Red Faction II
Review by TekPhin17
"One Of The Best FPS's On The Market Today, Hands Down!!!"
I've played plenty of First Person Shooters in my day. But his game beats almost all of them. Stellar gameplay matched with a great story. This is definetley a must buy for anyone who calls themselves a fan of Halo.
This is where Red Faction 2 really excels. Basically its still the same system as the first, accept with a few welcome additions. For one, you can now equip two guns at the same time, and fire them seperately. This feature really comes in handy when your pinned down without any especially good weapons around. The Geo-Mod is back, and better than ever. You can't tunnel as many walls as you did in RF1, but the destruction this time around is alot more realistic and believable. Multiplayer with 4 of your buddies to me is even more enjoyable than the single game. You have over 15 massive multiplayer levels to choose from. And not to mention about 20 different skins to choose from, and a profile that will keeps track of all your wins, kills, losses, flag captures, etc.
You play as a demolitions expert named Alias. He is a Red Faction member years and years after the events of the first game. Your crew is very diverse, ranging from a sniper, to a heavy weapons expert. As you progress through the game, you get to combine Alias's abilities and talents with that of your sqaud. Together you try and over throw the tyrannical Commonwealth leader, Sopot. Througout the game, there are many twists and turns in the story, so get ready for a rollercoaster ride full of alliances, backstabbings, and revenge.
The graphics in this game are very smooth and flowing, alot better than the original blocky look, which was one of the first games major flaws. This time however, Volition fixed that and has made a fantastic looking game.
Rent or Buy
Anyone who calls themselves an FPS fan should be ashamed to not play this game. At least rent it, since the game does border on the shorter side, you may possibly be able to beat in a rental. Anyone who is not a big FPS fan may still enjoy this game. Invite some of your buddies over and I guarentee that you'll have a blast. Replayability is a key factor when deciding whether to rent or buy, and this game definitley has plenty of replayability. You owe it to yourself to own this little jewel.
