This guide enumerates Artefacts, Gate Seals and Time Gates that appear in the 
Final Fantasy XIII-2 game. The Directions Appendix adds detail by in-game 
"Action Location" so that the interested player will have complete material for 
use in finding, acquiring and/or using any one of the items of the three lists. 
It adds supplemental map information for "Action Locations" addressed as well.

The material of this guide is based upon facts gathered and opinions gained by 
play of the original U.S. version of the Final Fantasy XIII-2 game (put on sale 
in the U.S. on January 31, 2012) on the Model CECHE-2501A PlayStation 3 gaming 
console. It presents results of game play as experienced by the author.

                              [*A*] INTRODUCTION

CAUTION: This presentation is not spoiler free. Nor is it a walkthrough. It is 
a guide to assist location of the set of Key Items addressed.

Artefacts are listed in alphabetical order by "name". Each entry comprises the 
"Name" of the Artefact followed by the name of the "Action Location" where it 
is to be found and the Time Gate (within the "Action Location" is always given 
preference) to which it attaches.

Gate Seals are listed in alphabetical order by "Title". Each entry begins with 
the "Title" of the Gate Seal, continues with the name of the "Action Location" 
where it is to be found and completes with the designator of the "Action 
Location" controlled.

Time Gates are listed in alphabetical order by "designator". A designator 
consists of a descriptor of the "Action Location" containing the Time Gate of 
interest plus a numerical indicator used to separate multiple Time Gates that 
may occur in a single "Action Location".

Each Time Gate entry consists of a designator plus a "usage" description. The 
"usage" description includes the "Name of the Artefact that must be used to 
activate the Time Gate and the "Action Location" (if any) revealed by the first 
operation of the Time Gate. 

The Directions Appendix gives information to assist finding the Artefacts, Gate 
Seals and Time Gates enumerated by the respective index lists. Entries are 
provided to cover each "Action Location" containing one or more of these items.

Content is organized by alphabetical order of the "Action Location" designators.

Directions are constructed so as to be "in addition" to those suggested by in-
game, game-designer-presented visual and map cues.

To appeal to the widest class of readers, directions are provided in two forms:

     (1) as "Situational" descriptions in terms of "Action Location" features
         that a player might see as that player moves about the "Action
         Location" and,

     (2) as "Map" directions making use of the directional and topographic
         features available by application of the in-game Mini-map and Overhead
         map tools while moving about the "Action Location".

In the latter case, the presentation will be of greatest use to the player 
having used the "Settings" feature of the Main Menu to select "Facing" under 
"Mini-map Settings" and "Fixed to North" under "Map Settings".

Use [Select] to toggle the appearance of the Mimi-map on and off. Use [Square] 
to cause the Overhead Map to appear and [Circle] to cause it to vanish.

Also, remember that the tilting the Left Analog Stick allows complete scanning 
of the area covered by the Overhead Map while pressing down on the Left Analog 
Stick will center the Overhead Map position on your party's current location.

Tilting the Right Analog Stick up and down exercises the "zoom" feature of the 
Overhead Map.

There is a "Miss Horizon" side quest concerning getting 100% coverage for 
mapped locations. For completeness, discussion concerning the acquisition and 
completion of map "coverage" for each "Action Location" has been added to the 
Artefact, Gate Seal and Time Gate information for each "Action Location" of 
interest to the appendix.

The entries of this appendix are organized as an alphabetical index based upon 
in-game "Action Location" designators. Each "Action Location" entry offers in-
depth coverage of "The Map", "The Artefacts", "The Gate Seals" and "The Time 
Gates" topics to assist the player to locate and effectively use these items.



                           [*10*] A DYING WORLD 700 AF

                                    The Map

The map is found in an "out-phase" Treasure Sphere that is located in the 
center of the pathway just past the very narrow opening between walls that 
admits entrance into the ruined village from the large expanse of barren sands.

Complete map coverage is not possible during first entry as a large portion of 
the western section of the area is blocked from access. A second entry from the 
Historia Crux resolves that issue as the entry point is at the western border 
of the previously blocked western section.

A routine inspection of the area produces the 100% coverage required to fulfill 
the needs of the Miss Horizon side quest for map information on this area.


                                 The Artefact

1. "Wild" Artefact - The artifact becomes available after story line events are
     completed during a second entry into A Dying World 700 AF. The Moogle Hunt
     capability will be needed to acquire the Artefact. It can be used to
     activate A Dying World 700 AF Time Gate 1 or any other Time Gate accepting
     "Wild" Artefact activation.

Situational Directions. Move forward and across a first bridge from the entry 
point. Continue across the sands to pass over a second bridge. Bear to the 
right and down the valley to re enter the ruined village. Move through the 
village to turn left at the intersection of pathways. Move up the path to 
arrive at the Farseers' Relic. Complete story line actions to be able to 
collect the Artefact.

Map Directions. From a starting point near the western boundary of the map, 
move to the south and to the east to arrive at the ruined village. At the far 
end of the village, turn to the north and move up the pathway to the Farseers' 
Relic. Perform the necessary story line actions to have the Artefact appear.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. "Promises" Gate Seal - Becomes available after the first story line battle
     in the area. It enables time Reversal for Academia 4XX AF.

Situational Directions. Follow Noel toward the Farseers' Relic. As you do so, 
listen for the distinctive "hum" of a Treasure Cube. The "hum" will be at its 
loudest as you are passing by a low wall on the right-hand side of the pathway. 
Look behind the wall and open the Treasure Cube to receive the Gate Seal.

Map Directions. From the center of the ruined village, move southeast and 
complete a U-Turn to the north to find and move along a path leaving the ruined 
village. As you finish the turn be aware of the ruined structures on the right. 
Look behind the low wall seen there to find the Treasure Cube containing the 
Gate Seal.

2. The "Determination" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for A Dying World
     700 AF is found in Academia 500 AF.
 

                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - Second entry point. It is activated by first use of Time Gate
     1 of New Bodhum 700 AF.

Situational Directions. The Gate is located at the top of a sandy slope in a 
remote part of Dying World 700 AF. Two bridges and a long journey separate it 
from the Farseers' Village area.

Map Directions. The Time Gate appears near the border depression west of the 
boundary right angle in the top of the most northwesterly sizable area of the 
map.

1. Time Gate 1 - Immediately available upon arrival at its location. When
     activated using a "Wild" Artefact, it reveals Bresha Ruins 100 AF.

Situational directions. From the second entry point, proceed forward across a 
bridge and move to the right and around the periphery of the sandy area. The 
Time Gate will be found where the area boundary proceeds to reverse direction 
as it curves back on itself.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is in the center of the peninsula extending to 
the southwest from the large southwestern land area of the map.

2. First entry into this area is through story line action originating in The
     Void Beyond ??? AF. First exit is also a story line event and results in
     the indirect activation of New Bodhum 700 AF.

                                    The Map

The map is not immediately available. After entry, move to the right and up the 
moving walkway to enter a secure area. Query the terminal there to receive the 
map.

Miss Horizon appears down the hallway from the terminal. Her side quest can now 
be "officially" started. Map coverage previously accomplished need not be done 
over to receive side quest "credit".

A map coverage completion percentage of 69% is possible during the first visit 
to Academia 400 AF as all mapped areas are not accessible. The player is 
advised that, as painful as it might be, a thorough exploration to acquire that 
completion percentage may be beneficial.

The Miss Horizon side quest coverage requirements for the Academia map will 
also require a complete exploration of Academia 4XX AF and Academia 500 AF in 
addition to coverage accumulated at this location.


                                  The Artefact

1. "Tower" Artefact - Receipt is automatic after the Zenobia battle. Used to
     activate the Academia 400 AF Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. Accept the Miss Horizon quest. Then bust through the 
security barriers and follow the "smoke puffs" left by the protagonist under 
pursuit to the battle site. Win a series of story line battles to receive the 
Artefact.

Map Directions. Move east through the maze of hallways while overcoming the 
security barriers placed there. Enter the east side promenade and travel its 
length west to enter and cross the Central Bridge. Enter and move through the 
west side promenade to reach a moving walkway that leads up to the battle site.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. The "Farewells" Gate Seal is immediately available. It enables time reversal
     for Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF.

Situational Directions. Starting at the entry point Time Gate, move to the 
right and up the moving walkway  Enter the secure area and look on the left 
between the individuals standing there to find the floating Treasure Cube 
containing the Gate Seal.

Map Directions. Move east and then north along the walkways always keeping to 
the left. The Treasure Cube containing the Gate Seal will be found just before 
a right turn is required to proceed forward.

2. The "Flight" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for Academia 400 AF is
     found in Oerba 300 AF.


                                 The Time Gates

Time Gate 0 - This initial entry point is activated by the second story line
     exit from The Void Beyond ??? AF.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located in one corner of a small plaza 
in the middle of an elevated overpass bridge between two sets of tall buildings.

Map directions. The Time Gate is in the southeast corner of a small rectangular 
area on the 500th Floor of the south Central Bridge area of Academia 400 AF.

