"A fun game with a satisfactory ending to a series."
Halo 3 is one of those games you get addicted to, then shove into the corner shortly after. You can remember some great times, then CoD4 gets shoved into your face. You remember the matchmaking, how you owned noobs all day long... But again, there are other games better than it.
Technical Feats: 7/10
This game has an amazing draw distance, but doesn't need it. It's draw distance is 14 miles! That is a fact. The levels can be big and open, but not so much that you need a 14 mile draw distance. The lighting and shadowing is decent, but not amazing. The physics engine is great, but again, could be better! The sound effects are great as always. The reason it gets the score it does is because apart from boxes and physics, the enviroments feel so static, CoD4 came out at the same time and that had bullet penatration, with gave the game an urgency which no over FPS could match. With Halo 3 on the other hand, it is safe to take cover anywhere. They both came out at around the same time, at that time, it was NOT technically impressive in terms of graphics, it isn't today either.
There are some plot holes, but it is a satisfactory end. I am not going to give out ANY spoilers.
Art direction: 9/10
As always, it's Halo! It has that artistic sci fi feel which looks cartoony at times, there is not much more to say!
Good then, decent now. There is no reason why this game is stuck in the past with halo 1. Medal of honour changed, why not this? Call of duty lets you aim down the sights, that is its innovation. Halo... Lets... You... Shoot... Stuff... And... Deploy... Equipment? What the hell? Bungie ran out of ideas...
Custom games? Brilliant! Matchmaking? Good... The matchmaking is exactly like Halo 2 but with more stability. The custom games? Custom maps and game types baby! Get a bunch of mates together and enjoy the fun as you laugh at hillarious custom maps and, in a whole, pee your pants. The reason you should own this game!
Should I buy or try?
If you have xbox live and some friends who play the game on a regular basis, buy it and love it! If you have not got one of those, give it a rental.
