1: INTRODUCTION

Midnight Club...  When the original came out back at the Playstation 2 launch,
I wasn't expecting much from it.  It looked like a generic racer to me.  When I
did pick it up at Christmas of 2000 though, I was like "whoa...this is
awesome!"  The courses were completely nonlinear, and the cities were just fun
to cruise around in to take in the sights.  The only thing that was wrong with
it was that some races were excessively frustrating, almost to the point of
insanity.  Despite that, I eventually defeated the game.

Now we've got Midnight Club 2.  When I saw screenshots of it, I just knew I had
to try it out.  The cars looked incredible, and so did the cities.  This game
is a vast improvement over the original Midnight Club, with improved graphics,
new moves, new cities, motorcycles, and a lot of other things.  The insanely
difficult races are still there though, but that hasn't turned me off.

It's because of the strange love-hate relationship most players experience when
playing this game.  We adore this game, yet we want to toss it out the window
when we just can't beat that one friggin' race where the other drivers always
win every stinking time.  Hopefully, this walkthrough will help to take out
some of that hate and leave the love by itself.

BASIC CONTROLS

ADVANCED CONTROLS
=================
BURNOUT - When your car is sitting still, hold down the handbrake and press the
accelerator.  Your tires will start smoking, and the meter on the right side of
the screen will fill up.  Release the handbrake to take off like a rocket once
the meter is full.  You should always use this at the start of every race after
you unlock it.

IN-AIR CONTROLS - Hold down the L1 button while traveling through the air, then
use the left stick to make your car tilt in the direction of your choice in the
air.  This is helpful for getting your car level with the ground before you set
down.

SLIP-STREAM TURBO - Get behind a car, and you should see two white lines going
along either side of the vehicle.  Stay inside these two lines to build up your
meter on the right.  The closer you are to the other vehicle, the faster the
meter will fill.  When the meter is full, press R2 to do a Slip-stream Turbo. 
It's like a nitro, but the effect is shorter.  You do get a bigger boost in
speed though versus a nitro.

TWO WHEEL DRIVING - Hold down the L1 button while riding along the ground, and
press your stick left or right to make your car get up on two wheels.  Release
the L1 button to get all four wheels back on the ground again.

MOTORCYCLE MANEUVERS
====================
WHEELIE - While accelerating, hold down the L1 button and pull back on your
left stick to do a wheelie.  This will give you a boost in speed.  Don't pull
back too far, or you'll fall off the bike.

CROUCH DOWN - Hold down the L1 button and press down on your left stick. 
You'll duck down and get a boost in speed, since you're in a more aerodynamic
position.

LEAN TURN - Hold down the L1 button, and turn left or right.  You'll lean into
the turn, and you'll be able to make a quicker turn because of this.  Do this
while laying off the accelerator for a better turn.

ENDO - Hold down the L1 button.  Hit your normal brake, and press forward on
your left stick.  The bike will balance up on its front wheel.  Unlike the
other moves, this one is mostly just for style rather than help in a race.

LOCATING OTHER RACERS IN CAREER MODE
====================================
When you're not racing somebody in Career mode, you will cruise around the city
until you find somebody to race.  The red arrows represent other racers out
there that are members of the Midnight Club.  To quickly locate another racer,
press up on your D Pad to bring up the city map.  You'll be able to see exactly
where every racer is.  You'll also know who each racer is, since their name is
above their arrow.

Once you get to a racer, press the L3 button.  You press the L3 button by
pressing down on your left stick like its a button.  This will flash your high
beams.  If your opponent sees you flashing him/her, then he/she will lead you
to the starting location of their next race.  Don't get too far behind, or
you'll lose them.

The city champion will challenge you automatically once you have defeated all
the underling drivers in the city.  You have to defeat him/her to move onto the
next city.  After you have defeated all three city champions, you'll be able to
race the world champion.  If you can beat him, you'll earn the world champion
title and you'll have completed Career mode.

GENERAL RACING TIPS
===================
I must say in this game that there's only so much a guide can do.  The reason
is because a lot of how well you do in the races depends more upon your skill
rather than knowing lots of little shortcuts and stuff you can get from a
guide.  So, if you keep losing even if you know the course and everything, you
probably need to practice some more.

Don't fret and restart when you lose the lead or make a little mistake.  The
race is never over until you cross the finish line.  You'll likely get a chance
to make up for your error later.  Let me give you an example.  On the world
champ's first race, I was in the lead and close to the finish line, but I
slammed into a wall.  One of my opponents got ahead of me, and we had already
gone through the last turn.  It looked like it was over, but then he crashed
into a truck and spun out.  This gave me the chance to take the lead again and
win the race.  The opponents can make mistakes just like you, and that's where
you can get ahead of them again.

When you are racing, concentrate on your driving only and do not focus on other
things.  Don't watch what your opponents are doing, don't think about your
homework or whatever you need to do today, etc.  If you're not paying attention
to what is happening around your car on the screen, you will likely run into
obstacles and make other errors.

Try not to get angry when you can't beat a race.  Anger will only make you mess
up even more if you let it get out of control.  If you're starting to get
really really pissed off, take a break for awhile to cool down.  You'll
probably do a lot better once you come back to the game after releasing that
rage.

Choose the right car for the race at hand.  If the course you're on has a lot
of long straightaways, top speed is what you want.  If the course is very
twisty, you want acceleration and handling.  If you're going through a lot of
traffic, a motorcycle would be useful because of its small size.

Even if you're going to lose, go through the entire course you're racing on a
few times.  Your chances of winning will increase dramatically if you know
where you're supposed to go during a race.

Watch your opponents go through the course.  They tend to show you a lot of
shortcuts if you follow them around for awhile.  Especially watch the leader
(marked with a red arrow), since he/she ususally takes the best route.

Try to avoid the pack.  Your opponents are pretty cheap, and they won't
hesitate to sideswipe you or make you spin out with a pit maneuver if you get
near them.  Also, your opponents tend to cause a lot of wrecks with the other
non-racing cars, which in turn create roadblocks for you to drive around.

You do not have to drive right through most checkpoints for them to register. 
Driving through the glow surrounding the checkpoint can also cause the
checkpoint to register like when you drive straight through the column.  Beware
though, the smaller the glow around the checkpoint, the closer you need to be
to the column for the checkpoint to count.

Get used to driving on the lines between lanes to dodge traffic.  Since no cars
drive on the lines (except to change lanes), that is a good place on the road
where you can keep your speed up.  This is a very helpful technique when you're
going the wrong way down the road, and when you're going down narrow two-lane
streets.  The sidewalk is another place to avoid traffic, but I don't recommend
using it much since there's often a lot of crap there.  Crap like
indestructable wooden telephone poles, dumpsters, etc.

Stay far away from gas pumps and wooden telephone poles.  Both of these objects
will slow you down a lot if you hit them.  If you hit a gas pump at a gas
station, your car will be blown up and destroyed instantly.  Also, while metal
poles may be safe, hitting a wooden pole will likely stop you dead in your
tracks.  Strange how you can plow right through metal poles, but the wooden
ones are indestructable...

Sometimes, a longer, but simpler, route is better than an elaborate shortcut. 
In most shortcuts you'll need to go through narrow passageways or over
dangerous jumps or both, where crashes are likely.  So, you'll either need to
slow down or risk a collision that could kill your run.  When you stick to the
streets, you'll be able to maintain your speed better.

Take as few turns as possible during your run.  Every time you turn, you'll
almost always have to drop some speed.  Don't swerve needlessly back and forth
all over the road when there are no obstacles.  That is wasted movement that
will cost you speed.  Also, try to pick a route that is straight with few
corners, or corners that are gentle.  The fewer corners you have to deal with,
the better you'll be able to maintain a high average speed.

Save your nitros for straightaways.  You can't turn too well while you're using
a nitro.  Also, make sure you have firm control over your car before you give
it a squeeze or you could do more harm than good.  If you wanna use a nitro
during a turn, make sure you're nearly finished turning or you'll crash.  All
of these rules also apply to Slip-stream Turbo.

One exception to the nitro rule of not using them while turning is if you're
spinning out.  The sudden burst of speed can get your car back on a stable
course, and it's especially useful when it's raining.  Don't use nitros all the
time for that though, since you don't have many of them.  Concentrate instead
on developing your driving so that you don't have to worry about spinning out.

Use your nitros at the right times.  Don't use nitros near the start of the
race.  They would be better saved for the final stretches of the course, when
everyone tends to run out of shots.  Also, don't use nitros just because
everybody else uses them.  Your opponents sometimes don't pick good times to
use nitros.  Also, use Slip-stream Turbo when you can to conserve your nitros.

When you're driving in the rain, it's a usually good idea to pick a car with
front wheel drive.  You can tell if a car has front wheel drive when the front
tires smoke when you do a burnout.  Front wheel drive cars are much more stable
than cars with rear wheel drive, which tend to spin out more.  This is why the
Knight is the best handling car in the rain, because it's got front wheel
drive.

4: CAREER MODE WALKTHROUGH

NOTE: You may notice that I never put down any of the motorcycles as a
recommended car for any race.  No, this doesn't mean I hate motorcycles.  This
is because the motorcycles can dominate most of the races you use them on, once
you learn how to control them.  So, I didn't really see the point of putting
down the motorcycle names in almost every recommended car list.

This is a very simple race.  You don't even have to turn onto any other streets
from the one you start on.  As long as you avoid running into anything and keep
your speed up, you should win easily.  When you're about to cross the first
bridge though, watch out for that big truck!  Try driving under it, like they
did in "The Fast and the Furious".

At the start of the race, a police car will appear.  However, Moses says the
race is still on.  After you go around the first two corners, you need to head
through the construction zone and go up a long ramp.  This ramp will shoot you
over the clover-leaf highway loop.  Drive down the wrong way of the road after
you land.  You'll be at an offramp shortly.

After you leave the offramp, make a left turn and then a right turn at the next
intersection.  Drive down this road to hit the next checkpoint.  Make a left at
the next intersection, then turn right so you don't go into the canal.  Make
one more right turn to get to the finish.

SHORTCUTS:
When you're on the offramp, you should see an onramp across the street from the
end of this offramp.  Look just to the left of the onramp for an alley.  Go
down this alley, and you won't have to go left and circle around the block to
hit the next checkpoint.

Right after the checkpoint in the above paragraph, there's another checkpoint
just ahead.  Instead of going left at the next intersection, head straight
through the alley.  Make a quick left to hit the finish.

STEVEN

Takeoff Time

This is only a race against the clock, but it won't be hard to beat the time
Steven has set for you.  When you get close to the second checkpoint, you may
notice a traffic car being chased by a police car.  They'll pull into an alley
on the left side of the road.  This is the game's way of pointing out a
shortcut to you.  Drive into the alley, and follow it until you get to the end
of the alley where you need to turn right.

After you pass under the freeway, make a quick right turn through a chainlink
fence into another alley.  At the end of this alley, go left.  Now, at the next
checkpoint, you can either go up a ramp and through the construction site for a
little shortct, or you can stick to the road.  You should have enough time
either way.  A cop will appear soon, but he's not much of a threat.

After you pass the cop, you can either cut through the big building in front of
you or stick to the road.  Go either way and hit the finish line.

Triple Threat

This is the first race you have where you can hit the checkpoints in any order.
 The best order to hit them in would be to hit the one to the northwest, and
then hit the rest of them clockwise.  If you decide to follow Steven at first,
then don't do what he does at the first checkpoint when he turns right.  Turn
right at the next intersection and follow that road around to the other two
checkpoints.  Then, head for the finish.

MARIA

Freeway Rally
****************************

Just challenging Maria will unlock In-air Controls.  You'll get a chance to try
them out right after the race begins.  The race starts with a cliff jump, so
balance out the car with your new controls to make a clean landing.  The rest
of the race doesn't really require much of a walkthrough, since you're just
following the freeway.

Be careful not to hit any of the other cars so you don't lose speed, and watch
out for the wrecks the other racers will make.  Don't worry much about the
police helicopters, because they don't do much apart from shine a light on you.
 Watch out when you go down an offramp and up an onramp the second time.  The
big truck from the first race with Moses will make a return appearance there.

You might want to save your one shot of nitrous for the end when you get off
the highway.  Use it to speed towards the finish line at a gas station.  Watch
out for the cop on the last stretch, and the gas tanker just before the finish
line.

Corner Cutter
****************************

- You can race Hector and Gina now

In this race, you are on a time limit.  The checkpoints reset your timer every
time you hit them instead of adding more time, so you can't crash much.  Also,
this race tends to wind some, so you should use the Citi instead of the Emu. 
It can corner better, and it has better acceleration to get up to speed after
tight corners.  Some of the intersections you need to turn at have empty lots
or space that you can drive through.  Be sure to take advantage of these empty
spaces so that you don't have to turn for long distances.

There will be quite a few cops during this race, and even a couple of road
blocks, but you shouldn't have to worry much about them.  Save your nitrous
shot for the straightaways towards the end of the race.  You can also save a
little more time at the end with a little shortcut.  After you hit the last
checkpoint before the finish, drive up the hill road that curves slowly to the
east.  Instead of turning right at the first intersection, turn right into the
alley a little ways past it.  The alley will drop you off at the finish.

ANGEL
=============================================================

This is another race where you can collect all the checkpoints in any order. 
The best route to take would be this one:  From the start, go left and hit that
checkpoint.  Turn right, then head west while collecting checkpoints.

Keep following the trail of checkpoints onto what I like to call the ridge
road.  It's the narrow two-lane street on the north side of LA that runs
through the woods.  When you're on this street, be careful not to run off the
road and hit a telephone pole.  Those wooden poles are as solid as rocks.

Stay on this road after it becomes a four-lane road, then turn left at the last
checkpoint.  Once you're past the last checkpoint, you're at the ideal place to
use your nitro.  Make a left at the next intersection you come to here, and
follow that street to the finish.

Drag

In this race, you're challenging Diego, who is Angel's father.  His ride is a
sweet muscle car that's ideal for this race.  It starts with a jump into the
big canal.  You'll then race down the canal.  When you get to the last bridge,
you will turn onto the street to finish the race.  Unfortunately, since the
course is so long and straight, it favors a big muscle machine like Diego's. 
You need to keep your speed up in this race if you want to win.  Lucky for you,
there's not much to crash into down in the canal.  However, there is the dam
jump near the start.

You can either take one of the two big ramps that go over the top, or you can
take one of the lower ramps on either side of the dam.  I usually take the
right big ramp, since Diego can crowd the left big ramp and the small ramps are
slow.  If you really want to be evil at the dam, knock Diego off course so that
he misses the ramps and hits the dam wall instead.  This will slow him down for
a long time, and you'll be able to eaily win.

Watch out for the jump when you travel under the second bridge after the dam. 
It can throw you off course and cause you to wreck.  Also, be careful to slow
down some when exiting the canal.  It's easy to fly over the top of the canal
and crash into a building wall.  You can however turn jumping out of the canal
to your advantage.  Aim your car towards the orange finish line while you're in
the canal, and use your nitrous shot to jump over the lip of he canal and over
a building.  You'll land right at the finish.  You won't have to waste time
driving around the building then.

Cheaters Never Win
****************************

At the start of the race, that lamer Angel will not live up to his name by
cheating.  He zooms away before you're allowed to start.  Don't worry though,
it's not that hard to catch him.  In this first part, the checkpoints will be
on the bridges over the canals.  Unfortunately, there will be racers traveling
both ways on the bridges to hit the checkpoints, so be careful not to have a
wreck with cars coming the opposite way.

The next hazard worthy of note is the trucks.  One will swerve onto the road
after you hit the last bridge checkpoint.  Also, after you hit the checkpoint
in the industrial sector before the long straightaway, two big trucks will
swerve across the road to block that straightaway.  Take care not to hit them. 
After you pass the trucks, you're in the ideal place to hit the nitro.

When you hit the next checkpoint, you'll be headed for a set of stairs leading
to a big building.  Crash through the glass doors in the front of the building
and go down the hall for a shortcut.  Zip across the parking lot here and
through the stadium area to keep your speed up.

After you hit the first checkpoint after exiting the stadium area, make a right
turn onto the small two-lane street.  When you hit the checkpoint at the end of
this road, make a quick right and head into the entertainment district to get
to the finish line.

GINA
=============================================================

Unexpected Guests
****************************

At the start of the race, several bikers will fly out of a building behind you
and onto the street.  Gina will say how they're really reckless, and then the
race will be on.  There's not much that's special about this race really.  It
twists a bit at the start, then most of the rest of the course is full of long
straights.

After you hit a checkpoint next to a lot with some trailers in it, get ready
for a shortcut on the left.  At the next intersection, make a left turn and
zoom over some stairs for a jump.  Drive over the rest of the block to the next
checkpoint.  If you can't find the jump, don't worry.  Gina and her buddies
will show you where it is.