Time Gate 1 - Appears after receipt of the "Tower" Artefact. When activated 
    using that Artefact it reveals Augusta Tower 200 AF.

Situational Directions. The "glowing" Time Gate is visible from the battle site.
Move forward and left up the stairway to access it.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is in the small "square" area seen at the 
northwest corner of the accessible area of the Academia 400 AF map.

Time Gate 2 - Immediately available on arrival at its position. When activated

Situational Directions. Proceed to the lower level of the two-level walkway 
area in the large section of Academia 400 AF the farthest from the entry point 
Time Gate. The Time Gate stands at one end of the lower-level "promenade".

Map Directions. Go to the southwestern corner of the lower level of the western 
section of the Academia 400 AF city map to find the Time Gate.

                                    The Map

The map is that obtained during activities in Academia 400AF. If the area map 
was not obtained there, query the pedestal standing near the entry point to 
receive the map.

Entering coverage percentage will be that obtained from the exploration of 
Academia 400 AF. With 69% entering coverage, map coverage will become 100% upon 
through exploration of Academia 4XX AF.

To meet the 100% coverage requirement of the Miss Horizon side quest, 100% 
coverage will also have to be achieved for Academia 500 AF.


                                 The Artefacts

1. "Vagabond" Artefact - Received when the Academia 4XX AF story line quest is
     completed. Used to activate Time Gate 1.

Situational directions. Interface with Alyssa inside of the chamber past the 
reception area of the headquarters building to automatically receive the 
Artefact.

Map Directions. Go and speak with Alyssa in the Research Facility at the north 
end of the map in the headquarters building to automatically receive the 
Artefact.

2. "Wild" Artefact - Available when Moogle Hunt is used at its location. Can be
     used to activate Time Gate 2 or any other one of the 10 time Gates in the
     game that accept "Wild" Artefact initialization.

Situational Directions. From the entry point, go right, up the moving walkway 
and down the hallway into the building. Move through the "maze" of lowest level 
hallways to enter an area with black carpeting and broad, bright green accent 
stripes running across the floor. Place the stairway leading up to the outside 
at your back and move down the room toward the opposite wall. Turn left after 
passing the second red overhead sign. Find the Artefact at the end of the 
hallway.

Map Directions. Go to the double hallway in the south east corner of the map. 
The Artefact is at the end of the stub extending east from the northernmost of 
the two hallways.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. "Facts" Gate Seal - Immediately available from a Treasure Cube located
     behind the headquarters building reception area counter. Moogle Throw must
     be used to collect it. This Gate Seal enables Time Reversal for Augusta
     Tower 200 AF.

Situational Directions. From the entry point, proceed forward by means of two 
moving walkways and a broad, fixed walkway to enter the large building seen 
directly ahead. The reception counter is the major feature in the entry way. 
Look inside the counter on its right side toward the rear to see the Treasure 
Cube containing the Gate Seal.

Map Directions. There is a large irregular area with an empty space at its 
center at the north end of the map. The Treasure Cube will be found just off 
the map edge at the right rear of the empty space.

2. The "Promises" Gate Seal which enables Time Reversal for Academia 4XX AF is
     found in A Dying World 700 AF.


                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - The initial entry point is activated by the first use of Time
     Gate 1 of Augusta Tower 200 AF.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate stands in a small plaza at the top of the 
nearby moving walkway.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is in the small square area at the south end of 
the Central Bridge.

1. Time Gate 1 - This Time gate is not available until the Academia 4XX AF
     story line quest has been completed. When activated using the "Vagabond"
     Artefact, it reveals a Serendipity ??? AF, The Void Beyond ??? AF and 
     Coliseum ??? AF triad.

Situational Directions. Starting from the entry point, take the long moving 
walkway and get off to the right. Take the next forward moving walkway that 
appears on the left. Get off to the right and follow the fixed walkway around 
the corner to a large plaza. The Time Gate is toward the rear of the plaza.

Map Directions. There is a large, square area on the east side of the Central 
Bridge. The Time Gate is in the center of the east side of the area.

2. Time Gate 2 - Immediately available upon arrival at its location. When
     activated using a "Wild" Artefact reveals Vile Peaks 010 AF.

Situational directions. Starting from the initial entry point, take the long 
moving walkway and get off to the right at its end. Follow the fixed walkway 
around to the right and go up the moving walkway that appears near its end. 
Move down the promenade to find the Time Gate on the left-hand side a little 
past the overhead walkway that passes over the promenade.

Map directions. Move to the largest open area shown in the eastern section of 
the map. The Time Gate will be found in the northern part of that open area.

                                    The Map

The map is immediately available but a little travel is required to reach the 
Treasure Sphere that contains it. Timing of actions to match the pathway 
segments alignment motions is required to retrieve the map.

Move forward from the starting point and take a left path segment to the first 
small, stationary platform. Next, take a right angle left path segment to reach 
the second small, stationary platform. Move up the stairway to reach the third 
small, stationary platform. Go right over a rotating straight line path segment 
to find the Treasure Sphere containing the map in the center of a fourth small, 
stationary platform.

The Academia coverage of this map and the prior Academia map are independent of 
one another. Coverage of 100% for each is required to meet the Academia map 
acceptance criterion for completion of the Miss Horizon side quest.
 

                                 The Artefacts

There are no Artefacts to be found or used in Academia 500 AF.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. The "Determination" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for A Dying World
     700 AF is immediately available.

Situational Directions. Upon entry, query the Treasure Cube that appears in 
front of the Time Gate to receive the Gate Seal.

Map Directions. The Treasure Cube containing the Gate Seal is floating in the 
northeast part of the circular entry platform.

2. The "Sisters" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for New Bodhum 700 AF
     becomes available at its location site after a story line action has been
     completed.

Situational Directions. From the starting point, retrace the path to get to the 
third platform of the series that led to the map Treasure Sphere. From the 
third platform, go straight ahead on the stairway and then to the right when 
the right-angle path segment is in position. Move down the stairs to the 
elongated platform and complete story line actions there.

Move out on stationary straight path segment and then left to the next small, 
stationary platform when the moving right-angle path segment is in proper 
position. Go left again across the rotating straight line path segment to 
another platform. Move onto the rotating stairway and climb to its top. Watch 
the "flip-flopping" right-angle pathway segment that, at times connects to the 
small, stationary platform located toward the "outside" of the maze area. At 
the right time, quickly run over that segment and onto the identified small, 
stationary platform. Move down the stairway and touch the "Gate Key Block" 
found there to change the moving pathway segment behavior. Move back up the 
stairs and use the pathway block just used to enter the platform to move to the 
right and onto the elongated stationary platform structure in the middle of the 
maze.

Use the "Gate Key Block" at the center of the platform to change the behavior 
of the rotating T path segment to allow movement to the next small platforms. 
Use the T block to move to the platform on the right to collect the Gate Seal.

Map Directions. Visually study the motion of the moving blocks and also 
consider their movement by making use of [Square] as they change positions. 
Proper timing of character movements will allow the following paths to be taken.

Move from the starting point to the elevated elongated platform in the middle 
of the maze area by using moving path segments on the west side of the map.

Once on the platform, move south onto the segment available there and then east 
and north onto the north-south extending platform on the east side of the maze 
area. Use the "Gate Key Block" down the stairs on this platform to enable 
movement onto the next elongated platform.

Upon arrival at the center of the next elongated platform, use the "Gate Key 
Block" to enable use of the rotating T block to move onto the next stationary 
platforms.

Move north and east to the first available stationary platform to find the 
Treasure Cube with the Gate Seal.

3. The "Final Battle" Gate Seal enables Time Reversal for Academia 500 AF. It
     becomes available after a story line action completes at its location.

Situational Directions. Start at the very long stationary platform in the 
center of the maze. Use the Gate Key Block to change the movement behavior of 
the rotating T block. Move to the left and onto the next stationary platform. 
Ride the rotating T block over to the next platform on the left. Use the Gate 
Key Block to change the movement of the pathway block segments again. Ride the 
rotating T block to the platform seen ahead having an elevated stairway 
connection. Move up the stairway and around to the right to arrive at the large,
rectangular elevated platform which is the location for the Gate Seal Treasure 
Cube.

Map Directions. From the very long stationary platform in the middle of the 
maze, use a "Gate Key Block" to allow movement to the second platform on the 
left. Use the "Gate Key block" found there to enable movement to the large, 
elevated, rectangular platform ahead. Move to the platform to find the Gate 
Seal Treasure Cube just to the west of the northward extending exit path.
   

                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - First entry point. It is activated by first use of Time Gate 1
     of New Bodhum 700 AF.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located at a small circular point of 
stability on the edge of a somewhat chaotic jungle of moving pieces of walkway.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is located on the southeast part of a small 
circular platform at the south end of the map.

                                    The Map

The map is provided after the second successful computer interface terminal 
access.

