help you out with learning how to use Kenshi. Of course, you could look up some
of this information in the game itself, but this FAQ is here, I guess as a
printable resource. Well, I guess that's all I need to put here, so on to the
next section...

Kenshi has three different fighting styles that you need to completely
master so that you can be in total control of a match. Those three fighting
styles are 1) Tai Chi , 2) San Shou , and 3) Katana. Even though technically
Katana doesn't count as a fighting style , I'm still going to tell you about
it. Onward...

Just in case you have just started playing Mortal Kombat : Deadly Alliance , I
am going to include the introductory missions.

INTRO MISSION 1

"The path of every warrior has a humble beginning , and the road to one's
destiny is long traveled. Each of life's challenges bring you closer to
enlightenment. Experience is the path to understanding. By completing these
many journeys to come , you will have gained strength , speed , agility , and
wisdom to master a variety of fighting arts."

"Every step is a victory , how you maneuver in kombat plays as much a part of
your strategy as how you punch or kick. Tapping your directional buttons toward
or away from your opponent will guide your movements as you will see. Step
toward the ninja three times. Then , step away from him three times"

This is very self explanatory. Tap > three times , and then tap < three times.
**
"Do not always assume that offensiveness is always the correct path to victory.
A hasty retreat can give you the space you need to plan for your next attack.
By quickly tapping  twice twice away from your opponent , you can perform a
Backward Dash. Put distance between you and Scorpion by performing three
Backward Dashes"

This is easy too. Tap < , < fast three times and you are finished with the
first introductory mission.

"Becoming familiar with the Fighting Styles of the warrior you have chosen to
emulate is very important. Know a Fighting Style like you would know yourself.
Let no attribute escape you. Strike your opponent once with each of these four
basic attacks to understand their characteristics"

Once again , very easy. Walk up to your opponent and use your four basic
attacks (1) , (2) , (3) , and (4) , on him.
**
"Often you can perform different attacks with the same button by holding one of
the directional buttons at the same time. For example , pressing (2) while
holding < will execute a different attack than pressing only (2). Strike
Scorpion with each of Sub-Zero's high punch attacks"

This exercise is only slightly more difficult , but it is still easy. When a
name of an attack shows up at the top of the screen , press the corresponding
buttons to execute the attack.

"One wins battles by making no mistakes. Making no mistakes is what establishes
the certainty of victory , for it means conquering an enemy that is already
defeated."

"Attacks that are executed by combining the directional buttons and an attack
button will often strike your opponent in different locations. In Sub-Zero's
Shotokan Fighting Style , the (4) button will initiate an attack to his
opponent's chest. However , by holding < + (4) , Sub-Zero will attack his
opponent's knees. Strike Scorpion with each of Sub-Zero's high and low attacks.
**
Once again , just like in one of the previous missions , just press the buttons
that correspond with the move shown on the screen.
**
"Stomp Kick - (4) , Low Shin Kick - < + (4)"
**
"A mixture of high and low attacks can overcome the defenses of even the most
determined foe. Strike Scorpion with two high attacks and two low attacks."

This one is pretty easy too , just attack Scorpion with two of the high attacks
you've learned , and two of the low attacks you've learned.

"You must learn to let your fighting techniques flow from you. Every warrior
has the potential to effortlessly link his or her moves into one long attack
combination. For example , Sub-Zero can combine his Shotokan attacks one and
two by pressing (1) and (2) in rapid succession. Test your attack combo skills.
Execute the short form of Sub-Zero's Shotokan combo called Icy Pain"

Just walk up to your opponent and press (1) , (2) , quickly.
**
"Icy Pain (Short) - (1) , (2)"
**
"You are indeed a warrior of great skill. You have mastered the technique of
combining many attacks into one attack. This knowledge will serve you well on
your coming journeys. Now try the full Icy Pain combo move"

This combo is only slightly harder , just press the buttons that show up on
screen in rapid succession.

INTRO MISSION 5

"A pacifist cultivates good karma... Defense is just as important as offense in
the Art of Mortal Kombat. A true warrior must know when to avoid contact as
well as when to strike."