Once you hit the next two checkpoints after the jump, you'll be on a long
straightaway.  Hit your nitrous here.  You will go into a car park after the
straightaway.  The next checkpoint is outside the car park, so you have to slip
through a gap between the pillars to hit the checkpoint.  Once you're out of
the carpark area, look on the left side of the road for a set of glass doors. 
Crash through those glass doors for another shortcut.  Gina will again show you
where the shortcut is if you can't find it.  Follow the rest of the course to
the finish line where the bikers are waiting for you.

Showdown

If you want a sweet crotch rocket, you have to beat those bikers that showed up
during the last race.  Their bikes may be fast, but they have a serious
weakness you can exploit.  Obviously, almost any crash for a bike can be a
really nasty one.  So, if a biker pulls up next to you, be evil and sideswipe
them.  You'll knock them right off their bike.  This will give you a lot of
time to get far ahead.

After the first corner, you'll be on a straightaway.  This is where the bikes
have the best chance to get far ahead of you.  Don't let that happen.  Try to
knock them off their bikes before they can get around the first corner and up
to speed.  You could even use the nitrous on the upcoming straightaway and
crash into them from behind, but I'd rather save it for the end of the race.

After you leave the straightaway and pass under the freeway, you'll see the
next checkpoint ahead.  Go through the alley to hit it.  It's now time to play
zig zag.  You have to zig zag back and forth along the blocks to hit all the
checkpoints.  The bikers will be headed both ways, but that's good news for
you.  A head on crash might mess you up some, but it'll really mess up a biker.
 Don't forget about the alley shortcut at the end of the zig zags.

The last part of the race is another long straightaway.  Hopefully, you're in
the lead now.  Since the bikes are faster though, they still might have a
chance to catch you.  Should that happen, sideswipe them to mess them up bad. 
Also, if you still have your nitrous, use it here to get up to speed.

As you can see from this walkthrough, I really like to bash up bikes a lot. 
Just don't use these dirty tactics online, or you're really gonna get some
people pissed off at you.  The computer doesn't care though, because machines
don't have feelings ;).

Weight Training
****************************

This isn't actually a race.  It's just a chance for you to have some practice
using bikes.  Simply ride to the checkpoint in the industrial sector on the
other end of the map, and ride back to the beach here to complete the course. 
You might want to turn off that annoying cinematic camera on the options menu,
so that it doesn't mess you up while you're ducking down or doing wheelies and
endos.  Bikes are like ten times easier to use with cinematic camera off.

Flight to the Finish
****************************

This race is mostly long straights and easy corners, so using a car with high
top speed is a good idea.  The freeway section at the start of the race
shouldn't be much of a challenge.  However, watch out when you get to the
airport.  It's easy to make a wrong turn and lose the race because you got
lost.  Also, watch out for vehicles pulling away from the sidewalks and
changing lanes, especially limos and buses.

After you clear the airport, you'll need to make a run through the inner city. 
A cop will confront you at the start of this section, so watch out.  Once you
hit the stadium area, it would be a good idea to use your nitro.  Speed through
the entertainment district and then through the construction site to the
finish.

It's possible to use the crane on the northwest side of the construction site
to leap to the finish line.  After you hit the last checkpoint, follow the road
till you get to the next intersection.  Make a right turn there.  At the next
intersection, the entrane to the construction site will be a little to the
left.  Go through the entrance, and head for the opening in the yellow building
in front of you to hit the ramp.  You can watch one of the computer players do
it to see how to set yourself up for the jump.

At the start of this part, Hector will prepare to start to race, but then the
police will show up.  Hector will say he's calling off the race for now, and
that you need to meet him somewhere else after you've lost the cops.  You have
to do what Hector says or you're not getting a race.

The easiest way to lose the cops would be to jump into the canal.  You might
even lose them right away when you do this.  Go over the dam jump, and then hit
the nitrous to leave the cops in the dust.  If that doesn't work, keep
restarting until it does.

Once you lose the cops, travel down the canal to the warehouse Hector told you
about.  If any cops see you, they'll probably be on the bridges and thus no
threat.  Pull into the finish line to complete this mission.

This race is in the rain, so you should get a car with good handling.  At the
start of the race, follow the pack to the first set of checkpoints at the
statium area.  After hitting the first checkpoint, crash through the glass
doors on the right side of the building in front of you.  Hit the checkpoint
there, and then turn around to the right to hit the next checkpoint.

Head for the southern set of checkpoints next.  Take out the northwest
checkpoint, then hit the south checkpoint and the northeast checkpoint.  You
should be facing north now.  Remember that set of stairs you ran over for a
shortcut in Gina's races?  You're close to those stairs now.  Look on the left
side of the road for those stairs, and run over them to hit the next northbound
street over.  You're on your way to the north set of checkpoints.

Hit the two north checkpoints, then get the south checkpoint.  Go onto the
street where the finish line will be, and cross the bridge into the industrial
district.  Hit your nitrous here to speed things up.  Get two checkpoints going
west, then turn south to get the next checkpoint.  Cross the bridge quickly and
get to the finish before your competitors can.

Now that you've got Slipstream Turbo, it's time to put it to good use.  The car
you start behind travels a little slow at the start, so you can get right
behind him to fill up your SST meter quickly.  Zoom forward then courtesy of
SST.  That will give you a good start. The rest of the race isn't that complex.
 There's a couple of 90-degree turns, but nothing you haven't seen.

You can save a little time at the end of the race with the warehouse jump. 
After you cross over the canal on the bridge, look on the left side of the
intersection for the place where you started the last race.  Drive through that
area and you'll go over a ramp onto the roof of a warehouse.  Drive across the
roof to another ramp that will take you back down to the street and right to
the finish line.

This will be the most difficult race you've faced so far.  The course you're
going on is very long, so be careful not to bang your car up too much.  Getting
your car repaired after damaging out costs a lot of time.  However, the long
course can also be a benefit to you.  If you fall behind, you'll have a lot of
time to catch up.

After you head through the entertainment district, you'll be up against the
palm tree slalom.  Watch out for the other racers here, because they could
knock you off course and cause you to crash.  Once you've gone down a
straightaway some, you'll pull onto the wrong side of the freeway for the next
section of the race.  After a little bit, you will loop around the clover leaf
freeway overpasses for awhile here.  You'll also have to cross to the wrong
side of the road a few times here as well.   Make sure you take advantage of
this part, because Dice and his buddies don't corner too well on the loops.

The next major hazard is a jump from the freeway to the construction site
below.  After you go through the fourth loop, jump off the highway through the
hole in the wall on the left.  When you get to the stadium area, shortcut
between the buildings to pick up time.  The next thing to note is the alley
chase.  Once you're out of the stadium, the next checkpoint will lead you into
a set of alleys.  You'll also have to pass through some buildings as well. 
Take care not to lose control over the jumps.  Watch where the other racers go
for the best path here.

After going on the freeway again (this time on the right side of the road), use
your nitrous.  You'll then cut through the industrial sector and then you'll be
racing through the canal.  After you make the dam jump, hit the last checkpoint
and make a hard right under the bridge's arch.  You should be in a tunnel that
will lead you straight to the finish line.

After the start of the race, make a left turn at the second intersection with
the pack and fly over the stairs jump.  Make a right turn at the intersection
the jump should have aimed you at.  Follow this road all the way down to the
entertainment district, where the next checkpoint is at.  You should be passing
down the palm tree slalom road.  When you hit the checkpoint, go back down the
palm tree road again.

When you get to the end of the palm tree section of the road, make a left turn
onto the ridge road.  Hang right at the T-junction and tag the checkpoint
there.  Keep following the road.  When you get to the next intersection, turn
right.  Head towards the checkpoint on this street, and turn left when you get
to the checkpoint's road.  Cut through the stadium area next.

After driving through the inner city and the commercial district for awhile,
you'll be at the industrial sector.  Make sure to use the dam jump as a
shortcut over the canal.  When you hit the last checkpoint before the finish,
you should see a lot of glass doors on the right.  Crash through these glass
doors and head down the hallway in this building.  Now is a good time to use
your nitrous.  Keep going straight after you exit the hall to hit a ramp. 
You'll fly to the finish.

The race starts off with a quick drag.  Zoom forward, then when you're about to
hit the checkpoint, pull the handbrake and do a 180.  Do a burnout to get going
back the right way.  Be careful not to turn too slowly at the next checkpoint,
otherwise you'll go off into the grass and head off course.  When you get to
the long straightaway going past the Eiffel Tower, you might want to use a
nitro.  Be careful, because you're going against traffic.  Make a quick U-turn
at the roundabout ahead, and then look for an alley on the left side of the
street that is marked by the next checkpoint.

You'll go up onto a ramp.  DON'T use a nitrous here, because you'll probably do
more harm than good.  Also, don't jump directly at the checkpoint.  Aim for the
bridge below.  If you jump too far you might miss the bridge and land on the
island beneath it instead.  You'll probably lose the race trying to get back on
track again.  Even worse, you might fall in the water instead and instantly
lose.

When you tag the checkpoint after the jump, do a quick U-turn and head down the
bridge you landed on.  Follow the road to the finish line at the roundabout you
saw during this race.  If you decide to go under the arches in the middle of
the roundabout, be careful not to hit the walls.

Rooftop Vistas

The first part of the race isn't much of a big deal.  It's just a straight shot
down a wide street, and then a narrow two-lane road.  You might want to use
2-Wheel Driving to slip through the gaps in the cars.  I usually don't though. 
When you turn off the two-lane road and hit the second checkpoint, make a quick
left turn down an alley.  Drive down this alley and then up a ramp.  You'll
land in a back alley.

After you hit the checkpoint in the alley, keep heading straight, then turn
left onto the road.  Look on the right side of the road for a checkpoint
marking a ramp.  Drive up that ramp into a building, then make a quick right
turn into another passageway going the opposite direction.  Follow the alley to
the jump at the end.  When you land on the street, head right.

Follow the checkpoints back into the alley where you landed from that big jump.
 This time though, you're jumping in the opposite direction to other rooftops. 
When you're jumping over the roofs here, keep to the right.  That's where the
checkpoitns are.  After you land on the ground from the roofs, make a left turn
and follow the road going along the river.  When you tag the next checkpoint,
make a quick turn to the left into an alley.  You'll save some time going this
way.

For the next checkpoint after the alley, look on the right side of the road for
a big open lot.  You can either drive through this lot and into the alleys on
the northern corner of the lot for a shortcut, or you can stick to the main
road to save time.  I like the main road better, because it's possible to get
lost in the alleys and then lose.

When you do get to the next checkpoint, make a hard left into an alley, then
another hard left onto the next street.  Tag the next checkpoint and make yet
another hard right into a curving alley for yet another shortcut.  The next
alley to go to will be across the street from the end of the curving alley.

Wind through the narrow passageways and you'll find yourself back at the big
lot you might have passed through earlier.  Hit the checkpoint and go through
the alley it's in front of.  Stay close to the right wall so that you'll end up
going through a tunnel down to a road by the river.  If you miss the tunnel
though, you can crash through the guardrail on the upper street to fall down to
the lower street.  Race down the road, but slow down for when you go up a ramp
and turn onto a bridge.

For the last stretch of the race, look on the left side of the road for an
alley marked with a P.  Turn into the alley and head towards where the
checkpoint is.  At this part, you can either crash through the front doors of
the Notre Dame Cathedral and then crash out the back end to hit the finish, or
you can circle around the side of the building and get to the finish that way. 
Going through the cathedral's more dangerous, but circling around is slower. 
Consider circling around if you have a decent lead.

This course is another race where you can hit the points in any order.  The
points are arranged into a loop, so you can go around the loop either way.  I
would prefer going right at the start, since when you're driving this way  most
of the traffic will be heading in the same direction as you.  Also, you'll have
the benefit of being more lined up with the finish line at the end than if you
had gone left.  Just watch out for the road construction near the end (or the
start if you went left).  The dark-colored barricades are solid as rocks.

When you get close to the finish, you can hit the ramp in front of the alley,
or you can drive around it.  I usually hit the ramp, just for the thrills.  Be
careful you don't accidentally slam into a wall though!

The start of this race is pretty tricky.  You've got all seven racers (counting
you) on a very narrow road, followed up by two hard turns.  You need to get
away from the pack at the start, or you might find yourself getting slammed
into the walls.  Try for an Slip-stream Turbo, but don't go so fast that you
miss the turn!  After you take the first two turns, head onto the ramp into the
building on the right side of the road.  It's the building that Blog's second
race went through.  Instead of making a hard right though, follow the glass
wall on the left to a different ramp.

You'll land into an alley that will take you to the road that you need to get
to for the next checkpoint.  Make a quick right at the end of the alley, and
then turn left to get into the next street across the road.  Tag the checkpoint
there, and then head right into yet another alley.  At the end of this alley,
jump down onto the freeway while heading left.  Make another left after you hit
that checkpoint into a gas station.  Go up the ramp on the right side to get
back up into the alley again.

When you reach the end of the alley, you will be facing a giant hill.  Use a
nitrous here to get serious air.  Make sure you aim a little to the right of
the checkpoint, so that you don't crash into the building blocking it.  When
you tag the checkpoint here, you'll be facing two streets that go down.  Take
the right one, since it will get you lined up better to hit the finish.  After
you thunder down the hill, drive down the broad road across the street.  When
you head under the arches and reach a roundabout, look on the right side of the
street for a ramp.  It's aimed at a big glass window.

Fly over this ramp and through the window.  When you crash out the next glass
window at the end of the building, you will be at the finish.

This race is similar to Julie's first race.  You can hit the checkpoints in any
order, and the checkpoints are arranged into one giant loop going up and down
the sides of the Seine River.  You can go either clockwise or counter-clockwise
around the loop to get all the checkpoints.  At the start of the race, watch
out for when Primo and his friends go through the arch.  They tend to crash
their cars and veer all over the place in random directions.  When you get to
the third checkpoint on this road, it's time to split up.

I would head right and go around the checkpoints clockwise.  When you need to
get checkpoints near ramps, more of the ramps will be facing the correct
direction for you to jump over them.  If you go left and head
counter-clockwise, you will have to waste time going aroudn ramps rather than
going over them.  Also, you'll end up farther away from the finish line than if
you had gone clockwise through the checkpoints.

Be careful while going around the course in either direction, because you're on
a narrow road with oncoming traffic as well as traffic heading the same
direction as you.  It's easy to have a bad crash on this sort of road.

This race in my opinion is kind of easy, since you're on straight, broad roads
for most of the track.  Unfortunately, this kind of track favors Primo's
Scheller V8, which is tuned for top speed.  Make sure not to crash much, or
you'll have a hard time catching Primo with his stellar speed.  Fortunately,
there's a great shortcut right at the start of the race that can get you a good
lead.

Before the countdown begins, do a burnout and spin your car around so that it's
facing the alley in the back right corner of the lot you're starting in.  Drive
down the alleys and hit the checkpoint.  Turn right from the checkpoint onto
the road.  This road will lead you to the freeway.

Turn onto the correct side of the road, either by crashing through the overpass
railing or taking the onramp.  In a little bit, cross over to the wrong side of
the road and head into the gas station for the next checkpoint.  After you've
hit the checkpoint, go through the station (while being careful not to hit a
gas pump) and get on the correct side of the road again.  Get ready to zig zag
beneath tunnel columns in a minute.  Be careful here, because it's easy to miss
a turn or accidentally hit a column.

Get off the freeway at the next offramp, and make a left turn into the city. 
Follow the string of checkpoints back to the freeway again.  Watch out when you
make the jump back onto the freeway, because you have to land near the gas
station.  It's easy to accidentally hit a wall and crash.  Fly through the gas
station, and drive on the wrong side of the road.  Get off the highway again at
the next overpass.

You're almost to the last part of the race.  You should be on the street
heading for the Arc de Triumph right now.  Turn onto a small street on the
right side of the road.  At the next intersection, drive into a building's
entrance to the right of the street you are on.  Drive down the hall here, and
you'll hit a ramp that will send you over the Seine.  I would avoid using a
nitro here.  There's another ramp coming up.  If you go too fast, you could
overshoot the next ramp and not have enough air to land near the Eiffel Tower. 
Anyway, hit the next ramp and land at the finish line if you didn't use a
nitro.

In this race, you have to go to several roundabouts around the city and hit all
the checkpoints at each of them.  This is a rough diagram of where all the
roundabouts are.  I've also numbered them to show what order I like to visit

You'll be able to hit all the checkpoints efficiently, and the last roundabout
you hit before the finish will be the one closest to the finish.  This race is

This race is in the rain, so handling could be tricky.  However, you'll be in
tunnels for a good part of the race, so it won't be an issue there.  Anyway,
after the start, use a Slip-stream Turbo or a nitro to motor up the hill.  At
the next checkpoint, make a quick left turn onto a street going down.  Be
careful here, because the uneven road could throw you off course.

