How do you "spot" an enemy?

How do you spot an enemy in the game? I've looked it up, but everyone says to hit the back button. Do they mean the down button on the D-Pad or do they mean some other button?

Pressing the "back" button (left of the guide button) activates the Team Comms which is used to point out enemy units, tanks, uav's, etc., to the rest of your teammates. During a multiplayer match, if you see an enemy, aim your crosshairs directly at them and tap the "back" button. You should then see a little red symbol indicating where they are and what the particular unit is. The marker will stay above them for several seconds as long as you maintain a clear line of sight on them. This is actually very helpful and effective in online matches, especially for your snipers.
Additionally, you can also use team comms to call out to your teammates to pick you up if they're driving a vehicle.

Look down your sights and press the back button. If they are too far or behind many plants, it might not register the find

Also, the "Spotting Scope" for the Recon class automatically does this for you. Before I got it, I thought it would only work on finding other snipers but actually it marks all targets you put in the crosshairs.
