    Serendipity - (In-Depth) (Continued)

    Slot Machines

    Head inside the building on the right and you will be in the Hall of Gambling. There are two things here, the Slot Machines and the Card Tables (DLC only). Head straight in and talk to the owner in the back. Talk to the Casino Vendor on the right to trade your tickets into coins. You can talk to everyone else for more information, but I'm gonna hop straight into a machine.

    There are three modes to the slot machines:

    Normal

    • You play 5 coins at a time and the payout is limited. You can get to Victory Mode by aligning three 9's and Super Victory by aligning thre Ochus.

    Victory

    • You play 10 coins at a time. You can reach Super Victory by aligning three Ochus. This mode will end if you get three Cactuar or a Bomb on the left hand side.

    Super Victory

    • You play 100 coins, but the payouts are great. There is a 50% chance the mode will end if you get 3 Moogles in a row.

    The other factor to take into account is the 'Mood' of the machine. The girl outside it will tell you the mood. This affects the overall payout of the machine. Consult the table below.

    Fragment Skills

    The Mystic, in the left building, will open up Fragment Skill. These skills are extremely awesome bonuses. Just for talking to the Mystic the first time you will get the Improved Moogle Throw, which gives you access to tons of Adornments. You can activate and deactivate these manually through the Fragment Skill menu inside your Main Menu.

    Archylte Steppe - (In-Depth)

    The Steppe is the ultimate leveling area. With the ability to change the monsters to your level liking by changing the weather, you can get a huge customizable farming and level. I will be listing all of the enemies that appear on the Steppe in a bit, but first let's go over the special targets you will want to go after later in the game.

    Opening The Vile Peaks [200 AF]

    Spawned by the green waystones on the field, the Gigantuar can pack a punch for low-level parties.

    There are actually three different spawns for this guy and if you defeat all three you will unlock the following:

    • The gate in the Grave Ridge area and get access to Vile Peaks [200 AF]
    • The Fragment: Ochu Fragment quest.
    • The Fragment: Fragment of Invincibility quest.

    • The best SEN you will probably have for a while is a Bunkerbeast (lvl. 30)
    • With Deprotect and Deshell on you will do more damage, since you can't stagger him.
    • The monster crystal is 100% drop, but once you beat all 3 Gigantuar you can not face him again (even if you close the gate). Don't release it on accident.

    Fragment: Ochu Fragment

    Once you defeat the 3 Gigantaur's head to the Nomad Village and change the weather to Rainy. (You may need to leave and come back too).

    Talk to Tipur and he should give you this quest.

    Getting this Fragment isn't hard at all, since all you have to do is have a SEN and a MED that can outheal the damage it takes. Getting 5 star rating on the other hand is where the challenge lies. The setup for this guy is a little more difficult than the previous.

    • Be sure you have a Synergist has Bravery and Enfire, I suggest Thexteron.
    • Be sure you have a Ravager has Fire-based attacks.
    • Be sure you have a Medic has Cura. I suggest Flanitor if you are in the early part of the game. Later game players can use Green Chocobo or whatever they use.

    Begin in Superiority (SAB, SYN, SYN) and cast Protectra, Vigilance and Veilga with either Noel or Serah and getting Enfire and Bravery from your SYN.

    We want to take out the Microchu first, so switch to any paradigm with COM's and RAV's (and set to a -W paradigm type) and manually select two Blitz's. Finishing off any that are left afterwards.

    With the Microchu gone, switch to an attack paradigm like Relentless Assualt or Smart Bomb to build the Chain Gauge and/or cast Deshell and Deprotect Ochu. If Enfire wears, switch back to Superiority and back to Relentless Assault/Smart Bomb.

    When Ochu uses Screech, switch to a healing paradigm and then go back to Superiority to refresh your defensive buffs. Once again, get Bravery and Enfire on everyone and finish him with Relentless Assault.

    Note: If you are doing this post game, you can go all out on him with some heals.

    The first time you beat Ochu you will get the Ochu Fragment and 30,000 CP.

    Fragment: Fragment of Invincibility

    Once you defeat the 3 Gigantaur's head to the Nomad Village and change the weather to Cloudy. (You may need to leave and come back too).

    Talk to Myta and she should give you this quest.

    • Be sure you have a Synergist has Bravery and Enfire, I suggest Thexteron.
    • Be sure you have a Ravager has Fire-based attacks.

    As soon as the battle start you should be in Superiority-X (SAB, SYN, SYN). Get all the same buffs you used for Ochu and by the time you are done the Centaurion Blade will probably be summonded. Cast Deprotect on it and the Immortal.

    Switch to an attack paradigm to build Immortal's Chain Gauge. Around now you should see a notification for Electrocute. The trick to this fight is seeing the incoming Electrocute and switching to Tortoise (SEN x3) or Guarded Assualt (SEN, SEN , COM - if you use Piggybacks recommended Orion in your Paradigm Pack).

    After Electrocute, heal up with Discretion-W (if you can Orion). This allows you a big break in the battle to heal while Orion keeps the Chain Guage from falling.

    Switch back to Superiority-X to debuff the Centaurion Blade, which gets buffed after each Electrocute. Make sure it's buffs are Dispeled and then you can stagger it. Once it is staggered, heal everyone up quickly. Now go you can switch to Cerberus-X and go all out on the Centaurian Blade.

    Once the Centaurian Blade is out of the way, you can stagger Immortal and take him out.

    The first time you beat Immortal you will get the Fragment of Invincibility and 30,000 CP.

    Fragment: Long Gui Fragment

    The Long Gui, as you previously saw, spawns where Faeryl was in Sunny weather. Change the weather and head down there to fight him.