Drive down this road, and watch out for the police roadblock you'll encounter. 
Turn into the alley on the right side of the road after the roadblock.  It's
marked with a checkpoint.  Get ready to make another right turn at the next
checkpoint into the catacombs.  When you reach a large chamber at the end of
the catacombs tunnel, make a right turn into another tunnel.  At the next room,
make a quick right turn.

When you exit the catacombs, keep going straight and hit the glass pyramid to
jump over a building to the next checkpoint.  Just down the road, look for your
next checkpoint marking a tunnel on the left.  Be careful entering the tunnel,
because it can be easy to flip over when you're going down.  Drive down the
tunnel, and go into the alley across the street from the tunnel's exit.  Pass
through another police roadblock, and turn left when you can.

Go back into the tunnel on the right side of the road when you see it again.  
Hang a right at the first fork in the tunnel, then go left at the second fork
in the tunnel.  When you exit the tunnel, go into the alley across the street
from the exit.  From here, follow the trail of checkpoints up the hilly streets
again.  Jump down from the east side of the hill to get to the alley to the
freeway.  Hit the finish line at the freeway.

In the first straightaway of this course, you'll have go go down the broad
avenue towards the ferris wheel.  You will then have to drive through a small
gap underneath the ferris wheel while the cars go past to stop you.  In this
first part, you should either get ahead of most of the pack before you get to
the ferris wheel, or you should hang back and let them all crash before you try
to get through.

Once you're through, you'll need to navigate the hedge maze to get to the first
checkpoint.  Most of the people will take the first entrance on the right, but
I like the second one on the right.  When you get to the circular hedge, make a
quick left to hit the checkpoint.

Next, you need to move over two streets to the north for the next checkpoint. 
You can hop through one of the glass windows near the glass pyramid to move up
a street, but I'd prefer to just leave through the northern gates of this area
and go up two streets there.  It'll keep your top speed up more.

Next, you need to turn through some small streets to another checkpoint.  Some
people take the curving alley that leads right up to the checkpoint, but that
way tends to get crowded and confusing.  I would rather wait until you get to
the next alley, since it's less confusing and you can keep your speed up more.

At the end of the next checkpoint's road, go through an alley and take the next
road to the riverside road.  Get the checkpoint there.  The next checkpoint is
inside the plaza with the glass pyramid.  Don't drive in there on a road
however.  After you hit the checkpoint, you should see a glass window you can
jump through to get into the plaza quickly.  Go through that.

Grab the checkpoint in the hedgemaze, then go under the ferris wheel and onto
the broad road leading to the Arc de Triumph.  Zoom under that for the
checkpoint, then take a street to the right to the next checkpoint.  Drive up
the road and then through a gap between two buildings.  Head across the grass
onto the road near the Seine River.

Head down onto the lower road right next to the river, and follow it.  You
should see the finish line checkpoint on your map after you hit the checkpoint
down here.  To get off this road, wait until you see an off-ramp going up to
the streets level.  Take it easy while you're turning out of the off-ramp,
because it's easy to go through the railing and back down again to the lower
road.  Hit the checkpoint in the plaza, then use the glass pyramid in the plaza
to reach the finish line.

Few and Far Between

In this race, you'll be facing off with bikers as well as Ian in his Fripon X. 
Like in the last bike race, if you happen to get next to a biker, be evil and
run them off their bikes if you have a chance.  Also, most of this course is
very long and straight, so it would be a good idea to have a car that has high
top speed, like the Schneller V8.  Most of the race, you will be going against
traffic, so be careful not to crash.  Fortunately, a lot of the roads you drive
against traffic on have small sidewalk dividers between lanes.  Drive on those
to avoid the traffic.

Anyway, after the race begins, follow Ian and his buddies to the first bridge,
and then onto a road on the other side of the Seine River where you'll be going
against traffic.  Pull onto the divider on the left to avoid the cars.

There's also a shortcut at the start.  You can also shortcut through a window
at the first turn and jump into the plaza near the glass pyramid.  From there,
you can go left on the road you should see in front of you and leave the plaza
through the gates.  Drive across the bridge there, and then hang a right onto
the riverside road on the other side of the Seine River.

Go under the Eiffel Tower with Ian, and then pull onto the road to the south of
the tower.  You'll be going against traffic, so pull onto the road divider on
the left to avoid the traffic.  Head down the road, and drive through the
arches on the upcoming roundabout to save a few seconds.  When you reach
another bridge, hang a right before you cross it.  Make a left turn and go into
the small park on the right to hit the checkpoint.

After you hit that checkpoint, look for a small road running down the middle of
this island on your map.  You should see it close by.  Pull onto that road 
When you get to the end of the road, keep going through the alleys at the end
of it.  If you follow the alleys to the tip of the island, you'll be able to go
over a jump to leap on a barge in the river.  From the barge, you can jump to
the gates of the plaza on the other side of the river.

Cut through the plaza and hit the checkpoint at the roundabout to the north. 
After you hit it, go straight south down the larger road, and then turn left
when you get to another big road.  Follow this broad street all the way to the
next checkpoint.  From that checkpoint, hang a quick right.  Go down this road
till you get to a roundabout.  From there, take the larger street on the right.
 Follow this street until you get to an area of alleyways where you'll find the
finish.

Like Ian's last race, much of this course is very straight and has gentle
curves.  However, there's an extremely large amount of traffic.  So,
acceleration can help on this course just about as much as top speed,
considering you'll probably be crashing quite a bit.  Remember to drive on the
dividers on the roads and you won't have to deal with a lot of traffic.

Also, when you hit the highway, remember that you'll have to turn onto the
other side of the road whenever you're in a tunnel.  You only have to turn
through the columns once per tunnel, so don't turn back again once you hit the
checkpoint on the other side.  Also, when you go through the gas station on the
right side of the highway, be careful not to hit a gas pump.  Also, don't turn
onto the streets again.  You're supposed to just slip through the gas station
and back on the highway again.

Finding the finish line at the end can be sort of confusing.  After you hit the
last checkpoint, drive down either side of the block that the finish line is
inside.  Look for the "P" signs on the buildings.  These signs point out the
tunnels leading to the underground garage where the checkpoint is.

This race is mostly in the catacombs, so you should get a car that has good
handling rather than speed.  Also, you can expect to crash a lot into pipes and
stuff underground, so you need good acceleration too.  Make sure to follow
Farid a few times through the catacombs at first, because you could take the
wrong turn in the catacombs and get lost.

After you make it to the end of the first tunnel, you should hit a checkpoint. 
Make a quick right from that checkpoint to find the next tunnel you need to go
into.  When you reach a big chamber when you're part of the way through this
tunnel, look for the catacomb tunnel you need to take on the right.  Quickly
turn left when you hit the end of this tunnel.

Once you're out of the tunnel, head for the plaza with the glass pyramid.  The
checkpoint is there.  The next tunnel to go to is just to the right of that
checkpoint.  When you're out of the tunnel, drive along the right side of this
island.  There's little traffic when you cut through the park on that side.

Once you have hit that checkpoint, head down the road going along the middle of
this island.  Head through the alley at the end of the road, and curve to the
right with the alley.  You should come to a jump that shoots you on top of a
barge in the river.  Jump from the barge to the gates of the plaza on the other

Before you can start the next race with Farid, the cops that are hunting for
him finally find him.  You need to lose the cops and get to the finish line,
like how you did in Hector's first race in L.A.  However, I think losing the
cops this time is much easier, since Paris is packed with small alleys and
tunels you can go through to lose the police.  If a cop sees you, duck down
some alleys and the cop will give up quick enough.

If you don't want to go on the streets though, the catacombs will take you most
of the way to the finish.  Turn around at the start and head down the tunnel
behind you.  When you get to a big chamber, make a quick right turn down
another tunnel.  Follow this until you reach another big room.  Keep to the
right, and you'll come to the next tunnel you need to go to.

You should be next to the glass pyramid once you get to the end of that tunnel.
 Make a quick left turn to find the next tunnel to go through.  Keep going
straight down this tunnel until you get to the end.  You should be close to the
finish line by now.  Turn into the park near the finish, and hit your nitros
there to quickly rush to the end.

Farid's double-crossed you by giving you his car.  Now you've got Inspector
Owen after you, because he wants what's inside the car!  Oddly though...he
doesn't want to arrest you, he wants to race you for what's in the car... 
Strange...

Anyway, this race is mostly on the freeway, so top speed is fairly important. 
There's a short segment of alleyways near the end, though, but it won't last
long.  Owen's driving a Victory that steers pretty bad anyway, so you can
probably keep your lead there even if your car handles poorly.

At the start of the race, go up the steps and turn onto the road going right
with Owen.  After hitting that checkpoint, go down the street to the right and
then turn right when you get to the next street.  Cut through the park, on the
right up ahead, but watch out for the rocks.  Hang a left at the end of the
park, and go down the hilly streets.  Head right from the roundabout, then turn
left onto the wrong side of the freeway when you get to it.  Cut through the
columns when you hit to the tunnel.

Pull a 180 when you hit the checkpoint near the gas station, and motor up the
ramp to the surface streets again.  Keep turning right at the junctions on
these roads till you get to the freeway again.  Get ready for more of driving
on the wrong side of the freeway, as well as cutting through columns in the
tunnels.

After you exit the freeway, go through the set of alley checkpoints to reach
the finish line.  Take it easy here, because it's easy to hit the wrong alley
and end up getting lost while Owen speeds to the finish.  You could have to
play this part a couple of times before you get used to it.  After you exit the
alleys, head for the finish.

Obviously, this is going to be a pretty tough race, since you're up against the
Paris champ.  This race has a lot of jumps and long straightaways, so a car
with a good top speed is helpful.  Acceleration is also nice to have.  Handling
isn't much of a concern most of the time in this course.

After you accelerate away from the start, be careful.  Parfait's henchmen tend
to get pretty rough here, as they'll try to sideswipe you off course.  While
you could stick to the road after the first checkpoint, there's a good shortcut
just past it.  After you hit the first checkpoint, turn onto the street you see
on the right, and go into an alley.  Make a left turn through a gate, and then
another left turn onto a ramp that will shoot you back onto the course.

After you hit the checkpoint at the Notre Dame Cathedral, make a left turn onto
the street nearby, and head through the alley at the end of the road.  You'll
go over a ramp onto a river barge, and then from the barge you'll jump to a
tunnel on the lower riverside road.  Don't use a nitro here, because it's easy
to go off course, or go too fast and hit the top of the tunnel.

Once you're through the tunnel and hit the next checkpoint, you can either go
over the red ramp on the right, or you can stick to the road on the left.  In
my opinion taking the road is faster.  You will have a simpler course to the
next checkpoint, and you won't have to motor up as many steep inclines.  To get
to the next checkpoint on the street route, follow the street to the
roundabout, then cut to the left side of the monument in the middle and back to
the right again for the next part of the street.  Follow the road to its end
where it T's, then turn right and motor up the hill to the checkpoint.

Blast down the hill to the east after you tag that checkpoint, and hit the
street in the southeast corner of the park area.  Turn left when you get to the
end of that road.

You COULD stick to the road for the next checkpoint, but there's a much faster
way.  At the end of the road after leaving the park area, you should see an
alley on the right.  Go through this alley and follow it onto a ramp.  Jump
through the checkpoint and into a wire tunnel with a red floor.  Go through
this tunnel, and then jump from the next roof near to where the Notre Dame
Cathedral is.  Don't use a nitro on the ramp, or you could end up smacking
right into the side of the cathedral.

When you hit the ground, turn right at the cathedral.  Make a quick curve into
the park on the left to nab the checkpoint as you pass by it.  Keep going
straight on this road and hit the alley.  You should remember this jump from
Farid's first race.  Follow the alley to a ramp that shoots you onto a river
barge, which in turn shoots you at the gates of the plaza area.  Cross through
the plaza and climb up the hilly streets to the next checkpoint.  Burn through
the park till you get to it's north end, then turn right.  Head east on the
streets.  Jump down the hills to the east and go through the street on that
side of the park to hit the finish line.

This race is mostly made up of long, straight, broad streets with a couple of
curves.  Top speed is very important in this race.  There's also a lot of cars
about, so you need to be careful not to have a wreck and be forced to get up to
speed again while the pack gets further ahead.  Remember that if the street
you're driving on has a brick divider between lanes, drive on it to avoid most
of the traffic.

After the race begins, you should try for a Slip-stream Turbo here.  The alley
is narrow, so the cars will be lined up and easy prey for building up your
meter.  After you exit the alley and curve to the left for a tunnel, watch out
for the rocks.  It's hard to see them until you're about to hit them, and by
then it will probably be too late.  Try turning wide rather than cutting a
short corner like the other cars to dodge the rock.  This will also give you
the benefit of lining up with the tunnel you need to go through.

After you exit the tunnel and make a fast right onto a broad road, get ready to
build up your top speed quickly.  Try to quickly get another Slip-stream Turbo
here before the other cars rocket off with their nitros.  If you can't do that,
you may have to sacrifice a nitro early on here to keep up.  Try hard not to
wreck either.  Crashes can be pretty horrific at speeds like this.

When you get to the roundabout around the Arc de Triumph, it's faster to loop
around on either side of it rather than go through it.  Be prepared to dodge it
when you get close to it, because it tends to emerge from the fog quite
suddenly.  Also, when you motor up the hill and turn southeast at a park, you
can cut through the grass on the left for a shortcut.  Watch out for those
trees though.

You should be going against traffic when you get to the Eiffel Tower, so get on
the divider to avoid the cars.  Also, go through the arch at the next
roundabout like you have before, so you can save some time.

The next difficult part is the two lane road when you go past the Notre Dame
Cathedral.  Speed isn't your friend here.  If you go too fast, a crash is
likely.  The results could be pretty bad on this narrow road.  Also, get ready
to do a quick turnaround at the next roundabout.  Watch out for competitor cars
that are lagging behind on the way back.

Go back towards the riverside road, and hop down to the lower level where the
checkpoint points it out for you.  Head down this road some, then get back up
to the streets level, and follow the checkpoints to the road tunnel system. 
When in these tunnels, head right at the first junction, then left at the
second junction.

After you exit the tunnel, you should hit a checkpoint soon, and then you'll
see the next checkpoint is in the plaza.  There should be a glass window on
your right when you hit the checkpoint before the plaza checkpoint.  Jump
through that window to save time.  Cut through the gardens where the plaza
checkpoint is, then turn to the right to hit the path going under the ferris
wheel.

Motor down the road towards the Arc de Triumph, then turn left from the Arc to
the last checkpoint and the finish line.

At the start of the race, turn right, and then make a fast left around the
corner.  Head down this road, but watch out for the cars coming the other way. 
After you pass the triangle-shaped roads on your map, make a left turn.  You'll
now be going down a long, narrow street.

When you get to Shibuya at the end (the area with all the walkways
crisscrossing around), turn right onto one of those walkways.  Go down the
bridge until you get to the end of it.  At the end of the bridge, hit the
checkpoint and turn to the left.  Get ready to turn left at the next
intersection ahead, but watch out for the pole behind the highway onramp.  It's
easy to hit it while you make the turn, since you can't see it till it's too
late.

After the next curve back towards Shibuya, get ready for another run over the
area on another pedestrian bridge.  After you get off the bridge, head right. 
At the next turn, go through a gas station on the left for a small shortcut. 
Turn right when you see the "club" sign on the right.  Hit that checkpoint,
then pull a hard left.  You could stick to the street here, but go through the
alley at the end of this road instead, and make a hard left at the next street.

When you get back to Shibuya, again go onto another pedestrian bridge.  This
time it's on the left.  If you stick to the road, you'll have to go through a
blockade of buses.  Hang a hard left into a building when you hit the next
checkpoint after the bus roadblock.  Go through the buildings and hit the next
checkpoint at the circle drive.

You should see the last two checkpoints on your radar now.  You'll have to
cross over several streets to get to it.  Try turning left at the first street
marked green on your radar.  When you get to Shibuya, turn left onto a bridge,
then make another left turn onto a fork of the bridge.  You can cross the whole
plaza easily this way.  Hit the checkpoint at the other end of the bridge.

Turn right and motor through the upcoming tunnel.  After the tunnel, you should
see two streets nearby that go north towards the finish.  The first street will
take you right to the finish line's street.  However, you can cut through a gas
station at the second street, and go through an alley at the end of that road
that will drop you off right at the finish.

Ricky's Revenge

Ricky will cheat at the start of the race by zooming ahead before the countdown
is over.  Ram through the glass windows on the left just after the start for a
quick shortcut.  After you hit the first checkpoint, turn left onto the street
after it.  Look on the right for an alley.  Drive through this alley and you'll
go over a ramp.  After flying over a fountain, you'll be at the next
checkpoint.

When you hit the next checkpoint around the right corner, pull a 180 and get
back to the Tokyo perimeter road.  Go down this road to hit the next two
checkpoints.  You can also do a quick 90 degree right turn at that checkpoint
too.  If you do that, look for an alley to the right of a ramp on that side of
the road.  Go through this alley and over a ramp.  You'll be flying over the
foutain again.  When you land, you'll be on the perimeter road just like with
the first method.  Hit the next two checkpoints.