"A defensive warrior can block an attack by holding (R2) while his opponent
strikes. You must now attempt to block five of Scorpion's attacks."
**
This one is a little bit different but much easier than the previous exercises.
Get in as close as you can to Scorpion and just hold down (R2) and you will
block all of his attacks.
**
Your opponent may attack from above or from below. You must learn to defend
from either direction. Practice what you have learned and block against three
of Scorpion's high attacks."
**
Do the exact same thing you did as in the previous lesson , and you will
complete this one.
**
"Excellent. Now block three low attacks"
**
Easy. Get in close to Scorpion again , and hold \/ + (R2) to block his three
low attacks.

INTRO MISSION 6

"For you to become a true master of Mortal Kombat , you must learn to attack
with multiple Fighting Styles. Every warrior has three Fighting Styles , each
with it's own strengths and weaknesses."

"Sub-Zero's three Fighting Styles are Shotokan , Dragon , and the Kori Blade.
It is important to understand the different advantages and disadvantages of
each Fighting Style. By using (L1) , a warrior can instantly switch to another
Fighting Style with a completely different set of attacks and special moves.
Depending on the situation , a warrior may choose to switch to a different
Fighting Style to take advantage of its different attacks. Cycle through all
three of Sub-Zero's Fighting Styles."
**
Easy. Press (L1) three times.
**
"You must now demonstrate your knowledge of multi-style fighting by striking
your foe with an attack from each of your Fighting Styles. First you must
attack Scorpion with any attack. Then you must switch to the next Fighting
Style and strike with a different attack. Finally , you must switch to your
third Fighting Style and strike one more time."
**
I swear , all of these intro missions are so easy. Just hit Scorpion with any
attack and press (L1). Hit him with another attack and press (L1) again. After
that , hit him one more time with any attack to complete the mission.
Personally , when I get to the Fighting Style Kori Blade , I like to hit
Scorpion with the (R1) attack.

INTRO MISSION 7

"If you desire total victory in Mortal Kombat , you must learn to harness the
tools at your disposal."

"The weapon is an extension to every warrior's soul. Though a weapon may
deliver great amounts of damage to one's opponent , wielding a weapon also
means taking more damage. Be wary of your health while brandishing a weapon.
Use your Kori Blade to bear your opponent senseless."
**
Let me go ahead and warn you. DO NOT IMPALE SCORPION with your Kori Blade and
DO NOT CHANGE YOUR FIGHTING STYLE , because you will immediately fail the
mission. Just repeatedly use the
Bitter Blade combo. (1) , < + (1).
**
"Likewise , if your opponent is wielding a weapon , take advantage of his or
her increased vulnerability and strike to achieve maximum kombatitive
effectiveness. Attack Scorpion while he is holding his weapon to exploit his
weakened state. He will take the most damage with a weapon in his hand."
**
First off , impale Scorpion with your Kori Blade by pressing (R1). Then pummel
him repeatedly with the Icy Pain combo. (1) , (2) , (4).
**

"A tree sways in the breeze... By mastering the 3D walk , a dexterous warrior
can outmaneuver an attacking foe , avoid external barriers , or force an
opponent into an obstacle."

"A useful 3D walk technique is the Evasion. If timed right , an attacking
opponent can be dodged , leaving him or her open for a counter-attack. This
method of evasion will require much practice , but once you have mastered it,
you will become a most formidable kombatant. Quickly sidestep Shang Tsung's
attack as it approaches."
**
Get in real close to Shang Tsung and right when he attacks you , sidestep by
pressing /\ or \/.
**

**
"You have mastered the fundamentals of Mortal Kombat. Use this knowledge well
as you begin your spiritual journey and experience conflict through the wyes of
skilled warriors"

Deadly Alliance. Now , we move on to Kenshi's Konquest Missions.

