"A great addition to the Splinter Cell series."
In Splinter Cell: Double Agent, you play as Sam Fisher, the protagonist of the previous games. You are an undercover agent for NSA (the good guys) spying on JBA (the bad guys). Even though there is a clear-cut line between who the good guys and who the bad guys are, you can work for either one. You just have to keep your trust up on both sides, or else the game will end. In all the levels, stealth is a very important aspect. Yes, you have the option to go in guns blazing killing off every bad guy, but the game is almost impossible that way, as your character isn't like Rambo in this game. So no matter what, you'll have to do a lot of stealth play, picking off the bad guys silently one by one.
To start, the gameplay is great. You have different ways to complete each level, and each one of those ways is always worth giving a shot. Even though most of the time one way is better than another. Throughout the course of the game, you'll have a few different choices to make, and each of them will effect what kind of goals you'll absolutely have to do later in the game. The goals at the JBA base are all optional, but if you need extra trust then you should complete them. And if you don't complete them, your trust with either the JBA or NSA will go down depending on who the goal was for. So the goals system is very realistic, and although you're given missions, you don't have to do the missions but your trust will go down if you don't.
The graphics are just outstanding. They are some of the best on the 360. The environments are just stunning on all of the levels, and it almost looks like you're playing in a real world. The character models are all great and realistic. I was absolutely amazed when I got it. It seems they put a lot of effort into graphics.
The storyline is basically one of the best things about the game. The game is based on a book I believe, so it's generally expected to have a great story. The characters are never 1-dimensional. All characters have their flaws and their good things, even the bad guys. The main storyline is exciting and leaves you wanting more and more as you go on, and the different endings are fun to see. So basically, the storyline is among the better of game stories.
The sound effects are good, but nothing really noticeable. The voice work is good. It seems they put a lot of effort into the voices as they are better than most games and the emotion and such in the voices most of the time (with a few exceptions of monotone lines) is just right. The background music is very nice and always fitting for what's going on in the levels. So, overall the sound is great with a few minor things.
The replayability in the game is good. The multiplayer is great (from what I've playeddon't have Xbox Live at my house). The levels are fun to play through again several times and you don't really get sick of them that often, though it won't last forever.
Most people would enjoy this game. Players of the previous games will be very happy with it and new players to the franchise will just be blown away by how great it is.
