"Destroy the Mother Brain!! (and have a lot of fun doing it!!)"
For those who have been under a rock for the last 12 years, metroid debuted on the NES way back in 1987 (1989?) Regardless of the release date, it was a classic game with a lot of adevemnture elemnts combined with fast action and great platform play. The sequel, Super Metroid, was released for Super NES in 1995, and remains one of my all time favorites. Super Metroid is defiently one of the 5 best games on Super NES, bar none.
GRAPHICS (10/10): Wow, talk about detail!!! The charcater and enemy designs are great, and the backgrounds have a great amount of variety and deatail to them. This game makes the original metroid look like Pong.
CONTROL (7/10): Warning! Do not play the game on the default control setting!! It is rather frustrating to play because of the layout!!
GAMEPLAY (10/10): The game is just like the original Metroid, with a few new and cool innovations. For instance, the bosses are HUGE!!! Especailly that one boos that spans several stories high!! Anyways, the main game is pretty cool in itself. Basically, you are in this huge place, with different regions. You need to find items to gain the abilty to find seevral items, and you must backtrack several times. GREAT gameplay!!
FUN FACTOR (11/10): put away the first two, super Metroid is here and its awesome!! Now where's Metroid 64 (thinking of Mario and Zelda 64)?? Umm, never mind...