After you hit those two checkpoints, you should be in Shibuya.  Pull onto the
pavement on the right side of the road.  You should see the backsides of two
bridges side by side at the end of this pavement.  Drive between them, and then
hit the alley past them.  Keep going down the alleys until you get to the end
of them, and you should be aimed at the next checkpoint.

Drive back to the perimeter street to hit the next checkpoint, and then use one
of the bridges when you get to Shibuya to cross over it easily.  Hit the finish
line on the other side of Shibuya.

This race is kinda easy once you know the right route.  At the start, motor
down the bridge you see on the right.  Turn to the left at the end of the
bridge.  Do you see the purple line on your map?  That represents the aeriel
train tracks.  Turn right into the alley next to the train tracks.  After you
hit that checkpoint, go up the ramp and onto the train tracks yourself.  Drive
all the way to the other end of the line to reach the next checkpoint.  Watch
out for the trains and be careful not to fall off!  After you hit the
checkpoint, just drive straight ahead to hit the finish line.

Ichiro's Challenge

This race is also somewhat easy (at least when compared to other Tokyo races),
since you are only facing off against one car instead of a whole pack of cars
that can sideswipe you all over the place.  Also, for some reason, Ichiro tends
to slow down a lot once you get in the lead.  It's mostly because of the
ridiculous amount of police cars in this race.

After the first couple turns, you should be on a long straight road. 
Unfortunately, there's a lot of cars here.  Buses are especially running
rampant.  Drive on the right side of the road to dodge the buses crossing at
two of the intersections from the left.  After you hit the checkpoint at the
end of the straight section of track, make a left turn across the empty
pavement on the left side of the road.  Head to the right when the road you're
on curves sharply left, and then make a right turn to get back on track for the
next checkpoint.

After you tag that checkpoint and another checkpoint away from the riverside,
you may notice the next checkpoint has a white ring on it.  This shows that
it's on a highway bridge.  Follow the road to where it intersects with the
street the checkpoint is on before you turn left.  If you try to "shortcut" by
not following the curve of the road before the highway bridge, you'll only end
up slamming into the side of the highway bridge.  Once you've got the
checkpoint on the bridge, crash through the left railing onto the street below
that has the next checkpoint.

Continue to follow the checkpoints, and eventually you should come to the city
park.  When you hit the last checkpoint before the finish, look on the right
for a big rock in the grass.  You can use this rock as a ramp to jump to the
finish line quickly.

The Real Deal

Make sure you save two nitros for later in the race, because there are two huge
jumps in this race that you'll most likely need some extra speed on.

At the start of the race, you'll be driving along the canals in the city park. 
Some of the checkpoints are on the canal walls, and on the streets as well, so
be careful when going over the lip of the canal walls or you could crash. 
Also, try to hit the checkpoints in the lighted column in this part.  They tend
to be a bit sensitive, unlike other checkpoints where you could just race
through the glow at the bottom of them to hit them.

The next part of the race isn't that complicated.  You are just zig zagging
across the city's bridges along one of its canals.  Watch out for the heavy
traffic and the police though.

When you hit a checkpoint under a highway bridge, you should see an alley on
the left.  Turn into this alley, and follow it until you come to the street
where the next checkpoint is.  The next checkpoint after that one is on the
elevated train tracks, so go towards the pink line on your map, and get ready
to drive up one of the ramps at the train platform to get on the tracks.

Hop off the tracks to the left for another checkpoint, and then hit your nitro
as you continue going straight.  You should be heading right for a ramp that
will launch you across one of the canals.  It's a big jump, so the extra speed
is most likely going to be necessary.

When you spot the finish line on your map, you could just take the bridge over
to its island, but there's a faster way to get there.  When you hit the last
checkpoint before the finish, go east along the street it was on.  You should
go into a cargo yard.  However, keep going straight.  You should see a set of
buildings on your left.  Turn left past these buildings.  In front of you,
there's going to be a big warehouse.  You should see a door there.  Go through
this door, and then out the other door at the other end of it.  Hit your nitro
here to rocket across the second jump to the finish.

HALEY

This is one of the toughest races in the whole game, kind of like Nikko's first
race.  While Nikko's was tough because of the rain, this one is tough because
there's no linear path, and your opponents always seem to know the fastest way
to clear all the points.  Don't worry though, because I have a walkthrough for
this level that will get you through fast.  You'll need to move really quickly
though and not crash, or you'll definitely get beat to the finish line.

At the start of the race, you'll be headed towards the Eiffel Tower-like tower.
 There's a ring of checkpoints around it you need to hit.  Turn to the left
when you get to the tower's block, and hit the checkpoints counter-clockwise. 
Drive on the grass around the bases of the tower to save time.

Once you hit the last checkpoint, you should be facing the road you used  come
into this area.  Make one more turn to the left, and then head straight down
that road.  Turn left at the first street that lets you go left.  Rocket down
this road with a nitro to the second loop of checkpoints.  You may notice one
is on top of the train platform up above.  Save that checkpoint for last
though.

Hit the first checkpoint in the loop while going straight.  You should be
driving next to a block that has a perimeter fence.  Igonre the checkpoint
overhead on the train platform and turn right at the end of the fence.  Make
another right turn at the next intersection, and then drive through the gate in
the fence on the right.  Hit the checkpoint in the grass.  Make another right
turn, and go through the gate you can see straight ahead.  Make another right
turn after you go through the gate.  Head up the train station steps on the
right to hit the last checkpoint in this loop, and rocket down the road
straight ahead to reach the next loop of checkpoints.

In this loop, you'll drive over the first checkpoint (which is in an
underground tunnel).  Turn right at the second checkpoint, and then right again
at the third checkpoint.  You're now in the residential area of Tokyo.   This
area is confusing, but if you keep turning left you should come to the tunnel
where the last checkpoint in this loop is.

After you leave this tunnel, make a turn onto the first street on the right. 
Use you last nitro here.  Drive all the way to the end of this road, and then
turn left.  Turn left again when you pass the highway offramp on your left.  Go
up it, and down the highway for the next two checkpoints.  When you hit the
second checkpoint, do a quick 180 and head down the highway onramp on the
right.  Hit the last checkpoint at the bottom, then turn left for the finish.

After you zoom away from the starting line and go right, head onto the highway
onramp on the left.  Get ready to get off again though, because you'll need to
head down onto the offramp immediately after boarding the highway.  Race down
the street and hit the checkpoint on the park on the right side of the road. 
Swerve back to the left as fast as you can to stay on the Tokyo perimeter
street.  When you hit the checkpoint after this road's wide curve, make a right
turn onto the second street on the right.

Go down the bridge this road leads to, but watch out for the car wreck on the
right side of the bridge.  When you hit the next checkpoint, immediately turn
right underneath an arch and into an old-style marketplace.  When you reach the
end of the row of stalls, make a left turn.  If you follow the left wall of
this park, you'll find the next checkpoint.  Zoom donw the alleys, but get
ready for a sudden quick turn to the left midway down.

After hitting the checkpoint, turn left when you get to the stadium, and you
should see the next checkpoint in the distance.  Stay on the right though, or
otherwise you'll fall off a ledge above a tunnel when you get back on the road
again.  When you hit the next checkpoint and go right, get on the sidewalk. 
There's a large amount of traffic coming in the opposite direction on the road.

After tagging the next checkpoint, make a sharp right again.  There will be no
road here, but if you follow the highway bridge you'll get back to the streets
again.  Just be careful not to slam into the back of the highway boarding ramp
when it ends.  Hit the next checkpoint on the pavement away from the road, and
follow this little alley here to the east.  When you see a gap in the meridian
on the right, turn through it.  Head down the alleys to the next checkpoint.

Pull a quick 90 degree turn to the right after you tag that checkpoint, and
race through the stadium area to reach the next checkpoint at a highway
offramp.  Drive up the offramp and onto the highway once again.  Go down the
highway in the wrong direction, but get ready to head down an onramp on the
left.  Hit the last two checkpoints in the marketplace park to win.

NIKKO

This is one of the toughest races you'll face in the whole game.  The streets
are slick because of the rain, there's a lot of crazy curves, and Nikko's
Knight is perfect for this sort of race.  It can take on the wet streets
easily, and it also has enough speed for the long straightaways at the end. 
So, if you get a car that can corner well, you'll be struggling to keep up in
the second half of the race.  If you get a car that has the speed, you'll have
hard time keeping up at the start.

I think that the best strategy for this course is to build up a good lead at
the start with a great handling car, while not using its nitros right away.  In
the later half of the race, you can use up your nitros on the straightaways to
keep your lead.  Do save one for the end of the course though if you try this
strategy, because there's a big jump at the end that will need some extra
speed.

Anyway, I'll start the course walkthrough.  Burn out your tires and drive
forward through the gates.  You can try for a quick Slip-stream Turbo here to
get the lead, but get ready for a sharp turn up ahead.  Turn onto the train
tracks on the left when you get to them.  Roll down the tracks while avoiding
the trains.  When you get near the Wharf island, jump down to the left to hit
the next checkpoint.

When you tag that checkpoint, make a sharp turn to the right and go through the
cargo containers to hit the next checkpoint.  The other racers tend to make a
wide turn at the first checkpoint on the island, but in my opinion that's
slower than just turning around right at the checkpoint.  Watch out for the
cops after you hit the second island checkpoint.

Hit the next two checkpoints on the perimeter road of this island.  Follow the
train tracks going to the right to the next checkpoint, then make a sharp left
turn to cross the island again for the next checkpoint.  When you've hit
another checkpoint on the perimeter road, cross the island diagonally again to
hit another checkpoint near the bridge off the island.

Leave the wharf island via that bridge, and drive on the sidewalk to avoid the
traffic.  Turn to the left at the end of the bridge, then turn right when you
pass the train station into an alley next to it.  You are now on the Tokyo
perimeter road.  Head donw this road while dodging pillars and traffic to hit
the checkpoints.

At the end of the perimeter road when you get to the turn, you'll need to turn
into an alley on the left side of the road.  It gets a lot skinnier on the
right side when you go through it, so make sure to keep close to the left wall
or you'll hit the wall on the right when it slims down.

After you leave that alley, you'll hit the part of the course with the
straightaways.  After you make the first curve in the straightaways and are
heading along the side of the canal, start hitting your nitros, but make sure
to save one for later.

When you hit the last checkpoint at the canal road, you should see the last
checkpoint and the finish line on your radar.  Drive down the road going past
the south side of the checkpoint.  Look on the right side of the road for an
alley marked with orange light.  You should see a garage door there.  If you
can't find it, one of the other drivers should show it to you.  Anyway, go
through that alley on the right, and hit the checkpoint.

After hitting the last checkpoint before the finish, immediately turn right. 
You should see a medieval Japanese building up ahead.  Drive on the left side
of that, and then hit the alley past that building.  Use your last nitro here
to rocket over the jump at the end of the alley.  You'll fly towards the finish
line.

Savant of Speed

This race is mostly made up of long straightaways and some gentle curves, so
top speed is important here.  There are also some nasty curves, but there
aren't too many of those to warrant the need for good cornering.  There's a
time limit to get between each checkpoint, but it's not unbearable.  You can
have a nasty crash or two and still keep up.

Anyway, after you turn to the left away from the dock at the start, you'll turn
right onto a Tokyo perimeter street.  You'll now race all the way to the other
end of Tokyo on this road.  You'll then have to get on a highway offramp to the
right.  Watch out for oncoming cars on this road.  Right after getting on the
highway, you'll have to get off again on an onramp on the right.

Be careful when heading down this onramp, because there's a small hop in the
middle of the ramp, and it's easy to flip over because of that.  The best way
to pass through this turn is to slow down a bit and grind along the left wall.

Once you're down, race down the perimeter street the other way.  After you go
through the wide left turn on this road, make a sharp left onto the road
running next to the canal.  Turn onto the street on the left that has another
highway onramp.  Head up the onramp, and then get ready to go down an offramp
immediately after getting on the highway.  Once you're down on the street, head
for the left side of the street and turn onto the lane leading onto the bridge
to the wharf.

Head left from the bridge and go onto the highway on another onramp on the
right.  Make a sharp left turn and rocket down the highway.  Look for an
offramp on the left.  Go down that offramp, and then make a sharp right turn
into an alley across the street.  Watch out for the big truck that turns into
this alleyway.

At the end of the alley, hang a left onto the perimeter road again.  After the
next checkpoint, you need to make a left turn into an alley running alongside
the canal road.  When you need to hit a checkpoint and the highway onramp gets
in your way, you don't have to drive around it.  There's a small ramp that will
send you over it.  Just be careful not to crash if you use the ramp.  At the
end of the alleyways, you need to make a sharp right for the finish.

Zen is kinda easy to beat, since he and his buddies keep crashing into stuff
and falling off their bikes.  You can also easily stop them for awhile by
sideswiping them when they get next to your car.  I actually beat this race on
the second try, which was totally unexpected since I was so late in the game.

To start the race, zoom through the marketplace park and down the road. 
Sideswipe any bikers who get beside you.  When you reach the end of the road,
make two right turns to get on the street running alongside the palace's
canals.  Stay to the right to hit a checkpoint in a tunnel, while you're on
this road.

Turn off the road to the right when you see the checkpoint in the distance. 
From that checkpoint, head right again.  After you tag the next checkpoint,
follow the elevated train tracks until you come to an area with a pink building
on the left.  Turn through an gap between the buildings on the right here, and
head down the street beyond to the next checkpoint.  Drive towards the canal
road to hit the last few checkpoints, then drive into a warehouse on the right
side of the road for the finish line.

Karma Rising

This race mostly takes place on the highways, so top speed is important. 
You'll be going against traffic most of the time, so beware of that too.  I had
an easy time with this race though, because again Zen and his buddies kept
falling off their bikes.  Make sure to save one nitro for the end of the race
though, because you may need to make a big canal jump for a shortcut.

Anyway, zoom out of the warehouse with the other racers at the start to hit the
first checkpoint.  Turn left under the train tracks and follow them.  Go up one
of the staircases you see down here to hit the next checkpoint.  If you can,
try to stay on the tracks.  They'll take you right to the next checkpoint.  If
you fall though, that's okay.  Just follow the tracks on the ground instead.

Follow the trail of checkpoints to the highway.  Get on the highway via an
offramp in a park after you leave the residential area.  Race down the highway
in the wrong direction, and then turn right onto a ramp onto another section of
the highway when you need to.  When you get through the tunnel, go through the
gap in the railing on the left to get on the correct side of the highway.

Follow the highway till you get to an offramp on the left.  Get ready to drop
down to a pedestrain bridge below in Shibuya when the road suddenly ends! 
Follow the bridge out of Shibuya, and you'll be on a perimeter street.  Get
back on the highway again on the onramp marked with the next checkpoint.

Stay on the wrong side of the road while racing across the suspension bridge. 
Go down the onramp on the right that's marked by the checkpoint.  When you hit
the checkpoint at the wharf, turn to the left towards the ramp that will shoot
you over the canal.  You'll probably need a nitro here to make it.  If you
don't have a nitro, I advise using the bridge instead.  Go down to the circle
drive to hit the finish line.

KEN'ICHI

After the start, zoom away with the other cars, but don't follow them to the
right when they make the first turn.  Turn right when you get to the next
street instead, because you'll be able to maintain your top speed better if you
only make one turn to hit the checkpoint.  Make sure you stick to the right
side of the road here to hit the checkpoint.

Get in the middle of the road quickly after the checkpoint, because you're
heading for a tunnel that makes the street get narrow pretty suddenly.  After
you're out of the tunnel, make a left turn onto the highway bridge.  Hit the
checkpoint up here.  You should see a checkpoint one street ahead of you on
your map.  Crash through the railing on the right when you get to the
checkpoint's street.  Be careful not to slam into the side of the building on
the left side of the lower street.

Make a left turn after hitting the next checkpoint.  The race is going to start
to get a little confusing here.  The next checkpoint is in the alleyways in the
residential area, but there's no clear path to get there on your map.  I'll
give you a route though.  When you get to the fork up ahead, go left.  Look on
the right side of the street for an alley.  You'll see it after you pass the
yellow dotted line on your map.

Follow this alley to the next checkpoint, and to the marketplace park.  Turn to
the right once you get there to avoid a temple.  You should now see the next
checkpoint through an alley up ahead.  Go thorugh the alley.  You might wanna
use a nitro here, since you're going over a canal jump.  If you're going REALLY
fast, you might land on the highway bridge.  If not, you'll just hit the street
below, or the water if you're unlucky.

Anyway, hit the checkpoint on that side of the river, and head back towards the
marketplace park for the next checkpoint.  You'll need to get off on the
offramp if you landed on the highway.  Make your turn into the marketplace as
soon as you see an opening between the temples and the other buildings on the
left.  A fence will block your path if you don't make the turn fast.  Run along
the left wall of the park to find the alley headed to the next checkpoint.

