The Dark Brotherhood tried to kill me, but who sent them?
I was just peeing on a bush out in the wilds near Riften when a Kajiit tried to kill me. on his body was a note from Astrid saying "You're target is Conan (my characters name ^.^). you are to kill him buy any means nessecary. the Black Sacrament has been performed, somebody wants this poor fool dead. Astrid" I was a stormcloak and won the war, then discoverd all the ousted former Jarls and their housecarls in the basment of the Blue Palace. They all where pissed off as hell at me, maybe one of them sent the assassin?

Its possible. But its happened 2 me too anyways i think its just the games way of telling you their is a dark brotherhood in the game iv already beaten the DB quest but never actually found the person (or persons) who sent the hit so if you find out let me know as well cuz i was wondering the same.

You never find out who the person is that wanted you dead.
It's just a random thing. I've had it happen to me before.
All you find is a note, every single time. You'll never find out who sent them.
It's most likely the games way of telling you the Dark Brotherhood exists, and that you can still join them.

If you break in Maven Black-Briars house, you will find a locked room in the basement with a sacrifice to the Dark Brotherhood. Next to the sacrifice is a letter admonishing the DB for not completing her requested assassination on schedule and the threat that if it wasn't completed soon she would do it herself. I have often wondered if it was Maven who put the contract out on me!

I've had the same thing happen... as an example of why it happens (if it isn't a random event) is I was playing and "accidentally" killed Camilla Valerius and I'm assuming Lucan wanted me dead because of something he said to me after I killed the assassin and later went to the riverwood trader. I forget what exactly he said but the way it came out was either a perfectly placed randomly said thing or an surprised remark that I wasn't dead form an a assassination attempt.
