Toejam and Earl is an adventure game for the Sega Genesis and more recently
the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. When you play the game you can either
choose to play a set game thatís the same every time, or a random game
thatís different every time. There are 25 levels to the game. This game has
a lot of replay value due to its randomly generated world and Toejam and
Earl is definitely one of my favorite games for the Sega Genesis, and I
hope I have helped you by putting this guide up. Thank you very much.

One day two hip aliens were ridin' around the galaxy in their awesome
spaceship. Toejam, who is the smarter of the two aliens, was
the driver. Earl, the dumber alien, wanted to drive really badly. Finally
Toejam let him drive. Of course, Earl crashed into a Meteor and they both
hurtled helplessly towards earth. Their spaceship broke into many pieces.
Now they both must work together to get all of the ten pieces to their
ship back while going through the many stages of earth.

So, what are presents? How do they help Toejam and Earl on their important
adventure? Well, presents carry many various items to help them. Presents
can be found scattered across the whole world, but you can also buy some
presents from a mailbox with "bucks" that you can find across the game.
In a lot of situations your going to need some presents if you want to be
able to do what you need to do without getting hurt or losing a life.
But there can be downside to presents. Some of them are evil, and will hurt
you whenever you use one. To prevent you from getting hurt and using
presents safely, I have completed this short and simple guide to all of the
presents and how they can help you. Remember that what a present looks like
changes every time you play, but once you have opened an unknown present,
that type of present's contents will be known for the rest of the
playthrough.

And now finally, here is the list of presents.

Bonus Hi-Tops -

Bonus Hi-Tops allow you to run by holding down the A button for a short
amount of time. When you start the game you get four of these items at no
cost to you, don't waste them though, you could end up needing then to run
away from the boogie men found in level 6 and beyond. You can also jump over
short gaps with the Bonus Hi-Tops, simply start running and just dash towards
a cliff and you will instantly jump. If playing two-player, each player gets
two Bonus Hi-Tops.

Boombox -

Makes a Boombox appear next to you and all surrounded enemies will start
dancing, so you can easily sneak past them. This item is definitely best used
when you are being surrounded by multiple enemies, as in, more then 3.

Decoy -

Deploys a Decoy that enemies will attack instead of you, useful when being
crowded by enemies. Be sure that the enemy you are facing is closer to
the decoy then to you, or they will go after you anyway.

Doorway -

Makes a Doorway appear. Upon walking through the Doorway you will be
teleported to a different area of the level. This item is very rare and take
caution in using it, on rare occasions it can teleport you to a small island
that you can't escape from without Icarus Wings or Spring Shoes. You won't
have to worry about this if you are playing on a fixed world.

Earthling -

Not a very good item, makes a random enemy pop up and attack you. In very
rare cases you can get a helpful earthling but you usually just get something
else that you don't want...

Extra Buck -

This present gives you a buck to spend on new presents or to rank up. I
suggest ranking up with it when you find the opera woman, you gain more
health from ranking up and it will help you in the long run.

Extra Life -

I don't think I really need to explain this one to any of you, hopefully you
can figure out that this gives you an extra life. This present is very rare
but you're going to be needing as many extra lives as you can get.

Food -

Gives you a random food item, Most food items heal your health but some can
hurt you such as moldy cheese or icky fungus. Some of the best food items
such as Fudge Sundae heal you for full health.

Fudge Sundae -

This present gives you a Fudge Sundae that restores all of your health. Make
sure that you don't waste this item, only use it when close to death.

Icarus Wings -

Icarus Wings gives you the ability to fly for short amounts of time. This is
useful
for going across gaps but be sure you donít strand yourself on a small
island. The best time to use these is if you get stranded on an island from a
doorway.

Inner tube -

The inner tube present lets you float across water with ease and not lose any
health as you go, look out for sharks: they still hurt you, even when you're
in the inner tube.

Jackpot -

The Jackpot present gives you 5 dollars, very useful but very rare.

Promotion -

Brings you up a new rank, ranks increase your health so you're going to want
to gain as many ranks as you can. This is a very rare present though.

Rain Cloud -

Makes a rain cloud appear over your head and rain on you, slowly taking away
health. You can dive into the water to avoid it, but you're going to have to
come out eventually or you'll drown!

Randomizer -

Randomizes all of your presents, definitely not good if you knew all of them
and had some good ones.

Rocket Skates -

These let you go around at incredible speeds (and over water). just look out
for cliffs, it's very
easy to fall off a cliff on these, they can be very hard to control.

Root beer -

Drink a Root beer and restore some health. Restores around half health.

Rosebushes -

Gives you rosebushes to place in front of your enemies. This blocks them so
they can't get to you, these arenít all that useful though and they're very
common. After placing a rosebush, placing another makes the first one
disappear. Be careful - you can be hurt by rosebushes.

Slingshot -

This present gives you a slingshot to shoot enemies. The only other way of
hurting enemies is
with tomatoes, so use these when thereís some tough enemies around.

Spring Shoes -

Lets you bounce upon holding the A button. Good for getting across gaps and
getting away from enemies.

Super Hi-Tops -

This present is exactly the same as the Bonus Hi-Tops, so don't worry if you
used all your Bonus Hi-Tops: You can still get these.

Telephone -

Pick up the telephone to uncover some pieces of your map, very good unless it
uncovers useless spots or if you already uncovered the elevator/ship part.

Togetherness -

In a two player co-op game the present "Un-fall" becomes "Togetherness". When
one player use the Togetherness present it brings
him to the exact same spot as the second player, regardless of what level the
second player is on.

Tomato Rain -

Makes tomatoes fall from the sky, they can hurt you so look out or dive into
some water.

Tomatoes -

Gives you the ability to throw tomatoes at your enemies for a short amount of
time, use them as much as you need, you only have them for a short amount of
time so make good use of it!

Total Bummer -

This present kills you. Not what I would call a good present. There is a way
to avoid this though, while getting shocked mash on the button to open up
your presentís menu. When it opens you wonít be dead yet, quickly use a
present that gives you some food and you'll be healed!

Un-Fall -

If you fall down to a previous level this brings you back up to your old

Please do not copy my guide into any other websites, or put it on
your own. This guide was made only for the GameFaqs website,
and if I find out anyone has used it on anything besides my website,
I will contact the administrators of the website. Yeah yeah, this probably
doesn't help at all, so I exspect to soon see this posted on about 50 other
websites...

If you have any questions or have something I missed email me at
adambdude@gmail.com and I will get back to you as soon as I can, I don't
check my email daily so don't worry if it takes me a little bit of time to
respond.

Before I leave I wanted to thank CJC for creating GameFAQs and my brother
