"A Good Simpsons Game With Minor Problems"
The Simpson's hit GTA land with a non-violent, more funny approach. Lets check it out.
First off, The developers do make the game non-violent by having people drive you around instead carjacking them, but who cares about this? The thing you can do, is run around and kick the crap out of people. I ran up to Smithers and kicked his ass down a hill, it was great. I love running around kicking my most hated Simpson's characters in the family jewels. After finding Ned's belongings in one mission, I kicked him square in the nads and ran for it. It was sweet.
Anyway, the bad thing about the game is that all the missions consist of the same thing. Race somebody, collect items that's fallen out of cars, arrive somewhere in a certain time, or ram cars until they explode Driver style. Nothing more than this. The game is mainly always under a time limit too, so it's kind of annoying.
Some complain about the graphics in this game. The graphics are not suppose to look better than GTA. It's suppose to look cartoony to keep the Simpson's feel to it, which I think they did excellent on. The sound is great, funny dialog and cool music here and there that fit well with the series. The game is one big episode too and has a storyline but it's kind of dumb.
The controls are all top notch here. If you have played any video game that consists of running, jumping, and driving then you will control the game just fine. The Xbox controller responds well with the game. Even double jumps can be executed with ease, which can be a problem in some games that contain this feature.
The levels are huge too. There are TONS of things to collect throughout each level too. The amount of levels + tons to collect in each + unlockables in each + side missions + side races = tons of replay value. The game is pretty damn long, and that's new for a Simpson's game. Each level has their own character too, so you can play as more than one character.
The game has tons of platforming elements in it to while collecting items and such. The cars are fun to drive and get damaged just like GTA's do. Each level has a bunch of cars that came out of the series too. You can drive things from Willy's tractor, to Auto's School Bus, to the super fast Malibu Stacey car. It's fun.
The levels also have all the locations from the show too. You will recognize all kinds of things you have seen in the show, even minor things like the tire yard from the that one field trip episode where Wendell pukes on the bus.
Also, the game has costumes to collect from each level too. Four for each level. You can buy Homer' Moomu or just run around in his tighty whiteys. Lisa can buy her ''hip'' look from the episode where she tries to be cool on vacation, and you can buy her Florida costume from the episode where Marge is addicted to gambling. It's awesome how much this game contains so much Simpson's classic stuff.
I thought the game was really fun. The main missions get repetitive but their still quite fun to do. The best part is collecting everything hidden in the levels and just cruising around town checking out the Springfield sites.
I give it a 7/10. Would definitely be a 9 if the missions had more variety. Check it out if you are a Simpson's fan.
