How do you escape the earthquake (when you're in the car)?

Is there some trick to escaping the earthquake in the car? I've tried the level about 20 times and cannot figure out how to control the car, even after I've memorized the route. Sometimes the car will barely hit a curb and flip over.

Try easing off the gas a bit when you turn and then gunning it again when you're looking in the direction you want to face. Makes steering a lot easier, and yeah - you can roll your vehicle by hitting a napkin it seems. 20+ tries here is completely normal.