Turn to the left to tag the checkpoint.  You should see the finish only on your
radar.  Pull a 180 and go north to the perimeter street.  Turn left, and use
all your remaining nitros on this stretch of road.  The finish line is near the
stadium.  When you see the open space on the left around the stadium, don't
turn into the first gap between the bushes and the buildings, or you'll have to
drive all the way around the bushes.  Instead, take the second gap in the
bushes to go straight to the finish.

Machi-yakko

This is one of the funnest races in the whole game.  Actually...it's not a
race.  You're supposed to use the Tokyo Cop car that Ken'ichi gives you to
destroy all the racers' cars, because they're disrespecting the Yakuza.  Just
one little tag is all that is needed to take out a racer.

To start off, start a burnout and press Triangle to skip the opening cutscene
of this race.  This'll give you a headstart on the other cars.  You'll be able
to rocket right in front of them after you release the handbrake for a burnout.
 If you had listened to Ken'ichi's whole speech, they would already be leaving
you behind.

Anyway, try to get in front of the pack, or get in the middle of them.  Crash
into as many cars as you can.  Once you've done that, go towards the back of
the pack and tag each of the surviving cars as you move up to the pack leader. 
Then, take him out to finish.  You can also chase after the lead car, and then
tag the other cars when they try to pass you when you slow down.  If you're
having trouble here, learn the route the cars follow so that you can anticipate
where they will go ahead of time.

This race is in the rain.   Most of the course is made up of long straightaways
and gentle curves, so the weather won't be as much of an issue as it was on
Nikko's first race.  Since this race is so straight, you'll need a car with
good top speed, and a car with good acceleration to recover from crashes you
will definitely have with the traffic.  Both the Saikou and the Knight fit
these requirements.  I would go with Knight, since it has better acceleration,
and rain doesn't affect it as much.

Also, try to get the lead early and keep it.  Your opponents have faster cars,
but they can't keep up with you well if they have to deal with the traffic like
you do.  Traffic only affects the area you car is in, you see.  If the
opponents aren't near you, they will have a big advantage over you from not
having to dodge other cars.  So, if one car gets ahead of you, you should
probably restart once they begin to pull away.

On with the race walkthrough.  Drive straight down the road you start on all
the way to the south end of Tokyo, then turn right.  Turn right again at the
next street.  Go through the gas station at the second corner to save a few
seconds.  When you hit the end of this road, go through the alley on the right.
 After you get to the end of the alley, be careful while going through the
traffic stopped at the light in front of you.  Go straight down this road until
you hit the north end of Tokyo.

Turn right there.  Make another right turn once you get to the intersection at
the canal.  Race alongside the canal, while going around the gentle curves. 
Get ready to make a quick turn to the right up ahead once you get to the
industrial area though.  Go down this two lane street all the way to the west
end of Tokyo.  Make a sharp right turn, then another sharp right at the next
checkpoint.

You're now on the final stretch.  Use your remaining nitros here.  When you hit
the last checkpoint before the finish, follow the train tracks to the finish
line.  You need to jump up the left set of stairs at the train station to hit
the finish line.

MAKOTO

Before you can race Makoto, you have to beat his time trial.  It's not that
difficult acutally, if you know a good route.  My route probably isn't the
fastest, but it's simple and it will allow you to maintain a high top speed. 
You'll have to make a lot of jumps over the canals, so make sure to save your
nitros for them.

At the start, turn left and follow the sidewalk to the street running alongside
the canal.  Turn right at that street, and drive down it towards the first
checkpoint.  When you pass the bridge on the left that's close to the
checkpoint, look for another "bridge" just past it.  This is the first ramp. 
This is a short jump, so you shouldn't need a nitro here if your car
accelerates quickly.

After you've hit the first checkpoint and touched down on the wharf, race along
the wharf island to the north.  Look for a street that's not marked on your
map.  This street will aim you right at the ramp leading to the next checkpoint
to the west.  Here you will most likely need a nitro, since there isn't much
space to accelerate properly.

From that jump, go straight down this road and around the loop roundabout. 
Head for the west end of Tokyo on this street.  When you reach the fork at the
end of the road, take the right fork and head north.  You should be coming up
to the checkpoint's block ahead.  When you get to that block, look for some
glass doors on the right.  Crash through those glass doors to find the next
checkpoint.

Drive to the left, back towards the streets again.  Get on the northernmost
street in the city, and head down this road to the east.  When you see the
temple park on the right where you started, drive into it.  Go through the
alley on the east end of the park and hit the ramp beyond it to snag the next
checkpoint.  Once you've got that checkpoint, go back to the park where you
started to finish the race.

Enduro

This is a really long race, so you need to try hard not to crash a lot.  If you
crash too much, you'll have to waste time in the middle of the race to wait for
your car to be repaired.  Also, this race takes place while it's raining.  This
can work to your advantage though, since the Torque JXs you're racing against
can't corner well.  They do have stellar speed though, so watch out on the
straightaways.  The best two cars for this race would be the Knight and the
Saikou XS.  They can both handle good in the rain, and they both have good
acceleration.  If you don't crash much with them, you can win.

Accelerate away from the start at the beginning of the race, and turn onto the
perimeter street on the left.  Race along this street until you reach the east
end of Tokyo.  Turn onto the highway offramp on the right when you come to it. 
The next checkpoint is marking it.  Watch out for cars on the way up.  After
getting on the highway, immediately get off again on the onramp on the right. 
You'll be on the perimeter street again.

Head left when you get to the street that has the next checkpoint.  Pull a 180
and turn back onto the perimeter street.  Race south towards the train station.
 Go up on the tracks, and then jump down to the wharf when you get to it.  Use
a nitro here to rocket over the ramp that is behind the next checkpoint.

After landing on the other side of the canal, make a right turn when you get to
the circle drive up ahead.  Hang a left turn when you get to the bridge leading
into the park.  Head straight on this road after it ends to go through an
alley.  You'll wind up right at the next checkpoint.  Make a right turn onto
the street here, but get ready to crash through a gate on the right to hit the
next checkpoint.  It's in a fenced area.  Crash through the gate at the other
end of the fenced area, and keep going straight.

When you get to the street before the stadium, make a left turn and head for
that stadium.  Look on the right for a tunnel going underneath the building. 
Follow it, and you'll be on a sidewalk that is aimed right for the next
checkpoint.  After you hit that, turn left, and then turn left again onto the
next street.  When you get to the block where the next checkpoint is, turn onto
that block on the right.  You'll find the checkpoint in a courtyard-type area.

Head through the gap near the columns on the south end of this area, and then
go across the street.  The alley leading to the next checkpoint is on the
right.  Turn left after hitting that checkpoint to get yourself lined up for
the next checkpoint.  Watch out for the median in your path though.  Once that
checkpoint is cleared, make a right turn, and then go right again onto a
street.

Look for a ramp on the left.  Drive up this ramp for yet another checkpoint.  
Hop down from this area on the ramp on the other side of the area.  Go straight
down the street you see on the left.  Instead of going over to the checkpoint
on the next street, go through the alley at the end of the road you're on to
keep heading straight.  After reaching the end of the alley, continue straight
on the road.  When you get to the perimeter road, turn left towards the
checkpoint.

Head straight down this road until you get the next checkpoint's street.  Make
a left there, then take another left turn after hitting that checkpoint.  When
you get to Shibuya, go up on the pedestrian walkway on the right to cross over
the area.  You'll be headed right for the next checkpoint.

After you're down, look for a set of glass doors behind the wall on the right. 
Crash through these doors into a mall.  Head up the escelator, then go down the
hallway.  At the end of the hall, you can jump from the top of a building to
the next checkpoint down below.  Make a right from there.  Go down this road
and onto a highway bridge.  When you get to the next checkpoint's street, crash
through the railing on the right to get to it.

Head over a street to the left for the next checkpoint.  All that's left now is
the finish.  If you look on the other side of the canal from the checkpoint,
you should see a wooden door set into the wall over there.  Crash through that
door, and head down the passageway beyond it.  When you get to the
intersection, go straight.  You'll crash out another wooden door, and you'll be
headed right for the finish.

Stage I - Intake

Savo's first race is mostly very straight, so top speed is important.  The
Torque JX actually has a higher top speed than Savo's Veloci, so it's a good
choice.  The Saikou XS isn't bad either, since it has killer acceleration and
better handling than the Veloci.  It only has three nitros against the Torque's
four though.  While on the highways, you'll be going up and down a lot of
onramps and offramps.  Be careful when boarding a ramp from the highway. 
There's usually another ramp leading onto the highway BEFORE the ramp you need,
so you might crash into the first ramp's wall if you turn too early.

At the start of the race, zoom through the stadium area.  Let the pack lead
here.  You're approaching a narrow alleyway, and going into it while in the
middle of the pack can cause some pretty bad wrecks.  At the end of that
alleyway, make a right turn.  Follow the road to a tunnel.  At the end of the
tunnel, jump onto the road on the right.  When you hit the next checkpoint,
make a sharp right turn.  Make another sharp right at the next checkpoint.

Turn onto the highway onramp on the left.  If you're using the Torque JX, this
is where you're gonna catch up if you're behind.  Take advantage of the
Torque's top speed on the straight highway to blow past the slower Velocis. 
Get ready for a turn onto an offramp on the left up ahead though.  Once you're
down on the street level, get ready to turn onto yet another ramp on the right.
 You are now on the wrong side of the highway.

Get ready for a turn onto a ramp on the right.  It's coming up when you come to
the highway bridge going over the canal.  When you get to the tunnel, take the
branching tunnel on the right for the next checkpoint.  Immediately turn left
after hitting that checkpoint, and go left again at the upcoming fork.  Head
left once again at the next checkpoint, and then go left again to follow the
canal.  Race along the water to get the next batch of checkpoints.

After you clear the canals, head straight along the road that was running next
to the canals.  Hang a left at the train tracks for the next checkpoint. 
Follow the tracks to the train station near the circle drive.  Get ready to hop
up on the tracks via the sets of stairs near the checkpoint.  Take it slow
here, because if you go too fast you'll probably fall off the tracks and have
to start over.

Race along the tracks after you successfully get on them.  Jump off to hit the
next checkpoint at the wharf when you get near it.  Race down the bridge beyond
the checkpoint, and turn onto the ramp on the right side of the bridge when you
get close to the end of it.  Head onto the highway offramp on the right when
you get to it.  Hang wide while going on the offramp, because there's a
barricade before it.

You're now on the wrong side of the highway again.  When you reach the area of
the highway with the poles in the tunnel, go through the poles to the left side
of the highway.  Turn back onto the right again when you reach the suspsension
bridge.  Get ready to get off the highway again by taking the onramp marked by
the next checkpoint.

Hang a right at the end of the street after the ramp, and then turn left again
to go through Shibuya.  Race down the road to the next checkpoint.  Turn to the
right after you hit it.  You can save some time by cutting through the gas
station during your right turn.  Go through the alley at the end of the road,
then hang a right at the end of it.  There's also the choice of crashing
through the glass doors on the right side of the alleyway to find a hallway to
the next checkpoint.

Make a right turn when you get to a street marked green on your map for the
next checkpoint.  You're almost to the finish now.  Turn onto the next
checkpoint's street when you get to it.  Race all the way to the end of this
road, and you should be in a cargo yard.  There will be two buildings on the
left, and a warehouse in front of you.  Turn to the left past the buildings. 
You should see a doorway in the warehouse ahead that you can go through. 
Rocket through that door into the warehouse, and then back out the other end. 
Go over the jump after the warehouse to hit the finish line.

Stage II - Light
****************************

Like the last race, most of this course takes place on the highway, so top
speed is your friend here.  However, you'll also be going down the wrong side
of the highway a lot and running into other cars, so acceleration can also be a
good friend.  It's mostly up to your personal driving style whether you'll do
better in the Saikou XS or the Torque JX.  Myself, I prefer the Torque more for
this race.

Zoom away from the cargo yard at the start of the race, and get on the road to
your left.  Prepare to board a ramp on the left side of the road to get on the
highway.  Race down the highway to the onramp marked by the next checkpoint. 
However, don't follow your opponents down that ramp.  It's possible to stay on
this highway and hit the next two checkpoints without getting off.  This will
help in keeping your top speed up.

To pull off this feat, get on the left side of the road, and clip the first
checkpoint next to the offramp when youget next to it.  Only hit it just barely
enough for it to count, otherwise you'll hit the dividing wall just behind it
or end up on the ramp.  For the second checkpoint, you may notice most of it is
off of the highway, but there is a tiny little bit poking through the left wall
of the higwhay.  Clip that too for the checkpoint to register.

After you make a right turn in the tunnel, prepare to make a left turn into a
side tunnel for the next checkpoint.  You are now heading for the residential
area.  Make a right turn at the fork in the road, and turn right again when you
get to the next checkpoint.  Keep heading right in this area until you get back
to the street heading towards the highway.  Make a left turn there.  Take the
left tunnel when you're entering the highway tunnels again.

Race down the highway, but get ready to take the ramp on the right when this
road ends.  When you're on the next highway road, turn off on the offramp on
the left here.  Follow the road straight when you get to the bottom of the ramp
for the next checkpoint.  After you pass the train station on the left, turn
left onto the next street, then right again onto the road leading along the
canal.  Prepare to get on an offramp on the right to board the highway once
again.

You're now on the wrong side of the highway.  Be careful here.  Crashes tend to
be pretty awful at this high speed.  Drive along the dividing lines between
lanes to avoid most of the cars.  Prepare to hit the next checkpoint on the
right.  You're now getting off the highway again.  At the bottom of the ramp,
turn left at the next street, then right for another checkpoint.

You'll go up yet another ramp and onto the highway AGAIN...  Jeez...Savo really
likes jumping back on and off the highway over and over.  Race down the
highway, and get ready to disembark on another offramp that's marked by a
checkpoint.  When you're down on the road, you should see the temple park on
the right side of the road.  Head through the temple park and out the alley on
the east end of it to hit the next checkpoint.  Turn left after you get it for
the next checkpoint, and then turn left again after that.

You'll now have to board the highway again via another offramp on the right. 
Race down the highway on the wrong side of the road once again.  When you get
off at the end, make a left turn at the next street.  Hit the first checkpoint,
and then make a left turn at the second checkpoint.  You should be coming up
towards a street running along the waterway on the right.  Look for an alley on
the left here.  It's on the corner of an intersection.  Drive through that
alleyway.

Hit the checkpoint at the end of the alley, then go through the tunnel that it
was in front of.  Slow down some here.  The tunnel opens up and then narrows
down suddenly while you go through it, so you could crash when it starts to
narrow down again.  After you leave the tunnel, you'll crash through a building
on the other side of the next street.  Drive through the next checkpoint past
the building, then go under another building and over a ramp to the finish
line.

Stage III - Burn

From what I've seen, everyone thinks this is the hardest race in the game. 
There are four checkpoints set in each corner of Paris, with the finish line in
the central plaza.  You have to visit each point, and then get back to where
you started the race to win.  This race is quite intimidating, since there
isn't any linear path and your opponents seem to know some really good routes. 
If you wanna hear what I think is the best opponent route, I would pick Savo's
route.

However, there is one good route I've come up with that none of the opponents
will take.  Basically, you hit the checkpoint on the island in the southwest
corner of the map, then you work your way around the points clockwise until you
reach the Notre Dame Cathedral checkpoint.  From there, you use the jump on the
northern tip of the cathedral's island to jump to the barge in the river, from
which you jump to reach the plaza where the finish line is.  As you already
know, Paris is made up of a lot of tight, twisty alleyways and streets, so I
would recommend the Saikou XS over the Torque JX here.  I'll write out the
walkthrough for that route down below.

At the start, use the burnout to turn your car around so that you're facing
west.  Get on the street you see in front of you, and turn left.  Turn right
when you get to the riverside.  Run west along the river to the bridge leading
to the island checkpoint.  Collect that checkpoint, then get back on the bridge
and head north.  Go through the park in the middle of the big U-shaped
building.  You can jump through the big glass windows near the midway point of
the building to keep going straight.

After you're through the building, race down the street on the right.  It's the
one heading north.  When this street starts to curve to the right, look for an
alley on the left.  Go through that alley to a platform above the highway. 
Jump off the right end of the platform towards the next checkpoint.  Get off
the highway at the next offramp.  At the roundabout you come to, take the first
street on the left and head east.  Cut through the park near the end of the
road for the third checkpoint here.  One more to go...

Race south down the street on the east side of the park, and then turn left
when you get to the end of it.  Turn into the alley on the right at the end of
this road, and follow it to a rooftop jump.  Jump over on the left side of the
roof into a wire tunnel.  Avoid the temptation to use a nitro here.  After the
wire tunnel, you'll be on the roof of another building.  Go over the end of the
roof, and you'll be flying straight towards the Notre Dame Cathedral. 
Hopefully, you're not going too fast and you'll land in the park before the
cathedral.

