Mission 7: Overturn

Nothing like an upside down world to get your day started. Jump up the floating platforms and make your way to the Eryx crystal wall and use the D-Pad to switch your weapon type and break the wall down. Inside the game will explain how to jump and use Eryx to break crystal in the floor; do this and then Angel Lift to another spot where you use Eryx to punch a vehicle. Continue until you reach your first fight in the mission.

Eryx is great for these battles, as it dishes out the heavy damage, protects Dante from the flaming floor, and a fully charged uppercut can break through even the Tyrant's charge. Use these new gauntlets to your advantage while making sure to evade attacks from smaller enemies.

After breaking through both doors for a short cutscene and then use Angel Lift/Boost and Demon Pull to proceed. When you reach the Eryx crystal wall, turn left and spot the Lost Soul #35 in the distance. Once you have the Lost Soul, break the Eryx crystal wall and proceed via the Angel Boosts.

When you reach a ramp that goes down to a fight with two Shielded Bathos, turn around and look for the small platform attacked to the building on the right and make your way to it. From this location, Demon Pull the container out and punch the Eryx crystal. Now turn around and Angel Boost to the platform on the right to gain access to the Gold Door - Divergent Slaughter and the Lost Soul #37 inside.

Head back outside to the container and look off to the left now for some glowing vines.

Copper Key #6 & Lost Soul #36

Using the Aquila's Round Trip attack, clear the vines and enter the room for the key. When you exit, Angel Lift twice to reach the Lost Soul nearby.

You can now continue through the container to a Large Vital Star and Angel Lift to another platform and continue to a quick scene. Continue until you spot the strange creature and then look left to spot an Angel Lift. Using Angel Boost directly across from the Divinity Statue, glide across and then Angel Lift to reach the new area which has an Argent Key #4 in the room nearby. Now return and continue to a fight.

Rage's are deadly due to their speed and attack combos. I suggest that you keep them airborne if possible and dwindle their life semi evenly. Why? Well, when you defeat the first Rage, the other will go crazy and become super powerful. Avoid it when glowing and then finish of the little life it has when open.

To continue, jump through the window that the little creature did and the look left to get the Lost Soul #38. Continue to the elevator and then right at the fork to find the Lost Soul #39 attached to the other side of the wall. Now make your way all the way up the elevator shaft via Angel Boost and Angel Lift.

When you reach the top floor, identified by two brown boxes, jump around the left side of the nearby boxes and Angel Boost back onto the platform to get the Lost Soul #40 on the other side. If you are having issues, take the long way counter-clockwise around the shaft to reach the other side. When you are ready, board the elevator and use the Eryx's Stomp attack to lower the elevator.

Enter the room and get the Lost Soul #41 before breaking the Eryx crystal with Stomp and continuing to a fight.

If you didn't see it in battle, highly unlikely, make sure to check the room for a Copper Door - Angelic Warfare. If you do not have a key, no worries, since the Copper Key #7 is located directly above and accessed via the Angel Lift and turning around to spot it. Now continue to the Divinity Statue and get the Lost Soul #42 hanging on the opposite wall.

Using the Angel Lift nearby, exit the area and head down the walkway until a major disaster blocks your path. Using Angel Lift and Angel Boost, make your way to the old man for a fight.

The mission will end directly after the fight.

.

Mission 8: Eyeless

Watch the cutscene and then Angel Boost down to the old man for another scene. Using Angel Lift, follow the Harpies until the layout of the structure changes and the floor falls away. Angel Lift up the left side of the building and break the Eryx crystal doorway to proceed.

Copper Door - A Taste of Heaven & Lost Soul #43

After breaking through the first Eryx crystal wall, look right to spot some glowing vines that require the Aquila. Inside is the Lost Soul and Copper Door.

Continue through the next Eryx crystal doorway to get a Small Vital Star and the head back to the previous room and Demon Pull the platform to Angel Lift forward. Head toward the subway tunnel, but be wary of the trains that go barreling by. Once they have passed, head left to get the Lost Soul #44 before continuing right.

Follow the path and watch the lights on the side of the tracks. If the lights turn red, get to the other side of the track asap you be hit by the incoming train. Follow the path to a sunken section where you'll encounter a fight.

