                        1.0 Introduction this Guide/FAQ [ExFAQ]

    First and foremost, all information in this FAQ is taken from the Japanese
    Guidebook by Bandai Namco Games, Tales of Vesperia Official Complete Guide.
    Skill descriptions are taken from the game with me editing the descriptions in
    more detail as and when it's needed as described from the ToV Official Complete
    Guide. No, I don't actually know how to translate from Japanese to English, but
    I do know how to read percentages and katakana and edited in those figures from
    the Japanese Guidebook into the skill descriptions from the game. Rin and
    Freshy, two people I know online are the ones that helped me translate certain
    parts from the Guidebook from Japanese to English that I needed for this
    Guide/FAQ. They've also helped me with confirming any of the skill descriptions
    that I had doubts in.
    
    I've also used certain Guides/FAQs that are found at GameFAQs for certain
    information that I needed to write this FAQ. You can refer to the credits
    section at the end of this FAQ to find out which FAQs that I had used/referred
    to.
    
    As for what kind of information can be found from this FAQ, please refer to the
    Contents found above. I've included Keyword shortcuts to each section so that
    you can jump to the section that you wish to look at by using CTRL + F. To find
    a particular skill that you want to look at, again, just use CTRL + F and type
    in the skill name.
    
    I hope players of this game, both old and new, will find this FAQ useful,
    especially when deciding which skills to equip on your characters and also to
    best suit your playing style.

                          2.0 Explanation on Skills [ExSkill]
    ===============================================================================

                            2.1 How do Skills work [SkWork]
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Skills are divided into 4 different categories (Attack, Guard, Move and
    Support) depending on their effects, and they basically enhance the battle
    capabilities or stats of a Character.
    
    There are two ways to equip a skill. One is via weapons, and the other is by
    using the Character's SP (Skill Points). Each skill costs different amount of
    SP to equip. You will gain more SP as the character levels up. Each character
    has a maximum of 500 SP at max level (Lv 200). In order to equip the skill
    without equipping the weapon where the skill is attached to, you need to gain
    enough LP through battling to learn the skill. Once you learn a skill, the
    SP cost of the skill will be revealed.
    
    Each Skill gives a different effect in battle. For more details, please refer
    to the Skills List Section 3.0.
    
    When a skill is equipped, it will be highlighted in Green. Skills that have
    not been learned yet will have a bar beside the skill. The bar will tell you
    how close you are to learning a skill. Different skills require different
    amounts of LP to learn. Some skills are learned faster than others. For more
    details on how much LP you need to learn a skill, please refer to the Skills
    List Section 3.0.
    
    * When the text is enclosed with a [ ] bracket in the skill description, it
      means that it's a controller action (pressing/holding a button and/or
      using/pressing the left stick).

                              2.2 Skill Symbols [SkSymb]
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Skills are divided into 4 different categories (Attack, Guard, Move and
    Support), and every skill in each of these categories have a predetermined
    numerical value called Symbol Points. This means that a skill in the "Attack"
    category gives Attack Symbol Points, a skill in the "Guard" category gives
    Guard Symbol Points, a skill in the "Move" category gives Move Symbol Points
    and a skill in the "Support" category gives Support Symbol Points. All Skill
    Symbols are related to a particular set of skill categories.
    
    By completing the different conditions stated in section 2.3, Skill Symbols
    can be created and produces different effects during Over Limit.

                      2.3 How to create Skill Symbols [CreSkSym]
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Skill Symbols are formed when you meet certain conditions through skills that
    you have equipped. Each equipped skill (both from weapons and skills equipped
    using SP) gives you a certain amount of Symbol Points that is associated with
    the skill type (Attack Symbol Points, Guard Symbol Points, Move Symbol Points
    and Support Symbol Points). When you meet the conditions to create a Skill
    Symbol, it will be formed.
    
    You can double equip skills to get the same amount of Symbol Points x2. For
    instance, the skill Strength gives you one Attack Symbol Point. If you equip
    the Strength skill, which you have learned from a weapon via the Skills Menu,
    and equip the weapon which the Strength skill is attached to (the weapon where
    you learned the Strength skill from), you will get two Attack Symbol Points.
    While double equipping skills do not give you any extra effect from the skill,
    it will still give you the Symbol Points for that skill category, but you will
    get double the original amount of Symbol Points from that skill rather than
    just the normal amount of Symbol Points you get from that skill itself.
    However, double equipping the same skill will not count toward your total
    number of equipped skills, meaning, even if you equip the same skill twice
    through equipping a weapon and the learned skill using your SP, it will still
    be counted as only one skill equipped.
    