100% map coverage is accomplished incrementally as interactive movement in this 
facility and Augusta Tower 300 AF takes place.

First exit from this location to move to Augusta Tower 300 AF is at 5% coverage.

After the return from Augusta Tower 300 AF at 27% coverage, completion of the 
remaining areas in this Tower gives 98% coverage.

The complete coverage for the Miss Horizon side quest is achieved by returning 
a second time to Augusta Tower 300 AF and taking its central elevator down to 
the 13th floor.


                                 The Artefacts


1. "Artefact of Rebirth" - Received upon first entry into the top floor second
     tier central area of Augusta Tower 200 AF. Used to activate Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. Upon first arrival at the top floor of Augusta Tower 
200 AF, take the stairway to the second tier and move toward the center to 
receive the Artefact.

Map Directions. Upon first arrival at the top floor of Augusta Tower 200 AF, 
take the pathway at the edge of the circular area up. Move toward the center of 
the next area to receive the Artefact.

2. "Wild" Artefact - Available after the notification that "access to all areas
     has been established". Used to activate Time Gate 2 or, any one of the
     other 9 in-game Time Gates that accept "Wild" Artefact access.

Situational directions. Exit the entry point by means of the door farthest from 
the Time Gate. Turn left and move toward the end of the curved pathway segment. 
The Artefact will be found floating above the pathway.

Map Directions. Exit the room toward the center of the 50th floor. Go to the 
northern end of the western segment of the interior curved path ring to find 
the Artefact.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. "Silence" Gate seal - Acquired after several story line actions have taken
     place. Moogle Throw must be used to retrieve it. This Artefact enables
     Time Reversal for Augusta Tower 300 AF.

Situational Directions. After return from Augusta Tower 300 AF, ride the 
central elevator up to the next floor. Listen for the "hum" of a treasure cube 
to locate it beside one of the five rooms that appear on the destination floor.

Map directions. On the 51st floor, find the Treasure Cube containing the Gate 
Seal on the northeast side of the room in the southeast compass point position.

2. The "Facts" Gate Seal to establish Time Reversal capability for Augusta
     Tower 200 AF is found in Academia 4XX AF.
  

                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - Activated by the first use of Time Gate 1 in Academia 400 AF.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located in a small room occupied by 
four computer interface terminals with screens. The room provides access to two 
curved walkways through doors at its opposite sides.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is in a small room on the 50th floor of Augusta 
Tower 200 AF. The room is the one of a set of four that appears on the 50th 
floor between curved walkway segments and occupies a position at the west point 
of the compass.

Time Gate 1 - Becomes available after top floor second tier story line actions
     have taken place. When activated using the "Artefact of Rebirth" reveals
     Academia 4XX AF.

Situational Directions. Upon first arrival at the top floor of Augusta Tower 
200 AF, take the stairway to the second tier and move toward the center to 
start the story line action sequence.

Map Directions. Upon first arrival at the top floor of Augusta Tower 200 AF, 
take the pathway at the edge of the circular area up. Move toward the center of 
the next area to initiate the story line action sequence.

Time Gate 2 - Becomes available after access to the Tower top floor has been
     accomplished. When activated using a "Wild" Artefact, reveals Oerba 300 AF.

Situational Directions. Take the elevator down to the lowest floor. The Time 
Gate can be seen in the distance and can be reached by travel to the outer, 
wider curved pathway segment.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is located a little east of due south on the 
outer curved pathway segment of the 49th floor.

After revisit to Augusta Tower 200 AF, visiting the 13th floor of this facility 
completes the coverage needed for the Miss Horizon side quest.


                                 The Artefacts

There are no Artefacts to be found or used in Augusta Tower 300 AF.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. There are no Gate Seals to be found in Augusta Tower 300 AF.

2. The "Silence" Gate seal that enables Time Reversal for Augusta Tower 300 AF
     is found in Augusta Tower 200 AF.


                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - Activated by the first use of Time Gate 2 in Yaschas Massif
     01X AF.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located in a small room occupied by 
two inactive computer interface terminals and an active control pedestal. The 
room provides walkway access through a doorway in one side.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is in a small room on the 12th floor of Augusta 
Tower 300 AF. The room is the one of a set of three that appears on the 12th 
floor between curved walkway segments and occupies a position on the east point 
of the compass.

                                    The Map

Upon entry to Bresha Ruins 005 AF, automatic events will take place. When they 
are finished, there will be opportunity to interface with one Alyssa Zaidelle. 
Follow her and keep speaking with her until she presents the map.

Getting 100% coverage for Bresha Ruins 005 AF is complex. Several, separate, 
story line actions are required and three Bresha Ruins sites must be visited.

Merely wandering around the area before taking on Atlas will produce an 
indicated map completion percentage of 74%. After Atlas is defeated, thorough 
exploration plus use of a chocobo to enter one area not otherwise accessible 
will raise the indicated completion percentage to 90% before exit of the area.

At this point, three unexplored sections of the map remain.

Exploration of the pathways behind the locked gate brings the map coverage to 
95% complete.

Once Bresha Ruins 300 AF has been entered and explored, the map coverage is 98%.

A subsequent visit to Bresha Ruins 100 AF produces map coverage of 100%.

Once all Bresha ruins sites have been visited and 100% coverage obtained, the 
Bresha ruins conditions necessary to completion of the Miss Horizon side quest 
have been fulfilled.
 

                                 The Artefacts

1. "Eclipse" Artefact -This appears after a scene with Alyssa in the cemetery.
     It is used to activate Bresha Ruins 005 AF Time Gate 1. The Moogle Hunt
     capability must be used to retrieve it.

Situational Directions. Speak with Alyssa. Move into the left-hand corner of 
the cemetery. Search beneath the tree branches and find a floating, out-of-
phase" object. Retrieve the object to obtain the "Eclipse" Artefact.

Map Directions. Move into the Lamentable Rest area and search the northeast 
corner to find a floating, "out-of-phase" object. Retrieve the object as the 
"Eclipse" Artefact.

2. "Reunion" Artefact - This appears after a scene with Alyssa in the cemetery.
     It is used to activate Bresha Ruins 005 AF Time Gate 2. The Moogle Hunt
     capability must be used to retrieve it.

Situational Directions. Move away from the cemetery while keeping to the left 
on the paved walkway. Continue forward to reach its right-angle turn near the 
higher end of the elevated walkway that appears on the pathway right-side. 
There is an opening into a tunnel that has vertical bars covering its mouth. 
Look behind the grill to see the "Reunion" Artefact.

Map Directions. Move west from the Lamentable Rest while keeping to the south 
side of the pathway. Follow the path to the point where it makes a right-angle-
turn to the south. The Artefact will be found behind the vertical bars that 
prevent entry into a tunnel opening that appears in the wall near the pathway 
corner.

3. "Wild" Artefact - This can be acquired immediately. It can be used to
     activate Bresha Ruins Time Gate 3 or any of the other 9 Time Gates in the
     game that accept Wild Artefact activation. The Moogle Hunt capability
     must be used to retrieve it.

Situational Directions. Move out of the courtyard area by means of the stairway 
leading up and farther into the ruins. Continue along the pathway to go up a 
set of stairways and turn to the left at their top. Move forward while looking 
for a soldier with a "talk balloon" displayed standing near a column on the 
left-hand side of the walkway (just past the pillared courtyard). Speak with 
the soldier to activate the Moogle Hunt capability and its associated tutorial. 
Observe and acquire the "out-of-phase" object floating nearby.

Map Directions. Start in the Excavation Site and move north into the Echoes of 
the Past area. Continue north then west to arrive at the location of the green 
"dot" at northwest corner of the large open area that appears on the south side 
of the walkway. Speak with the soldier standing there to be able to use Moogle 
Hunt to stabilize the nearby "out-of-phase" object and acquire the Artefact.
  

                                The Gate Seals

1. The single Gate Seal to be found in Bresha Ruins 005 AF is immediately
     available. This, the "Leaving" Gate Seal, enables Time Reversal for
     New Bodhum 003 AF.

Situational Directions. Climb the "triple-wide" stairway on the border of the 
plaza area to the point at which it reaches a platform with secondary stairways 
leading off to either side. Take the right-hand secondary stairway up to the 
next walkway and follow that walkway around to its end. Find a floating 
Treasure Cube there containing the "Leaving" Gate Seal.

Map Directions. Locate two short stub "hallways" that appear as projections on 
the south side of the Excavation Site area. Move to the end of the westernmost 
of those. Open the Treasure Cube found there to receive the "Leaving" Gate Seal.

2. The "Scars" Gate Seal to enable Time Reversal for Bresha Ruins 005 AF is 
     found in Yaschas Massif 010 AF.


                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - This initial point of entry to Bresha Ruins 005 AF is
     activated for use by entering the New Bodhum 003 AF Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. Find the "triple wide" stairway on one side of the 
central plaza. Move up the center of the stairway and continue straight on into 
the hallway that appears before you. The Entry Point Time Gate is at the end of 
the hallway.