Instead of following the obvious path, head up into the subway shaft that you have not explored and follow it to an alcove with angelic vines and the Argent Key #5 beyond it. Now return to the station and take the side route to a Divinity Statue, shooting the Demonic Shards that pop up and try to kill you.

Follow the Harpies, but when you see the open gates on each side, stop for the Argent Door - Moderate Traversal and Lost Soul #45. Continue, killing more Demonic Shards, and the drop into the large glass room. Demon Pull the eye out and initiate a fight.

As a reminder, the Lost Soul #43 and Copper Door - A Taste of Heaven are behind this.

When you are ready, return outside to the old man.

.

Mission 9 - Devil Inside

After the cutscene, follow the path to break through an Arbiter wall and eventually you should see the Lost Soul #48 behind some angelic vines. Continue for a scene and then Angel Boost down the platforms to the Nephilim's wing for a new enemy.

The shield she cast on herself, or others, can only be broken with angelic weapons, so switch to Osiris or Aquila to break it. Once broken, all weapons damage the witch so switch if needed.

After the fight, Angel Lift twice and then Demon Pull to reveal another Angel Lift and then continue to Angel Lift and Angel Boost until you reach the floating relic. Once again Dante will enter a dream, but this time a simple Angel Boost and Angel Lift will release the demon and grant Dante the ability to use Devil Trigger. Use it now and take out the enemies.

Don't be afraid to Devil Trigger and take out the Witch first.

The Gold Door - Subsistence is located out in the open of this room, but you may not have a spare key right now. Return to the area where you entered to hear the cries of the Lost Soul #49, which can be gotten by jumping out and Angel Boosting back onto the walkway on the other side of the stone wall. Now Angel Lift to the end of the level.

Mission 10 - Bad News

Mission 10 is short and sweet with a quick platforming section at the beginning. Once you reach the tower you'll have to platform across more white platforms to reach Bob.

.

BOB BARBAS BOSS FIGHT

Let's go over the basics of how to kill Bob and then I will go over each of the types of attacks so you can avoid them.

Firstly, Bob is immune to attack while he is active and in color. In order to make him open for attack you will need to equip Eryx. Stick to the outside of the arena and use Stomp to break the glowing red spots on the floor. Bob will then go dark and you can attack him. When he takes enough damage his eye will become an Angel Lift which takes you into a TV newscast full of Stygian that you'll have to live through.

You will need to deplete his health three times to finally kill him.

.

Attacks while Active

  • Blue = A large pulse of energy will come straight at Dante, but can be easily avoided by evading to either side
  • Purple = Three rays of energy are shot out close to the ground and circle the arena. Double jump or Angel Boost over these.
  • Green = Two rays of energy start open and close in on Dante. Double jump straight up to avoid these.
  • White = A checkered wall of energy emanates from Bob outward with the safe squares lined in green. If you fun in either direction you should be able to stay on the ground and stay within every of square (which are safe).

You get the Aquila weapon for beating Bob and finish the mission.

.

Angel Lift up the platforms and use Aquila to tear the angelic vines to shreds and continue inside. Use Eryx to break the wall to reach a Divinity Statue and then break the flooring to proceed. Using Aquila, tear through both sets of angelic vines and grab the Small Vital Star in the far room. Drop into the room below and find the small room with the Lost Soul #50.

Dreamrunners are just plain annoying. Arbiter will knock it off guard enough to get in some hits, but launching it is the best way to get damage in. Despite a desire to stay in the air though, back off after a few hits before the Dreamrunner knocks you down himself. Devil Trigger is great for these, but it is possible to finish them off without it. Note that they are always vulnerable to attack after attacking from a teleportation.

Lost Soul #56

There is a Lost Soul high above in the library, but it is difficult to get to. The best option is hope that the Butchers ranged attacks will knock it down for you, but the other option is using a Stygian to jump off of and boost yourself up.

Run into the next room to finish the mission.

Mission 12: Under Siege

There are no collectibles in this mission, so feel free to play through on your own if you wish, but I will still cover it.

It's time for Dante to be the ghost as he helps Kat make her way to Vergil. As Kat paints the circles on the columns, Demon Pull them down to protect Kat from the SWAT team and then pull down the wall to create an escape for her. For the first part of this mission that is all you will be doing, following Kat and using Demon Pull to create a path for Kat or protect her. When you reach Vergil's chamber the real fun begins.