Drive through the door in the side of the cathedral, and out the other end for
the last checkpoint.  Drive through the park to the north, and get on the
street going through the middle of this island.  Follow the street into an
alley, and follow the alley to a jump onto a river barge.  Jump from the river
barge to the gates of the plaza.  I'm sure by now the other racers are moving
in for the finish if they haven't already, so quickly get inside the plaza and
tag the finish line before they do.

*****************ALTERNATE ROUTES****************
In this alternate route, you hit the checkpoint in the northeast corner of the
city, then you work your way around the checkpoints counterclockwise until you
reach the Notre Dame Cathedral checkpoint.  Then, you use the jump on the
northern side of its island to reach the central plaza where the finish line
is.  I'll write out the walkthrough down below.

Zoom away from the start, and head right.  At the end of the road you're on,
turn right onto a street going diagonally northeast.  This street is quite
bumpy, so be careful to maintain control over the car while you're going up it.
 Turn right at the top, and head down this road.  Make a left turn when the
road forks, and then turn right down the stairs to the checkpoint. 
Shortcutting over the grass is a bad idea, because there are some bumpy hills
there.

Head west again towards the roundabout to the south of the nearest highway
entrance.  Use the northernmost narrow street in this area to get there. When
you reach the roundabout, head north towards the highway entrance ramps.  Make
a left turn onto the correct side of the highway if you wanna play it safe. 
Otherwise go to the wrong side of the road because it's closer.  Hit the
checkpoint on the highway, then get off via the ramp in the gas station to the
west.

Head down the south alleyway at the top of the ramp, and make a right turn when
you get to the street.  At the next intersection, turn left, but don't go down
the road.  Go towards the wall on the other side of the street instead.  You
should see an alley there.  Go through it.  After you exit the alley, enter the
building on the right.  There should be a door you can go through.

You're heading for a ramp right now.  Don't use your nitrous yet though.  As
you go over the jump, aim your car towards the right so that you'll fly
directly towards the island checkpoint.  Once you've hit it, use a nitro to
rocket over the ramp on the south side of the island.  You're now in the Eiffel
Tower area.  You should see a road on the left, running along the perimeter of
the park.  Board this road.

When you reach the roundabout at the end of the road, make a left turn.  Follow
this road down to the Notre Dame Cathedral island.  When you get there, turn
rigth for the checkpoint.  All you gotta do is hit the finish now.  Get on the
road leading along the middle of the island.  Head to the northern corner of
the island via the alley at that road's end.  Use the jump there to fly to a
river barge, and then jump from the river barge to the plaza gates.  Drive
through the gates and finish quickly before your opponents can tag the finish
line.

You're gonna be going over nearly every jump in the entire city, and you will
also be winding through a lot of cramped passageways.  The Saikou XS definitely
has the advantage over the Torque JX here because of its cornering.  Try hard
not to crash a lot, because this is a long race.  It really sucks when your
damage meter fills up and you have to wait for the car to be fixed.

To start off, zoom away from the start and go under the ferris wheel.  Race
down the street to the Arc de Triumph and go under it.  Turn to the right after
you pass under it to hit the next street.  After you go over a hill, you should
see the horseshoe-shaped building on the left.  Go through the door in this
building that your opponents use, and follow the building's curve to the left. 
You're heading for a jump, but don't use a nitro.  That will likely do more
harm than good.

After you fly over the ramp and down to the river island below, you'll hit the
next checkpoint.  Go over the ramp on the other side of the island to jump to
the Eiffel Tower's park.  Go past the Eiffel Tower, and then turn to the left
after you pass it.  You should see some stone fences at where you're headed. 
Go between the pair of fence blocks to hit the next checkpoint.  Take it easy
on this street, because it's packed with traffic and there's even an
indestructable barricade on the right here.

After you get through this street, cross the bridge and hit the checkpoint at
the plaza.  For the next checkpoint, you can either leap over the building on
the east side of the plaza with the glass pyramid, or you can stick to the
streets and head towards it on the southernmost road.  The glass pyramid is
faster, but you'll have to cut through some tight alleyways later to reach the
next checkpoint's street.  Meanwhile, those who stick to the streets will
simply be able to drive from the checkpoint to the next checkpoint's road on a
wide street.  I'd stick with the streets, since you'll be able to maintain your
top speed better.

At the end of the road this checkpoint is on, prepare to turn into an alley on
the right.  You're gonna have to do the rooftop jumps again.  Head through the
wire tunnel from the left jump at the end of this road.  Leap to the next
building, and then leap from that building across the river to the Notre Dame
Cathedral island.  Hit the checkpoint in the park, and then bash through the
doors in the side of the cathedral, and out the doors at the other end.  Turn
left to hit the next checkpoint.

Turn left again from that checkpoint onto a street.  You should see the alley
leading to one of the barge jumps at this point.  Go through that alley, and
over the ramp to the barge.  Slow down some when you land on the boat.  Jump
from the barge to the tunnel you can see on the wall on the other side of the
river.  Don't go too fast over the barge's jump, or you'll hit one of the walls
beside the tunnel.

After passing through the tunnel and hitting the next checkpoint, make a left
turn.  Head east down this road to the roundabout you see ahead.  On the right,
you should see a ramp with the checkpoint behind the ramp.  Drive around on the
right side of the ramp to hit the checkpoint, then make a right turn.  Make
another right turn at the next checkpoint, and then yet another right turn onto
the next road.

Go up the ramp on the right side of the street the next checkpoint is marking. 
Go along the glass wall in here to reach a ramp that will shoot you into an
alleyway.  Hit the next checkpoint at the end of the alley, and then make a
right turn.  Follow the road, and you'll again be heading towards the alleyway
that goes to the big rooftop jumps.  When you get to the first jump here
though, go right instead of left.

Race across the rooftop.  When you reach the next roof, go to the left.  Follow
this long section of the roof to the drop off at the end.  Fly from the drop
off to the next checkpoint on the bridge below.  Be careful here, because it's
easy to miss the narrow bridge and fall in the river.

Turn left when you get to the next checkpoint.  Race down this road to the next
checkpoint after that, and blast through the alley after the street's end for
the second barge jump to the plaza.  Go through the gates you land near, hit
the next checkpoint, then go thorugh the gates on the other end of the plaza.

Look for a street on the right that goes diagonally northeast.  You want to
take this street to the next checkpoint.  Be careful on this road, becuase it's
very bumpy and it's easy to crash.  From the checkpoint at the top of the road,
head east towards the finish line.  You can probably use a nitro at the top of
this big hill to fly straight towards the finish, but you also run the risk of
completely missing the finish line and having to waste a lot of time to turn
around and hit it.

Stage V - Traction

This race takes place in the rain, so the Saikou XS definitely has a big
advantage over the Torque JX here.  You could even use the Knight if you want
to, because that's what I used to beat this race the first time I played it.  I
had a lot of difficulty with beating them in that car though, of course.

Also, the checkpoints in this race are nonlinear, like in Savo's first Paris
race.  They are all organized into small groups of three checkpoints each. 
Savo again probably has the best route out of all of your opponents.  However,
I'm going to write you my own route here that I think is faster than all the
other opponents's routes.  It's similar to Savo's route, but with a few
modifications.

Zoom away from the start at LAX.  Try to get a quick Slip-stream Turbo here. 
When you get onto the road leading away from the airport, make a right turn
onto the first highway ramp you see on the right.  Race down this highway and
hit the first two checkpoints.  After the second checkpoint, turn onto the ramp
on the right side of the course to go down to the highway heading north.  Hit
the last checkpoint, and then do a 180 to go down the ramp you see on the left
side of the road.

Race down this highway to the east.  Get ready to get off of the highway on the
ramp on the left side of the road though.  At the bottom of the ramp, turn
left.  Hit the checkpoint there.  Go down the road, and turn left at the gas
station.  Make a right turn at the next intersection to hit the second
checkpoint in this group.  Make yet another right turn and race down this road
to the final checkpoint in this group.  Turn left from that checkpoint.

Bypass the first intersection after you cross the bridge, and crash through the
glass doors on the right when you reach the next intersection.  Jump over the
canal to the next cluster of checkpoints.  Hit the first checkpoint, and then
turn left at the end of the road.  Turn left again at the next intersecion, and
then right to hit the second checkpoint.  Do a 180, and turn left.  Hit the
last checkpoint in this group near the highway ramps.

After hitting the last checkpoint in that group, make a left turn onto the
first highway ramp on the left side.  Race down the wrong side of the highway
towards the next cluster of checkpoints.  Get off at the next ramp on the right
side of the road.  Hit the checkpoint at the bottom of the ramp.  This is where
I'm gonna start deviating from Savo's normal route.  Instead of going left at
the bottom of the ramp like the other cars, go right.  Turn right at the next
corner for the second checkpoint.  Turn right once more for the final
checkpoint.  Head right once again when you reach the next intersection.

Race down this street.  When you get to the end of it, make a right turn. 
You're heading for a new cluster of checkpoints, but you're only going to be
hitting the one on this road.  Leave the others for later.

Go down this road to the other cluster that's left.  Make a right turn at the
end of the road of this diagonal street.  Hit the first checkpoint on the
street you're currently on.  Then, make a right turn after the intersection and
go down the hill to hit the second checkpoint.  Go up the street curving to the
left ahead.  Go straight at the first intersection after the hill turn, then go
into the alley on the right that's past it.  It's marked with a P.  Run through
the alley to hit the final checkpoint in this cluster.

Continue going down this street with all the palm trees on it until you reach
the end of the road.  Make a left turn here, then turn right onto the diagonal
street going southeast.  When you get to the road that has the next checkpoint,
make a left turn towards it.  Then, turn right to hit the last checkpoint.  All
that's left is the finish now.  Race down this road, and when you get to the
finish line's block, turn right into the parking garage that it's inside of.

Stage VI - Apex

Here we are...the final race!  This is a very very long race, so try hard not
to crash your car too much.  Fortunately, there's no rain out this time.  Both
the Saikou XS and the Torque JX can perform well here, since this race has
equal shares of long straightaways and tight alleyways.

At the start, zoom out of the garage and head down the road going east.  Make a
left turn at the second intersection you come to.  When you come up to the
street where the next checkpoint is, look for an alley on the right to drive
through.  Be careful here, because this alley is pretty bumpy and it's easy to
flip over in.  Stay on the left, because it's less bumpy on that side.  Make a
left turn from the checkpoint you come to.

Race down this street, and prepare for the palm tree slalom up ahead.  You
should clear that street and go down a hill up ahead.  Make a right turn at the
second intersection at the bottom of the hill.  Go down this street to hit that
checkpoint, then make a right turn.  Go onto the two lane road straight ahead. 
Follow this winding road through the trees to the next checkpoint, then make a
right turn there.

You'll come to an intersection at the end of the road.  Make a right turn and
go into the grassy area.  Drive through the doorway in the building in this
small park.  Make a left turn after you pass through the door, since tha path
splits in two here.  Head right when you get to the end of this alley, and zoom
down this road to the next checkpoint.  The stadium area should be up ahead on
your right.  It's marked by several colored shapes between the blue roads on
your map.

When you get there, go through the parking garage on the right.  Head across
the sidewalks and stuff until you reach the other side of the stadium area. 
Turn left when you get to the next checkpoint's street.  Turn right at the
checkpoint, and then turn right again at the next intersection.  Head left at
the next checkpoint, and then turn left at the next intersection.  Look for an
alley on the right, and go into it.  Hit the checkpoint at the end of this
alley, and then go left.

Run down this street, and turn right at the first intersection that will let
you go right.  You're heading towards LAX now.  When you get to the airport,
stay to the right.  Pass the ramp you see, and turn right onto the street
that's past it.  Run down around LAX to hit the checkpoint at the back of the
place.  You'll have to go through the columns to hit it.  Keep following the
circular road back out of LAX.

When you reach the slums again, make a right turn at the second intersection
you come to.  After you pass under the highway on this road, turn left into the
curving parking garage.  It'll take you straight to the next checkpoint.  The
next checkpoint is coming up on a sidestreet on the left.  Turn onto that
street to hit the checkpoint, then pull a 180.  Go through the alley you see on
the left.  Head through the parking garage at the end of the alley, and then
through the glass doors at the end of that.  Turn left when you get to the
street.

Go across the bridge into the industrial sector for the next checkpoint.  Make
a right turn at the checkpoint, and then go right again when you get to the end
of the road.  You should be coming up on the canal soon.  When you get to it,
jump off to the left towards the next checkpoint down below.

This part is just like the end of Dice's first race, and the beginning of his
second race.  You should see a bridge in the distance.  Turn right when you get
under it, and go through the tunnel you can see below the arch there.  You'll
hit the next checkpoint at the end of this tunnel.  At the second intersection
you come to, make a left turn into a shopping area.  Go up the stairs you see
here to fly diagonally across the block.  Head right when you get back to the
road.

Hit the next checkpoint, and go left.  Turn left again at the next
intersection.  You'll be headed for the stadium parking lot.  Race across it to
the street with the next checkpoint.  Go over the bridge, and hit it.  Get on
the highway via the first ramp on the right.  Hit the checkpoint here, and then
take the first ramp you see on the right.  You'll hit the next checkpoint at
the end.  Go down the highway towards the cloverleaf road area.

You can see the checkpoint on the overhead bridge, but you will need to get up
there to hit it.  Go under the bridge, and then take the ramp on the right just
past it.  Curve to the right here.  Hit the checkpoint up here, and then go
down the next ramp on the right and continue curling right.  At the end of the
ramp, pull a 180 and go down this road the wrong way.  Head down the road to
the next checkpoint at the beach.  Hit the checkpoint in the park above the
cliff, and then get on the street to the left of the park.  Make a left turn
when the road starts to go up a hill.

Follow this road, and then turn right onto a street going diagonally southeast.
 Follow the road until you get to the stadium area.  Make a left turn there,
and then go through the parking garage straight towards the finish at the gas
station.  If you made it in time, then congradulations!  You have defeated Savo
and become the world champion!

SMALL NOTE:
Did you notice that this race ends right where you starts when you play cruise
mode in LA?  I think it's a nice touch that this game ends where you begin
(assuming you picked cruise mode first).

5: CIRCUITS WALKTHROUGH

These races must be completed in addition to Career mode to get 100% game
completion.  You will also need to beat them if you want the police cars.  To
play these races, go to Arcade mode and select the city.  Select Circuit at the
Game Type option, and you'll find these courses.  These races are a bit
different from Career mode races, so let me give you some tips specific  this
type of race.

- Instead of the course being one long path to the finish, you'll have to do
laps around the course a set amount of times.  Usually, it will be three laps. 
Anyway, your nitros always replenish every time you complete a lap, so don't be
afraid to abuse them.

- There's no traffic in these races if you choose the default options, so don't
bother to watch out for any other cars apart from your opponents.

- Since you can use any car on any of these races, wait until you unlock some
really fast cars before you play them.  Most of the circuits will be cakewalks
if you do this.  Like, for example, wait until you unlock some Paris cars
before you do the Los Angeles circuits.

This race is pretty easy.  With the exception of when you make a 90 degree left
turn at the end of a course, you'll never have to turn onto any side streets
during this race.  Also, almost all of the curves are very gentle, so there's
no need for a car with good cornering abilities.  Just watch out for when you
jump down from the hill at the start of the course.  The road will curve to the
right after you go over the top, and you might find yourself slamming into the
side of a building on the left.

In this course, you will race alongside the canal on the south and east sides
of Los Angeles for almost the entire course.  Be careful you don't fall inside
the canal though!

At the start of the race, go straight and race alongside the canal.  When you
get to a bridge on the left, turn onto it.  Make a right turn at the end of
that bridge, and then make another right turn onto the next bridge.  Turn left
at the end of that bridge.  Go to the end of the road and turn left for the
next bridge.  For the next checkpoint, you can either take the streets, or
shortcut through the passageway to the left.  You'll fly over a warehouse
during this shortcut.

When you hit the next checkpoint, cross the bridge to the left of it, and then
turn right at the end of the bridge.  Turn left again at the next checkpoint,
and follow the trail of checkpoints to the dam jump.  Cross over to the other
side of the canal via that jump.  Turn left at the end of that road.  Hang a
left at the next intersection, then right, and then left again onto the bridge.
 Turn left at the end of the bridge for the finish line.

Runoff

This course requires you to go around a lot of 90 degree turns, so cornering
power and accleration are helpful here.

At the start of the course, go forward until you get to the end of the road,
then turn right.  Turn right again at the next intersection.  Go straight to
the end of this road, then make a left turn.  Turn left again at the next
intersection.  Go to the end of the road and into the park, then jump off the
cliff to hit the next checkpoint on the right.  Drive up the road and around
two gentle right corners.  You'll have to make a right turn at the next
intersection after the second curve.