    The first thing I suggest you do is make two Cerberus (COM x3) Paradigm Sets. The reason for this is the trick that allows you a full ATB if you switch from one Paradigm to another that is exactly the same. Simply switch when you use up all your attacks and you will have a new full set.

    • The best COM for this is Dragoon as he has lightning-based attacks.
    • The SEN doesn't matter much, but the best you probably have this early is the Bunkerbeast.
    • Be sure your SYN has Enthunder, Protect, and Shell. If you have a Purple Chocobo, that would be good. A good replacement is the Thexteron.

    The strategy for Long Gui is actually simple compared to the others. We have to take out Long Gui's legs so we can get him down and stagger him. We want most of our Paradigms to be -X so the AI focuses on single type attacks versus AOE's.

    Start by casting Imperil, Deshell, and Poison on the Left Leg while you let your SYN buff you. Switch to Tortoise (SEN x3) if see the notification for Ultima Attack. If you need to heal due to Ultima Attack or the stomps, switch to Hero's Charge-X (so you can get buffs while your heal and keep the Chain Gauge up). When you are healed switch back to Relentless Assault to stagger it. Now switch to Cerberus and finish the leg off.

    Repeat this for the other leg and watch out for Quake.

    Once both legs are staggered, Long Gui will fall. No matter your health, switch to your debuff paradigm and cast Deprotect, Deshell, Imperil, and Poison while getting EnThunder from the SYN. Switch to Relentless Assault and stagger it. Let the Chain Gauge get to 950% and then switch to Cerberus. Go all out, using the Paradigm Shift trice between the two Cerberus' and kill him.

    The first time you beat Long Gui you will get the Long Gui Fragment and 30,000 CP.

    Fragment: Yomi Fragment

    Once you have beaten Ochu you can leave to the Historia Crux and come back to talk to Tipur and accept this. Change the weather to Stormy and then grab a Chocobo to reach the waypoint in Grave Ridge.

    Yomi is the sole source of Trapezohedron, which you will need to purchase the Sagittarius and Mac an Luin weapons.

    Before you even consider fighting Yomi, you should be max level and probably use Physical or Magical Resistance accessories.

    • The weapons dropped by Immortal will help you considerably in this fight with their ATB Rate: +50%.
    • Any SEN with lots of HP is required, but Bunkerbeast will probably be yours if you haven't made ultimate tamed monsters.
    • A high-level SAB (likely Dendrobium) with Wound and Poison is a must.
    • Make sure your SYN has Bravega and Faithga. I suggest Yakshini, but you can always supplement this with whatever you want.

    Start the battle by casting Vigilance, Protect, Shell, and Veil on everyone while your allies cast debuffs on Yomi. This will take you midway through the first Impenetrable Aura. From now on, after every Impenetrable Aura you need to switch to Infiltration (SAB x3) and Poison Yomi. Poison is where most of the damage will do, since you can not attack him during his Aura, but Poison can.

    Once Poison is active, shift to Convalescense-W (MED, ME, SYN) to heal all that damage and get Bravega and Faithga. If you are lucky and Yomi hasn't cast another Impenetrable Aura, switch to an attack paradigm. When Yomi goes for Impenetrable Aura, heal up and then Poison him again.

    Continue this pattern until about halfway through the fight when Yomi starts to use Wicked Whirl. When you see this notification, switch to Tortoise (SEN x3) straight away. Then heal up and continue the pattern.

    The first time you beat Yomi you will get the Yomi Fragment and 30,000 CP.

    Live Trigger's are event related questions you are asked in a conversation. Depending on your answer, you can earn Adornments for your Tamed Monsters.

    The first time you play through an area you have access to every question in the zone, but on subsequent playthroughs (via Closing Gates) you may not have access to them all. That being said, there is always enough questions with funny answers to get either Adornment.

    If you do NOT meet either Adornments requirement you will get a Potion.

    Temporal Rift Puzzles

    For the most part, the Temporal Rift Puzzles are easy. The only exception to this is the Hands of Time puzzles, so I am going to cover it in the most detail.

    .

    Tile Trails

    These puzzles are the first you will run into and are failry easy. The object is to grab all the crystals and then walk to the gate. If you run out of tiles, you will have to try again.

    Red Tiles

    • These can only be walked over once and will disappear

    White Tiles

    • These can be walked over twice before they disappear

    .

    Crystal Bonds

    These puzzles are not hard, but are time sensitive. Your objective is to connect the crystals in the required pattern. The only thing that can really trip you up is the fact that the crystals will change color every 3 seconds. You can stop this by grabbing a crystal strand though.

    The Hands of Time

    Easily the hardest puzzles in the game, these will start out easy and get harder each level you play. Your object is to clear the clock of all the numbers without having both hands end on empty spots. This means you need to make sure that whatever number you pick, at least one hand will end on a number. Once you have 1 number left and have a hand move to it, you can advance to the gate.

    Because these puzzles are usually random spawn, I can only cover tips for you.

    • Hands that are half the clocks value will always only have one possible move, since both hands will land on the same number. Use this to plan the moves before and after its value.
    • In the larger clocks, taking out the small numbers will make you have a smaller clock with less values. This will help you see the puzzle more clearly. The only negative is that you may need those small numbers to traverse the large ones.
    • Don't try to plan out the whole puzzle ahead of time. There is no ONE solution. Try taking out a few numbers before slowing down and seeing what you have left.
    • NEVER give up. Even when it seems like something isn't working, keep trying different variations. Sometimes a number will be giving you a problem, save it for last... maybe you want to end on it.