Vergil will be under attack and since he seems busy doing something else it is time to protect him.

Mission 14: Last Dance

.

MUNDUS' SPAWN BOSS FIGHT

There are two different health bars in this fight because there are two different enemies: Lilith and the baby. Killing the baby does not actually win the baby, but it does bring out Lilith, your real target.

While the baby takes damage no matter where you attack it, the spot of interest is the protruding arm on the right side of its body that you can Angel Lift to and deal massive damage. Doing enough damage will also cause the large eye on the forehead to open and allow you to Angel Lift to. Damage these locations until he is out of life.

Phase I Attacks

  • The main attack you will face is the baby's arm swipe on the ground and in the air
  • Sometimes, usually after the baby teleports away, the baby will slam its fist on the ground and damage anything nearby, but it also radiates a circle of damage that you'll need to jump over.

Once the baby falls you will be able to Demon Pull Lilith's legs from his abdomen and go all out for a short period of time. Once she returns to the body the environment's look will change and so will a few of the baby's attacks. Also note that the arm on the side of the body will need to be Demon Pulled before you and Angel Lift to it.

Phase II+ Attacks

  • The baby's arm swipe will not attack twice.
  • The slam's area effect will now have 4 waves with the last 2 being extremely close together (Angel Boost over the last set)
  • Sometimes the baby will throw a disco ball at you, but this is a really rare attack

Don't get too caught up in your damage output and make sure to pause once in a while to avoid the attacks. It is more important to not die than it is to get off the best combo in the world.

.

Mission 15: The Trade

After the cutscene with a very fucked up Vergil, dude is fucking crazy, you have to help Kat and Vergil escape.

You will likely want to play this level twice: once for items and once for the rating. During the slow-mo, Angel Lift to the back of the car and then jump to the container nearby on the right to Demon Pull the cart out of the way. As the car continues to almost crash into more containers, Angel Lift to the back of the car and then jump onto the pile of containers. With Eryx, jump and use Stomp multiple times to break the chains allow the car to safely fly over.

Instead of following the car, turn left and Angel Boost to the container yard and swing a right to find the Copper Key #9 by the water. You will likely have to restart the section to continue. As the shipyard begins to fall into the water, using the Angel Lift's to follow the car to a cutscene.

There are enemies here, but you can completely ignore them unless you want an SSS rank on the level. To save the car from the ships spinning blades, Angel Boost across the gap and Demon Pull the propeller off and trigger another cutscene.

After the cutscene, Dante will be doing some truck surfing. As the truck crashes, look to the right and Angel Lift and Angel Boost to another cutscene. As the car is about to hit an oncoming train, look right and Angel Boost to the angelic vines nearby to get the Small Devil Trigger Star behind them. Head back to the island now and Demon Pull the bus into place.

Jump on the bus and then Angel Boost to the area on your left and climb the crates outside the building on the left and turn around to spot the Copper Key #10 across the way. You can then enter the building and kill the enemies before using Eryx on the support and end the level.

Mission 16 - The Plan

The first section of this mission is all traversal and Angel Lift/Boosting. Since it is fast paced and hard to explain, I will simply say that it is best to simply run between the Angel Lifts, since the ground may fall right where you are going to land if to land if you jump or boost when not needed. When you land you will have a fight on your hands.

The Witch will not appear straight away, so focus on the Elite Stygian until she appears. Once she does, use the Aquila to break her barrier and cause he to be stunned. You can focus on the finishing the Elite Stygian while she is unconscious and then finish her off at the end.
The second wave appears as you only have 30 seconds to enter the building. Start by attacking the easy targets to farm some points, but run for the entrance when time gets low.
The Dreamrunner is back for a real fight this time. Back up to force him to teleport and then use three Rebellion strikes followed by two Arbiter strikes and then an Arbiter launch to take him out quickly. If you want to be cautious, make him teleport over and over again to let you slowly dwindle his health away.