Map Directions. The southernmost point of the area map is the end of a short 
north-south hallway in the Excavation Site area. The Entry Point Time Gate will 
be found at the end of the hallway stub.

1. Time Gate 1 - Available upon entry into the location where it stands. When
     activated using the "Eclipse" Artefact, it reveals Yaschas Massif 010 AF.

Situational Directions. Search the plaza area to find a stairway whose entry 
features a guard standing in it. Go up the stairway and then on up the path to 
climb a set of stairways. Turn left at the top of the stairway set to see the 
Time Gate in front of you.

Map Directions. Move north to leave the Excavation Site and enter the Echoes of 
the Past area. Follow the path forward and, at the T-intersection, left. The 
Time Gate will be in the walkway north side opposite the open area on the map.

2. Time Gate 2 - Available upon entry into the location where it stands. When
     activated using the "Reunion" Artefact, it reveals Sunleth Waterscape
     300 AF.

Situational Directions. Search the plaza area to find a stairway whose entry 
features a guard standing in it. Go up the stairway and then on up the path to 
climb a set of stairways. Turn left at the top of the stairway set and continue 
down the pathway to enter the mouth of a tunnel that appears on the right side 
of the pathway. Move through the tunnel passage to its ending on an over-water 
platform structure. Look to the right to see the Time Gate.

Map Directions. Move north to leave the Excavation Site and enter the Echoes of 
the Past area. Continue north then west through the Echoes of the Past area to 
a fork in the pathway. Take the northern branch which appears to turn and go 
under the southern branch. Follow the pathway west, then south, to its end. 
Turn west and move on to find the Time Gate on the north side of the walkway.

3. Time Gate 3 - Requires using a key acquired in Bresha Ruins 005 AF (by using
     the Moogle Throw capability) to open a locked gate to gain access. When
     activated using a "Wild Artefact", it reveals Bresha Ruins 300 AF.

Situational Directions. Return to the locked gate seen in the holding cell 
occupied on first entry into Bresha Ruins 005 AF. Open the gate and move 
forward and to left on the walkway system to find the Time Gate.

Map Directions. Open the locked gate that denies access to a passageway seen 
extending to the west from the northwest corner of the Excavation Site. Move 
through the gate and to the west to the end of that walkway segment. Turn south 
and move toward the end of the next walkway segment to find Time Gate 3.



                           [*17*] BRESHA RUINS 100 AF

                                   The Map

The map for this area is that obtained for Bresha Ruins 005 AF.

Although area access is restricted to the upper half of the map, one of the 
formerly blocked areas of Bresha Ruins 005 AF is now open for access. Coverage 
of that area adds 2% to the accumulation total.

Note that the map shows that a barrier is in place blocking access to the 
control room for the paradox machine that appeared in Bresha Ruins 005 AF.

The accumulation total from Bresha Ruins 005 AF plus the addition from Bresha 
ruins 300 AF plus the 2% additional accumulation from the unblocked area yields 
the 100% map completion needed to satisfy the Bresha Ruins accumulation 
requirement for the MISS Horizon side quest.


                                 The Artefact

There is no Artefact to be found or used in Bresha Ruins 100 AF.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. The "Eternity" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for Serendipity ??? AF
     is immediately available.

Situational Directions. Follow the broad pathway around its corners until the 
pillared courtyard is reached. The Treasure Cube containing the Gate Seal will 
be in front of the pillar near the exit to the courtyard.

Map Directions. Look for the Treasure Cube at the end of the "notch" in the 
northwest corner of large area seen located in the center of the map.

2. The "Disaster" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for Bresha Ruins 100 AF
     becomes available after the "first" four fragments for Bresha ruins 100 AF
     have been gathered. The Advanced Moogle Hunt capability must be used to
     get the Gate Seal.

Situational directions. Move about the area to speak with indicated researchers 
so as to initiate and complete fragment side quests for the area. The barrier 
blocking entry into the control room will be removed after the fourth fragment 
is received. Enter the control room and collect the Gate Seal.

Map Directions. Fragment quest initiation points are: (1) west of the Time Gate 
in the center of the pathway, (2) south west of the Time Gate at the second 
right-angle turn of the path, (3) at the entry to the unblocked area, and (4) 
at the cemetery monument near the Time Gate. The control room containing the 
Gate Seal is the square area in the upper middle part of the north end of the 
map.

                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - Activated by first use of Time Gate 2 in A Dying World 700 AF.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate stands beneath the tree branches next to 
the wall at the end of the cemetery.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is located at the end of the broad pathway that 
appears in the northeast part of the map.

                                    The Map

The map for this area was obtained during the activities undertaken in Bresha 
Ruins 005 AF.

Exploration shows that changes have occurred relative to the configuration seen 
in Bresha Runs 005 AF. Old Time Gate Locations no longer appear as new Gates 
take their place. Complete exploration of the former map area is not possible 
due to blockages created by piles of rubble. However, one of the two remaining 
unexplored areas from Bresha Ruins 005 AF is now available for access.

When exploration of this area has been completed, total map coverage is 98%.

A subsequent visit to Bresha Ruins 100 AF will be required to bring the map 
coverage to 100% as required by the Miss Horizon side quest.


                                  The Artefact

1. "Wild" Artefact is obtained upon completion of a side quest involving
     assisting communication between two friends. Use of the Moogle Hunt skill
     is required to acquire the Artefact. It can be used to activate Bresha
     Ruins 300 AF Time Gate 1 or any of the other 9 Time Gates in the game that
     accept Wild Artefact activation.

Situational Directions. Go to the cemetery to find a dark man standing there. 
Speak with that person to initiate the quest. Find his friend by moving back 
along the main path to enter the tunnel walkway system at the opening that 
appears at the second right-angle turn of the return path. Move to the end of 
the walkway segment to find the friend standing on a nearby platform. Take the 
friend's message back to the quest originator to be able to get the Artefact.

Map Directions. Move to the Lamentable Rest area in the northeast corner of the 
map. Speak with the dark man there to start the side quest. Travel to the east-
west pathway seen at the bottom of southwest corner of the accessible area 
shown in the middle section of the map. Speak with the friend found standing on 
a platform there. Return to the Lamentable Rest area and speak with the quest 
originator to be able to collect the Artefact.


                                  The Gate Seal

1. The "Labyrinth" Gate Seal is immediately available. It can be obtained by
     using Moogle Throw or by using a chocobo to enter the area where it rests.
     This Gate Seal enables Time Reversal for Bresha Ruins 300 AF.

Situational Directions. There is an elevated area enclosed by a low wall ahead 
and slightly to the right of the entry point. Move up the stairway near the 
wall and mount the overhanging slab at the top to be able to see the Treasure 
Cube containing the Gate Seal floating in the area.

Map directions. There is an area east of the main pathway just to the north of 
the entry point. The Treasure Cube containing the Gate Seal will be found in 
that area.


                                  The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - Activated by first use of Bresha Ruins 005 AF Time Gate 3.

Situational Directions. Movement can only be forward from the Time Gate as 
travel in the other direction is prevented by a large pile of rubble. To return 
after leaving the gate area, move back along the main, broad pathway and down 
the stairway at its end to find the gate.

Map directions. The Time Gate is located at the south end of the broad walkway 
shown in the eastern portion of the middle set of pathways shown on the map.

1. Time Gate 1 - Immediately available. When activated by a "Wild" Artefact, it
     reveals Yaschas Massif 110 AF.

Situational Directions. Go to the cemetery area. In Bresha Ruins 300 AF, a 
rubble pile formerly blocking access to a small area near the cemetery boundary 
has been removed. The Time Gate is located in that "newly-opened" area.

Map Directions. There is a square area that appears at the top center position 
on the map. There is an irregular area that appears just east of it. The Time 
Gate is located within the irregular area.

Upon first entry into this area there will be an "out-of-phase" floating 
Treasure Sphere immediately apparent. After required story line actions 
complete, access the Treasure sphere to receive the map.

not required to complete the Miss Horizon quest.


                                  The Artefact

There is no Artefact to be found or used in this area.


                                  The Gate Seals

1. There is no Gate Seal to be found in this area.

2. The "Prediction" Gate seal which enables Time Reversal for the Coliseum will
     be found The Void Beyond ??? AF.


                                  The Time Gate

1. Time Gate 1 - A dual-purpose Time Gate that serves as both an entry and exit
     point for the area. Activated by the first use of Sunleth Waterscape 300
     AF Time Gate 2.

Situational Directions. Move directly to the always viewable Time Gate.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is located in the hallway stub projection on the 
south side of the Coliseum rotunda.

                                    The Map

Speak with Noel to begin the "Investigate the Impact Site" quest. Cross the 
bridge outside the village. Move onward until Noel assumes the lead. Follow 
Noel down a "stair step" set of terraces and up the next slope. As your ascent 
begins, Mog will become excited to suggest the presence of something important. 
Open the Treasure Sphere nearby to receive the area map.

