"Put the pedal to the metal!"

The newest addition to the Need for Speed series, Carbon sees the player come to a place named Palmont City, where car crews are vying for territory and power. You are thrown into the middle of it all, and start your own crew and race to own the roads.

Career- 7/10
Career is good, but it is very short. I managed to get to the last few races in about 7 hours, maybe a bit less. The structure is good and more realistic, like in your first few races, instead of getting 200 or 300 a race, you get 5,00 a race!. The pursuits are excellent, and there is a wide range of cars to choose from.

Aftermarket Customisation- 9/10
In this game, customisation is taken to a whole new level, especially with Autosculpt. Autosculpt lets you make your own parts, choosing dimensions and such. You can even customise the paint-jobs. There are other new features, like ride height, the ability to move the vinyls on your car, new paint types and the fact that you have to order your parts before getting them.

Sound- 8/10
The sounds in this game are excellent, from the car engines to the music, and it makes you feel more in the game thn playing it. The tyres screeching when you do burnouts, or the sound of the Muscle car's engine, or even the people talking all sound very real.

Graphics- 9/10
The graphics in this game have been improved a lot, e.g. when it rains, you can see the water on the car, damage is actually in this, but it is just cosmetic, so you can see how badly crashes effect the paint-job e.t.c. The way light makes certain parts of the car brighter that others, the nitrous, the list is endless.

Gameplay- 9/10
The gameplay is very smooth, rarely lagging or anything. The cars are also very fluid, not lagging, like you could push the thumbstick to turn and it won't turn for a few seconds or anything like that.

Overall- 9/10
A very good game, and worth being in your collection.

Rent or Buy?- If you are a racing fan, buy it. If you aren't, I'd rent.