After turning there, make a left turn at the next street.  Watch out for the
buildings and the trees on this street.  Turn left at the next intersection,
then turn right at the one after that.  Hang another left after you pass the
next junction.  Head right at the next intersection, and then left at the next
one.  Head left again at the next junction.

Follow the road, and you should soon come to an intersection with the next
checkpoint on the corner on the left.  Go through the alley that it's marking
and up a ramp.  Turn left after you get out of that alleyway.  Turn left again
at the next intersection, and then right again at the bottom of the hill. 
That's the end of one lap.

Arrivals & Departures

Like the last course, this one requires you to go around a lot of 90 degree
turns.  You want handling and acceleration.  Also, you'll be going around the
airport a few times, so be careful not to get lost in its networks of bridges.

Zoom straight ahead down the road in front of you.  At the second intersection
you come to, make a right turn.  Then, make a left turn at the next
intersection.  Head left when you come to the next intersection marked by a
checkpoint.  Go to the end of the road, and turn left.  Turn right at the next
intersection.

You're heading for the airport now.  Head down the road, and then turn onto the
ramp marked by a checkpoint after you go under the highway bridge.  Get ready
to make a sharp turn to the right after you get to the top of the ramp.  Go
across this bridge, and then make a left turn.  Follow the road around the
perimeter of LAX.  When the road splits, take the right fork.

Drive away from the airport again, and turn right at the next intersection you
come to.  Follow the road, but get ready to turn once you pass the gas station.
 The checkpoint right after the station is next to an alley on the right, so
turn into that alley.  Crash through the wooden fence around the wire objects
you see, and continue to drive down the alley until you reach the next
checkpoint.  Turn right from there.

Follow this street back to the airport again.  Once you reach LAX, go down the
road on the left marked by a checkpoint.  Prepare to take a right fork in a
second after you get on this road.  Drive around the back of the spider-like
building, and you'll be headed away from the airport yet again.  Hit the last
checkpoint before the highway bridge to complete a lap.

Beverly Thrasher

Drive straight ahead from the start, and then make a right turn at the first
checkpoint you come to.  Drive along this hill road through Hollywood.  While
you're out here, don't turn off of this road at an intersection until you come
to the third one.  Follow the trail of checkpoints down this street till you
are about to reach the end of it.  At the last checkpoint on this road, make a
sharp left turn into an alley.  Turn to the left again when you reach the end
of it.

Go up this road.  After you head up a hill, look on the left side for an alley.
 It'll be on the corner at the first intersection after the hill.  Go down it,
and then turn left when it forks to go through a building.  Dodge the palm
trees here, and make a left turn onto a hill road.  Head left when you get to
the end of that road.  Drive down this street through the winding hills.  When
you hit the city again, make a left turn.

Turn left again at the next intersection.  When you hit the next checkpoint,
turn to the left into an alley.  This is the same one you went through a moment
ago.  Head right at the fork, then turn left to get lined up with the road
again.  When you hit the next checkpoint, make a right turn into an alley.  Fly
over the jump at the end of the alley and land below.  Go a short way down the
street to hit the last checkpoint for this lap.

This race has a lot of narrow street, tight turns, and jumps.  So, you want
acceleration and cornering here.

Drive down the road in front of you.  Hit the first checkpoint, then drive
clockwise around the roundabout, until you come to a checkpoint marking a side
street.  Go down this street and up the hill.  You should be coming up to a
cathedral on the right.  Make a sharp right turn to stay on the road when it
curves right.  Be careful not to slip and fall down the mountain.

Slow down after you make it around the turn.  You'll have to make a sharp left
turn once you pass the cathedral to jump down a steep alley.  Go down the
alley, and then head right at the bottom.  At the next intersection you come
to, go right again.  Head up this short, but steep street, and then head left
when you reach the park at the end.  Go down the road to complete a lap.

Louvre Launch

From the start at the cathedral, make a right turn after you leave and onto the
nearby street.  Go down this narrow street to the roundabout at the end of it. 
Take the street on the right from there.  Hit the checkpoint at the highway
overpass, then turn left onto the correct side of the highway.  Watch out for
when you reach the tunnel up ahead.  You'll need to swerve through the dividing
columns on the left for the a checkpoint, and then you'll need to swerve back
for the next checkpoint.

The gas station should be coming up on the left up ahead.  Get ready to make a
U-turn through the station when you reach it.  Go up the ramp on the right
inside the station, and take the alley straight ahead from the top of the ramp.
 Follow the alley until its end, from where you need to turn slightly to the
right to keep following the trail.  When the street ends, make a right turn,
and then left when you get close to the ferris wheel.

When you are past the ferris wheel, make a right turn and cross the small park,
then head left again through the hedge maze.  You should be going towards the
glass pyramid.  Use the pyramid to leap over a building to the next checkpoint.
 Head left into an alleyway when you come to the next checkpoint.  Follow the
alley until it dead ends, and then go left.  Head right and then left at the
end of this alley to hit a street to the hilly park.  Race up the hill to the
left to get to complete the lap.

Tourist Trap

You'll be going through a lot of tight twisty alleyways here, so you need
maneuverability.

After you pass by the first intersection at the start, turn to the left into an
alley.  Crash through the gate on the left at the end of this alley.  Turn left
to get onto a ramp that shoots you at the next checkpoint.  Land on the bridge
below.  Go into the alley on the right that's marked by a checkpoint.  After
you go through the alley, make a right turn and follow a sidewalk down another
alley.  Head right when you get to the end, and then left again over the bridge
you just crossed.

When you get off the bridge, you need to make a left turn into some alleyways
for the next set of checkpoints.  Head right from the first checkpoint in
there, then left again at the next one.  Make another right turn at the next
checkpoint, and then left once more.  Make another left turn for the next
checkpoint, and go down this alley to the riverfront.

Crash through the railing here to hit the street below that's next to the
river.  Drive down the road.  Head back up to street level when you get to a
ramp you need to drive up for the next checkpoint.  Pull a 180 and head for the
next checkpoint to complete this lap.

Arc de Triomphe

You need a good handling car for this race, because it's raining and you'll be
moving through some tight spaces as you keep going around the Arc de Triumph.

At the start of the race, accelerate towards the Arc.  Hit the checkpoint
underneath it, and then drive to the right through the door in the right leg of
the Arc.  Make a left turn, and follow the road marked by the checkpoint.  Head
right when you reach the riverfront.  Head right again at the next
intersection.  Go up the hill, and make yet another right turn.

You're heading back towards the Arc now.  Hit the checkpoint underneath it, and
then go through the hole in the left leg for the next checkpoint.  Make a sharp
left turn, and follow the street marked by the checkpoint.  When you reach an
intersection, prepare to turn left to hit an alleyway.  At the end of that
alleyway, head right.

After you hit this checkpoint, you should see the AI cars jumping over the
stairs in the middle of this horseshoe building and down into the park below. 
Don't follow them though.  Instead, go through the right doorway into the
horseshoe building, and follow the hall to a jump that will send you flying
over the Seine and onto the island below.  Go up the ramp there and fly to hit
the next checkpoint.

Turn left to hit the checkpoint under the Eiffel Tower, and then head left
again.  Cross the bridge to hit the next checkpoint, and then go to the left. 
Make a right turn at the end of the road.  Follow the road to half of a
roundabout, and then go left from there.  Follow this street to end the lap.

Necro Modellista

Most of this race takes place in the catacombs, so cornering and acceleration
are critical here.  Also, since it's raining, a front wheel drive car would be
good as well.

At the start of the race, turn to the left and pass through the walkway under
the ferris wheel.  Be careful not to hit the cars.  Make a sharp right turn
after you're through there.  Head left when the road ends.  Take the alley at
the end of this street, and then turn right into the catacombs up ahead.  It
will be marked by a checkpoint.

Go down the tunnel while watching out for columns.  When you reach the chamber
at the end of the tunnel, head down the tunnel on the right.  Go down this
tunnel while crashing through little pipes and avoiding big ones.  At the end
of that passageway, move a little to the left in the chamber to the next
tunnel.  Follow this tunnel to yet another chamber.

In this chamber, you want to go to the left to hit the next checkpoint.  Go
into the tunnel it was in front of.  Follow the tunnel to the end, and then
head to the right when you get to the end of it.  Make a wide turn through this
room, so that you'll be lined up for the next tunnel.  You should be exiting
the tunnels shortly.

After you get out, make a right turn onto a parking lot, and then turn right
again when you reach the roadway.  Follow this road until you reach the
roundabout, and go left from there.  Head down this road, and you'll cross a
bridge onto the Notre Dame Cathedral's island.  Turn left at the first
intersection you come to.

Head into the park on the left when you get to it, and then hit the door into
the catacombs again.  Head down this chamber, but watch out!  You'll come to a
part where the tunnel widens out twice.  Each of these places where the tunnel
widens there will be a large pipe for you to drive around.  Go around on the
left side of each of them, since the checkpoints are slightly to the left here.

At the end of the tunnel, drive up the glass pyramid in front of you.  You need
to hit the checkpoint up on the pyramid, and then start turning to the left
when you're about to get it.  Hit the nearby checkpoint to complete a lap.

Evening Mass

At the start of the race, turn to the left after you get off the bridge, and
head towards the front doors of the Notre Dame Cathedral.  You need to jump
thorugh the front doors and inside the building.  Be careful here, because
you'll be in the middle of the pack and it will be hard to stay on course. 
Consider holding back until the other cars have gone through, or try to get
ahead before they can reach the doors.

Drive through the cathedral, and bust through one of the doors at the other end
of the room.  Make a right turn from there and then go left at the end of the
street.  Drive along the perimeter of the park you come to for two more
checkpoints.  Head left on the street when you get back to it.  Next, turn
right when you reach another checkpoint.  Head right again at the next
checkpoint, and then left again at the one after that.

You need to turn right at the upcoming bridge.  Follow this road to the
roundabout, and head around on the right side of the circle.  Drive around the
ramp you can see on this side of the circle, and go down the alley to the next
checkpoint.  Head left from there.  Go down the alley at the end of the street,
and then head right.  Turn left when you get to the bridge, and drive along the
riverfront for a little bit.  Hang a right onto the next bridge.

At the next checkpoint, make a right turn into an alley.  Follow this alley's
sidewalk down to a jump that launches you onto the river barge.  You then need
to jump from the barge to the plaza's gates.  Don't go too fast here, or you'll
crash into the gates.  Hit the checkpoint at the roundabout in here, then make
a U-turn back the way you came.  Cross the bridge straight ahead.  Once you're
off that bridge, make a left turn onto the bridge marked by a checkpoint.  Head
right at the end of that bridge to complete the lap.

TOKYO CIRCUITS

Shibuya Speedway

This race takes place in the rain, but most of the course is straight so that
won't be much of an issue.  You want top speed and acceleration here.

Accelerate down the road at the start.  Head right when you get to the
checkpoint, and cut through the park for a litttle shortcut.  Head right again
when you reach that next checkpoint.  Go down this long road, and you should be
coming up on the next checkpoint at the stadium.  Go left from that one.  Head
right at the checkpoint after that.

Hit the next checkpoint and head right, but prepare for another right turn
after the next checkpoint.  You'll need to go down and up a short trench in the
road.  Head left once you're out of there.  Go into the alley the next
checkpoint is pointing you towards.  Head down this alleyway until you reach
its end.  Follow this road into a tunnel.  After you exit, go straight down
this road to end the lap.

Ouroboros

OPPONENT CAR:

In this race, you'll be traveling along the canals outside the historic castle.
 Top speed is good here, since you'll be on broad streets a lot of the time.

At the start of the race, drop down into the canal and hit the checkpoint on
the canal wall.  Drive along the wall for the next checkpoint, and then go
under the bridge for the checkpoint after that.  Continue going along the wall
for the next two checkpoints, then get up on the street on the right.  Follow
the road down the canal for the next series of checkpoints.  Stay to the right
when you pass where you started, because you'll have to go down into a tunnel
on the right for one of the checkpoints.

Once you're through that area, get ready to go off onto a fork on the right for
another checkpoint.  After you hit the checkpoint on the fork, turn left at the
next intersection after that.  Cross the bridge down the road for the next
checkpoint.  Once that checkpoint is down, pull off into the grass on the left.
 You should be seeing a rock up ahead.  Use that rock as a ramp to jump towards
the next checkpoint.  You will have completed a lap then.

Sonic Waves

There's a lot of long, straight stretches on this course, but there's also a
fair amount of 90 degree turns too.  Since you're facing off against Vortex
5's, you probably won't be able to beat them in the turns.  Favor top speed
here instead of cornering.

At the start of the race, accelerate through the tunnel.  Follow this road, but
slow down when you reach the second tunnel.  You'll have to make a turn to the
left after it, and you won't be able to turn if you jump out of the tunnel. 
Its now time for the column slalom.  Hit the first checkpoint in this part on
the left, then go to the other side of the columns for the next checkpoint.  Go
back again for another checkpoint, and then turn right again to head down
another street.

Head left at the intersection marked by a checkpoint, and keep turning left
into another checkpoint and down an alley.  When you hit the checkpoint where
you reach the streets again, take the right street.  Head left at the next
turn, and then go right underneath the tower to continue following the trail of
checkpoints.  Go left at the intersection marked by a checkpoint, and then go
right at the next checkpoint.  Crash through the glass doors at the corner for
a shortcut.  Go left at the fork, and keep heading left to complete the next
lap.

Tribulation

This race is mostly long and straight, so a ride with good top speed is a great
idea.  Watch out for those 90 degree turns though.

At the start of the race, zoom down the road, and make a right turn onto
Tokyo's perimeter street.  Go through the checkpoints until one of them signals
you to turn right.  Go down that street.  Get ready to make a left turn into an
alley after you pass underneath the highway bridge.  Turn left again at the
next checkpoint in the alleys.  Go around the median you see ahead, and hit the
next checkpoint.

Make a right turn at that checkpoint, and then head right again once you reach
the street.  Pass under the highway bridge, and turn onto the sidewalk on the
left marked by the next checkpoint.  Get on the street, and head to the left. 
When you reach the next intersection, make a right turn.  Make another right
turn at the next intersection, and yet another right turn onto the street that
dips down and up.  You should be headed right for the staidum now.

Drive through the cargo passageways beneath the stadium.  When you exit the
tunnel, head to the left and go down that road.  Make a left turn at the next
intersection.  Go down the road, and hang a left turn at the intersection
marked by the next checkpoint.  Hang a right at the next checkpoint.  Once the
next checkpoint is cleared, go left under the train tracks.  Head through the
gap between the buildings that the checkpoint marks.

Go to the left from there.  Get ready to make a right turn into an alley at the
corner at the next intersection.  Follow the alley to the end, and then turn
left onto the road.  Make a right turn at the intersection beore the bridge. 
Go down this road, but cut across the pavement on the right side of the road
for a small shortcut.  Follow this road until it ends, then go right.  Get
ready to head left again at the next intersection.

Rocket down Tokyo's perimeter street.  After you make a turn to the right on
this street, get ready to jump onto a street on the right.  It will be at a 45
degree angle.  The checkpoint here is the last one for the lap.

Hangtime

OPPONENT CAR:

Go down the bridge you can see from the starting line.  Stay on the right side
of the bridge, because towards the end of it you'll need to use a ramp that
goes off to the right.  When you're on this road, get ready to take the highway
onramp on the left.  Once you're on the highway, turn left again to get on the
highway offramp.  At the bottom of that ramp, go down the bridge just to your
left.

Hang a right at the end of the bridge, then turn right again at the next
bridge.  Turn right yet again at the end of that bridge.  Once you've hit the
second checkpoint after the bridge, immediately turn to the left.  You need to
hit a checkpoint across the pavement.  The checkpoint is in front of an alley. 
Follow the alley to the end, and turn left at the end.

You have two ways of getting to the next checkpoint.  You can either make a
tight right turn and stick to the street to get it, or you can make a wide
right turn and hit the alley across the pavement up ahead.  The alley is
probably faster.  Run down this road as it curves to the right afterwards. 
Stick to the left side of the road here, because you'll need to get onto a ramp
on the left shortly.  It will take you onto the bridge to the wharf.

At the end of that bridge, make a right turn, and then go left at the next
intersection.  This is a good place to use a nitro, because you're headed
straight for a jump across the canal.  You should land near the train station. 
Make a left turn at the circle drive, and get ready to crash through the
station's front doors.  Go through them and out the other end.

Get ready for a tricky turn at the next checkpoint.  As you hit it, look at the
street corner on the left.  You should see a building with a short passageway
on the bottom of it.  Drive through that hole and out the other end.  Head for
the next checkpoint, and then turn left.  You're heading for the second canal
jump.  Look for the door in the warehouse up ahead.  Be careful, because it's
hard to see due to the cargo containers in its way.

For this jump, it's a good idea to take it easy over it.  The finish line is
just up ahead, and it's gonna be pretty crappy if you crash into the warehouse
after the jump, and then you lose because of that.  So, don't go too fast over
that jump.  After you land, turn to the left and head for the last checkpoint
of the lap.

