"The Fight Is Finished"
Halo 3...possibly the most over-rated game of all time, but it deserves the hype!
Halo 3's graphics were pretty well done, but not perfect. Weapon details, lighting, player and enemy models are all good, but some jaggies are found on walls and other terrain. Overall though, the graphics are pretty solid.
Halo 3's sound is very good, and fits well into the game. The voice acting is superior to many games, and the guns sound very good as well. The screams and groans of the enemies as you mow them down is very satisfying, to say the least. The only thing keeping the sound from getting a 10/10 is the fact that some guns sound very quiet, like the Assault Rifle and the Battle Rifle.
GamePlay (Single-Player) 6/10
Halo 3's Single-Player campaign is good, to say the least...but it seems like it is lacking something. The levels were put together well, and the enemies seemed to fit, but it lacked the epicness of the first and second installments.I found myself zoning out while playing campaign
quite a few times. Eh, It could've been better.
GamePlay (Multi-Player) 10/10
Halo 3's Multi-Player is where the game really shines! To start, you have the choice to play Split-Screen, or over a LAN, or you can go to Xbox Live and play with people around the world! Halo 3's multi-player is very intense, and you will find yourself many times with sweaty palms sitting on the edge of your seat, waiting for your enemies (or friends) to come out of hiding or waiting for the opportune moment to jump out of cover and try to get a few shots off. It can get very intense, and you can find time flying by as you're blasting your friends and enemies, just to scrounge up a little EXP or bragging rights, or just to better your skills.
Unlockables and Easter Eggs. 8/10
Halo 3 has many unlockables, easter eggs, and other things to look around for! During the course of the game you may find skulls laying around in hard to reach places, or just well hidden...these skulls (when picked up and activated) give 10 point achievements, unlock armor permutations, or just add a bit more fun to your game! As you grow in rank on Xbox Live, you unlock special armor permutations for certain ranks, which is rather fun, and you can get the armor perms from other things as well, such as completing the game on Legendary, unlocking certain achievements, picking up a certain amount of skulls, and more! Halo 3 has many things to find, so don't quit playing campaign just because you went through it once :]
Rent or Buy? Definitely a buy, it is worth the money and more.
Overall : 7.8/10 (Rounded up to 8/10)
Halo 3 is a great game, but does have some minor flaws. Many features are very well executed (the Theatre, the Service Record system) and some aren't executed very well (Forge, Matchmaking) But the good definitely outweighs the bad.