Getting 100% area coverage at this "Action Location" is possible before leaving.
Initially there will be barriers preventing access to parts of the area. Those 
will be removed after the first story line quest is completed. Replacement 
barriers appear but those are removed upon completion of the second story line 
quest. Once the barriers are gone, moving through the area will result in 
complete coverage if carefully done. Revisit all the nooks and crannies in NORA 
House as well as elevated walkways and beneath hut accesses if a percentage 
completion of less than 100% is seen.

This 100% completion percentage must be "reinforced" by coverage of the New 
Bodhum 700 AF area to satisfy requirements of the Miss Horizon side quest.


                                 The Artefact

1. Giant's Artefact - Available after completion of two story line quests. Used
     to activate New Bodhum Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. Complete actions needed to recover a stolen article. Go 
to the village, enter NORA House and go to Serah's room. Query the mirror to 
receive the Artefact.

Map Directions. After obtaining the stolen article, start from the Village 
Square at the south end of the map, go west to enter a structure and then south 
to enter Serah's room. Query the mirror to receive the Artefact.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. There is no Gate Seal to be found in New Bodhum 003 AF.

2. The "Leaving" Gate Seal to enable Time Reversal for New Bodhum 003 AF will
     be found in Bresha Ruins 005 AF.


                                 The Time Gate

1. Time Gate 1 - Revealed upon completion of the first story line quest. When
     activated using the Giant's Artefact, it reveals Bresha Ruins 005 AF.

Situational Directions. Begin the "Investigate the Impact Site" quest by moving 
across the bridge outside the village. Jump off the bridge extension and up on 
the bluff to have Noel assume the lead. Follow Noel to the meteorite impact 
crater. Inspect the meteorite to reveal the Time Gate.

Map Directions. Move north out of the village along the indicated paths. Once 
the area map is found, move to the center of the large circular area at the 
north end of the map. Inspect the object found there to reveal the Time Gate.

                                    The Map

The map will be found next to a large dirt pile near the entrance into the 
village. The "out-of-phase" Treasure Cube must be "stabilized" using the 
Advanced Moogle Hunt capability in order to obtain the map.

Exploration of the area produces 100% coverage, which, when added to 100% 
coverage for New Bodhum 003 AF completes the New Bodhum coverage requirement 
for the Miss Horizon side quest.


                                 The Artefact

1. Artefact of the Ark - The Artefact becomes available after the New Bodhum
     700 AF spacetime distortion "pillar" has been dealt with. The Advanced
     Moogle Hunt capability is required to collect the Artefact. Used to
     activate New Bodhum 700 AF Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. There will be a quick snapshot scene showing the 
appearance of the Artefact. Move toward the stairway of the ruined building 
seen in the distance to approach the Artefact location. As this is done, Mog 
will become excited and move ahead to indicate the location of the Artefact.

Map Directions. There is an almost completely enclosed empty area on the north 
side of the map. The Artefact will be found at the east end of the empty area.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. There is no Gate Seal to be found in New Bodhum 700 AF.

2. The "Sisters" Gate seal that enables Time Reversal for New Bodhum 700 AF is 
found in Academia 500 AF.


                                 The Time Gate

1. Time Gate 1 - Appears after the New Bodhum 700 AF spacetime distortion
     "pillar" has been dealt with. When activated using the Artefact of the Ark,
     it reveals Academia 500 AF.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located at the end of the pier and is 
visible from all points within New Bodhum 700 AF.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is at the end of the long walkway projection 
extending to the southeast seen on the map.

                                    The Map

Not available until after the first Temporal Rift anomaly is resolved.

Find the map of Oerba in a Treasure Sphere on the first floor of the deserted 
house whose entry is by means of a short flight of stairs leading up from the 
courtyard where Chocolina has set up her store.

Three different Oerba locations must be visited to accumulate 100% for this map.

A thorough exploration of Oerba 200 AF gives a 92% completion coverage figure. 
(Be sure and move through all deserted schoolhouse levels including areas under 
the stairways.)

Visits to Oerba 300 AF and Oerba 400 AF are necessary to get the 100% map 
coverage needed to satisfy the Oerba coverage conditions of the Miss Horizon 
side quest.


                                  The Artefacts

1."Artefact of Origins" - Available after completion of all story line events
     in Oerba. Used to activate Oerba 200 AF Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. Upon completion of story line action, the Artefact will 
appear close by. Merely walk to it to acquire it.

Map Directions. The Artefact will be found on the top floor of the northward 
extending building projection in the northwest corner of the map.

2. "Wild" Artefact - Available after resolution of the third Temporal Rift 
anomaly. It can be used to activate any of the 10 Time Gates in the game that 
accept Wild Artefact activation. The Moogle Throw capability must be used to 
retrieve it.

Situational Directions. After the anomaly resolution, move back in the 
direction of the large tree in the center of town. Stay close to the building 
on your left and turn its second corner to arrive at a low wall. Look over the 
wall along the side of the building. The Artifact can be seen at the junction 
between the building wall and the curved projection extending out from the 
building side.

Map Directions. There is a narrow walkway that appears to enclose an off-the-
map area in the northwest part of the map. Go to the southeast "corner" of that 
off-the-map area and look down and to the north along the building side to see 
the Artefact.

                                  The Gate Seals

1. The "Visions" Gate seal that enables Time Reversal for Yascha Massif 010 AF
     becomes available after the first Time Rift anomaly is resolved.

Situational Directions. After the anomaly resolution, proceed forward and jump 
over the low wall on the right. Proceed along the walkway around the building 
and on down the stairs. Go around the next corner and up the stairs into the 
lower floor. Take the next stairway to the second floor and retrieve the Gate 
Seal from the Treasure Cube floating there.

Map Directions. After the anomaly is resolved, proceed north then east as far 
as possible. Then move north down the stairs and, at the first opportunity, 
west to a short stairway. Go south up the entry stairs and then up the next 
flight of stairs to open the Treasure Cube and receive the Gate Seal.

2. The "Encounters" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for Oerba 200 AF is
     found in Yaschas Massif 01X AF.


                                   The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - First entry point. Activated by the first use of Yaschas
     Massif 010 AF Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate stands in a hollow at the end of a road 
blocked by an accumulation of white sand.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is located at the end of a highway stub 
projecting toward the south at the south end of the map.

1. Time Gate 1 - Not available until after resolution of the second Temporal
     Rift anomaly. When activated using the "Artefact of Origins" it reveals
     Yaschas Massif 01X AF.

Situational Directions. Once the Artefact has been received, go down to the 
beach and walk along the wall to the stairway. The Time Gate will be on the 
left at the top of the stairway.

Map Directions. The Time Gate will be found a "niche" shown on the map that 
appears between a straight line segment and a curved line segment in its 
northeast "corner".

Exploration of this area does not add to the 92% coverage accumulation seen in

to be met for completion of the Miss Horizon side quest.

Map coverage must be completed by a visit to Oerba 400 AF to fulfill the Oerba 
map coverage requirement of the Miss Horizon side quest.


                                  The Artefact

There is no Artefact to be found in Oerba 300 AF.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. The "Flight" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for the Academia 400 AF
     "Action Location" is immediately available. Use of the Moogle Throw
     capability to retrieve the item from its Treasure Cube is required.

Situational Directions. Move to the wall boundary of the plaza and along the 
wall up the ramp and past the large tree. Find place where the wall makes 
right-angle turns to define a small plaza featuring a mailbox and a utility 
pole. Look over the wall, down and out to see a Treasure Cube floating above 
the corner of a structure near a stairway.

Map Directions. There is an empty space in the north western part of the map 
that is defined on its west and north sides by a walkway. The Gate Seal 
Treasure Cube is located at approximately the north east corner of the empty 
space.

2. The "How Things Were" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for Oerba 300 AF
     is immediately available. Use of the Moogle Throw skill will be required
     to recover the object from its Treasure Cube.

Situational Directions. Move to the wall boundary of the plaza and along the 
wall to the top of the ramp leading up to the main road level. Tuck into the 
niche that appears just before the large tree. Look over the low part of the 
wall and down and back along the ramp wall to see the Treasure Cube floating 
above some stacked boxes.

Map directions. There is an elongated, irregular empty area in the middle part 
of the map. Enter the short stub projecting north into the empty area from its 
southern border. Look down and east to see the Treasure Cube.
   

                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - The first entry point that is activated by the first use of
     Time Gate 2 of Augusta Tower 200 AF.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located in the middle of the mid-level 
plaza in the Village Proper area of Oerba.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is in the center of an irregular area that 
appears on the eastern side of central portion of the map.

1. Time Gate 1 - Initially accessible but inactive, it becomes available once
     the Temporal Rift anomaly associated with the spacetime distortion pillar
     that appears in front of it is resolved. When activated using a "Wild"
     Artefact, it reveals Oerba 400 AF.

Situational Directions. Move up the ramp leading from the plaza to the road 
that enters Oerba from the direction of the sandy desert. Turn left and go down 
the road to find the Time Gate on the right-hand side in the middle of a short 
side road.

