Why does the game keep telling me "Skip Match"?

When I tell the calendar to advance in carear mode, it advances to the date of the game and is suppose to say start match but instead it says skip match only and it won't let me play!

In career mode (i assume your playing as a player and not a manager) your manager decides weather he wants to play you in the next game or not. If you have not been picked it makes you skip the match. Every few games or so the manager will give you a chance to prove yourself.

It also helps if your character isn't playing a position on a team where the real life person is famous or notable.