KENSHI MISSION 1
-------
"Although blind , the swordsman who simply calls himself Kenshi is an
accomplished warrior. The sword of his ancestors guide his movement as if he
could see. The sword also seems to give him powers far beyond that of average
kombatants. Tai Chi Chuan , or 'Supreme Ultimate Fist' , consists of 13
postures which form the basis for all modern Tai Chi. It is considered an
internal form of martial arts where internal energy , or 'Chi' , is an
important element."
**
"After the Special Forces operative , Cyrax , was reported missing in Outworld,
Kenshi was recruited as a free agent to search for him. His ulterior motive for
accepting the task , however , was to seek out the sorcerer Shang Tsung as
well. For this first lesson in Tai Chi basic attacks , Cyrax will be your
sparring partner.
**
This is just like some of the Intro Missions , just get in close to Cyrax and
attack him with the attacks that show up on screen by pressing the
corresponding buttons that appear onscreen.
**
"Mid Palm Strike - (1) , Chopping Strike - (2) , Pushing Hands - > + (1) ,
Quick Uppercut - < + (2) , Rising Uppercut \/ + (2) , Straight Kick - (3) ,
Spinning Roundhouse - (4)

"Well done. Your next lesson will be to learn a Tai Chi attack called
Rising Spade Hand ( < + (2) ). This move allows Kenshi to pop an opponent into
the air long enough to execute another attack. Execute the Rising Spade Hand
on Cyrax."

Easy. Walk up right beside Cyrax and press < + (2).
**
"Rising Spade Hand - < + (2)"
**
"Trey attacking Cyrax with the Rising Spade Hand and , while he is still in the
air , attack him two more times with the Rising Spade Hand."

This one is a little bit harder than the last exercise. Juggle Cyrax up into
the air with the Rising Spade Hand once , and before he hit's the ground , hit
him with it two more times.

"Juggle - < + (1)... < + (1)... < + (1)"
**
"Excellent , you are learning quickly. Let us move on to the Tai Chi low
attacks. These attacks are quite effective , however they do not have much
reach. Kenshi uses Tai Chi low attacks in close proximity to his opponent."

This is just like some of the Intro Missions , just get in close to Cyrax and
attack him with the low attacks that show up on screen by pressing the
corresponding buttons that appear onscreen.
**
"Dual Fist Strike - \/ + (1) , Low Lean Kick - \/ + (3),
Low Spin Kick - \/ + (4), Standing Sweep - < + (4)"
**
"While in the Tai Chi Fighting Style , Kenshi can taunt (R1) his opponent. This
move is not only intimidating , but it also rejuvenates some of Kenshi's
health. Execute two successful taunts to regain full health."

This one isn't that hard. Keep away from Cyrax by going backwards from him, and
when you have a lot of room between you , press (R1). Back up some more , and
press (R1) again.

"Well done! Kenshi is descended from a line of long-
forgotten warrior kings who resided in a region somewhere between
Europe and China.  Their people were comprised of a mixture of

Once again , just execute the attacks that show up onscreen by pressing the
buttons that correspond with the attack , which also show up onscreen.

"San Shou has two quick pop-up attacks: the Rising Toe Kick ( > + (3) ) and the
Long Range Fist ( < + (1) ). These moves allow Kenshi to pop his opponent into
the air long enough to execute another attack. Practice the Rising Toe Kick and
the Long Range Fist on your sparring partner , Cyrax"

Walk up to Cyrax and press > + (3) , and then walk up to him again and
press < + (2).

Wow, it sure had been a while since I updated this FAQ... with school and all.
I'm just going to add this great tip in from Matthew M. concerning Kenshi Vs.
Moloch.

Kenshi Vs. Moloch - When fighting Moloch, Kenshi can use his Katana
continuously and get lots of unanswered hits. I just used the Spinning Slash
and the Crescent Blade Slash (2x is the Moon Slash) over and over once I could
get close. (Moon Slash, SS, Moon Slash, SS...) If you keep using these over and
over, he should not be able to hit you. I took away about half of Moloch's
energy before he could do anything. However, DO NOT use the Reverse Stab as
Moloch will more than likely block it, and even if he doesn't, the recovery
time is far too great and Moloch will pound you with something every time. The
Sidestep Swing works great against Moloch, too, if you can time it right. I
started a couple combos off using it. This is not a guaranteed win, but it does
make the win a lot easier as Kenshi doesn't have a lot of reach in Tai Chi or
San Shou. For some reason, the continuous slashing doesn't really work well
against anyone else but Moloch. (Apparently, this is for the GC version of
Deadly Alliance, but I'm sure it will work with the PS2 version as well.)