    Thus, according to the conditions to create a Skill Symbol as detailed below,
    once a skill category has hit over 30 Symbol Points in total, Symbol Points
    will no longer matter in deciding what Skill Symbol is created. Only the total
    number of equipped skills will matter when deciding what Skill Symbol is
    created. Double equipping skills can be very useful for forming the most basic
    Skill Symbols, namely Fleck, Rockra, Strihm or Laytos, but it won't be very
    helpful in creating the more complicated Skill Symbols that require a
    combination of skill categories. So, in order to get the Chrocs Skill Symbol
    easily, you need to balance out the number of skills equipped throughout the
    four skill categories with all of them at over 30 Symbol Points at the same
    time.
    
    
    == Conditions to create a Skill Symbol ==
    Condition 1-0: Out of the Attack, Guard, Move and Support categories, only one
                   of them has over 30 Symbol Points.
           Yes --> A Skill Symbol is created according to whichever category has
                   over 30 Symbol Points. The Skill Symbol that is created will
                   be either Fleck, Rockra, Strihm or Laytos.
            No --> Go to Condition 2-0.
    
    
    Condition 2-0: Out of the Attack, Guard, Move and Support categories, two of
                   them has over 30 Symbol Points.
           Yes --> Go to Condition 2-1.
            No --> Go to Condition 3-0.
    
    Condition 2-1: Out of the two categories, one of them has double or more than
                   double the number of skills equipped vs. the other.
           Yes --> A Skill Symbol is created according to the category that has
                   the most number of skills equipped. The Skill Symbol that is
                   created will be either Fleck, Rockra, Strihm or Laytos.
            No --> A Skill Symbol is created using the combination of the two
                   categories. The Skill Symbol that is created will be either
                   Goldos, Sandor, Ailus, Twory or Nhosing.
    
    
    Condition 3-0: Out of the Attack, Guard, Move and Support categories, three of
                   them has over 30 Symbol Points.
           Yes --> Go to Condition 3-1.
            No --> Go to Condition 4-0.
    
    Condition 3-1: Out of the three categories, the category with the most number
                   of skills equipped has double or more than double the number of
                   skills equipped vs. the category with the 2nd highest number of
                   skills equipped.
           Yes --> A Skill Symbol is created according to the category that has
                   the most number of skills equipped. The Skill Symbol that is
                   created will be either Fleck, Rockra, Strihm or Laytos.
            No --> Go to Condition 3-2.
    
    Condition 3-2: Out of the three categories, the category with the 2nd most
                   number of skills equipped has double or more than double the
                   number of skills equipped vs. the category with the 3rd highest
                   number of skills equipped.
           Yes --> A Skill Symbol is created using the combination of the two
                   categories with the most and 2nd most number of skills equipped.
                   The Skill Symbol that is created will be either Goldos, Sandor,
                   Ailus, Twory or Nhosing.
            No --> The Kaon Skill Symbol is created.
    
    
    Condition 4-0: Out of the Attack, Guard, Move and Support categories, four of
                   them has over 30 Symbol Points.
           Yes --> Go to Condition 4-1.
            No --> No Skill Symbol is created.
    
    Condition 4-1: Out of the four categories, the category with the most number
                   of skills equipped has double or more than double the number of
                   skills equipped vs. the category with the 2nd highest number of
                   skills equipped.
           Yes --> A Skill Symbol is created according to the category that has
                   the most number of skills equipped. The Skill Symbol that is
                   created will be either Fleck, Rockra, Strihm or Laytos.
            No --> Go to Condition 4-2.
    
    Condition 4-2: Out of the four categories, the category with the 2nd most
                   number of skills equipped has double or more than double the
                   number of skills equipped vs. the category with the 3rd highest
                   number of skills equipped.
           Yes --> A Skill Symbol is created using the combination of the two
                   categories with the most and 2nd most number of skills equipped.
                   The Skill Symbol that is created will be either Goldos, Sandor,