Head to the Divinity Statue and turn left toward the elevator, but break the door with Arbiter first to get the Lost Soul #64 before you board the elevator. You are dropped on the 86th floor and follow Kat's directions to a quick fight with two Elite Stygian and a Ravager. After the fight enter the doorway nearby to enter the skybridge. As you continue, be careful of the crushing wall and then enter the next room with holes in the floor. Make your way around the area, taking out the three Elite Stygian that attack and look for a small alley with two long holes and a small platform inbetween that leads to the stairwell. Taking the stairs up will lead you to the Lost Soul #67 and taking them all the way down will lead them to the Gold Door - Extreme Traversal.

When you are ready, use the Angel Lifts to get across the gap and then drop to floor 105 and fight the Lesser Stygian before getting the Small Devil Trigger Star on the conference table. Nearby you should see some angelic vines block the Lost Soul #68. Return to the main area and approach the closed elevator, which will open, and gather up the Lost Soul #69 and Lost Soul #70 inside. Now return to the upper level by using Angel Lift near the first of the three Lost Souls.

After the quick cutscene, wait for an opening in the laser beams to jump and Angel Boost through. The first two sets are straight forward, but the third set requires you to let yourself fall slightly before using Angel Boost. If you manage to make it through without getting hit be all 5 sets of lasers you will earn the trophy/achievement Now my coat's all charred. If you get hit, you can restart from the last checkpoint to earn this.

After the first three sets of lasers, you will encounter a fight with two Stygian and a Dreamrunner. The best strategy is to stay in the middle of the bridge and away from the lasers. Use Aquila on the Stygian and finish them before dealing with the Dreamrunner.

upon exiting the skybridge, turn left and get the Lost Soul #71 and then follow the other path to Vergil where you will get the weapon Kablooey. Upon exiting the elevator on the 154th floor, turn left and follow it all the way to the end and get the Lost Soul #72 before entering the skybridge.

Cross the breaking bridge and then check the room protected by angelic vines. Make sure to check the whole floor and open the Copper Door - Bait and Switch before hopping on the elevator. When you reach the top you'll have a fight on your hands.

After the fight, you'll have to run across the rotating debris. Angel Boost across the first two platforms and when it looks like there is nowhere to go, Angel Lift to a high walkway and then again to finish the level.

Mission 17 - Furnace of Souls

The Furnace of Souls is a dangerous place with a constant threat of an upwards inferno burning you to death as you jump across gaps. Start by timing your jump across the gap and heading right. After a few platforms you should encounter a Frost Knight and Hell Knight that you should have no problems dispatching them.

Instead of heading for the obvious path, look left and you should see an Angel Lift and Demon Pull. Start by Angel Boosting across the gap and then quick Demon Pull and Angel Lift to the ledge. Release the Lost Soul #73 and then use the small floating platforms off to the left to continue. Back on the path, check the back side of the current platform for the Lost Soul #74 and then use Angel Lift to reach a higher, larger, platform and prepare for a fight.

Before leaving the island, find the Lost Soul #57 hanging around on the other side of the arena. When you are ready, Angel Boost to the floating platform and use Demon Pull to advance. When you land on the long island, after using Demon Pull to uncover the Angel Lift, turn right and Angel Lift to another isolated island with the Ivory Key #1 behind some angelic vines. Now turn around and go back the way you came, but head straight.

The next section is dangerous if you are going for the trophy/achievement for not getting burned, as it is long. You will need to Angel Lift, Demon Pull, Angel Lift, Demon Pull and then land before you are set on fire.

When you land you will have to fight two Stygian and then you can release the Lost Soul #76 on the nearby wall. Instead of continuing on the path, look to the right for a Demon Pull and follow the path to the Gold Door - A Day in Hell. Return via the Angel Lifts and head right to continue. Continue left via and Angel Lift and Boost and then look behind you to spot a Large Devil Trigger Star. Return to the previous island, Angel Lift up to the next level, Aquila the angelic vines, and Demon Pull your way into the large arena.

The roughest combinations are those with the Dreamrunner. In the battle with the Tyrant, use Devil Trigger to deplete most of the Dreamrunner's health and then finish it off; you can then focus on the Tyrant. In the battle with the Witch, use Round Trip to break the Witch's shield and keep her occupied and away from casting spells. Focus on finishing the Witch before you turn any attacks on the Dreamrunner, but make sure to keep and eye on him to avoid being hurt too much.