Map directions. There is a main road entering Oerba Village Proper on the south 
end of the map. The Time Gate is in the middle of the short stub road segment 
that extends to the west from the main road.

                                  The Gate Seal

1. The "Hometown" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for Oerba 400 AF is 
immediately available. Moogle Throw is needed to collect the Gate Seal.

Situational Directions. Move forward from the gate and down the ramp into the 
plaza with a windmill in its seaward corner. Continue through the plaza and 
down the next ramp to occupy a position at the peak of the first fork in the 
tree roots appearing in the walkway just past the corner of the wall at the 
bottom of the ramp. Look up toward the top of the tree root structure to see 
the floating Treasure Cube containing the Gate Seal.

Map directions. The Treasure Cube will be found at the southern tip of the 
small projection of the empty area located due north of the plaza.
  

                                  The Time Gate

0. Time Gate 0 - Activated by first use of Time Gate 1 of Oerba 300 AF.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located beneath the Rust Eaten Bridge 
on the central street in Oerba Village Proper.

Map Directions. The Time Gate location is near the tip of the westernmost 
projection of the map.

                                  The Artefact

1. "Wild" Artefact - Can be purchased from a Casino Vendor as a prize after
     accumulation of a sufficient number of Casino Coins. It can be used to
     enter any one of ten Time Gates in the game that accept a "Wild" Artefact
     as the activation mechanism.

Situational Directions. There are three "huts" that can be entered in the 
Casino area. Two of those feature a Casino Vendor Station where various 
transactions can take place. Move past the roulette wheel and to the right to 
enter one of the huts with the Vendor Station. Move past the roulette wheel and 
enter the hut at the top left of the area to enter the other hut with a Vendor 
Station.

Map Directions. Enter the Casino and make note of the stub hallways at the top 
of the map and on its east side. The top stub is the entry path into the 
"Racing Reception" area and the east stub is the entry point into the "Hall of 
Gaming". Enter either and move to the clearly-marked Casino Vendor Station 
counter on the top right-hand-side of the map.


                                  The Gate Seals

1. "The Fall" Gate Seal which enables Time Reversal for Yaschas Massif 01X AF
     is immediately available.

Situational Directions. As you enter the casino area, move to the left just 
past the first hut. The floating Treasure Cube located in the "point" of the 
area of white floor just off the large roulette wheel contains the Gate seal.

Map Directions. The Treasure Cube containing the Gate seal will be found at the 
tip of the map point seen just above the east-west "hallway" stub on the west 
side of the map.

2. The "Eternity" Gate Seal which enables Time Reversal for Serendipity is
     found Bresha Ruins 100 AF.


                                  The Time Gate

1. Time Gate 1 - An immediately available, dual-purpose Time Gate that serves
     as both an entry and exit point for the area. Automatically activated by
     the second story line exit of The Void Beyond ??? AF.

Situational Directions. Move back through the theme park entrance to access the 
Time Gate.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is located at the southernmost point of the map.




                       [*26*] SUNLETH WATERSCAPE 300 AF

                                    The Map

Upon entry into Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF, certain actions are required to take 
place. When those are complete, speak with Snow to receive the map.

Getting 100% coverage for this area should pose no great challenge. Make use of 
the vine transportation system and be sure to cover all levels of any multi-
level features within the area.

For the Miss Horizon side quest, complete coverage here must be reinforced by a 
visit to Sunleth Waterscape 400 AF.


                                 The Artefacts

1. "Thundering" Artefact - Available after the completion of initial story line
     event sequence; used to activate Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. Move back to the initial position where the story line 
action sequence for Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF began. Continue on to the nearby 
jumping off point that has tree branches as the path continuation. Keep left 
and follow the tree branch and swinging vine path segments to their end at a 
small platform area, Jump up to the next platform area and defeat the group of 
flan to receive the Artefact.

Map directions. Move to the end of the narrow pathway seen extending to the 
south and east on the map to find a group of flan in a small platform area 
(Overgrown Forest). Defeat the flan to receive the Artefact.

2. "Combat" Artefact - Available after the completion of initial story line
     event sequence; used to activate Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF Time Gate 2.

Situational Directions. Search for and find the "Transport Beast". Ride the 
beast to its destination point. Disembark to enter a pathway leading to an exit 
point requiring a jump onto some tree branches. Move up the branches and use 
the vine that appears to swing over to the next path segment. Upon reaching the 
path segment, observe the jump point on the left that permits use of a side 
"path" involving climbing up some tree branches. Follow this path to an end in 
a flat area containing a group of flan. Defeat the flan to receive the Artefact.

Map Directions. Move to the most southwesterly part of the Sunleth Waterscape 
300 AF area displayed in the Overhead Map (Isle of Arboreal Embrace). Defeat 
the group of Flan found there to receive the Artefact.

3. "Illusionary" Artefact or "Restoration" Artefact - Created from the Sunleth
     Waterscape "Mysterious" Artefact; used to activate Sunleth Waterscape 300
     AF Time Gate 3.

This Artefact appears when the "Mysterious" Artefact is presented to attempt 
entry into Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF Time Gate 3.

4. "Wild" Artefact - Available after completion of the initial story line event
     Sequence (Moogle Throw is required to retrieve the Artefact). One of 10
     such Artefacts to be used to activate any one of 10 Time Gates in the game
     that use a "Wild" Artefact activation mechanism.

Situational Directions. For most convenient access, board the "Transport Beast" 
at the point where it stops and waits at a point very close to Chocolina (her 
"second" location). The "Wild" Artefact will appear on the right as the 
"Transport Beast" moves toward the opposite end of its traverse.

Map Directions. Ride the "Transport Beast" as it moves up or down its (Animal 
Trail) path. Look for the Artefact object on the eastern side of the pathway 
toward its southern end.

5. "Mysterious" Artefact - Available after the elimination of the Giant Flan;
     used to create the "Illusionary" or "Restoration" Artefact. Moogle Throw
     must be used to acquire the Artefact.

Situational Directions. After eliminating the Giant Flan, look ahead to see the 
bobbing Artefact off to one side of the path. Move to a convenient position 
close to the Artefact to attempt recovery.

Map directions. After elimination of the Giant Flan, move south to assume a 
convenient position near the east edge of the large area. The Artefact is 
easily seen from such a vantage point.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. There is no Gate Seal to be found in Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF.

2. The "Farewells" Gate seal to enable Time Reversal for Sunleth Waterscape 300
     AF is found in Academia 400 AF.


                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - This initial entry point into the Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF is
     activated by first entry into the Bresha Ruins 005 AF Time Gate 2.

Situational Directions. Upon first entry into the Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF, 
the Time Gate will be to the front and on the immediate right-hand-side of the 
screen. After the initial scenes have completed, Chocolina will appear close to 
the position of Gate. So, subsequently, whenever play is in this same general 
area, just look for Chocolina to find the gate.

Map Directions. Look for the "small" circular area that serves as a four-way 
pathway intersection hub (Forest Crossroads) located central to the Overhead 
Map. The Time Gate is located on the pathway extending southeast from the hub.

1. Time Gate 1 - Available after completion of initial story line actions.
     When activated using the "Thundering" Artefact, it reveals The Archlyte
     Steppe ??? AF.

Situational Directions. Its location becomes obvious upon completion of the 
initial set of required story line actions. Look around to see it standing in 
place at its location on the right-hand-side of the screen.

Map Directions. Look for the small area in the northwest corner of the Overhead 
Map. That area is the location of this time gate.

2. Time Gate 2 - Available after completion of initial story line actions. When
     activated using the "Combat" Artefact, it reveals Coliseum ??? AF.

Situational Directions. Search and find the "Transport Beast" and use its 
capability. Upon "dismounting" the beast, continue forward on the pathway to 
jump up a tree structure.  Use the vines found hanging there to swing on to the 
next pathway segment. Follow the pathway toward its end to find the Time Gate 
standing on the pathway left-hand side.

Map directions. Look for the U-shaped path segment (Bow Isle) in the southwest 
portion of the Overhead Map. The Time Gate is located at the eastern side 
"peak" of the path arc.

3. Time Gate 3 - Available after completion of initial story line actions. When
     activated using the "Illusionary" or "Restoration" Artefact, reveals The
     Void Beyond ??? AF plus other "Action Locations".

Situational Directions. Move forward from the entry point position to see this 
gate standing on an elevated tree trunk structure just off the main path.

Map directions. Look for the "small" circular area that serves as a four-way 
pathway intersection hub (Forest Crossroads) located central to the map. The 
Time Gate is at the end of the small pathway stub extending northwest from the 
hub.

                                 The Gate Seal

1. "Thunderstruck" Gate Seal - Received after completion of certain side quest
     actions. It enables Time Reversal for Sunleth Waterscape 400 AF.

Situational Directions. The Gate Seal is automatically received after the 
"Monster Finder" and the "Chase away the flan" side quests are completed.

