How do I open purple doors?

There are many purple doors that I still cannot open. For instance, in homes -- I purchase the home and there are purple doors that remain locked. Are they part of a unknown quest or what???

If your talking about in Bowerstone - the majority of those I have not found a way to open. BUT, in some houses they lead to a small back-area that may have a chest or dig spot but not all of them. So most of them are just for decoration I think.
