"Fable II: Limited Edition"
It had been long awaited for the sequel to the Bestseller of 2004. These Rigorous years of waiting and only getting tiny bits of information from Peter Molyneux and the Others over at Lionhead studio. We waited for such a good long time, and on October 21 of the Year 2008, The long awaited game released. Personally, I was stoked to go and pick the game up at midnight, and when I got home I popped the disc into my 360 and watched the game come to life. My first impression was that I was a bit confused about the new controls, Which Is what I am going to get to first.
Controls: 8/10; The Reason I give the Controls and Eight is for one, The Infamous Right trigger that everyone seems to be complaining about. At times I found myself trying to shoot with it, or use my Will since that is the way you choose your choice of Spells, I thought the B Button Casting personally was a bit lame. And Number two is the Big Pop Up in the middle of scenes of the Green background with a Left Trigger Button, This got extremely annoying at times to look at, If the Creators wanted you to look at something, they should have automatically made you do so. Other than Those few downfall, The Controls were self explanitory.
Sound: 9/10; The Music was not something I was expecting from such a large scale game, In the fact that Each area you can go to has 1 track which repeats over and over, though each are uniqe in there own way. Other than the Repetative music, The Dialogue, Sounds, and Effects were quite impressive, with over 45,000 lines of dialogue alone, the game hardly ever repeats itself. All in all, The Men and Women of Lionhead really went out and outdid themselves to make sure we did'nt get bothered by a villager walking behind you and repeating the same line over and over *Cough Cough* Oblivion ...*Cough*. The Sounds and Effects can be sometimes repetative, but That is the same in all games.
Graphics: 10/10; As in its Predacessor, Fable II's Graphics are outstanding. The enviroment is what everyone, even people only observing seem to comment on the beauty of the World. The Enviroment is really alive too, Animals wonder freely, and Plants wave in the wind. Somehow Lionhead creates the perfect "Garden of Eden" feel to the world of Albion. The first level you appear on is the Slums of Bowerstone, but somehow, even the slums are Majestic. All in all, Even if you dont like Fable, The graphics cannot be denied greatness. The Character Development is Astonishing also, Even as a child in the game you affect your character. Doing Evil or Good for the world affects you, and That is very original in Lionhead studio games. Costumes for the characters were quite neat in the fact you can dye them different colors to make your own unique character differant than one someone in China has. Fable II also introduces Job Minigames and New Pub Games which were fun, but after a bit got a little repetative.
Limited Edition Content: 10/10; As I am an avid fan of the first game, and have been waiting a long time for the second, I took the liberty to preorder the LE (Limited Edition). Upon arriving at my house, I took the Code given and punched it in on Xbox Live to receive my rewards. You Receive Three things, A Dungeon which contains lots of treasure and a Super Sword called the Wreckager, A Secret Island which contains 15000 Gold, plus other Various rare Items, and Something known as the Hal's Armor and Sword set. If you are a Halo Fan, you will love the Hal's armor and sword, because then you will be able to look like Master Chief and Carry a Plasma Sword, You can also take the Liberty of Having the people of Albion call you Master Chief, Which was fun as Hell.
Story: 8/10; If this game has any Huge downfall, It was in the Storyline. It began as a cliche story would, as did the other. You and your sister make some money so you can have some music box which grants you one wish, then Once the wish comes true, she gets herself killed, Then you strike out on a quest of revenge. The story though, is Quite Original in the sense that it takes place in a world where you are doing something No one has attempted in 500 years. The Story also could have been more in depth, I beat it in one day since I consisted of like 15 Short Simple Tasks.
Overall: 10/10; Though this game had some downfalls, what games do not. It was a fun experiance to play and gives you so many options, I am working on my third character at the moment and I am still loving it because the world can change so Simply by every action you take with each character. This Game was so much more than I expected, But in the same sense could've fixed a few things.
Buy, Rent, or Borrow : My Personal Opinion is to Buy the game, But If you dont have the $60 for it, Wait for a freind to get bored and borrow it, Or Just wait until it goes down to a more reasonable price. But If I were any of you, I would find the $60 to sacrifice for this endless game of possibilities.
