^.^
Graphics/Sound - I won't lie, Fable does NOT have the best graphics, there are quite a few games out now that top Fables graphics with ease, but it isn't bad. The graphics seem to fit the mood of the game and my only real complaint is that the chacters *other then the main ones* seem to lack creativity, but it is cool that what ever armor/weapon you are wearing, it will always be on during the cut scenes as they are all done in game, think Metal Gear Solid. So if you look like a dark knight in game, you will look like one in the cut scenes. The music is good but its nothing great, I really don't remember much of it as its either not loud enough or that great that I remember it. The biggets problem I have is that all the weapons are pretty much the same other then a few slight changes, be it in color or shape, but overall nothing is to spectacular. I was hoping for weapons that had different shapes, totaly unique like in common RPGs like Final Fantasy or something... But I ended up with something much worse. I really don't like the selection of weapons you are given.
Play Time/Replayability - This is Fables strong point, and also its weakness. If you prefer to just go for story and don't plan to get everything and have fun, you will beat the game in around 5-6 hours. The game isn't very hard, which is my only real complaint. It is so easy to find healing and reviving items and the bosses don't really require any leveling up just a good use of the bow and dodging skill. BUT if you are looking forward to just running around, being evil and good and just having the time of your life, you will love this game. I already have 3 saved files *One good, one bad, one in the middle* and have invested a good 30-40 hours into the game. There are a few things, which I probably went over, which do kill the replay time a bit. This game hopes that you will do stuff for the shear joy of just doing it. Take getting Married for example, you can marry a guy or a women which is pretty cool, which is fun but it serves no real purpose. All the women / men talk the same and say the same things and other then following you and being able to screw em, they really don't do anything... Special... Another aspect would be the owning housing. While its fun to know you own people, that's really it... You get some money from it but not enough for you to notice and by the time you have enough to notice the increase, its to late and you really don't need it anymore.
Final Recommendation - If you own an X-box you MUST get this game, and if you have the money and don't own an X-box, I would buy one just for this game.