Clouded Vision
****************************
OPPONENT CAR:

This track is tight and twisty, so you want handling and acceleration.

At the start of the race, go up the highway offramp on the right.  Head down
the highway, but get ready to cross to the other side of the road once you hit
the suspension bridge.  Go down the offramp on the left side of the road after
you're off the bridge.

You now need to go into an alley on the right side of the road.  You should see
it as you're getting off the ramp.  Cut across the pavement on the right side
of the road to get to it.  Use caution in this alleyway, because it's very
narrow and it's easy to get caught on a telephone pole.  Hang a right at the
end of the alleyway.

Go right on this street when you get a checkpoint signalling you to go right. 
At the second intersection after that turn, head left.  Head right again when
you reach the next intersection, then left yet again.  You're now heading
towards the castle.  Get ready to go through the wooden doors that one of the
upcoming checkpoint is in front of.  When you reach the crossroads in the
castle passageways, make a sharp left turn into the correct passage.

Jump over the canal wall at the end of the hall, and turn right at the next
checkpoint.  Head right again when you reach the next checkpoint.  Go left at
the next checkpoint, and then right again.  You are headed for the entrance to
the highway.  Take the left tunnel, and blast down the long, straight road. 
You want to take the right ramp when you get to the end.

Head to the left at the end of that ramp, and get ready to leave the highway. 
You need to head down a ramp on the left side of the road up ahead.  It's
marked by the next checkpoint.  Hit the next checkpoint up ahead, and follow
the broad curve that goes to the left.  Get ready to make a left turn into the
alley before the train station.  At the end of that alley, make another left
turn.  Go right when you hit the bridge, and tag the next checkpoint to finish
the lap.

Bullet Train II

OPPONENT CAR:

Most of this race is long and straight, so you want top speed here.

At the start of the race, accelerate down the train tracks.  Try for a
Slip-stream Turbo here to get an early lead.  When you get to the fork up
ahead, go left, and then turn left into an alley.  Once you're past the
buildings, turn right and head for the next two checkpoints.  Get ready to turn
right again after the second checkpoint.  You'll have to go down and up again
in the trench sidewalk.  Once you're through there, go left, and then turn left
again at the next intersection.

Turn left once again at the next intersection.  Turn right onto the highway
bridge on up ahead, and then crash through the railing on the left when you hit
the next checkpoint.  Accelerate down the street towards the castle.  The next
checkpoint is in front of the wooden doors to the passageways beneath the
castle.  Go through the doors, and get ready to make a small right turn when
you reach the crossroads down there.  Jump up over the canal wall to the next
checkpoint.

Make a right turn and head east through the trees in the park to the next
checkpoint.  Accelerate down the street you get on.  At the end of the road,
make a right turn, and get onto the ramp on the right nearby to get on the
train tracks.  Go down the train tracks, but turn off once you reach the wharf.
 You need to land on the road that aims you at the canal jump here.  Go over
the canal jump, and you'll land near the train station.

Go counter-clockwise around the roundabout up ahead, and go back the way you
came.  If you're in the lead at this point, beware of falling cars!  Hang a
right turn at the end of the road, and then turn right again under the train
tracks.  Up ahead, you should see the ramps that will take you up onto the
tracks.  Take it easy when going up the ramp, because it's easy to go too fast
and fall off the tracks.  Go down the tracks towards the finish line for this
lap.  Note that you CAN stay on the ground to hit the checkpoints on the
tracks, but it's slower.

6: CARS

I'm sure you know what this is.  Basically, I'll list all the car's stats, and
then I'll write a paragraph or two about the car.  Lemme give you some
explanation on the stats.

EXAMPLE

ACCELERATION - How fast the car can gather speed

HANDLING     - How well the vehicle can turn

NITROUS      - How many nitros the car has

DRIVETRAIN   - This is which set of wheels get the engine's power.  A FWD car
has its front wheels driving the car, and a RWD car has its rear wheels driving
the car.  FWD cars tend to be more stable around corners and understeer, while
RWD cars tend to slide more around corners and have oversteer.  Because FWD
cars are more stable, they are more suitable for races in the rain.

WEIGHT       - How heavy the vehicle is.  Light cars tend to turn quicker, but
they tend to get thrown around by collisions more.  Heavy cars tend to turn
slower, but they can take collisions without losing as much speed or momentum.

WON FROM     - Where you win the vehicle from.

One more thing...  Please note that while the game provides stats for all the
cars, some of them aren't necessarily true.  For example, the game stats say
that the Saikou XS's cornering is worse than the Torque JX's cornering.  That
is not true.  The Saikou XS has much better cornering, since it keeps its speed
up around corners, while the Torque JX must slow down around turns.

Also, this vehicle can do something none of the other cars can, which is a
wheelie!  Simply do a burnout like you would with any other car, and the front
end of this car will rise up into the air when you let go of the handbrake! 
While this does look cool, you won't be able to turn well while your front end
is in the air.  This can mess you up when you need to make a turn right after
the start of a race.

INTERNA

so use caution while driving about on a bike.

by collisions because of its heavier weight.  You know, I like this car so

power up again after every crash.  The cornering also isn't so great,
especially at high speeds.  I recommend this car for more advanced drivers.

allows it to plow right through obstacles, however.  This vehicle is best
suited for long, straight tracks with gentle curves.

This car's acceleration doesn't pick up much at first, but it will once you
start gathering some speed.  This car also has a fairly high top speed.  It
can't turn too good though, as it tends to understeer and/or slide around. 
Also, it doesn't react well to collisions, since it's a bit lightweight.

VORTEX 5

Think of this car as the Alarde of Tokyo.  It has stellar acceleration and

tight, twisty tracks.  This car is also good for rain races.

This car has killer acceleration and top speed, and the cornering isn't so bad

easy to oversteer and hit the inside wall on a turn.  Even if you don't hit the
wall, you'll lose a lot of speed trying to correct your course.  You need to
turn this car around corners just enough to make it, but not too much.

KNIGHT

This is the absolute best handling car in the rain.  It's also probably the
best handling car period.  Almost no turn is too tight for this vehicle.  The
acceleration is also fantastic.  The top speed is lacking compared to the other
stats, but not overly so.  If this car is well driven, it can even give the
ultimate trio cars a run for their money.

NOUSAGI

This is the last and fastest motorcycle in the game.  It can corner easily, and

how insanely fast and responsive this thing is before you will stop falling off
your bike every ten seconds.

SAIKOU XS

This is the first car of what I like to call the "ultimate trio".  This vehicle
has stellar cornering, acceleration, and top speed, but both of the other two
cars in the ultimate trio will defeat it when it comes to top speed.  If it
comes down to cornering though, this car will come out on top.  The in-game
stats lie when they say that the Torque JX and the Veloci have better cornering
than this vehicle.

TORQUE JX

This is the second car in the ultimate trio.  The cornering and acceleration
aren't so hot compared to the other trio cars.  Even though the game's stats
say that this car has better cornering than the Saikou XS, it doesn't.  You
lose a lot of speed around turns, while the Saikou XS can keep the speed
better.  However, it will outrun both the Veloci and the Saikou XS if the race
comes down to top speed.

VELOCI

This is the third and final car of the ultimate trio.  This vehicle is all
around great in every category, and it's good for almost every race.  It also
has the advantage of five nitros against the Saikou XS's three and the Torque
JX's four.  It even has a boost feature for extra acceleration.  To use the
boost feature, press R1 when accelerating above 60 mph.  Just don't use it
while you're turning or you'll spin out.  There is one big weakness that this
car has though.  It's extremely lightweight, so the handling tends to be
squirrely.  Also, it doesn't react well to collisions.

Personally, I find this vehicle to be boring.  My reasons are because this car
is easy to use, and because almost everyone online uses it.  The Tokyo Cop is
much more interesting to me.  It may be less versatile, but I think it is more
fun and rewarding to use once you learn how to drive it properly.  You just
experiment with both cars and see which one you like driving more.

NOTE:  The rest of these cars don't have actual stats that the game displays
for you, so I'm making my own measurements for Top Speed, Acceleration, and
Handling.

SLF450X
----------------

This vehicle easily has the fastest acceleration and highest top speed in the
game.  The cornering may not be as good as the speed though, but you can easily
outrun every other car in the game anyway.  It even has the boost feature,
which you can use with the R1 button after passing 60 mph.  Never use this car
online though, because it's Midnight Club 2's equivalent to Counterstrike's AWP
sniper rifle.  It's too easy to dominate with it, and so you may find a lot of
people whining about you using it.  Also, people may think you're a n00b who
cheated to get all the cars with codes.

to almost null at that time.  One really good thing about this car though is
that it's a virtual battering ram because of its heavy weight.  It can smash
through lots of things without losing much speed.  I tell you, crashing this
car through stuff brings back memories of the Marauder Taxi in the original
Midnight Club.

PARIS COP

problem with it is that it's lightweight, which means any wreck can be a pretty
nasty one.

TOKYO COP

line like a rocket.  The only reason most people don't use it though is because
of the loose cornering.  This car just can't seem to help but slide all over
the place.  Because of this, you need to turn just enough to get around the
corner, but not so much that you spin out.  Also, this car is somewhat light,
so it doesn't react well to collisions.  Despite its weaknesses, I like this
car.  It can compete with the best cars in the game, yet you won't find
yourself in a crowd of these.

He's the very first opponent you'll have to race.  He is really fat, and loves
eating.  He's also nice towards newcomers.  He's not a very good racer, but
he'll be something like your guide while you're racing in Los Angeles.

STEVEN
----------------
Steven is obsessed with the techical part of racing.  He spends most of his
time tinkering with parts on his car to give him an advantage.  He often speaks
about racing in a technical way, and thus it's hard for anybody but fellow
gearheads to understand him.

MARIA
----------------
Maria is a hot blooded Hispanic, and she won't hesitate to get in your face
when you challenge her.  Her older brother Hector is protective of her.

ANGEL
----------------
He is the son of a Hollywood movie producer.  He thinks he's the king of the
world and can do whatever he wants.  Despite his name, he has no problems
cheating people in races or destroying their cars.

DIEGO
----------------
He is Angel's father.  When he's not working on his movies, he likes racing
around in his classic muscle car.  He's getting on in his years though, and
isn't as sharp as he once was.  He'll teach you how to use the Burnout
technique.

GINA
----------------
Gina is one of the major characters in the game.  She is pretty annoying and
has a habit of getting into trouble, but she'll cheer you on when nobody else
will.  She'll be something like your girlfriend for the rest of the game after
you leave Los Angeles.  She also gives you a lot of tips throughout the game.

MAURO
----------------
This person leads the motorcycle gang in Los Angeles.  However, since we never
see his face or hear his voice, there's not much else I can say about him.

HECTOR
----------------
Hector is Maria's older brother.  He is very hot tempered like Maria, only even
more so.  Don't push him too much, or he might tear you to pieces.

DICE
----------------
He's the champ of Los Angeles, and he's also a Vin Diesel rip-off.  Not much
else to say about him.

BLOG
----------------
Blog is an acquaintance of Gina's, and he will be the first person you race in
Paris.  He comes from England and he is a DJ.  He is very arrogant.

JEWEL & JULIE
----------------
These two sisters are some of the best racers in Paris.  They've lived here for
a good while, so they have good knowledge of the streets.  Julie often likes to
flirt with her male opponents to put them off guard, while Jewel only cares
about winning on the track without using any other means.

PRIMO
----------------
Primo is by far one of the most annoying characters in the game with his
ridiculous Italian accent.  He's gotten bored of racing F1 cars around in
circles, so he's decided to change over to street racing for more excitement. 
He is skilled at precision driving, so he can navigate the winding streets of
Paris easily.  Expect to be driven crazy by his constant stream of insults.

STEPHANE
----------------
Stephane knows the streets of Paris better than anyone else.  This is a big
advantage to him.  However, a lot of new foreign racers are coming in and
stealing his thunder.  He is not very happy with this.

IAN
----------------
Ian is from Australia.  He's had trouble picking a hobby, so he just picked
racing to fill that spot.  Most of the reason he's racing is just to show off
to his friends.  Even though he doesn't truly care about racing, he's not
exactly awful at it.  He also leads the motorcycle gang in Paris.

FARID
----------------
Farid is an Algerian fugitive running from the law.  He is quite literally an
underground street racer, as he wants to race you in the catacombs to keep a
low profile.  He'll stab you in the back though, and use you as a distraction
to lure away Inspector Owen.

OWEN
----------------
Inspector Owen is hot on the trail of Farid in Paris.  He talks kind of like
Sherlock Holmes.  He is after some documents of Farid's, which he says are
hidden inside his Stadt which he gave you.  Oddly though...instead of arresting
you, Owen wants to race you...

PARFAIT
----------------
She was once a famous fashion model, but now that she's grown old and lost her
looks that time is past.  Now she's the Paris champ.  She's always sour from
never getting modelling contracts like she once did, so she takes out her rage
on those who challenge her.

RICKY
----------------
Ricky is the guy who screwed Gina over when she took a job at his club.  Now
he's stolen away the Vortex 5 you won from Primo for her, and she's in trouble
with the Yakuza.  You need to defeat Ricky and get that car back.

SHING
----------------
Shing is an arrogant guy, since he's got tons of money.  He hates newcomers,
and you're no exception.  Despite his arrogance and the way he brags about his
skill, he seems to be awfully afraid of losing.  Notice how he forces you to
beat a time trial of his and his buddy Ichiro before you can race him.  Maybe
if you beat him he'll stop being such a prick.  Then again...maybe not.

ICHIRO
----------------
Ichiro is Shing's racing partner, and he's just as much of a prick as Shing is.
 Ichiro can't wait until somebody defeats Shing and humbles him.  You have to
beat him before Shing will race you.

HALEY
----------------
Haley was fed up with the slim pickings of import cars and parts in America, so
she's decided to move over to Japan so it will be a lot easier for her to get
hold of them.  She absolutely hates guys who try to show off to her, and loves
beating the crap out of them in races.  Expect her to get very aggressive
during races.

NIKKO
----------------
Nikko is probably the most annoying Tokyo racer.  His ridiculous fashion sense
is enough to turn somebody off without his voice to go with it.  He proclaims
that he is a proud rice boy, and wants to become the best racer ever.

ZEN
----------------
Zen must think he's a samurai or something with the way he talks.  He takes his
racing very seriously, and has superb skills with his motorcycle from lots of
focused practice.  He also leads the motorcycle gang in Tokyo.

KEN'ICHI
----------------
He is a prominent figure in the Yakuza, and he is the one you need to deal with
to save Gina.  It would be wise not to screw around with him, since people who
do often have a bad habit of dying early.  If you beat him fairly though, he
will respect you.

MAKOTO
----------------
Makoto is a wealthy businessman, and as such is able to afford a very expensive
car that allows him to dominate everyone in Tokyo.  He says very few words, and
he's only interested in how skilled you are.  In my opinion, he's not really
anything more than a warmup for Savo.

SAVO
----------------
Savo is the world champion of the Midnight Club.  Nobody has been able to beat
him, but Savo really wishes somebody would because he's sick of being the
champ.  Expect to spend quite a bit of time with him once you reach him, since
he has six excruciatingly difficult races for you.  He will also affectionately
call you "asswipe" all the time.  Both of these factors tend to cause losses of
sanity while you race him.

Q: I completed Career mode, but I still don't have 100% game completion.  What
do I have to do to get 100%?

A: Complete the all the Circuit races for each city in Arcade mode, in addition
to finishing Career mode.

Q: How do I unlock the police cars?

A: Complete all the Circuit races in the city that has the police car you want.
 For example, complete all Los Angeles Circuit races to get the LA Cop.

Q: I completed a city.  When I go to Career races in Arcade mode and go to the
Racer option, all of the city's racers are there, but one is still locked.  Who
is the locked racer and how do I challenge him?

A: That's Savo, the world champion.  Once you get to him by beating every other
racer in the game, he will challenge you to six races, with two races in each
city.  This is why there's a locked racer in every city even after you complete
it (until you beat one of Savo's races in that city, that is).

Q: I can't use the bikes good, because the camera keeps changing to these
annoying angles whenever I do a special move.  Is there a way to get rid of
these camera shots?

A: Yes, actually.  Go to Options, and choose the Game options.  Go to the
Cinematic Camera option, and turn it off.  This makes the bikes about ten times
easier to use.

Q: I read about a code called "bangedup".  It's supposed to let you have
traffic in Cruise mode while you're playing online after you get 100%.  Why
doesn't it work?

A: The "bangedup" code is fake.  It will not work when you try to use it.

Q: What's an easy way to tell if a code is fake or real?

A: Input a code on the Cheat Codes option.  If the code is a real code, it will
vanish from the text box when you press "Accept".  If it's a fake, the code
will remain in the text box.

Q: How do I press the L3 and R3 buttons?

A: Press down on one of your analog sticks, like it's a button.  The left stick
is L3, and the right stick is R3.