Use the Angel Lifts to get to an island with the Lost Soul #77 and then continue to leave the mission. If you managed to take no damage from the Furnace of Souls you will earn the Every hero has a weakness.

.

Mission 18 - Demon's Den

Really Vergil, REALLY! Anyways, there are four tunnels that you will need to explore to complete this short round, so let's get going.

.

Tunnel 1: Bottom Left

Follow the tunnel to the end and look right BEFORE dropping down. The Lost Soul #78 is on a high ledge that can be reached with an Angel Boost. Once you release the Lost Soul, drop to the tunnel below and kickstart the generator with Demon Pull. Of course, this will start a fight.

Tunnel 2: Clockwise from above

Exit the generator room and head right to pass the Argent Door - Colossal Triumph and return to the main hall, shooting the Demonic Shards on the way.

.

Tunnel 3: Right of the entrance

As you make your way to this tunnel you should spot the Small Vital Star in the starting tunnel.

Make your way to the generator and look up to spot the Lost Soul #80 that can be jumped up to. Now, start the generator with another Demon Pull and trigger another fight.

.

Tunnel 4: Counter-clockwise

Head inside and when you reach the gap look down and to the left to spot another tunnel. Drop and follow the new tunnel to two Demonic Shards and the Argent Key #6 and then drop down to the generator room. Start the engine and deal with the final fight.

Normal DifficultiesLesser Stygian x6, Butcher
Enhanced DifficultiesStygian x4, Harpy x2, Butcher
Dante Must Die!Elite Stygian x3, Ravager, Butcher

Make your way back to the vault chamber, killing all Demonic Shards on the way. When you reach the main chamber you will have to solve the vault puzzle. Solving the puzzle is easy to do, simply line up the symbols with the statue.

.

Mission 19 - Face of the Demon

After the long cutscene, use Angel Lift and Angel Boost to get to solid ground while Vergil attacks Mundus. When the eye is exposed, use Angel Lift and Angel Boost to reach the eye and Demon Pull it out. After another length cutscene, Vergil and Dante will be inside a skyscraper with a Demon Pull icon nearby. Make your way through the building, using abilities as needed, until another cutscene. When you have control, Angel Lift back to solid ground and the real battle will begin.

.

MUNDUS BOSS FIGHT

Your target is Mundus' hands, destroy them with Arbiter and then Demon Pull out Mundus' eyes. That is your objective, now let's go over how Mundus tries to stop you.

Attacks

  • Slam with Left Fist - Mundus will hit the ground and a shockwave will flow out that you'll have to jump over
  • Slam with Right Fist - Mundus will mark the ground with a pulsing circle and smash down
  • Fireball with Right Fist - Mundus will raise his first in the air and create a fireball, dodge when you hear the whoosing of it being fired
  • Slam with Both Fists - Stay to the center or sides of the platform and jump as his fists hit the ground to avoid damage
  • Finally, Mundus may cover the platform with magma. If you see him lean towards the platform, run to the right side of the area and Angel Lift to the other platform or visa versus.

Once you have pulled out both eyes, Mundus will attack with a three fireball combo. Avoid them easily and use Arbiter on his face when he leans down to end the mission and Mundus.

.

Mission 20 - The End

Did you see that coming... cause I did.

.

FINAL BOSS FIGHT

There are only two things you need for this fight: Revenant and Arbiter.

The most commonly used attack at the beginning of the battle involves floating daggers being thrown at Dante. These are almost impossible to avoid, so it is best to shoot them with Revenant. Each round more will be spawned, starting at one and maxing at four. Other than that, all attacks are indicated by the drawing of a sword.

Each sword attack, whether on ground or from the air, can be evaded easily once you get the timing down. Holding the Demon trigger, wait for the attack and evade at the last mine. Follow this quickly with a Demon Pull and hits from Arbiter on the boss. Within no time, the boss will add a few new attacks to its arsenal.

Honestly, the best way to get the hang of this fight is to try it out. Just use Demon Evade to evade, follow it up by a Demon Pull, and then destroy the boss with the bonus damage.

This is in an Eryx Crystal doorway that is located on the right, directly after the fight that teaches the player how to use Ebony and Ivory.
