What is "Rapid Aim"?

Certain bows have the bonus called "Rapid Aim". Does anyone know what effect this has in game? Does it reduce the attack speed penalty when using the aim talent?

Thank you in advance.

No "rapid aim" talent is shown anywhere. There is the "aim"sustained talent, or "rapid shot" sustained talent; Are these what you're talking about? If so, then no, it does not grant access to these or automatically activate them.

I have had a rapid aim bow equipped on Leliana for awhile. Many of the unique bows have this quality. I've tested equipping a bow with rapid shot, then comparing by equipping a bow with the exact same stats without rapid shot. It grants no additional talent, nor does it have any obvious impact on the numbers in the statistics screen.

There was some testing done and some digging in the tool set and it turns out that Rapid Aim decreases the time it takes to Aim the particular ranged weapon by about 30%.

Interestingly enough, there's a bug in the aiming code that makes ranged weapons slower if you stack on a ton of speed increasing talents and/or spells (haste + rapid aim + rapid shot + high dexterity etc.) and no real word if this was ever corrected. So for all intents and purposes, Rapid aim really means "Don't need to keep Rapid Shot activated".

you know how there is a rapid aim talent? i'm not 100% sure but i think it gives you access to this if you dont have it unlocked much like furry in the kotor series for certain weapons. It is possible though that it is always on when the bow is equipped without you having to waste points activating it you could easily check this in game by equipping one of these bows then checking to see whether or not rapid aim is activated, and btw rapid aim just increases rate of fire (and might slightly reduce damage output but using it for 50% of my play time as a rogue i didnt notice any difference in output while noticing an extreme rate of fire increase)
