"Great Graphics, nice effects and costumes, but has an overdone counter system."

Dead or Alive is finally on the Xbox 360. Many people have played DOA even since the Dreamcast. This game is great, but not a reason to purchase an Xbox 360 by itself, which means that you should buy something else along with this game.

Graphics: 9/10

Even from the opening that shows the Team Ninja logo, this game has amazing visuals. The characters and surroundings hardly have any flaws. Some characters don't look as good as others, but nevertheless look amazing. Along with that, every character has at least 3 or more costumes. Some characters own costumes look alike, but it makes no difference.

Gameplay: 7.5/10

This game can be very fast and fun, but has some major flaws. A new counter system to DOA. If you didn't know, countering is when your opponent is about to strike you, but you dodge and strike yourself and/or grab them. This can save you at times but it mainly saves the computer. Some computers wait for you to attack and counter you continuously until you lose all of your health. The final boss is just unfair. The final boss is stronger, faster and cheaper than your character. Some of her throws are mini cut-scenes which take away half of your health. Some of her combos do the same. Off of that subject, when you try to grab computers, two problems can occur. One of them is that your grab will go right thorough the opponent, leaving you open and letting the opponent take away most of your health with a big combo. The second one is that once you grab your opponent, they break out of your grab and unleash a combo on you. In other words, don't try to grab a computer unless you feel lucky.

Features: 9/10

A lot of unlockables and achievements and online. Isn't that all somebody wants from a game besides a whole slew of other things? Still, this is an impressive load of unlockables and achievements and will take you a long time to finish. Also, Ryu Hyabusa (the character you use in Ninja Gaiden) and Spartan 458 (a.k.a. Nicole, a Spartan other than Master Chief from the Halo games who wasn't featured in the games) are great features themselves.

Sound: 8.5/10

Everyone except Spartan 458 speaks in Japanese, but there are English subtitles. Lucky you. The background sounds are great and the punching and kicking sounds are nice too. The only problem is that there are unlock-able voices of the characters that say things like "Get Ready" and "Fight!". The voices are fine but when everyone except Spartan 458 's voice tries speak English, they can barely pronounce the words. Also, the voice that you start with is just annoying.

Overall: Great

Buy it if you want/need a fighter game and have played totally unfair games before.

Rent it if you want a fighter, but you get angry easily and hate cheapness.

Stay Away if you are hate Japanese-based games or hate fighters and don't hav an Xbox 360. But why in the world would you see this review if you hate fighter games?