Map directions. The point of receipt is in the large, oval Assembly Area 
located central to the northern portion of the map.
   

                                 The Time Gate

0. Time Gate 0 - First entry point. Activated by the first use of Time Gate 1
     of Yaschas Massif 100 AF.

Situational Directions. The surroundings show this gate to be located at the 
end of the area in which Time Gate 2 of Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF was located.

Map Directions. The Time Gate location is at the south end of Bow Isle - itself 
at the southwest "end" of a series of path segments shown on the area map.




                        [*28*] THE ARCHLYTE STEPPE ??? AF

                                    The Map

Upon entry into the area, go into the Nomad Camp and up the stairs into the 
shed on the top of the bluff. Speak to the leader of the Hunter Group who will 
provide the map.

It will be possible to get 99% map completion simply by moving about the entire 
area. There will be a small area on a "mountain top" that will require use of a 
special "jump" skill while riding a chocobo to obtain the other 1% coverage.

This completes The Archlyte Steppe ??? AF map coverage required by the Miss 
Horizon side quest.


                                 The Artefact

1. "Wild" Artefact - Immediately available for acquisition when the area is
     entered. Exercise of the Moogle Throw capability will be required to
     collect it. This item can be used to enter Time Gate 1 or any one of the 9
     other Time Gates in the game that accept "Wild" Artefact activation.

Situational Directions. Exit the Nomad Camp and move right to travel all the 
way to the cliff at the other end of the Steppes. (There will be a ditch to 
overcome to gain access to the farther reaches.) Move along the cliff edge to 
search below for a small platform in the cliff face. The Artefact will be 
floating above that platform.

Map Directions. Move to the westernmost point on the map. Move along the cliff 
edge to the north and look down along the cliff face to find a small platform 
projecting out from the cliff face. The Artefact will be floating above the 
platform.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. There is no Gate Seal to be found in The Archlyte Steppe.

2. The "The Calm" Gate Seal which enables Time Reversal for The Archlyte Steppe
     is found in The Void Beyond ??? AF.


                                 The Time Gates

Time Gate 0 - This initial entry point into The Archlyte Steppe ??? AF is
     activated by entry into the Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located in a cul-de-sac at the edge of 
a bluff in the grassy area just outside the Nomad Camp. In sunny weather it is 
visible from most points in the grassy area.

Map Directions. The location of the Time Gate is within the small cul-de-sac in 
the northwest corner of the map just outside the Nomad Camp area.

Time Gate 1 - Initially sealed against use. Available once three "large"
     cactuar stones in The Archlyte Steppe have been used. When activated using
     a "Wild" Artefact, it reveals Vile Peaks 200 AF.

Situational Directions. Exit the Nomad Camp and move out toward the prominent 
mountain peak that appears in the distance. Cross the white bridge that appears 
to one side and move straight on from there to find the Time Gate.

Map Directions. Travel south from the Nomad Camp and trend a little to the east 
to enter the southeastern "bulge" of the map. The Time Gate is not far from the 
eastern edge of the "bulge".

Situational Directions. When character control is restored, look around to see 
a floating Treasure Cube in the distance.

Map directions. The Treasure Cube containing the Gate Seal is located just off 
the southwest corner of the map.
 
2. "The Calm" Gate Seal - Available during second entry after automatic story
     line events complete; requires use of the Moogle Throw skill to acquire.
     Enables Time Reversal for The Archlyte Steppe ??? AF.

Situational Directions. When character control is restored, move to the 
opposite site of the central crystal structure. Find a floating Treasure Cube 
tucked into a niche between a ruined, but upright, column and a massive railing.

Map directions. The Treasure Cube containing the Gate Seal is located just off 
the northwest corner of the map.

3. There is no Gate Seal which separately enables Time Reversal for The Void
     Beyond ??? AF.


                                  The Time Gate

There is no Time Gate at this location. Player-controlled entry and exit is by 
means of a spacetime distortion "pillar" that serves as both an entry and exit 
point for the area.

The first story line exit using the "pillar" returns action to the Historia 
Crux.

The second story line exit using the "pillar" reveals Academia 400 AF and 
Serendipity ??? AF.

The third story line exit indirectly reveals A Dying World 700 AF.

Upon first entry, the map for this area is obtained by using Moogle Hunt to 
speak with the first fallen solder encountered. (if Vile Peaks 200 AF has not 
been entered. Otherwise, the map obtained from Vile Peaks 200 AF will be used 
as the map for this area.)

First entry travel through the area can produce map coverage of 100%. If so, a 
visit to Vile Peaks 200 AF will still be required to satisfy the coverage 
requirement for the Miss Horizon side quest.

If Vile Peaks 200 AF has been visited previously, travel through this area can 
complete the 52% map coverage obtainable by exploring Vile Peaks 200 AF.

It is totality of coverage for both Vile Peaks visits that satisfies the Miss 
Horizon 100% coverage requirement for Vile Peaks.


                                  The Artefacts

                                    The Map

On the first entry into Vile Peaks, the map is immediately available by using 
the Moogle Hunt capability to "stabilize" an "out-of-phase" individual lying 
near the Time Gate. (Otherwise the map obtained on a prior visit to Vile Peaks 
010 AF will be used as the map.)

Map coverage available by exploration of this area is 52%. The additional 
coverage necessary to meet the Miss Horizon side quest 100% requirement is 
obtained by separately exploring Vile Peaks 010 AF.

Both areas must be visited and 100% coverage attained to meet the Vile Peaks 
coverage requirement of the Miss Horizon side quest.


                                  The Artefacts

There are no Artefacts to be found or used in Vile Peaks 200 AF.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. "Return" Gate Seal - Received after the "Find the six survivors" side quest
     has almost been completed. This Gate Seal enables Time Reversal for Vile
     Peaks 200 AF.

Situational Directions. Search both Vile Peaks areas for the missing soldiers. 
There are three in each area. Collect information and apply it to automatically 
receive the Gate Seal as the side quest nears completion.

Map Directions. The sequence of actions to be taken will depend upon which of 
the two areas are entered first. Assuming it is Vile Peaks 010 AF, find the 
first two missing soldiers then move to Vile Peaks 200 AF to find three more.
Then return to Vile Peaks 010 AF to claim the last solder before completing 
actions needed to get the Gate Seal in Vile Peaks 200 AF.

2. "Afterimage" Gate Seal - Received after the "Find the six survivors" side
     Quest has almost been completed. This Gate Seal enables Time Reversal for
     Vile Peaks 010 AF.

Situational Directions. Search both Vile Peaks areas for the missing soldiers. 
There are three in each area. Collect information and apply it to automatically 
receive the Gate Seal as the side quest nears completion.

Map Directions. The sequence of actions to be taken will depend upon which of 
the two areas are entered first. Assuming it is Vile Peaks 200 AF, find the 
first three missing soldiers then go to Vile Peaks 010 AF to find two more. 
Return to Vile Peaks 200 AF before moving on in Vile Peaks 010 to claim the 
third soldier there. Finally, return to Vile Peaks 200 AF to complete actions 
needed to receive the Gate Seal.


                                  The Time Gate

0. Time Gate 0 - Activated by the first use of The Archlyte Steppe Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located in an irregular, slightly-
elongated area at one end of the Vile Peaks 200 AF trail way.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is at the east end of the map.

                                    The Map

Upon entry move forward and speak with the Researcher standing there. He will 
give you the Yaschas Massif map.

Getting complete map coverage for this area will require visits to multiple 
Yaschas Massif sites.

Thorough exploration during the initial visit to this area will only produce 
86% map completion partially because certain areas are blocked from entry by 
barriers.

After exploration of the Yaschas Massif 01X AF area, completion will be 95%.

Then, exploration of the Yaschas Massif 110 AF area produces the 100% coverage 
needed to meet the requirement imposed by the Miss Horizon side quest.


                                  The Artefact

1. "Hollow" Artefact - Received as a part of the story line progression in
     Yaschas Massif 010 AF. It is used to activate Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. Proceed from the entry point to the opposite end of the 
Yaschas Massif. Upon arrival at the ruined city, interact with Hope until he 
presents the Artefact.

Map Directions. Proceed to the square-cornered area at the north end of the map.
Receive the Artefact during story line events that take place there.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. The "Scars" Gate Seal - Immediately available and enables Time Reversal for
     Bresha Ruins 005 AF.

Situational Directions. Move onward from the entry point through some pathways 
and into a large dark area. Find Chocolina and look around her location to see 
a floating Treasure Cube. Open the Treasure Cube to receive the Gate seal.

Map Directions. Go north on the available pathways and into a large open area 
with a significant fissure in its center. Go to the north end of the fissure 
and look toward the bluff that appears to the north. Open the Treasure Cube 
found floating there to receive the Gate seal.

2. The "Visions" Gate Seal to enable Time Reversal in Yaschas Massif 010 AF
     is found in Oerba 200 AF.


                                 The Time Gates

Time Gate 0 - This initial entry point into Yaschas Massif is activated by the
     first use of Bresha Ruins 005 AF Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. As the most prominent feature in the entry area, it can 
be seen (from any point within the entry area) standing in position against the 
rock wall that forms the boundary for most of the entry area.

