Gifts and stuff?

Hey if I give my wife clothing, does she wear it? And if I give her celery, does she get skinnier? Or do they stay the same?

It would be a better game if it had that level of control on how your partner looks but unfortunately giving her clothes or healthy food doesn't change her appearance.