Map Directions. Find the Time Gate in the southwest corner of the large open 
area in the southwest corner of the map.

Time Gate 1 - Access to this Time Gate is initially blocked by a barrier. It
     becomes available after the "Hollow" Artefact is received. When activated
     using the "Hollow" Artefact, it reveals Oerba 200 AF.

Situational Directions. After receiving the Artefact, move back along the 
initial path segment leading toward the initial entry point. Look on the left 
to find a pathway formerly blocked by a barrier now to be open. Jump down the 
terraced cliff to find the Time Gate.

Map Directions. After receiving the Artefact, move south from the ruined city 
and into the short pathway segment extending east from the main path. The Time 
Gate is at the end of that easterly pathway segment.

                      2 Artefact; 1 Gate Seal; 3 Time Gate


                                    The Map

The map used for this area is that obtained during prior activities in Yaschas 
Massif 010 AF. The area displayed is the same as that seen for the former site.

However, upon entry into this area, a difference in displayed features will be 
found. Time Gate appearances have changed. The location for Time Gate 1 of 
Yaschas Massif 010 AF is now the entry point for Yaschas Massif 01X AF. Two 
"new" time Gates appear on the map and the Yaschas Massif 010 AF entry point 
Time Gate is no longer present. Although some of the former barriers are still 
in place, the barrier blocking entry into a walkway complex part of the ruined 
city is absent.

Covering the walkway area plus using a chocobo to access the previously 
inaccessible "mountain top" area produces a map completion indication of 95%.

A subsequent visit to Yaschas Massif 110 AF will bring the map coverage to 100% 
and complete the coverage required by the Miss Horizon side quest.


                                  The Artefacts

1. "Illusionary" or "Restoration" Artefact - Obtained as the transformation of
     the Yaschas Massif 01X AF "Mysterious" Artefact. Used to activate Yaschas
     Massif 01X AF Time Gate 1.

This Artefact appears when the "Mysterious" Artefact is presented to attempt 
entry into Yaschas Massif 01X AF Time Gate 1.

2. "Mysterious" Artefact - Becomes available by using Moogle Hunt after
     completion of a story line discussion sequence. When used to attempt
     activation of Time Gate 1, it transforms into the "Illusionary" Artefact
     or the "Restoration" Artefact.

Situational Directions. Enter the ruined city and speak with Hope and Alyssa. 
When finished, enter the formerly-blocked walkway section and go to the top. 
Search the area to find the "out-of-phase" Artefact and collect it.

Map Directions. Move to the end of the walkway section seen on the south side 
of the ruined city area. Search near the end of the walkway to find the 
Artefact.


                                 The Gate Seals

1. "Encounters" Gate Seal - Immediately available and enables Time Reversal for
     Oerba 200 AF.

Situational Directions. When moving away from the entry point up the terraced 
cliff, search the second terrace for the Treasure Cube containing the Gate Seal.

Map directions. The Treasure Cube containing the Gate Seal will be found a 
little bit west of the dead end of the east-west pathway stub that appears in 
the approximate center of the map.

2. "The Fall" Gate Seal that enables Time Reversal for Yaschas Massif 01X AF
     is found in Serendipity ??? AF.


                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - This initial entry point into Yaschas Massif 01X AF is
     activated by the first use of Oerba 200 AF Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is in a small "pocket" at the bottom of a 
series of terraces at the end of a narrow canyon. Exit from its location is by 
"jumping" up the series of terraces in the cliff wall to reach the pathways 
available at the top of the cliff.

Map directions. There is a "dead end" eastward extension off the main north-
south pathway in the middle of the map. The Time Gate appears at the east end 
of the extension.

1. Time Gate 1 - Immediately available. When activated by the "Illusionary" 
Artefact or the "Restoration" Artefact, it reveals The Void Beyond ??? AF plus 
other "Action Locations".

Situational Directions. Once the "Mysterious" Artefact is obtained, leave the 
ruined city and move to the opposite end of the Yaschas Massif. Take the 
pathway out of the ruined city and go right at the fork to enter a large open 
area. Continue through that area, keeping to the right, until a small sill 
separating it from a second open area is encountered. Jump up and move through 
the second open area to find a small bridge just past its exit point. Jump down 
to the canyon bottom using the bridge platform provided to find the Time Gate.

Map directions. There are two pathway stubs at the southeast corner of the map. 
Access to the end of one of those is blocked by a barrier. The Time Gate is at 
the end of the adjacent, unblocked pathway stub.

2. Time Gate 2 - Immediately available. When activated by using a "Wild"
     Artefact, it reveals Augusta Tower 300 AF.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located on the border of the largest 
open area in the Yaschas Massif. Enter the open area from any direction and 
look around to see the "glowing" white Time Gate against the canyon wall.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is located at about the center of the edge of the 
middle "bulge" that appears on the lower western side of the map.

                                    The Map

The map is that obtained earlier for Yaschas Massif 010. If 100% coverage has 
not been obtained before entry it may be gained by moving about the area. 
However, visits to the other Yaschas Massif areas will still be required to 
satisfy the coverage requirements imposed by the Miss Horizon side quest.


                                 The Artefact

1. "Wild" Artefact - Obtained after completing four quests and resolving a
     Temporal Rift anomaly. This Artefact can be used to enter Time Gate 1 or
     any one of the 9 other Time Gates in the game that accept "Wild" Artefact
     activation.

Situational Directions. The four quests are initiated and completed by 
interacting with red globes. The spacetime distortion "pillar" that is the 
entry point for Temporal Rift anomaly resolution will appear at the foot of the 
stairs leading up to the fal'Cie excavation site.

Map Directions. When the notice of the appearance of a spacetime distortion is 
received after the conclusion of the fourth quest, relocate to the small 
courtyard appearing between the walkway segments in the southwest corner of the 
square-cornered area at the north end of the map. Enter the spacetime 
distortion "pillar" to resolve the Temporal Rift anomaly.
    

                                 The Gate Seal

1. The "Reminiscence" Gate Seal is available immediately. Moogle Throw will be
     needed to collect the item. It enables time Reversal for Yaschas Massif
     100 AF.

Situational Directions. Move away from the entry point Time Gate, down the 
walkway and stairs to the central plaza and up the stairway that serves as the 
exit from the ruined city. Near the top of the exit stairs look over the right-
hand-railing to see the Treasure Cube containing the Gate Seal.

Map Directions. Move to the end of the pathway seen in the southwestern corner 
of the ruined city area. Look down and to the northwest to see the Treasure 
Cube containing the Gate Seal.
 

                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - This initial entry point into Yaschas Massif 100 AF is
     activated by the first use of Academia 400 AF Time Gate 2.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located at the top of the formerly 
blocked meandering walkway that begins at a point just to the left of the 
"command" tent within the ruined city.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is located at the end of the walkway seen in the 
southeast corner of the square-cornered area at the north end of the map.

1. Time Gate 1 - Becomes available once it's Yaschas Massif 100 AF Temporal
     Rift anomaly has been resolved. When activated with a "Wild" Artefact, it
     reveals Sunleth Waterscape 400 AF.

Situational Directions. Exit the ruined city area and follow the pathway to its 
end (keeping to the left but not entering the side passage off to the left when 
it appears). A spacetime distortion "pillar" will appear at the end of the path.
The Time Gate will appear behind it.

Map Directions. Move to the end of the easternmost pathway stub that appears at 
the south end of the map.

                                    The Map

The map is that obtained earlier for Yaschas Massif 010.

Notable changes are the apparent absence of prior Time Gates and previously 
seen barriers.

Given that prior visits have been made to Yaschas Massif 010 AF and Yaschas 
Massif 01X AF, this completes the Yaschas Massif coverage required by the Miss 
Horizon side quest.


                                 The Artefacts

There are no Artefacts to be found in Yaschas Massif 110 AF.


                                 The Gate Seal

1. "Maleficience" Gate Seal - Immediately available and enables Time Reversal
     for Yaschas Massif 110 AF.

Situational Directions. Leave the entry point platform by moving down the 
stairs and across the courtyard. Take the stairway leading up to the fal' Cie 
excavation site. Find the treasure Cube with the Gate Seal on the platform at 
the top of the first flight of stairs.

Map Directions. Move to the walkway system seen in the northwest corner of the 
top of the map. The Treasure Cube will be in plain sight as just after the 
walkway is entered.


                                 The Time Gates

0. Time Gate 0 - The initial entry point into Yaschas Massif 110 AF activated
     by the first use of Bresha Ruins 300 AF Time Gate 1.

Situational Directions. The Time Gate is located on the mid-level platform of 
the three major platforms in the ruined city area. It is visible from almost 
any point within the ruined city.

Map Directions. The Time Gate is located in the middle of the western side of 
the square-cornered area in the north eastern corner of the map.
